What happens when two of the world’s most evil organizations join forces? We get a potentially awesome comic book!

Announced during Capcom’s Street Fighter V panel at Comic Con, IDW Publishing is releasing Street Fighter X GI Joe, a crossover event that brings together the Real American Heroes and the World Warriors. As the kind of stuff our Saturday mornings were made of back in the day, it’ll be interesting to see how well these worlds mesh together when the series is released in 2016.

While details are few, this sounds like an idea that’s crazy enough to work, (or at least give us a good laugh along the way.) Considering how well other comic crossovers have worked in the past though, I feel like this has a chance to surprise people throughout its run as much as the announcement surprised us in itself. Just imagine all of the wacky shenanigans a super powered dictator and an egotistical commander can get into together!

Will this series be on your radar? Let us know what you think!

This is damn cool.

Today, Machinima released the very first episode of Ghost Source Zero, a neat new sic-fi by original G.I. Joe Writer Larry Hama and Nerd Rage Productions founder Mark Cheng.

The project “takes place in the midst of the Artificial Intelligence Revolution. With Americans watching on their Living Wall flat screens and Genius Phones, Homeland Security’s Cyber Crime Division is the only thing trying to stop the ‘bots and ‘borgs from taking over, and they are so underfunded they have to allow a reality show crew to embed with them just to meet payroll-‐ forget about the pensions. But are the robots really trying to usurp humanity? Or are they just seeking a seat at the table?”

Sounds cool, huh? Well, why not watch the pilot below, and look below to learn how you can help Ghost Source Zero continue. Yep, the creators want to make even more.

Hama and Cheng would love to turn Ghost Source Zero into a film serial, so they’ve taken to Kickstarter to raise the funds. The campaign has raised a fantastic $29, 754 of its $65, 000 goal in just a few days, so it’s well on its way to becoming a reality.

The creators are looking for money to fund:

-production coordination
-locations
-travel
-audio engineering
-legal
-food
-YOUR MONEY WILL GO TOWARDS MAKING THIS FILM – AND OUR DREAMS – COME TRUE!!

Ghost Source Zero looks like a great project, and is certainly one that I’d love to see come to fruition. As always, there are plenty of amazing rewards up for grabs, including digital downloads, posters, Blu-Rays, credits, tours, costumes, and more! There’s some seriously cool stuff here.

Take a look at the project’s Kickstarter video below, and if you’re interested, head here to back the film!

Concept artist Joshua Min has revealed some of contributions for Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The concept art features designs of the Cobra’s ASC (Army Sustainment Command) Island aka “Cobra Island”, a dojo scene featuring Snake Eyes and some ninjas and the prison. The prison seems to be the same art that was shown in the film’s start.

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy, Cobra, they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner, written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe® characters.

I go a bit nuts on the show this time around, letting everyone know who is Number 1 or will be very soon! Geekscape has an agenda and we’re going to play it to the end! WonderCon is this weekend and you know we’ll be representing on the floor at Booth 953! I talk comics books and what DC books you can afford to drop from your pull lists! ‘Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon’ on the 3DS brings me tons of ghostly fun! Shawn Madden drops by to say that ‘GI Joe: Retaliation’ is Triple A Plus Plus! My wife calls up to calm me down and Linder, our new British listener, calls in to talk gardening… and I roll with it! Because gardening rules! PLUS! It’s horn-blowing time!

During last night’s mid-season return of The Walking Dead, Paramount unveiled a new spot for Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation featuring some brand new bits of footage. The spot has now been released online and you can check out it out below. The film is only weeks away from finally hitting theaters and we couldn’t be more excited.

A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation rolls out into theaters March 29th.

With the release date just under two months from now, the viral marketing for G.I. Joe: Retaliation is heating up. After a major delay to post-convert the movie into 3D (and trust me…it’s pretty damn impressive post-conversion) and the release of a few new trailers, anticipation levels for the film are very high. Now the viral marketing for the film has been amped up with new posters, commercials and billboards popping up.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation hits theaters March 29, 2013. Yo Joe!

This weekend Paramount added a special four minute look at the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation to 3D screenings of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. A low-quality version of the preview has made its way online. The preview footage, which is part of a longer ten-minute Himalaya action sequence, is partially inspired by the classic 1984 story “Silent Interlude” from the G.I. Joe comics and is told entirely without spoken dialogue. If the rest of the movie is anything like this scene, it looks like we’re definitely going to be getting a great G. I. Joe film.

The world was shocked last week when Disney and George Lucas announced that Lucas had sold Lucasfilm studio, which includes the rights to Star Wars and most of its characters, to the company. Now, it appears that Disney has possibly turned their attention to buying another company with even more film and toy opportunities for them.

According to MTV, Disney has been in contact with Hasbro about acquiring them and at the moment it’s just talks. But apparently these talks are serious enough that we could see an announcement made any day that the media giant has purchased another company.

Normally, deals like this would take time but Disney has been moving quite quickly to get these deals done. Rumor is that the Lucas deal only took them roughly around six months. With the purchase of Hasbro, Disney would gain the G.I. Joe and Transformers properties. Yes, this means that you may not see any more Michael Bay directed Transformers films after the fourth film comes out. As of the moment none of this is confirmed but that could very well change very soon. However, for now…take this one with a grain of salt.

A new action-packed trailer for Paramount’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation has made it’s way online.  Were we upset that this movie didn’t get released as planned this year? Definitely. Are we still going to be in theaters opening weekend for this one? Hell yeah.

A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with Hasbro and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. G.I. Joe: Retaliation is hitting theaters March 29, 2013.

This is news that is sure to disappoint fans of the 80’s cartoon series. During a recent interview with The Score’s Arda Ocal, former WWF Champion Sgt. Slaughter filled us in on how a conflict between two toy companies prevented him from making a cameo in both GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra and GI Joe: Retaliation.

Robert Remus aka Sgt. Slaughter has the unique honor of being the first GI Joe figure that is actually based on a real life person. While the backstory is for the most part fabricated, the likeness is of the sarge. His character appeared in six episodes of the original 1980’s Sunbow cartoon, two of the Marvel comic books, and GI Joe: The Movie. I’m pretty sure him having a cameo in the movie would have definitely pleased many die-hard fans.

Now i’m sure by now you’ve heard that film has been pushed back to next year but that doesn’t mean Paramount isn’t going to keep pushing the film. Courtesy of ICG Magazine we have some new stills from ‘GI Joe: Retaliation’ including a few behind the scenes ones.

So, a few days back I reported on ‘GI Joe: Retaliation’ being pushed back and it looks like there’s more than meets the eye here. Wait… wrong franchise. Moving along. We were all told it was so that they could go 3D to pull in a higher international gross. But from the get go there was plenty of people not buying it. Most were positive it was due to ‘Battleship’ sinking and a fear that they would not be able to compete with ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ coming out four days later. Some speculated it was to try and pull in Joseph Gordon Levitt after realizing that once ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ hits… well he’s going to be bigger than he already is.

Well… according to Deadline you were all wrong. Apparently after test screenings Paramount realized they had made some mistakes. Primarily… killing off Channing Tatum. Yeah… they killed him off. Crying fan boys on the internet ACTUALLY got something they wanted and guess what? It turned out bad. Who would’ve thought? Tatum wasn’t a star at all when ‘GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra’ came out. But after he became a ladies favorite with ‘The Vow’ and had one of the most successful comedies of the year with ’21 Jump Street’ they realized a mistake had been made. It became even more apparent when test audiences commented that the relationship between Tatum and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was a “bright spot”.

Sources stated that Jon Chu was “shell shocked” over the release date move. As was Hollywood due to all the money spent on marketing the flick for that date being plastered all over.

Will this affect people going to see it? Probably not. Can this possibly improve the film? I think so. I actually like Channing Tatum (I’m sure now the fan boys shall unite and burn me at the stake) And Ray Park seemed very confident in this movie when I spoke with him at Wondercon. So… lets hope for the best. And look… it just means you can go see ‘Prometheus’, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘Ted’ five more times.

‘GI Joe: Retaliation’ strikes March 29, 2013

Well, looks like there is more to GI Joe being pushed back than originally reported:

According to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s tweet here it looks like they will actually be shooting new scenes for 3D rather than opting for a simple post film, 3D conversion.

Originally it was Jon Chu who chose to not shoot the film in 3D due to the budget.

[Per: The Hollywood reporter]

THR: How was it decided not to shoot the film in 3D?

Jon M. Chu: There was a point where we were talking about it when I first came. It seemed like a natural thing, but I told them, “I know 3D. This is what we need. If we’re going to do 3D, we’re going to do it right.” It had a certain price tag to it, and I was like, if you guys are down I’m down, but I do need more time to do it right. And they were about to do it but they cut it just a little bit short, and [I said,] “if you guys are going to cut it short there is no point. Let’s make a movie — let’s go for it and we’ll go all out. And we shot on film, super-35, and I thought this may be one of the last times I get to shoot on film, and it was actually kind of freeing. I mean, I love 3D and I think there is a lot you can do with it, but there is something to be said about just not waiting for anything. You’re just going. We shot so much film. I mean I think we shot 1.2 million feet of film.

Yesterdays announcement disappointed and let down numbers of fans that were looking forward to the original release date next month. The announcement also led to plenty of speculation as to why the film was being pushed back nearly a year. Some critics even stating Paramount had other motives beyond the 3D. The most interesting of the rumors being that Paramount is using the additional time to actively pursue Joseph Gordon-Levitt to return as Cobra Commander. While I see this being highly unlikely…you never can rule anything out these days. But I don’t see it happening.

GI Joe: Retaliation hits theatres March 29, 2013. Well… hopefully.

So, it looks like some people are going to be let down next month.

Just one month before G.I. Joe: Retaliation was scheduled to hit theaters June 29, Paramount decided to move its release date to March 29, 2013 in order to convert the movie to 3D.

A studio exec has stated “We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can [do] better box office internationally. Jim Cameron did all of Titanic’s 3D in post – and look how well that movie turned out.”

The thing is…what they’re doing IS smart. 3D movies do tend to be more profitable across seas. Its also going to be hard competition for movies this summer (especially with Retaliation coming out literal days before The Amazing Spider-Man) with so many exciting films on the horizon. And as Battleship proved by sinking under the weight of The Avengers…timing may be everything with these releases.

Well…looks like they’re going to have to reprint those posters eh?

Does this decision make me want to see this movie less? No. I’m still going to be dead center geeking out to Snake Eyes and Firefly the whole time.

Eh at least on the bright side though here…this DID cause Universal to bump up Ted by two weeks?
