Briefly: E3 sure made me glad that I own an Xbox One.

Sure, the thing is collecting dust right now, but there are some phenomenal titles coming down the pipeline, and the Xbox One exclusive Inside may be one of the most exciting.

The game comes from Limbo creator Playdead, and it retains a similar, dark, creepy art style, while adding a whole ‘nother dimension. If it’s anything like Limbo, get ready to die… a lot.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Inside is set to launch in early 2015.

Briefly: Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101 developer Platinum Games announced their next title today, and it’s an Xbox One exclusive actioner called Scalebound.

The trailer looks pretty Monster Hunter inspired, though our hero looks to be able to transform in and out of his armour. This one looks like you’ll actually be able to have monster buddies, however, as the trailer reveals that one of these guys is actually on our hero’s side.

Take a look at the Scalebound trailer below, and let us know what you think! We’ll be sure to fill you in on anything more that we hear about the title.

http://youtu.be/C7IxFtVuZwg

The next great adventure from critically-acclaimed developer PlatinumGames and renowned Game Director Hideki Kamiya, Scalebound transports you to a distant, hostile world. You’ll come face to face with fearsome creatures, including a formidable dragon—and the bond you forge with this awesome predator will prove crucial to the survival of both worlds.

Briefly: Officially revealed with a teaser trailer back in March, Ubisoft debuted an awesome co-op demo of Assassin’s Creed Unity at today’s Microsoft press conference (which SJ and Jonathan covered here).

Here’s what Ubisoft had to say about the title:

Assassin’s Creed Unity reinvents the franchise, starting with the core gameplay pillars that have defined the series from the beginning: navigation, stealth and combat. Players will carve their way through a stunning, full-scale open-world Paris, thanks to the power of the new Anvil engine, rebuilt from the ground up for new generation consoles. Assassin’s Creed Unity gives players full control parkour mechanics, a reinvented fighting system for a richer combat experience, a new stealth mode, cover system and crowd manipulation techniques. Players can channel their inner Assassin, customizing weapons, equipment, outfits and specialized skills to match their play style.

In addition to the sprawling single-player campaign, players can join with up to three friends and take part in story-driven online co-op missions designed specifically for Assassins to play together. Skills and unique gear acquired in the single-player missions will be accessible in co-op and will define a player’s personalized Assassin’s style, whether emphasizing brute force, agility or stealth. Players also will select a unique co-op skill that will help the team survive, evade or fight more effectively to the benefit of the team.

The developer released an official co-op video today, and even though it’s been quite some time since I’ve played an Assassin’s Creed title, I cannot wait to check out this multiplayer. This is exactly what I imagined when the first game released. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Assassin’s Creed Unity hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28th.

Briefly: Just like Mirror’s Edge, today’s Star Wars Battlefront preview was mostly filled with behind-the-scenes footage of lucky people visiting Lucasfilm archives and set locations in researching of the new game. They talk of just how emotional an experience this development is, and how DICE is working hard to make Star Wars Battlefront as great as it possibly could be.

It also features a few gorgeous pieces of in-engine footage, which you absolutely need to see. The end of the trailer says that we’ll see (see, not play) more in Spring 2015, insinuating that Star Wars Battlefront is a long way off.

Take a look at the new preview below, and let us know how excited you are to jump back into this world.

Briefly: Activision today debuted a new gameplay trailer for this November’s highly anticipated Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

The game was first revealed with a Kevin Spacey-starring trailer a few weeks back. Today’s nine-minute video takes us into the game’s “Induction” campaign level, which follows a group of US Marines as they drop into the battle lines of Seoul, South Korea.

I’m not really a Call of Duty fan, but this looks pretty cool. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think. The game hits every console ever (not really) on November 4th.

Briefly: Just like the company revealed yesterday, the new Mirror’s Edge was totally talked about at this year’s EA press conference (check out Juan’s awesome coverage of the event here). It wasn’t exactly in the manner that we hoped, however, as it didn’t really include any real footage or a release date, and was instead mostly composed of developers and designers speaking of what they’re trying to achieve with the new game.

In any case, it’s still pretty damned cool. I was a huge fan of Mirror’s Edge all the way back in 2008, and I’ll eat up every tidbit that EA offers.

Take a look at the behind-the-scenes video below, and let us know what you think! Mirror’s Edge will release… one day.

Briefly: Following the first trailer from a couple weeks back, HBO has just debuted another preview for its upcoming myster/drama series, The Leftovers, which is based on a rapture novel by Tom Perrotta and will also act as Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof’s return to TV (Lost’s other showrunner, Carlton Cuse, has already returned with the fantastic Bates Motel).

I think that this may be next next TV addiction. The Leftovers looks hugely mysterious (much like Lost, which I miss to this day), creepy as hell, and just damned interesting.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think. The Leftovers premieres on HBO June 29th.

Briefly: Hell yes.

At EA’s E3 press conference all the way back in June of last year, the company surprised everyone with the announcement of a sequel to Mirror’s Edge, the incredible, yet incredibly underplayed first-person parkour title from 2008.

Since that day, we’ve heard exactly nothing.

We were all left wondering if (and hoping that) the title would make an appearance at this year’s expo, and EA has just confirmed this via a teaser image and the #E32014 hashtag on their Facebook page. Take a look at the image below:

MirrorsEdge2

I was a huge fan of the first game, and I’m incredibly excited for the sequel. How about you?

Be sure to check back tomorrow for Live Blogs of each press conference, and for all of the news straight from the show floor!

Briefly: It’s been nearly two weeks since director Edgar Wright left Ant-Man over creative differences with Marvel, and the studio has now announced his replacement.

It seems as though it was tough for Marvel to find a director to take over the project, as a myriad of names apparently declined, but we now have a yes man in Yes Man director Peyton Reed. Here’s the announcement from Marvel:

When Marvel’s “Ant-Man” hits theaters July 17, 2015, director Peyton Reed will help shepherd the hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cast led by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, with writer Adam McKay contributing to the film’s script.

So apparently all this chaos still hasn’t changed the film’s release date, and the script will also received further rewrites by Step Brothers writer Adam McKay.

A new synopsis for the film also hit the web today, so take a look at that below, and let us know what you think of the announcement.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Briefly: It seems as though everyone is releasing E3 trailers long before the show floor opens on Monday, and Oddworld Inhabitants have followed suit, debuting a gorgeous new look at Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty.

The ‘rebuilt from the ground up’ reimagining of 1997’s Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee has been in the works for quite some time (like 2010), and rumour has it that we’ll finally be seeing its release date at E3 next week. The game looks beautiful, and since I missed out on the classic the first time around, I really can’t wait to get my hands on this.

Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty will launch on Windows, OS X, Linux, Wii U, PS3, PS4, and PS Vita. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up!

Briefly: Monster Hunter is making the jump to iOS!

Capcom revealed its E3 lineup today, and among the games included is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Details on the port are still fairly scarce, but the trailer (watch it below) states that the game will include touch controls for optimized hunting (which actually look quite usable), automatic monster tracking, pop-up icons for easy gathering, optimized visuals, online co-op for up to four players, and more.

I jumped into Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U earlier this year, and while the game has a steep learning curve, it’s an absolute blast. The game is addicting as hell, and I can’t wait to play it on the go (for those times that I don’t have my 3DS on me).

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear more!

Briefly: We’re beyond excited for Matt Reeve’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and today (via IGN) Fox debuted the film’s best poster yet.

In ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’, a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

You can take a look at the new poster below, and let us know if you’re excited! Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theatres on July 11th. Need to see that awesome trailer again? Take a look here.

Briefly: Guillermo Del Toro’s The Strain is just a month away from premiere, and FX has finally given us a trailer that’s more than a few seconds long.

The Strain is a high-concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

The footage looks great, and we really can’t wait to see more. Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know what you think! The series premieres on July 13th!

Briefly: Chronicle and the new The Fantastic Four director Josh Trank has just found his next film.

A few weeks back, LucasFilm announced that Godzilla director Gareth Edwards would helm one of the planned Star Wars spinoff films, and today Trank was tapped to direct another. Unlike Edwards’ film, we don’t know when this one is slated to hit theatres, and just like Edwards’ film, we have no idea who this one’s about.

Here’s the announcement, straight from StarWars.com:

In addition to the episodes of a new Star Wars trilogy, Lucasfilm and Disney continue development of multiple stand-alone movies that will offer new stories beyond the core Saga. The newest director to come on board is Josh Trank.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family,” says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. “He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”

Trank states, “The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time.”

Trank captured imaginations worldwide with his critically lauded directorial debutChronicle, a fresh and engaging take on the superhero genre. Trank is currently at work on The Fantastic Four for 20th Century Fox.

What do you think of Trank taking on one of these films? Which character do you hope he focusses on? Sound out below!

Briefly: The game was (disappointingly) delayed to 2015 last month, but we’re still excited as hell for Techland’s Dead Island follow-up, Dying Light.

The developer today launched a brand new gameplay trailer for the game, which showcases the game’s Natural Movement system, letting players combine parkour-style movement with brutal combat.

It’s easy to see from this new video (and the previously released ones) that this game is coming together nicely. I was a big fan of Techland’s previous effort, Dead Island (despite its issues), and Dying Light is certainly one of my most anticipated titles of 2015 Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know how excited you are for this one! Dying Light will hit PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC next year!

Briefly: Star Wars: Episode VII set photos have been leaking all over the place (we haven’t been posting them out of respect to the production). Disney and most everyone involved in the production are likely irate at this fact, and today director J.J. Abrams tweeted out a fantastic, tongue-in-cheek response to the culprit(s):

AbramsStarWars

Fans will notice that the note is sitting on top of the Holochess board from the Millennium Falcon, which we saw being built in those photos a couple days back.

Star Wars: Episode VII stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker, Lupita Nyong’o, and Gwendoline Christie, and will hit theatres on December 18th, 2015.

Briefly: Wachowski fans, looks like you’ve got some time to wait for their next project, as Jupiter Ascending has been delayed until 2015.

The film was pushed from its original July 18th release date to February 6th of next year. The studio states that the film still requires extensive special effects work, and that “With the July release date, they were just not going to make it on time.”

The film stars Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Sean Bean, Douglas Booth, and plenty of others, so be sure to let us know if you’re looking forward to the flick, and what you think of the delay.

Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

From the streets of Chicago to far flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” is written and directed by the Wachowskis. Award-winning producer Grant Hill, with whom they have collaborated since “The Matrix” Trilogy, is producing, together with Lana Wachowski and Andy Wachowski. Roberto Malerba and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.

Briefly: Despite still not having an Ant-Man director after Edgar Wright’s shocking departure last month, Marvel may have found its Doctor Strange helmer in Insidious director Scott Derrickson.

Variety reports that talks are still early, but a deal is expected to be announced soon. Derrickson pretty much confirmed things himself with this tweet earlier this afternoon:

Do you think Derrickson is a good choice for the project? Is there anyone else you’d rather see in the director’s chair? Sound out below! Doctor Strange is still without a release date, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as more information is revealed!

Strange

Briefly: If you’ve written off the Brett Ratner directed, Dwayne Johnson starring Hercules up to this point, you should definitely give it another chance. The second trailer for the film has just hit the web, and it’s even cooler than the first!

The Rock looks great, the creatures look great, and we can’t wait to see more.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think. Hercules stars Dwayne Johnson, Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan, John Hurt, Rebecca Ferguson, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Aksel Hennie, and Reece Ritchie, and hits theatres on July 25th.

Briefly: It’s a bittersweet day for those of us looking forward to Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight, as today the developer launched a new teaser showcasing the game’s Batmobile in an awesome looking battle mode… but we also learned that the game has been delayed to 2015.

AAA delays seem like a weekly occurrence these days; just last week, both The Order: 1886 and The Evil Within saw similar moves.

Take a look at the trailer below, and look for more Batman: Arkham Knight at next week’s E3. Batman: Arkham Knight will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime next year.

Briefly: Following the trailer released last month, NBC today announced the premiere date of their upcoming Vertigo adaptation, Constantine.

The series will premiere on Friday, October 24th in the 10PM timeslot, following their other supernatural hit, Grimm.

Haven’t seen the trailer? You can take another look at the video below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the premiere, and what you think of our new John Constantine!

http://youtu.be/uPE2oBnzROY

CONSTANTINE follows enigmatic and irreverent Liverpool con-man-turned-occult-detective John Constantine, who is reluctantly thrust into the role of defending our world against dark forces from beyond.

Briefly: The already expansive cast of J.J. Abrams Star Wars: Episode VII has just added two more.

The cast was lacking in female stars, but Disney has announced that Academy Award winner and 12 Years A Slave star Lupita Nyong’o and Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie have joined the project in unspecified roles.

“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,” says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. “It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”

Star Wars: Episode VII will hit theatres on December 18th, 2015. What do you think of the latest additions?

Briefly: Our pals over at Legendary just announced a great new partnership, and a trio of new titles for the Legendary Comics imprint.

The company has entered into an exclusive multi-year sales and distribution agreement with Penguin Random House Publisher Services, that will service Legendary to the book trades.

“We want to deliver great comics, and this new agreement with Penguin Random House enables us to be much more effective in bringing our stories to readers. We are very excited by this new venture,” said David Sadove of Legendary’s Publishing Operations.

Jeff Abraham, President of Penguin Random House Publisher Services, added “Legendary is known for creating some of the most popular films of the past decade. We’re excited to partner with Legendary Comics and to help grow their publishing unit into a thriving participant in the graphic novel market.”

That’s cool, but we’re more excited for new titles, and as mentioned, Legendary just announced three of them:

A Town Called Dragon : Modern-day America and ancient mythology collide when the last dragon egg finally hatches, and an ordinary group of citizens must unite to defeat it. The book will be written by Judd Winick and drawn by Geoff Shaw. This one will launch in September 2014.

Epochalypse : When a mysterious space-time phenomenon causes 600 years of human history to collapse into a single era, an elite team of Resynchronization officers must wage a war against the very laws of time. Epochalypse is written by Jonathan Hennessey and drawn by Shane Davis and will launch in Fall 2014.

The Harvester: A supernatural suspense story unfolds when two rebellious investigators discover that the nightmarish urban legend of “The Harvester” is more real – and more dangerous – than they ever imagined. The Harvester is written by Brandon Seifert, drawn by Eric Battle, and will release in 2015.

Well be sure to share more info on each project as soon as we have it!

Briefly: The next instalment in the Mortal Kombat franchise has officially been revealed.

Developer NetherRealm Studios debuted a CG announcement trailer for the game today, which was quickly followed with official word from Warner Bros. Mortal Kombat X will make its “first public appearance” at E3 next week, and will launch for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC in 2015.

You can take a look at the cool-looking announcement trailer, which features Scorpion and Sub-Zero duking it out in a wonderfully atmospheric forest below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: We got our first peek at Thanos in the mid-credits scene of last year’s The Avengers, and it appears as though we’re about to see a lot more of the character (especially if Del Toro’s The Collector is assembling the Infinity Gauntlet).

Latino-Review broke the news, which was later confirmed by Variety, that Josh Brolin will join the Marvel cinematic universe as Thanos. Like Rocket Racoon and Groot, it’ll likely be a voice-only performance, but he’s set to appear in (at least) both Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

What do you think of the casting choice? Is there another actor you’d rather have seen in the role? Sound out below, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more.

Briefly: I’ve been looking forward to playing Marvel Heroes since it was revealed all the way back in 2012… but I’m a Mac user, so I have unfortunately been missing out on the title all this time.

That’s all set to change on June 4th with the launch of Marvel Heroes 2015, and the debut of the Mac open beta.

The team is planning a massive anniversary celebration, and has also “come a very long way” since the game’s original launch.

Gazillion CEO David Brevak states that “Marvel Heroes 2015 nicely represents everything we have accomplished and intend to accomplish with one name. We’ve come a very long way since our original launch a year ago, and the now imminent release of Marvel Heroes 2015 alongside our massive anniversary celebrations marks the beginning of something even better.

Whether it’s defending the X-Mansion or recruiting your favorite superhero as a Team-Up, we’re excited to continue delivering on our community’s expectations. We truly believe we put more improvements into our game than any other iterative release out there. The 2015 moniker reaffirms our commitment to keep doing it.”

You can take a look at the first teaser for Marvel Heroes 2015 below, and learn more about the Mac beta here! Have you played Marvel Heroes? Is it worth checking out? Let us know!

Briefly: Telltale today announced that The Walking Dead seasons one and two, as well as The Wolf Among Us will make the jump to PS4 and Xbox One later this year.

The retail versions of each game will release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Telltale hasn’t revealed whether or not the PS4 and Xbox One editions will feature any enhancements, but we’ll be sure to update you when we find out.

Have you been playing Telltale’s latest? What are your thoughts so far? Sound out below!

Briefly: This looks absolutely gorgeous.

Fox has just released the first trailer for The Book of Life, which was produced by Guillermo Del Toro (if you couldn’t tell by the super-Spanish stylings and Ron Perlman’s involvement), directed by first-timer Jorge R. Gutierrez, and stars Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Danny Trejo, Christina Applegate, Ron Perlman, and plenty of others.

The film follows “the journey of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. Rich with a fresh take on pop music favourites, The Book of Life encourages us to celebrate the past while looking forward to the future.

The animation here is really beautiful, and we can’t wait to see more. Take a look at the first trailer for The Book of Life below, and let us know what you think! The film hits theatres on October 17th!

Briefly: A few weeks back, Nintendo gave word that it had partnered with PDP to develop an officially licensed GameCube-styled classic controller for the Wii U launch of Smash Bros.

Today, they took it one step further. The big N has just revealed a GameCube controller adapter for the Wii U. You simply plug the adapter into your Wii U’s front USB ports, and then plug in up to four GameCube controllers into the adapter.

There’s been no word yet if it’ll work with Wii U titles other than Smash Bros., or if it’ll support the WaveBird (though why wouldn’t it), so we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more. Will you be picking up an adapter? Do you hope that Nintendo starts selling GameCube controllers again too? Sound out below!

Briefly: We were sure that it was coming eventually, and now it’s official: PopCap’s excellent Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is Playstation bound.

PopCap’s Brian Lindley took to the Playstation Blog to make the announcement this morning. Here’s what he had to say:

Ever since we announced Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare at E3 last year, we’ve frequently heard the question: “When is PvZ Garden Warfare coming to PlayStation?” I’m ecstatic to finally be able to answer that question, as we’ve just announced that PvZ Garden Warfare is coming to PS3 and PS4 on August 19th, 2014! PlayStation fans will also be able to experience the Garden Variety and Zomboss Down expansion content from day one.

Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare is a crazy fun third-person shooter built in the Frostbite 3 engine. Team up with up to four players in the wave-based Garden Ops game mode or take to the battlefield in 24-player battles full of tactical action! As you play you will unlock new abilities, customizations, taunts and much more.

We’re especially excited for fans to experience Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare on PS4, where it will be playable at a native 1080p resolution and blazing fast 60 frames per second. Additionally, PvZ Garden Warfare on PS4 will also be playable via Remote Play on the PS Vita, giving players the option to take the fun of PvZ Garden Warfare on the go. For support-minded players, the popular Boss Mode feature will also be playable as a companion experience on mobile devices via the PlayStation App. Lastly but certainly not least, split screen co-op will be available on PS4.

Shooters are about to get weird on PlayStation, we look forward to playing Garden Warfare will all of you this August!

The game is a must-play in my opinion, and I’ve put far more hours into it than shooters like Titanfall. It’s weird, it’s quirky, it’s cute, and totally addicting. You can take a look at the dev diary below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this up on August 19th!
