Back in 2013, you couldn’t pull me away from Final Fantasy XIV. When a group of my friends and I decided to give the recently revamped MMORPG a shot, our band of adventurers were quickly absorbed in the seemingly endless amount of quests to complete, jobs to learn and enemies to slay. Late into the year however, life got in the way, leading us each to drop off until our group essentially disbanded, leading us to adventure on our own sporadically whenever a chance to play would pop up.

Cheres Highwind: Last seen cosplaying a legendary summoner.

My story was led by Cheres Highwind, a Lancer and eventual Dragoon who would call the region of Gridania her home. Shortly after her battle with Ifrit, she all but disappeared outside of some occasional sightings during The Great Yo-kai Hunt of 2016.  With the latest expansion, Stormblood, arriving for the denizens of Eorzea to explore, now seemed as good of a time as any for Cheres to make her big return. But with a new land to explore, a sudden surge of power, and no allies to call her own, this second great adventure is already proving to be quite the learning experienced for our once seasoned warrior.

Taking the trip Ala Mhigo presented such a contrast compared to the lands I had been used to traveling, presenting a much more lush, vibrant territory. The beauty of the scenery quickly became the backdrop to a few warm up battles as I explored the new area. After checking in with Lyse before gathering with the rest of the heroes, I was free to do what I wanted. Little did I know that even the enemies at my level were giving me trouble. If I wanted to survive, I knew I’d need to get acquainted with my new abilities.

The warriors gather as I earn the easiest game completion trophy I’ve ever unlocked.

Using a special potion to get me caught up in strength had one disadvantage. Jumping straight from level 50 to 60 meant I had a wealth of new abilities that I was completely unfamiliar with. Yet, I still needed to master them if I wanted to stand up against the Aliance’s latest threat. Using the same old combos from that Ifrit fight weren’t going to cut it this deep into Eorzea, so it was time to play with the strongest abilities a Dragoon can master up to that point. Primarily, the Blood of the Dragon ability not only increased the strength of the trademark Jump attack, but it gave me the ability to expand on existing combos with two new abilities. Both Fang and Claw and Wheeling Thrust managed to deal extra damage while extending t he duration of Blood of the Dragon, allowing me to deal more damage for longer. Finally, Geirskogul, which can only be used with Blood of the Dragon in effect, causes huge damage to enemies in a straight line at the expense of 10 seconds from the BotD meter. If nothing else, I got a cool blue dragon aura and some new armor to show off my growth!

With the rust worn off, it was time to dive into Stormblood. Make sure to check in next time to find what a full fledged Dragoon can do. If anyone is on the Cactuar server, feel free to share your names in the comments and be part of Cheres’ continued adventures!

Briefly: We’re so freaking excited to get our hands on the NES Classic Edition. Josh has already gone hands on with this Holiday season’s hottest new console (and loved it, naturally), while the rest of us peasants will need to get in line on November 11th to pick one up.

One of the only complaints that we’ve been (constantly) reading about the Classic is its lack of wireless controllers. Sure, it’s more authentic with wires, and probably (definitely) keeps the cost of the thing down, but we’ve been spoiled by wireless controllers for years and we want them here too, damnit.

Thankfully, Nyko has the answer with the Minibus for NES Classic Edition. The controller comes in at a cool $19.99USD (compared to $9.99 for its Nintendo brethren), and brings with it the space-aged ability to play up to 30 feet away from the console.

If the $19.99 is a little rich for your blood, $9.99 will net you the Extend Link for NES Classic Edition, which is a simple extension cord that adds 6 feet to your existing NES Classic edition controllers.

Both items will be available alongside the NES Classic Edition when it launches on November 11th, and… November 11th simply can’t come soon enough.

nyko

Since it was announced, one of the most anticipated gaming products this holiday season has been the NES Classic Edition. As a literal blast from the past, this mini console comes pre-loaded with 30 games from years past, including games from the Super Mario Bros., Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy. Packaged with an HDMI cable for modern TV’s and capture devices, it looks to deliver a way to bring classic gaming into the modern era with ease.

Once I got the chance to sit down and actually play with it, the late 80’s came rushing back, as if the time where controllers only had two buttons and 1080P was replaced with 8-Bits never left. Playing the classic Castlevania, the emulation was picture perfect, fitting just right with these modern HDTV’s. The controller felt lighter than I remember, with the same rectangular block so many of us grew up with, to the point where it feels awfully weird not to have shoulder buttons anymore. That didn’t keep me from slaying Dracula’s worst minions with ease, but making the switch after so many years definitely takes a slight mental adjustment.

For those who want to switch up their viewing experience, the unit will have three different aspect ratios to choose from while playing. The standard mode is a pixel perfect recreation of the old days of gaming, meaning there will be a ton of empty space towards the left and right side. If you want to make sure no space is wasted, you can opt for the full screen option in exchange for some stretched out models, or an in between mode that keeps the characters more proportioned while using up more of the screen.

Using an AC adapter that can plug in to either a wall socket or a USB charger, you should never have trouble finding a place to power the thing. Keeping in mind how many games that the $59.99 price point gets you, I can see this being the perfect travel companion when you’re traveling to a hotel, a friend’s place, or if you just want to show off the mini console. Throw in the fact that the controller works as a Classic Controller for Wii and Wii U Virtual Console games means you’ll get even more mileage out of your purchase.

What games are you most looking forward to re-playing, and will you be with us in line when the unit releases on November 11? Share your thoughts below!

Every year, Skylanders brings out special editions for their newest characters in time for big events like Halloween. This year is no exception, with Chop Scotch getting the festive treatment in the form of the Candy Coated Chop Shop variant.

Replacing its typical skull design for something that looks closer to a jawbreaker, the orange clad Skylander brings all of her axe wielding abilities to the field alongside her new costume. As a Sensei, Chop Scotch is part of the Smasher Battle Class, allowing custom characters of the same class to break their standard level cap and become even stronger. As an Undead Skylander, her powers draw from the power of all things spooky, which is why she’s a perfect fit for this kind of event.

The figure itself looks like it has more detail put into its design compared to your standard release, with so many interesting markings to help her stand out. Check out these images of her toy and her in game model and see if you agree! If not, you can always design your own!

For collectors or those who just want to play, if you’re only planning on getting one Smasher Sensei, this Halloween variant doesn’t seem like a bad one to go with. What are you hoping to see as the next year of Skylanders rolls out!

It’s been a long time coming since we first talked about the reveal of Cyber Dimension Neptune: 4 Goddesses Online, the latest spinoff in the ongoing Neptunia series. Plugging the girls into a beta test for Vert’s favorite MMORPG, 4 Goddesses Online, sounds great enough on its own, but after seeing our first glimpses at the CPU’s in their new roles, a peak at the game play, and the game’s gorgeous Unreal 4 debut.

Apparently taking some pointers from games like Sword Art Online4GO gives players control of their favorite goddesses as they traverse a simulated MMORPG in a single player setting. From these screens, it seems like the game play should be a huge departure from any of the games before it, showing off what can potentially be a real time battle system. From the game play standpoint, the Sword Art games have improved greatly since its rough debut, while other games with similar combat systems like Xenoblade Chronicles and Final Fantasy XII have refined this style of RPG for years. I have my fingers crossed that Compile Heart and Idea Factory take cues from these titles to make Cyber Dimension the best game in the series yet, especially after some recent spinoffs that turned out kind of iffy. (Get it!?)

And let’s be honest, if the game play possibilities alone didn’t have us excited, then the new looks for the girls is more than enough to do so. Noire as a Dark Knight looks especially great, with Neptune as a Holy Knight, Blanc as a Priest, and Vert as an Enchanter rounding out the main cast. I must say that they suit their new roles well, which is making me all the more anxious for the debuts of the CPU Candidates in their 4GO classes.

Check out the screenshots, as well as the first teaser trailer below! Cyber Dimension Neptune: 4 Goddesses Online will arrive in Japan on February 9 exclusively for the PS4, meaning that we’ll probably get it sometime in August. Man, if there was ever a time to import…

Square Enix has announced that PS4 owners who were looking to play the Kingdom Hearts series again in its entirety ahead of the eventual release of Kingdom Hearts will want to keep their eyes peeled in 2017. Both PS3 HD re-releases are going to be repackaged and re-re-rereleased for Sony’s current console.

For those who may have gotten their decimals crossed, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 was the Western debut of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, remastered alongside Re:Chain Of Memories, and a rundown of the storyline via text and cutscenes from 358/2 Days2.5 followed suit with the Final Mix versions of both Kingdom Hearts 2 and Birth By Sleep, while Re:Coded got the synopsis treatment that time around. The recently delayed Kingdom Hearts 2.8 is set to round out the core story, remastering the one time 3DS exclusive, Dream Drop Distance, for home consoles, while debuting a brand new scenario staring Aqua, the heroine of the PSP’s BBS.

Can I just say that we called this!? On the Geekscape Games Podcast, we joked that they would find a way to re-release all of the games all over again before the third game saw the light of day, and WHAT DO YOU KNOW!? The only part we got wrong is it being called 2.95 to the square root of pi.

Alongside this announcement were a few new screenshots from the long awaited third game, which you can check out below. Sora’s sporting some new forms!

What do you think of the news? Will you be re:buying the games? Let us know!

Since the original Nintendo DS launched over 10 years ago, Pikmin always seemed like it would be a natural fit for the touch screen, (which was proven on the Wii U with Pikmin 3.) It may have taken a decade to land on handheld platforms, but Olimar and his army of adorable carrots are finally coming to the 3DS. Except… It’s nothing like what any of us would expect.

Trading in its real time strategy game play for what can only be described as an action focused 2D platformer, Pikmin for the Nintendo 3DS looks to turn what we know about the series on its head. Alternating between the fire resistant red Pikman, the high flying yellow Pikmin that laugh off the dangers of electricity, or the blue Pikmin, which are the only type that can survive in water, Olimar will use them to attack, solve puzzles, and fight bosses as he works his way towards the end of each stage.

Not much is known about the game outside of its reveal trailer, such as whether or not the other Pikmin variants like the white, purple, pink or rock Pikmin will make an appearance, but I’m approaching this one cautiously at the moment. What we’ve seen looks good so far, but we only have to look to last year’s Chibi Robo: Zip Lash to find a sequel where an established game was converted to a 2D platformer for the sake of wider appeal, only for it to lose much of what made it special in the process. Let’s hope Olimar and his crew avoid this pitfall.

Thoughts on the new Pikmin? Are you excited about the new direction, or would you prefer the classic style to return? Sound off below and let us know!

If you’re tired of getting your ass handed to you by brutal dungeon crawling RPGs that tend to overwhelm you with powerful enemies, which often creates a situation where the only real challenge it offers is whether or not you can stay awake long enough to level grind to an appropriate level, then MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death is looking like the game that might turn your attitude around. But don’t be mistaken, that’s not to say it’s not challenging. From what I could tell after watching the game in action, it’s quite the opposite. What makes MeiQ stand out however, is its encouragement to let the player customize their Guardians, mech like machines that serve as your first line of defense against the many monsters these dungeons house, without worrying about how a bad combination will cost you hours of progress.

E3 2016 MeiQ Screen 2

Idea Factory’s upcoming RPG looks familiar at first, opting for a first person view as we explore a grid based map, uncovering secret rooms, hidden treasure and tough enemies along the way. Small improvements for genre wide issues such as auto turning so you won’t run into walls as often are welcomed on the navigation front, but it’s when your team starts a battle that the real highlights shine through. Each Guardian is paired with a Machina Mage, a spell caster with her own HP and MP to help take down enemies within a traditional turn based battle system. Oftentimes, the abilities that the mage can use can work better than the Guardian’s can, or a weakened mech might need to take a backseat while being healed by its user.

However, you might want to be careful when using your Mage, because doing so exposes her to potential damage. A key difference between your party members is that a Guardian can be revived. If all of your Mages get knocked out, it’s game over, even if your Guardians still stand. Managing when to use who looks like it will be a major component to how strategy will come into play when braving the most dangerous labyrinths. But if you do screw up and get KO’d, the good news is that there’s no penalty. Aside from being warped back to the beginning of the dungeon, any experience and cash you found since your last save will be retained.

E3 2016 MeiQ Screen 1

Pushing forward and completing these dungeons promises to be worth it though, since beating bosses and finding hidden items are just two of many ways you’ll be able to find new parts for your Guardian, allowing you to customize them in seemingly countless ways. Not just acting as a cosmetic change, each part will alter their abilities, stats, strengths and weaknesses, allowing you to create the perfect party member for any situation. Of course, you have to find them first, which is why I can see MeiQ becoming an obsession for Vita owners over who can build the strongest team of machines. Not to be outdone, Mages can also unlock costumes, including free DLC outfits based on Idea Factory and Compile Heart’s other titles, Hyperdimension Neptunia and Trillion: God of Destruction.

E3 2016 MeiQ Screen 3

As you can see, there will be plenty to discover when MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death arrives for Sony’s PlayStation Vita this fall. Who’s up for some mech building? Let us know in the comments below!

He’s fought evil between dimensions. He’s taken on the finest heroes and most dangerous villains that the Marvel universe has to offer. He’s covered wars! And if these leaked screenshots of the yet to be announced Dead Rising 4 are any indication, there’s no one you would rather have on your side in a zombie apocalypse than Frank West.

After being relegated to guest appearances and becoming the focus of DLC side stories since the character’s debut in the original Dead Rising, the photojournalist takes the lead once again when he finds himself in the middle of yet another zombie outbreak. As expected from a series such as this that doesn’t take itself seriously in the slightest, Frank returns to the fray with a variety of crazy weapons and abilities, one of which is some kind of space armor with a giant concrete stick. Being surrounded by hundreds of zombies never looked so good in the screenshots below. Go ahead, check them out!

E3 2016 Dead Rising 4 Screen 1 E3 2016 Dead Rising 4 Screen 2 E3 2016 Dead Rising 4 Screen 3

The images alone make it obvious that the game will take place near Christmas, so it will be interesting to see how that plays into whatever crazy narrative the game is sure to follow. One thing is for sure though; after Dead Rising 3 improved so much on the previous formula, it can only get better as long as photography makes its return.

Are you looking forward to the return of Frank West? Tell us what you think in the comments, and make sure to keep up with our E3 coverage as more news on Dead Rising 4, and every other announcement throughout the week, begins to surface.

Idea Factory has released a ton of new screenshots and character profiles for their upcoming RPG, Fairy Fencer F: Dark Advent Force. Putting the strength of the fairies and fences on full display, the game’s transition onto the PS4 is looking like a great one.

First, we have the re-introductions of Pippin, and his fairy partner, Soji. The strange creature with unknown origins often annoys his friends by talking and nagging more than they would like. The only thing he seems to ignore is the sword stuck in his head.

Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force Pippin

Soji on the other hand, is often mistaken for a fencer due to his human appearance, while people think that Pippin is his fairy. He seems to be aware of Pippin’s supposed father, Pappin, which should lead to some interesting new content between the pair that wasn’t in the original title.

Fairy Fencer F Soji

Then new to Advent Dark Force is Pappin, who Pippin calls his father. Whether or not they’re actually related us unknown, but the only thing we really know about his his his dedication to his path as a Fencer. I wonder what the story is behind the scar on his eye?

Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force Pappin

In between learning about the characters, there will be plenty of battles to slice through. In the latest batch of screenshots, the stylish and colorful characters are on full display, making the wait for July 26th even harder to take. With three stories, new characters and added difficulty settings, we’ll have plenty to discover when we’re finally able to play the next entry in the series. What are your thoughts on Dark Advent Force? Sound off in the comments!

Fans of 2D hack and slash games were thrilled to learn that Odin Sphiere Leifthrasir, a remake of the late PS2 classic that put Vanillaware on the map, would be coming to Playstation platforms in 2016. Courtesy of Atlas, now we know when we’ll be able to play it!

Launching on June 7th for the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, Leifthrasir puts us in control of five different characters in a Norse inspired setting as their stories intertwine to reveal an ancient conflict. Featuring gorgeous 2D visuals, challenging combat, and a memorable soundtrack, it’s great to see this gem get a second look.

With every first print copy of the game, Leifthrasir will come packaged with a 64 page softcover art book, showing off those fancy character designs we were just talking about. If you’re a PS4 owner who adores the game as much as I do, then a special “Storybook Edition” will launch exclusively for that platform, coming with the game and a hardcover version of the art book, alongside a potion recipe t-shirt, a mystery art print, and a metal slipcase and premium packaging for the game.

Project X Zone 2 is one of those games that you would have never thought could have existed when us bright eyed gamers were used to the idea of game companies being at each other’s throats. Fast forward to today, and it’s crazy when you think about how common crossover games are these days.

Despite its title, what’s technically the third game in Namco’s and Monolith Soft’s turn based strategy series brings together an even wider range of characters from wildly popular series’ like Street Fighter and Resident Evil, to the more obscure franchises like Yakuza, Star Gladiator, and Capcom Fighting All Stars, knowing that all these characters will share a screen with one another is an exciting thought.

The latest batch of screenshots show off some of the heroes and villains that will make an appearance once the 3DS title releases on February 16th. Newcomers displayed include M. Bison, Xenoblade‘s Metalface and Fiora, Ingrid, Ryo Hazuki and Leon S. Kennedy, as well as the returning Ryu, Ken, Estelle, KOS-MOS and T-elos. NPC’s like Ada Wong and Miles Edgeworth show their support, while even non gaming characters like Segata Sanshiro manage to sneak in!

Check out the full screenshot gallery and the latest trailer below. Comment and tell us who you’re most excitped to play with, and if you have no idea what we’re talking about, get caught up with our review of the first game and our E3 impressions of PXZ 2. In a few more weeks, Digimon will make its PS4 and PS Vita debut in the West with Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth. To help hold us over for its February 2nd release date, Namco Bandai has released a whole lot of screenshots alongside a new trailer to drool over.

This upcoming turn based RPG will let players jump back into the world of Digimon, with over 200 different monsters to collect and train as part of your customazable parties. When not battling it out for the fate of the world, each hatched creature can be raised, trained and pampered in the Digi Farm, which was giving me serious Sonic Adventure 2 vibes when I watched the trailer below.

Developed by the team behind such role playing classics like the Wild Arms and Valkyria Chronicles games, it’s safe to say that fans of the genre have plenty to be excited about. Take it from me, someone who has never shown too much interest in the Digimon franchise, when I say that I absolutely cannot wait to give this game a spin.

But don’t take my word for it! Check out the screenshots and trailer below and let us know what you think. If you’re a die hard fan who needs everything Digi, make sure to pre order for exclusive character variants and Digimon, some of which weren’t even released in Japan!

Let us know what you think in the comments, and check back for more news and information as it’s made available.

After 15 years, the Naruto manga finally reached its conclusion in November 2014. Never far behind, it’s about time the games followed suit. In about a month, we’ll be able to play Naruto and Sasuke’s final battles in Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, and if the latest batch of screenshots are anything to go by, the story is sure to go out with style.

Focusing on the history leading up to this final clash, the game is looking to dig deep into the history of the series, showing off childhood fights from before the friends were ninjas, all the way up to their fateful battle to decide the future of the ninja world. Seeing the full Team 7 back together and facing off against Princess Kaguya is something many fans of the manga have been waiting to play for what seems like forever, but unlike a dream from the infinite tsukiyomi, this is real life. And we’ll get it on February 9th!

Considering the games tend to be way more over the top than the source material, I can’t wait to see what CyberConnect2 is going to do with the grand finale. Anyone else excited for the next big Naruto game? Let us know below, and make sure to check out our E3 and Anime Expo impressions while you’re at it!

Well, it’s early 2016, and that means Megadimension Neptunia VII should be getting an official release date any day now. If you’re anything like me however, you need any bit of Gamindustri goodness you can get to hold you over until we can finally pop Neptune’s latest 4th wall breaking adventure into our PS4’s.

It’s okay though, because Idea Factory has us covered with the latest batch of screenshots from the upcoming RPG, showing off the NEXT forms of the four main CPUs. Inspired by the Wii U, Xbox One, PS4, and whatever non-existent Sega console the designers came up with for Lady Purple Heart’s next gen upgrade, these sleeker, more powerful goddesses show that you can kick all kinds of ass, even when there’s a controller on your crotch.

Check out the gallery below as well as the first batch of battle screenshots and let us know who’s updated design is your favorite! Don’t forget, the limited edition preorders go live today at 10 AM PST! So if you want those posters, that art book, and that sweet, sweet Umio plush, make sure you have your finger on the refresh button for all that sweet Neptune merch. I’ll be right there with you!

One Piece fans can tell you that there’s never been a shortage of games featuring the Straw Hat Pirates. Yet, the series manages to have a certain longevity thanks to each game typically being significantly different from the one before it. After releasing with a solid Dynasty Warriors style game with One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 last summer, the crew is jumping back into the fighting arena with the announcement of One Piece Burning Blood.

Featuring Luffy in his Gear Fourth transformation, alongside a cast that spans the entire series, this fighting game promises to give players a wide variety of combo possibilities, both thanks to its hard hitting combat system and the three on three game play. Considering that the developers at Spike Chunsoft are no strangers to designing anime fighting games, it’s looking like Burning Blood is in good hands. If you need further proof, see the game in action and decide for yourself in the trailer and screenshots below!

Releasing on both PS4 and Xbox One in June, PS4 owners will have the chance to pick up this sweet looking collectors edition featuring Whitebeard. For anyone who preorders, you’ll also get two mystery fighters that have yet to be revealed.

Are you ready to set sail once again? Let us know in the comments!

Considering that the long running Tales series of RPGs was once seen as being in danger of missing out on Western releases, we’ve sure been getting them like clockwork in recent years. Not that we’re complaining, since each of the recent releases from the Vita’s Tales of Hearts R, to late last year’s Tales Of Zestiria, and the Xillia series in between, have been solid titles in their own right. So to no one’s surprise, (but still to our excitement,) a new game in the franchise has been confirmed for the West!

Titled Tales Of Berseria, this time around, our lead is a pirate with a mysterious secret.  Seemingly part beast, her left arm transforms into a giant claw, leading to all the flashbacks and melodrama that comes with being an anime inspired heroine. What it also leads to is some really interesting battle footage, with attacks and combos that look much more exciting than most of the game’s predecessors. But why read about it when you can watch it yourself?

Not bad, right? Check out these additional screenshots below, and discuss your favorite Tales memories in the comments below! And as always, we’ll be sure to report back when more details on Berseria, as well as all of your other favorite games, become available.

While it shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point that the next full fledged sequel in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series was heading to the Western shores, that doesn’t mean we can’t be through the roof excited over playing as all of our favorite goddesses on our PS4’s! Sporting a snazzy new name to go with its current gen debut, Megadimension Neptunia VII is the first full fledged sequel since 2012’s Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, despite numerous remakes and spinoffs to fill the gaps.

Even as a hardcore Nep fan, it’s fair to say that the battle formula between all of the Vita remakes and the core PS3 series, (not to mention different franchises with similar game play like Fairy Fencer F,) is starting to get a little tired, which is why we were as excited as Peashy with Nep’s Pudding when it was announced that the battle system is getting some interesting sounding features. If you wanted to see what this would look like in action, look no further, because this latest set of battle screenshots should give us a clue or two.

Where do I begin? Seeing Orange Heart in action? Those sweet, new moves with all the flash that we’d expect from the girls of Gamindustri! Nepgear with her mech, Nepgeardam in tow, and an army of Umio’s! Does this make sense to you? If not, you’ll have a great opportunity to get caught up when Megadimension Neptunia VII launches for the PS4 early this year. Oh, and if you’re a fan of cool stuff, don’t forget that pre-orders of the limited edition go up at 10:00 AM PST on January 7th!

After playing through three remakes, three spinoffs, and an anime that roughly puts it all together, it’s about time for a brand new Hyperdimension Neptunia title, isn’t it? And not a spinoff or another remake, (not that there’s anything left TO remake at his point,) but a true, core title that advances the lore of Gamindustri.

Well, it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer! Idea Factory has announced that the long awaited sequel to 2012’s Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory will finally hit the PS4 in early 2016, under the title of MegaDimension Neptunia VII. That’s “V-2”, not 7. You know the Japanese and their wacky numbering system.

MegaDimension puts players back into the floppy shoes of Neptune, who is tasked with traveling across three different worlds to save Gamindustri, complete with new characters, environments, and CPUs. In addition, the game play is said to be getting a much needed overhaul, with the new “Parts Break” mechanic, which lets the goddesses cut their enemies into pieces to lower their attacks, “Giant Battles”, which will take a new type of strategy to win, and NEXT mode, a Next Gen upgrade that gives the four goddesses brand new, more powerful transformations to go with their new outfits. A new dungeon mini-game rounds out what we know so far, which pays homage to Spelunker. However it plays, it has to be better than Stella’s Dungeon in Re;Birth 2, right?

So step aside, Uncharted 4 and Legend of Zelda, because the game of the year 2016 is already decided! Want to know what all the hubbub is about? Take a look at the screen shots and full press release below, then when you’re done, check out our reviews for the Vita remakes and spinoffs here, here, here and here. Did I mention they release a lot of these games?

Star Wars wasn’t the only property getting plenty of love during the D23 video game panel! While on stage, Disney Interactive finally delivered details on the previously announced Marvel Play Set coming to Disney Infinity 3.0.

Titled “Marvel Battlegrounds”, this set will be unique in the sense that it will allow 4 player local co-op in series history. Previously, four players was only possible online and in the Toy Box, but this Play Set looks to put all of your Marvel figures to good use, especially when they’re adding two more to play with.

Ripped straight from this summer’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron, the titular villain will be getting his own figure to use in the set and the toy box alongside Hulkbuster Iron Man. Want to rule the world? Or save it? Or maybe you want to ride in tea cups or have a friendly race through Gravity Falls? Regardless on how you use them, Marvel fans are sure to be thrilled to know that the comic book universe hasn’t been abandoned for a galaxy far, far away.

Take a look at the latest screenshots and trailer below and tell us what else you hope gets added! Will you be rounding out your Avengers collection with these new figures? And will you be getting together with the family to explore the Marvel universe in this new set? Let us know in the comments!

Be it on purpose or accident, the first of in game screenshots have hit our digital desks, and they look just as I expected them too! They obviously have that “Telltale” (see what I did there?) flair, and the actors likenesses seem to be accurately depicted here.

No word yet on how these accurate depictions will sound, most likely we won’t have the actual actors, but a strikingly accurate simulation.

We still don’t have a release date, but they’re still shooting for end of 2014.

With nearly every important character from Persona 3 and Persona 4 included in the upcoming fighter, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, it was only a matter of time before The Empress made her appearance. Starting the week after release, Margret, the Velvet Room Attendant from P4 will make her fighting game debut as downloadable content.

While every other character in the game is limited to one Persona, Margaret will command multiple ones, including Cu Chulanin, Yoshitsune and Ardha on top of eight Persona Cards. To say that she has the deck stacked against her opponents would be an understatement, (pun kind-of intended), and anyone who faced off against her in the core RPG series knows how dangerous she is. How will this play out in a fighting game arena? And what will happen when she comes face to face with her sister, Elizabeth, who abandoned the position that Margaret currently holds? We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out.

Unlike the previously announced characters, Adachi and Marie, Margaret WILL NOT be free at any point, but will be available for purchase after the free period for the first two downloadable characters passes. The price point hasn’t been revealed yet, but if it’s anything like Arc System Works’ previous fighters, there’s a good chance it can get pricey. Plus, I’m sure the DLC announcements aren’t done yet, since there’s still one major character who’s missing from the fight. Any guesses?

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will arrive on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 30th.

Officially revealed with a teaser trailer back in March, Ubisoft today debuted a cool new gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Here’s what Ubisoft says about the title:

Assassin’s Creed Unity reinvents the franchise, starting with the core gameplay pillars that have defined the series from the beginning: navigation, stealth and combat. Players will carve their way through a stunning, full-scale open-world Paris, thanks to the power of the new Anvil engine, rebuilt from the ground up for new generation consoles. Assassin’s Creed Unity gives players full control parkour mechanics, a reinvented fighting system for a richer combat experience, a new stealth mode, cover system and crowd manipulation techniques. Players can channel their inner Assassin, customizing weapons, equipment, outfits and specialized skills to match their play style.

In addition to the sprawling single-player campaign, players can join with up to three friends and take part in story-driven online co-op missions designed specifically for Assassins to play together. Skills and unique gear acquired in the single-player missions will be accessible in co-op and will define a player’s personalized Assassin’s style, whether emphasizing brute force, agility or stealth. Players also will select a unique co-op skill that will help the team survive, evade or fight more effectively to the benefit of the team.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve played an Assassin’s Creed title, but I cannot wait to check out Unity, and especially its co-op multiplay, as it looks like it’s exactly what I imagined when the first game released. Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Assassin’s Creed Unity hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28th.

A few weeks back, Persona 4 baddie, Tohru Adachi, was confirmed as a playable character in the upcoming Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, but only in Japan. Then last week, Atlus revealed that not only would the sadistic detective be coming to the West, but would be available as free day one DLC… assuming you download him during the first week of release.

Free sounds pretty good, right? Especially with all of the pack in extras that first prints of the game are receiving, such as a Teddy bag and a half set of tarot cards, (the other half will be bundled in the 3DS title, Persona Q. Those clever bastards). But if you’re still on the fence, you can always check out Adachi in action in these latest screen shots!

If our E3 coverage was any indication, P4A:U looks like it will be the fighter to beat this holiday season. With free DLC and pack in items on top of a great game, what reason is there not to give it a look? Try to think of one. I’ll wait.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is scheduled to release on September 30th.

Briefly: Officially revealed with a teaser trailer back in March, Ubisoft debuted an awesome co-op demo of Assassin’s Creed Unity at today’s Microsoft press conference (which SJ and Jonathan covered here).

Assassin’s Creed Unity hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28th.

Briefly: A few days back, Shane published what turned out to be an extremely-legitimate leak of the next Assassin’s Creed game, subtitled Unity.

Today, Ubisoft confirmed the title’s existence with a teaser trailer. Most of the leaked information on the title appears to be correct, including the fact that it will release only on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Not having to keep older platforms in mind should help Ubisoft craft something absolutely beautiful here; I remember how gorgeous ACIV looked on the PS4 just a few months back, and this will surely blow it out of the water.

Here’s what Ubisoft had to say about the announcement:

We have been working on the new Assassin’s Creed for more than three years, and wanted to find the perfect time to give you an early taste of the game. Apparently though, the Templar Order was hungry to know more right now. To this, we say “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche!” (“Let them eat cake!”). Help yourself to a serving of the first official footage from the next-gen only Assassin’s Creed Unity. Stay tuned – we’ll have many more exciting details for you in the future.

A few weeks ago, this interesting post came up on the NeoGaf forums. It was posted by a user retailing the events that transpired on a plane with someone who was involved in the Assassin’s Creed Development.

So i was on a flight earlier today and playing liberation on my vita when the guy sitting next to me asked me what i thought about the game. I said it was pretty good to which he said that i will probably love the next one too. I told him that i already played black flag to which he smiled at me and said the one after that. Turns out that the guy was someone close to the series (dev/pr) and although he didn’t disclose what exactly his position was, he did give me a fair bit of info on the upcoming title. My day was literally made when towards the end of our conversation he showed me a short clip about the game on his ipad. Mind you the guy was a not a native english speaker so there might be some errors in what he meant and i what i am posting here.

set in paris and england (london?)

main characters name is arno/harno something. will be heading the french divison of assassins.

looks to be set after the ezio period, character had handgun.

looks like victorian era judging by the way npc dressed, architecture, horse carriages parked on the streets.

Villa management is back. MC has his own villa (guy says its ezio’s villa from AC:B). dunno if it makes any sense geographically or it might be a mistranslation.

codename is AC:unity. Not final title, might be battle/fight something (cant remember). The AC logo is cut in the middle like the beyond/quantum break logo.

MC has a blue suit with a tinge of red in the clip(might change). looked similar to the ones worn by the Knights in order 1886.

from the clip it looks like a cross gen title. Although the guy tells me its next gen only title.

Visually looked quiet decent but it was ver early footage. Had fantastic draw distance and crowd density was much higher than the older games despite them appearing/disappearing from thin air.

Much like most rumors on the internet, this particular one was mostly ignored, until today!

The team over at Kotaku got their hands on some sweet screenshots, and a lot of information mostly corroborating the NeoGaf user’s post.

The nitty gritty details Kotaku was able to get from their source are fairly promising. Unity, will be released sometime this fall and will be out on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The other AC title, codenamed Comet, will be out the same time but on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Unity will take place in late 18th century Paris (as you can see in the screenshots) and it brings to the table a new Parkour system. If you peak at the screenshots, you can see that there are buttons assigned to “Parkour Up” and “Parkour Down”. I imagine this little addition will be a huge step in the right direction for the series in terms of navigation.

The feature I a m MOST excited for is the return of the Villa management system. If you remember way back in AC:II, you could upgrade Ezio’s Villa. With shops, vendors, arts and architecture. All these upgrades would bring in money every so often. I LOVED getting my main base all the way upgraded.

No other details have been leaked or released, but expect to hear much more when we get closer to fall 2014.

Earlier this month we showed you leaked screenshots from the upcoming Ubisoft game AC3. Well today Ubisoft has sent out an official PR media update with not only Hi-Res copies of the leaked screen-shots, but also official box art! Check ’em out below.

Also, with the update, was a teaser trailer. The trailer gives us a quick overview of the main character, Connor, and his myriad of weapons. Check THAT out below.

If you weren’t excited before, you better be now!
