On this week’s Geekscape I talk to Belgian filmmaker Robin Pront about his new Nikolaj Coster-Waldau thriller ‘The Silencing’! It’s a very filmmaking heavy episode as we talk about getting the tone right, shooting in Ontario vs back home in Belgium, collaborating with actors like ‘Game of Thrones’ star Coster-Waldau and much, much more! Enjoy!

At LA Comic Con this year, Geekscape hosted a fun and expert filled panel on the return of fantasy storytelling! What led to its return? What properties, technologies and social changes led to fantasy properties in TV, Film, Tabletop and Gaming coming back on top? Is there a drawback to fantasy’s popularity? And how long can this popularity last? We hope you enjoy listening to this panel as much as we did recording it!

Briefly: The great war is here.

At least, it will be in a couple of months.

HBO has just debuted an epic new trailer for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, and while I haven’t actually watched the previous few seasons (I’m still very slowly trying to play catch up), this trailer certainly gets me closer to simply binging my way through.

Game of Thrones returns on July 16th, and I’m sure you all can’t wait. For now, watch the trailer on repeat below, and let us know what you hope to see this July!

Briefly: We still have no idea when we’ll be able to watch the damned thing, but along with the first images from Thor: Ragnarok, EW has also debuted the very first teaser poster for Game of Thrones‘ upcoming seventh season.

It pretty much just shows off the hashtag that you should use while talking about how it’s still not out yet on Twitter, but it also features a slick background of not just ice, but also fire.

Honestly, whenever I think of fire and ice together, I don’t think of Game of Thrones, but instead think about those terrible Fire and Ice condoms, which is a feeling that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. Ouch.

For now, you can take a look at the teaser image below, and be sure to let us know what you think we’ll be seeing whenever this thing comes out.

For reference:

The awesome Sci-Fest LA is back for it’s 3rd Year and festival organizer David Dean Bottrell is back on Geekscape for the 2nd Year in a row to talk about it! Joining David is one of the festival’s writers and directors, Jack Kenny, who you may know as a TV writer, producer, actor and show runner of SyFy’s ‘Warehouse 13’! The two of them talk about both the success and growth of Sci-Fest LA, what to expect this year and why this is one of the best experiences a science fiction (or theater) fan can have! Also, we talk a bit about that big ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 premiere that just happened! Enjoy!

Briefly: I’m still not quite caught up on the series, so I’m definitely avoiding this video (classic Derek), but HBO has just debuted a new trailer for Game of Thrones upcoming sixth season, which premieres on April 24th.

Take a look at the trailer below (if you’re better at keeping up with television than I am, of course).

Is Jon Snow dead? Is he totally coming back? What the hell is even happening and is Winter still coming?

I have no clue, but feel free to speculate below!

In a newly released trailer, the sixth season of Game of Thrones, the audience is warned that “…the great game is terrifying.”

In the first few seconds of the trailer, with the guitar strings playing the beginning chords of ‘Wicked City’ the answer to the question that has plagued fans for nearly a year now is answered. “He’s gone.” is said of Jon Snow who lays in a bed of snow. So is Jon Snow dead? From the trailer, the answer is ‘Yes.’

Has Cersai Lanister, after taking the walk of shame, lived up to her repentance? If the declaration of “I choose violence” was anything to go by, I’m going to go with no. But that also comes after her brother/lover tells her that what was taken away from them was going to be taken back and more.

Other storylines that appeared for brief flashes revolve around a blind Arya Stark, a powerless Daenerys, and a somber Melisandre. We also see Bran with what looks like a white walker and Brienne of Tarth.

The fight for the throne continues on HBO on April 24. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Briefly: We’re still waiting for confirmation from Marvel and/or Netflix, but EW reports that the Netflix Iron Fist series has found its Danny Rand.

Finn Jones, who portrays Ser Loras Tyrell has apparently been cast as our main man in the anticipated, as yet mysterious series.

Marvel describes the series as: “Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.”

Little is know about Iron Fist at this point, including when we’ll actually be able to feast our hungry eyes on it, but in any case, color us excited!

For now, you can re-watch the amazing Daredevil trailer from earlier today, and be sure to let us know what you hope to see in Iron Fist!

Briefly: Following the very first teaser debut from back in December, and the official premiere date reveal last month, HBO has just debuted the first images from the series’ upcoming sixth season.

I’m not exactly caught up with the series, so I’m not really sure what’s going on in the images below. That said, they look pretty and I’m an idiot for not watching this series.

You can take a look at the images below, and be sure to let us know what you think! Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 24th!

This season the series will actually develop the plot further than the released books have, due to the latest delay for George RR Martin’s The Winds of Winter. Those who have followed the novels, will you be watching the series this year knowing it will spoil the plot of the next book? Be sure to sound out in the comments below!

Briefly: Following the very first teaser debut early last month, HBO has just officially announced when Game of Thrones will premiere its widely anticipated sixth season.

Season six will debut on Sunday, April 24th, meaning that I have just over two months to get through the last two seasons of the celebrated drama.

Yeah, I know. I have no idea what’s wrong with me.

In any case, this season the series will actually develop the plot further than the released books have, due to the latest delay for George RR Martin’s The Winds of Winter. Those who have followed the novels, will you be watching the series this year knowing it will spoil the plot of the next book? Be sure to sound out in the comments below!

And what’s this about Jon Snow?

Briefly: Following the first (spoilery) teaser poster from late last month, HBO has just debuted the very first video teaser for next year’s sixth season of Game of Thrones.

I’m not quite caught up on the series, so I’m definitely avoiding this video, but in any case, you can take a look at the teaser below!

It’s awesome, isn’t it?

Be sure to let us know what you hope to see in the upcoming episodes! Game of Thrones will return this April!

[Disclaimer: This is a review of a sample provided by ThinkGeek.]

ThinkGeek recently listed a store-exclusive jumbo plush of Game of Thrones‘ dragon, Drogon. Being a lover of all things plush, I was itching to get my hands on the beast.

Now, onto the review!

shydrogon

My Drogon is actually a uncharacteristically shy. So let’s start off with the a look at his tag.

frontoftag

backoftag

It is a standard tag as far as content but also relatively large. The tag’s size isn’t noticeable because it is dwarfed by the large size of the plush.

wingspan

wingdetail

Ah! It seems our scaly star is ready to begin. As you can see, Drogon has an impressive wingspan; 42 inches wide to be exact. The pose-able wires are in the scaly arm portions at the top of each wing (they also run as a skeletal system through the body, tail, and legs). The suede sections of the wings are soft to touch and not at all rough or stiff. The wings also have embroidered detail in the faux suede.

feetsies

His toes are where the plush seams are most visible but thankfully, they didn’t look bare or stressed. I am not concerned about the seams bursted or ripping in the future. I was pleased that little dragon claws are a different fabric rather than just painted on. Nice touch!

backview

Drogon’s back is lined with spines. This is the one area where I am slightly disappointed. Each of the spines are rough around the edges and unpleasant to the touch. Some of the smaller ones on the head also have a tendency lie flat.

facedetail

I was thoroughly impressed with Drogon’s face and mouth. Much like the case with his claws, Factory Entertainment (the manufacturer) shirked the cheap, easy route and avoided making the teeth out of single cutouts of felt. Drogon’s chompers are thick pieces of fabric sewn together, which is much sturdier and nicer to look at. And fun fact, you can stick part of your pinky in his nostrils (in other words, they are real little pockets). His detailed face is definitely my favorite feature.

drogonsideview

This plush is a pretty big guy. According to his listing, Drogon is 16 inches tall and 22 inches long, nose to tail. Is he big enough to match his price point ? Well, if you factor in the pose-ability, quality, and attention to detail along with the size, I would say yes.

While I don’t think many people would pay nearly 60 dollars for a dragon plush without having a deep connection to Game of Thrones, I will say that I personally love Drogon and would happily have shelled out the money for him.

You can purchase your own Game of Thrones Jumbo Drogon Plush Dragon at ThinkGeek [link] at the price of $59.99.

Briefly: I haven’t exactly finished last year’s fifth season of Game of Thrones, but HBO has just debuted the very first poster for the series’ upcoming sixth season, and… well, even I understand just how big of a deal this is.

I guess I have about five months to catch up (and to find out just what happened to Jon Snow), as this teaser image certainly renews my interest in the celebrated series.

Is he alive? Is he dead? This is like Glenn on The Walking Dead all over again (well, until last night I guess).

Take a look at the teaser image below, and let us know what you hope to see when Game of Thrones returns this April!

Briefly: Just a few days after Telltale’s Game of Thrones concluded its celebrated first season, the company has officially revealed that, you guessed it, the game will be getting another season.

The news comes from a THR interview with Telltale CEO and Co-Founder Kevin Brunner, who noted that “When we initially announced the series in 2013, we let everyone know this would be a multi-title, multiyear partnership with HBO. After this week’s finale, I’m pleased to officially confirm that there will be a second season of Telltale’s Game of Thrones series and that it’s currently in development.”

Brunner continues, explaining that the development cycle of Telltale’s titles is actually quite similar to television production:

While we cannot divulge any of the specific details, we can say that Telltale’s approach to game development is much more like television than most other game developers. Across all of our series — The Walking DeadMinecraft: Story Mode and more — the development process at Telltale spends a significant amount of time upfront in the writer’s rooms not just with writers, but designers, directors and creative input from all across the studio. It’s not unusual for our games to exist longer on whiteboards and sticky notes and in scripts than they do in traditional game production. It’s incredibly similar to how TV often spends so much time in preproduction and planning before moving into actually shooting. It’s from then on that we take the live development aspect into play, observing the audience and their feedback as we adjust and build upon the experience along the way.

The interview contains several spoilers for the just-concluded first season of the title, so if you still haven’t completed Game of Thrones’ first season, I’d probably avoid it.

Otherwise, you can head here to read the rest of the interesting conversation.

What did you think of the game’s finale? Are you looking forward to the second season? Sound out below!

Briefly: This is fantastic.

Telltale Games is quite possibly my favourite video game developers (it’s a toss-up between them and Nintendo).

The company uses such amazing properties to tell intense, resonating stories that are virtually unparalleled in the video game world. As hyped up as I can get about certain video game releases, absolutely nothing excites me more than a trip through the latest episode of a Telltale Games series.

I’ve always wondered just what goes into crafting some of their amazing titles, and apparently, so did Complex, as they’ve just released a 30-minute Telltale-focused documentary entitled Telltale Games: Story Mode.

Telltale is “not entirely sure how they did it, but they managed to condense over 10 years worth of history and over 100 episodes into a brisk 30 minute documentary that examines what it’s been like to work on these episodic games under one roof from San Rafael, California since 2004.”

It’s really an intriguing watch, so put down whatever you’re doing (yep, even Fallout 4, those settlements can wait), take a look at the documentary below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: It’s been quite some time since we’ve been blessed with a new episode of Telltale’s Game of Thrones, but as Telltale revealed following the launch of the second episode of Minecraft: Story Mode (read our review here), the first season of its intense Game Of Thrones adaptation is now just one day away from its conclusion. To mark the occasion, the developer has just release a sweet, sweet new trailer for the adventure.

The final episode, ‘The Ice Dragon’ will release on consoles, mobile, and PC worldwide tomorrow, November 17th. This universal release marks a first for a Telltale title, so hopefully that’s a trend that continues. I’d love to play these games on my mobile devices, but gravitate towards consoles instead because of their earlier release dates.

Earlier this month, Kevin Bruner, CEO and Co-Founder of Telltale Games said that “The epic conclusion to the season is the most ambitious and diversely presented episode we’ve ever produced. The fate of House Forrester has been in the hands of players all season long, and the finale will be tailored to provide a uniquely harrowing conclusion for each and every player based on the decisions they’ve made in the game thus far.”

If you haven’t played the series yet, Telltale’s Game of Thrones is particularly interesting as it’s “played from five different points of view. Each is either a direct Forrester family member, or a person in service to the House. Scattered across Westeros and Essos, each will play their part in seeking to save House Forrester from destruction.”

In case you’re unsure of the series, or have just missed out thus far, the first episode of the season, ‘Iron From Ice’ is also free on PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, iOS, and Android devices.

Take a look at the finale’s trailer below, and be sure to let us know which part of Game of Thrones you’ve enjoyed the most so far!

Briefly: It’s been quite some time since we’ve been blessed with a new episode of Telltale’s Game of Thrones, but today, just one day after the epic conclusion to its acclaimed Tales From The Borderlands, and a week after launching the first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode (read our review here), the company has revealed that the celebrated first season of its intense Game Of Thrones adaptation is set to conclude in just a few weeks.

The final episode, ‘The Ice Dragon’ will release on consoles, mobile, and PC, worldwide, on November 17th. This universal release marks a first for a Telltale title, so hopefully that’s a trend that continues. I’d love to play these games on my mobile devices

Yep, Game of Thrones set an Emmys record with 12 awards (from it’s 24 nominations) in one show. The previous record was held by The West Wing with 9 awards.

Did your shows win? Do you feel anyone got robbed? Have you watched the season premier of South Park yet? Let us know in the comments below!

E3 is behind us… and Kenny’s here to help us sift through the aftermath! What won the show and what wasn’t so great? Before we get into all that though, Adam Murray is here to let us know that ‘Inside Out’ is one of the best post-Wall-E Pixar films but his experience of going to see it was pretty traumatizing. We give our last words on the box office onslaught that is ‘Jurassic World’ and we talk about the Will Ferrell Lifetime Original curiosity ‘A Deadly Adoption’! Enjoyables!

To get you ready for the biggest Con of them all, I’ve invited The 2 Nerd Girls, Becca and Faith, on the show to talk cosplay, books and all the amazing things that summer has in store! I let you know that ‘San Andreas’ is awesomely outrageous if you have the sense of humor for it and we repeat our love for ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ and ‘Ex Machina’! We also look forward to ‘Jurassic World’ and discuss the divide in Game of Thrones fandom! The Summer is all about blockbusters and it all starts here!

Briefly: If you’re playing Telltale’s adaptation of Game of Thrones (and if you’re a fan of the series or books, you definitely should be), you’ll be happy to know that the developer has just released a new for the game’s next episode, and that you’ll be able to play it VERY soon.

The episode is titled “Sons of Winter”, and it will debut on PC, Mac, PS3, and PS4 on May 26th, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on May 27th, and iOS and Android devices on May 28th.

The game “tells the story of House Forrester. Caught up in the events of The War of the Five Kings, they are placed in a precarious position where members of the household must do everything they can to prevent the house from meeting its doom.”

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’re enjoying the game so far!

Thom Parham is a scholar AND a gentleman… and I’m not just saying that. He got a job at Paramount after grad school because he wrote his doctoral thesis on the languages in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’. Now a professor himself, he comes on Geekscape to talk about Daredevil, Batman V Superman, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Flash, Arrow and the latest news in the geek world. He really knows his stuff and he helps Will, Kenny and I collectively scream for an end to geeks cannibalizing each other! We’re in a Golden Age! Enjoy it!

Like a faded high school football player reading about last night’s game on the news, I have to bring up my time spent as an intern for Late Night with Seth Meyers. Honestly, if it wasn’t for my internship there I wouldn’t have come to Geekscape. That’s a long story I’d be happy to tell you in person. Ask me at Comic-Con or something.

But last night! Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harrington was a guest talking about typical late-night stuff. What’s it like on the show, do you have a dog, where’s the body hidden, yadda yadda. And then, something great: Kit Harrington as Jon Snow, joins Seth and his friends for dinner.

Trust me. It’s a thousand times funnier than it sounds.

It’s a wonderfully-directed segment, and while I knew the brooding Jon Snow in a hoity-toity New York dinner amongst friends is funny enough, I never realized just how gut-busting it could be. Who knew a man sent to guard against the White Walkers would be so cold? (HA! Get it? Cold? No? OK.)

Briefly: If you’re playing Telltale’s adaptation of Game of Thrones (and if you’re a fan of the series or books, you definitely should be), you’ll be happy to know that the developer has just released a stellar launch trailer for the game’s next episode, and that you’ll be able to play it VERY soon.

The episode is titled “The Sword in the Darkness”, and it will debut on PC, Mac, PS3, and PS4 tomorrow (March 24th), Xbox 360 and Xbox One on March 25th, and iOS and Android devices on March 26th.

Right now as Apple is showing off the Apple Watch, the new Macbook, and pimping out HBO Now on Apple TV, a new, super intense trailer for the upcoming fifth season of Game of Thrones premiered.

Enough talk. Just watch while you can before it’s taken down (for the inevitable official upload).

Military action and sci-fi are two film genres that have gotten along pretty well over the years. From Aliens to Mass Effect, it’s not difficult to imagine throwing a bunch of square-jawed marines up against a horde of savage creatures.

Yet, as cinema and art continue to evolve upon the shoulders of giants, there’s always a new spin to be had on old methods. Sometimes an old dog won’t just learn a new trick, that fella might just show off a whole new routine.

Jabbar Raisani, who has built a name for himself in the VFX world for his work on Game of Thrones — a small show you may have heard of — has directed his first feature film, the sci-fi/actioner Alien Outpost from IFC Midnight. Taking cues from meditative, modern war films like The Hurt Locker and Restrepo and combining it with epic, original sci-fi, Alien Outpost just might be one of the most unique action movies in recent memory.

Decades into a dwindling conflict between humans and an advanced extraterrestrial species, the soldiers of an understaffed, underfunded military outpost are pushed to the brink and take the fight to the last remaining alien stronghold to desperately end things once and for all. Along the way, a skeleton documentary crew follows them and chronicles what could be their last days on Earth.

I recently spoke to director Jabbar Raisani about the challenges of making his first feature film and how his VFX knowledge have prepared him to be a more efficient director.

What influenced the form of the film — a fictional documentary? Why did you want to tell this story in that style as opposed to traditional narrative formats?

Jabbar: With the documentary, the documentarians can have an angle in terms of why they’re making the film. And that to me was more interesting than doing a found footage film. There’s no intent on the part of the filmmakers in the film itself. And I really wanted it to feel like these guys had an intention in putting together a documentary together which is to bring attention and awareness to a world that people aren’t really thinking about as they did a decade ago when the attacks and invasion first happened.

There’s a level of cinema violence and access that, safe to say, probably wouldn’t be in a real documentary. There are limbs flying, people dying on screen, and you film rather private conversations. As a director, how did you decide to deviate from the documentary form and become a sort of fly on the wall?

Jabbar: It’s one of those things where you’re always trying to find that balance between telling the best story and maintain the style. On occasion, as we get into the action in the end of the film, to depart a little bit from style to allow for a little better storytelling was what I opted for because I wanted the best viewing experience. As opposed to being completely rigid with the documentary style.

You didn’t want to be attached to just one style. You wanted liberty in form, so to speak?

Jabbar: Exactly. And I felt that, as you got to that point in the movie, it was very well-established and maintained, especially when it comes to the actors and the interviews and getting to know the characters, that when it got to that level of action I felt the story would be better served and the audience would enjoy it a little bit more if it loosened up.

You’re well-known for your special effects work, notably on HBO’s Game of Thrones. In what ways has your special effects background influenced your directing? For example, do you decide camera framing by how you want the VFX shot to look?

Jabbar: Yeah, absolutely. One of the benefits of spending years on set as a special effects supervisor is that part comes really natural to. Where I have to spend very little [time] thinking of how a frame is, what to shoot, what’s going to work best in post, and that part comes second nature. So it allows me to really focus on the actors and the performances and the story that’s being told without being bogged down by the technicalities of the visual effects.

Alien Outpost is your first time feature, but you’ve directed shorts like Watermelon Seeds and Speed Stack. What were some of your biggest challenges in bringing your first feature-length vision to life?

Jabbar: The challenges are really throughout the entire process. When you’re directing a film, you’re not only the creative force behind it, you’re really the driving force behind everything. From the first draft of the script, we had written a bigger movie, a more expensive movie, and the first thing you really have to come to terms with is the budget. You’re never gonna get the budget you want the first time. Once you expect that, you realize that it’s a lot of just making comprises, but you’re trying to make the best compromises that result in the best product. And it really goes from the very beginning when you’re writing the script all the way until the last VFX shot. You’re trying to figure out who to best send out the resources that you have.

Who were some of your influences growing up? What directors made you want to pursue filmmaking? Who specifically influenced Alien Outpost? Personally, I sensed a heavy The Hurt Locker and Restrepo vibe.

Jabbar: Yeah absolutely! I watched a lot of military documentaries and Restrepo was definitely high on my favorite flicks. I really wanted to make something that felt real, but have elements that I really like, which is the sci-fi/action stuff. In regards to directors, James Cameron and Ridley Scott as far as feature films go, you know? I’ve watched Alien probably thirty times, Terminator 2 maybe more than that. [laughs] And there’s another guy, David Nutter, he’s a television director. He’s excellent. He’s done a lot of work on Game of Thrones. I did Thrones with him, season three, and he’s one of the guys that I’m like, “Man, that’s the kind of director I want to be.”

You know, I should have figured you’re a big James Cameron fan. I should have seen the Alien influence.

Jabbar: [laughs]

In Alien Outpost, you’ve changed our world in a bit of a bizarre fashion. You’ve had the aliens destroy Brazil, there’s a new North Korea, but design-wise, the year of 2033 doesn’t look that much different from 2015. What was behind the decision to keep the future world of Alien Outpost looking like it does now?

Jabbar: Going back to the invasion, these creatures, when they landed, really prevented us from progressing. The idea is that they’ve destroyed the way the world currently works, and for years we just struggled to get by. And then finally we’re rebuilding to get back where we are now, as opposed to just having flying cars in the distant future.

Can you describe the world-building elements in some further detail? What dictated their design? We don’t get to know the aliens — the “Heavies” — very well at all. What led you to shroud them in some mystery?

Jabbar: Story wise, in terms of why we don’t go into great detail about who the Heavies are, is that in the world the documentarians are making a film, that’s common knowledge to people of that world. So, when this film comes out, they’re very familiar with the Heavies. So that’s why the film tries to describe everything about them. And again, that leaves us open for a quadrilogy, to me, with two subsequent films and a prequel. And that gives the audience something to look forward to.

In terms of design, Eddie Yang and Steve Wang are responsible for the design of the creature. They both worked at Stan Winston Studios, that’s where I met Eddie, and worked with him on films like Iron Man and Man of Steel at his own company. So I had a long, working relationship with Eddie, and I knew that he would be able to bring this thing to life in a way that was really beyond anything I could imagine myself. He and Steve co-designed it, between those two guys — Steve most famously credited for designing the Predator at Stan Winston Studios. So I knew they could achieve anything I could imagine.

Damn it, I knew I saw a little Predator in the Heavies. I should have picked up on that.

Jabbar: [laughs]

I would get beat up if I didn’t ask this question, so I apologize ahead of time, but: What is happening this season on Game of Thrones? Can you tell us anything at all what’s going to happen?

Jabbar: Luckily I do know. But I’m sworn secrecy, and more than that I would be breaking contract with HBO if I said anything. But I will say, the books are out there, the books are fantastic, and start reading them.

What ultimately want to tell the story of Alien Outpost? Were you trying to draw parallels to the recent Iraq War? Or is this just a classic tale of heroism and bravery?

Jabbar: It’s definitely a classic tale of heroism and brotherhood, of bravery, between these soldiers that are out there, fighting these battles that may not be like World War II where there is a clear enemy and a clear bad guy. And things, much like today, are not as black and white as they used to be. I really wanted to draw on some similarities and conflicts we’re experiencing today, while telling a bigger story of just men that are banded together against a common enemy.

From IFC Midnight, Alien Outpost is out now in theaters and Video On Demand.

Briefly: If you’re playing Telltale’s adaptation of Game of Thrones (and if you’re a fan of the series or books, you definitely should be), you’ll be happy to know that the developer has just released a stellar launch trailer for the game’s next episode.

The episode is titled ‘The Lost Lords’, and it will debut on PC, Mac, PS3, and PS4 on tomorrow (Feb 3rd), Xbox 360 and Xbox One of February 4th, and iOS and Android devices on February 5th.

The game “tells the story of House Forrester. Caught up in the events of The War of the Five Kings, they are placed in a precarious position where members of the household must do everything they can to prevent the house from meeting its doom.”

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know what you thought of the first episode!

House Forrester is in disarray. Their liege lord and his heir are dead, and Ironrath is occupied by Whitehill soldiers. The survival of the family depends upon those who are left. Placed at King’s Landing, the epicenter of intrigue, Mira Forrester must weigh her loyalty to Margaery Tyrell against the needs of her family, while choosing how to play the political games of Tyrion Lannister. One misstep could spell doom for Mira and her entire family. To the far north, Gared Tuttle finds that the wall and its crows hold little love for a squire from the Wolfswood, but finds kinship in the bastard son of Ned Stark. Gared must prove worthy of becoming a ranger in order to carry out the mission given him; one that is vital to the future of those he serves. To the east, Asher Forrester, the exiled son, is called back to Westeros to aid his family, but how can one man help when the Boltons rule the north with an iron fist? Meanwhile, an unexpected source of hope returns to the Forresters, but Ironrath is no place for the weak.

Briefly: HBO has finally let us know exactly when we’ll be able to return to Westerns.

The network today revealed that Game of Thrones anticipated fifth season will premiere on April 12th.

Late last year HBO announced that a standalone streaming service would debut alongside the show’s fifth season, though there was no mention of the service in today’s announcement.

Are you ready for the long break to end? What have you been occupying your time with since Game of Thrones left us last? Maybe playing that awesome Telltale game?
