‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Concept Art Shows Off “Cobra Island”, Ninjas And The Prison

Concept artist Joshua Min has revealed some of contributions for Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The concept art features designs of the Cobra’s ASC (Army Sustainment Command) Island aka “Cobra Island”, a dojo scene featuring Snake Eyes and some ninjas and the prison. The prison seems to be the same art that was shown in the film’s start.

Paramount Moving Forward With ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Sequel

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has established himself as a massive Hollywood draw and saved yet another franchise. G.I. Joe: Retaliation not only dominated the North American box office this weekend but smashed the international box office as well.  Paramount are happy enough with the performance of Jon Chu’s film that they have already made the decision to move ahead with a sequel.

‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Opens To Impressive $11 Million

Last summer, Paramount surprised many when they decided to push back the opening of Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation to March of this year in order to post-convert the film to 3D. Did you think that was going to end up hurting the film’s opening? Well, if so, you thought wrong. Cobra isn’t just out to dominate the world this weekend, but the box office as well.

The film opened up on Wednesday night bringing in $2.25 million (which is great for a Wednesday night opening) and continued on with a strong Thursday that pushed the film’s two day total to $11 million. The film isn’t getting love from the critics, but the fans are loving it and Retaliation has been receiving an ‘A-’ CinemaScore from audiences. Chances are that the film could open to above $50 million domestic, making a third film almost a guarantee.

Actor Providing The Voice Of Cobra Commander In ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Revealed

Paramount has been doing a good job not giving away too much when it comes to Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation. One thing has fans have been wondering for awhile now is, just who will be providing the voice of the villainous Cobra Commander in the film?

Well, the snake is out of the bag. It has been revealed that actor Robert Baker, who you may know best from his roles in Justified, Seraphim Falls and Greys Anatomy, will be providing the voice of the film’s main antagonist. Baker is a college friend of director Jon Chu’s and was asked to lend his voice for a temp track for the film. Paramount was so impressed by Baker’s work that he was asked to be the official voice for the film. Check out the video below for confirmation from Baker himself.

3D Preview Of ‘GI Joe: Retaliation’ To Be Shown In Front Of ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’

Paramount Pictures has announced today that a four minute preview of exclusive 3D footage from John Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation will play in front of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters in theaters worldwide starting this Friday. Check out the press release below:

THE 4-MINUTE PREVIEW WILL BEGIN PLAYING JANUARY 24TH IN IMAX 3D, REALD 3D AND DIGITAL 3D LOCATIONS AROUND THE WORLD
HOLLYWOOD, CA (January 23, 2013) – Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with Hasbro, will release a 4-minute preview of the highly anticipated “G.I. JOE: RETALIATION” in IMAX 3D, RealD 3D and digital 3D theaters in advance of Paramount and MGM’s “HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS.”

This first-look at the film will play across the globe beginning January 24th and run throughout “HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTER’S” theatrical engagement.

Based on the best-selling HASBRO characters, this follow-up to the 2009 release of “G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA,” which grossed more than $300 million worldwide, is di Bonaventura production and is presented by Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with Hasbro.

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra, they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Elodie Yung, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner of Hasbro, from a screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick, based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe® characters.

“G.I. JOE: RETALIATION” is in theaters everywhere in the UK and Ireland on March 27th, 2013.

“HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS” stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as Hansel and Gretel, who, after getting a taste for blood as children, become the ultimate vigilantes, hell bent on retribution. Now, unbeknownst to them, Hansel and Gretel have become the hunted, and must face an evil far greater than witches… their past. In addition to Renner and Arterton, the film stars Famke Janssen and Peter Stormare. Written and directed by Tommy Wirkola and produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick and Beau Flynn.

New Trailer For ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation 3D’ Released

Featuring quite a bit of new footage and definitely more Channing Tatum, Paramount has released a brand new trailer for Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation 3D.

Sony Hires New Writer For ‘Masters Of The Universe’

Variety reports that Sony Pictures and Escape Artists have hired Richard Wenk (co-writer of The Expendables 2) to rewrite their He-Man pic, Masters Of The Universe. Alex Litvak and Mike Finch wrote the initial draft of the script, which was originally titled “Grayskull”.

Wenk has most recently penned the script for Sony’s The Equalizer, which is a big screen remake of the television series that will star Denzel Washington. He has also worked on many action-based scripts, so don’t worry about the action in this flick, which also include 16 Blocks and The Mechanic. Jon M. Chu (GI Joe: Retaliation) is set to direct the movie which “follows a young prince who becomes a warrior and sets out to defeat the evil Skeletor and fulfill his destiny as He-Man”. Let’s see if they can make a legit flick out of a somewhat cheesy property.

‘GI Joe: Retaliation’ Posters Give A First Look At RZA As Blind Master

Now while the movie has been pushed back it doesn’t mean they aren’t going to keep promoting it. You will most likely see these above display cases in Hasbro’s area at San Diego Comic-Con next week but we have a first glimpse at them including a first look at RZA as Blind Master.
