Briefly: The first major AAA delay of 2016… has become the first AAA cancellation of 2017.

Rumours ran rampant this morning, with multiple sources quoting that Platinum Games’ and Microsoft had parted ways, with Scalebound left in major trouble, and potentially even cancelled.

Just moments ago, Microsoft confirmed to IGN that Scalebound will indeed never be released. Here’s the quote from Microsoft:

“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.”

Josh Jackson noted some extreme excitement for the title after its gameplay footage debut, and I have to say that it’s damned disappointing that this promising-looking title will never see the light of day.

Were you looking forward to the title? Be sure to sound out in the comments below.

Briefly: Well this didn’t take long.

After being announced and touted as an Xbox console exclusive, developer Playdead has revealed that their critically acclaimed Limbo follow-up, Inside, is making its way over to PS4.

The announcement comes via an accolades trailer on the official Playstation YouTube channel, which concludes with the reveal that Inside will launch on the console on August 23rd.

We can’t freaking wait.

Take a look at that accolades trailer below and remind yourself of just how phenomenal this game is, and let us know if you’re excited to play!

Briefly: Well, we made it three whole days into 2016 without a major delay. That’s a pretty good run, isn’t it?

It wasn’t meant to last, however, as Platinum Games’ highly anticipated Xbox One exclusive, Scalebound, will not make its Holiday 2016 debut.

The developer noted the delay this morning on their official blog, stating that “In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017. This will give us the time needed to bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned.”

Scalebound looks fantastic, and we fell in love with the title back at GamesCom last year. While we’re certainly sad that we won’t be playing the title later this year, we appreciate that the game never had a solid release date to break (just a launch window), and that it was delayed with nearly a year left until it was set to launch.

In any case, we’ll be busy this year playing all of those games that were supposed to come out in 2015, am I right?

Are you sad to hear about the delay? How excited are you for Scalebound‘s eventual release? Sound out in the comments below!

It’s finally Tuesday, which mean’s that it’s Nintendo’s turn to take the digital stage, and announce their myriad of games, Amiibos, and experiences for the upcoming year.

Will we hear about their first mobile game? How many new Amiibo will we see? Will the NX be revealed (probably not), tune in at 9am PST to find out!

Ubisoft’s 2014 press conference is live at 3:00pm, and we’re here at E3 to tell you everything the company has coming.

We’ll be seeing more from their (sadly delayed) shooter, The Division, a buttload of Assassin’s Creed, and probably something about a new Watch Dogs, but what else could Ubi talk about? Will they finally released some Beyond Good and Evil 2 details? Is another Rayman coming down the pipeline? Whatever happened to the Rabbids?

Read on, find out, and be sure to let us know what you think!

E3 is nearly here, and Bethesda is kicking the party off a little early. We know we’ll be (aww yiss) seeing more of Fallout 4 and Dishonored 2 (probably), but what else could Bethesda have in store for us?

And do we even care what else they have in store for us? Fallout 4, baby!

Juan is live on the ground at the Dolby theatre, so follow below for our liveblog of the anticipated event (and the stream), and be sure to let us know what you’re excited to see!

Bethesda is set to get the ball rolling at 7PM!

As one of the many Amiibo related announcements during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, Yoshi’s Wooly World will be one of many Nintendo titles to gain support for the money draining figure craze. Except, as with the game’s visuals, these upcoming Yoshi toys take on a unique look.

Arriving alongside the game in September, the Yarn Yoshi’s come in pink, light blue, and his trademark green. Scanning them adds a second CPU controlled player to help us get through tough spots and reach hidden areas. Although, even if they didn’t do a thing in the game, I’m sure I’m not the only one who would rush out and buy them anyway, if for no other reason than because they’re so darn cute. The question is, do you buy all three? Oh wait, that’s not a real question, of course you do.

The game itself is looking to carry the spirit of the classic Yoshi’s Island titles, (ignoring the latest one, I hope,) with plenty of colorful environments, creative platforming challenges and tons of hidden items to discover in this yarn based world. If the game is too tough, (has a Yoshi game ever been?), an easier difficulty with permanent winged Yoshi is also available. Hopefully this means that Wooly World will offer up a decent challenge, rather than shoehorning the easier option in just to follow most of Nintendo’s other first party software. Either way, we loved what we played at E3 last year, so if the trend continues, Wooly World should be a welcomed addition to a growing Wii U library.

Yoshi

Is Yoshi’s latest adventure on your radar? Let us know!

First of all, let me start by saying that much of the criticism that is being reported surrounding The Order: 1886 is overblown. It’s not as short as is being reported, if there was a graphics downgrade, I couldn’t see it, and the admittedly large amount of cutscenes never come close to the dreaded level of the Metal Gear Solid or Xenosaga series. Besides, the rest of the internet has been voicing these concerns nearly a week now.

Second, this isn’t a traditional review. If you care at all about the buzz surrounding this game, you’re likely going to scroll straight down in search of a score, and decide that I either had a vindictive grudge against Sony, that I was parroting the crowd by sharing my disappointment with the game, or that I’m solidifying the fact that the title is just not that good. Instead, I’m focusing on the numerous issues throughout the campaign that most people AREN’T talking about. If only game length was the biggest letdown during my trek through this reimagined England.

And third, there are minor spoilers contained within this critique. If you haven’t played it and care about the story, turn back now! From this point on, you’re stepping into the danger zone.

If you follow gaming and have been on the Internet AT ALL over the past week, then you’ve probably heard more than you need to about The Order: 1886. Originally revealed during the PS4’s unveiling at E3 2013, February 20th was supposed to be the day that the PS4 received its first exclusive since Driveclub, (remember how that went?), and arguably the first AAA exclusive since InFamous: Second Son. Instead, the game has been panned for its alleged five hour length, almost have of which is speant watching rather than shooting Lycans like we were originally promised.

Now, I’d be lying if I said that I was particularly excited for the title. I’ve been cautious of the Sony PR machine ever since the now infamous PS3 reveal and the Killzone 2 trailer, made worse by the fact that nearly every major company seems to have jumped on the bandwagon of overpromising and underdelivering. Still, the concept of a reimagined 19th Century England where an elite team of soldiers hunt supernatural monsters with some highly creative weaponry seemed like something I should check out at some point. This curiosity was further peaqued when I found a used copy the day after release date. With a seven day return policy and nothing to lose, my worries quickly become justified. I’ve shared my thoughts on game length in the past, (which can be found here,) so I won’t talk about it too much here, but the laundry list of what The Order does wrong deserves equal attention for the gamer who’s on the fence.

First off, I want to turn this into a positivity sandwich, beginning and ending with something good, with the meaty bad parts in the middle. The most apparent positive, (and seemingly the focus of development), is the presentation, with some incredible visuals, smoke effects when shooting, and facial animations leading the charge. Accompanied with some brilliant costume design, architecture and voice acting, it really helps make the game spring to life, as if you were watching a movie. Sadly, this is just about the only thing The Order gets right, with a slew of questionable design choices, large gaps between game play sections and too many broken promises. So without further ado…

The run of the mill third person gameplay.

Taking its inspiration from titles like Uncharted 2 and Gears Of War, The Order is primarily a third person cover shooter when it’s not doing its best Heavy Rain impersonation. The initial trailers showed the Knights of the Order fighting off monsters with electric rail guns, but sadly, you only do this for a miniscule amount of time in the game, (but more on that in a little bit.) Instead, the large majority of the shooting sections are against regular ol’ people. Throughout the entire game, I counted a total of four human enemy types, generously counting the standard soldiers, armored soldiers, snipers and grenaders as separate units. Sure, the costumes change, but the gameplay doesn’t.

As if to remedy the long gaps between shooting sections, (the longest one being about 35 minutes on my count,) some of these gunfights take the form of insanely long waves of bullet sponge enemies, none of which have checkpoints in between. I even had a few guys continue to charge at me with a bloody forehead after surviving a direct head shot, which I’m assuming was just a weird glitch. Then again, I don’t hold the resilient enemies against the game too much since I was playing on Hard Mode.

While it’s definitely true that the often quoted five hour play time is a gross misrepresentation of the average run, my nine hour hard mode run would have been easily cut to about seven on normal, without trophy hunting, or with decent checkpoints, especially when your partners rarely lift a finger to help. This is what’s most disappointing, turning a promising concept into a status quo shooter that doesn’t try to be better than what the genre has offered for the last decade. But again, it wouldn’t be so bad if we weren’t promised so much.

The lack of science weapons.

Remember those bad-ass sci-fi weapons from the trailers? Appropriately named “Science Weapons”, these guns include said electric rail gun mentioned above, as well as an amazingly creative flame rifle that shoots a flammable powder before launching a fireball into it, engulfing the entire area. And well… That’s it! Two whole science weapons, both of which rarely pop up in the campaign. I’m completely serious when I say that I got roughly 30-40 minutes of in game time with these guns, whereas the rest of the story was full of never before seen weapons such as the elusive pistol, shotgun, grenade and rifle. Maybe they’re saving them for the sequel?

The lack of Lycans.

But the biggest disappointment that 1886 presents is its troubling lack of Lycans. You know, those werewolves that the game was initially sold on? Well, I would try to explain the sad amount of the flagship enemies within the game with a well thought out paragraph, but why do that when I can let the game’s OWN IN GAME TROPHY describe it for me?

THE HUNTER: Kill 10 Lycans

Yup, 10 WHOLE LYCANS for the entire game. The sad part? I counted eight, (ten including bosses.) Compared to the hundreds of humans that oppose you, how was this game ever presented the way it was initially? It doesn’t help that not only are they poorly placed in the story, (one, then two in Chapter One’s lycan tutorial, two towards the end and three in the last stage,) and that their AI is completely braindead. They literally run away from you, run at you, lunge, (which can be easily dodged by tapping X,) then run away again. The only other attack that they have only triggers if you’re standing right next to them, but you would practically have to go out of your way to do so.

Jumping on grenades.

Speaking of pressing X to dodge, the same can be done when you’re near a grenade. It’s a good thing the armor forged in 1886 is much more durable than the armor of today, because as long as you’re in your dodge animation, you don’t take damage from it, even if you roll right on top of it when it explodes.

The boss fight(s).

One complaint I constantly have with most modern games is that the boss fight has seemingly disappeared. Thankfully, I can’t issue this complaint towards The Order, since it features not one, but two whole boss battles in the middle and the end of the game. So why is this in the meaty portion of our sandwich under negatives? Because the final boss and the mid boss are the Exact. Same. Fight. Same attacks, same animations, same character model, (despite being different characters,) same everything.

Essentially combining a long series of quick time events with the mechanics of Punch Out, the entire thing consists of dodging and responding with a quick or heavy attack, neither of which had any strategic difference from what I could see. Fairly exciting the first time, immensely disappointing the second time, I just don’t get why the team didn’t think the end game deserved more attention.

The stealth.

The good news? There are only two major stealth sections the entire game, the first acting as the tutorial and the second being separated from its introduction by about five hours. The bad news is that especially during the second one, it just doesn’t work. Mainly because your character carries his bowgun at the ready while he’s sneaking. Only problem is that he only stealth kills with his knife. With their unwavering commitment to realism at Ready At Dawn, I suffered many a death because I couldn’t initiate my stealth kill until my character put away his gun to grab his blade. With no manual way to do so, (or at least with no instruction on how to assuming the option exists,) the attack wouldn’t trigger and I’d eat a bullet, (in a cutscene, of course.)

Stealth

The collectables.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but as far as I can remember, games have universally had a way to track what kind of bonus items you’ve picked up, right? Especially when there are trophies tied to them, with most modern games providing status updates showing your progress. Ever the innovator, The Order felt the need to be different. Not only does it not keep track of what bonus items you’ve found aside from the audio cylinders, but your character doesn’t even keep them! He puts them back down where he finds them! Especially with the newspapers, the text is so small that it’s impossible to read! So you’re literally picking stuff up and putting it back down.

To make matters worse, going back to find what you might have missed is a wild goose chase, since the game lacks a chapter breakdown of what collectables you’re missing and/or which chapters they’re missing in. All of them respawn on subsequent playthroughs, making it impossible to know what you missed and what you didn’t, and with the cutscenes being unskippable, it makes the hunt too tedious to be worth it. You’re better off with a guide so you don’t have to scour the entire game again.

The cliché, by the numbers story.

Yet, The Order isn’t the only game that favors a cinematic experience over strong game play. But if you’re going to take that route, at least make the story good. Instead, what 1886 presents us with is a cliché tale that relies on tropes rather than unique scenarios. The mentor who promises to enlighten you about the true nature of the world after the battle is over, only to die before he says anything? Yep, he’s there. The friend who double crosses you almost immediately declaring that your character, “trusts him with his life,”? Present. The perceived villain who’s really the hero? You get the picture. You can guess most of these character’s roles as soon as you hear them speak during some long, drawn out cutscenes, making most of the characters uninteresting and forgettable. It doesn’t help that only a few of them have any kind of backstory, and the ones that do are just vaguely touched on.

Worse yet is the walking. Oh god, the walking! Oftentimes, to give us breaks between full motion videos, we’ll get to “play” by manually walking through long hallways or corridors while the team members converse. Your option to run is taken away, so you’re just forced to plod through while staring at these mundane walls, wishing that this would’ve just been sped through a video.

So. Much. Walking.
So. Much. Walking.

But more importantly, the game completely fails to adequately explain the lore of this universe. It hints at things here and there, but in almost arrogant fashion, it feels like The Order is far more interested in setting up sequels than it is in establishing the current game. We know that Lycans and Vampires exist. Nikolai Tesla is to you what Q is to 007 for some reason. Your order of knights have been alive for centuries, apparently? The fact that there’s a story reason for why you can revive yourself and auto heal behind cover, but it’s not explained until past the half way point, shows that establishing the rules of this world came second to getting through the contained narrative of this particular game, which makes it come off as if we’re expected to know what’s going on before we start playing it. When the credits roll, we’re left with more questions than answers, with an apparent setup for a second AND third game before the first one felt anywhere near established.

But hey, at least it doesn’t have a 100 GB day one patch!

Have you played The Order? We’d love to hear your thoughts, where you agree, and where you disagree. Let us know in the comments, and hit me up @InuJoshua and let’s talk about it!

Briefly: I’ve been stoked for this one since its announcement, and checking out the first 25 minutes of the game certainly doesn’t help the long, long wait until it releases tomorrow.

It’s The Order: 1886 of course, the new IP from the folks over at Ready at Dawn, and it’s the PS4’s latest breathtaking exclusive. The game “introduces players to a unique vision of Victorian-Era London where Man uses advanced technology to battle a powerful and ancient foe.  As Galahad, a member of an elite order of Knights, join a centuries-old war against a powerful threat that will determine the course of history forever in this intense third-person action-adventure shooter.”

The Order: 1886 is said to be heavily story-driven, and as this is a worth that I’m extremely interested in learning about, I really can’t wait to get my hands on it. Take a look at the first 25 minutes below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this one up!

After so many years and completely missing out on the core version of the latest Monster Hunter title, the recently announced release date of February 13th can’t come soon enough. To help hold us over, Capcom released a demo that gives us a taste of how we can expect to spend the next couple years of our lives, complete with the full weapon set and three new monsters to hunt. We took the time to check out what new features this brief download has to offer, which surprised us enough to keep even veteran hunters on their toes.

In an attempt to cater to both new and old hunters alike, this preview offers both beginner and expert levels of difficulties, in addition to in-game tutorials to explain the pros and cons of the weapon you choose. Every weapon is accounted for, including the new Insect Staff and Charge Blade, giving pros a chance to get accustomed to these new tools before the serious adventures begin. Yet, with the Great Jaggi, Tetsucabra, and Gore Magala on the prowl, they serve as all the practice you need if you hope to survive the dangers of the wild.

MH4U_TGS14_01
Starting with the Charge Blade, this weapon will feel familiar to anyone who used the Switch Axe in the past. Taking two forms, its standard stance is the sword and shield, building up energy with each successful attack. When the blade is fully charged, attaching the shield to the sword turns it into a powerful axe, releasing all of the built up power into a series of crushing blows. If you’re feeling a little more crafty, the Insect Staff feels like a more offense focused version of the Hunting Horn. While the double sided blade does a fair share of damage on its own, its true strength lies with its ability to send a pet insect flying at enemy monsters, absorbing status boosting effects on contact. With the ability to drain attack strength, defensive boosts, replenish stamina and restore health, this weapon has a level of versatility that most others lack, making it one to watch as the hunts get tougher.

That’s not to suggest that the demo hunts aren’t tough, especially when it comes to fighting Gore Magala. This destructive beast shoots and guards itself with a stamina draining black mist that forces players to strike carefully. But in my playthroughs, no matter how many times I broke its wings, its head or cut off its tail, this resilient opponent just wouldn’t die within the time limit, while making sure to knock out a couple of my lives in the process. It wasn’t until I took advantage of the climbing, jumping and air attack features that I was finally able to claim victory. By stalking prey from above, MH4 introduces the ability to land powerful strikes from the skies. Once weak enough, the best course of action is often to either climb, or jump on the monster’s back, and hack away as if your life depended on it. Adding a new level of depth and unpredictability to the tried and true formula, pulling these moves off managed to surprise even an old vet like me. But if that still doesn’t work, you can always hop online or get some friends together to take it on as a team!

Finally being able to get a taste of the fourth game has left me wanting so much more. The more dynamic fights, new weapons and tough as nails monsters keep us coming back for more, with enough familiarity to make our playtime feel right at home. Keep your eyes peeled for our full review as we get some time with the final release, and let us know what features you’re most looking forward to!

Briefly: Josh went hands on with the gorgeous-looking Kirby and the Rainbow Curse back at E3 in June. The game acts as a successor to early DS title Kirby’s Canvas Curse, but with a new (and charming) art style, a ton of new gameplay elements, and its all coming to us on a home console instead of a handheld.

A new Japanese overview trailer has just been released for the title, and while I obviously don’t understand a word of it, it does show off which Amiibo will be compatible with the anticipated sequel. You won’t have a huge number of figures to utilize here, but the game is compatible with Kirby, Meta Knight, and King Dedede. Each figure unlocks a special power-up that can be used once per day.

You can take a look at the overview trailer, which shows off some new new gameplay features, below, and be sure to let us know what you think! As for Amiibo, are you still hunting? Will you be picking up Meta Knight and Dedede? Sound out below!

Briefly: My time with Bungie’s Destiny has come and gone, but based on the just-released launch trailer for next week’s expansion, The Dark Below, I could definitely see myself headed back to the moon for a few more (dozen) hours.

Bungie has been extremely active in patching, evolving, and fixing the myriad of issues that frequent players had been having, and from what I’ve heard (again, it’s been awhile since I’ve played) the game has come a long way. The game’s first expansion, The Dark Below will add new weapons, armor, and gear, as well as an increased light level cap. Of course, it’ll also feature new story missions, three new PvP Crucible arenas, and new co-op challenges, including a new Strike and brand-new six-player Raid.

Sounds like a good chunk of content, doesn’t it? The expansion will launch on December 9th for a cool $20. Check out the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this one up!

Briefly: If you haven’t yet jumped into Bungie and Activision’s Destiny, you now have one less excuse not to play it: The publisher has just detailed a trial version of what may be this year’s most addictive shooter (which still has a ton of issues which we totally go into on Geekscape Games… yep, shameless plug).

The free version (which is called a trial on PS4/Xbox One and demo on PS3/Xbox 360) is available today, and Bungie has answered any questions that players may have (mostly regarding character progression) via their latest blog post:

When I’m ready to buy the full game, will my character progression be transferred?
Yes, assuming you purchase the full retail copy of Destiny on the same console platform family you played the Destiny Trial or Demo on. For example, you may not transfer your progress from the Destiny Demo on Xbox 360 to the full retail version of Destiny on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 3.

Progress is always shared automatically within the same console family on the Destiny servers. No action on your part is required.

How do I upgrade to the full game?
The Destiny Trial on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One can be upgraded via the in game menu. You will not be required to download the full retail game or purchase a disc.

To get the full version of Destiny on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, purchase Destiny from your local retailer, the Xbox Store, or the Playstation Store. Once you have launched the full version of Destiny, and confirmed that your existing character progression can be selected, you may delete the Destiny Demo file, as you will no longer require it.

The demo/trial offers “a sampling of character creation and progression, story mission content, along with cooperative and social activities.” Not bad for free, and a great way for Activision to sell a ton of copies this holiday season. Will you be checking out the trial? Or are you already well versed in Destiny and it’s wonderful (hah) Grimoire?

http://youtu.be/9ZyQK6kUdWQ

Briefly: In just one more week you’ll finally be able to pick up Grand Theft Auto V… again.

Sure, you may have already played the game on your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, but after checking out the just-released launch trailer, you’re very likely going to want need to head back to Los Santos.

Rockstar says that “Grand Theft Auto V will take full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail. Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions all work together to bring new life to the cities, towns, deserts and oceans of Rockstar North’s epic reimagining of Southern California.”

It’ll include all the content that’s been released for the game so far, as Rockstar notes that “gameplay created since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online, including an extensive array of new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations will also be available for the PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One and PC with much more to come. In addition, the current community of players will have the ability to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC.”

We can’t wait. I never actually finished the PS3 version of the title, so it’ll be as good a reason as any for me to jump right back into it. Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this one up.

Briefly: Alien: Isolation is finally here, and we’re beyond happy to see that the game is just as terrifying as its marketing, and is receiving stellar reviews all over the place. Can we all just forget about Colonial Marines now?

Sega has just released the launch trailer for the title, which shows off some great moments that we haven’t seen yet, and also shows off some of the positive thoughts that the game has been receiving. The game looks scary as shit, and I can’t wait to play it… for a few minutes until I get too scared and have to turn it off.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up.

Briefly: Let the raiding begin.

While I’m not even close to being high enough level to give this a shot, Bungie has announced that Destiny’s first raid, the Vault of Glass, will open at 2AM Pacific time tonight. It sure sounds like a freaking blast. Here’s what the developer had to say about the event:

“Beneath Venus, evil stirs.”

The Director is light on details for the Raid in Destiny. This is by design. The most elaborate mission ever created by Bungie is a mystery as much as it is a challenge – a puzzle and a gauntlet. The race to see who can be first to solve it – with their cunning and their skill – is about to begin.

At 2:00 AM Pacific on Tuesday, September 16th, the Raid will accept challengers in Destiny. That’s 9:00 AM GMT.

Become Legend.
Not everyone will qualify. Among those who do, not everyone will succeed. To even approach this trial of teamwork and combat, the Guardians in your Fireteam will need to be Level 26.

Gear up. Team up.
Bring with you a team that has made the commitment to work together. Configure your loadouts so that you are powerful together in a variety of ways. Communicate with each other. The Raid will demand that you operate as a team. Cooperation is the key to your success.

Follow the Leader.
It’s very likely that you will not finish the Raid in one sitting. Your Fireteam leader is crucial to your eventual potential success. Your progress will be saved for one week. To resume your mission where you left off, you’ll need to follow the same Fireteam leader back into battle.

Enjoy the View.
There are those among you who are certain that they will be first. They have accepted our dare with a pledge to broadcast their first attempt. If you’re not yet prepared to undertake this rite of passage, you’re welcome to watch as they venture into the hostile unknown.

Do you think you and your friends can beat these intrepid raiding parties to the finish line? Bungie will be watching. And, we’ll celebrate the fastest Fireteam from the Tower.

Of course, once you have completed the Raid, we’ll invite you to try it on hard. That’s the true experience.

Be brave.

Sounds like quite the night(s). Don’t forget the MTD and Doritos, and when you’re finished playing, be sure to let us know your thoughts!

Briefly: Destiny is now available worldwide, and though I haven’t yet had the opportunity to spend much time in the world of Bungie’s latest space epic, I really can’t wait to fully explore and experience the vast world(s) that the game has to offer. I spent a ton of time with Destiny‘s alpha way back in the day, and I’ve been nothing but happy with the retail release thus far.

One of Destiny‘s best features is its phenomenal soundtrack. The game was composed by Marty O’Donnell, Mike Salvatori, and Paul McCartney, the latter actually creating a single specifically for the game’s release.

I hadn’t yet heard the track in my brief time in Old Russia, but YouTuber Kilo Juliett has been kind enough to put the track online. You can give it a listen for yourself below, and don’t forget to watch the game’s live-action trailer if you haven’t yet, and be sure to let us know what you’re thinking of Destiny so far!

Briefly: Kari went hands-on with Alien: Isolation at E3, and one of the biggest surprises of the experience was just how tense the game can be.

It also doesn’t stink, which is almost a surprise after last year’s horrendous Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Sega has just debuted a new trailer for the anticipated game, and it’s one that shows a rough end for Ripley. We’re genuinely excited for the title, and now that it’s gone gold, we’re beyond excited for its release.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know what you think. Alien: Isolation hits PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC on October 7th.

Briefly: Following the release of the official gameplay launch trailer two weeks back, and the reveal of the game’s Playstation exclusive content last week, Bungie has debuted a phenomenal live-action trailer for next week’s release.

I’ve been enamoured with Destiny for as long as I can remember, and that feeling was exacerbated by the short time that I’ve been able to spend with it. September 9th really, really can’t come soon enough. I played the Alpha and Beta as much as I possibly could, and in that time Destiny became one of my favourite games of the year. I cannot wait to play the full game, and I cannot wait to learn the full story through its bad-ass companion app (seriously, it’s so freaking well done).

It’s definitely my most anticipated title of the year, and I am going to spend way too much time on it. Just five more days to go!

Watch the amazing live-action trailer below, and let us know if you’re becoming legend on September 9th.

Briefly: Following the release of the official launch trailer two weeks back, and the reveal of the game’s Playstation exclusive content last week, Bungie and Playstation have debuted a new video that shows off the Playstation exclusive Strike mission, Dust Palace.

I cannot wait to play the full game, and I cannot wait to learn the full story through its bad-ass companion app (seriously, it’s so well done).

The PS3 and PS4 editions of the game include the exclusive Exodus Blue map, exclusive Dust Palace strike mission , and plenty of extra equipment. Wouldn’t it be nice if it had cross-platform play to go with it?

Briefly: Dead Island 2 surprised all of us when it was revealed at this year’s E3, and following the gameplay trailer from a few weeks back, Eurogamer has just published a fantastic interview/walkthrough with the game’s developer.

Here’s the story: Several months after the events on Banoi, the United States military has put the Golden State under full quarantine. Now a restricted zone, California has become a bloody paradise for those who refuse to leave their homes and an action-packed playground for renegades who seek adventure, glory and a fresh start. Combining the classic Dead Island elements of immersive close combat, action and role-playing, Dead Island 2 features crazy, never-before-seen handcrafted weapons and over-the-top characters in taking players from the iconic Golden Gate to the celebrated beachfront boardwalk of southern California’’s Venice Beach.

I’m really looking forward to playing this one, as I largely missed out on the first games in the series. In any case, Dead Island 2 looks exponentially more polished and should play much more smoothly than Dead Island or Riptide did.

Take a look at the interview below, and let us know what you think.

Briefly: After what seems like forever, and an incredible taste of the game in its Alpha and Beta stages, Destiny is nearly here.

It’s so close, in fact, that Bungie and Activision have debuted the impressive launch trailer for the game… which is going to make the next 18 days and even longer wait.

Seriously, I’ve been enamoured with Destiny for as long as I can remember, and that feeling was exacerbated by the short time that I’ve been able to spend with it. September 9th really, really can’t come soon enough.

Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know which console you’ll be playing Destiny on.

Briefly: Kari gave us a great preview of Bloodborne back at E3, and From Software was back with the anticipated title at this year’s Gamescom with some gorgeous (and extremely gory) new footage.

The game looks to share a lot of themes with From Software’s previous Demon’s/Dark Souls, but with an entirely different look and a lot of additional style.

As Kari mentioned back in June, the game’s enemies are “something to be truly feared. When you “face an enemy [you are] facing death” (Miyazaki). The euphoria of victory will be worth it after experiencing the “terror of spine tingling battles”(Miyazaki). Now, of course you will need to be equipped with weapons to face these horrific creatures head on. There will be trick weapons and firearms. During the demo, they stated that the game will have a unique online concept but they could not go into further detail.”

This year has seen a resurgence of the horror game genre, and Bloodborne looks like one of the most action-packed games coming down the pipeline. Take a look at the new footage below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Briefly: We’re now less than a month away from Destiny‘s anticipated launch (I’ve already taken the day off work), and today Bungie took us to Venus with the game’s newest trailer.

Bungie says that “Venus was once the site of a great discovery – a paradise. Now, it is a monument to all that we have lost.”

I was enthralled with the alpha, and had a blast with the beta for the day that I was able to play it (I had to leave for SDCC of course) and I cannot wait to get back inside this world. Take a look at the Venus trailer below (and the Mars trailer is embedded below if you missed it).

Will you become legend when Destiny hits on September 9th?

Briefly: Dead Island 2 surprised all of us when it was revealed at this year’s E3, and Deep Silver has just launched an excellent first gameplay trailer for the title.

The video marks one of the bloodiest trailers that I’ve seen in some time, and it looks to be a great expansion on everything that Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide accomplished over the years. The game looks creepy and silly, all at the same time, and I can’t wait to see more.

The team over at BioWare have released Part 1 of a series of videos showing off the next in the Dragon Age series. Inquisition hopes to bring the series to the “next-gen’ (current gen) with an expansive open world and smarter AI.

Not having played ANY of the Dragon Age games, I went into this one completely blind. The combat looks “OKAY”, but I hope the character development and the open world will make up for that. Frostbite 3 looks better than ever!

You can get your hands on Dragon Age: Inquisition October 7th on: PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Briefly: Destiny made quite the show at this year’s E3, and the Alpha that followed was even better (I barely slept for the entire weekend).

Today’s Bungie Day (a self-proclaimed holiday due to the developer’s obsession with the number 7) brought on a plethora of new details about the game, including just when we’ll get some time to play again, as well as info on the sure-to-be-sought-after collector’s and Ghost editions.

First up, the Beta. Playstation 3 and 4 owners will get the first taste from July 17th to 20th. Things will go dark on the 21st and 22nd, but when the Beta returns on July 23rd, Xbox 360 and Xbox one owners will also be able to join in on the fun. The Beta will end for everyone on Sunday, July 27th, which will probably be our last taste of Destiny until its official launch. Here’s a nice Bungie-created infographic to break things down for you:

Looks like I won’t be earning that emblem; I’ll be in California for SDCC, so I’ll be missing out on the entire Beta (and I’m not even upset about it).

The developer also detailed the Limited Edition and Collector’s “Ghost” Edition of the game. Here are the details, straight from Bungie.net.

Bungie has also debuted a new Beta trailer for the game, which is totally awesome. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be playing the beta!

Briefly: Rumoured forever and officially announced last month at E3, Microsoft today debuted a new trailer for 343 Industries Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The collection, of course, brings together Halo: Anniversary EditionHalo 2: Anniversary EditionHalo 3, and Halo 4, with all their campaigns, co-ops, and multiplayer maps, all in 1080P 60FPS. As someone who has missed out on Halo in its entirety to this point (aside from a few nights of multiplayer), I couldn’t be more excited for the package.

The new trailer reintroduces us to the Arbiter (and his many names, depending on who you side with). I don’t know much about what’s going on, but I do know that it looks very pretty.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Halo: The Master Chief Collection hits the Xbox One on November 11th!
