Hail, Ceasar! star Alden Ehrenreich has landed the coveted role of young Han Solo in the next stand-alone ‘Star Wars’ spinoff film which will center around the early days of the space smuggler.

Plot details have been scarce but we know it will focus on Han Solo’s adventures before he joined the Rebel Alliance In Episode 4.  With the announcements of Star Wars Celebration touching down in Orlando in 2017 and the D23 Expo also returning in 2017, I will expecting a lot more info to be released around then concerning the the new film.

han solo shot first star wars

The untitled spinoff is being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and is slated to hit theaters May 25, 2018.

Growing up i was a huge fan of original series Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, i was enthralled by drama that Tommy brought by being the green Ranger and as The White Ranger. So when I saw the new Rangers suits the nostalgia train pulled in that are looking pretty cool. The new suits definitely has  some of that throwback look from the early 90’s series mixed in with the look of the Iron Man suits. Along with the new Rita Repulsa looks, so everything is shaping up to look like a cool modern reboot but only time will tell when we get a trailer and can judge it a little bit better.

prangers

The reboot will star Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa),  Becky G (Yellow Ranger – Trini), Ludi Lin (Black Ranger – Zack), Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger – Jason), Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger – Kimberly), and RJ Cyler (Blue Ranger – Billy). I’m still waiting to find out who will be the roles of Zordon and Alpha.

Here’s hoping that it follows in line with the TMNT reboot and keeping to a similar tone that made it so popular and still relevant to today’s audience.

Good Luck Rangers.

‘Power Rangers’ hits theaters March 24, 2017.

My initial reaction to this news:

Who

Thanks to IMDB I see she is best know as the seductive robot Ava, in Ex Machina and in Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Oh, and she also won an Oscar for her role in last year’s The Danish Girl.

Apparently this was a  sought after role that every young actress was trying for with Daisy Ridley, Cara Delevigne, Emilia Clarke and Saoirse Ronan all rumored at some point.

With the prior actress to helm this role, Angelina Jolie, it’s not hard to see why. Vikander is hoping for a similar path, and the Tomb Raider movie is a good jumping off point, just like it was for Jolie.

Vikander is set to star opposite Matt Damon in the upcoming Jason Bourne film.

I mean really who didn’t think this was gonna happen?

Jon Bernthal  absolutely slayed in his role of vengeful military veteran Frank Castle. The Punisher made his debut in season 2 as anti-hero who brought his own lethal form of justice to Hell’s Kitchen in contrast to that of the Daredevil.Writer and executive producer Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal, Casualty) will serve as show runner. Netflix and Marvel are expected to publicly announce the project later today.

When i first made my way back into comes, one of the first comics recommended to me was The Punisher Max series and The Marvel Knight series. I was blown away because i hadn’t know comics to have mature story lines at the time. I completely gobbled it up and spent many Wednesday picking up the trades and hardcovers. There so many story lines to chose from that  the possibilities are endless for the upcoming series.

These are my top three story lines that i would love to see Netflix make happen:

punisher-max-vol-6-barracuda

“Barracuda”: The Punisher (Max) Vol. 6.

Barracuda is one of the greatest foes to ever go toe to toe with Frank Castle and pushed him to his limits. Barracuda was just fucking brutal and didn’t give any fucks in what stood in his way to get to Frank. Much like Frank, this guy can take a licking and keep on ticking, nothing seems to stop him and is almost impervious to any sort of pain, if anything he thrives on it. Bringing his story line might be a bit to aggressive and violent to start off, but I can dream can’t I?

Punisher_-_War_Zone_Vol_2_1a

“Welcome Back, Frank”: The Punisher (Marvel Knights)

Lets right that wrong that was the The Punisher movie and lets use the source material the way Garth Ennis intend it to be. Despite her small stature, Ma Gnucchi was a force to be reckoned with. Ma was the matriarch of the Gnucci Crime Family sets off on a vendetta after Frank kills her sons as an example to let the underground world knows hes back in action.(sound familiar?) Though i have to admit that the ending of this story line was a bit crazy and probably wouldn’t make it to adaptation. I really don’t want spoil it but it involves Frank knocking out a polar bear at the Central Park Zoo.

51tq51-KpmL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

“Homless” : The Punisher (Max)

Okay this one is completely doable for Netflix!!! Maybe not in the first season but maybe a season 3 after the Defenders movie. The Punisher is at his lowest point – homeless, penniless, gun-less. But that doesn’t him from going after Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin. At this point Kingpin is completely paranoid that someone is out to kill him and doesn’t trust anyone in his organization. So he decides outsource (how capitalist of him) a new bodyguard, Elektra.  Also involved in the story line is Kingpin’s wife Vanessa Fisk and really shows off how much of a force of nature she really is. we got a taste of it during the first season of Daredevil when she stands by her man the Kingpin. This story line written by Jason Aaron ends the Marvel Max run of The Punisher and does so in great fashion with a great twist ending.

Either way, any Punisher story line written by Garth Ennis or Jason Aaron is a can’t lose decision by the show runners. Can’t wait to see this come to fruition.

Howdy fellas, gather round the flame as i spin yer a tale of a lovely woman urging her husband for some attention but He cant. He’s busy roaming the country side and skinning mountain lions for it’s pelt and meat all from the comfort of his living room in front of his x-box. This is a tale of Jonathan London a week into playing Red Dead Redemption 2.

red-dead-redemption-train-robbery

A big rumor is going around that the fabled ‘Red Dead Redemption’ sequel will be announced at this years E3 in June. The working title is ‘Red Dead Redemption 2 : Legends Of The West’ and it will apparently offer two playable characters. With a release date of Fall 2017, Jonathon will have enough time to practice when the HD remake of the original gets released for current gen systems.

Are you excited to ride a horse to death and get stuck on the mountains to fend off the dangerous wildlife? You darn tootin!!

En Sabah Nur.

En Sabah Nur.

En Sabah Nur.

Praise be unto En Sabah Nur!!!

The one true GOD, Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), has come to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. He will unleash upon us his four horsemen, Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Archangel (Ben Hardy) and the disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender).

As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young inexperienced X-Men. These fools are nothing but whinny valley kids, Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan); a mall rat, Jubilee (Lana Condor); and a circus freak, Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee). They do have a bad ass speedster though, i mean have you see this guy in action? DAMNNN QUICKSILVER (Evan Peters). These losers will try and stop the one true God in a feeble attempt to save mankind from complete and utter destruction that it deserves.

Witness the destruction of the weak humans in theaters May 27, 2016

Hollywood Reporter has just announced that Warner Bros. has cast J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon in the new Justice League movies!!

No stranger to the comic book movie universe, J.K. has been a fan favorite for his excellent portrayal of J. Jonah Jameson in the spiderverse. Some im sire were hoping he would be able to once again reprise his role in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.

‘Justice League’, which will be directed by Zack Snyder, sees heroes Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) teaming up to combat a threat beyond each member’s capabilities.

‘Justice League: Part One’ starts shooting in mid-April with a release date of November 17, 2017.

Deadline is reporting that Sony and Marvel  Studios has cast actress/singer Zendaya (K.C. Undercover) as a lead character named Michelle.

The are no details yet on the character, but one theory is that the Michelle character might be Michelle Gonzalez who was once a roommate of Peter Parker who he shared a one night stand with in the comics. If Zendaya is to become Peter Parker’s leading lady in the Spider-Man reboot, it would be a  step in the right direction in casting a more diverse actors into leading roles. If they are excluding the roles of MJ and Gwen it would be something cool to see Sony going all in on getting away from any origin stories.

The film will be released July 7, 2017

I will admit, nothing that was shown or discussed prior to this trailer did not have me excited at all for the new Ghostbusters. Now, things have changed. I am smiling ear to ear at the insane silliness of this reboot. I now have trust in Paul Feig handling this project.

635925937309064760-Screen-Shot-2016-03-03-at-6.15.32-AM

The trailer opens with a very similar scene to the first Ghostbusters, dealing with ghoul in a library that looks innocent enough and then just lets loose a barrage of slime onto one of the Ghostbusters. I LOVED IT!!! Also from the trailer it might seem that they have combined the characters of Louis Tully and Janine into one role to be portrayed by Chris Hemsworth. I was also happy to see they stayed trued to the form of Slimer from the original series. This is gonna be a fun summer flick and will be worthy of carrying on the Ghostbusters name.

Ghostbusters will be answering the call on July 15, 2016.

As reported by Disney, Big Hero 6 is returning back as a tv show for the brother network Disney XD in 2017.

The series will pick up immediately after the events in the film. Hiro is now the newest prodigy at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. The show will focus on two aspects the daunting academic and social challenges of being the big/little man on campus and the challenges Off campus, as the stakes are raised for Big Hero 6 as they must protect their city from an array of scientifically enhanced villains.

No word yet on the villains, but hopefully we can get some Marvel bad guys and get some animated character  synergy. This is a Marvel property after all, even if it is separate from the MCU. At the least, can we get another Stan Lee cameo!?!

Sony just delivered a Valentines teaser for the new ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot. We get a quick glimpse of the armed services sprining into action to take care if some unknown conflict and the very important questioned being asked of “who we gonna call” if they cant handle said conflict. I’ve been holding out judgment of the new movie until i can see more and hopefully the teailer can swing me into getting wxcited for the film.

The films staring the all female ghostbusting cast (Wiig, McCarthy, McKinnon, Jones) will have its official trailer releaser on March 3, 2016

‘The Flash’ set to take a trip to National City.

According to a press release, ‘The Flash’s Grant Gustin will be guest starring on ‘Supergirl’.

There are no other details as of yet, including whether Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) will be returning the favor and make an appearance on ‘The Flash’. If She were to make an appearance on The CW, one would hope for a trifecta event that would also include The Arrow.

2016-02-03 14_34_08-Instagram

The Team-up comes as no surprise since they all share the same executive producers, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. The crossover has been long rumored and on everybody’s wish list basically since the Supergirl’ series was announced. The only other cross network character crossover that I could think of was Detective Munch who has randomly popped up in TV popular detective shows. Kudos for Berlanti and Kreisberg for getting all the networks to play nice and make this momentous crossover happen.

The Fastest Man Alive will team up with the Girl of Steel on March 28, when the Flash is slated to make an appearance on CBS’ Supergirl’.

‘Supergirl’ airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, ‘The Flash’ airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

Stakes! Box Art 2DWith the growing popularity Marceline and  one of the better story arcs from last season, she was finally given a whole mini series, Stakes!, which originally aired back in November on Cartoon Network. The series takes a look at Marceline’s struggle with being a vampire in the Land of Ooo.

The Miniseries consists of eight episodes going over her constant internal struggles with being a vampire with flashbacks of her time as a vampire hunter and how it ultimately lead to her becoming one herself. Marceline decides that she no longer wants to be a vampire, and turns to Princess Bubblegum to make that wish come true. Just as PB removes the vampire essence from Marceline, five of her foes  that were thought to be long dead reappear. Marceline now must faces her old foes including her biggest nemesis, the Vampire King.

S7e7_marcy_and_simon (1)

As a casual fan of  Adventure Time, I was always a big fan of any of the story lines that revolved around Marceline, especially if it includes Simon (a.k.a. Ice King). I thoroughly enjoyed the series and appreciate the overall message of self acceptance and the journey one must take to overcome it. Watching this with the kid, I asked her what did she take away from the series and her response was perfect. She understands that one doesn’t have to go through the rough times alone, and that friends and family will always be there to help.

Unlike the main series, the plot was kept very tight and forward moving without much of the usual random crazy antics. My favorite episode of the series happens to be “May I Come In?” Taking cues from classic vampire lure, the gang has to use its wits to somehow outsmart a shape shifting vampire known as Hierophant (Paul Williams) whose greatest weakness is not being able to enter any premises without permission.

The ‘Adventure Time: Stakes!’ DVD consists of the eight episodes of the series, animatics, song demos and an art gallery. All the bonus features that gives a nice look into what goes into making the show. The DVD was just recently released on January 19 and is currently available on Amazon.

It’s really a great overall addition to the show, and a great way to flesh out one of its most popular characters.

Warner Brothers presented a standalone special on The CW tonight, showcasing off the upcoming and future film projects coming from DC Films. The special was hosted by the comic book man himself, Kevin Smith, along with DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns. The special mainly served as a way to get people up to speed on who the characters are and what roles they are going to play in the upcoming DC cinematic universe. With Kevin Smith serving up the soft ball sized questions and Geoff Johns explaining everything pretty well, that it served well what it set out to do. Watching Kevin Smith’s enthusiastic responses really sucked me into the hype for the new DC films.

suicidesquadprops-164287

First up, they cover ‘Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’. Nothing really new here, they just show the same clips from the previous trailers with the voice overs from the cast members recanting their first encounters with DC comics. Geoff Johns just goes over the motivation behind the two heroes clashing head to head along with some commentary clips from Zach Snyder. ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ is out out in theaters March 25, 2016.

SuicideSquad

Next up, Suicide Squad. I’m actually more excited for this film than Batman v. Superman. I can already tell that Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as Joker are just going to steal the movie. They premiered the new trailer which got me really hyped with the Bohemian Rhapsody track. Not much was revealed about the plot aside from what we already know from the previous trailer. I don’t care about the naysayers, I think The Joker looks bad-ass and that laugh was pretty good. The Suicide Squad try to save the world on August 5, 2016.

WonderWomanLogo

Wonder Woman is up next, now based on what they show, which is not much, it left me flat. The first thing that I thought about after seeing some of the scenes was them taking the same route as Captain America: The First Avenger. Gal Gadot does look phenomenal as Wonder Woman and Ido hope later on we see more of the plot in order to get me hyped for the film. Take a look at the first footage from the ‘Wonder Woman’ film here. ‘Wonder Woman’ is set to be released in Summer 2017.
JusticeLeague

Kevin Smith then segued into who else would be in the Justice league Movies. During this part we some quick flashes of what seems to be some concept art for the other characters in the film. At this point Geoff Johns gives a quick rundown of the back stories for the other characters that include Aquaman (Jason Mamoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) , Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and the announcement of the night being that Green Lantern and the Green Lantern Corps will be joining the Justice League.

One of the interesting things happened during the explanation of The Flash, Geoff Johns gives kudos to the TV version of the flash and explains this flash will be different as its the cinematic version of the character with a slightly  different origin. The bring up how Barry can easily time travel and access different planes of reality. ‘Justice League’ is slated to be released on November 2017.

I’m excited to see DC finally step it up and go head to head with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Only time will tell if its too late or not enough to compete. Are you guys excited let us know in the comments section.

DC Films has revealed new ‘Justice League’ concept art on its new, official Facebook page.

justice league concept art

The art arrives ahead of the half-hour television special tonight on The CW called ‘DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League’, which will air at 9:30pm ET and will feature a brand-new trailer for Suicide Squad. The special will include a “sneak peak” at the upcoming ‘Wonder Woman’ movie, as well as new details on the upcoming ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’.

I really dislike this concept art a lot. It is just ridiculous that there is any lens flare on it at all, let alone 5. The font is terrible, looks like something that was mocked up via Microsoft Word. Hopefully we see something more promising tonight during the movie special

Also tonight ahead of the movie special will be another one titled ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time is Now’, which will serve as a primer for those eagerly anticipating The CW’s new ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ series, which is set to premieres January 21, 2016

After being leaked, Paramount has decided to release the official teaser trailer for ‘Star Trek Beyond’  which was to be attached to ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

With the departure of J.J. Abrams from the project, Justin Lin (Fast and the Furious) steps in for the directorial duties. The teaser already showcases that by featuring a stunt using a primitive two-wheeled vehicle to the classical tune of Beastie Boy’s Sabotage. By the looks of it this going to be a very different movie. Reminiscent of when John Woo took over directing duties for Mission Impossible and changed the tone of the franchise. Which was a good thing in my opinion, the last film was very moody and had no life into it.

The returning ‘Star Trek Beyond’ cast line up includes Chris Pine as Captain James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Karl Urban as Leonard McCoy a.k.a. Bones, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov. Idris Elba will be portraying the films secret villain role.

‘Star Trek Beyond’ will warp into theaters on July 8, 2016.

Hello, boys! We’re BAAAAAACK!

Fox has just released the first trailer for ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ the follow up to 1996’s massive Summer blockbuster.

This is definitely a sequel that, when announced, caused me to roll my eyes. I have to say that hearing the Bill Pullman speach over the trailer got me kinda hyped for it. Made me want to pop in my VHS copy of ID4.

Almost the whole cast is back minus the mega star of the first film, Randy Quaid. Will Smith is also not returning either. The role of action black guy will be filled by his ‘step son’ of the film Dylan (Jessie Usher).

The Aliens are back and revenge is a bitch. They have come back in bigger numbers and in bigger ships. The nations of the Earth has teamed up  for an interplanetary defence system using the technology recovered from the war of 1996. That system is about to get put to the test.

‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ invades theaters June 24, 2016

spoiler-alert-a-supercut-of-the-640x360

This new cut of the Star Wars trailer has a bunch of incremental new scenes added into what we have already seen.\

They may or may not be piecing together some of the plot of the film.

One such scene sees Finn and Rey running claiming to have a pilot at the ready which eludes to Han being with them as it cuts to the Millennium Falcon in the same desert scene.

Obviously there is still not too much being shown. With six days left, only time will tell!!

The ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘ trailer is upon here, all praise Apocalypse!! Oscar Isaac will portray En Sabah Nur (better known as Apocalypse), is a centuries-old mutant who was worshipped in Ancient Egypt as a God. After awakening in the 1980s, he is dissatisfied with the state of the mutant’s on the planet, and goes on to recruit Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) to be a part of his Four Horsemen to help him cleanse the world.

I’ve always been a great fan of the X-Men Franchise, so i’m definitely excited to catch the latest installment. I think my favorite thing about the X-Men franchise is that instead of rebooting the series it decided to keep the history and continuity of the earlier films. Which probably had more to do with keeping Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. And to rectify the not so popular ‘Last Stand’, and the status of the staple X-men characters it went back and time and retconned it. GOTTA LOVE COMICS!!

X-Men Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27th.

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

Disney released the teaser trailer for its upcoming live-action adaptation of Roald Dahl’s ‘The BFG’. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film will follow Roald Dahl’s classic novel about Sophie’s adventure with The Big Friendly Giant. This marks the first time Steven Spielberg will direct a feature for the house of mouse.

Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies) appears as the Big Friendly Giant, with Bill Hader, Penelope Wilton and Rebecca Hall also appearing in the film.

I personally don’t remember reading the book or watching the 1989 cartoon movie, so I will have to default to my daughter about her anticipation for this film (assuming she would be excited at all).

Being that there is a perfect trifecta with Disney, Spielberg, and Dahl, I’m sure that it will be a great movie. The real question is whether or not today’s crowds will come out to see it?

Hopefully a full trailer can sway me into getting excited into the taking the family to the theaters.

Disney’s The BFG comes to theaters July 1, 2016!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG5MtenlP-A

The talents of three of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg –
finally unite to bring Dahl’s beloved classic “The BFG” to life. Directed by Spielberg, Disney’s “The BFG” tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. The BFG (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the BFG prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle.

Upon her arrival in Giant Country, Sophie, a precocious 10-year-old girl from London, is initially frightened of the mysterious giant who has brought her to his cave, but soon comes to realize that the BFG is actually quite gentle and charming, and, having never met a giant before, has many questions. The BFG brings Sophie to Dream Country where he collects dreams and sends them to children, teaching her all about the magic and mystery of dreams.

Having both been on their own in the world up until now, their affection for one another quickly grows, but Sophie’s presence in Giant Country has attracted the unwanted attention of the other giants, who have become increasingly more bothersome. Sophie and the BFG soon depart for London to see the Queen (Penelope Wilton) and warn her of the precarious giant situation, but they must first convince the Queen and her maid, Mary (Rebecca Hall), that giants do indeed exist. Together, they come up with a plan to get rid of the giants once and for all.

According to Deadline, Fox has inked a deal with Sylvester Stallone to develop and executive produce a ‘Rambo‘ series tentatively titled ‘Rambo: New Blood‘ . The series is rumored to explore the complex relationship between Rambo and his son, J.R., an ex-Navy SEAL. It’s still not clear whether or not Stallone will be a main stay on the show or just show up in the pilot as a introduction for J.R. since it has never been previously mentioned that Rambo ever fathered a child.

rambostallone

A fifth ‘Rambo’ movie has been in the works for years. The most recent news was that the final movie would be ‘Rambo: Last Stand’, that would have seen Rambo taking the fight to Mexican drug cartels. I would have loved to see this version of a Rambo going head to head with Danny Trejo in a ‘El Mariachi’ style of movie.

Are you excited for a ‘RAMBO’ T.V. series? Let us know in the comments.

SPOILERS BELOW

The-Walking-Dead1

Exciting news is being reported by The Hollywood Reporter, that AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ has cast Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan. Morgan was one of multiple actors (including Timothy Olyphant, Matt Dillon and Garret Dillahunt, among others) who were considered at some point for the role. Production on the season six finale begins this week in Atlanta.

The character will first arrive in the season six finale and the become a series regular for season 7. Negan is the violent leader of a group known as The Saviors who use force and intimidation to subjugate other communities — including Alexandria. Negan first appears in the 100th issue of the comic series when he crosses paths with Rick Grimes, who had been vocal about bringing down the man who takes half the community’s supplies in exchange for “protection” from walkers.

I’m just hoping that they stick close to the source material for Negan as opposed to how they handled The Governor (David Morrissey). I just hated how tame he was up until the end, in the comics he was a more openly dastardly and ruthless. Coupled with the remixed deaths of some pivotal characters during their times at the prison, it really made them my least liked seasons of ‘The Walking Dead’

In the comics Negan is completely brutal. He wields his bloodthirsty barbed wire Bat, Lucille, delivering justice. He is also the one truly responsible for the gruesome death of Glenn. I always had the feeling that Glenn and Nicholas falling into the zombie horde was going to be a false death. My theory is that Nicholas’ body fell on top of Glenn and the zombies somehow ignore Glenn as he lays there motionless and manages to escape after they finish feeding.

‘Inside Out’ is the story of an 11-year-old girl, Riley (Kaitlyn Dias), whose life is uprooted when her father (Kyle MacLachlan) takes a new job in San Francisco. The move turns out to be tougher than she expected goes as expected as she has a hard time adjusting to her new home and school, while still missing her old friends.

Meanwhile inside her mind, the five emotions are running the show in the headquarters: Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger. Together they are responsible for how Riley deals with situations with the proper emotional responses. The move also disrupts life in headquarters as Joy and Sadness have a scuffle and get inadvertently sucked up by one of the long-term memory tube. Now the two go on a bi-polar adventure in a race to help Riley regain her emotions with the help of the worlds greatest friend, BING BONG.

Inside-Out-Bing-Bong

As the father of a 10 year old daughter, this was hitting to close to home. I have found myself thinking about my daughter “why she is acting way to emotional” over spilled milk. Now i know it was Sadness in control. Pixar normally gets me to tear up but ‘Inside Out’ was the first to have me let out an audible cry during the film. My wife and daughter gave me a weird look as the tears rolled down my cheek. My family really enjoyed the film and really rank it high with best of the Pixar films. My only complaint was that it needed more Bing Bong. I feel like ‘Inside Out’ can be on par with Dr. Suess’ “Oh, the places you’ll go!” as a good coming of age story to experience with your kids as they grow older.

InsideOutBlurayComboArt

The bonus features on the Inside Out’ Blu-ray are so abundant that they needed two discs! We get tons of interviews from a variety of people involved in production of the film. The Bonus features include:

Riley’s First Date? – This was a cute little short, it delves in the command center of Riley’s parents and how they deal with her going on her first date. It’s not the best of the Pixar shorts but it was a fun none the less. I think every down to Earth dad can relate to Riley’s dad and how he handled the situation especially when they found a common bond.  Hopefully the next short can be a Bing Bong Prequel.

LAVA (Theatrical Short Film) – When i first saw this short at the theaters before Inside Out, it set me and everyone else up emotionally. I witnessed tears shed and couples embracing each other after the short. Nothing has changed, this short got me good with its catchy tune lovely message.

Story of the Story – A film 4 years in the making, Director Pete Docter talks about the evolution of ‘Inside Out’. The original concept of the films is completely different from what we got as the final product. There was a lot of concepts that went though trial and error including teaming up Joy with all the different motions including Bing Bong to be the main protagonists for the film. Oh Bing Bong.

Paths to Pixar: The Women of Inside Out – My daughter is at a crossroads where she changes her future ambitions everyday. Lately she’s decided she wants to be an artist and animator, asking me recently for an animators table for Christmas.  So this was one of my favorites of the bonus features because it helps deliver a strong message for young woman that anything is possible with hard work and determination. This feature follows women that were involved with the making of ‘Inside Out‘ giving anecdotal experiences in achieving there dream careers. Nothing involving Bing Bong here.

Mixed EmotionsThe filmmakers talk about how they decided which emotions to focus on in the story and how they went about creating each one’s distinct personality and visual identity. Very early on before it was settled on Sadness, Fear and Bing Bong were the top choices. It would have been interesting to see it with Bill Hader taking the lead with Amy Pohler.

Mapping the Mind – The artists take you through the process of designing and creating the look  inside of Riley’s mind and how Command Center had evolved. One favorite area that went by the wayside was a sort of shanty town where Bing Bong lead over other imaginary friends.

Our Dads, the Filmmakers – This was a behind the scenes look at the creative process between long time collaborators Pete Docter and Michael Giacchino hosted by their daughter Elie Docter (daughter of director, Pete Docter) and Grace Giacchino (daughter of composer, Michael Giacchino).

Into the Unknown: The Sound of Inside Out – This is a cool look at the process sound designer Ren Klyce. You get a first hand look at some of the objects used in creating the aural world of ‘Inside Out’.

The Misunderstood Art of Animation Film Editing – Learn more about the crucial role of an animation film editor, who helps take the story from its earliest, most exploratory versions, to the final, polished film you see onscreen.

Deleted Scenes – This seemed more of early concepts than an actual deleted scenes.

  • Riley Grows Up – In this scene from a version of the film where the primary relationship was between Joy and Fear (then named Freddie), the emotions begin to notice a change in Riley.
  • Joy’s Decline – Joy’s struggles to make sense of the limitations on Riley’s behavior that seem to be springing up at every turn.
  • Misdirection – Joy and Freddie (Fear) encounter a group of Riley’s “retired” imaginary friends, including an early version of Big Bong.
  • Construction – Joy is guided through Riley’s mind by a radical non-conformist, Bing Bong, outraged by the demolition of older areas like Imagination Park.

‘Inside Out’ is available now on on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download.

It’s been 5 years since our last foray with Alice In Wonderland and today the first full trailer for the sequel debuted online. ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’ returns with most of the cast — among them Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska and Helena Bonham Carter and the voices of Stephen Fry, Alan Rickman and Michael Sheen. This time Tim Burton is not directing, and James Bobin (Muppets) will have that honor.

Newcomer Sacha Baron Cohen plays Time, who is part-human, part-clock. When Alice returns to Wonderland, she must go on a quest to borrow the Chronosphere, a metallic globe inside the Grand Clock’s chamber. This sends her into the past, where she comes across friends and enemies at different points in their lives, and a race to save Depp’s Hatter before time runs out.

Disney’s ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’ is in theaters May 27!

FULL STEAM AHEAD!!  The ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ media blitz is on. Just the other night I saw a Star Wars make up commercial, I now can get that perfect shade of Max Rebo Blue eye shadow. Anyways, we are 43 days (42 for France) away from the premiere and today we were given a nice treat.

The official character posters for Rey, Leia, Kylo Ren, Han Solo, and Finn were revealed today. Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega each revealed their own posters via Twitter and Instagram. Each character is juxtaposed with their weapon of choice,  Rey holds her staff defiantly; Leia confidently peers through a data screen; Kylo Ren’s lightsaber crackles; a grim Han Solo holds his blaster at the ready; and Finn looks stoic with a blue-bladed Jedi weapon.

They are are cool looking and any little bit of glimpses into the new movie is welcomed, but I just don’t get the covering of the right eye. Am I missing the significance of that visual cue?

Variety is reporting Pom Klementieff (OldBoy) is in talks to join Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’

Klementieff joins returning cast Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and David Bautista, along with James Gunn returning to helm the pic.

Now let the wild speculations of what character she will be playing and whether she will be friend or foe in the new movie. The Hollywood Reporter says that Marvel Studios conducted a wide search for the mystery role, which called for an Asian actress, so that may or may not help narrow that down.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ drops on May 5, 2017

The Season seems to pick up right where we left off at the end of the special “All This and Gargantua-2” that aired last January.

Being a ‘The Venture Bros.fan is possibly the most frustrating and equally rewarding thing one cane be. It has been almost 3 years since the prior season ended which it frequently does between the seasons. But when it does finally air it is so funny and chock full of pop references that i’m just left all giddy and smiling at the end of each episode.  Thankfully, we had the special to hold us over for a bit but with no real news of when the actual season would air.

Well the wait is over, as Adult Swim has dropped the trailer and it seems like some pivotal characters are about to go through an overhaul. My takeaway from the trailer is that money changes everything and that’s no exception on the Venture Compound.

The new season will premiere on February 7, 2016.

This year’s New York Comic-Con felt largely the same as always; no real Earth-shattering announcements, just a ton of cool moments here and there at many of the panels. Sadly, I didn’t get to attend any panels due to a change in policy. Some panels were moved over to the Hammerstein Ballroom and for the Javits Center, one was now required to line up to get wristbands for the big panels which in turn made the smaller panels even harder to get into with the influx of people not being able to get to the main stage.

Because of an upcoming vacation I was not able to take the time off to go Thursday or Friday. Luckily, despite the absence of our fearless leader, I still managed to have a damned good time. I spent my day on Saturday just taking in the sites and walking the convention inside and out.

For me the highlight of NYCC is always Artist’s Alley where the creators so chill and all artist are easily approachable (and Jonathan agrees). I took this time to just chat up with my favorite creators and artists. I was able to catch up with Stray writer Vito Delsante and Disney cover artists extraordinaire James Silvani and Amy Mebberson. From there, I just normally just walk up and down the aisles admiring all the art on display for sale.

Of what I consider to be the big three comic companies, Marvel was the clear leader of the pack. Marvel had the biggest floor area, showcasing its properties and even having a stage set up for daily events and announcements. They even had a replica of Jessica Jones’ office from the upcoming Netflix series. Image comics was next, their booth is more of a huge store with areas at the end to accommodate for signings and products spread across in between. DC was not even on the floor but had a set up at the very end of the Jacob Javits area with one lone table, its only redeeming quality was having props from the Batman v. Superman movie and the free Wifi courtesy of the Lex Luthor Corp.

The cosplay was on point this year, people have definitely stepped their game for the big East coast show. You can see all of our favorite cosplay from the convention floor right here! The showstopper was, by far, the 9 foot tall Iron-man Hulkbuster armor, that thing was beautiful! As Jonathan predicted after he reviewed Netflix’s Daredevil, the con floor was littered with the black suit Matt Murdock. It was only rivaled by the 2nd laziest costume “Legends of the Hidden Temple” contestants. The irony being that none of the people that Isaw would have made it past the first temple guard let alone solve the shrine of the silver monkey.

One of the coolest thing at the con was the Jurassic World raptor that was there to promote the BluRay release. They also dressed the big convention doors to look like the Jurassic Park gate. With the iconic music playing on loop at both stations, the raptor was there to meet and con goers under the strict supervisions of its JP handler preventing you from becoming raptor pellets. It was a fun little show, and the synced sounds effects where a nice touch.

Another cool area that was also not set up on the show floor was Ash vs. Evil Dead booth. This was a  cool looking spot which was a prop set of what Ash’s living situation will look like on the show. Once inside the squalor that is Ash’s haunted trailer home completely littered with empty booze bottles and demons. Earlier in the day the cast was on hand signing autographs for fans. I really can’t wait for the show to premiere this Halloween!

Surprisingly, one of the funnest moments that I had all weekend was kids day, when I took Little Yanks to the Nickelodeon Booth for some swag. We had arrived early so the super friendly staff chatted up with us and we got into to talking about The Splat. Those of you who grew up in the 90’s should most be interested in this; Nick has decided that after 10pm its sister channel Teen Nick will switch programming to The Splat where it will air 90’s Nick programming along with the classic commercials and bumpers from Stick Stickly. As soon as we got home I checked it out, and my only problem was that I had forgotten just how bad SD TV looks. Still, I didn’t let it deter me as I sat there watching Figure It Out for the next hour.  We also got take a spin and win some cool prizes and a had a chance at doing voice over work on our favorite Nickelodeon characters. I choose to voice Rocko while Little Yanks choose Chucky from Rugrats.

The highlight of the con was my daughter being able to finally meet Alex Hirsch, creator and voice actor of Disney’s Gravity Falls. After the disastrous Adventure Time Q&A panel last year, I made it my mission to not let her down. Thanks to my Press Pass, I was able to get a slight advantage at getting a wrist band and getting to the line faster than the normal convention peasants. The poor workers at the Disney publication booth did not know what they were getting themselves into, as the booth was completely mobbed an hour before his scheduled time. We decided it was best that she goes up to him alone because who would turn away a kid asking a question and a picture? Well his handler was cold enough to do such a thing. The time it took her to explain why he couldn’t, he could have just done it. Then the person behind us posed with him for a picture and it kinda crushed her. I told her to focus on the positive and its a good thing I took a pic of him signing her book.

This was a fun and different year, Little Yanks is older and seemed to feel comfortable at the con. She demanded to go to some booths and asked to take pictures with cosplayers. She told Alex Hirsch “me and my friends are just complete nerds over the show, thank you so much” to which he replied ” I love NERDS” to which she started to get teary.  If there’s one thing i can take away is that the convention has helped her find her people and break out of her shy shell! At the end of the day that’s what’s the heart of these conventions, bringing people together and celebrating there common interests. For that, I am truly grateful that we have a New York Comic-Con.
