Ubisoft today revealed the first gameplay trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The new preview gives us a much better idea of what to expect than the previous announcement trailer did, and as expected, the game (and gameplay) looks damn awesome.

Watch the new trailer below, and let us know what you think! You’ll be able to step into the shoes of Edward Kenway on October 29th!

These last few days have been INSANE with all the information coming out for the next in the Battlefield series. We have teaser trailers, dog tags and a stack of leaked features. Come with me!

A few days ago we got the leaked artwork for BF4 ( check out our write up on it here ). Then the guys over at DICE created a new site that urged players to log in. The new Battlefield 4 Official Website had a counter going, the more players that logged in with their Origin account the more would be revealed for the first teaser image. What was unlocked first was this fabulously orange picture of a smoking aircraft carrier, titled “Amphibious Assault”

Battlefield 4 Amphibious Assault

Couple that with today’s teaser “SEA”, I HOPE, that we can see a type of aircraft carrier defend mode. If you’ve played Battlefield 2142’s Titan mode then you know what kind of crazy antics to expect.

Next we got this other teaser, “Land”.

Tease after tease! FINALLY, we got some leaked info on what the game features will be like. These are unconfirmed as of now, but hopefully at least half of these stick.

Battlefield 4 will stick with 64 players. Maps are larger and more detailed.

Three factions: US, Russia, and an unnamed “Eastern/Asian” faction.
4 classes with “additional features and tweaks” compared to BF3
Shipping with same amount of maps as BF3, there are plans for lots of DLC.
DLC is already in planning stages.
Battlefield 4 Premium will be available on day one and include some perks.
Most of the guns and vehicles from BF3 will return.
More squad features.
Commander feature returns, but won’t be the same as in BF2
Battlefield 4 is coming out on both current and next gen systems, and PC as well.
Game is more of an evolution rather than revolution of the series. Both technically and gameplay wise.
Will ship with more game modes than BF3
Will ship with more close quarter infantry maps than BF3
Frostbite 2 engine is pushed further in BF4. Better effects, higher res textures, more detailed game worlds, etc.
BF3 will still be supported after Battlefield 4 launches.
There is plan of some sort of integration between BF3 and BF4. Could be Battlelog-only.
Battlelog will be updated for Battlefield 4 with more social features and more detailed stats.
Single-player and co-op will return, new writers involved this time.

This is all very, very exciting! I really hope they implement some sort of Titan mode and bring the Commander Role back proper. Playing Commander in BF2 was one of the funnest things I did in the game, besides intense HALO missions.

With all this info getting pumped out we can certainly expect the game to shit this year, like what was rumored.

With the last expansion for Battlefield 3, End Game has been released and is AWESOME! So I guess EA was bored with no upcoming Battlefield content on the horizon, so they let slip the cover art for the next in the series. Battlefield 4. Lets take a look at the WHOLE THANG!

That looks….a lot like the same old thing. The soldier has what appears to be holding a EBR rifle, based off the M14 rifle. He also appears to be holding a USP pistol. The tank to his back right looks like an older Vietnam era tank (perhaps a T-55?), but we got ourselves a modern Abrams to his left.

I can speculate that we will see our game going into China, as Shanghai cityscape can be seen in this photo.

No more info about this game has been released, but the rumours are that we may see it released this Holiday season. That makes me excited and sad at the same time. Hopefully we can get some carry over from BF3, as I don’t want to see that game die right away and the great Battlefield series go the way of the CoD.

Way back in August, we showed you seven minutes in heaven, gameplay footage from GamesCom of the intriguing cyber punk game Remember Me. Well now we got ourselves a nice little trailer, check it out below.

Not only do we get this new piece of eye candy, we got an updated release date. JUNE 4th BABY!

Remember Me will be available on PS3 , XBOX 360 and PC.

Look, we’ve all had some bad luck here and there. Well, not as much as Isaac Clarke has had… but we’ve had some.

Now, we’re looking to give one of you lucky people some better luck by giving away a FREE copy (yes, even in this economy) of DEAD SPACE 3! The best part about this contest? You don’t have to fight a necromorph, run to a save point with almost no ammo at all or use any credits to be eligible… because it’s free and easy to enter.

Check out the trailer for the game and the contest rules below.

Dead Space 3 brings Isaac Clarke and merciless soldier, John Carver, on a journey across space to discover the source of the Necromorph outbreak. Crash-landed on the frozen planet of Tau Volantis, the pair must comb the harsh environment for raw materials and scavenged parts. Isaac will then put his engineering skills to the ultimate test to create and customize weapons and survival tools. The ice planet holds the key to ending the Necromorph plague forever, but first the team must overcome avalanches, treacherous ice-climbs, and the violent wilderness. Facing deadlier evolved enemies and the brutal elements, the unlikely pair must work together to save mankind from the impending apocalypse.

So, here are the rules:

– Go to the Geekscape Facebook page: HERE

– Make sure you hit LIKE on the page (because that’s required to enter).

– Then find the DEAD SPACE image at the top of the page and SHARE IT with all of your friends.

– And one final step: COMMENT on the image with the scariest moment you’ve ever experienced in a video game (maybe one from the DEAD SPACE games, but you can use whatever game you want).

The deadline for the contest is Friday at Midnight PST. The contest is only open to residents of the United States. Hey, postage isn’t cheap!

Now get to it! You’re almost out of ammo and the other contestants are hot on your heels!

The first of three planned maps for the online portion of Halo 4 just got a release trailer. Check out what you can expect in the “Crimson Map Pack” below.

I am actually not very impressed. These all feel very very similar to existing maps, nothing screams “BUY ME”. If you want to enjoy Crimson you can for 800 MS points on December 10th.

The next iteration and expansion for the online shooter masterpiece, Battlefield 3, just got it’s launch trailer TODAY! Check out Aftermath below.

If you’ve not been in the loop, Aftermath is the fourth expansion for Battlefield 3 (BF3 premium member this will show up on Battlelog automatically). It takes place after the series of earthquakes that hit Tehran in the single player campaign. We all remember that big building coming down in the BF3 launch trailer, well now we can play in that crashed (the tower was driving drunk) building!

New mad max looking cobbled vehicles and the crossbow everyone was raging over fit very well in the post quake environments. I am very excited to see how the aftershocks and tremors will play a role into online play.

So if you have a PS3 you can hop on right now and play these maps right away, PC and Xbox need to wait until December 4th.

Tomorrow is going to be both sad and glorious.

On one hand, after seven long, amazing, heartbreaking months, we’ll finally get a chance to witness how things conclude for Lee and the gang. On the other hand, my favourite game of 2012 is coming to a close, and I can only imagine that it’s not going to be a happy ending.

Telltale Games has crafted one of the finest adventure titles that I’ve ever played, and if the past few months have been any indication, I can’t recommend it enough. I can’t think of a game that deserves all the praise its been getting more than this one.

Check out the trailer below and share your excitement! It’s going to be tough getting through work tomorrow know that this is waiting for me at home.

You know how much Geekscape loves Telltale’s The Walking Dead. Jonathan has stated over and over that their episodic adventure is his favourite iteration of the series, and I’ve gone even further than that to say the Telltale’s The Walking Dead is my favourite piece of zombie fiction, period.

It also happens to be my favourite game of the year. If you’re still not playing it despite all of our countless recommendations, you don’t deserve to!

I’m both ecstatic and sad to learn that the final chapter of this amazing, memorable adventure is set to hit in just under a week. Next Tuesday, no matter what platform you happen to be on (including iOS!), you’ll be able to download and play through the final few hours of this incredible tale.

Telltale has assured us that we’ll be getting another season of the adventure, but with how things tend to go for this group of survivors, I can fairly confidently say that the story probably won’t be related. Too bad, as Telltale has crafted some of the best characters that The Walking Dead has ever seen.

Shit went absolutely crazy in the closing moments of the penultimate Around Every Corner. I swear that if anything happens to Clementine, there’ll be hell to pay. You can read our reviews of past episodes here, here, here, and here. As I’ve mentioned before, we’re not on Telltale’s payroll, the game is simply that good!

Are you excited? Let us know what you’ve thought of the game so far!

Derek Miller returns to Geekscape to talk about his new TBS comedy series “The Wedding Band”, premiering this weekend! Derek talks about getting the gig after not knowing how to play the drums, becoming friends with Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox and talking to Lost’s Harold Perrineau about the series ending! Also, what Derek gave up comic books for, making it in Hollywood and what games he’s still playing. Oh yeah, and Megan Fox is a serious gamer.

What a week! While I was working on our slew of Geekscape related projects, like ‘Doc of the Dead’, the Geekscape went crazy! New trailers for ‘Iron Man 3’, ‘Django Unchained’ and the ‘Evil Dead’ remake! Is Frank Grillo suiting up for Captain America 2? Ant Man starts filming in January! ‘Arrow’ steps up its game and ‘The Walking Dead’ REALLY steps up its game! Plus! What’s with soft hearted assassins? And ‘Silent Hill: Revelation 3D’ director Michael K. Bassett talks being a serious gamer!

AC3 ships October 30th on Xbox and PS3. November 18th on the WiiU

In an attempt to prep our bodies for the greatness that GTA V will be, Rockstar Games is releasing an epic collection of games.

November 6th gamers can pick up Rockstar Games Collection Edition 1 for the tiny fee of $59.99. This mega pack includes:

  • Red Dead Redemption
  • GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City. Which is two complete games in one.
  • L.A. Noire (my Game of the year 2011)
  • Midnight Club LA Complete Edition

This is an amazing deal for gamers. I haven’t played three of these and picking them all up for the price of one (1) new game is pretty rad.

Check your local game shoppe on November 6th. RGCE1 will be on both Xbox 360 and PS3

The Walking Dead Episode 4: Around Every Corner is set to hit sometime this month. Geekscape cannot wait, as it has already been far too long since an episode was released (Like August!).

Telltale released the trailer for the upcoming fourth chapter today. Watch it, want it, and let us know your thoughts on the game so far below!

Again, the episode does not have a release date as of yet, but is scheduled to come out sometime this month.

November 13th is rapidly approaching and the folks over at Treyarch have just let loose the info on the included Zombies minigame that comes included with Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, and it is a HUGE minigame. Take a look at the trailer below.

Besides that rad as hell trailer we got a stack of info. The newest incarnation of Zombies is bigger and better than ever. We get a semi-open world environment where players get to explore it on their own accord. Players are given a bus and a roadmap of survival, and get to go about it in their own way. I am very pumped for this!

Call Of Duty: Black Ops II ships November 18th on XBOX, PS3 and PC. November 18th for WiiU.

Let me preface this post by saying I am a huge James Bond fan. I believe James Bond is the greatest superhero of all time. And I will gladly defend that statement to the death! Anyway, back on point.

007 Legends is the retelling of classic James Bond films set in modern times with Daniel Craig reprising his role as Bond. In this brand new mission trailer for “Goldfinger” we get a nice little taste of what this games has to offer. Now I’ve been burnt in the past by Bond games, but the most recent one (Goldeneye 007) on the Xbox was great! It juts needed some more server support. This trailer gets me VERY excited for this game. Take a look!

007 Legends ships October 16th on Xbox and PS3. It’s WiiU release is TBA.

The first in a series of Island Survival videos, “Welcome to The Rook Islands” gives us a brief introduction on who we will be running into and where we will run into them in FarCry 3. Take a peak with me at this little snippet below.

FarCry 3 ships in North America on December 4th on Xbox, PS3 and PC.

With Black Ops II release date quickly approaching, TreyArch really have been putting all their best efforts into making this a quality game. Check out what the Xbox 360 and PS3 owners can expect inside the Collectors “Care Package” edition of the game.

What you can expect inside of this grandiose box:

Telltale Games very successful narrative driven, pseudo point-and-click adventure game, “The Walking Dead” gets its second episode release date. And it’s sooner than you think.

Xbox players can dive into “Episode 2: Starved for Help” TODAY! Whereas PS3 and PC players have to wait until Friday.

This episode takes up three months after the end of the first one. Your character, Lee Everett and whomever he befriended and saved, have been held up in a motel that they have barricaded up in. Food has officially run out and more survivors are approaching the stronghold.

Data collected from players decisions will help Telltale craft upcoming episodes. I myself just finished the first episode a few hours ago. This is the first time in a LONG while that a narrative in a game has driven me to keep playing. I particularly enjoy the relationship mechanic in this game. You meetup with some characters early on and have to explain your relationship with a small girl. You can tell the truth or choose from a couple of lies. You decide what sounds right. Then you have to keep the lies or truth up throughout the game, and some characters may try to break holes in your story. Another cool feature I liked was the ally system. In heated arguments between two NPCs, you can interject and weather or not if you chose to defend them they will remember your choices. Their loyalty to you will depend on how you choose to interact with them. Couple that with some pretty fucked up decisions you have to make, the story is truly customized to your choices.

The story is great, and I really felt like my decisions meant something.

Check out the official website for the game HERE

You can buy the season pass for STEAM HERE

Check out the episode 2 trailer below. Bare in mind that your choices in the game affect the contents of the trailer (you see this at the end of episode 1). This one I am showing you is drastically different from the one I got.

Geekscape writers Scott Alminiana and Shawn Madden join me on this Geekscapepod to talk through a few things! Green Lantern and Nightwing are going gay in Justice League XXX 3D! Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is NOT cancelled… we think! Shawn recommends the Netflix Instant indie “Boy Wonder”! Play as Stan Lee in new Amazing Spider-Man preorder DLC! Monster University gets a trailer! More info on Geekscape at SDCC! And we say how much we love Geekscapist Xan!

You thought it was over? It can’t be over! Doom 3 was just the warm up fight! Return to Doom 3 October 16th!

Bethesda is releasing a re-tuned and refined edition of Doom 3. Notable improvements include: The Resurrection of Evil DLC, Seven new levels titled “The Lost Missions”, Tighter controls, New checkpoint system that allows for more fluid gameplay, enhanced graphics and visuals optimized for 3D on PS3 and XBOX.

The most important addition. The one that I think all fans of Doom and Doom 3 will LOVE.

ARMOR MOUNTED FLASHLIGHT!

Now you can light the darkness and shoot AT THE SAME TIME! If you are a player of the original Doom 3 then you should be jumping for joy right now. The most downloaded mod for the first released Doom was the Duct Tape Mod that let you use the flashlight and the gun at the same time.

Doom 3 BFG also includes Doom 1 and Doom 2. It hits store shelves October 16th.

My wife Laura joins me on this episode to talk about the difference between the Resident Evil and Underworld films, talk fictitious characters we’d like to bang and George W Bush’s cameo in Game of Thrones. I also review Beasts of the Southern Wild, Lego Batman 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man on 3DS and Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtles gets delayed! Finally Disney might be bringing Marvel to theme parks and we both pretend we’re eating at the late 90s Marvel restaurant… that really existed! Eat up!
