Briefly: Whether he meant to or not (he probably meant to), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb has revealed just who B.J. Novak is playing in the upcoming film:

So, since the film doesn’t already have enough villains, do you think that the Spider-Slayers could be making an appearance as well? Or is Webb just planting the seed for a future film?

Do you like the idea of Novak in the role? Is there someone else you’d rather have seen? Sound out below!

Briefly: Following the synopsis released last week, A&E has debuted the official key art for the second season of Bates Motel.

Bates Motel premieres on March 3rd, and as know, we couldn’t me more excited for it. Take a look at the image below, and let us know what you think!

BatesPoster

Picking up from last season, Norman (Freddie Highmore) is fixating on Miss Watson’s death while Norma’s mysterious past starts to haunt the family with the introduction of her brother. Meanwhile, Norman’s brother Dylan, (Max Thieriot), gets more entrenched in the familial drug war that fuels White Pine Bay and finds himself right in the middle of the danger as Bradley (Nicola Peltz), who remains on the hunt to uncover her father’s killer, is driven to precarious extremes. Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell), is caught up on all fronts as everything in town escalates and Emma (Olivia Cooke) complicates her relationship with Norman as the duo explore new love interests, bringing new and old characters along for the ride.

Briefly: Sony teased us with the first half of their Amazing Spider-Man 2 Super Bowl spot last Thursday. Today, the studio both completed the spot, and also released a sweet, sweet three minute and fifty second long “Villains Unite” trailer for the film.

The spot may reveal some important details about the feature (like the apparent fate of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacey), and the trailer delves into the origins of Jamie Foxx’s Max Dillon. While I didn’t really like the film’s first trailer, I thoroughly enjoyed everything that Sony released today.

Here’s the new spot (well, and the old one to catch you up):

Like it? Let us know! The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theatres on May 2nd!

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Briefly: Following the excellent trailer and TV spot for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and the hilarious new look at Muppets Most Wanted, here is the first official footage from Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age Of Extinction:

http://youtu.be/3pmvkR3NbGM

Yep… I think that most people either really love or really hate the Transformers franchise (you should know by now that I’m in the latter… I haven’t even seen Revenge of the Fallen or Dark of the Moon), but in either case, be sure to let us know what you think of the footage!

As SJ noted earlier todayTransformers: Age of Extinction is slated for a June 27, 2014 release and stars Jack Raynor, Nicola Peltz and Mark Wahlberg, with Peter Cullen reprising his role as the voice of Optimus Prime. Kelsey Grammer recently joined the cast as the villain Harold Attinger, and Glenn Morshower is returning to the role of General Morshower.

Briefly: Here’s the hilarious Super Bowl Spot for Muppets Most Wanted, which continues the awesome, ridiculous twitter comments that we first saw in the last preview.

Take a look at the video below, and get excited; Muppets Most Wanted hits theatres on March 21st, so it’s right around the corner!

Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais, creator of “Derek” and the Golden Globe®- and Emmy®-winning series “The Office” and “Extras.” The film stars Golden Globe-, Emmy- and SAG Award®-winning actress and writer Tina Fey (“30 Rock,” “Mean Girls,” “Date Night”) as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Emmy Award winner Ty Burrell (TV’s “Modern Family”) as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.

Briefly: Well, the Super Bowl is over. The game was miserable (well, for Broncos fans at least), but the commercials, trailers, and TV spots were great.

During the game, Marvel debuted a brand-new TV spot for the film, and subsequently released an awesome new trailer online. This Winter Soldier-focussed preview may be one of the best Marvel trailers that I’ve seen in quite some time. Seriously, it’s awesome!

Take a look at both the spot and trailer below, and let us know how much you’re looking forward to the film. Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theatres on April 4th!

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds Steve Rogers – aka Captain America – living quietly in Washington, DC, and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy – the Winter Soldier.

Briefly: Telltale launched the first trailer for the second episode of The Wolf Among Us just a few days ago, and today the developer let us all know just how soon we can return to Fabletown.

Episode 2, Smoke and Mirrors will launch for Windows, OS X, and PS3 on Tuesday, February 4th, and will hit Xbox 360 (and European PS3’s) on February 5th. The episode will also release on the iOS App Store sometime next week.

This is damn cool.

Today, Machinima released the very first episode of Ghost Source Zero, a neat new sic-fi by original G.I. Joe Writer Larry Hama and Nerd Rage Productions founder Mark Cheng.

The project “takes place in the midst of the Artificial Intelligence Revolution. With Americans watching on their Living Wall flat screens and Genius Phones, Homeland Security’s Cyber Crime Division is the only thing trying to stop the ‘bots and ‘borgs from taking over, and they are so underfunded they have to allow a reality show crew to embed with them just to meet payroll-‐ forget about the pensions. But are the robots really trying to usurp humanity? Or are they just seeking a seat at the table?”

Sounds cool, huh? Well, why not watch the pilot below, and look below to learn how you can help Ghost Source Zero continue. Yep, the creators want to make even more.

http://youtu.be/V6empiP5F44

Hama and Cheng would love to turn Ghost Source Zero into a film serial, so they’ve taken to Kickstarter to raise the funds. The campaign has raised a fantastic $29, 754 of its $65, 000 goal in just a few days, so it’s well on its way to becoming a reality.

The creators are looking for money to fund:

-production coordination
-locations
-travel
-audio engineering
-legal
-food
-YOUR MONEY WILL GO TOWARDS MAKING THIS FILM – AND OUR DREAMS – COME TRUE!!

Ghost Source Zero looks like a great project, and is certainly one that I’d love to see come to fruition. As always, there are plenty of amazing rewards up for grabs, including digital downloads, posters, Blu-Rays, credits, tours, costumes, and more! There’s some seriously cool stuff here.

Take a look at the project’s Kickstarter video below, and if you’re interested, head here to back the film!

Briefly: Agent 47 has just signed its second actor.

Heroes and Star Trek star Zachary Quinto has joined the project in an unknown role. He joins Homeland’s Rupert Friend in the film, who replaces the late Paul Walker as Agent 47.

The Hitman reboot, Agent 47 will be directed by Aleksander Bach. We’ll be sure to share more news on this one as further information comes to light! Who else would you like to see join the project?

Briefly: Following the three new character posters released just yesterday, Marvel has debuted a brief preview of the new footage that’s set to premiere this Super Bowl Sunday.

It’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it short, but take a look at the teaser below, and let us know what you think! What are you hoping to see this Sunday?

Briefly: So Nintendo goes through a very tough financial year, and they’re still giving us things to be thankful for.

The big N has brought The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition back to the 3DS eShop, and it’s totally free for the next four days. That’s right! From now, until Sunday, February 2, at 11:59 p.m. (PST), you can jump on your 3DS and download the game at no cost.

I wasn’t a GBA owner back when Four Swords first launched, so I’ve missed out on the game until now. I can’t wait to grab a few 3DS-owning friends to play through it with!

Here’s what Nintendo had to say about the promotion:

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is GameSpot’s 2013 game of the year! We want to celebrate all things Hyrulian, so for a limited time we’re offering The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition for FREE!

Just go to Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo 3DS or 2DS from Thursday, Jan. 30, at 9 AM (PST) until Sunday, Feb. 2, at 11:59 PM (PST) to download this awesome adventure. Grab it while you can: when the offer ends, it might be a while before you see the game again in Nintendo eShop.

The offer will be gone in a flash, but don’t hang up your Master Sword just yet—the celebrations will continue with the release of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, available for purchase on Nintendo eShop for Wii U, and a special Art Academy SketchPad event in Miiverse!

Now, let’s all show our thanks by going out and picking up a Wii U, okay?

Briefly: I hate teasers for trailers as much as the next guy, but this one is pretty cool.

Sony has released a brief teaser for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer that’s set to air during the Super Bowl this Sunday. The spot features a bunch of footage that we haven’t seen before, including a very quick look at the mechanized Rhino… and it may even hint at the fate of Gwen Stacey. I bet Pete’s going to regret not keeping that promise at the end of this film.

In any case, take a look at the spot below, and let us know what you hope to see this Sunday!

Briefly: The release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier is fast approaching, and we couldn’t be more excited!

While Marvel’s Phase Two had a rocky start with Iron Man 3 (well, not financially, but we didn’t love it), Thor: The Dark World was an absolute blast, and so far The Winter Soldier looks like it could be even better.

Marvel today debuted three great looking character posters for the film, featuring Cap (of course), as well as Black Widow and Nick Fury. You can take a look at the images below, and let us know if you’re excited for the film! Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theatres on April 4th!

Briefly: Universal Pictures today debuted the very first trailer for Seth MacFarlane’s Ted follow-up, A Million Ways To Die In The West.

I’d actually not heard of the film until today, but as is usually the case with Seth MacFarlane (and was definitely the case with most of Ted), this one looks great, and I can’t wait to see more.

A Million Ways To Die In The West stars Seth MacFarlane (who also directed, produced, and co-wrote the film), Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman and Neil Patrick Harris. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! The film hits theatres on May 30th!

Seth MacFarlane directs, produces, co-writes and plays the role of the cowardly
sheep farmer Albert in A Million Ways to Die in the West. After Albert backs out
of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious
and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin
to fall in love. But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge,
the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.

Briefly: First announced back at SDCC 2013, Dark Horse Comics has just released the first preview pages for February’s Tomb Raider #1.

The new monthly series will be written by Gail Simone, and features art by Nicolás Daniel Selma (and gorgeous covers by Dan Dos Santos). The series is an official continuation of last year’s Tomb Raider (and the just-released Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition), which featured a fantastic plot on top of its stellar gameplay and beautiful visuals.

Take a look at the pages below, and let us know if you’ll be adding Tomb Raider to your pull list. The first issue hits stores on February 26th!

Briefly: We already know which game will be receiving the ‘Most Hilarious Title’ award at the end of the year.

As announced earlier this month, Young Horses Inc.’s Octodad: Dadliest Catch has just released for Windows, OS X, and Linux. The game can be purchased from Steam here, and Good Old Games here.

I’m beyond excited for Octodadbut I’ll be waiting for the PS4 version to check the title out. It definitely seems suited for a controller, and having it on my home console will also make it easier for others in the household to fall in love with it. I had the opportunity to play a demo of the game a few weeks back, and I was in stitches for its duration.

Take a look at the game’s launch trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up!

Briefly: We’re just a couple of weeks away from finally seeing José Padilha’s Robocop remake, and Sony Pictures has just debuted a new featurette that digs into the film’s bad-ass, all-star cast… and also made me realize that Gary Oldman is in it (how did I miss that).

I’m still skeptical of the feature (of course). The trailers have been very cool, but I’m definitely afraid of another Total Recall happening. In any case, today’s featurette showcases some cool new footage, and as skeptical as I am, it’s hard not to be excited as well.

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! Are you looking forward to the Robocop remake?

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

Briefly: We’ve seen some stills, and even a teaser, but El Ray just launched a full trailer for March’s From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series.

Clocking in at two-and-a-half minutes, the trailer gives us a decent idea of what to expect from the series, and I think that fans will be very happy with what they see here.

In any case, take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be watching From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series when it premieres on March 11th.

Based on the thrill-ride film, the supernatural crime saga is centered around bank robber Seth Gecko (Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko (Holtz), who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw (Don Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Jesse Garcia) after a bank heist leaves several people dead. The series, created and executive produced by network Founder and Chairman, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, will premiere on El Rey Network, Tuesday, March 11th at 9pm ET/PT.

Briefly: We first played (and loved, read our review hereThe Wolf Among Us all the way back in October of last year. Episode one, Faith, was an excellent introduction to the series, its world, and its characters (for Fable readers and non-readers alike), and the episode’s unexpected, maddening conclusion left us absolutely dying for more.

Sure, we played (and also loved) some The Walking Dead (read our review of Season Two’s first episode here) while we’ve waited for the second episode of The Wolf Among Us, but that hasn’t made the extended delay much easier.

A few weeks back, Telltale revealed that the game’s second episode, Smoke & Mirrors, would release in the first week of February. Today, the developer launched an awesome, frustrating (because we can’t play it yet) trailer for the episode. Take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to your trip back to Fabletown!

Briefly: Following the new TV spot from earlier this week, AMC today debuted the first clip from The Walking Dead‘s midseason premiere.

Take a look at the clip below, and be sure to let us know what you hope to see in the next eight episodes. The Walking Dead returns on February 9th!

Following the devastating events of the mid-season finale, Rick and the group are still reeling from the loss of their home, family, and friends. With the destruction of the prison, we see the group of survivors broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else’s fate. What was a challenging life behind fences and walls grows that much more perilous and precious as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies, and heartbreaking choices. They will have their faith thoroughly tested — a faith that breaks some of them and redeems others.

Briefly: Following the debut of 25 awesome, limited edition Empire covers earlier this week, the publication has just released four new stills from X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The images give us new looks at Mystique, Wolverine, Magneto, Iceman, Kitty Pride, Colossus, and Iceman, and are some of the better stills we’ve seen from the film thus far.

Take a look at the stills below, and let us know what you think in the comments below! X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theatres on May 23rd!

Briefly: AMC has just debuted a new TV spot for the return of The Walking Dead.

The spot really focusses on the disjointed separation of the group, and just how destroyed and out of it Rick is. I smell the Rick/Carl post Prison comic book arc coming up for sure.

Briefly: Again, the video below definitely contains spoilers for the first episode of Burial at Sea. If you haven’t played, don’t watch!

Irrational Games has just debuted a first look at episode two of their Bioshock Infinite DLC, Buried at Sea. We already knew that episode two would have us playing as Elizabeth, but after the end of episode one, we were all left wondering just how things were going to work out.

It’s hard to say more without getting too spoilery, so just take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think. Burial at Sea – Episode Two is still without a release date, but as the video says, it’s ‘Coming Soon’, and you know that we can’t wait for it.

Briefly: Following the announcement of a Ratchet & Clank movie last year, Sony has just revealed their next animated adventure, Sly Cooper.

First developed by Sucker Punch (who later moved on to the critically acclaimed Infamous franchise), Sly Cooper is an excellent stealth-action-platformer series that first debuted on the PS2 in 2002.

Here’s what Sony had to say about the newly announced film, and its first teaser trailer:

When we met with PlayStation to discuss the film last year, we proposed that the CG art style would transfer best in the leap to the big screen. Both PlayStation and Sucker Punch Productions (the original creators of the franchise) were kind enough to give us the chance to make this idea a reality. After a few months of development, the team at Rainmaker, along with Director Kevin Munroe, nailed it. Well, kind of…

The modeler gave Murray the wrong helmet, which was more like a motorcycle helmet — funny, but definitely NOT his signature one. And while we all loved the temp music track — which happened to be the theme to Mission Impossible — that music would have cost us a fortune to license. With those quirks worked out, we’re excited to bring you this first look and hope you enjoy it.

The Sly Cooper release is slated for 2016. The film will also be released in 3D for those who want to feel like they’re in the actual Sly Cooper world.

Now, take a look at the trailer below, let us know what you think, and be sure to share your favourite Sly Cooper moment in the comments below! Sly Cooper is slated to release in 2016.

Based on one of PlayStation’s most beloved franchises, Sly Cooper is a kinetic and comedic heist film that tells the story of Sly Cooper, an orphaned raccoon thief, and the adventures of his childhood friends and partners in crime, Bentley Turtle and Murray Hippo. In the film, Sly learns that he comes from a long line of talented, international thieves, and is catapulted into a global adventure. Sly races to reassemble pieces of an ancient book holding the Cooper clan’s family secrets before it can fall into the hands of Clockwerk — an evil metallic owl bent on ending the Cooper family line.

Briefly: Disney and Feld Entertainment launched the first teaser for Marvel Universe Live all the way back in October.

Now, tickets for the show have gone on sale (for many US cities, at least), and a new teaser has debuted, taking us behind the scenes, and showing off some of the cool tech created for the show.

Marvel Universe Live looks like it’ll be a blast, and I can’t wait for the show to head to Canada so I can check it out myself. The show launches in the US this July, so take a look at the new featurette below, and pick up your tickets before it’s too late!

Briefly: Breaking Bad may be over, but that doesn’t mean we’re done with its universe.

Back in September, a Saul Goodman centric spinoff called Better Call Saul was officially announced, with Bob Odenkirk obviously set to star. Since its announcement, we’ve all been speculating which other Breaking Bad characters would be making appearances, and AMC has just made their first official reveal.

Jonathan Banks, who played Mike for more than two seasons of the series, will reprise his role in Better Call Saul.

No other actors or plot information has been revealed, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we learn more. In any case, Better Call Saul is set to premiere this November.

Are you happy to see Mike return? Sound out below!

Briefly: Following our first look at the new Time Lord on set earlier this month, BBC has debuted the first image of Peter Capaldi’s Doctor in costume.

According to a BBC blog post, Capaldi had this to say about his new garb: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”

Stephen Moffat adds “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!”

Take a look at the photo below, and let us know what you think of the new Doctor, and his new costume!

Briefly: Sony today debuted a brand-new look at the Sucker Punch PS4 exclusive Infamous: Second Son.

As a huge fan of the Infamous series thus far, I have to say that Second Son looks extremely promising. Sucker Punch is clearly using everything that they’ve learned from the franchise’s first two iterations, and is really turning the dial up to 11 with all of their new ideas and gameplay mechanics.

Today’s video explores the game’s new setting, Seattle, and it’s easy to see that Infamous: Second Son is set to be the PS4’s best looking game to date. Take a look at the new preview below, and let us know what you think!

Infamous: Second Son hits stores on March 21st!

Briefly: Just as Bryan Singer revealed in his cryptic tweets last week, It’s a BIG day for those of us looking forward to X-Men: Days of Future Past.

To mark the biggest super-hero movies ever made, this month’s issue of Empire Magazine will feature 25 different, limited edition covers featuring one of the film’s prominent cast members (meaning that you probably won’t see Anna Paquin on one of them).

You can head to Empire here to order all the covers you desire, and you can check them out in the gallery below. Only 15 of the 25 have been revealed so far, so we’ll keep the gallery updated with new images. Take a look below, and let us know which one is your favourite!

Update: Here’s another batch of covers. They’re still coming down the pipeline, so keep checking this space! Even Rogue, who was cut from the film, got a cover!

Update 2: Here’s the final batch of posters, including a look at the film’s future Sentinel.

Again, be sure to let us know your favourites, and also… how dumb does Quicksilver look?

Briefly: I can’t wait to get back to this island.

Nintendo has just launched a new trailer for Yoshi’s New Island, which looks both insanely cute and incredibly fun, and hits stores on March 14th. The game puts a whole new dimension on the original’s pastel visuals, and it’s an upgrade that all of us at Geekscape are excited to make.

As Josh noted in his “Games of 2014” article, “Produced by Takashi Tezuka, the creative director of the original Yoshi’s Island, Nintendo is looking to bring the modern feel to the classic Yoshi game play in the same way New Super Mario Bros has for gaming’s most popular plumber.”

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking Yoshi’s New Island up on March 14th!
