Briefly: In just one more week you’ll finally be able to pick up Grand Theft Auto V… again.

Sure, you may have already played the game on your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, but after checking out the just-released launch trailer, you’re very likely going to want need to head back to Los Santos.

Rockstar says that “Grand Theft Auto V will take full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail. Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions all work together to bring new life to the cities, towns, deserts and oceans of Rockstar North’s epic reimagining of Southern California.”

It’ll include all the content that’s been released for the game so far, as Rockstar notes that “gameplay created since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online, including an extensive array of new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations will also be available for the PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One and PC with much more to come. In addition, the current community of players will have the ability to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC.”

We can’t wait. I never actually finished the PS3 version of the title, so it’ll be as good a reason as any for me to jump right back into it. Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this one up.

Briefly: Spring has come and gone, and we’ve still heard nary a word of Grand Theft Auto V‘s online heist component.

Rockstar today released a statement regarding the fact that none have been released (again, they were originally slated for Spring), but the developer assures us that the content is still on its way. Here’s what they had to say:

For those of you asking about other upcoming GTA Online updates, we have lots more in store coming your way soon. We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated. We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding and support. Stay tuned for more information on that as well as lots of other ongoing content updates, enhancements and additions to the world of GTA Online that are on the way.

I dropped out of Grand Theft Auto: Online some time ago, but the inclusion of heists would definitely get me back into the game. This is what I imagined when they first showed off the multiplayer component, and what we have now, as fun as it is, is a far cry from what it could be.

Are you still playing GTA: Online? What’s your favourite thing to do in the title? Sound out below!

Briefly: It’s finally happening.

Grand Theft Auto V is headed to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The new version of the game was revealed at Sony’s E3 press conference earlier tonight, and it looks great.

In addition, the current community of players will have the ability to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC.”

This is great. I can’t wait to buy this game again (yep, I’m one of those suckers). Take a look at the new in-engine trailer, and let us know if you’re excited.

Briefly: First announced just a few weeks back, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has just hit the iOS App Store.

Now, this version of San Andreas isn’t simply a straight port. Rockstar states that “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been upgraded for its mobile release. Newly remastered graphics including dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched color palette, plus enhanced character and car models make this the best-looking version of San Andreas yet.”

Sound like a buy yet? The game also “features brand new touch controls including contextual control options to display buttons only when you need them and three different control schemes for driving and maneuvering, as well as a reworked checkpoint system for easier progression. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for mobile also comes equipped with full controller support, including Made for iOS controller capability on iOS7.”

How about now? The game also utilizes iCloud save support, meaning that you can pick up the game on your iPhone, and continue it on your iPad later (and vice versa). You can also use your own music in the game (if you feeling like missing out on the excellent radio stations) by creating a playlist on your device titled GTASA.

You can pick up the iOS version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas here for a cool $6.99. The Android and Windows phone versions should be released in the coming weeks!

Briefly: This is amazing news. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is SO huge, I didn’t expect to see it on mobile phones for some time! How long until you’re playing Grand Theft Auto IV on your iPad?

Rockstar Games has announced that the revered Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is going mobile next month. The game will be launching on select iOS and Android devices sometime in December. How exciting is that? You’ll soon be able to traverse San Andreas while you poop!

Here’s what Rockstar said about the announcement:

Before GTAV took us to the sun-bleached sidewalks and humming concrete freeways of present-day Los Santos and beyond, there was Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the biggest GTA of the PS2 era. Now, head back to the early 90s with CJ and the Grove Street Families when Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas comes to mobile devices next month.

Encompassing Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas and everything in between, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been upgraded for its mobile release. Newly remastered graphics including dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched color palette, plus enhanced character and car models make this the best-looking version of San Andreas yet.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas also features brand new touch controls including contextual control options to display buttons only when you need them and three different control schemes for driving and maneuvering, as well as a reworked checkpoint system for easier progression. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for mobile also comes equipped with full controller support, including Made for iOS controller capability on iOS7. It will be available for select iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Mobile devices. Stay tuned for more details in the weeks ahead.

really like that the iOS version includes controller support. That’s a new feature for iOS 7, which is tailor-made with large games like this in mind. Rockstar is always great about supporting the newest features on mobile (Vice City was one of the first iOS titles with iCloud support), so it’s great to see them continue that trend here.

We’ll be sure to share more information on this one as soon as it’s released! In the meantime, let us know what your favourite San Andreas memory is, and if you’ll be experiencing the title again on your smartphone!

First, it was Trinidad James and Pokemon with Gold Pokemon Everything, which was followed by a Drake/Animal Crossing music video. Now, the folks at Broken Pixels and Angry Bananas are paying tribute to two of the most influential forces in video games and rap music.

Founder and podcast host of the Rotten Bananacast, a show dedicated to the Southern California gaming community, Carlos Lopez is a life-long Grand Theft Auto fan and music in general.

“The video is a tribute to NWA’s album Straight Out of Compton, which just turned 25 years old, but also to celebrate the return to San Andreas in Grand Theft Auto V. The video took about a month to put together.”

The video features the work and talent of Wil Ven, Jerome Chance, Equivalent Exchange,  HBK Fluffy, and Carlos Lopez. You can check out their work in the video below.

Briefly: We’re finally just a few weeks away from the release of Rockstar’s highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V, and the developer has just debuted the official trailer for the game.

In the short (just one minute long) video, we get to see plenty of Los Santos (which looks pretty gorgeous), plenty of explosions, and we also learn just what brought our three protagonists together again. It’s a great trailer, though I don’t know if I could even be more excited for the game at this point.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know which console you’ll be picking up the game on! Grand Theft Auto V hits stores on September 17th!

Briefly: Here it is folks.

That’s right, it’s Thursday morning, and Rockstar has just (finally) debuted the first multiplayer footage from Grand Theft Auto V.

We’ve all been very curious to learn just what Grand Theft Auto V‘s multiplayer component would bring to the table, and that time is finally here. Take a look at the multiplayer first-look below, and let us know just how excited you are!

Grand Theft Auto V hits PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th.

Amazing, right?

Briefly: Nope, it’s not a video of GTA V’s highly anticipated multiplayer mode (that’s coming Thursday), but it’s still pretty damn cool.

Rockstar today overhauled the official Grand Theft Auto website with a Los Santos / Blaine County travelogue. The new site features plenty of new screenshots, and also goes in-depth on some of the things you’ll be able to do in the game.

The site is absolutely full of info, and I’d implore you to check it out if you’re excited for the game. Take a look at a plethora of new screenshots below, and let us know what you think! Grand Theft Auto V hits theatres on September 17th!

Bah, this looks INCREDIBLE!

Briefly: We’ve all been very curious to learn just what Grand Theft Auto V‘s multiplayer component would bring to the table, and it looks like we won’t be waiting much longer.

Rockstar’s official blog has just revealed that the first Online gameplay trailers and previews will hit the web this Thursday, August 15th.

We’ll be sure to share the videos as soon as they’re available! Let us know if you’re excited!

Here it is, folks.

Long awaited, and now just a few months away from release, Rockstar Games has just debuted the first phenomenal gameplay footage from Grand Theft Auto V. We all pretty much knew what we’d be looking at here, but damn does it look good.

I won’t waste any of your time describing the preview, as this just dropped seconds ago. Watch the footage below, and let us know how freaking excited you are! Grand Theft Auto V hits PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th!

Even if you’re planning to immediately upgrading to a PS4 or Xbox One upon release, Rockstar is giving us one very good reason to hold onto our old consoles. Grand Theft Auto V hits stores less than two months before Sony and Microsoft release their next generation of consoles.

Rockstar isn’t at E3 this year, so I’m guessing we won’t be seeing any new footage this week. The developer has, however, released a batch of sexy new screenshots. Even if it isn’t next-gen, this game is pretty.

Take a look at the new images below, and be sure to let us know how excited you are! Grand Theft Auto V releases on September 17th!

Sony just announced the details for their GTA V Special Edition and Collector’s Edition pre-orders over on their Playstation Blog, and I have to say that the offers are more tempting than taking a tank through the streets of downtown to cruise for prostitutes (because we’ve all partaken in that little GTA outing by now). These pre-orders are live now and anyone who places an order between now and Sept. 17th get access to this in game Atomic Blimp… you know, for skydiving.

As for the Special and Collector’s Editions, here are the general details with more information available on the GTA V pre-order page.

The Grand Theft Auto V Collector’s Edition and Grand Theft Auto V Special Edition are the perfect way for fans to celebrate the return of GTA, with special digital content and exclusive Grand Theft Auto V physical items. Grand Theft Auto V Collector’s Edition will retail for $149.99, while the Grand Theft Auto V Special Edition will retail for $79.99 (check with your local retailer for international prices). All versions are now available for pre-order until September 17, 2013, while supplies last.

Look for online pre-order links to be updated at www.rockstargames.com/V/preorder starting later today.

And you can probably use that Collectible Steel Book as a weapon as well now that I think of it… See you on the streets!

Remember when Grand Theft Auto V was set to release this Spring? If that had happened… you’d probably be playing it right now. Instead, take a long, hard look at these 12 new screenshots, as you still have four months to wait for the game to release.

Just remember, as Shigeru Miyamoto once said, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

Grand Theft Auto V releases on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th. How freaking excited are you for this one?

Rockstar has just officially unveiled the official box art for their highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V. The art is pretty much what you’d expect from a Grand Theft Auto game, and the style doesn’t stray from previous covers… well, at all.

Check out the new art below, and let us know what you think! Grand Theft Auto V hits stores on September 17th. Will you be picking it up?

The game’s release may still be six months off (though that date is fast approaching), but that hasn’t stopped Rockstar from releasing a tantalizing new batch of screenshots.

10 new images have been released, which cover everything from skydiving to motorcycling, deep sea diving to miniguns. Check out the shots below, and let us know what you think!

Rockstar today (finally) announced the official release date for the highly anticipated next chapter in the Grand Theft Auto series.

Sadly, it isn’t the Spring release we were all hoping for, so you’re going to be waiting more than a few months to get your hands on this one. Grand Theft Auto V will hit Ps3 and Xbox 360 (still crossing my fingers for a Wii U announcement) on September 17th. That’s about seven months from now if you don’t feel like counting.

Check out the press release below for more information. Sorry gamers, I know you were eagerly looking forward to April (rumoured) so you could pick this up. Why not grab Ni No Kuni while you wait?

Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto V is expected to launch worldwide for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system on September 17, 2013.

Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.

“Grand Theft Auto V continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months.”

The September release date moves the launch back from its original projected release window of spring 2013 in order to allow additional development time. The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world Rockstar Games has yet created, Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game’s three lead characters, playing all sides of the game’s interwoven story.

All the classic hallmarks of the groundbreaking series return, including incredible attention to detail and Grand Theft Auto’s darkly humorous take on modern culture, alongside a brand new and ambitious approach to open world multiplayer.

This week the Geekscapists are the stars of the show as I take on an avalanche of nonstop phone calls from the audience! I also respond to last week’s feedback on the brand new format! Who got snubbed in today’s Oscar nominations? Who should have been? Superior Spider-Man swings onto shelves and already seems like he doesn’t want to stick around! Gunman Clive is the coolest, and cheapest, videogame around! Goodbye to the PS2! The changing trends and news from CES! PLUS! TV’s Chris Gore calls in to talk Star Wars!

Back in November we showed you a fantastic trailer for Grand Theft Auto V. That trailer was phenomenal, and showed off just how varied and fresh GTA can still be after so many iterations. The game looks great, and I can’t wait to pick it up!

It must be the holidays; Rockstar has just released five new screenshots for the game, and they look awesome. Check them out below, and let us know what you think!

Also, is that a submarine?

Grand Theft Auto V is set to hit shelves in Spring 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360. I’m still hoping for a Wii U announcement!

We’re getting three main characters, Los Santos looks incredible, and so much more!

I have no words, you really, really need to see this to believe it! It’s honestly a little tough to accept that this is a current-gen title.

I know that I’ll be waiting in line for Grand Theft Auto V when it releases in the Spring, what about you?

Make sure to let us know what you think!

As with any rumour, take this one with a grain of salt. In any case, if this turns out true, it’s pretty exciting.

It appears as though pre-order posters for Grand Theft Auto V may have been leaked. As we knew before, the poster confirms the game will be releasing for Xbox 36o and PS3. The big news here is that the images reveal a Spring release for the much anticipated game. It’s easy to fake a poster of course, but they look very well done, and feature some hi-res art from characters that we have already seen.

The timing is also appropriate, as GameInformer’s December issue is set to have a MASSIVE GTAV blowout.

Check out the posters below! How excited are you to get back into this universe?

As if knowing that I was getting hungry for them, Rockstar Games has released a slew of screenshots from their upcoming 5th Grand Theft Auto title, this one returning us to the sunny coastal metropolis of San Andreas. Like the previous San Andreas title, it looks like you’ll be able to ride a bike and do some sky diving. Also, you’ll shred on a dirtbike through some canyons. So far so good.

But the tennis… I know you are all looking forward to the tennis… Oh, and there’s an F’ing JET!

An episode a long time in the making! My friends K. Harrison Sweeney and Steve Palmer, voice actors from one of the greatest games of all time, Red Dead Redemption, come on Geekscape to talk about working on the game, their acting work and putting together their upcoming film “From the Trailer to the Grave”, which will feature much of the RDR cast! It’s a pretty awesome episode to listen to and you’re sure to learn a ton about one of your most beloved games! Also, Steve talks about writing comics for Atomic Basement and Harrison talks about protesting zombie rights on the front steps of the Wyoming state legislature! Plus! I read some Geekscapist emails and ALMOST gets my audio right… but not quite!
