Whoa. On Tuesday, December 8th Marvel teams up with Amazon on an exclusive offering to knock your Captain America socks clean off! The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two collection drops only on Amazon with all new bonus content, film replicas and more. In addition, each film features custom disc sleeves from artist Matt Ferguson.

Geekscape got a sneak peek at these alternate covers to share with you—and they’re freaking awesome. Go ahead feast your eyes and start squirreling away your pennies!

This collection is not messing around—it doesn’t seem like this is going to be the “pretty good one,” only to be replaced next year by the “super awesome edition.” This collection already has all the goods I look for in my film collecting proclivities—and then a little more! I ended up buying a 3D TV several Black Fridays ago when it was the same price as the standard model and I’ve been enjoying it ever since. As a result, if a movie I want comes out on Blu-ray and there’s a 3D version—that’s the one I buy. That and so much more is already baked into this collection! In their own words:

The limited edition, 13-Disc Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two Collection invites you to hold the greatest power in the cosmos in your grasp – an orb containing one of the legendary Infinity Stones! Plus Blu-ray 3D™, Blu-ray™ and Digital Copies of all Phase 2 films, in collectible packaging designed by artist Matt Ferguson. This set overflows with stunning Marvel memorabilia, including a gold-foiled page from the book of Dark Elves, an ancient drawing from the Morag vault, Avengers and S.T.R.I.K.E. uniform patches, a replica of the Tony Stark Tattoo from Marvel’s Iron Man 3, and much more!

I mean, come on!—there’s a freakin’ ancient drawing from the Morag vault! What more can you possibly ask for?!

Personally, there were some moments I didn’t fully connect with in this film collection—but honestly, I take the blame on those for the time being. Maybe I was in the wrong mood when I saw them or something—planning to give Iron Man 3Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron further viewings before making my final call on them. (Especially after getting a better understanding of what went into this intricate web Marvel is weaving as best they can during this release event.) However, here’s the thing—even if every film isn’t up to the snuff of say, Guardians of the Galaxy, they’re still better than most other offerings in their genre; meaning—you can’t lose, even if you lose, with these films. You will be properly entertained come hell or high water!

This unveiling comes properly on the heels of the release of the premiere trailer for the first film in Phase Three, Captain America: Civil War, this week. Whoowhee!—that trailer’s some dramatic adrenaline right there.

And now, my lovelies, because these are just the sort of details I hunt down when considering investing in a collection to add to my. . . collection, here are all the technical details they’ve provided us at this time:

  • Marvel’s Iron Man 3 (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)

Yep, Avengers: Infinity War will be split into TWO parts. This is going to be HUGE!

I am super excited for these films and the introduction of these new characters into the MCU!

So, let the fantasy casting begin! Who do you think should play your favorite Marvel characters? Let us know in the comments section below!

Briefly: The cast of Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man has grown once more.

Following Patrick Wilson joining the cast back in February, Deadline has reported that Escape Plan and G.I. Joe: Retaliation star Matt Gerald has joined the film in a “villainous” role.

No other information on who Gerald will play was revealed, but we’ll be sure to fill you in as we learn more. Are you looking forward to Ant-Man? Sound out below!

Gerald

Briefly: There’s no word on who he’ll be playing, but Deadline has just reported that Patrick Wilson (Hard Candy, Watchmen) has joined the cast of Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man.

Wilson joins Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and maybe even Evangeline Lilly in the July 17th, 2015 release. Be sure to let us know who you’d like to see Wilson play in the comments below!

Briefly: We’ve got Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, we’ve got Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and now Evangeline Lilly is allegedly in talks for the film’s female lead.

Plot details for the film are still unknown, but according to Variety (who first reported the news), Lilly could play the daughter of Lang and Pym’s love interest.

Ant-Man recently took the now-delayed Man of Steel sequel’s original date of July 17th, 2015. Are you looking forward to the film? Who would you like to see Lilly play? Sound out below!

Briefly: The wait for Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man and the start of Marvel’s Phase Three just shrunk again!

The film was originally scheduled to hit theatres on November 6th, 2015, but was moved up four months to July 31st, 2015 back in September. Now, since DC’s Man of Steel sequel has been pushed to 2016, Ant-Man has moved into the film’s July 17th release date.

Here’s the official announcement, straight from Marvel:

The wait for Marvel’s “Ant-Man” just got two weeks shorter!

Marvel’s “mite”-iest hero will now hit theaters July 17, 2015 courtesy of director Edgar Wright, two weeks earlier than the previously announced date of July 31.

Ant-Man fans have had quite a few reasons to rejoice lately, with the casting of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym as we get ready to start production on the highly-anticipated film later this year!

Are you looking forward to the film? How about the latest casting news? Sound out below!

Briefly: Just one day after winning the Golden Globe for his performance in Behind the Candelabra, Michael Douglas has been cast in a big role in an upcoming Marvel film.

The actor will portray Hank Pym in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stated that “With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves. We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.”

This means that we also know just which Ant-Man Paul Rudd will be playing in the film, Scott Lang.

What do you think of Douglas in the role? Is there another actor you’d have preferred? Sound out below!

Briefly: We learned only yesterday that Paul Rudd had entered negotiations with Marvel to play Ant-Man in the upcoming Edgar Wright film.

Now, Marvel has officially announced that Rudd has signed on for the film.

In a post of Marvel.com, producer Kevin Feige stated that “When Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star. We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we’d ever met with about doing the work, we knew we’d found the right guy. We couldn’t be more excited for our audiences to see what he’s going to do to bring Ant-Man to life.”

Ant-Man hits theatres on July 31st, 2015. Do you think that Rudd is the right choice for the part? Or would you rather have seen another actor in the role? Sound out below!

Briefly: Edgar Wright may have found his Hank Pym.

Back in October it was rumoured that both Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd were on the short list to play the character in Wright’s next film, Ant-Man.

Now that JGL has moved on to Sandman, it seems as though Marvel has shifted its focus towards Rudd, who The Wrap today confirmed has landed the role and is now in early negotiations with the studio.

We’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date on the situation, as well as let you know when the official announcement is made. Are you looking forward to the film? Are you happy with the casting? Sound out below!

Briefly: Earlier this month, Ant-Man director Edgar Wright tweeted a behind-the-scenes costume test for the anticipated film. Today, the world learned just who’s on Marvel’s short list to star.

And this guy:

Yep, that’s Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Variety states that another potential actor could emerge before negotiations are finished, but that it’s unlikely at this point.

Who would you rather see in the role? I have to cast my vote on Gordon-Levitt, as I’ve been a major fan of his for years, but that’s just me. Sound out below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to Ant-Man! The film hits theatres on July 31st, 2015!

Briefly: Ant-Man doesn’t even have a cast yet (as far as we know), and the film isn’t due in theatres for another two years, but that hasn’t stopped director Edgar Wright from tweeting a new behind-the-scenes photo from the project.

It’s probably just a VFX test, but what if it’s not? Could it be an end-tag for an upcoming Phase Two film?

Take a look at the photo below, and let us know what you think! Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man kicks-off Marvel’s Phase Three on July 31st, 2015!

Briefly: One of 2015’s most anticipated movies just got a new release date!

That’s right! Marvel’s Phase Three kickoff, Ant-Man, has just been brought forward. The film was initially scheduled for November 6th, 2015, and is now slated for July 31st.

This move puts the launch of Edgar Wright’s next film just two weeks after the yet untitled Batman / Superman film, though it does move it further away from Bond 25.

Sure, it’s still two years away, but how much are you looking forward to Ant-Man?

Marvel Studios has had a Black Panther movie in the works for quite some time and it now looks like there’s a chance that they may be finally moving forward with bringing the character to the big screen. Actor Morris Chestnut posted an image to his Facebook earlier today as well as the following tweet:

3003_469668643106629_967347835_n

Could this be an indication that Marvel Studios is looking at actors to play the character? Or could the actor just be brushing up on his reading?

There was quite a bit of buzz when it was rumored that Marvel was planning on doing a live-action adaptation of Planet Hulk as part of their “Phase Three” plans. It now appears according to Bruce Banner himself, actor Mark Ruffalo, that Marvel currently has no plans at the moment for a stand alone Hulk film. Ruffalo tweeted:

Hulk-The-Avengers-movie-image

While this doesn’t mean that there’s no chance of ever seeing a Planet Hulk film, it definitely does put the possibility of it being a part of Marvel’s “Phase Three” plans further in doubt. There’s definitely a chance that Marvel could indeed have someone working on a Planet Hulk script as an option that they could pursue, but it doesn’t necessarily mean we will ever see it. We’re just going to have to wait until 2015 to see what Marvel has in store for the future of the green behemoth.

Both Ant-Man and Doctor Stange have been two projects that Marvel Studios has talked about but never confirmed. That was until at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con when Marvel announced finally announced Ant-Man was happening. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has now spoken about Marvel Studios “Phase 3” and stated that the character will be a major part of it.

ant-man-movie-logo

“Ant-Man’ is definitely part of Phase Three. Like ‘Iron Man 3,’ it’s certainly set in the Marvel Universe.”

Fiege also went on to state that Marvel’s next phase will be quite different from what they’re telling currently.

“So much of what we’re telling right now is about the core ‘Avengers’ characters we’ve now met, and they’ll be evolving in big, surprising ways, in Cap’s next movie and Thor’s next movie and of course in ‘Iron Man 3,’ as we get them all into the next ‘Avengers’ film. Beyond that ‘Ant-Man’ is the only one officially announced.”

Fiege then went on to confirm that Dr. Strange is DEFINITELY a part of Phase Three.

“‘Doctor Strange,’ which I’ve been talking about for years, is definitely one of them. He’s a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he’s totally different from anything else we have, just like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ He’s totally different from anything we’ve done before, as is ‘Ant-Man,’ which keeps us excited.”

Marvel Studios “Phase Two” hasn’t even officially started but the excitement is already building for the next phase. Could the next step for Marvel be an all-new cast of characters versus sequels? Well, hopefully we get at least a Guardians Of The Galaxy sequel.

Many fans have been wondering when the next time we would see the Green Goliath on the big screen after his standout appearance in The Avengers.  The head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige recently spoke about the plans for a Hulk movie after the sequel to The Avengers sequel and that ‘World War Hulk’ as well as ‘Planet Hulk’ are definitely possibilities.

Feige spoke on the topic of the two stories being adapted:

“‘Planet Hulk’ is a cool story. ‘World War Hulk’ is a cool story. I think there’s pitfalls of continuity-overload, and mythology getting so dense that it almost collapses in on itself. It happens every few decades or so in the comics. Apart from that, I’d say everything is on the table.”

But Feige did state it’d be quite some time before we saw the Hulk in a solo film again:

“Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in ‘Avengers’? I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could. We certainly are not even going to attempt that until ‘Avengers 2.’ So there’s a lot of time to think about it.”

Out of the two stories I think that ‘Planet Hulk’ would be easier to adapt into a solo film than ‘World War Hulk’. Are either of these stories that you would want to see on the big screen or do you have a personal Hulk storyline that you’d like to see brought to life? They did establish The Leader in The Incredible Hulk and I personally would enjoy seeing them pursue that option but can understand them going another route.

For quite some time now it’s been well known that Marvel Studios has wanted to make a Doctor Strange movie. They even have a completed script by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer that was sent out to directors over a year ago. Well, this rumor seemed to slip past a few people. It seems that The Playlist recorded a podcast a while back that mentioned that they might know something about a sorcerer surpreme’s appearance in Thor: The Dark World. The most interesting part of this? It’s more than just a cameo. Screenrant broke it down like this:

The Playlist claimed that Natalie Portman’s character Jane Foster could be working alongside Dr. Strange in a similar capacity as she did with Stellan Skarsgård’s Dr. Erik Selvig in the first film, and that Strange would be playing a big part in “all three acts” of the film, as opposed to being relegated to a cameo-type introduction. He would play a scientist (he’s a genius neurosurgeon in the comics) and someone who’s deeply interested in Foster’s stories and knowledge about Asgard and Thor.

Actually, I lied about something. The most interesting part of this was the rumor of who Marvel Studios apparently wanted Joel Edgerton (Warrior) as their Doctor Strange. The key word being “wanted”. They may have moved on and found another actor at this point if this turns out to be true. And apparently there’s quite a few bits and pieces to this rumor that could lead to it being true. The same source apparently leaked out the information about The Falcon appearing Captain America: The Winter Soldier prior to Anthony Mackie’s casting. Let’s also not forget the Orb Of Agamatto that appeared in Odin’s vault in Thor.

The Agamatto objects are the source of Strange’s supernatural powers, and according to The Playlist’s information, one of those objects could come crashing down on earth – thus explaining Strange’s cinematic origins. Is Marvel planning on introducing their “Phase Three” characters early? Well, that’d be a smart decision and so far Marvel Studios definitely has a track record of making smart decisions with their movies. So, what are your guys thoughts on this one?
