‘Welcome to Wrexham’ is back for a new season! The show that highlights the oldest football club in Wales and the 3rd oldest professional football team in the world, has launched it’s second season on September 13th on FX, streaming on Hulu.

For those of you who don’t know what Welcome to Wrexham is – this is what FX says it’s about – “Welcome to Wrexham is a docuseries tracking the dreams and worries of Wrexham, a working-class town in North Wales, UK, as two Hollywood stars take ownership of the town’s historic yet struggling footballclub.” Those two Hollywood stars that has increased the visibility of this football club are Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool and The Proposal). It’s about an underdog team that is fighting to get back up on top.

The first season focused on the rebuilding of the team, and introduced the viewers and new fans to the players, the various transfers that occurred, and the building of the staff that Rob and Ryan are in charge of. This show is for the people who are fans of that good underdog story and these men who are in charge of it, who bought the Wrexham Red Dragons, have no knowledge of football and have never worked together. The first season took us through the highs and lows of the winning and losing, the hope that they can get out of the 5th tier of football and get promoted. The first season ended with the devastating reality that they were so close, they could taste it, but to actually have their cake would have to wait. The promotion into a new league would have to wait.

The second season opens with the pressure of being so close and not succeeding in that promotion. The stakes for the second season of Welcome for Wrexham is that they have to get promoted or else the morale of the community might just bottom out. There is the acknowledgment that they have grown their fan base, they have grown more visibily, and the pressure of that, if they don’t succeed is monumental.

The first episode of the second season takes the viewers on a journey starting at the very beginning, with a match against Eastleigh; the match ended with a 2-1 win for Wrexham. Even with one match under their belt of the new season, this put the Red Dragons on and upward trajectory. The second goal of the season is to earn enough funding to move forward with the renovations to the club, including the reconstruction of the seating area that was in much need for a remodel. The audience will assumably go through the football season with the team, taking note of the wins and losses, and ultimately see if they get out of the league they were in.

Take a look at the season trailer and let us know what you think!

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! (I really hope you are hearing that announcers voice when saying Sunday 3 times in your head!) I hadn’t actually scheduled anything for Sunday, so I kinda figured it would just be a day of wandering the floor, lookin around, and not really having anything to write about. Welp, I was wrong.

Sunday did start off pretty chill, having a coffee in the lobby of the hotel so I could catch up on writing and not be distracted by wanting to hang with our posse. When I did decide to mosey over to the convention centre it was well past the early morning crush of standing in line for an hour to just get in the building. As I casually strolled in, I immediately started coming across the most amazing cosplay. I easily hung out in the lobby for a couple hours just snapping pics of all these amazing outfits. So keep an eye on our Instagram @geekscapeforever over the next couple months to see what I found, and here are a few of my favourites!

@fellowhermit As Faun from Pans Labyrinth
@claire.e.rose As Eleven from Stranger Things season 3
@cosplaymom99 as Carl Fredricksen from Up
@magnetomystique as Mystique from X-men

Once I’d had my fill of cosplay and Derek tracked me down, we decided to check out the harbour side area of the convention centre, to grab a street meat and enjoy the salty windy air, before it was time to go to the FX area to experience the newest American Horror Story activation. This visit with FX was a last minute gig for us so it hadn’t really been on my radar, but I am sooo glad I got to experience it. Hard to say what my top experience was, but this definitely falls into my top 3!

The FX set up was pretty sweet. It was all on the lawn between a hotel and the back of the convention centre, in these big white irregularly shaped structures that kind of formed a circular central area. In addition to American Horror Story they had an It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia sunscreen station, which I didn’t use soon enough 🥵, an Archer oxygen bar, a Mayans temporary tattoo trailer, a Fox swing station, and a What We Do in the Shadows vampire house.

We sampled some flavoured oxygen, which allowed you to switch between various fruity smells for you to enjoy through the nasal prongs pumping O2 into your face. That was a weird experience! Derek wasn’t able to tell the difference at all and said it just smelled like plastic, so we’ve decided in addition to his colour blindness, he also has oxygen smell blindness.

We then headed into the American Horror Story: 1984 area, where you and 6 other people walk into a camp councillor’s office as the new recruits, and are greeted by the friendliest and most enthusiastic camp running guy you’ve ever met! The room is set up as the perfect picture of what I imagine a camp office would be in the 80’s, with a CB radio, a rolodex filled with marked business cards, a dart board on the wall and some mounted canoe paddles. Within moments, you start to hear another camp councillor over the radio panicking that something has gone horribly wrong out there in the woods.

The friendly old man leaves to solve the problem and we are left with a bubbly ditzy terrified camp councillor, sporting the perfectly crimped hair (in a side pony) and bubblegum pink lipstick. Shortly after we all run out into the woods, which is legit terrifying, it’s so hard to see anything, there are trees everywhere and I wanted to hold onto the stranger in front of me so I wouldn’t get lost in the forest (it’s mind boggling to me that they can create an atmosphere that feels so real and creepy that I was legit scared of getting separated from our group)!

As we are rounding a corner to get into the shelter of a cabin, a man with a balaclava emerged from the bushes and started heading our way. I don’t remember the last time I was so legitimately scared by something that I knew logically was all a ruse!? I’m pretty sure I tried to push past people so that I could be further away from him.

Once in the cabin we had to search for a key, and then were instructed to hide in a closet which turned into a long hallway, while the scary tall man continued to stalk toward us. As we ran down the hallway hands were coming out near the ground and grabbing onto our legs. Once at the end of the hall we managed to close a door and lock ourselves in another room as the masked man almost reached us. At which time lights flashed and a chain saw began to cut through the wall.

Turns out the lights flashing was actually a photo being taken, which managed to capture the back of my head as I both turned away from the lights to avoid what ever terror that was about, while nervously inspecting the closed door behind me sure that the masked man was about to burst in!

I can not give this activation enough praise! It was absolutely immersive, I was on edge (or terrified) the entire time and convinced that I was deep in some creepy camp woods. This experience has me well ready to get back into watching AHS when 1984 premieres this September .

Once we finally escaped from that horror, and took a minute to recovery and laugh our faces off, we headed over to the What We Do in the Shadows installation.

For Shadows you go through an elaborate door and enter into the living space of two Vampires. The space consists of dark Victorian era decorations, making up a bar area and two little living areas, with a photo opportunity in one corner. I’m not sure if the two Vampires in this place were actual characters from the show, but either way they were right on point with the shows humour! They were improvising like nobodies business with such amazing dry humour, working off of each other, as well as the visitors. Just standing around watching them bicker at each other was perfect! Once again I have another show to put on the list as a must watch!

We got out of FX shortly before their activation shut down for the day at 2pm, and finally it was time for me to try to walk the convention floor!

Almost as soon as we got in the building I wanted to escape. My previous experience of conventions has taught me that the final day of the show is usually a lot more chill than the rest of them. Oh how very wrong I was. We headed into artist alley, and I swear I couldn’t actually see any artists or their art cause there were so many freaking people!

We did manage to walk most of the show floor, but I really didn’t feel like I saw that much, and it definitely wasn’t very enjoyable. It’s so stressful trying to even move, and if you want to stop and look at something or god forbid change directions, well you better be ready for a trampling!

I managed to find my way back to Daniel Danger’s booth, where I got to meet the artist himself. He was so lovely and open, sharing with the people in the booth the meaning behind some of the quotes on his prints and what the art represents to him. He was willing to talk about mental health and some of the struggles he has faced. It was so amazing and refreshing to meet someone you admire, and have them be so kind, honest, and vulnerable. Honestly he is so talented and I am such a fan he had the opportunity to be snooty and above it all, but was the most approachable stranger I met all weekend.

Daniel Danger and I, with a backdrop of his amazing work!

After much deliberation I picked a print for my self and went on my way. About ten minutes later while searching for a gift for Derek’s dad I realized Danger had done a print of Batman standing on top of a Blockbuster building and it would be the perfect gift for Derek’s dad. His dad is into comics and super heroes, and pretty much every conversation I’ve ever heard Derek and his dad have has started with ‘So have you seen (insert movie title here) yet?’, plus we are both huge fans of Danger, so this seemed like it would be the perfect meaningful gift.

“i’m sorry again for everything i’ve been”

We rushed back to the booth only to find that the spot where these prints had been was now filled by something else. Knowing there had only been 2 left I was sure we had missed our opportunity, but upon asking discovered they were sitting underneath the new print, PHEW! We asked him to write a note to Derek’s dad to which he agreed and then proceeded to write the most hilarious little love note from father to son. I’m stoked. What a great experience, and lovely gift. Maybe sometimes it is ok to meet your heroes 🙂 (Now we just have to cross our fingers that it makes it home on the plane!)

Shortly after that, SDCC 2019 came to an end. Our posse gathered at the Geekscape booth and took a final group shot before immediately heading to Old Spaghetti Factory for a much anticipated (by Matt and Derek) final meal! After which we broke down the booth, said goodbye to Gui and headed to the hotel for a much needed hot tubbin! What a time!

#GeekscapeForever. (Sorry Matt, I had to use the lifeless ventriloquist dummy photo, cause it’s just too good!)

Overall I had an amazing time at my first SDCC! The activations were amazing, everything felt like a spectacle, the floor was huge, the variety insane, the literal amount of different entertainment and products to consume were absolutely baffling. Some of these things were a double edged sword which left me with a little FOMO, such as being so I busy I didn’t end up getting to any panels, the crowds made wandering the floor less enjoyable, and getting your hands on many of the exclusive exciting SDCC products next to impossible. But the incredible experience of getting to see premieres while seated next to their stars, being immersed in the worlds of various tv shows, meeting new and interesting people, eating yummy food, and getting to meet and spend time with the Geekscape team, all of these far outweighed the drawbacks.

Thanks for following along with my journey. Keep an eye on the site for more in depth looks at a few of the things we got up to while at SDCC. And remember to follow @geekscapeforever on Instagram to catch some of the sweet cosplay we saw on this crazy journey!

Xoxo Mika!

I’m so sad that San Diego Comic-Con is already over.

The Geekscape team descended from all over (like Philadelphia and Canada) to take in, hang out at, and cover the phenomenal event. If you’ve missed our coverage so far, you can check out the brand new Geekscape.net for daily recaps from myself and Mikaela, as well as coverage on some of the amazing offsite events that we were privileged enough to attend. There’s more coming down the pipeline as well, so be sure to keep your eyes tuned right here!

Mikaela also spent hours taking photos of so much of the next-level cosplay on display at SDCC, so be sure to follow the @GeekscapeForever Instagram page for a steady stream of incredible outfits.

As I mentioned in my spot on the recent SDCC special episode of Geekscape, I feel like after seven years, as the show floor gets unfathomably busier and as the few things that you actually want to buy require more and more and more work to do so, the expo hall itself definitely begins to lose some of its lustre. What continues to amaze me, however, is the absolutely insane work that these studios and distributors put into these temporary installations. The amount of work required to build these temporary buildings and giant logos and building wraps is just unbelievable… just for them to all be torn down like they never even existed days later.

This was Monday morning. Nothing is sacred.

Over the past few years, FX has been located on the back side of the convention centre, right across from the Hilton Bayfront hotel. In previous years the offsite event has been labelled as the FXHibition, and has always featured some cool art pieces, and absolutely impressive activations based on some of FX’ flagship shows, like the mixed-reality experience for Legion in 2017, or the insanely freaky ‘Fearless VR’ for American Horror Story. Looking back on previous years (not just for FX, but for SDCC as a whole) it’s certainly interesting to note that there appeared to be very few VR-driven experiences vs. previous conventions — this time around, nearly everything was practical.

As always, this year’s event was all new, and it brought with it a new name. The FX Fearless Forum was in the same location, and featured awesome (and practical) activations for series like Archer, What We Do in the Shadows, Mayans, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and an incredible haunted house for American Horror Story: 1984. Keep scrolling for a few photos and impressions for each activation, and a description of the haunted house that basically had Mikaela peeing her pants.

The Fearless Forum seemed to have decent-length lines all of the time, but one thing that I was super thankful for was an open area where essentially anyone could just walk in and help themselves to sunscreen and hand-sanitizer. The area was themed after It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and I think it’s really nice that something super practical like sunscreen wasn’t locked behind a giant lineup, so a huge thanks to FX for this.

There was also a small setup for Mayans, that had a small trailer, a few motorcycles, and some biker-looking dudes giving airbrush tattoos to fans of the show.

Archer had a cool oxygen bar setup for Archer: 1999. I had no idea what an oxygen bar was prior to this event… and I kind of still don’t but it was a neat setup. The activation looked like a spaceship, and had a few interactive pieces around the area (and even a trivia game on some tablets, which you can also play at home using your Amazon Echo). At the bar itself there were a number of different oxygen stations. You stick a plastic tube in your nostrils (thankfully FX provided a new one for each person), and select between different ‘flavours’ of oxygen to breathe, like Piña Colada, Orange/Peach, Chocolate/Cherry, and Lavender/Balsam Fir needles. I think that my sense of smell may be nearly as bad as my sense of sight, because while Mikaela could sense a stark difference between each ‘flavour’, I was definitely struggling to tell any difference. The oxygen apparently perks you up, but I didn’t really need it, as the next activation for American Horror Story: 1984 absolutely pumps you full of energy.

The next activation was called American Horror Story: 1984 – Face The Darkness, and is basically a very impressive (and very scary) haunted house experience. Coming out of this experience, I think that it was the very best singular activation held at SDCC this year. I also thought that Face The Darkness utilized its small space so well, and that the way that the aviation weaves you through the different rooms and areas made the space feel far, far larger than it actually was. You start out with six other ‘camp counsellors in training’ in a small room filled with 1980’s paraphernalia like VHS tapes and old board games, and this marks your introduction to Camp Redwood, where you’ll be spending the next ~15 minutes (and probably much of September/October when the show airs). After a couple of moments, the lead counsellor comes in to tell you about all the training that you’re about to go through (this guy was super charismatic and kept making great dad jokes, and was even wearing the same shorts in this 1984 experience as Matt Kelly was that week), like how to use the very convenient and sophisticated night vision goggles when another counsellor bursts through the door to tell you all that something has gone terribly wrong in the forest, and that there is something out there. The lead counsellor tries to reach the camp director on the radio, and decides to go after her when he can’t. Seconds after he leaves, a terrified camp director warns us over the radio that something is in the forest and to get away while we can.

So, just like the 1980’s slasher films that the experience (and upcoming season of American Horror Story) is based on, instead of running in the opposite direction, the counsellor that’s left instead leads us into the forest (and she didn’t seem to hear me when I asked “Why don’t we bring these night vision goggles with us?” either).

So we leave the cabin, and are all of a sudden in a foggy forested area that sort of reminded me of the swamp from the DC Universe Swamp Thing activation last year. You could see a truck off in the distance, you were having to fan through branches and leaves that blocked your path, and you had no idea where counsellor was leading you. Again, we’re inside in the middle of a temporary building in the Gaslamp District of San Diego, but this forest felt real as hell. The counsellor ends up leaving us in a wrong director, and as we turn around, a tall man with his face obscured appears in the fog and begins walking towards us. The counsellor screams, Mikaela and some of the other attendees scream louder, and beginning running through some tight forested corridors towards a cabin in the distance. I’m at the back of the pack, and just as I’m about to turn each corner, I look behind me to see the tall man right there, pacing relentlessly with the classic Jason Voorhees walk.

We get into the cabin — I somehow make it through just before someone else and in their terror they nearly slam the door on my hand (it would have been worth it). Everyone is freaking out, and the camp director has taken refuge here too. She asks us what we’re doing there, and reiterates that we need to escape, and tasks us all with finding a key somewhere in the room (I’m not sure if it was to the truck outside or something else), all while the killer is outside banging on the door. After a couple of minutes, someone screams, as the killer is now crawling through the window on the opposite side of the cabin. The director tells us to all go into the closet, which ends up being a way out of the cabin, and we’re now walking through a nearly pitch-black area with people randomly grabbing at our feet (there was a lot of screaming here, naturally).

Joe Scarnici/Getty Images for FX

We finally make it to another room, where for a moment we think we’re safe, until we see that the walls are covered in bloody writing. We start looking around at what to do next, when a huge banging sound freaks everyone out even more, and when a chainsaw juts through the wall in front of us. The lights come up, everyone starts nervously laughing, and the experience is over.

We’re led into the final room, where we have our badges scanned so we can be emailed the GIF of the final jump scare, and where we could help ourselves to some AHS themed goodies.

Again, the activation freaked the hell out of everyone, and I loved every second of it. It’s still completely crazy to me that they were able to pull of such an insane, and truly scary experience in such a small space.

The other standout at the Fearless Forum was the What We Do In The Shadows lair. This was a small-ish room (with great AC) that was, naturally, a vampire’s lair. Inside there was a photo-op where you could “become” a vampire, which was cute, and the decor of the room felt just like what you’d expect from watching the series. The best part here were the two vampires that were walking around, interacting and making fun of visitors, and bickering to each other in hilarious fashion. I swear I could have watched these two all day, it was wonderful.

The general area itself also housed a few photo opportunities including some cool FX logos (one made of PVC pipes that only looked like the logo when viewed from certain angles), a giant screen that showed just what people were tweeting about the Fearless Forum, and there were even areas where you could get customized merchandise like phone cases or hats. Overall, it was another phenomenal year for FX at SDCC, and the Forum was absolutely successful, as I definitely started watching the What We Do In The Shadows series on the way home, and after a couple of years of not watching American Horror Story, the September 18th premiere of 1984 is absolutely in my calendar.

Anyone who’s familiar with me (or has listened to Geekscape Games) knows that I’m a big proponent of VR. I’ve spent the duration of the last few San Diego Comic-Con’s seeking all sorts of different virtual reality experiences, from the American Horror StoryResident Evil VII, or Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul’ experiences last year (the last link includes a video basically featuring Shane peeing his pants), to The Walking Dead, The Strain, VR Adult Films (for science), and more in years prior.

I was certainly excited to check out more virtual reality at this year’s SDCC, including Archangel, the first release from Skydance Interactive (look out for a piece about this experience later).

FX kept the ‘Mixed Reality’ experience pretty mysterious up until the point that you enter it. The press release gave essentially no info, noting only “Are you prepared to discover the deep power that exists within you? Experience the world of Legion in mixed reality, and see the universe in a whole new light.” Even the employees outside of the experience, when asked, wouldn’t tell you anything about what was in store for you.

No cameras or recording equipment were allowed inside the event, so if you’re interested to see what happened, you’ll have to read on.

Spoilers follow. You’ve been warned.

The outside of the building simply features a classy Legion logo overlaid on top of some vines, while the Mutant Gene Testing for Fox’s next upcoming X-universe series, The Gifted, continually has alarms going off just metres away. A staff member will measure your Pupillary Distance before you approach the event, which I found pretty interesting as I’ve never actually seen this happen outside of a glasses store. Once you get through the lineup, a staff member in a lab coat will bring you into a white hallway with a series of old-looking televisions and a bunch of other convention goers who are currently going through the same ‘testing’ as you are. The actress that was taking me through the experience was very serious, and said things like “Do you remember being here?”, “Do you know who you are?” and “I’m here to help you.” I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to give short answers or freak out like the real David might, so I stuck with the former.

The actress sat me down while another lab coat-donning employee brought me a headset to “help with the testing”. I didn’t realize it until later, but this would be my first experience with Microsoft’s Hololens, which was surprisingly lightweight and comfortable, and produced deep sound that felt as though I was wearing earbuds, without actually putting anything in (or all that near) my ears.

The device took me through a sort of calibration process, which had me looking at a series of triangles to start (which I imagine had something to do with calibrating my field of view), and then lifting my hand, making an “L” gesture, pinching a piece of a floating brain, and dragging it to another location. When I first saw the floating, spinning brain, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud, as it simply felt like magic. The Hololens that you wear is almost like wearing some lightly shaded sunglasses (everything has just a little bit of a darker tint to it), and beyond that, this brain was just floating in front of me before I pinched in with my fingers and, again like magic, moved it somewhere else. This, naturally, felt completely different than my previous VR experiences, in which the idea is typically to put you into the place of another person, in another world. Here, I was seeing all of the same things that I was seeing before donning the headset, and all of a sudden there were things that I could interact with floating in front of me. I couldn’t help but mutter “holy shit” under my breath, and this was just the beginning.

Another actor came out of a room in front of me in order to collect me for a sort of “interview”. I sat down, and in the room the Hololens was adding things like a Newton’ cradle, a stapler, and three face-down cards in front of me, a lamp on a bookcase behind me, a clock on one of the side walls, and a few more things that I can no longer recall. As I moved my head and shifted my body, my perspective on these items changed just as they would in real life. I really don’t know much about the Hololens or how it tracks positions, but I was really impressed here.

I sat down, and all of a sudden could hear voices all around me. I then hear Lenny from the series, who told me to focus on her voice, and told me how I could turn the other voices down (this involved making the motion of twisting an invisible volume knob in front of you. The actor in front of me then began asking me to perform tasks as a mean to learn more about my powers. I started with levitating an item on the table, before stopping the Newton’s cradle by holding my hand out in front of me, and eventually teleporting a lamp from the back wall onto the desk in front of me. These tasks all looked cool, but could be a little confusing as the gestures needed to perform each seemed to vary without explanation. At times I wasn’t sure if I was doing the wrong thing, or if I was doing the right thing and ‘using that power’ was actually just taking awhile.

The interviewer then asked me to tell him what was on the three cards on the desk. I levitated the cards, when Lenny’s voice was again in my ear, stating that she had taken over the body of the interviewer, and letting me know that these people were not trying to help me, and to go along with what was happening while she figured out how to get me out of there. I “used my powers” to see through the cards and see the symbol on the other side (pieces of the event were also voice activated, so you’d move onto the next card once you said the shape), and read them out loud.

Lenny (as the interviewer) then asks me to describe what I see in the frames on the wall. The wall art is a series of Rorschach blots, which begin to change and morph when I describe them.

I’m then told to follow her lead (again, this is all in my head, as to not alert the other person in the room), as on the count of three she’s going to get up to guide me out of the office. The interviewer stands up, comes around the table towards me, and it seems like I’m supposed to get up and follow them when all of a sudden I hear something along the lines of “They know!” or “They’re onto us!” and I’m pulled into the corner opposite the door. The other person in the room (the actress that initially took me through the calibration process was now wearing a giant, creepy paper-mâché looking mask and was headed towards me with her arms outstretched. Just as she’s about to reach me, we push through the wall (a secret door) and I’m found in another white room with more lab coat-wearing individuals to help me wrap up.

This is the experience. They help me take off the Hololens and ask me if I had fun (I did). You also have the ability to take a selfie while still wearing the headset to memorialize your (likely) first mixed-reality experience.

Aside from the sometimes clunky interactions with the objects in front of me, I was so freaking impressed by this experience. It reminded me of the first few times I tried (and was blown away by) Virtual Reality, and obviously AR opens up another world of different events, experiences, games, and things that you can do. I can’t wait to see the technology expand (and I imagine that next SDCC there’ll be a myriad of different AR experiences)

Sessions: The Legion Mixed Reality Experience will be open at the FXHibition at the Hilton Bayfront Park through Sunday. The standby line is long, but the experience itself is cool as hell.

Briefly: Shane already shared just what you’re in store for if you visit the fantastic FXHibition art installations outside of the Hilton Bayfront at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

This morning, we returned to the now familiar territory to experience the one attraction that we missed out on yesterday, and it was definitely worth the wait.

We’re talking about the American Horror Story: Fearless VR, an intimate experience that FX didn’t really detail in the press release, didn’t allow us to take photos of, and an experience that was encompassed in a foreboding, plain black silo. Creepy, creepy stuff.

If you’re looking to experience the AHS: Fearless VR without spoilers, just know that it’s totally cool, extremely well done, and quite freaking terrifying. I attended the experience with our own Shane O’Hare, and upon completion of the VR, Shane noted that what he had witnessed terrified him, gave him intense feelings of claustrophobia, and that he would not go through it again… after also stating that it was one of the best VR demos he’d experienced thus far.

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!

Alright, now that we’ve got that spoiler warning out of the way, let’s talk about just how cool this experience was.

Six people enter the silo at a time, and the experience takes five or six minutes to enter and exit (so you can gauge your place in the sure-to-be-long line). Inside the silo, it’d be hard not to notice the sleek, white walls and semi-translucent ceiling, which all marks a start contrast from the smooth, black ‘bed’ that those in attendance will lay on.

The FX ‘doctors’ cover you with a white sheet, help you put on your VR headset and headphones, help you become oriented, and once everyone is set up, the experience begins.

Everything is pitch black when an ominous voice warns you that you’re about to experience some of your deepest, darkest fears. The image fades in, you’re looking down towards your feet and laying on a gurney, and at that point it’s painfully obvious that you’re a corpse in some sort of gruesome morgue.

You spend a moment looking around and almost everything is off. The corpse on the gurney beside you has no head, you can see a body on the floor, everything is a Silent Hill level of dirty, you hear flies flying around you. Nothing about this is comfortable, and you quickly feel your skin begin to crawl.

A door opens in front of you, and a silhouette begins to approach. After a moment, she comes in to focus, and it’s the terrifying American Horror Story nun walking towards you, coming inches away from your face before beginning to push your gurney. You’ll notice heads and other body parts in jars as she pushes you down the hallway, and if you turn your head, something that you just saw may no longer be there. The gurney begins to move faster and faster, and you feel your stomach become unsettled due to the high-speed that your brain thinks that you’re moving at.

At this point, things become a little foggy, and I’m not quite sure what order the events take place in.

The nun continues pushing you, and eventually places you in a tiny, claustrophobic as hell cold chamber. It’s extremely dark, and turning your head will only let you see just how enclosed you are. After a moment of extreme silence, your perspective begins to shift and the gurney is suddenly falling into a foggy forest. You hear wildlife calling out, and it’s not long before three hooded figures appear from the fog, and as they approach you it becomes clear that they’re not walking, but floating ever closer.

The figures lift you up with some sort of telekinesis, and then literally burn you at the stake.

A hard cut, and a terrifying clown is standing stationary, just staring at you. It gets closer and closer before finally snapping. He then throws several dangerous objects at you, which are nearly impossible to not attempt to dodge.

The third object hits you in the face, another hard cut, and your gurney is again moving (on its own this time around). You’re now travelling through the halls of the Hotel Cortez. After a moment the ominous voice returns, warning you not to look down. An instant later, and the gurney enters, and begins to fall, down one of the hotel’s many elevator shafts. Though you’re stationary, you feel your stomach churn as you freefall down the shaft, gurney turning and flipping as it hits the walls.

You think that this must be it, but then the elevator races towards you. It stops just long enough for you to see the sharp, metal spikes protruding from its bottom, before it crushes you underneath it.

The ominous voice returns, letting you know that ‘The experience is now over. Please remember that everything you have seen was just a simulation.”

Then the nun comes back for one final jump scare, and the experience ends.

Holy hell that was freaky.

The FXHibition can be found across from the Hilton Bayfront, and is open Friday 10AM – 6PM, Saturday 10AM – 6PM, Sunday 10AM – 4PM.

Briefly: Boy do I ever need to catch up on The Strain.

FX has just debuted the trailer for the upcoming season, and it looks just as tense, terrifying, and fabulous as every episode that I’ve seen thus far.

As season three begins, New York City is a battleground. Written off by the federal government, the people of New York City must fight for survival on their own. The question is who will win? Humans or strigoi? Our heroes win victories, but are not winning the war. Beset by personal conflicts – betrayal, disappointment, paranoia – our group is splintering. Meanwhile, the Master is close to executing an irreversible transformation of the world. Is there still hope to save the city and humanity?

Season 3 is set to premiere on August 28th. Take a look at the trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Briefly: We were beyond excited to when FX renewed American Horror Story for a sixth season back in November.

The series found a phenomenal new star in the Lady Gaga, who won a Golden Globe for her role in the now-concluded American Horror Story: Hotel.

Of course, we all hoped that Gaga would be making a return appearance on AHS later this year, and in a recent interview with Z100, Gaga noted that she would return, though she “can’t promise you how or when or anything like that.”

No details have been revealed about the sixth season of American Horror Story thus far (or which other cast members will return), but we’ll be sure to share the news as it comes in!

What do you hope to see when American Horror Story returns this October?

Gaga

Briefly: After a weird off-season with last year’s Freak Show, American Horror Story is back and better than ever with the currently running fifth season, Hotel.

The series has found a phenomenal new cast member in Lady Gaga, who is hopefully interested in continuing her relationship with the series, as American Horror Story has just been renewed for another year.

“With the sixth installment coming next year, ‘American Horror Story’ has unquestionably joined the ranks of television’s landmark series,” said CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions John Landgraf “From ‘Murder House’ to ‘Hotel,’ AHS has pioneered a new television form as well becoming FX’s highest rated show — while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity. This is even more remarkable because Ryan and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful and entertaining. You could not ask more of an artist, their team or a series and with every new installment they deliver.”

I’ve been a big fan of the series since its debut, and as crazy as the show (and its ever expanding cast) has become over the past five years, I really cannot wait to see where Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and the rest of the crew take the incredibly produced show.

Are you down for another year of American Horror Story? Are you enjoying Hotel so far? Sound out below!

FX has given a series order to ‘Atlanta’ a new comedy created by and starring Donald Glover.   The show revolves around two cousins on their way up in Atlanta’s rap music scene.

Brian Tyree Henry (Boardwalk Empire), Lakeith Lee Stanfield (Selma) and Zazie Beetz are set to co-stars with Glover.

“ ‘Atlanta’ draws on Donald’s considerable talents as a musician, actor and writer to give us something unique,” said Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX and FX Prods. “The story is made all the more powerful by the great cast and the contributions of Donald’s fellow executive producer Paul Simms and director Hiro Murai. We can’t wait to for the debut of ‘Atlanta’ next year.”

Can’t wait for this, i have been missing Donald Glover since his departure from Community. his most recent body of work i saw him in was Magic Mike 2. FX has a really good streak with new shows so i hope this can be a marriage made in heaven. Now i’ll just be over hear listening to his albums on loop.

FX ordered 10 half hour episodes which are set to premiere next year. Fingers crossed!!

Looks like Fox is interested in getting some of the MCU cash, as just TODAY they’ve announced they are working on two live action adaptions from the X-Men universe.

First up on FX is Legion. Featuring David Haller (Legion), Charles Xavier’s estranged son. Legion first appeared in the late 80’s and was a direct cause of the “Age of Apocalypse” storyline. The show features Noah Hawley (Fargo) as the shows producer. The official blurb from Fox is:

Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

Legion sounds like something right up my alley. Shows that mess with the viewer as much as they mess with the characters in it.

From FOX itself we’re getting HellfireBased off the events from the Hellfire Club, introduced in the early 80’s, the show is said to take place in the late 60’s and will feature a “young special agent who learns that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires — known as ‘The Hellfire Club’ — to take over the world.”. It will be interesting to see how this particular show ties in with the X-Men films narrative.

Both shows have Bryan Singer and Jeph Loeb attached as producers.

No word on when principle filming begins or projected air dates, but you KNOW we’ll be sure to let you know.

Briefly: It’s been a long time coming, and now that October is here, we’re less than a week away from the highly anticipated premiere of American Horror Story‘s fifth season, Hotel.

Today, Ryan Murphy revealed the completely different opening credits for the series upcoming series.

As always, Hotel brings on an all-star cast consisting of Lady Gaga, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Chloë Sevigny, Denis O’Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters among others, and is set to premier next Wednesday, October 7th

American Horror Story has had a great few years of critically acclaimed stories and performances, and I’m certainly interested to see if Ryan Murphy, the cast, and the crew can keep it going for another year.

Briefly: Another day, another new teaser for ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’!

This one is probably the creepiest yet, and that disgusting looking arm definitely had me cringing for a few seconds.

Briefly: After numerous creepy teasers, and with less than a month until its premiere, FX has finally debuted the first actual trailer for American Horror Story: Hotel.

Sort of.

It’s a trailer showing off the expansive cast and creepy setting of the latest 13-episode season, and not much context. Also so much Lady Gaga.

Hopefully we’ll get a deeper look at the series before the October 7th premiere, but in any case, at least we know that American Horror Story: Hotel is as pretty as ever.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be checking into Hotel next month!

Briefly: We’re just over a month away from American Horror Story‘s anticipated return, and as in past years, the short, creepy, fantastic teasers have returned.

Last month’s lone teaser depicted a gruesome hand ringing, naturally, a hotel call bell (this season’s subtitle is Hotel). It was actually Lady Gaga’s hand, as Gaga takes centre stage in this season of the celebrated series. Last week, two even creepier teasers hit the web.

Today, three further teasers have debuted online, both short as ever, and both showing off some pretty gruesome imagery. I won’t spoil them for you, so take a few seconds with the each below, and let us know what you think!

FX Networks has just released the full trailer for the upcoming second season of their acclaimed series, “Fargo.”

The only similarities that carry over from last season, is blood, murder and mystery. The story takes place in 1979 and has venues in Sioux Falls, SD, and Luverne, MN, with a potential “botched robbery” and a Watergate name drop. Plus Ronald Reagan shows up on the 1980 campaign trail, played by Bruce Campbell. .

FX’s ‘Fargo’ has Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, Jean Smart, Nick Offerman, Brad Garrett and Kieran Culkin in the Noah Hawley-run show this time round.

Season 2 is set to premier in October.

Each and every year at Comic Con we all say the same thing. “There is more and more stuff to do OUTSIDE the convention center”, and this year, naturally wasn’t any different.

FX had taken over an entire field just outside the convention center, and set up their Fearless Arena. It was a HUGE area (in comic con terms), and when we arrived for the press event it was very nice to be able to roam around away from the crowds (and away from those lines).

FX had multiple attractions for many of their shows. The one that stood out the most was a HUGE hotel for the upcoming season of American Horror Story: Hotel. Walking inside the Hotel the whole thing was decked out. Pristine floors that looked like they could be marble, really convincing. The front desk had a wall of keys and mailboxes behind it. Inside attendees were given a bag and lead into one of eight rooms. The rooms were money grab pods! Derek and I were lead into our own pods, the fans turned on and we were tasked with grabbing as much cash as possible. It was a lot freaking harder than you think, like really hard. We bagged our cash and went to the front desk to see what we won. We didn’t get the most cash, so we were handed the consolation prizes (a neat key shaped keychain).

IMG_2320

The next event we checked out was the giant Fargo snowglobe. Thats right, a life sized freaking snowglobe. Inside was a famous scene from the show, and a facade of one of the towns buildings. We walked in, and a snow cannon went off and snapped a picture of us. Derek doesn’t really know how to pose for these things, so he just stood there looking confused. They also handed us waffle scented air-fresheners, which we haven’t actually had the courage to test out just yet.

The last one we checked out was a VR experience for The Strain. Attendees were each sat in a chair and present with a Samsung Gear VR. This attraction was a first person experience where we were lead through a dangerous area infested with vampires. A character from the show told us that we were looking for a lost survivor. This was a full 360 experience, and the 3D sound in this one was really on point. The sound of the creatures running around behind us was quite immersive. The room was equipped with powerful subwoofers in the floor, so every time something happened, you really felt it.

See, awkward as hell.
See, awkward as hell.

The last attraction, that we unfortunately weren’t able to enjoy, was a medevil themed obstacle course for their newest show The Bastard Executioner. This show sounds freaking awesome! A retired Knight from King Edwards court has to take up his sword again as an executioner. Not much else is known about the story, but I am so very excited to see this program.

The entire team from FX really pulled out all the stops. The FX Fearless Arena really was an awesome experience for anyone at San Diego Comic Con, and it didn’t require a badge!

Did you make it to the arena? What was your favourite part? Sound out below!

Archer is about to go through some major changes. Again.

It’s been quite a rollercoaster few seasons for Archer. Besides the thematic escalation, there have been changes to the dynamic of that kooky office as well; They’re not even named ISIS anymore, and for good (and unfortunate) reasons. Archer Vice was a bold experiment that, however divisive its reception, proved that this golden age of television is a space for bold exploration.

But the show goes on, and Archer more or less returned to its regular antics and familiar spaces last season, including a bottle episode where the whole gang was stuck in their office elevator. What can we expect this season? I went to San Diego Comic-Con and spoke to the people responsible for Archer to find out.

I think that there’s a lot of changes, specifically when it comes to the power structures and the relationship between the characters,” said Casey Willis, the show’s executive producer. Lucky Yates, who provides the voice for the mad Krieger (and the face for Ray!) echoed that sentiment. “There’s been some role shifts and some sort of status shifts within the group, is really all I can say.” I tried to egg him on to give more, but he said he values his role on the show “a little too much.”

Will these changes be permanent? “Who knows,” said Yates. “The core of the show … is our relationships between our cast of characters. No matter what their occupation or whatever is. Like relationships, they evolve and change and things shift around. Suddenly good guys are bad guys, and all that kind of shit. As long as that keeps going and moving around, I think we’ll be all right.”

“You’re going to see us working hard for the money this season. It will be fun to see everybody putting their various levels of espionage skills to the test.” Aisha Tyler is naturally charismatic, which tends to happen if you’re selected to host things like E3 conferences and Whose Line Is It Anyway? Her portrayal of the iron-willed Lana has endeared fans to both her and her character over the years. “[We] are the worst spies ever and don’t seem to have any jobs. You kind of saw us turn to cocaine dealing, which we weren’t very good at either, mainly because Pam just kept … turning it into foodstuffs and then bottling it down. [And] Lana is obviously the best spy on the show, the most confident, and I think you’ll see that … going forward this season.”

“We’re not airing an episode at Comic-Con because it’s so secret that we can’t reveal anything because we’ll ruin it all,” added Amber Nash, who portrays the wonderful Pam in Archer. “There’s some big stuff happening. The fun thing is, just like when we did Archer Vice, the dynamic between the characters is what the show is, no matter what they’re doing, it’s always going to be those guys being those guys. We’ve done two episodes so far, and the scripts are even funnier than last season. It’s really exciting.”

I tried guessing if that means someone Archer takes over the organization. “I don’t know if Archer has the capacity to really take over,” said Willis. Could someone like Cheryl? “That would be awesome.” He shifts a little. “I mean, that could be it.”

So I asked Cheryl. “I don’t know the plan,” Judy Greer told me in a noisy press room at Comic-Con. She sounds exactly like Cheryl: speech, tone, inflection, vocabulary. It was awesome, to the point it was almost kind of scary. “I don’t ask. I assume they would tell me if I asked, but it’s more fun for me to get the script and … learn it that way. They told me before we started sort of the new concept. There was a concept they were talking about and they had mentioned that to me, but otherwise, it’s way more fun to just get the script and read it.”

After nearly seven years of getting scripts, I wondered if anything still surprises its cast. “I feel like I’m always surprised,” Greer said. “I just can’t believe the mind of Adam Reed. It genuinely shocks me every time I read a new script. Even when he kind of came up with Archer Vice, I was like, ‘Who would do that?’ The show’s a total hit … and it just keeps getting more and more of a following and you’re just going to change the whole thing? Totally fearless. Totally exciting. So smart. So interesting. “

Chris Parnell, a Saturday Night Live veteran who plays the try-hard Cyril, says he’s surprised at “how consistently [series creator] Adam [Reed] is able to keep writing the show, and write it with such great jokes and scenarios and detail.” What doesn’t surprise him? “In terms of where he puts us or what he does with us, nothing shocks me.”

But one thing did shock him: I asked Chris what he thought of Cyril being a type of spirit animal for those who forever try hard but fail. We all know one, and I know several. They frequently relate to Cyril, but what did comedy veteran Parnell think about his popularity with those kinds of viewers? It surprised him. Looking in my eye, Parnell says I’ve told him “something, in a way … because people say how much they love Cyril. And it’s interesting to hear that maybe that’s a part of why. Because I hadn’t actually thought of that.”

Returning to the topic of Adam Reed, Judy Greer noted with eyes open and darting. “I’m always shocked by him and how he can come up with this stuff. Where does it come from?”

I couldn’t find out where it comes from in the mind of Adam Reed, the mastermind behind this massive cult show. This seventh season has managed to attract the likes of Patton Oswald and Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons as guest stars. “They’ll both be in a few episodes,” Reed said. But as the show gets a little long in the tooth, what could possibly be next? As Reed puts it, Archer is “limitless.”

“All things we couldn’t probably do live action, because they’d be expensive, but I’d really love to do a submarine episode.” Reed acknowledges that similar submarine episodes have already been done before on the show, but he wishes to tackle it more properly soon. “I’m fascinated with submarine movies,” he puts it.

Is anything off the table when it comes to Archer? Turns out, there are limits. “For me, things that remind me of bad news in real life. Just because it’s a bummer to write,” Reed admitted. “I don’t think there’s anything where [FX] would go, ‘Oh, that’s too much.’ When we’ve talked about terrorists, they’ve been obviously made up terrorists, like the Free New Finland Army or whatever … I guess it’s self-editing, but FX would let us do whatever, I’m sure. Except throw a baby. They won’t let us throw a baby.”

Wait, what?

“Archer was babysitting for … the prostitute’s baby.” I remembered the episode. “He was going to throw a baby to disarm a gunman, and FX was like, ‘You can’t do that.’ I think Archer threw the baby up in the air and when everybody looked at the baby, Archer kicked the gun out of the guy’s hand and then caught the baby. Usually we turn in an episode and they’re like, ‘Great, thanks for the episode,’ but that one scene they watched over, to make sure, how high is the baby going, is the baby in danger at all during the process? They’re a baby-friendly network.”

Jessica Walters, who plays Mallory Archer, the matriarch of the spy organization, is a film and TV legend. She’s not above gross comedy, “but compared to some of the stuff on cable, I don’t think we’re that risqué.” Sitting next to Jessica is intimidating. She’s nothing like the venom-spewing Mallory, but her presence commands you direct her attention to her yet she’s as sweet as mint candy. Being used to the screeching, rigid Mallory, hearing Walters speak soft was oddly comforting amidst the busy Comic-Con press room. “I just love [playing Mallory]. It’s so much fun to have something that you really care about to do, and make a living at it. It’s incredible. Like a dream still.”

“Dude, it blows my mind,” Yates tells me about playing Krieger on Archer. “Not too long ago, I was just a con-goer. I was an attendee. We have Dragon-Con in Atlanta and I go to it every year. Now suddenly I’m on the other side of the panel tables … The first time I saw a guy dressed as Krieger was at Dragon-Con. I went up to him and I was nerding out about him so much. He was like, ‘Yeah, cool.’ I was like, ‘I’m sorry. I play Krieger on the show.’ He was like, ‘What?’ The two of us were just like, ‘But, you!’”

Much of the people who work on Archer still can’t snap themselves out of the madness that is both Comic-Con and the show’s popularity. That includes its creator, Adam Reed.

“I didn’t think I would be sitting here even in season one. I didn’t think the pilot would get picked up. When it did, that just floored me. The ratings were terrible the first season, it was sort of on the bubble, the Winter Olympics were that year, and I think just because the Olympics went  off or something, and then people were like, “Let’s check out this other show.” FX stuck with it, but I didn’t think it would have been the success that it is at all, so I’m continually amazed.”

Archer begins its seventh season this fall on FX.

Briefly: Following the season’s first trailer from earlier this month, FX has revealed just when we’ll be able to jump back into the world of The Strain.

Season two will debut on Sunday, July 12 (which also happens to be the final day of this year’s SDCC). I was a big fan of last year’s The Strain, once the first few (kind of boring) episodes passed and the series really began to ramp up. That being said, I’m more than excited for the second season to finally premiere.

As the second season unfolds, the transformation has begun. It can no longer be denied — New York City is rapidly falling to an evil epidemic, and no one is coming to its rescue. Its citizens must fight or die. Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his unlikely allies tried to take down the embodiment of this evil — the Master — and failed. Now Eph and Dr. Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) concentrate on creating a biological weapon to wipe out the creatures, while Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) searches for an ancient book he hopes will reveal the strigoi’s entire history…and possibly a way to kill them. Meanwhile, the Master is out for revenge, unleashing new and even more terrifying breeds of bloodthirsty creatures after our team. Our team must find a way to defeat him before the infection spreads too far and becomes irreparable … before they become monsters themselves.

Strain2

Briefly: We’re still without a premiere date, but the first trailer for The Strain’s highly anticipated second season has just hit the web, along with a brand new poster via Entertainment Weekly.

Briefly: Fans of American Horror Story were beyond disappointed to learn that longtime leading lady Jessica Lange would not be a part of its upcoming season.

Today, fans should be feeling decidedly happier, as Kathy Bates, who has done a phenomenal job in the series since Coven, will be returning for Hotel.

Ryan Murphy announced the news via twitter, simply stating that “Kathy Bates is running the Hotel.”

American Horror Story: Hotel is set to debut this Fall. Which season has been your favourite so far?

Briefly: Following the addition of Lady Gaga to American Horror Story‘s fifth seasonHotel, FX has revealed two new additions to the cast, and confirmed on unfortunate departure.

Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson, who both had guesting roles on American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy’s Glee, have joined Hotel in undisclosed roles.

Bomer noted that “I love collaborating with Ryan Murphy. It feels like this world where there are no bounds.”

Sadly, Jessica Lange, who has been a series star since its very inception, confirmed rumours at Payleyfest that she will depart the series, and will not be a part of season five.

Are you looking forward to the upcoming season? What do you think of Lange’s departure? Sound out below!

Briefly: It’s hard to imagine a world where Jessica Lange won’t be the lead in American Horror Story, but it appears as though a new star for the series’ next iteration has been found, and it’s one that I would have never guessed:

Yep, according to TVLine, “sources confirm that Gaga will very much be the star of the latest chapter”, which has been subtitled ‘Hotel’.

This year’s iteration of the celebrated series is also set to be “very different” from its predecessors, according to FX Networks CEO John Landgraf. We’re not exactly sure what that means yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we learn more.

Are you down with Gaga joining the series? What did you think of Freakshow? Sound out below!

We’re all big fans of The Strain here over at Geekscape, some of us since the first novel released back in 2009, and some of us last Summer when the FX series first premiered (dat premiere, right?)

The fantastic vampire drama was renewed for a second season back in August, and we were pretty damned excited to learn that this universe would be continuing for at least another year. We even had series star Sean Astin on the show back in September!

Not familiar with the series? Well, When a freak virus kills all but four passengers on an airplane at JFK, Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), head of the Center for Disease Control’s “Canary Team,” is immediately called to the scene. With help from a mysterious Holocaust survivor (David Bradley), “Eph” and his colleague (Mía Maestro) uncover the outbreak’s ties to vampirism. I know, I know, we’re all sad the series has ended. Now, whether you liked the series finale or not, fans of the show should be pleased to hear that they can continue their fandom with Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect. The game is set to episodic, with the first episode introducing games into the SoA world, show locations, and members of a previously unknown chapter.

The Prospect is currently being developed by Orpheus and Silverback Games, but don’t worry, Kevin Sutter and his creative team are also on board for the title.

The game is set to release on phones and tablets early 2015.

Monster fans will be thrilled to learn that legendary creature actor, Doug Jones, will be playing the original vampire, Nosferatu! During Comikaze, the project’s creators hosted a panel talking about their project and Kickstarter campaign (Which is fully funded! Yay!). Jones, unfortunately, could not make it to the panel as he was filming in Vancouver, but he joined us briefly via Skype. With his long career portraying creatures/monsters, he has often been asked what role that he has not had a chance to play yet. He said he would ,”…love to play a classic vampire like Nosferatu.” Jones is no stranger to playing strange and unusual characters. During the Q&A, he was asked, “Was there anything particularly challenging about playing Nosferatu?” He replied that it is difficult when you take material that already has a huge fan base. Jones said he wants to be reverent to the original material but make it his own. This film will using a new technology where they can take the footage from the original and add new footage. They are calling it “Nosferatu – The Feature Film Remix”. Jones went on to say that he wants to make himself proud as an actor and to make the fans proud as well. As a fan of Doug Jones and monster movies, I cannot wait! Check out their Kickstarter campaign here to learn more about the film and spread the word!

Briefly: We’re finally just one week away from the anticipated premiere of American Horror Story‘s next tale, Freak Show, and FX has just released a real trailer, as well as the intro for the upcoming season.

The new trailer shows off the phenomenal characters (just look at the two headed Sarah Paulson) and vibrant setting (1952 Florida) of the new series, and really gets us excited to see what Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and their team have come up with.

American Horror Story: Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.

Take a look at the new trailer, and this season’s intro below, and let us know what you think! American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres on October 8th.
