Briefly: So I’m not a big toy guy. I have no problem throwing dozens of dollars down on comic books each week, and while I can appreciate those that collect toys (and can definitely appreciate the figures themselves), I have a hard time bringing myself to spending a ton of money on something that’s just going to sit on a shelf (as opposed to the pieces of paper that I buy that sit in boxes for years).

With all of the incredible toy announcements this year, however, I feel like that’s about to change. Disney Infinity 2.0 almost got me. Amiibo’s are going to destroy my wallet, and I’m definitely going to throw down for at least a few of the McFarlane Building Sets, but New York Comic-Con saw the announcement of a figure I’ll gladly display with pride.

The Walking Dead‘s Clementine, possibly one of the best video game characters ever, is getting a fantastic figure from McFarlane Toys.

Details are still slim at this point, including pricing and release dates, but Telltale has noted that “Exclusively from Skybound, the Clem figure will be available in both Full Color and in Blood Splattered Color versions and comes with backpack, pistol, and hammer.”

We’ll take one of each, please. Take a look at the first two images of the figure below, and let us know if you’ll be picking one up. For Clementine!

With the upcoming season of The Walking Dead just around the corner, AMC has partnered with University of California, Irvine to offer a new class called Society, Science, Survival: Lessons from AMC’s The Walking Dead.

Faculty members of the university will take turns lecturing students virtually, including experts in the Social Sciences, Physics, Astronomy, Public Health, and Mathematics. Each professor will combine their knowledge with what would really happen in an apocalyptic setting.

Each class will take place the Monday after each The Walking Dead episode, and will include discussion of the show as well. The lecturers will have access to the cast of the series to add another twist on the classes.

While tied into the show, this class will tackle real-life scenarios that include lessons on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, social order and structure, public health and the CDC, and many other topics.

Here is the course description from their website:

“From understanding social identities to modeling the spread of disease, this eight-week course will span key science and survival themes using AMC’s The Walking Dead as its basis. Four faculty members from the University of California, Irvine will take you on an inter-disciplinary academic journey deep into the world of AMC’s The Walking Dead

This program is serious. It even comes with student standards:

At the end of this course, you will be able to:
• Describe how infectious diseases—like a zombie epidemic—spread and are managed
• Apply various models of society and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs to existing and     emerging societies as a means for understanding human behavior
• Analyze existing social roles and stereotypes as they exist today and in an emerging world
• Debate the role of public health organizations in society
• Describe how mathematical equations for population dynamics can be used to study disease spread and interventions
• Apply concepts of energy and momentum appropriately when analyzing collisions and other activities that either inflict or prevent damage
• Summarize multiple methods for managing stress in disaster situations

I, for one, have already signed up for the class, which starts October 14th, the day after the season premiere, and ends December 20th. And if you don’t really enjoy school, you might be happy to learn the class isn’t graded.
Come back for updates from Dennis on the class and what they’re learning, starting October 15th.

November 13th is rapidly approaching and the folks over at Treyarch have just let loose the info on the included Zombies minigame that comes included with Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, and it is a HUGE minigame. Take a look at the trailer below.

Besides that rad as hell trailer we got a stack of info. The newest incarnation of Zombies is bigger and better than ever. We get a semi-open world environment where players get to explore it on their own accord. Players are given a bus and a roadmap of survival, and get to go about it in their own way. I am very pumped for this!

Call Of Duty: Black Ops II ships November 18th on XBOX, PS3 and PC. November 18th for WiiU.

The first in a series of Island Survival videos, “Welcome to The Rook Islands” gives us a brief introduction on who we will be running into and where we will run into them in FarCry 3. Take a peak with me at this little snippet below.

FarCry 3 ships in North America on December 4th on Xbox, PS3 and PC.

EA are about to send Isaac Clark through hell again. If you’re unfamiliar with the series… ‘Dead Space’ is a third person survival horror. The game puts the player in control of engineerIsaac Clark, who battles “Necromorphs”, monsters created from corpses and an alien virus. The game was followed up by ‘Dead Space 2’. Set three years after the events after the last games events… the game follow’s protagonist Isaac Clarke’s fight against a new Necromorph outbreak on the Sprawl, a space city above Saturn’s largest moon.

Well now it seems we are about to see it taken to a whole new level.

According to the Dead Space Twitter the following has been revealed:

– ‘Dead Space 3’ will feature Tau Volantis, an ice planet where Isaac must battle brutal, subzero conditions and deadly enemies

-Dead Space 3 will give you the option of playing drop-in drop-out co-op with a friend playing as merciless soldier John Carver

UPDATE: The teaser trailer has hit and here it is!

My guest this episode is author Matt Mogk, the head of the Zombie Research Society. Even if you’re not into zombies, this is a pretty fascinating episode. Matt talks about the origins of the modern day zombie, what the best zombie movies are and how to really survive a zombie apocalypse. And then Matt proceeds to scare the hell out of everyone by talking about what would actually happen in a zombie apocalypse and how close we might actually be to it happening! Plus! A free song from our friends in Punchline!
