WHOA DAMN SON! Surreptitiously, under the protection of night, Rockstar has pushed out the GTA Online Heist update! After over 18 Months of perpetual teasing, we can finally play!

Plan, Prepare, Execute – Online Heists span numerous missions featuring new gameplay, vehicles, weapons, and scenarios to test a team’s full set of skills: from computer hacking to stealth infiltration, precision driving to aerial dogfighting, sniping, skydiving and much more.

4-Player Teams, 4 Ways to Play – Choose your roles and strategize to complete each stage of a Heist, with tight communication and coordination the key to success. Some missions will require the team to work as a single unit, while others will break the team into separate roles to complete key objectives. Replay each Heist to experience a different perspective on the action, and complete Elite Challenges for extra cash.

Additional New Adversary Modes – Brings new kinds of competition to GTA Online while new Daily Objectives and other Freemode activities bring chaos to the streets of Los Santos and Blaine County.

Assemble Your Team – Create a Crew or join existing Crews at the Rockstar Games Social Club to earn additional RP rewards as you play.

The update started to push out this morning for PS4 and Xbox One users, and should have already started automatically if you have the auto update feature on. PS3 and Xbox 360 users will have to manually update the title Heists will also arrive on launch for PC users on April 14th.

So Geekscapists, fire up your consoles and hit up Los Santos. It’s going to get crazy.

Briefly: In just one more week you’ll finally be able to pick up Grand Theft Auto V… again.

Sure, you may have already played the game on your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, but after checking out the just-released launch trailer, you’re very likely going to want need to head back to Los Santos.

Rockstar says that “Grand Theft Auto V will take full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail. Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions all work together to bring new life to the cities, towns, deserts and oceans of Rockstar North’s epic reimagining of Southern California.”

It’ll include all the content that’s been released for the game so far, as Rockstar notes that “gameplay created since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online, including an extensive array of new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations will also be available for the PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One and PC with much more to come. In addition, the current community of players will have the ability to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC.”

We can’t wait. I never actually finished the PS3 version of the title, so it’ll be as good a reason as any for me to jump right back into it. Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking this one up.

Briefly: Spring has come and gone, and we’ve still heard nary a word of Grand Theft Auto V‘s online heist component.

Rockstar today released a statement regarding the fact that none have been released (again, they were originally slated for Spring), but the developer assures us that the content is still on its way. Here’s what they had to say:

For those of you asking about other upcoming GTA Online updates, we have lots more in store coming your way soon. We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated. We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding and support. Stay tuned for more information on that as well as lots of other ongoing content updates, enhancements and additions to the world of GTA Online that are on the way.

I dropped out of Grand Theft Auto: Online some time ago, but the inclusion of heists would definitely get me back into the game. This is what I imagined when they first showed off the multiplayer component, and what we have now, as fun as it is, is a far cry from what it could be.

Are you still playing GTA: Online? What’s your favourite thing to do in the title? Sound out below!

Briefly: It’s finally happening.

Grand Theft Auto V is headed to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The new version of the game was revealed at Sony’s E3 press conference earlier tonight, and it looks great.

This is great. I can’t wait to buy this game again (yep, I’m one of those suckers). Take a look at the new in-engine trailer, and let us know if you’re excited.

Briefly: Now that all of Grand Theft Auto: Online‘s launch issues have been solved, Rockstar is finally able to focus on new content.

The game’s first free content pack has just released for Xbox 360 and PS3, and it features plenty of new vehicles, weapons, jobs, and more!

Here’s what’s included in the ‘Beach Bum’ update, straight from the official Rockstar blog:

NEW VEHICLES, WEAPONS & MORE
Take on new Beach Bum Races with the BF Bifta dune buggy, the rugged Canis Kalahari off-road truck or the Bravado Paradise beach camper van. For aquatic-based endeavors, the classic Speeder speedboat is also now available. All four vehicles can also be accessed in Story Mode and are available at no in-game cost. To access them in GTA Online, just visit the southernsanandreassuperautos.com in-game website (or docktease.com for the Speeder).

Also available in both Story Mode and Online (and at no additional in-game cost) are the new SNS Pistol & Broken Bottle – a pair of close range weapons perfect for any beach blanket brouhaha.

This update also features a wide array of new apparel – everything from casual canvas hats to tank tops, t-shirts, board shorts and bikinis in a wide range of styles and colors… plus new hairstyle and tattoo customization options.

Here are the job details:

30 NEW JOBS COMING TO THE WORLD OF LOS SANTOS & BLAINE COUNTY
In conjunction with today’s Beach Bum update, we’re also adding 30 new Jobs to GTA Online today. This includes new beach-themed Races, Deathmatches, Parachutes, Last Team Standings and Gang Attacks, plus the beachfront “Survival on Del Perro Pier” and more.

And the bugfixes from the latest update:

-Fixed an issue where the game would delete your personal Vehicle if you have another player in it when you add a Tracker and Insurance.

-Fixed an issue where players could become stuck on the aerial view when entering GTA Online with cloud servers down and having just launched a mini-game.

-Fixed an issue where the mission ‘Damaged Goods’ would start even though it had previously been completed.

-Fixed an issue where under rare circumstances players couldn’t claim back their personal vehicle in GTA Online.

-Fixed an issue where under rare circumstances players were able to get the Declasse Sheriff SUV into Los Santos Customs and respray it causing the menus to malfunction.

-Fixed an issue where in rare circumstances players would lose all personal vehicles after being idle kicked and unable to rejoin an online session.

-Fixed an issue where players could occasionally get stuck after killing a pedestrian with a golf ball.

-Corrected an exploit where players would retain their personal vehicle after selling it at Los Santos Customs mod shop by transitioning back and forth between Story Mode and Online.

-Corrected an exploit where players could keep repeatedly selling a Bati 801 to Los Santos Customs.

-Corrected an exploit where players were able to duplicate vehicles by accepting a Mission while leaving a high-end garage.

-Corrected an exploit where a player could start a Team Deathmatch with all players on the same team.

-Players are no longer able to delete their GTA Online character while the Rockstar cloud servers are unavailable.

How are you liking Grand Theft Auto: Online so far? Sound out below, and be sure to join our crew!

Comikaze had a schedule full of of panels this year, but few were as exciting as the Grand Theft Auto V voice actor panel. Joined by Ned Luke, (Michael) Shawn Fonteno, (Franklin) Steven Ogg, (Trevor) Danny Tamberelli, (Jimmy) and Slink Johnson, (Lamar) the fans were sure to get a wild time, especially if their time in the game was any indication.

Below are the highlights of the conversation:

– Most, (if not all,) of the game was shot in front of a green screen with the actors playing their roles in front of the camera like a traditional movie, aside from the skin tight mocap suits covered in balls that they were forced to wear. The way the characters moved were all how the actors moved, from walking, running and riding the bikes, making them feel more realistic. I think was a good payoff despite being smothered in balls from head to toe. Did I mention they were playing with balls? (This was a major part of the panel.)

GTA V Panel 2The cast of GTA V wearing a significant lack of balls.

-On the subject of mocap, the mission where Michael and Jimmy have to ride their bikes together was shot with the actors riding side by side. The directors asked them to ride as fast as possible up until a certain point. Riding fast in  a small room? Not a good idea. Danny and Ned had to shoot that over 70 times to get it right, all without accidentally killing themselves.

– The cast was forced to sign non-disclosure agreements when they were hired for their roles. That’s typical for such a big project, but the contract didn’t say what they were working on, and they wouldn’t find out until much later. Steven didn’t realize how big it was since he doesn’t game. Since Danny is a big gamer, he knew the only projects Rockstar were working on were Max Payne 3 and GTAV, so he figured at the time of signing that it had to be GTA. Ned and Shawn were excited, but none of them could touch Slink.

– Both Shawn and Slink were former gang members, but Slink in particular seemed so humble to be apart of this project, mentioning that  the idea that someone who used to run the streets ended up at this point, he couldn’t stop thanking the fans who helped the game become the success that it is. Or as he repeatedly put it, “thank mothafuckin’ ya’ll!”

– Shawn’s real life cousin is Young Maylay, the voice actor of CJ from San Andreas. The fact that they’re both from Los Santos near the same area that Grove Street used to rule, it’s strange to think that this ended up being purely coincidental. If you’re hoping for a meeting between the two protagonists, they’re in the process of working on a mixtape together. Shawn let hints of the rumored CJ DLC drop a few times, but of course, nothing is confirmed yet.

– Ned and Shawn had apparently met years before, but not in the way you might think. When arriving on set, Ned said he swore he recognized Shawn from somewhere. As it turns out, Shawn *may* have robbed Ned during the LA riots in the early 90’s. Considering how Franklin and Michael formally meet when Frank tries to steal a car from Michael’s house, and we have a case of fiction mimicking reality.

GTA V Panel 3It’s clear that these guys had too much fun working together.

– The cast had to ad lib the majority of the script to make it sound more natural. While the script writers put together a fantastic stories that earned the praise of everyone on the panel, their British background  made relating to hood life as let’s say… a bit of a challenge. Over time, dialogue that started off as, “hey mate, let’s go chat for a bit,” turned into, “sup, dawg. What’s goin’ down?” Although I won’t lie, I’d pay for a redone version with the original dialogue, just to see how Los Santos would be with a splash of Downtown Abbey.

-Speaking of the script, this thing was a monster. Ned mentioned that it had to have been at least 3500 pages of dialogue. With that said, the ad libs and the crew getting to know the actors led to a perfect blend between who the characters were written to be and who the actors really are through their individual personalities. As Ned put it, “They wrote us.”

-3500 pages was a hell of a task, which is probably why Slink didn’t bother reading it. While the actors got together and went over their lines, Slink could usually be found off to the side sleeping somewhere. With that said, every time the cameras started rolling, he knew EXACTLY what to say and really made Lamar his own. I thought his dialogue was some of the most realistic, so I can see why.

– The actors apparently like messing with people online. One time, Ned noticed someone who may or may not have been named DenzelKid getting killed repeatedly. Later, Ned hid in his car and had a father-like talk that only Michael could give. To paraphrase, “I see you getting killed a lot out there. What the hell are you doing?” DenzelKid apparently recognized his voice and muttered, “Is this… Is this Franklin!?” From then on, Ned rode with him, helped him through the game and bought him a car that hopefully won’t get repossessed. Hopefully he appreciated this more than Jimmy ever did.

GTA V Panel 1Trevor being Trevor.

-Lamar on the other hand, is treated like a minor celebrity online. Both on the street and in GTA Online, people are constantly thanking him for picking them up from the airport. A thank you is the least of what he deserves. Picking up millions of people worldwide is hard work!

– That’s not to say being recognized online is a good thing. Ned keeps getting hits put on him by some guy named AddPrices. He gave us permission to hunt him down for messing with Mr. De Santa. If you see this guy, have at it!

– And lastly, working with Lazlow was great, especially when tattooing a penis on his chest.

I didn’t follow the game all that closely, so seeing how much went into the development of the acting portion alone was beyond impressive. One thing that was apparent from watching these five interact however, was how much fun they had making the game and how close they became throughout the three year process of making one of the most successful games of all time. The chemistry shined on stage and showed how five people from different countries, generations and backgrounds could meld so well, which was a big part of why GTAV‘s story was such a blast to experience.

Beyond GTA, you can catch Shawn working on his new clothing line, Rich Rotten, and a few film projects, not to mention the previously mentioned collaboration with CJ. Follow him on Twitter @Shawn_Fonteno.

Steven is heading to Toronto to work on a film with Henry Rollins, (Rollins and Trevor in one place? Toronto… your days are numbered!) From there, it’s off to Portland to film A Time to Kill. Then, it’s  The Neck. Ogg’s a busy guy! Keep up with him @StevenOgg.

Danny can be found at manboobscomedy.com and with his former Pete and Pete costar Mike Maronna on the Adventures of Danny and Mike podcast. To think that fat piece of vulgar crap in GTA was the same guy who helped me figure it out as a kid. Stalk him @dtamberelli.

Slink has a ton in the pipeline too, including Black Jesus on Adult Swim, Community Service, a sitcom that just wrapped up its pilot and is currently seeking a network, and performing stand up at The Comedy Store in LA. Otherwise, you can still catch him @Slinkybaby and on the streets of Normandie and Florance.

And Ned… Ned is doing what he does best. Being a husband and father. When not being a family man, follow him @ned_luke.

Briefly: We’re finally just a few weeks away from the release of Rockstar’s highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V, and the developer has just debuted the official trailer for the game.

In the short (just one minute long) video, we get to see plenty of Los Santos (which looks pretty gorgeous), plenty of explosions, and we also learn just what brought our three protagonists together again. It’s a great trailer, though I don’t know if I could even be more excited for the game at this point.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know which console you’ll be picking up the game on! Grand Theft Auto V hits stores on September 17th!

Briefly: Here it is folks.

That’s right, it’s Thursday morning, and Rockstar has just (finally) debuted the first multiplayer footage from Grand Theft Auto V.

Amazing, right?

Briefly: Nope, it’s not a video of GTA V’s highly anticipated multiplayer mode (that’s coming Thursday), but it’s still pretty damn cool.

Rockstar today overhauled the official Grand Theft Auto website with a Los Santos / Blaine County travelogue. The new site features plenty of new screenshots, and also goes in-depth on some of the things you’ll be able to do in the game.

The site is absolutely full of info, and I’d implore you to check it out if you’re excited for the game. Take a look at a plethora of new screenshots below, and let us know what you think! Grand Theft Auto V hits theatres on September 17th!

Briefly: We’ve all been very curious to learn just what Grand Theft Auto V‘s multiplayer component would bring to the table, and it looks like we won’t be waiting much longer.

Rockstar’s official blog has just revealed that the first Online gameplay trailers and previews will hit the web this Thursday, August 15th.

We’ll be sure to share the videos as soon as they’re available! Let us know if you’re excited!

Here it is, folks.

Long awaited, and now just a few months away from release, Rockstar Games has just debuted the first phenomenal gameplay footage from Grand Theft Auto V. We all pretty much knew what we’d be looking at here, but damn does it look good.

I won’t waste any of your time describing the preview, as this just dropped seconds ago. Watch the footage below, and let us know how freaking excited you are! Grand Theft Auto V hits PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th!

Even if you’re planning to immediately upgrading to a PS4 or Xbox One upon release, Rockstar is giving us one very good reason to hold onto our old consoles. Grand Theft Auto V hits stores less than two months before Sony and Microsoft release their next generation of consoles.

Rockstar isn’t at E3 this year, so I’m guessing we won’t be seeing any new footage this week. The developer has, however, released a batch of sexy new screenshots. Even if it isn’t next-gen, this game is pretty.

Take a look at the new images below, and be sure to let us know how excited you are! Grand Theft Auto V releases on September 17th!

Remember when Grand Theft Auto V was set to release this Spring? If that had happened… you’d probably be playing it right now. Instead, take a long, hard look at these 12 new screenshots, as you still have four months to wait for the game to release.

Just remember, as Shigeru Miyamoto once said, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

Grand Theft Auto V releases on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th. How freaking excited are you for this one?

IT MUST BE CHRISTMAS IN APRIL!  Rockstar Games has just put out this rad new set of trailers for the upcoming GTA 5! I’d like you to meet Michael. Franklin and Trevor.

The three different styles and tones from each of these videos has me pumped in so many different ways. Looks like we can be Tony Soprano, Ice Cube and a fucked up Walter White. You can get your hands on GTA 5 this September!

Rockstar has just officially unveiled the official box art for their highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V. The art is pretty much what you’d expect from a Grand Theft Auto game, and the style doesn’t stray from previous covers… well, at all.

Check out the new art below, and let us know what you think! Grand Theft Auto V hits stores on September 17th. Will you be picking it up?

The game’s release may still be six months off (though that date is fast approaching), but that hasn’t stopped Rockstar from releasing a tantalizing new batch of screenshots.

Rockstar today (finally) announced the official release date for the highly anticipated next chapter in the Grand Theft Auto series.

Sadly, it isn’t the Spring release we were all hoping for, so you’re going to be waiting more than a few months to get your hands on this one. Grand Theft Auto V will hit Ps3 and Xbox 360 (still crossing my fingers for a Wii U announcement) on September 17th. That’s about seven months from now if you don’t feel like counting.

Check out the press release below for more information. Sorry gamers, I know you were eagerly looking forward to April (rumoured) so you could pick this up. Why not grab Ni No Kuni while you wait?

Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto V is expected to launch worldwide for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system on September 17, 2013.

Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.

“Grand Theft Auto V continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months.”

The September release date moves the launch back from its original projected release window of spring 2013 in order to allow additional development time. The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world Rockstar Games has yet created, Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game’s three lead characters, playing all sides of the game’s interwoven story.

All the classic hallmarks of the groundbreaking series return, including incredible attention to detail and Grand Theft Auto’s darkly humorous take on modern culture, alongside a brand new and ambitious approach to open world multiplayer.

This one is going to be HUGE. Via their official blog, Rockstar games has revealed that the final box art for the hell-anticipated Grand Theft Auto V will be released later this month. The game is so anticipated in fact, that it made it onto our list of things we’re looking forward to most in 2013.

While box art isn’t typically the most exciting thing (I’d much rather play the game than look at the box it came in), a new batch of screenshots has also made it online, and they look phenomenal.

Check them out below, and get excited. Grand Theft Auto V (and its three protagonists) will hit your PS3 or Xbox 360 this spring.

What do you think?

Around this time last year, to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III, Rockstar was kind enough to port the game over to iOS and Android devices.

Vice City is approaching that same mark, and today Rockstar announced that the 80’s edition of GTA will be getting the same treatment. The release date for this new version has not been set, but as Vice City’s 10th anniversary falls in just three days, it’s likely coming pretty quick.

I was quite impressed with how well GTA III transitioned to a touch screen device (I played the game on iPhone and iPad, so I can’t speak for Android performance). It wasn’t perfect though, and I definitely hope that Vice City improves on some of the technical aspects of GTA III: the game didn’t have iCloud support which was a huge oversight, and also was never updated for the 3rd Generation iPad’s Retina Display. Rockstar did a great job otherwise, and I’m definitely looking forward to picking up another one of their mobile titles.

To make things even sweeter, as part of the anniversary celebration, Rockstar is offering GTA III and GTA: Chinatown Wars for just $.99
