After the universe shattering events of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ you might be asking yourself what the consequence of Marvel’s new ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ are! Maybe you just have a ton of questions! Like where was Scott? Does this movie take place at the same time as ‘Inifinity War’? Why should we care about a funny movie about two tiny heroes after everything that just happened? What Easter Eggs pop up that might shed light on the rest of the Marvel Universe? Or is this movie even a lot of fun? The answer to that last one is YES! The answers to the rest and a lot more require you to listen to Ian and I get into MAJOR SPOILER detail about Marvel’s latest as we talk about the events of this film, what we loved and maybe didn’t and of course what ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ means for the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe! Enjoy!

Briefly: This has to be the best Super Bowl spot that I’ve seen so far this year.

The video features two thirsty heroes, and just one Coca-Cola Mini. “Witness an epic chase between Marvel’s biggest and smallest Super Heroes: the Incredible Hulk and Astonishing Ant-Man. Despite their differences in size, Hulk and Ant-Man both know what it’s like to get thirsty. But when there’s just one #CokeMini left in the fridge, who will prevail?”

Yep. It’s about Ant-Man and Hulk fighting over the last Coca-Cola Mini, and it’s freaking awesome.

Take a look below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Damn, could I ever go for a Coke right now.

Man, these leaks seem to hit Disney Infinity hard, don’t they?

A few months after a few of the upcoming Marvel figures were leaked ahead of the Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set scheduled to launch in March, an apparent retailer leak has shown off these figures all over again, with one extra surprise being added to the Disney Originals roster. From the expected, to the teased, to the completely out of left field, here are the characters and power discs being added to the Disney Infinity collection.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Leak Black Suit Spider Man

Starting with one we all knew was coming, Black Suit Spider-Man was previously exclusive to the PS Vita version of Disney Infinity 2.0, and was clearly listed as a new character under the Marvel character roster in 3.0. Even if he wasn’t a surprise, (and despite the costume being available as a power disc,) Symbiote Spidey looks amazing up close. I know this because I was one of the people who bought the Vita version just for him early last year. It’s worth it, people!

Disney Infinity 3.0 Leak Ant Man

Teased months ago on the Disney Infinity Facebook page, Ant-Man is finally headed to the game with his own figure. Despite appearing as a mission giver and assist character via his own Power Disc, Ant-Man will now be fully playable, with an updated design based more on his movie version. Sure to ride the wave of momentum the character is enjoying after his movie turned out to be pretty great, I can’t wait to add him to my growing collection.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Leak Vision

As one of the two major leaks from October, we finally have a mock up of what Vision’s figure and box will look like together. While somewhat expected because of his debut in Age Of Ultron, Vision is sure to bring some exciting new moves with the power of his Infinity Stone once the character is released.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Leak Black Panther

Easily my favorite figure from the leaked set, (and possibly ever if the detail in the image translates to the final release,) Black Panther looks like an absolute beast! Just in time for his big screen debut in Captain America: Civil War, the prince of Wakanda will go well with the updated First Avenger Captain America launching with Marvel Battlegrounds.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Leak Marvel Power Discs

The next batch of Marvel Power Discs feature a variety of characters and items from the most recent films, including the Nova Corps logo, Ghost Rider’s motorcycle, (despite having no Ghost Rider,) and the Cosmic Cube. What’s most surprising, is what seems to be a Darkhawk support disc, a more obscure character who is typically associated with Nova, but hasn’t made an appearance in the games or movies at this point. Maybe it’s hinting at future plans? Or maybe it’s just a cool bonus for the hardcore comic fans!

Disney Infinity 3.0 Leak Baloo

And lastly, the character that I did not see coming is Baloo, although it’s clear Disney saw him as a “Bear Necessity”. With a joyous expression reminiscent of his beloved song and dance sequence from The Jungle Book, details on what his in game abilities will be at this point are unknown. Once Disney sends out the official details however, we’ll be sure to post the updates!

You might have noticed the Wi-Fi logo at the bottom of each box. Considering past games have had the entire release schedule pre-installed on the disc, (and ruining the surprise in the process,) 3.0 is allowing the developers to add characters post launch. Unfortunately, this also means that an Internet connection is needed for characters who are being added late in the game’s life. It’s a give and take, but overall, I feel this is a positive, especially since surprises like Baloo would’ve been spoiled in August if this wasn’t the case.

What are your favorites from these new figures, and who do you hope to see get added to the game? Let us know in the comments!

Whoa. On Tuesday, December 8th Marvel teams up with Amazon on an exclusive offering to knock your Captain America socks clean off! The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two collection drops only on Amazon with all new bonus content, film replicas and more. In addition, each film features custom disc sleeves from artist Matt Ferguson.

Geekscape got a sneak peek at these alternate covers to share with you—and they’re freaking awesome. Go ahead feast your eyes and start squirreling away your pennies!

This collection is not messing around—it doesn’t seem like this is going to be the “pretty good one,” only to be replaced next year by the “super awesome edition.” This collection already has all the goods I look for in my film collecting proclivities—and then a little more! I ended up buying a 3D TV several Black Fridays ago when it was the same price as the standard model and I’ve been enjoying it ever since. As a result, if a movie I want comes out on Blu-ray and there’s a 3D version—that’s the one I buy. That and so much more is already baked into this collection! In their own words:

The limited edition, 13-Disc Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two Collection invites you to hold the greatest power in the cosmos in your grasp – an orb containing one of the legendary Infinity Stones! Plus Blu-ray 3D™, Blu-ray™ and Digital Copies of all Phase 2 films, in collectible packaging designed by artist Matt Ferguson. This set overflows with stunning Marvel memorabilia, including a gold-foiled page from the book of Dark Elves, an ancient drawing from the Morag vault, Avengers and S.T.R.I.K.E. uniform patches, a replica of the Tony Stark Tattoo from Marvel’s Iron Man 3, and much more!

I mean, come on!—there’s a freakin’ ancient drawing from the Morag vault! What more can you possibly ask for?!

Personally, there were some moments I didn’t fully connect with in this film collection—but honestly, I take the blame on those for the time being. Maybe I was in the wrong mood when I saw them or something—planning to give Iron Man 3Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron further viewings before making my final call on them. (Especially after getting a better understanding of what went into this intricate web Marvel is weaving as best they can during this release event.) However, here’s the thing—even if every film isn’t up to the snuff of say, Guardians of the Galaxy, they’re still better than most other offerings in their genre; meaning—you can’t lose, even if you lose, with these films. You will be properly entertained come hell or high water!

This unveiling comes properly on the heels of the release of the premiere trailer for the first film in Phase Three, Captain America: Civil War, this week. Whoowhee!—that trailer’s some dramatic adrenaline right there.

And now, my lovelies, because these are just the sort of details I hunt down when considering investing in a collection to add to my. . . collection, here are all the technical details they’ve provided us at this time:

Briefly: The long troubled Ant-Man gave Marvel fans everywhere a pleasant surprise when an admirable film filled with fantastic humour debuted last Summer.

Now, the Blu-Ray release is fast approaching its December 8th launch date, and today a gag-reel from the release made its way online that shows off just how much fun the cast had making the feature.

It’s fairly short, ringing in at just over 30 seconds… and it’s basically just the cast dancing the entire time.

In any case, it’s damned hilarious.

Take a look at the clip below, and be sure to let us know what you thought of Ant-Man!

https://youtu.be/7m05juc9CYM

I didn’t know that these guys could move like that!

Marvel is really keeping the hype train a chugging, as their “Phase 3” movement will begin with a sequel to this years blockbuster Ant-Man which earned the studio $410 Million globally.

The studio announced that Ant-Man and The Wasp is set to hit theaters July 6th, 2018 and has Hope Van Dyne taking up the role of The Wasp.

The announcement of the sequel comes with the news that there are a few changes to the Marvel lineup. Black Panther will be moving UP to February 16th, 2018 and Captain Marvel on March of 2019.

There are also three films coming in 2020 that I’m dubbing the “Mystery Movies”. Marvel Studios is having a release on May 1st, July 10th and November 6th of 2020.

Paul Rudd will reprise his role as Ant-Man in Captain America: Civil War which is hitting theaters May 6th 2016.

Today would have been Jack Kirby’s 98th birthday. If you aren’t familiar with his career, I assure you that he is referred to as the King of Comics for good reason. His mind and drawings have been responsible for some of the most iconic characters in comic book history. Properties such as The Fantastic Four, Captain America, Thor, X-Men, The Avengers, and many more have since transcended the paper medium and made their way to the big screen. With their success has brought an opportunity for lesser-known comic book properties to be developed for television and movie theatre screens and yes, as you might have guessed, Kirby is responsible for many of them too.

Let’s take a look at some characters you might not have known Jack drew:

Groot

TTA-13
Tales to Astonish #13 (1959)

Before he was a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy he was The Monster from Planet X! He also said more than just “I am Groot.” He didn’t become a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy until the 2008 comic book series.

Ant-Man

TTA-35
Tales to Astonish #35 (1959)

While many didn’t know of Ant-Man until this summer’s movie, Kirby drew Hank Pym in his Ant-Man costume back in 1959.

Doctor Doom

FF-5
Fantastic Four #5 (1962)

Ok, for some of you this may be obvious, but The Fantastic Four had another movie out this Summer so he gets a spot on the list. That and he’s one of the greatest villains in comics!

Black Panther

FF-52
Fantastic Four #52 (1966)

Marvel broke the colour barrier in comics when they introduced their first black superhero, Black Panther! He is king of the great nation of Wakanda, a brilliant scientist, and a warrior of great skill. Marvel has confirmed that the Black Panther will be part of their Phase Three slate of films.

Baron Strucker

SF-5
Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #5 (1964)

Baron Strucker made his first appearance on the big screen played by Thomas Kretschmann in 2014 during the mid-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Kirby first drew him in 1964.

Bucky

CA-001
Captain America #1 (1941)

As we roll into Captain America: Civil War, Bucky’s (well, the Winter Solder’s) role will continue to grow. Kirby created the character back in 1941!

Peggy Carter

TOS-77
Tales of Suspense #77 (1966)

Peggy Carter first appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger. The character then gained much more popularity when she got her own show, Agent Carter. Kirby sketched her first adventure with Captain America in the 77th issues of Tales of Suspense.

Red Skull

CA-07
Captain America #7 (1941)

Another character who appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger. This iconic villain first sketched by The King in Captain America #7.

Arnim Zola

CA-208
Captain America #208 (1977)

We saw this villain adapted for film in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Arnim Zola was one of Kirby’s last contributions to the Captain America mythos.

Baron Zemo

A-7
Avengers #6 (1964)

Alright, some of you might not have heard of this character yet but you will when Daniel Brühl portrays him in Captain America: Civil War.

So, what are your favorite Kirby comics and characters? Let us know in the comments below!

There’s a game I like to play when I watch movies, called “What Broke My Suspension of Disbelief?” Sometimes it’s something big, like a Jaeger bashing a Kaiju with an entire ship, and sometimes it’s small, like the fly on that dude’s forehead in Troll 2. And don’t even get me started on the cannibalism in Fried Green Tomatoes (because I’ll be discussing that in a future article). Whatever causes it, it’s always entertaining to look back on a movie, be it good or utter garbage, and contemplate that one scene where the people writing the script just asked too much of you, their devoted audience.

With the current wave of superhero movies being made in the past decade or so, few things are as ridiculous as forcing two complete strangers to fall in love as they are being shot at by lasers and buildings are falling down around them. As the title implies, this article is FULL OF SPOILERS, so don’t read it unless you’ve seen pretty much all of the MCU films as well as most of the other recent superhero movies. Or you don’t care about having romantic subplots discussed.

My wife and I finally got around to seeing Ant-Man at the theater this past weekend, and something has been bugging me (heh) ever since: that kiss. I’m obviously no Puritan when it comes to my movie tastes; I watch stuff like Wolfcop and Dr. Giggles for Horror Movie Night on a weekly basis, and I did just watch a bunch of guys in superhero costumes punch each other silly.

So why does this 20-second portion of Ant-Man stick out so much to me? As the title here states, it’s completely unnecessary to the film, and a bit unrealistic to have occurring after a week of Hope Pym beating the tar out of Scott Lang in the basement and staring daggers at him and Hank. It’s unrealistic in a movie about a guy who invents a shrinking suit and has the ability to control ants – that’s saying something. Part of me realizes that their kiss was shoehorned in for the comedic relief with grumpy Dad (and to set things in motion for Ant-Man 2), but the rest of me is having trouble letting go and enjoying the rest of the movie. If they had just given a subtle hint that they were going to hook up in the next movie, I would be here writing about how amazing, witty and just plain FUN the script is. But nope, they had to turn The Wasp into a Battle Babe.

“What’s a Battle Babe,” you say? I thought you’d never ask! Battle Babes are strong female characters who are introduced as valuable allies in the beginning of a movie, only to be relegated to love interests or damsels in distress by the third act. The most damning part of the phenomenon is that I can’t think of any film where a male character goes through the same devolution (probably because that would be emasculating, and the majority of people consuming superhero and action movies are male). Concrete examples will paint the picture best, I think.

LillyBar640

Hope Pym (Evangeline Lilly) in Ant-Man; as mentioned above, teaches Scott Lang to fight and control ants, helps coordinate the main heist and then pisses it all away by inexplicably falling for Scott Lang (who killed her old boyfriend Darren Cross just hours before). It’s like watching the Karate Kid lip-locking Mr. Miyagi for no reason after winning the All-Valley Karate Tournament.

"Marvel's Thor: The Dark World"..Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) ..Ph: Jay Maidment..© 2013 MVLFFLLC. TM & © 2013 Marvel. All Rights Reserved.

Dr. Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) in Thor; she starts the movie as a freaking ASTROPHYSICIST and is not once seen using that massive intellect in either the first or second film to do anything but get into situations that require her godly boyfriend. Sif (Jaimie Alexander) is an even worse case/better example, as she spends Thor and Thor II kicking ass from one end of the Bifrost to the other and is written as a Thor clinger. Luckily, she pops up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. free of romantic BS.

RASPUTIN

Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was hinted that she and Cap had a bit of mutual attraction in The Winter Soldier, but luckily nothing came of it (thereby saving my favorite MCU movie from certain disaster). But as soon as the Avengers start partying in AoU, sparks fly between Natasha and Bruce Banner. It’s not even subtle, and sets up an interesting dramatic point about Natasha’s experiences as a child assassin, but forcing the relationship just to get there is an low point in an otherwise light summer blockbuster. It also dismantles most of the badassness Black Widow has cultivated in her preceding films. Once a lethal assassin, now just a lady without a baby…

3f9176e1ff65c93c683fd98be97c0571

Sgt. Rita Rose Vrataski (Emily Blunt) in Edge of Tomorrow. Sargeant. SARGEANT. That right there denotes that she’s pretty tough and can kill Mimics with the best of them. She realizes Cage (Tom Cruise) is looping after each death, and trains him accordingly, only for him to fall in love with her and keep trying to get her to safety each loop. Rita does go down fighting, but still qualifies for the title since she’s sexualized almost from the get-go and you know from the first minute Cage meets her, she’s going to be the love interest.

8

Evey (Natalie Portman, again!) in V for Vendetta. V spends half of the movie using her to help him kill his enemies, and then confesses his love for her before dying. I can’t believe how badly the Wachowskis screwed up Alan Moore’s original storyline by adding that. She was supposed to have been imprisoned and tortured by V to shape her into his successor, instead we got Lolita with Guy Fawkes masks.

un-wallpaper-del-film-elektra-con-un-primo-piano-di-jennifer-garner-elektra-186878897

Elektra (Jennifer Garner) in Daredevil and Elektra. While I realize that Elektra and Daredevil were an on-again-off-again couple in the comics, the films really played her up like a girl with a crush, particularly in the self-titled sequel. You’re supposedly the great martial arts “treasure” and more or less throw it all away at the end of Elektra to smooch the father of the girl you saved. Because every warrior woman is just wasting time until she can put down the katanas and start a family.

Even the pictures I found from each film portray these women as sexy and/or weak. It’s sort of creepy.

Now, those are some of the worst offenders in recent memory, but there ARE ways to do it without making me roll my eyes. Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) in Captain America and especially Agent Carter kicks so much ass and while she does have feelings for Cap, it never gets in the way of her busting skulls. She finds herself in peril but never waits for some dude to save the day; she’s a proactive heroine. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) in Guardians of the Galaxy is ALMOST a Battle Slut, and will likely become one in the sequel, but I think James Gunn did a great job poking fun at the trope a bit and didn’t leave her waiting to be rescued by Peter Quill.

Maybe my problem with Battle Babes and all the unnecessary romance in comic book movies is that, for me, unconsummated affection works better than forcing strangers to fall in love while evading death. That comic book movies seem to utilize Battle Babes most of the time, doesn’t make me love the genre any less, but their prevalence in a film is an easy barometer for me to tell how good the adaption is.

So, what do you think? Am I crazy? Are Battle Babes anachronistic? Leave a comment!

Post script: I just realized that Batman does kind of get the Battle Babe treatment (thanks to Talia’s betrayal) in The Dark Knight Rises. So there’s one.

On the Disney Infinity Facebook page, the team teased some pretty big news.

Considering this post was made on the same day as the release of the Ant-Man film, (which you can read up on with our official review,) it’s safe to say that the latest hero to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe could be making his playable debut in Disney Infinity 3.0. Oh, and then there’s this image.

Disney Infinity Ant Man Banner

While the focus seems to be on Star Wars this time around, it’s still not out of the ordinary for more Marvel heroes to be added as well. After all, a new Avengers Play Set packaged with a new Ultron and Hulkbuster Iron Man figure have already been revealed, so it’s not hard to imagine more heroes making the rounds in Disney’s Toy Box. When you consider how easy it would be to plug the hero into the game due to his model already existing thanks to his support character power disc in 2.0, and it suddenly becomes an obvious choice.

Of course, this also means there’s one more figure to invest in. Are you on board with parting with even more cash? As a irresponsible fanatical adult, I know I am!

I’m seeing widespread panic this morning because of Ant-Man’s conservative take at the box office this past weekend.  That conservative amount? $58 MILLION DOLLARS. Which was enough to give Marvel its 12th entry to debut at number one. Early projections had the movie tracking at around $65 million, so $58 million is a tad under Disney’s expectations, but not enough of a reason for Marvel President Kevin Feige to start shopping his summer home in Malibu. “Superhero Fatigue” is the buzzword spreading around the internet this morning like a wildfire. So, let’s all take a step back, breathe, and analyze what happened at the box office this weekend.

First and foremost, Ant-Man had some HEAVYWEIGHTS competing with it at the box office for your money. Minions, which was only in its second weekend, is still taking over the world one IHOP commercial at a time. Trainwreck, had great marketing, a well known director in Apatow, and legit recognizable faces in Schumer, Hader, and even Lebron James. Also, Inside Out and Jurassic World continue to pull in solid earnings given the fact they were released weeks ago. I believe, because of extremely positive word of mouth and reviews (79% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.1 on IMDB), Ant-Man won’t see a huge dip in its second weekend. A $35 million second weekend would be exceptional. Add in the overseas box office and it will already be in the green on its modest (for a Marvel film) budget of $130 million.

mh

There’s enough newness on the horizon in the superhero genre to keep it fresh and keep audiences engaged. Suicide Squad looks like nothing we’ve ever seen before, Deadpool is going for a hard R rating, and Marvel getting their hands on Spider-man may finally be the jolt the franchise needs to give us the Spider-man movie we’ve been craving (Raimi ALMOST did it for me but not quite). So all of this talk of Superhero Fatigue is just lazy internet writing, because when you look deeper, we have so much to look forward to in this genre. I for one can’t wait! So sorry Alan Moore, who recently made his biggest contribution in years saying that superheroes are a “cultural catastrophe”, this genre is here to stay and I could not be happier with where it is heading.

Evident by their massively interconnected stories that will come to an epic union in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, Marvel has been an extremely calculated and well-oiled machine. Therefore, upon hearing the news of an Ant-Man release starring comedy icon, Paul Rudd, and directed by Yes Man and The Break-Up filmmaker, Peyton Reed, these head-scratching choices felt very unorthodox for such a meticulous studio. And although Marvel placed all of their power and resources behind a team of stars unfamiliar with the superhero norm, Ant-Man still unfolds as another solid spectacle in a long line of interweaving tales.

After pulling what many would describe as an “ethical heist” that landed him in jail, burglar extraordinaire, Scott Lang (Rudd), is released from prison and dead-set on making things right with his young daughter. But after an honest lifestyle shows very little remorse for an ex-convict, Scott considers a return to his old ways. However, when the groundbreaking scientist, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), learns that his old protege has discovered the secrets to his most powerful invention, one that could be absolutely catastrophic if placed in the wrong hands, he enlists the help of Lang to break into a heavily guarded facility and steal back his secret.

Ant1

Marvel’s Ant-Man, the latest in a lengthy string of newly introduced superheros with a long-standing history in the comic book realm, is a worthwhile endeavor for fans of this widely developed universe. While the film is a far cry from the most unforgettable superhero flicks to ever captivate audiences, it does a stellar job of sticking to Marvel’s indistinguishable formula of constant jokes and heavy action. Sporting a sleek and toned physique for the role, Paul Rudd handles each of the fast-paced sequences just as well as his more natural comedic moments. Ant-Man is such an interesting character who possesses unique abilities that make for a cleverly filmed movie. Constant changes in physical size from small to large give the director a lot of freedom to use his imagination and he doesn’t disappoint. Furthermore, it would be a huge disservice to address all of the fine attributes to the film and ignore one of Ant-Man‘s true highlights, the hysterical co-starring work from Michael Pena. As one of Scott Lang’s partners in crime, Pena provides such an elevated level of humor that he almost steals the show himself.

Any2

Despite a funny script loaded with timely laughs and a fresh sense of creativity, Ant-Man can’t avoid a few unfortunate issues. With a tiring mid-section that results from a major shift to a more dramatic tone, one that proves wildly ineffective, the film leaves you begging to reach the finish line. In addition, Ant-Man suffers from another common blemish evident in many recent Marvel productions. These films devote so much of their attention to bridging their characters together that they often avoid building a strong villainous foe. I don’t know about you, but when I’m going into a superhero flick, I want a nemesis for the ages. It’s something Christopher Nolan mastered so well in his Dark Knight trilogy, but a non-existent theme in many of Marvel’s latest works.

Ant-Man is nowhere near a must-see summer blockbuster, but it’s another above average addition to Marvel’s quickly-expanding universe. Any doubts surrounding Paul Rudd in the leading role should be squashed like a bug. He and his many co-stars keep the film light and entertaining all at the same time. If you’re someone committed to Marvel’s illustrious future plans, then don’t worry because Ant-Man is another inclusion that warrants a watch.

Briefly: Following the sweet international trailer from just last week, Marvel has just debuted the first official clip for next month’s Ant-Man.

I’ve been pretty on-the-fence on the film since its troubled production began, and especially following that less-than-stellar first trailer. It’s been a long time coming, however, and as the release approaches, the film’s ever improving marketing has definitely been raising my interest, and at this point I can’t wait to line-up on July 17th.

Today’s clip marks the first time that Paul Rudd uses the Ant-Man suit, and it’s pretty freaking awesome.

In the film, “Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world”

Take a look at the clip below, and be sure to let us know what you hope to see from the feature! Ant-Man hits theatres on July 17th!

Briefly: Marvel’s Ant-Man is now just a few weeks away from theatres, and the studio has began to turn its marketing machine up to 11. Following the new poster from just a few days back, a new international trailer has just debuted, featuring a ton of fresh, fresh footage, and a batch of new laughs to boot.

Briefly: Marvel’s Ant-Man is less than two months away from theatres at this point, and the studio has began to turn its marketing machine up to 11. Following the new poster from just a few days back, a new, one minute-long TV spot has just hit the web.

The spot features a ton of footage that we haven’t seen yet, and definitely looks to expand on the laughs that we first saw in the previous trailer.

Briefly: Following the much better second trailer from last month, and a cool poster from just a few weeks back, Marvel has just debuted another one sheet for July’s Ant-Man.

This one features our shrunken hero atop one of his insect pals dodging a series of bullets. I wonder how many times we’ll see that in the feature.

A small casting announcement today as Marvel has revealed Paul Rudd will make his first appearance alongside the Avengers as Scott Lang/Ant-Man in Captain America: Civil War. We’ll have to wait to see whether Rudd ends up making more than just a cameo in the film but we should have a pretty good idea how big his role in it will be after we see Ant-Man.

Captain America: Civil War is going to be loaded with superheroes from the Marvel universe. The cast so far looks something like this:

Captain America – Chris Evans
Iron Man – Robert Downey Jr
The Falcon – Anthony Mackie
Black Widow – Scarlett Johansson
War Machine – Don Cheadle
The Vision – Paul Bettany
The Winter Soldier – Sebastien Stan
Agent 13 – Emily VanCamp
Black Panther – Chadwick Boseman
General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross – William Hurt
Crossbones – Frank Grillo
Everett K Ross? – Martin Freeman

As well as Daniel Brühl casted to play the iconic Captain America villain Baron Zemo.

Right now this looks more like another Avengers movie than a Captain America but hey, no harm in that.

Ant-Man comes out later this summer (July 17) and Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6, 2016.

Marvel has just released a full character poster for Ant-Man. Now that the Avengers train has left the station, Marvel/Disney can now focus its media machine onto Ant-Man, which up until recently felt like it was getting the back burner treatment. I’m hoping the movie does well and gets connected deeper into the Marvel Universe because right now it just feels like a stand alone film.

Also, what is up with Michael Peña on that poster, he looks crazy high.

Marvel’s Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Peña as Luis, Judy Greer as Maggie, Tip “TI” Harris as Dave, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, Wood Harris as Gale, Jordi Mollà as Castillo and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym.

In “Ant-Man,” Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) approaches master thief Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) with a suit that grants him the ability to shrink in size but increases his strength! Scott must embrace his inner hero and put the suit to good use and save the world under Pym’s leadership.

Believe it or not, I can’t provide any insight to this trailer. I’m currently having audio issues with my computer, so I can’t dish out any snark or praise because I can’t hear a single damn thing.

But hey, Ant-Man looks good at least! Watching it without the sound it looks like a pretty serious movie despite the title being, you know, Ant-Man. And then there are shots with giant bugs and all of that goes away.

Paul Rudd is Ant-Man and you can see him crawl his way on screen July 17th!

Following the clever ant-sized teaser and poster, the first full teaser trailer for Ant-Man is finally, finally, finally here!

The teaser shows off the first footage of Paul Rudd in the sweet-looking suit, and while it doesn’t reveal a ton of plot, we get a good idea of Lang’s intentions, and also get to see just how good of a salesman Michael Douglas’s Hank Pym can be. Serious, that monologue though.

The teaser features a far more serious tone than I’d expected, especially with Step Brothers director Adam McKay at the helm (and not to mention the fact that it stars Paul Rudd), but after the hilarious, heartbreaking blast that was Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, I’m ready for something a little more serious (though hopefully just as different). After all of the controversy surrounding the film over the last year, it’s great to finally see some footage, and it’s even better that the footage is freakin’ rad.

Take a look at the teaser below, and let us know what you think! Ant-Man hits theatres on July 17th, 2015!

On my way back from San Diego Comic-Con this year, I hopped on a plane to Newark Liberty. Sitting in first class? Paul freaking Rudd. My first thought was, I just came from one of the biggest pop culture and entertainment conventions where some information about Marvel’s Ant-Man was revealed, and here he is on this plane! My second thought was he had nice hair.

And that hair looks even nicer on this swell cover from Entertainment Weekly!

The campaign for this movie is super obvious, but it’s still cute. It’s playing to the quirky sensibility of the character, although could they really do anything like that for a guy like Iron Man? The Hulk? Should they sell torn-up magazines or issues stained with martinis?

If these ant-sized reveals aren’t enough, check out the official poster below!

Oh that’s just precious.

Don’t forget, a full Ant-Man teaser airs tonight with Agent Carter! Who else is stoked for that series, by the way? Here’s another look — a human-sized look — at the teaser, in case your attention span is also ant-sized.

Briefly: A few days back Marvel debuted the first teaser teaser (yep, teaser for a teaser trailer) for this year’s Ant-Man… except that teaser was pretty unique in that you couldn’t really watch it because the damned thing was “ant-sized”.

Marvel has finally debuted a “human-sized” version of the same teaser, so our eyes can now witness the bad-ass first footage from the film. It’s a pretty quick look, but it makes me very excited to see what Marvel shows us tomorrow during Agent Carter.

Take a look at the footage below, and let us know what you think! Ant-Man hits theatres on July 17th!

Briefly: We’ll be able to see the actual first look at Ant-Man during Tuesday’s premiere episode of Agent Carter (can you believe that it’s already here?), but Marvel’s just taken the overused and uninspired ‘teaser for a teaser’ formula… and made it even more frustrating.

Yep, it’s a teaser for next week’s Ant-Man teaser, but ant-sized.

Have fun (not).

Again, catch the full teaser on the January 6th episode of Agent Carter!

Briefly: We’re now just seven months away from Marvel’s beyond-anticipated Ant-Man, and a just released promotional banner has just given us our first look at the villainous Yellowjacket.

It’s been some time since we’ve seen any news come from the film, but seeing as a 1:48 long teaser trailer has recently been classified, I’d imagine that this dry spell will end soon, and colour us excited.

Take a look at the promotional banner below (and click for larger), and be sure to let us know what you think! Ant-Man hits theatres on July 17th!

Briefy: Following the casting additions and full synopsis released just yesterday, Marvel has debuted the first official still of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man.

The still certainly reveals little about the character (except that he wears an ugly hoodie), but it’s exciting to see the long-troubled film finally starting to come together.

You can take a look at the still below, and be sure to let us know what you think! Ant-Man hits theatres on July 17th!

Paul Rudd

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Briefly: The long-troubled production of Ant-Man seems like it’s finally back on track, with Yes Man director Peyton Reed now at the helm, and a batch of new cast members joining the project.

The most notable casting addition is John Slattery, who will again play Howard Stark. Here’s who else you’ll be seeing:

The film also includes outstanding additional cast including Corey Stoll (“House of Cards,” “The Bourne Legacy”), Bobby Cannavale (“Danny Collins,” “Annie,” “HBO’s “The Long Play”), Michael Peña (“End of Watch,” “American Hustle”), Abby Ryder Fortson (“Togetherness”), Judy Greer (“13 Going on 30,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”), David Dastmalchian (“The Dark Knight,” “Prisoners”), Wood Harris (“Remember the Titans,” “The Wire”), John Slattery (“Mad Men,” Marvel’s “Iron Man 2”) and Gregg Turkington (“The Comedy,” “On Cinema”) and multi-hyphenate T.I. (“American Gangster,” “Takers”).

Marvel also debuted a new synopsis for the film, which you can read below.

With all of the casting and director changes, are you still hopeful for the film? Ant-Man hits theatres on July 17th, 2015.

Briefly: It’s been nearly two weeks since director Edgar Wright left Ant-Man over creative differences with Marvel, and the studio has now announced his replacement.

It seems as though it was tough for Marvel to find a director to take over the project, as a myriad of names apparently declined, but we now have a yes man in Yes Man director Peyton Reed. Here’s the announcement from Marvel:

When Marvel’s “Ant-Man” hits theaters July 17, 2015, director Peyton Reed will help shepherd the hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cast led by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, with writer Adam McKay contributing to the film’s script.

So apparently all this chaos still hasn’t changed the film’s release date, and the script will also received further rewrites by Step Brothers writer Adam McKay.

A new synopsis for the film also hit the web today, so take a look at that below, and let us know what you think of the announcement.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Just released from Marvel Studios, Edgar Wright will no longer be working on the film adaptation of Ant Man.

Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on Ant-Man due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.

This is fairly surprising as Edgar Wright has been on board with this film since it was first conceived way back in 2010, and was even onstage at SDCC 2012 to show off their first test footage of the film.

It would be very interesting to find out what exactly was the hang up between Wright and Marvel. All we know is we’re just gonna grab a pint at the Winchester and wait for this all to blow over.
