Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television, moderated the NYCC panel Marvel and Netflix and was packed with surprise appearances and announcements. Is started off with the cast of ‘Iron Fist’ making an appearance to introduce the teaser trailer.  Surprise guests included an appearance by Erik LaRay Harvey (Diamondback), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher), and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), which it was announced that she will be joining the cast of ‘The Punisher’.

The end of the very end of the panel featured the biggest surprise of the night when the main cast of the ‘The Defenders’ united on stage for the first time. Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) , Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and from joined Finn Jones (Danny Rand).

There was one more surprise guest, Sigourney Weaver (Avatar and Aliens), and it was revealed that she would be playing the villain of the series. There was no announcement of who she would actually be portraying. There is no doubt that the Hand will be a force to reckon with, so maybe she will be a part of the clan.

Come back here, Jessica!

In a great way to end what’s been a terrible week, it was announced at the Television Critics Association press tour that Jessica Jones, the second Netflix exclusive television series to come out of the streaming and rental service’s partnership with Marvel, has been renewed for a second season!

After near universal acclaim, (including from us,) Jessica Jones joins Daredevil as the second of two series’ to be confirmed for a second season, the latter of which will debut in March. This is aside from the three other planned series’ as part of the original deal, which include shows based on Luke Cage and  Iron Fist, and The Defenders, which will bring all these heroes together. With rumors swirling of a Punisher adaptation being considered as well, it’s safe to say that this partnership is turning into everything we wanted and more, especially for the viewers!

Not only am I thrilled to see Krysten Ritter return as the smart-ass P.I., I’m extra excited to see one of her shows actually continue! The question is, which stories will they draw off of considering Jessica’s most prominent story, Alias, was essentially covered in season 1? Let us know what you’re hoping to see in Jessica’s second season in the comments, and as always, we’ll update you all as details surface.
