If you thought that ROBOCOP was too believable and MANIAC COP’s story was too easy to follow, then boy do the guys have a movie for you! This week, Adam throws the group into robot karate class with 1987’s inscrutable cyborg crimefighting cringer R.O.T.O.R. Unsure why all the strongly-worded suggestions against this pick went unheeded, Matt and Scott grasp at their fraying sanity as Adam teaches his mustache jujitsu. It’s about as 80s action cinema as you can get, so bring your C4 to the newest episode of Horror Movie Night!

I grew up in high school watching Machinima. Not just actual short movies made from game movies — the genre known as “machinima” — but the actual brand. I spent entire summer afternoons watching Red vs. Blue like any respectable teenager growing up in the mid-aughts, and Arby ‘n the Chief which was nothing more than a dude playing with Halo figures and making them talk with automated voices. I didn’t have a lot of sex in high school, clearly.

With the massive growth in streaming games and free-to-play MMO tournaments and gamer/geek culture as a whole, I shouldn’t be shocked at how much of a viable brand Machinima has actually become. Yet, I totally am.

Yesterday I attended their upfronts in midtown Manhattan. The booming music, the attractive part-time models serving finger foods, the open bar and the attendance of men and women who looked like they leaped off the pages of GQ and Details legitimately astounded me. It was a complete 180 from what I imagined the collective brand to actually be when I spent those lazy, adolescent days of mine on YouTube. I thought Machinima was just a really professional group of guys operating in a basement, with someone’s mom cooking spaghetti in the kitchen above. I couldn’t be more wrong.

Machinima is still barely second, maybe even third or fourth fiddle to the bigger online networks like Netflix or Hulu, but they have a targeted audience that neither of those major players have: the younger, gamer-centric millenial. While Netflix and Hulu attract a wider range demographic, Machinima are zeroed in on the gaming 16-25 year olds. There’s actually a small overlap with Generation Z, who are just now getting their first jobs at Dairy Queens everywhere.

Such major growth over the last ten years, combined with the current, Twitch-zeitgeist ripe for conquering via shorter, snappier content that is easier to consume than even Netflix (you can’t exactly watch House of Cards riding on a bus, but you can watch Super Power Beat Down), Machinima’s newest slate of orginal and returning programming will most certainly make stuffy, older industry leaders take notice.

The full press release is below, and I go a little in-depth with my impressions.

LOS ANGELES, CA, May 4, 2015 – Machinima’s debut at the Digital Content Newfronts was nothing short of “heroic.” The first global many2many programming service focused on fandom and gamer culture, Machinima unveiled a programming slate designed to elevate and celebrate a global community of gamer, comic and hero fans through the most innovative content on the Internet. Partnerships with Blue Ribbon Content and DC Entertainment,Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Clive Barker, Roberto Orci and Bunim/Murray Productions, along with some of Machinima’s leading creator talent, showcase Machinima’s commitment to developing content across all genres, formats and platforms.

“Fandom and gaming engenders so much passion and engagement; it’s a cultural shift uniquely connecting with the most valuable millennials,” said Chad Gutstein, Machinima’s CEO.  “It’s this deep connection to our audience that has made Machinima the ninth largest video entertainment platform in the United States, and the second most watched programmer on YouTube.  With our new slate, we are reminding our fans and our clients of one very important fact: Machinima is back!”

Machinima’s programming slate includes:

Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles Season 2

From visionary producer and animator Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series), Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles turns the DC Universe upside-down. In this dark, alternate world, telling the good guys from the bad guys is never easy: Superman is not the son of Jor-El, he’s the son of General Zod; Wonder Woman is not from peaceful Themyscira, but rather the warring nation of Ares; and Batman is more vampire-bat than man…and he’s not Bruce Wayne. It is unclear if our greatest heroes are here to protect us…or to rule us. With Season 1 set to launch in June, Machinima, Blue Ribbon Content and DC Entertainment have already begun development on Season 2, a 10-episode follow-up to the initial limited series.

This is probably the one project I’m most excited about. It’s a genuine Bruce Timm series that takes Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman in entirely new directions. Speaking to Timm (interview coming soon), he told me that the online distribution means they don’t have to abide by any broadcast standards and practices, and that Timm had more final say over these characters than even DC. Stay tuned for our interview later this week.

DC’s Hero Project

Machinima, Blue Ribbon Content, and DC Entertainment are setting out to discover the next great creator for the world of DC Comics.  Eight contestants compete in elimination challenges to develop a live-action short video based on their own interpretations of characters from DC Comics’ Starman comic book series. Well-known guest judges and celebrity special guests will join bestselling writer and DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and a panel of esteemed judges to oversee the entire competition.

They chose the semi-obscure Starman. With the proliferation of fan film projects hitting the web, it’s nice to DC actually embracing fan-creation culture and actually giving the OK for people to make expensive fanfiction.

#4Hero

A modern adaptation of DC Comics’ cult-favorite classic “Dial H For Hero”, #4Hero is a live-action, VFX-heavy action-comedy about a young woman named Nellie Tribble who is quietly desperate to make her mark on the world, but wholly unprepared to do so. Nellie stumbles upon a life-altering smartphone app that allows her to instantly become a Super Hero for a short amount of time. The problem is her super powers are dictated by whatever is trending on social media at that moment, and they are always only semi-useful.

Dial H For Hero is indeed a classic amongst a certain group of comic fans, but this one is so of the time I’m afraid at how dated it could actually become. The preview video referenced Katy Perry’s sharks from the Super Bowl, as an example.

Clive Barker’s Creepy Pasta

For the first time, horror legend Clive Barker is stepping away from the creatures of his own imagination and entering into the world of Internet horror fan fiction, affectionately known as Creepy Pasta.  Starting with viral urban legends (e.g. Jeff the Killer, Slender Man and Ben Drowned), Clive Barker’s Creepy Pasta is an original series of live-action, blood-curdling short films.  These new tales will be curated and adapted by Barker from submissions obtained through the creepypasta community, and produced by Machinima to scare you to your core.

The second thing I’m most excited about, and if it weren’t for Bruce Timm this would probably be my number one. I’ve always been fascinated with folklore, even in the age of the internet such stories survive and thrive in ways even sages around the campfire couldn’t imagine. They definitely highlighted Slenderman but he wasn’t the only story. I question the legalities of this, but no one really questions the legality of the Jersey Devil or Bloody Mary either. The logo looked a little cheap, but it also had the DIY aesthetic that these stories were bred from anyway, so not a big deal. Can’t wait.

RoboCop

“Dead or alive, you’re coming with me.” OCP’s Security Concepts Division’s RoboCop program is back in an all-new, short-form limited web series, based on Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s 1987 classic action film. RoboCop returns to Delta City where viewers ride along with the now standard-issue RoboCop officers as they respond to calls from dispatch. Tapping into current themes of the surveillance state, the series is shot from the first person point of view of the RoboCop officers’ heads up display, along with security cameras, dash-cams, and drones.

Literally COPS but with RoboCop officers.

Happy Wheels

“Choose your inadequately prepared racer, and ignore severe consequences in your desperate search for victory!”

                                                                        – Happy Wheels

Machinima will bring audiences an all-new original animated series based on Jim Bonacci’s hit online game Happy Wheels and produced by BMP Digital, the digital division of Bunim/Murray Productions (‘The Real World’, ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’). This must-see 10-episode short form series, which will feature fan-favorites such as Wheelchair Guy, Irresponsible Dad and Lawnmower Man, will expand upon the game that has more than 8 million players a month and showcase its notorious dark humor and penchant for blood and gore. Additionally, with over 3.1 billion video views amassed, BMP Digital is looking to leverage the voiceover talents of YouTube influencers such as Toby Turner (15.2M YouTube Subscribers, Cartoon Network’s The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange) and others who have made this game so iconic.

This is where Machinima began to lose me, despite being their target demo. The promo video was funny enough, but I didn’t play Happy Wheels and it’s supposed to be a dark satire cartoon. They didn’t show too much beyond actual game footage, so I’m still kind of confused as to what the final product will look like.

Jerome ASF’s The Baka Chronicles

Adding to the gaming fervor, Machinima’s iconic Minecrafter Jerome ASF (3.6M YouTube Subscribers), will be teaming with N00b Adventure creator Jim Schwerfeger for an all-new series – The Baka Chronicles. Featuring Jerome ASF’s most beloved character, Baka, the series follows two unlikely server admins who problem-solve the hilarious antics of griefers, trolls, and kids who wreak havoc across their favorite multiplayer Minecraft server. Little do our heroes realize this job is a massive headache.

Out of all the projects announced by Machinima, this one is actually machinima. Can’t say I’m too interested, and the title reeks of weeaboo (which is the point, I guess). It’s a Minecraft series in the same sense that Red vs. Blue was a Halo show. There is an untapped market for kids and Minecraft, and while The Baka Chronicles could skew older, they’re missing out on a lucrative 9-12 year-old demo on broadcast.

Also, the presentation made it clear that their audience totally gets it. These upfronts are attended by much older, wealthy executives who totally don’t understand young gamers who are much like their own nieces and nephews. During a brief preview of an episode, one character literally stopped to jump in front of the character and (in a goofy, dumb bear voice) told the brand execs that while you don’t understand these jokes, our fans do. “So give us your money,” he told them, and everyone laughed semi-uncomfortably.

 High School 51

Created and produced by Roberto Orci (Transformers, Amazing Spider-Man 2, Star Trek, Sleepy Hollow, Lost, Fringe) and Legion of Creatives, and starring Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hollow, Tainted Love, Drumline, MADtv), High School 51 is as out of this world as the name implies.

Hidden away in the heart of Area 51, Dream Lake High School is filled with mind-blowing technology, top-secret government programs and a student body that is cool, quirky, attractive, and…well, alien.  No one from the outside has ever been allowed into the school and no human has ever attended…until now.

For 16-year old Alex Valencia, the first and only human ever to attend Dream Lake, high school is going to be tough. Fitting in will be one thing but his biggest challenge just might be saving the human race!

I spoke to Orlando Jones about this series so be prepared for the interview later this week. I can’t get too excited at the name Roberto Orci (during the announcement, Power Rangers was curiously mentioned amongst Orci’s credits) but the brief preview we saw looked intriguing and fun enough. It’s evocative of Roswell and Smallville, but for a very current audience that’s fully tapping in to the mainstream geek culture in ways that Roswell only accidentally attracted.

It’s definitely an Orci product though, as that man can’t get enough of government conspiracies.

 Returning Series

Additionally, Machinima is announcing the return of some of its most popular shows including AFK, Chasing The Cup, Realm, Battlefield FriendsSanity Not Included, Deck Wars, and ETC.

Stay tuned for the interviews with Bruce Timm and Orlando Jones later this week.

As promised, one of my Miami Vice artists, Mr. Carl Reed, was in town this week to shoot some promotional videos with me for our upcoming book… so why not have him on an episode of Geekscape to talk comics!?! In this episode, we not only talk about and review the ‘RoboCop’ remake but Carl also talks about his creative process, how deep his love of comic books really goes and what properties he would like to see adapted into a comic. Plus! Is there a way to expand the comic book market through female readers? Will they ever buy comics? And we also give some hints on an upcoming Miami Vice project that we have yet to reveal!

Briefly: We’re just a couple of weeks away from finally seeing José Padilha’s Robocop remake, and Sony Pictures has just debuted a new featurette that digs into the film’s bad-ass, all-star cast… and also made me realize that Gary Oldman is in it (how did I miss that).

I’m still skeptical of the feature (of course). The trailers have been very cool, but I’m definitely afraid of another Total Recall happening. In any case, today’s featurette showcases some cool new footage, and as skeptical as I am, it’s hard not to be excited as well.

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! Are you looking forward to the Robocop remake?

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

Briefly: We’re just a few weeks away from finally seeing José Padilha’s Robocop remake, and Sony has just debuted an awesome IMAX poster for the film.

I’m still skeptical of the feature; the trailers have looked very cool, but I’m definitely afraid of another Total Recall occurrence. In any case, today’s poster is probably the coolest one yet, and I know that I’ll be lining up on February 12th.

We also talk about Star Wars comics leaving Dark Horse for Marvel and what it means to the Star Wars Extended Universe! CES is going on and the big news is Michael Bay bombing and the Steam Machines impressing! Plus, Matt Reeves is directing the third Planet of the Apes movie and the Robocop reboot gets not so impressive video game trailer! Briefly: Glu Mobile has just released the trailer for the official Robocop tie-in game.

The title is a free-to-play third-person shooter, and aside from some pointy graphics, actually looks like it could be fun. The title is available now for iOS, and is coming soon to Android.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be checking it out! Are you looking forward to Robocop’s release next month?

Briefly: A new international trailer for next year’s Robocop has just debuted online.

The video delves deeper into the journey of Alex Murphy, and features plenty of footage that we haven’t seen yet. The remake stars The Killing lead Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, who is, well, a cop that is fatally injured and is then turned into a robot.

I wasn’t really expecting too much from this remake, but seeing that first trailer definitely raised my hope for the picture. I have to say that this second preview has raised it even further! I didn’t think a new Robocop could be cool, but Joel Kinnaman certainly looks bad-ass in the role. Then again, the new Total Recall looked pretty fantastic too… and we all know how that one turned out (bad).

Destin Pfeff and Rachel Federoff are best known as castmembers of the reality show ‘Millionaire Matchmaker’, but they’re actually huge, passionate geeks. This episode, they bring to Geekscape their specific sense of style, educate me on the ins and outs of Cyberlesque and talk about growing up geeks. Destin gives his opinions on the new Robocop trailer and we discuss the plus and minuses of Hollywood remakes. Also, what advice would they give to geeks out there, searching for some love? Plus! Briefly: Following the impressive first trailer released last weeek, Columbia Pictures has just debuted a slick new poster for José Padilha’s Robocop remake.

It’s the same black suit that we saw in the trailer, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t look gorgeously contrasted on that white background. Take a look at the image below, and let us know what you think!

Boom! Studios has announced a new RoboCop series that will launch this August!

Frank Miller and Steven Grant will write the series, while Korkut Öztekin, and Declan Shalvey will provide the artwork.

No further information has been revealed about the book, titled RoboCop: Last Stand, but we’ll definitely keep you updated on this one! It’s been some time since we’ve seen anything from Miller, and he of course has his own history with the RoboCop series: Miller wrote a draft for RoboCop 2 that was never produced (though was later adapted into a comic), and was also credited with cowriting RoboCop 3.

What do you think of this news? Will you pick up Last Stand?

Sony Pictures has chosen to move the release date for Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi flick Elysium to August 9, 2013. That spot was up until today the release date for one of their other big releases, Jose Padhila’s RoboCop, which has been moved back to February 7, 2014. That August date is roughly around the same time that Sony released Blomkamp’s first feature District 9 back in 2009.

District 9 went on to gross $37.4 million on opening weekend and went on to bring in roughyl $200M-plus worldwide. Sony definitely has high expectations for Elysium which was originally set to hit theaters in March. This is actually a smart move on Sony’s part in regards to both films. It will allow Elysium to bring in more of that summer box office money while the RoboCop team is given more time to market and test the film and possibly go back for re-shoots if needed. So, uh by the way…when should we expect to actually see that Elysium trailer Sony?

With an updated suit to make him move faster…why wouldn’t they give Murphy a new ride to match? Some set photos have emerged giving us a first glance at Murphy’s new motorcycle from RoboCop.

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

RoboCop is set to hit theaters August 9th, 2013.

New set photos from the set of RoboCop provide an even better look at the new suit as well as a shot of Michael Keaton on set and what looks like RoboCop being used to deal with a protest. Personally, I love the look of the new suit and can’t wait for this movie. Check out the new images below.

There are definitely quite a few movies that I am looking forward to next year and one on the top of my list is Jose Padhila’s remake of RoboCop. In a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune, recent cast addition Aimee Garcia (Dexter)  revealed a little bit about the plot of the film.

“Almost all my scenes are with Gary Oldman. It’s a dream come true. I play Kim. She’s a scientist and her and Gary Oldman help bring Robocop to life. … She has a Ph.D from MIT and is at the forefront of robotic chemistry and physics. This takes place in 2028. She’s a prodigy handpicked by Gary Oldman’s character to work on this first of its kind experiment.

I’ve watched more tech talks than I ever have in my life. I’ve learned so much about the brain. The technical things this girl has to say, I want to make sure I understand what each and everything is. She might be a little bit of a punk too.”

I actually like what I have been hearing about them replacing the team from the original with Gary Oldman and Garcia’s character. It feels like they are going to be the reason behind Alex Murphy holding on to some of his humanity.

In a crime-ridden city, a fatally wounded cop returns to the force as a powerful cyborg with submerged memories haunting him.

RoboCop returns to serve and protect August 9, 2013.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Aimee Garcia, who you may know best for joining the cast of Dexter last season as Jamie Batista, is the most recent addition to the cast of Jose Padilha’s remake, Garcia will be playing “a scientist who helps put together the RoboCop with his creator, played by Gary Oldman.” She joins a quite impressive cast for what is sure to be one of the biggest movies of next year.

RoboCop returns to serve and protect on August 9th, 2013.

Just earlier today set photos leaked online from RoboCop giving a first look at the new suit. So, I am going to go ahead and say this and I await the backlash. But the new RoboCop suit is fucking bad ass in my opinion. Well, one of the new suits that is being that there is more than one in the movie. Remember that part guys. Here’s an even better look at the new suit as well as some more set photos including the first look at his new car thanks the guys at Bleeding Cool.

An up close look at the suit:

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

RoboCop is hitting theaters August of 2013.

RoboCop production hit Toronto today, and with the first day of filming in the big smoke comes a couple of cool set photos. We also get our first look at the redesigned suit!

RoboCop is set to release on August 9th, 2013. It features quite the cast, with the likes of Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michal Keaton, Samuel Jackson, Clive Owen, and more involved.

What do you think of the suit? Looks a little Dark Knighty to me, but it will certainly be cool to see it in motion.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that talent agent and manager to actors such as Gary Oldman, Douglas Urbanski has joined the cast of MGM’s RoboCop. But this isn’t Urbanski’s first time acting. You also may remember him from The Social Network where he played ‘Larry Summers’, the president of Harvard. Apparently he was offered the role of the mayor of Detroit directly from the director Jose Padhila.

“I think every agent, every manager should do this to see what the other side is like. This way, they will never think a client is crazy when they get a call from the set with crazy demands.”

Urbanski will be joining Joel Kinnaman, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish and Michael Keaton in the upcoming remake. RoboCop is set to hit theaters August 9th, 2013.

MGM has found their replacement for Hugh Laurie as the villain in their upcoming remake  of Robocop. While it was rumored for a bit that we may see Clive Owen fill the role, another actor has signed on. Probably known best in the geek community for playing Batman in the Tim Burton films, Academy Award winning actor Michael Keaton has joined the cast of RoboCop. He will play Raymond Sellers, the villainous head of Omni Corp. Director Jose Padilha stated:

“Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place. It is thrilling that everything has come together to bring this innovative new vision of RoboCop to life. We’ve got a great script, a great cast, some killer ED-209’s and I can’t wait to get Alex Murphy back on the streets.”

The actor will star opposite Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) and a very impressive cast that also features Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman and many other fine actors. Production is set to start next month on the film with RoboCop scheduled to hit theaters August 9th, 2013.

Last night news broke that talks with actor Hugh Laurie (House) to join the cast of Robocop had ceased. Laurie was originally set to play the movies villain as head of OMNI CORP. Well, just as I stated last we are going to be getting our first word of the other actors who many step into the role. In Deadline’s report regarding Laurie’s dropping out they mention that the studio already has a short list of actors to replace him. But the only actor who they share on the list is Clive Owen (Children Of Men).

There’s currently no word on whether or not Owen is the front runner for the role but with production set to begin next month we should definitely expect an announcement very soon. Clive Owen is a fantastic actor and I would actually prefer to see him in this one over Laurie. So, what are your thoughts?

A little over a month ago reports came in that Hugh Laurie (House) would be joining the cast of Robocop. Well, it appears that those reports came in a little premature. The actor was in talks to play “the evil and ultra-rich CEO of Omnicorp, the company that makes Robocop.” Well, I am sure many will be disappointed to hear that talks have ceased and Laurie will not be appearing in the film. Variety’s Jeff Sneider tweeted earlier:

MGM RUMOR #1: While he was never officially confirmed, sources telling Variety that HUGH LAURIE has ended talks to play villain in ROBOCOP.

While this may appear to be bad news for the film to some…to others this will be great news. I do like Laurie as an actor but I do think they can possibly find a more menacing actor to play the role. With production set to start next month I am sure we will get news regarding this role very shortly.

Reports are coming in that Michael Kenneth Williams (Boardwalk Empire) is in negotiations to join the cast of Sony’s upcoming remake of Robocop. The movie is getting ready to go into production next month and has already compiled a pretty impressive cast and director. If he joins the cast Williams will play the partner to Kinnaman’s police officer Alex Murphy who is tight with Murphy’s family. This could mean that the character would be a replacement to the Officer Anne Lewis character from the original that was portrayed by Nancy Allen.

Mike Jensen is an awesome concept artist who has recently done some designs for the upcoming reboot of Robocop. These pictures were posted on his official homepage but were taken down quite quickly. Hmmm. Thanks to the people over at  Robocop Archive, we might have our first look at some of the early designs of the new Robocop. Keep in mind that these are definitely NOT the final designs being that concept art usually changes from the final design and we have been told that we will see Alex Murphy’s eyes unlike in the original. While I am sure many will scream “No!” to these keep in mind as I stated that these are most likely early concept art which always differs from the final version. Plus I have complete faith in director Jose Padilha with this project.

AMC has decided not to renew The Killing for a third season. The show, which recently wrapped up its second season, followed the police investigation of the murder of a young girl. It was based on the Danish series of the same name. The first season was a hit but had fans crying out over the season finale. Season two sadly never regained the ratings of the first season. AMC and Fox TV Studios, producer of the show, both released statements.

The first season is available on Netflix instant streaming and I highly recommend it. I got hooked on it after fellow writer Shawn Madden suggested it to me. As much as I enjoyed the show I think it ending after two seasons was the right call. Season one was great and while I enjoyed the second season, it did seem to stretch things out as far as logic went. I did however really like the way they ended the series, the reveal of the killer was shocking and the series ended on a high note. The shows leads Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman both were fantastic in it though. It would seem that neither actor is hurting for work. Enos will next be seen in Gangster Squad and World War Z, while Kinnaman will bust his way onto screens as the new Robocop.

AMC’s press statement:

“After much deliberation, we’ve come to the difficult decision not to renew ‘The Killing’ for a third season.  AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast.”

Fox TV Studios press statement:

“Fox Television Studios is extremely proud of ‘The Killing,’ the extraordinary writing staff and crew, and what we believe is one of the best casts on television. We will proceed to try to find another home for the show.”
