Check Out The Official Trailer To Rockstar’s ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’

Just two days ago Rockstar confirmed ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ with a teaser poster and promised us a trailer and today the pony express delivered. So saddle up for a new adventure into the wild west in the next-gen iteration to Rockstar’s other hot property.

Still no details about the video game itself except for a release date for Fall 2017.

NYCC 2016: ‘The Defenders’ Come Together At The Netflix Panel

Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television, moderated the NYCC panel Marvel and Netflix and was packed with surprise appearances and announcements. Is started off with the cast of ‘Iron Fist’ making an appearance to introduce the teaser trailer. Surprise guests included an appearance by Erik LaRay Harvey (Diamondback), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher), and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), which it was announced that she will be joining the cast of ‘The Punisher’.

The end of the very end of the panel featured the biggest surprise of the night when the main cast of the ‘The Defenders’ united on stage for the first time. Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) , Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and from joined Finn Jones (Danny Rand).

There was one more surprise guest, Sigourney Weaver (Avatar and Aliens), and it was revealed that she would be playing the villain of the series. There was no announcement of who she would actually be portraying. There is no doubt that the Hand will be a force to reckon with, so maybe she will be a part of the clan.

NYCC 2016: Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ Teaser Trailer

At Netflix and Marvel’s New York Comic Con panel they debuted the new teaser trailer for Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’. The cast of the show were all on hand to premier the trailer among other surprises. ‘Iron Fist’ stars , Finn Jones (Danny Rand), Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Jessica Stroup (Joy Meachum), Tom Pelphrey (Ward Meachum), David Wenham (Harold Meachum), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple).

‘Iron Fist’ is the fourth show of the Marvel Netflix Series leading up to the highly anticipated ‘The Defenders’ that will bring together the leads of the shows to take on a unknown threat to New York. Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ premieres March 17, 2017.

NYCC 2016: Go Go Power Rangers Character Posters

In recurring theme this year, Lionsgate has decided to release five more character posters ahead of the ‘Power Rangers’ reboot panel at New York Comic Con, which takes place Saturday at 2 PM.

The ‘Power Rangers’ film stars Dacre Montgomery (A Few Less Men) as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott (The 33) as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G (Empire) as Trini the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin (Monster Hunt) as Zack the Black Ranger, and Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) as Rita Repulsa. In addition Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) has been announced to play Zordon with Bill Hader (“Saturday Night Live) voicing Alpha 5.

Blade Runner Sequel Is Now Named ‘Blade Runner 2049’

The long awaited sequel to ‘Blade Runner’ gets a title and a release date, now titled ‘Blade Runner 2049’ is set to be released next year October 6, 2017. The sequel will take place several decades after the 1982 original, and stars Ryan Gosling along with Harrison Ford, who will be reprising his role as Rick Deckard. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Plot details have yet to be revealed.

NYCC 2016: ‘War For The Planet of the Apes’ Teaser Trailer

Prior to the NYCC panel, 20th Century Fox unveiled a teaser for the film, depicting Caesar’s likeness in a flurry of snow with the voice over of his speech from Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. But us fans attended the Q&A panel were also treated to three more videos, which included a full trailer!

In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

The first was a behind-the-scenes clip that mainly broke down shots from the trailer with video of the actors and early CGI renderings explaining how the ‘Planet of the Apes’ movies are made. The other two previews were a bit more fulfilling, the filmmakers revealed an unfinished scene and debuted the first full trailer. The effects seemed pretty finished so we can only assume the full trailer should be released very soon. Below is a description of the events that unfolded during the trailer.

The teaser opens with a squad of well-armed and highly-trained soldiers searching a dark cave. In the cave, ape architecture (log platforms, bridges, and other structures) is visible. A soldier’s comm crackles when, out of the black, Caesar grabs him and tosses him to the ground – picking up his radio headset to listen-in. They’re searching for him – they’re on a mission to assassinate him. The footage then cuts to the film’s antagonist “Colonel” (Woody Harrelson), decked out in black war paint, repelling out of the waterfall – with Caesar pursuing and leaping off a ledge after him.

The rest of the footage is a sizzle reel that, like most teaser trailers, presents the majority of its shots out of context – intended to set the stage for the state of the world and returning characters in War for the Planet of the Apes rather than outright spoil the story. The footage reveals apes, bowing in respect to Caesar, presenting their leader with human captives. We see shots of a fiery battle, and wintery mountain compound where the Colonel, along with his soldiers, mount their war against the apes. The Colonel narrates throughout, acknowledging the irony that humans created the apes, and nature has been punishing them ever since, while stating that his army is prepared for a final stand – to do all they can to prevent the world from becoming a “planet of apes.” Finally, the teaser reveals Caesar on his knees before the Colonel – who cocks a handgun and presses the barrel into Caesar’s forehead. Caesar, in turn, snarls and pushes his face against the gun.

‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ goes down in theaters July 14, 2017.

Netflix Casts Pivotal Roles For Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’

Production is officially in full swing on Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ for Netflix.

Marvel has revealed three more cast members that will be joining Jon Bernthal in the series, Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia). Barnes who is slated to play Billy Russo, Frank’s Castle’s best friend from his days in the Special Forces who runs a successful private military corporation called “Anvil;” Ebon Moss-Bachrach (“Girls”) will play Micro, a former NSA analyst whose secrets may be of great value to Frank Castle and everyone around them; and Amber Rose Revah (Indian Summers, Son of God) joins as Dinah Madani; a highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent who is vexed by the Punisher.

Netflix has set Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) as showrunner on ‘The Punisher’, with Jim Chory and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb as executive producers.

‘The Punisher’ has already begun the early stages of production, though the series is not expected to premiere until at least 2018 after Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ and the crossover ‘Defenders’ series have taken their bow.

The Muppets Are Getting A Push At The Disney Theme Parks

Briefly: I knew that our resident Muppet Historian, Matthew Kelly, was headed to Walt Disney World soon, and me being the Disney addicted man child that I am, I wanted to share all of the new stuff at the parks. Too much to text, I told Jonathan that I would be submitting an article about it. Here’s an excerpt from our daily staff emails.

Jonathan: We will also see a rousing article from BigYanks. What’s it called, Yanks?
Danny: It’s called “A Salute to All Things Disney, But Mostly The Muppets”.
Jonathan: Yanks, are you ready with that article?
Danny: It’s a glorious three-volume book!
Jonathan: You got a six paragraph limit.

The Muppets might be down, but they aren’t out yet.

The Muppets entered into a resurgence with the surprise hit of ‘The Muppets’ movie in 2011 written by Jason Segal. So of course the next logical thing Disney did was went ahead and green lit a sequel. This time with no Jason Segal ‘Muppets Most Wanted’ fell flat and wasn’t so well received. The film didn’t match any of the hype, charm or fandom of the first film. But still The Muppets where still in the spotlight and Disney gave the brand a second chance and went ahead with a television pilot.

The announcement of ‘The Muppets’ television show got the fans up in a frenzy and excited for something fresh. The show was being developed by Muppet Journeyman and ‘Big Bang Theory’ Co-Creator, Bill Pardy. The show brought the gang back taking on more adult themes that were similar to that of The Office and Larry Sanders Show. This left some die hards unsure what to think of it and the show was met with very mixed reviews. Some parents were even outraged that show wasn’t accessible to younger audience members, failing to realize this was a primetime show on a network, not the Disney Chanel. Even with plot changes made to try and bring the viewers it was too little too late and ABC cancelled it at the end of the season.

The Muppet’s Disney future was looking bleak.

Now news of Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studio were announced and rumors were swirling of what areas would be razed to make space. With ‘Muppets Vision 3D’ in close proximity of Star Tours it felt inevitable that the Muppets may have met their match at the theme parks. Then it was announced that the The Muppets were indeed staying and getting its own area at the park. The are would getting refurbished along with a name change, Welcome to ‘Muppets Courtyard’. One of the first changes coming soon is the conversion of the old ‘Toy Story Pizza Planet’ into the Muppets themed ‘PizzeRizzo’. The backstory being that Rizzo and has vast amount of family members are running the restaurant much like his French cousin Remy. With no other news of the fate of the remaining structures in the area, i’m hoping for an overhaul. If we can only get a updated ‘Muppet Vision 3D’ attraction similar to that of ‘Soarin’ over at EPCOT. That show is feeling very dated and the theater could use some sprucing up. This attraction was also the only way to see a living Muppet. It being a 4-D Attraction, Sweetums would make a quick appearance while the gang searched for Bean Bunny. Hopefully we can now get the characters back for meet and greets.

In another surprise move by Disney, they announced this fall, the Muppets will be at the Magic Kingdom Park, where they’ll take part in an all-new live show, “The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History.” The show will feature Sam Eagle, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, The Great Gonzo and James Jefferson, the town crier of Liberty Square. They gather outside The Hall of Presidents to present historical tales as only they can. From the midnight ride of Paul Revere to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Muppets appear throughout the day to share with Guests, their own unique take on the founding fathers and the birth of the United States of America. The Shows had their debuts this week and were met with high praise for keeping with the ideology of the Liberty Square area in a hysterical fashion.

Just one day later, the powers that be decided to dust off the cobwebs out of an old fan favorite and brought back the ‘Muppets Mobile Lab’ over at EPCOT. The mobile interactive show stars Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his lab assistant Beaker. The characters come to life by interacting with the crowd in simple hysterical experiments all at the expense of Beaker of course.

With such an unexpected push by the company at the theme parks the future is looking bright now for The Muppets. There is no denying that there is some money to be made with the brand but they were striking out in the movies and television department, the next logical step would be to bring back the nostalgia via appearances at the parks. I’m so ecstatic to be able to go back to the parks and catch a real life glimpse of the muppets. Heres to hoping that things take off and we get even more of The Muppets including photo-ops and special events.

Hugh Jackman Tweets Upcoming ‘Logan’ Poster

Just in time for NYCC, Hugh Jackman has just tweeted the first poster for the upcoming Wolverine movie simply titled ‘Logan’.

Now that we know the name and an imagery of a young hand holding Logan’s hand, this will surely feed the flames that the final movie might just be loosely based on the ‘Old Man Logan’ comic book story line. The 2008 storyline featuring an old, washed-up Logan in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the Marvel Universe. In this story line, the Hulk has taken over part of the land with his gang of inbred children that live to make Logan’s life miserable. Obviously things will have to be altered because of the different character ownerships.

The director James Mangold followed up Hugh Jackman’s tweet with two of his own, releasing an official image of the poster and a readable shot of the 2nd page of the script. After reading the page, seems to kind of confirm at least an Old Man Logan will be seen, but nothing about the plot of the movie.

Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo To Be Renamed ‘Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con’

Earlier today Stan Lee was honored by the city of Los Angeles. Recognizing him for his decades-longs contributions to the city’s entertainment industry. So the City of Los Angeles decided to give Stan The Man his very own day – “Stan Lee Day.” In recognition of this honor, “Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo,” will now officially be renamed “Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con.”

As part of the ceremony, Los Angeles Councilmember Curren D. Price will designate Friday, October 28 as “Stan Lee Day” in recognition of his substantial contributions to the City’s entertainment community and involvement, and in helping create Los Angeles Comic Con, held annually on Halloween weekend, as a world-class event celebrating the city’s comic book, pop culture and entertainment community.

Stan Lee has had a busy 2016 so far, earlier this week Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that Stan had already filmed his next 4 cameos for the MCU including a quick easter egg in the upcoming ‘Luke Cage’ for Netflix.

We here at Geekscape have always seen Stan Lee affectionately as our very own crazy Grunkle Stan, since back in the day when we used to be known as Dickscape. We also have always had close ties to Stan Lee doing various interviews and have been apart of Comikaze Expo since the very first one in 2011. Stan Lee even sent us his well wishes during Geekscape’s 400th episode extravaganza. We are looking forward to standing by his side for many more Expos to come so make sure you look for us this year.

‘The Tick’ Returns With Full Series Pick Up

Amazon Studios has greenlit 3 of the of the shows from this year’s pilot season, with one of them being fan favorite ‘The Tick’.

The series takes place in a world where superheroes are real, and Arthur, an accountant with no superpowers at all realizes that his city is owned by a global supervillain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover the conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero called The Tick.

The series stars Peter Serafinowicz as The Tick, Griffin Newman as Arthur, Jackie Earle Haley as The Terror, Valorie Curry as Dot Everest, Yara Martinez as Ms. Lint and Brendan Hines as Superion. Here is to hoping that the series will bring my favorites Bat Manuel and Captain Liberty back into the fold.

The other 2 shows greenlit by Amazon were ‘I love Dick’ and Jonathan’s favorite ‘Jean-Claude Van Johnson’.

All series are set to debut in 2017.

Disney Confirms Third ‘STAR WARS’ Anthology Film

Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed another entry into the ‘Star Wars’ series of stand-alone “anthology” movies is set for release in 2020.

During the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference, and as reported by Deadline, Bob Iger said that a writer had been hired to work on the film. That would be the third in the series that begins with the release of ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ in December 2016, and followed by the untitled Han Solo film, due for release in May 2018. There are no details yet on the film.

More interesting to me was his other remarks regarding the franchise during the conference, Iger said that he had recently met with Luscasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy and “started talking about what we’re going to do in 2021 and beyond”. With episodes eight and nine of the main series due for release in 2017 and 2019 i’m excited to see it get the same attention as the MCU. Disney has figured out a formula and they are churning out great products.

The popular demand is for a Ewan McGregor lead Obi Wan Kenobi film that would take place during his time living on Tatooine. This year Marvel published various ‘Star Wars’ comics and the main comic showcased a story line where Obi Wan was keeping an eye on Luke Skywalker and trying to keep him out of trouble from afar all while trying to adjust on Tattooine and dealing with Jaba the Hut’s gang.

Check Out All Of The ‘Ghost in the Shell’ Teaser Trailers!

If you were glued to your T.V. last night for the Mr.Robot Season finale, you were also treated to the five teaser trailers released for Paramount’s ‘Ghost in the Shell’. The film, which stars Scarlett Johansen, caused an internet uproar for having whitewashed the lead of the beloved manga and anime.

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

The teasers offers a quick glimpse at the upcoming movie. The clips feature a scantily clad Scarlett Johansson, Neo Tokyo sets,a crazy looking Takeshi Kitano, a bunch of naked dudes sitting plugged into some device, and a dead eyes looking geisha. Her soul stealing eyes will haunt my dreams for a long time.

Scarlett Johansson star as The Major along with Takeshi Kitano as Section 9 chief Daisuke Aramaki; Michael Pitt as Kuze; Pilou Asbæk as Batou; Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouelet; Kaori Momoi in an unnamed role; and Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tuwanda Manyimo as various members of Section 9.

First Look – New Poster For ‘John Wick 2’

John Wick is indeed BACK!!

Lionsgate just released a new poster for John Wick: Chapter 2 in preparations for the upcoming NYCC which runs from October 6-9. The will be hosting a Q&A at the madison Square Garden Theater that will also highlight the new Power Rangers movie.

Chapter 2 sees John Wick come out of retirement again, forced to face off with an international assassins guild. The film will take place in Rome where he will battle against no small number of trained killers. Returning to the film is Common, Bridget Moynahan, Ian McShane and John Leguizamo.

The bodies drop in John Wick: Chapter 2 on February 10.

Joe Manganiello Cast As DEATHSTROKE In New ‘BATMAN’ Movie

Briefly: I have huge man crush on Joe akin to that of Pee Wee Herman in his latest adventure.

A week ago Ben Affleck had dropped a teaser bomb and showcased what seemed to be a screen test of ‘Deathstroke’ in his upcoming ‘Batman’ movie. Now it was announced that none other than the Adonis incarnate, Joe Manganiello, has been cast in the role. Known primarily for his delicious eye candy roles in ‘True Blood’ and ‘Magic Mike’.

DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns confirmed the casting to the Wall Street Journal in his first interview since his new role overseeing Warner Bros.’ movies based on DC characters.

It’s still not known whether ‘Deathstroke’ will have a cameo in “Justice League,” which is currently shooting in London.

The Second Season Of ‘Stranger Things’ Is Now Official!

Netflix just dropped this video announcing a second season of one its Summer throwback hits ‘Stranger Things’ (the other being The Get Down).

I was away when this dropped and I had completely forgot about the show when I first saw its teaser way back in the year. When I finally plugged back into the web, ‘Stranger Things’ is all the world was talking about.

Naturally, Iset myself up to start a binge watch session of the show, boy did it blow me away. I was completely enamored by all the 80’s references and homages to some of my favorite films and T.V. I’m happy to see it make a comeback for a second season and hopefully the team has got something good lined up for us.

Season 2 of ‘Stranger Things’ is coming sometime in 2017.

International ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Trailer Shows Off More Footage!

If the the new trailer left you requiring a chest box to assist your breathing, then the international trailer won’t do anything for you.

The newest trailer for Gareth Edwards’ ‘Rogue One‘ dropped during the Olympics tonight and boy did it go for the gold. The new trailer opens with an eerily familiar theme that culminates to that final scene of the trailer showing us a glimpse of one films greatest villain in cinematic history, DARTH VADER. Whenever I re-watched the teaser and the trailers I got the same feeling of dread as when I first watched Saving Private Ryan, these guys are about go on a suicide mission and there is little to no hope that they will succeed. The Solar eclipse with the Death Star is just foreboding. In the international trailer they undid that and added back the more hopeful version of the soundtrack which in turn made the Vader reveal tacked on and less organic feeling.

The extra tidbit thrown randomly into the trailer is the reveal was that Jyn’s father is embedded as a spy somewhere himself and is sending messages to the Rebels. Another change was the addition of more brutal scenes and blood that were more than likely edited out for the Olympics.

My Donnie Yen infatuation is growing stronger, I didn’t get to see any new action scenes from him but his Force dialogue gave me goosebumps. We also finally got to hear K-2So voiced by geek favorite Alan Tudyk, who will be giving C3PO a run for his money with the comedic ill timed statistical probabilities. For those who are reading the FANTASTIC Darth Vader comic, K-2SO just helped me give 0-0-0 a voice with his bit of scary politeness.

At this point I may have watched the trailer about 10 times. I am just loving everything about it and I am so excited to be getting a new ‘Star Wars’ every year for the foreseeable future. Also with the rumors of Donald Glover of being the front runner to portray young Lando Calrissian, it’s been a good week for ‘Star Wars’ fans.

‘Star Wars’ R2-D2 Actor, Kenny Baker, Passes Away

Kenny Baker who portrayed R2-D2 in the Star Wars films has passed away at the age of 81.

Despite only being 3 feet and 8 inches tall, Kenny Baker made the R2-D2 character a larger than life icon. He brought so much personality and emotions to a robotic character that would make a fan favorites for decades to come. Artoo wasn’t the only scene stealing character that he portrayed in the Star Wars Franchise. In ‘Return of the Jedi’ he was also Paploo, the Ewok that steals the speeder bike from the storm troopers.

Kenny Baker was a vital piece in the Star Wars machine. His and Anthony Daniel’s portrayal of the droids were a hit with fans that helped the characters spawn spin-off cartoons and comics.

Acting from the age of 16, Kenny Baker, has also been appeared many fan favorite films that include The Elephant Man, Time Bandits, Willow (1988), and Flash Gordon.

These images are absolutely gorgeous and brings a brand new depth and details to the old Stormtrooper suits, that Death Trooper suits are to die for!!!

This Thursday a new trailer is slated to premier during the Olympics, and i can’t wait to see whats in store. I already know that Donnie Yen is going to be favorite character of the film with that staff, i cant wait to see what it can do.

Luke Cage Is The Defender We Need! – New Main Trailer Released!

WOW, This trailer kicks all kinds of ass!! We also get Luke Cage wearing his bracelets and tiara even it’s for a brief moment. The trailer also lends me to believe that the Night Nurse might be playing a bigger role, one can only hope.

I know the current trend is to point out diverse casts in any productions but i have to say Netflix and Marvel are doing such a great job so far. I had not previously looked further than the main characters for Luke Cage and saw some other known actors i was genuinely excited to see. I’ve been enjoying Mahershala Ali in his portrayal of Remi on House of Cards, so to finally seem him come forward as a prominent role will be interesting.

So far I’ve been digging the old school hip hop music chosen for the trailers so I’m wondering if they are using this same type of soundtrack for the show. I noticed in the trailer that Cotton mouth is standing in front of what seems like a Biggie Smalls painting while giving his “king” speech.

We should all be super excited for this next month and putting us one step closer to the Defenders.

The first TV spots for Rogue One has just been released… and it show no new footage, so that’s dissapointing.

I’m so excited for this ‘filler’ movie that I even made the wailing alarm my notification sound for my phone (and it’s been like that ever since the first trailer was released).

The two parts that always gets me hyped are Donnie Yen with the staff, and the AT-AT aiming at the screen. I can’t wait!

The Force Has Awoken at Disney Theme Parks, With More To Come!

Star Wars has always had its place in Disney history, with the always popular Star Tours ride, Jedi Training Academy and the now defunct Star Wars Weekend at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (the latter adding somewhat of a convention feel to the parks). The Disney characters would come out to Star Wars costumes, Star Wars themed parades, actors from the films would be present on certain weekends for picturess and autographs, they would even host special themed stage shows. Like the always popular Hyperspace Hoopla and themed fireworks. Disney really went all out during those weekends.

With the acquisition of the Star Wars property it was just a matter of time before Disney would ramp it up and make it a permanent mainstay at the parks. At last years D23 that is exactly what happened, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced Star Wars Land for both Disney World and Disneyland. Then, with the announcement of the conclusion of Star Wars Weekends and of the also popular holiday “The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights”, we were now one step closer to having Star Wars Land.

I recently took my annual family trip out to Walt Disney World at the same time that the Star Wars Celebration was going on across the pond in Europe. Between all of the theme park stuff and all of the news announcements, I wasn’t expecting a Star Wars overload while on vacation.

First off, I had never been to any of the Star Wars weekends, and didn’t know what to expect of the new offerings that the parks started this Summer. With half of Hollywood Studios closed off with construction walls, Disney added the Star Wars Launch Bay which actually made its debut before the release of The Force Awakens and the most recently added Captain Phasma Storm Trooper March, Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away, and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.

Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple

This kid participation show recently was revamped by receiving a Star Wars: Rebels overlay. Kids now receive training with characters that resembles our rebel heroes and encounter the Seventh Sister Inquisitor and Darth Vader. At the end of the trials they face off on a third villain which I believe varies day to day, I have seen videos of Darth Maul, but witnessed it being Kylo Ren. It’s a cool show for the little ones especially if they get to brag about facing off big Star War Villains.

Star Tours – The Adventure Continues

This ride had huge fan fare and a resurgence in popularity when it received a upgrade back in 2011. With the inclusion of multiples scenes, there are now 96 scene combinations to this ride resulting in a myriad of different ride experiences. The ride now includes 2 new Force Awakens scenes. I was lucky enough to receive both new scenes in my ride combination. First, after the speedster warps, they now land in Jakku where you’re now following the Millennium Falcon while being chased by TIE Fighters, and we then receive an incoming message from Finn. Now this scenes is the best of them all for the simple fact that your are now playing out the chase scene from the movie. I was completely overjoyed feeling like I was in the actual Jakku scene from the movie. After that, the speedster warps again and we receive a special transmission from BB-8 regarding a special mission. I always enjoyed this ride but for you continuity nerds like me, you have to heavily forgive it. There are scenes/characters from the prequels and original trilogy that also used. So the following scene of being warped to the Death Star and fighting Bobba Fett was a bit jarring. Still Fun!

Captain Phasma’s First Order Stormtrooper March

This march actually has a bit of prologue to it. Before each march starts, two Stormtroopers walk from the Launch Bay to the center stage clearing out the path and interacting with park guests. It was really cool to witness, they stopped my wife and harassed her for identification while the other trooper was trying to disperse the huge crowd following them.

The march takes place from the Launch Bay area to the center stage. Once at the stage Captain Phasma orders the trooper to perform some tasks to showcase the might of the First Order. Once I finished watching this I was impressed by the character and texted Jonathan how the park show redeemed her as a character. This show is is very short, and not much besides that.

Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away

This is another live action show that features various characters from all seven films. The stage show starts off with a highlight reel of the seven movies that kind of focuses on the incoming character. We get to see C-3PO, R2D2, Chewbacca, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Bobba Fett, First Order Troopers along with Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren and BB-8. Depending on the character, certain pyrotechnics would go off to add to the effect of presence on stage.

Star Wars Launch Bay

This area, which was formally Animation Courtyard would be a celebration of Disney animation showcasing behind the scenes looks at the process and a display of items used in the current movie. They would also host various popular character meet and greets. Depending on the newest Disney movie out, the area would get a quick re-theme to match the current hit, like for my prior trip it was themed for Wreck-It Ralph. The main stay was always Sorcerer Mickey and Mr. Incredible with Frozone.

Now the area was completely reworked for the sole purpose of Star Wars. When you first enter the area you can opt to watch a 10 minute video clip that works as an update of what going on with the Star Wars Cinematic Universe. After that you ushered into a hall with a bunch of props from the Star Wars Universe. I was happy to see Star Wars Rebels get some love with items replicated into the real world for display. after you work you way around a pod racer you find two separate lines for Kylo Ren and Chewbacca with more props on display to keep you busy while on line. Meeting them was a blast. For Kylo Ren you’re instructed to stand at attention while Kylo Measures you up.

One of the big surprises for me was when we were about to walk out and I stumbled upon a makeshift Cantina with two Jawas walking around dancing and taking pictures. This automatically triggered my memory of this area and I remembered that you can actually trade with them. So after some back and forth bantering and pictures I asked to make a trade, they pulled out a droid leg filled with trinkets. I lost it, they have thought of everything. I traded my sunglasses for a bar of soap and a jewel. they were ecstatic and parading the sunglasses around. I took a celebratory drink of blue milk and went on my merry way.

It wouldn’t be Disney if you didn’t exit through a gift shop. If you are rich and wanted something Star Wars related from this trip, this was the place to get it. I saw things here for sale that I didn’t expect from full blown costumes to the Medals awarded at the end of Episode IV. I’m poor enough, so we opted to each get a Star Wars name tag, which caused a great debate of what our ranks would be.

Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular

This was by far one of the most impressive fireworks display I have seen at Disney World. With a combination of lasers, projections and fireworks. The show is displayed in three “acts”. The first act covers the phenomena that is Star Wars and the magic that brought it to life.

The second act is about the movies and really brings you into the fold. This show is not for the casuals, different scenes are displayed from all seven films so it can be hard to follow. The greatest part of the section was when action is being portrayed on the projection. There was a scene with AT-AT walkers shooting towards the audience and the red lasers shoot across triggering pyrotechnics behind us. The other scene that stood out to me was the Emperor using force lightning and the projections just spreading across the area was so cool. It was just simply amazing.

The Third acts brings it back to being about the movies as whole and setting up the big finale. Different scenes are played out from each movie which are now creating a giant poster of every film until the finale of the iconic pose of Luke Skywalker’s hands clasped together on a lightsaber over the Chinese Theater sending up a giant beam of light into the air as to announce to the world that Star Wars has arrived at the Disney parks.

Just some notes I made from my observations of all the new stuff:

– They really focus on Kylo Ren’s temper tantrum. It gets displayed twice on two separate stage shows.

– Some of the continuity issues bother me, especially on Star Tours. But beggars can’t be choosers.

– The amount of silly merchandise is getting staggering. I saw a $15 popcorn bucket of a tie fighter that could barely hold any popcorn to begin with and the actual thing was massive. Also the Han Solo frozen in carbonite popcorn holder is just wrong.

– All the characters were great in keeping with my expectations of how they would act in the real world, with the exception of Chewbacca who seemed a bit tired.

I’m a sucker for nostalgia and I will miss all the old offerings from Hollywood Studios, but I cant wait for Toy Story Land and Star Wars to open. I fell completely in love with the the new Star Wars area and was just in awe of what could be coming once the Star Wars Land is completed. I’m sure not everything has been revealed to us of what’s to come. What we know so far is that there will be a full functioning Cantina, A Millennium Falcon Ride, and a ride centered around a battle between The First Order and and the Rebels.

On this trip I had the pleasure of visiting Hogwarts and Diagon Alley over at Universal Studios and was completely blown away to the attention to detail that i spent over 2 hours at each area soaking it all up. So if Star Wars Land is to serve as an answer to that, I can only imagine Disney is going to pull all the stops to make this the greatest add-on in theme park history.

Official Logo And Synopsis For ‘Justice League’ Revealed!

Warner Bros. has just released the official synopsis and logo for the upcoming DC superhero team-up movie. Filming is well underway over in Europe so its a matter of time before information starts to leak from the set.

Here’s the synopsis:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

With no word on who the “greater enemy” is we can only assume that it might just be Steppenwolf or Darkseid.

Along with the official synopsis they also gave us our first look at the new Batmobile. Looks like cross between the Tim Burton and the Christopher Nolan versions.

‘Justice League’ will star Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as The Flash with Willem Dafoe in a mystery role and J.K. Simmons playing Commissioner Gordon

The film, directed by Zack Snyder, will be released in theaters on November 17, 2017.

E3 2016: Star Wars Battlefront X-Wing VR Mission Reveal Trailer

At Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, the company revealed Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Missions. This will be a joint venture between Sony and EA for the PlayStation VR experience. Along with the previously announced Batman: Arkham VR, Playstation VR is trying to kick ass right out the gates.

The trailer shows a brief glimpse of the gameplay of X-Wing Mission. Which will give what purchasers of the game always wanted, intergalactic space dogfights! Albeit it will come with a hefty $399 fee, and we thought an extra $50 season pass for more content was a steep price to pay.

Geekscape Reviews – Rick and Morty: Season 2 Blu-Ray

Sometime last year I was on reddit and stumbled upon a Simpsons couch gag that was on the front page. It was a crossover where ‘Ricky and Morty’ crash on the couch and need to try and set things right with hilarious outcomes. That was my first introduction to ‘Rick and Morty’ and my mind was blown by the pure carnage and awesomeness that was presented to me. I proceeded to devour the first season and patiently wait for season 2 to shortly premier.

Season 2 picks up a some time after where season 1 ends, but since the Smith parents were frozen in time, it comes off like it was right after. We aren’t privy to the shenanigans that took place in that lost time. One of the greatest things they did this season was to focus on episodes to episode continuity, i’m a big fan of this type of plot tool that has been used by the likes of South Park and Gravity Falls. Small little connecting fibers that offer a big pay off towards the end of the season. With ‘Rick and Morty’ being much like the latter and giving us little mini mysteries to solve will following along the insane stories. Another upgrade this season was heavily involving the rest of the smith clan, Summer voiced by Spencer Grammer , Beth voiced by Sarah Chalke and my favorite being Jerry voiced by the insanely talented Chris Parnell (seriously this guy is everywhere).

Overall the season was awesome and just raised the bar from last season and cant wait for season 3.

The Blu-Ray contains all 10 gut busting hilarious episodes along with commentary with Dan Harmon, Justin Roiland, Ryan Ridley, and Wes Archer. The blu-ray bonus features is very sparse, here’s a breakdown of whats included.

Deleted Anamatics Sketches:

This 3 sketches that were cut from the season, my favorite being the full ButtHole Ice Cream sketch. With only 3 sketches totaling in 2 minutes nothing else can be said about this bonus.

Rick and Morty Season 2 Premier Party featuring Chaos Chaos:

This was a basically a 43 minute live music video for the band Chaos Chaos while series creator Justin Roiland created live drawings in the background. I was kinda hoping mini interviews with the cast and creators about the season providing a little more in depth look into the creation of the show. I know from a previous “behind the scenes” mocumentary video its not really there thing to record that type of bonus material.

Animatics:

Animatics of all 10 episodes from the season. Since i’m not gifted as an artist these features always get wasted on me since i cant appreciate them.

Bonus:

There was also a handbook on how to care for a plumbus, i’m still not entirely sure what i’m using it for.

While typing out this review i left the blu ray on the menu and noticed that all the featured songs from the season were playing. Wish that was a Bonus Feature being able to access those clips and songs.

Netflix’s “The Little Prince” Trailer is Here and it’s Beautiful

After Paramount decided to not distribute the film in the U.S. merely a week from its official release many were left wondering what would happen to the film. That’s when the Netflix juggernaut stepped in and acquired it and slated it for an August 5, 2016 release for theaters and live streaming.

The film looks gorgeous switching between computer animation and stop motion for the novel’s story line. Netflix may have bought itself this year an Oscar contending animation film. With a almost $100 million in global box office gross and a rating of 94% certified fresh, it’s obvious this movie will prove to be a good investment for Netflix.

A little girl lives in a very grown-up world with her mother, who tries to prepare her for it. Her neighbor, the Aviator, introduces the girl to an extraordinary world where anything is possible, the world of the Little Prince.

CW Announces SUPER Cross-Over Event

After the news hit that Supergirl was making a move to The CW it was only a matter of time before they would announce a four-way crossover with Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

I hope this equals to Greg Berlanti being more hands on with Supergirl and bringing the tone of the show closer to that of its sister shows. I know people have a kind of tough on Supergirl, but i feel like the show did lack that certain je ne sais quoi that we we got from the Arrowverse shows.

Cant wait for The CW’s super line up next fall!!

New ‘Ghostbusters’ Trailer Featuring Slimer & The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man?!?

The second trailer for the Ghostbuster movie has been released and its featuring some familiar faces this time around. I feel like this is a way better trailer than the previous ones, showcasing more of the ghosts effects that we are to expect in the movie.

The trailer seems to be sending a message to its haters in the form a gag where Leslie Jones’ character, Patty, tries to go crowd surfing and no one catches her and she proclaims “..i don’t if it was a race thing or a lady thing but i’m mad as hell”. I for one am tired of the hate being spewed at the movie. It”s reminiscent to the massive heat that “Spy” was receiving until it was released and is now currently holding a 94% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Either way I’m excited to get a new Gangbusters movie and can only hope for the best.

Dreamworks Releases All-New Trailer For ‘VOLTRON LEGENDARY DEFENDER’

We got our first trailer for the new Netflix Original Series ‘Voltron Legendary Defender’. The trailer which seems to cover the one hour origin story definitely focuses on the lightheartedness and humor, reminds me of the Thundercats reboot.

For now I will reserve judgment since the show is co-produced Joaquim dos Santos who was also a co-producer of The Last Airbender Series ‘Legend of Korra’, which is known for founding that perfect balance of being goofy and serious throughout the series.

The Netflix original series DreamWorks ‘Voltron Legendary Defender’ reimagines one of the most popular fan-favorite shows of all time in this all-new comedic action-packed show from executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos (The Legend of Korra, Avatar: The Last Airbender) and co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery (The Legend of Korra). Five unsuspecting teenagers, transported from Earth into the middle of a sprawling intergalactic war, become pilots for five robotic lions in the battle to protect the universe from evil. Only through the true power of teamwork can they unite to form the mighty warrior known as Voltron.

DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender debuts on Netflix June 10, with a special hour-long origin story called “The Rise of Voltron,” followed by 10 episodes.

From Marvel With Love, Feige Committed To Making ‘Black Widow’ Movie

Marvel will finally let Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) take on her own solo film. Fans of the MCU have been wanting this for a long time especially during the public outcry for more female leading roles in Hollywood. I just hope people wont complain about the Russian character being whitewashed. Marvel had even tried to quench that thirst by previously stating that the Captain Marvel movie would be about Carol Danvers.

In an interview with Deadline, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige spoke about a solo Black Widow film, and her role in the MCU.

“We’ve announced the next nine movies, ten counting Civil War, through the end of 2019. Where we go beyond that are ongoing discussions that we’ll focus on in the next few years because we have a lot to do before then. Of the characters that you’ve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow.

“We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a standalone franchise.”

In the mean time you can catch Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) choosing sides in Captain America: Civil War, now in theaters.
