Whoa. On Tuesday, December 8th Marvel teams up with Amazon on an exclusive offering to knock your Captain America socks clean off! The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two collection drops only on Amazon with all new bonus content, film replicas and more. In addition, each film features custom disc sleeves from artist Matt Ferguson.

Geekscape got a sneak peek at these alternate covers to share with you—and they’re freaking awesome. Go ahead feast your eyes and start squirreling away your pennies!

This collection is not messing around—it doesn’t seem like this is going to be the “pretty good one,” only to be replaced next year by the “super awesome edition.” This collection already has all the goods I look for in my film collecting proclivities—and then a little more! I ended up buying a 3D TV several Black Fridays ago when it was the same price as the standard model and I’ve been enjoying it ever since. As a result, if a movie I want comes out on Blu-ray and there’s a 3D version—that’s the one I buy. That and so much more is already baked into this collection! In their own words:

The limited edition, 13-Disc Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two Collection invites you to hold the greatest power in the cosmos in your grasp – an orb containing one of the legendary Infinity Stones! Plus Blu-ray 3D™, Blu-ray™ and Digital Copies of all Phase 2 films, in collectible packaging designed by artist Matt Ferguson. This set overflows with stunning Marvel memorabilia, including a gold-foiled page from the book of Dark Elves, an ancient drawing from the Morag vault, Avengers and S.T.R.I.K.E. uniform patches, a replica of the Tony Stark Tattoo from Marvel’s Iron Man 3, and much more!

I mean, come on!—there’s a freakin’ ancient drawing from the Morag vault! What more can you possibly ask for?!

Personally, there were some moments I didn’t fully connect with in this film collection—but honestly, I take the blame on those for the time being. Maybe I was in the wrong mood when I saw them or something—planning to give Iron Man 3Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron further viewings before making my final call on them. (Especially after getting a better understanding of what went into this intricate web Marvel is weaving as best they can during this release event.) However, here’s the thing—even if every film isn’t up to the snuff of say, Guardians of the Galaxy, they’re still better than most other offerings in their genre; meaning—you can’t lose, even if you lose, with these films. You will be properly entertained come hell or high water!

This unveiling comes properly on the heels of the release of the premiere trailer for the first film in Phase Three, Captain America: Civil War, this week. Whoowhee!—that trailer’s some dramatic adrenaline right there.

And now, my lovelies, because these are just the sort of details I hunt down when considering investing in a collection to add to my. . . collection, here are all the technical details they’ve provided us at this time:

  • Marvel’s Iron Man 3 (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)

The barren Summer months of watered-down releases have finally come and gone. August left much to be desired, but September promises to deliver a fantastic collection of films arriving on DVD. Two of 2014’s finest early-year offerings headline a strong class of titles work checking out this month.

#1. Chef

chef

Jon Favreau puts all of his many talents on display as the writer, director and star of Chef, a heartwarming tale of a culinary genius desperately searching for a reasonable platform to creatively express his passion for cooking. And after a difference in opinion with his boss and a twitter battle with one of the most powerful food critics around costs him his job, he embarks on a food-truck journey with his chef-sidekick (played by John Leguizamo) and son. With a budget of merely $10 million, this little festival darling tells a story that is both tender and uplifting. Chef stands tall as one of 2014’s finest films and an experience that everyone savor. (September 30th)

#2. The Fault in Our stars

fault

Another very impressive film coming to DVD this September is Josh Boone’s adapted teenage drama, The Fault in Our Stars. Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort star as Hazel and Gus, a pair of ill teenagers who meet at a cancer support group. And no matter how much Hazel tries to distance herself from Gus to avoid an inevitable heartbreak, the witty and spry young man refuses to give up so easily. Catering to the emotions and intended to tug at the heartstrings, there’s no escaping the remarkable love story at the center of The Fault in our Stars.(September 16th)

#3. Neighbors

neighbors

One of 2014’s most notable comedies will be hitting shelves this month as well. Nicholas Stoller’s riotous R-rated comedy, Neighbors, follows a young married couple (Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne) who’s surprised to discover that a fraternity has purchased the house next door to them. Tip-toeing a fine line between adulthood and the college-lifestyle, they soon realize that they can’t keep up with party habits of their neighbors (Zac Efron and Dave Franco). High on improv comedy and desperate to deliver the shock-appeal, Neighbors is an indisputably hilarious effort that even culminates with a well-intended message. If you’re seeking some raunchy laughs, then look no further. (September 23rd)

Honorable Mention: While I unsatisfied with Godzilla (9/16) and suggest staying away from Draft Day (9/2) altogether, there are plenty of other secondary titles worth looking in to. A ton of praise has been given to one of 2014’s highest grossing films, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (9/9), so fans of the Marvel Universe will want to check that out. Various Sundance selections I got a chance to view include God’s Pocket (9/9), which is a fun watch for people from the Philly area, Cold in July (9/30), a highly praised festival favorite that I didn’t love, and the decent family drama Hellion (9/30). Three other indie titles I’m interested in seeing are Jesse Eisenberg in Night Moves (9/2), Guy Pearce in The Rover (9/23) and James Franco in Palo Alto (9/9).

Briefly: Captain America: The Winter Soldier is less than a month away from Blu-Ray, and Marvel has just officially debuted two deleted scenes from the release.

Cap 2 was a great watch when it hit theatres back in April, and I’m really looking forward to checking it out again. The Blu-Ray will hit stores on September 9th, and will include, Making-of Featurettes, Audio Commentary, Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes, Bloopers, And More…

Take a look at the scenes below, and let us know what you think!

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds Steve Rogers – aka Captain America – living quietly in Washington, DC, and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy – the Winter Soldier.

It’s time! Captain America: The Winter Soldier has arrived so it’s time for Ian Kerner to tell us everything there is to know about both the movie and the comic book origins! Is this the strongest Marvel movie yet? How faithful did they stick to the source material and where might things go from here? And do the events of the film mean you should go back to watching Agents of SHIELD? And can Ian convince me that all of the monologuing in the movie is justified? Just know one thing… THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!

Months of speculation have gone to waste as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has exited the DC cinematic universe to join the widely successful Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an off-handed comment made earlier today, The Rock blamed DC for “moving too slow” and “not knowing what the fuck they were doing” in regards to setting up their much anticipated cinematic crossovers. “It just got to this point where no one could smell what The Rock was cooking.” You can find the full statement below:

Over the past several years, I’ve grown with you all into loving what Marvel has done on the big screen. After being invited to watch a private screening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, I was blown away yet again. So I’m excited to announce that I will be entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe as M.O.D.O.K. in the third Captain American film. It’s great to be a part of something larger, especially when this something is the driving force behind super hero films.

Johnson will be joining the cinematic universe as M.O.D.O.K., and is said to be the main villain in the third installment of Captain America. May 2016 couldn’t come sooner!

Briefly: Sure, the Transformers: Age of Extinction IMAX poster was pretty cool, but the just released IMAX one-sheet for Captain America: The Winter Soldier is freaking gorgeous.

Take a look at the poster below, and if you missed it, watch the first 10 minutes of the movie here. Excited? You should be! Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theatres on April 4th!

You can take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! I can’t wait to see it when the film hits theatres on April 4th!

Briefly: We’ve seen him in the trailers, but Marvel has just launched a brand-new featurette for Captain America: The Winter Soldier that lets Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson / The Falcon take centre stage.

The film (finally) launches on April 4th, and from every piece of promotion we’ve seen so far, it looks insanely entertaining. The Winter Soldier is probably the phase three film that I’m most looking forward to.

You can take a look at the featurette below, and be sure to let us know what you hope to see in the full film. Just a few more weeks of waiting to go!

Briefly: Well, the Super Bowl is over. The game was miserable (well, for Broncos fans at least), but the commercials, trailers, and TV spots were great.

During the game, Marvel debuted a brand-new TV spot for the film, and subsequently released an awesome new trailer online. This Winter Soldier-focussed preview may be one of the best Marvel trailers that I’ve seen in quite some time. Seriously, it’s awesome!

Take a look at both the spot and trailer below, and let us know how much you’re looking forward to the film. Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theatres on April 4th!

Briefly: There doesn’t seem to be a lot of news coming out this year’s D23 expo (though there’s still plenty of time to change that), but this is definitely one of the more interesting tidbits.

While we’re bound to see more Captain America at San Diego Comic-Con next week, Disney has just debuted the teaser poster for next year’s Phase Two film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Being a teaser poster, the image really reveals nothing about the movie. Instead, it’s simply a cool, stylish shot of a war-torn shield, with the film’s April 4th release date underneath.

In any case, it’s an exciting taste of what’s to come. Take a look at the poster below, and look for more Captain America news when Geekscape heads to SDCC next week!

In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, Marvel’s Kevin Fiege dropped some new details regarding the highly-anticipated Russ Brothers’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier as well as revealing some brand new concept art for the filme. Fiege told the magazine:

wintere

“We weren’t going back to World War II. Cap cannot travel in time. So while Tony can go home to Malibu and Thor goes up to Asgard and Hulk can sort of ride the rails, Cap was stuck. So Cap does stay with S.H.I.E.L.D. because he has nowhere else to go. But he’s not necessarily comfortable there. And just as he’s given permission to let go of the past and to focus on the modern world, a ghost comes up. With the Greatest Generation in World World II, there’s a tendency to reflect on that period and say, ‘Things were black and white back then, and now it’s hard to know who the bad guys are.’ ‘We wanted to play on that a little with Cap being uncomfortable with the way S.H.I.E.L.D., and in particular Nick Fury, operates.”

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” picks up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

Actress Hayley Atwell, who portrayed Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger, recently made a semi-cryptic statement in an interview that seemingly implied that a new Marvel: One-Shot starring the character was on the way. At the Iron Man 3 red carpet premiere last night, Marvel Studios co-President Louis D’Esposito has confirmed the rumors of, stating that he had just directed a brand new One-Shot that would focus on a strong female character.

This new short will make its debut at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Last year D’Esposito’s previous One-Shot Item 47 debuted off site for a select group (that I was lucky enough to be among) through viral marketing, so you may want to keep your eyes out while walking around the area. Atwell will also reprise the role for next year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Keep an eye for more updates to pop up over the new few months.

Filming is underway on the highly-anticipated Captain America: The Winter Soldier and some photos from the set in Los Angeles have surfaced online. The photos featuring Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson reveal a first look at Cap’s new look in the upcoming film, which appears to be a mixture of his classic look with the Steve Rogers Super Soldier suit.

Filming is set to begin in just a few months and word is that Georges St. Pierre will be joining the cast of the Russo brother’s highly-anticipated Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The UFC champion, according to Latino-Review, has been cast in the role of the mercenary villain Batroc The Leaper.

In the comics, Batroc the Leaper has no powers, but is in peak physical condition and is a master in Savate, kickboxing and many other martial arts disciplines. George St-Pierre is a French-Canadian kickboxer who has no super powers himself but is definitely in pretty exceptional physical condition. The character is also a master thief and smuggler. The character doesn’t actually appear in the comic storyline that the film is based on, so it should be interesting to see where they fit him in.
