Briefly: Captain America: The Winter Soldier is less than a month away from Blu-Ray, and Marvel has just officially debuted two deleted scenes from the release.

Cap 2 was a great watch when it hit theatres back in April, and I’m really looking forward to checking it out again. The Blu-Ray will hit stores on September 9th, and will include, Making-of Featurettes, Audio Commentary, Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes, Bloopers, And More…

Take a look at the scenes below, and let us know what you think!

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds Steve Rogers – aka Captain America – living quietly in Washington, DC, and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy – the Winter Soldier.

Briefly: Sure, the Transformers: Age of Extinction IMAX poster was pretty cool, but the just released IMAX one-sheet for Captain America: The Winter Soldier is freaking gorgeous.

Take a look at the poster below, and if you missed it, watch the first 10 minutes of the movie here. Excited? You should be! Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theatres on April 4th!

Briefly: We’ve seen him in the trailers, but Marvel has just launched a brand-new featurette for Captain America: The Winter Soldier that lets Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson / The Falcon take centre stage.

The film (finally) launches on April 4th, and from every piece of promotion we’ve seen so far, it looks insanely entertaining. The Winter Soldier is probably the phase three film that I’m most looking forward to.

You can take a look at the featurette below, and be sure to let us know what you hope to see in the full film. Just a few more weeks of waiting to go!

Briefly: Well, the Super Bowl is over. The game was miserable (well, for Broncos fans at least), but the commercials, trailers, and TV spots were great.

During the game, Marvel debuted a brand-new TV spot for the film, and subsequently released an awesome new trailer online. This Winter Soldier-focussed preview may be one of the best Marvel trailers that I’ve seen in quite some time. Seriously, it’s awesome!

Take a look at both the spot and trailer below, and let us know how much you’re looking forward to the film. Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theatres on April 4th!

Alongside the confirmation that Frank Grillo will portray the villainous Crossbones, Variety has also revealed that we will see another addition to the growing cast of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Samuel Jackson and Scarlett Johansson will be both be reprising their roles in the sequel with S.H.I.E.L.D. playing a major role in the film. So, this should come as no surprise that Cobie Smulders will be back as Agent Maria Hill. Her role in the sequel will most likely be minor.

Lat Frank Grillo, who you may know best from Warrior, The Grey and End Of Watch, tweeted about a meeting that the actor has with Marvel Studios for a role in the upcoming highly anticipated Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This led to speculation that the actor would be playing the role of the villain Crossbones in the upcoming sequel. Well, exciting news has just hit because that speculation has turned out to be true. Variety has confirmed that the actor will indeed be portraying Crossbones on the big screen.

This is definitely exciting news and Grillo is an awesome choice for the role. Our anticipation levels just went up a bit over here at Geekscape.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters April 4, 2104.

Not long ago a shortlist made it’s way online for the contenders for the female lead in Marvel Studios highly-anticipated Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The names on this list consisted of Emilia Clarke, Jessica Brown Findlay, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, and Alison Brie. Well, according to the Daily Express, Brown-Findlay is the “front-runner” for the female lead in the sequel. Many believe this role will be that of Sharon Carter.

Weeks after that shortlist was revealed, sources reported that Marvel and duo-directors Joe and Anthony Russo had been considering Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Since then though the rumor has been debunked by the actress. With shooting set to begin in a few months…we should expect to finally get some details soon regarding this role as well as casting.

Frank Grillo (Warrior, End Of Watch) may just be the next addition to what’s shaping up to be a great cast for Marvel Studios Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The actor tweeted earlier that he just recently met with the studio for what sounds like a fairly important role in the highly anticipated sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger.

So, just what role is Grillo up for? Well, according to radio host and comedian Matthew Aaron, Grillo revealed that he’d met with Marvel Studios and the actor is set to play Crossbones in the sequel. And if you didn’t read the comic version of the story, trust me when I tell you he is very important to is.

So, is the actor really up for the role? Well, I’m pretty sure Grillo’s response says it all.

Well, this is definitely a busy and exciting news day for Marvel Studios. Grillo is an awesome actor and I can’t wait to see if they pick him for the role. And based on the response on Twitter…it’s not just me. We’ll be sure to keep you guys updated as soon as anything official is announced.

The guys over at Latino Review, who tend to have a pretty good track record when it comes to inside info on Marvel Studios films, have revealed some new casting updates for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The site has revealed that despite the sequel’s female lead shortlist including Emilia Clarke, Jessica Brown Findlay, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, and Alison Brie, Marvel has “the most traction with” actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World).

Additionally, the site reveals that there are apparently two undisclosed male roles that duo directors Joe and Anthony Russo are in the process of casting. One role being American and one being foreign, with both being described as “physical”, these roles could possibly be villain roles, Baron Zemo has been long rumored to appear in the sequel. So, who is on the short list for these roles? The first two are Nikolaj Coster Waldau (Game Of Thrones) and Josh Holloway (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol).

While those two are expected to be screen-tested, the site also goes on to reveal that Kevin Durand (Resident Evil: Retribution) may also be considered, even though that possibility is “more clinging to edge of it from the sound of things”. I’d love to see Kevin Durand in more movies, that’s for sure. But what about you guys?

With shooting set to begin in a few months, Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo have a short list of five actresses to play the major “love interest” role in the highly anticipated sequel. The role has yet to be revealed but it’s safe to assume based on Cap’s history that these actresses are in the running to play Sharon Carter.

The list is comprises of Emilia Clarke (Game Of Thrones), Jessica Brown Findlay (Albatross), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Imogen Poots (Fright Night)
and Alison Brie (Mad Men). There is no mention of Anna Kendrick (End Of Watch) or Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) who had previously been mentioned to be in the running. Kendrick at one point was even said to be the front runner for the role.

Additionally it has also been confirmed that Scarlett Johansson will be reprising her role as Black Widow in the film. Black Widow has been romantically involved with Winter Soldier in the comics but it’s unknown currently if we will see that in the film.

Producton is underway on both Marvel Studios Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, we should expect an Iron Man 3 trailer very soon and we’ve begun to see the return of Chris Hemsworth as the Asgardian god via set photos.  So, what’s next on Marvels schedule? Well, none other than the return of Steve Rogers in the definitely highly anticipated Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Chris Evans recently revealed to Collider when the film would begin shooting:

That gives this film around a 13-month production timeline which is the same amount of time that Captain America: The First Avenger had and should definitely not give the directing team of the Russo Brothers any trouble hitting that April 4th released date. We should also definitely expect to see some footage at next year’s San Diego Comic Con so better get ready for Hall H early. If you’re like me…”phase two” definitely can’t come fast enough.

Early last week a deleted scene was released online from The Avengers that revealed that Peggy Carter, played by actress Hayley Atwell, was indeed still alive in the present. Bleeding Cool recently approached Atwell at the premiere of her new film, The Sweeney. The site asked if she would be involved in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier to which the actress replied:

“I can’t say yet because it hasn’t been officially released, and Marvel are very protective of their franchise.”

Which basically just translates into “Yes, I am coming back but I am not allowed to tell you guys yet.” While her involvement could just take place in flashbacks there is definitely a chance we could see a heavily emotional scene involving Steve Rogers visiting her in the present day. This would definitely add on to the “man out of time” theme that is meant to be portrayed in the upcoming sequel and maybe Steve will finally get that dance after all these years.

Marvel Studios is currently searching for a female lead in the upcoming sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger. The New York Daily News is reporting that Marvel is looking at Anna Kendrick (50/50), Imogen Poots (Fright Night) and Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) for the female lead in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

So, what role will they filling? That is currently unknown but many are speculating that it could be S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sharon Carter, the niece of Peggy Carter, who we saw played by Hayley Atwell in the first movie. Take this with a grain of salt though right now because as stated it is just speculation at the moment. All three are great choices but I have to lean towards either Anna Kendrick or Felicity Jones myself with Jones being my top choice after seeing her performance in Like Crazy. So, who would you want to see?

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to hit theaters April 4th, 2014.

One of the most anticipated movies in Marvel’s “Phase Two” is Captain America: The Winter Soldier. When announced at San Diego Comic-Con fans nearly lost it. Hell..even Ed Brubaker lost it and even tweeted “HOLY SHIT” when he found out about it. The Huffington Post recently sat down with Anthony Russo, one half of the directing team behind the sequel, and had a little chat about the movie. Below are some of the highlights of the interview.

When asked what they thought landed them such a big project:

Well, first of all, Marvel’s this incredible company that has shown in the past that they think outside the box with directors. I mean, it’s shocking the people they’ve hired, over and over again, and they’ve had great success as a result. They like character, and they like storytelling and they like fun. We were surprised, but they were big fans of “Community” and you can sort of draw a line between some things we did on “Community” and a Marvel movie.

How they sold themselves to get the job directing the sequel:

We were comic book geeks from a young age and big fantasy geeks. We got to talk to them in detail about that history. They knew that we understood the brand really well and the characters really well. It was a long process, actually, of talking to them over and over again, through a series of meetings over a long period of time. And I think they just — we were really passionate about the movie, incredibly passionate about the movie. They felt that, and they felt like it was the right match.

In regards to what appealed to them about Ed Brubaker’s “Winter Soldier” story:

Well, we like the [story.] I can’t talk too much about specifics, that’s the way Marvel handles things. I can say in general that there’s sort of a darker, edgier sensibility at work there that we found appealing, and that is going find its way into Captain [America] in the modern day.

When asked if we would possibly be seeing World War II flashbacks:

Certainly Cap has this complicated history. We’re making the movie for first-time viewers, not just for fans, so, because Cap does have this complicated history — he was this skinny guy who became a super-soldier, he was born back then and he’s living [now] — in the storytelling, you need to convey that to an audience who doesn’t know Cap’s story.

When asked if the expected heavy visual effects were intimidating to them:

They said to us early on in the interview process, “We don’t expect you to know anything [about special effects and so forth] — you don’t have to know everything about this stuff, because we’re here for that.” They’re very respectful of directors. They’re an amazing company to work with.

In regards to if any of the comic creators were involved and have offered advice:

We’re actually going to have lunch with Brubaker soon. But no, they haven’t been involved. In the same way that they would develop a new comic-book series, they give its own space to develop. But certainly everybody is aware [of what’s in the comics], has read everything, is aware of all their other material. But they do like each thing to be its own, organic process, which is nice.

I start this episode off telling all of you to go pick up “The FP” this week! Also, “Adventure Time” Season 1 is coming to DVD in July! Fantastic! Falling Skies has returned to TV and why should you be watching it? Is “Before Watchmen” turning itself around? Ed Brubaker’s got your Captain America fix! I review Pixar’s “Brave” and it’s fantastic! And Geekscape favorite BigYanks gets married… finally! But what do we get him?
