Briefly: We’re finally just a few weeks away from the anticipated premiere of American Horror Story‘s next tale, Freak Show, and following the first real trailer from last week (after those freaky-as-shit teasers that is), the network has released yet another creepy teaser to prepare us for this October.

The new video is called ‘Twisted Swinger’… and it’s a twisted preview indeed. Take a look:

A new, extremely unsettling poster for the series has also debuted, and it’s one that makes me insanely uncomfortable if I look at it for more than a few seconds. Enjoy:

Yep. American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres on October 8th, and there’s no way it’ll be as sick as that image.

Briefly: We’re finally just a few weeks away from the anticipated premiere of American Horror Story‘s next tale, Freak Show, and following the first real trailer from a few days back (after those freaky-as-shit teasers that is).

The new trailer introduced us to a few of Freak Show‘s main characters without revealing anything about the plot, but FX has just released the premiere’s synopsis to get us speculating. In the episode, titled ‘Monsters Among Us’, “One of the only surviving sideshows in the country struggles to stay in business during the dawning era of television. When police make a terrifying discovery at a local farmhouse, the eccentric purveyor of the freak show sees an opportunity that will lead her troupe either to their salvation or ruin.“

A few new character posters have also made their way online, so take a look below, and let us know what you think! American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres on October 8th.

This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.

Briefly: FX today renewed their popular horror-drama The Strain for a second season.

While it took a few episodes to get going, I’m thoroughly enjoying where the series is going at this point, and I’m ecstatic that its story won’t conclude when the first season does.

The 13-episode second season will debut next Summer. John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks said that “We’ve never had any doubts about ‘The Strain. Working with Guillermo del Toro, Carlton Cuse, and the brilliant cast led by Corey Stoll has been everything we had hoped it would be and more. It is thrilling when you have a show that is a creative and commercial hit, which is a rare accomplishment in this increasingly crowded marketplace. We look forward having it on FX for as long as Carlton, Guillermo and Chuck Hogan need to tell this epic tale.”

Briefly: The first creepy teaser for American Horror Story: Freak Show debuted just over a month ago, and now we know just when we’ll be able to see a full episode.

FX revealed today that Freak Show will debut on Wednesday, October 8th at 10PM. This means that it’s going to be a fantastic week for horror fans, as The Walking Dead premieres its fifth season just a few days later.

As revealed by EW back in MarchFreakshow is ”Set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950″ and “finds Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.”

Briefly: FX always puts together a myriad of insanely creepy teasers for each season of American Horror Story, and it looks as though this year won’t be any different. The network has debuted the first short video for Freakshow, entitled ‘Fallen Angel’.

As always, it’s creepy as hell and a great, great tease, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.

Briefly: Guillermo Del Toro’s The Strain is just a month away from premiere, and FX has finally given us a trailer that’s more than a few seconds long.

The Strain is a high-concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

The footage looks great, and we really can’t wait to see more. Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know what you think! The series premieres on July 13th!

Briefly: We’ve seen tons (and tons) of tiny teasers, but the first actual footage from FX’s The Strain has just hit the web.

Briefly: It was just a few days ago that the official subtitle for American Horror Story‘s fourth season was announced, and FX has already begun to announce new cast members.

During today’s PaleyFest panel it was revealed that The Shield and No Ordinary Family (which shouldn’t have been cancelled) star Michael Chiklis has joined the series, and will play the father of Evan Peters’ character, and ex husband of Kathy Bates’ (as Peters confirmed in the tweet below).

Details on the season are still scarce, but we do know that ”Set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950, Freak Show finds Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.”

What do you think of the news? Are you excited for the new addition? Sound out below!

Briefly: Back in January, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy revealed that the series’ fourth season would be set in the 1950’s, and that series regular Jessica Lange would be returning for another year.

Today, he revealed this year’s official title:

Entertainment Weekly has expanded further on the announcement, revealing that the season is”Set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950, Freak Show finds Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.”

EW also has the list of returning cast (so far), which features Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy, while Dennis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are still in negotiations.

Are you looking forward to another year of American Horror Story? What do you hope to see in the season?

Briefly: Following a series of still images, FX has debuted a new teaser for this Summer’s premiere of The Strain.

The short teaser doesn’t really show us anything aside from an eclipse, (which I’m guessing is important) and simply states that “He is here”.

The series sounds extremely interesting, and I’m really looking forward to seeing more, I just really wish that FX would show us something, instead of these vague images and non-revelatory teasers.

In any case, take a look at the teaser below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the series. The Strain will premiere on FX this July!

Briefly: We’re still two weeks away from the finale of American Horror Story‘s fantastic third season, Coven, but creator Ryan Murphy is already letting details slip on the anticipated next season of the celebrated series.

Speaking with EW, Ryan stated:

“If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there’s some more clues in that year. It’s a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we’ve done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I’m very excited!”

So, 1950, and Jessica Lange is German, huh? I’ve got no idea where we’re headed, but a post-WWII American Horror Story tale sure sounds interesting. What do you want to see next, and what do you think of Coven so far? Sound out below!

Briefly: Following the first brief teaser from early last month, and the first stills from earlier this week, FX has debuted a new image for their television adaptation of Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s The Strain.

The still (again) reveals little about the series (and certainly don’t give us at look at anything really exciting), but it’s certainly nice to see something out of FX regarding the show.

Take a look at the image below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the series! The Strain premieres on FX this July!

Briefly: It was just a few weeks ago that FX announced that The Strain had received a 13-episode order, and today the show’s first teaser made its way online.

The mysterious video first premiered during last night’s midseason finale of The Walking Dead (which I haven’t caught up on, so be quiet about it), but has now appeared on an official-looking The Strain related YouTube channel.

The series sounds very cool, and I can’t wait to check out the first episode when it premieres this July. For now, take a look at the teaser below, and let us know what you think! We’ll be sure to share more The Strain news as it comes out!

Briefly: I need to get reading The Strain, especially now that the pilot has become a series!

That’s right. FX announced today that their adaptation of Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s The Strain has received a full series order. The 13-episode first season is set to begin production in Toronto this month, for a July premiere. The entire series is expected to span between 39 and 65 episodes.

The series stars Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland and Miguel Gomez. We’ll be sure to share more info as soon as it’s announced, as I can’t wait for this one!

Most conventions have “how to” panels, but you need to know more than just how to get into a business, you need to know what it takes to survive. There was such a panel at Comikaze and it focused on what it takes to work in the special effects industry.

StanWinston

From Left to Right: Matt Winston, John Cherevka, Bruce D. Mitchell, Dawn Dininger, and Richard Cetrone

The panel started off going down the line and the panelists gave one word that they felt describes what you need to make it in the fx industry. John Cherevka (painter) said you need a “drive.” He went on to say, “you need to know the difference between good and bad work so that you can improve.” “No one is a natural. You learn from experience” (Cherevka).  Bruce D. Mitchell (fabricator) chose persistence. He explained that “you gotta love this because you need to be able to survive the slow times.” He added that “you need to maintain a relationship with the shops you worked at” because it is “easy to be forgotten when you first start out.” So make sure to keep people updated on what you are working on! The theme continued with Dawn Dininger (fabricator) adding “determination.” She also said the better you get along with people, the better you work with people. Matt Winston (son of Stan Winston and Co-Founder of the Stan Winston School) expanded on Dininger’s comment by saying his father’s greatest attribute was that “people loved to work with him.” When you enjoy working with your fellow co-workers, your work will be better and they will be more willing to help you out when you need it. Richard Cetrone (suit performer) concluded with “persevere” and explained how you cannot be claustrophobic in the suits/masks. You “gotta have a passion for it… gotta eat, sleep, breath what you desire.” Everyone agreed that networking is key and that you need to meet as many people as you can. All excellent advice and it can all be applied to other job fields (or life in general) as well!

Speaking of other jobs, Winston  quoted his father by stating, “If you have a fall back, you WILL fall back.” You need to do this because this is what you want to do for the rest of your life. Extremely sound advice for all artists out there. Another thing Winston pointed out was that you “need to be supportive of other people’s journeys and dreams” and if you are going to attack anyone, “attack your own dreams.” I think this is something many people do; they get caught up in being jealous of other people’s success and they try to tear them down. We need to encourage each other to succeed because if we focus negatively on someone else too much, we lose the focus our own lives.

There was a helpful/informative Q&A after the panel where attendees asked generic to extremely specific questions. One person asked about CGI and how they felt about it. Winston replied, “Don’t hate CGI. Hate that CGI is looked at as the only option.” It is unfortunate that many films have moved away from practical effects towards CGI because there is just something real and tangible when practical effects are used. Winston’s last piece of advice was “become a traditional artist as well as high tech.”  It is wonderful when the two can work together and enhance the effect! I asked the last question which was, “After working in the industry, can you watch film without critiquing/analyzing how it was done?” Winston and Dininger said “yes” but Mitchell, Cherevka and Cetrone were a strong unanimous “no.”

Briefly: We’re just four episodes into American Horror Story: Coven, and FX has already renewed the series for a fourth season.

“Put simply, Ryan Murphy is a master television producer,” said Landgraf. “Time and time again he reinvents the form. What he, co-creator Brad Falchuk and their producers Dante Di Loreto, Tim Minear, Jennifer Salt, James Wong, Brad Buecker, Jessica Sharzer, Douglas Petrie, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, Alexis Martin Woodall and the entire production team and cast responsible for the American Horror Story franchise have done is nothing short of extraordinary. Every year, they create a riveting and brilliant new miniseries.  AHS: Coven is the best yet, and I have no doubt that the next installment will be even better.”

The network has ordered an additional 13 episodes to compose the fourth season. We’ll share more info as soon as it’s announced!

Coven

Briefly: With just over a week to go until premiere, FX has just debuted a new featurette and two new promos for the anticipated American Horror Story: Coven.

The featurette digs into the portrayal of Voodoo in Hollywood, and in essence, just how wrong it is. We see interviews with real Voodoo priestesses and historians, and it really makes you wonder how the Voodoo will be portrayed in the series.

In any case, I can’t wait. Take a look at the new videos below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the premiere. American Horror Story: Coven debuts on October 9th!

American Horror Story: Coven tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

Briefly: Following the opening credits reveal and new promos from just a few days back, FX today debuted two new teasers for the upcoming American Horror Story: Coven.

With just 11 days to go until the season premiere, I wonder just how many  teasers they could possibly have up their sleeves. Seriously, there has to be at least two dozen by now.

The two newest videos, titled “The Stand” and “Black Hat” are effective as always, and do a good job of reminding me that I can’t wait until October 9th. Take a look at the new videos below, and let us know what you think!

It’s a good thing that the marketing for the series thus far has been very effective, otherwise we’d all be beyond sick of it by now. It seems as though there’s either a new poster or teaser released daily, but at this point I’m simply so excited for Coven that I’ll take whatever I can get!
