Briefly: Netflix made millions of fans very happy last November when they announced that they were resurrecting (again, they also co-produced season 3) The Killing for an abbreviated, 6-episode final season.

Now we’re less than a month away from its bittersweet (because it’ll be the end, though we’re still so thankful that it’s happening) launch, and Netflix has launched the trailer for the upcoming episodes.

I’m a huge fan of the show, and after season three’s insane conclusion, I can’t wait to see how things wrap up. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you hope to see next month!

Briefly: Netflix made millions of fans very happy last November when they announced that they were resurrecting (again, they also co-produced season 3) The Killing for an abbreviated, 6-episode final season.

Now, they’ve announced just when we’ll be able to watch it.

Here’s the (tiny, footageless) teaser that announces the premiere date:

I’ve loved the series thus far, and am extremely excited that Netflix is making another season. What do you hope to see? Will you be binge-watching on August 1st?

Briefly: Remember when The Killing was cancelled, and then resurrected for an awesome third season, and then cancelled again?

Well, it seems as though The Killing just won’t stay dead, as the series has just received a six-episode final season order. Awesome news, right?

This time however, the series won’t be on AMC. Instead, the amazing folks over at Netflix are taking the reins to craft the final episodes. Seasons one through three are now available for streaming on the service, and if you haven’t seen it, I’d highly recommend it.

Take a look at the full press release below, and let us know how excited you are! We’ll be sure to share more info as soon as it’s available!

Netflix has ordered a fourth and final limited season that will serve as a conclusion for “The Killing,” exclusively for its over 40 million members worldwide. The 6-episode series finale, from Fox Television Studios (FTVS), will be available only to Netflix streaming members to watch instantly in all Netflix territories.

“The rich, serialized storytelling in ‘The Killing’ thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder a proper send off,” said Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix. “We are looking forward to offering fans – both existing and new – a series that we know is perfectly suited for on-demand viewing.”

David Madden, president, Fox Television Studios, commented, “It’s a true testament to ‘The Killing’ creator Veena Sud, and the stellar cast led so compellingly by Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, that fans remained so passionate about the show. We’re gratified that our partners at Netflix recognized this, and are giving us the opportunity to complete the story in a way that will be satisfying to our loyal audience.”

The first three seasons of “The Killing” are now available to stream globally on Netflix.

Briefly: The Killing fans (which I definitely am one of), you had to have seen this one coming.

AMC has announced their decision not to renew acclaimed crime drama The Killing for a fourth season. This, of course, is the second time that the series has been cancelled, the first time being after a steady ratings fall during the show’s second season.

The network states that “Fox Television Studios is extremely proud of all three seasons of The Killing. We’re especially gratified to have orchestrated a unique deal with AMC for season three that included a bold partnership with Netflix. While we would have loved to produce a fourth season for AMC, FTVS is immensely grateful to everyone involved with this moving series: our brilliant cast, led by Mireille Enos, Joel Kinnaman and season three’s Peter Sarsgaard, our stellar executive producer, Veena Sud, a remarkable writing and producing team, and a tireless, dedicated crew. Most of all, FTVS thanks the terrific fans of The Killing, who communicated their appreciation for the show throughout its run.”

It’s sad news for sure, especially after watching the fantastic almost-didn’t-happen third season. At least the show was resurrected once though, right?

Did you enjoy the series? Sound out below!

I was insanely disappointed when AMC announced that they wouldn’t be renewing The Killing for a third season. I sat on the edge of my seat for every single frame of the show’s first two years, and when Rosie Larsen’s killer was finally revealed… I couldn’t have been more satisfied (or surprised). I still talk about it frequently, and I’ve lost count of how many individuals I’ve turned on to the show.

Then, in an amazing turn of events, The Killing was resurrected! The third season has been creeping up on us for some time now, and today, with just a few weeks to go until the season premiere, AMC has released an awesome new TV spot.

Things look a lot different this season, and I can’t wait. Watch the new spot below, and let us know what you think! Season 3 of The Killing premieres on June 2nd!

Premiering its 3rd season Sunday, June 2nd at 8/7c on AMC, “The Killing” stars Mireille Enos (World War Z) and Joel Kinnaman (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). A year after closing the Rosie Larsen case, Sarah Linden is no longer a detective. But when her ex-partner Stephen Holder’s search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that connects to a previous murder investigation by Linden, she is drawn back into the life she thought she’d left behind.

After being cancelled, rumoured to return for months, and finally (finally) renewed, the anticipated return of AMC’s The Killing is just over a month away!

Linden and Holder return to television on June 2nd, and this time there’s a serial killer on the loose. EW showed off a revealing new poster for the show’s third season today, and it would appear that our favourite crime fighting duo is up against something very different this year.

Check out the new poster below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to The Killing‘s return!

TheKilling

Detectives Linden (Mirielle Enos) and Holder (Joel Kinnaman) will be returning with a new case when AMC’s The Killing returns this June. A short teaser has been released for the back-from-the-dead series. It doesn’t give away much of what to expect but definitely does build up anticipation for the return of the hit series.

This season takes place one year after the conclusion of the Rosie Larsen case (the events of the first two seasons). Sarah Linden is brought back into her detective work when the investigation into a runaway girl leads Stephen Holder to discover a string of murders, which connects to previous murder case Linden worked on.

The Killing returns Sunday June 2nd on AMC.

I love The Killing. The two season long murder mystery was a breath of fresh air that the crime drama genre desperately needed. The series was well written, shocking, disturbing, and addicting, and I was very disappointed when AMC announced that they would not be renewing it for a third season.

Then things looked like they were about to turn around: AMC wasn’t opposed to letting another network take over, and Netflix was in talks to produce a third season. We reported earlier this month that the show was set to return, but very few details were know at that time.

Variety has confirmed that The Killing is indeed returning for a third season, and as was rumoured, on AMC itself! Netflix appears to still be in final talks for streaming rights, but the season should find its way to the service shortly after it concludes. Writers are back to work, with production scheduled to begin in just a few months for a probable May premiere. There’s no word yet on which cast members will return, though I’m sure Joel Kinnaman and Mereille Enos are a top priority.

If you haven’t seen the show, I’d wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. I’m extremely excited for the series to return, and will most definitely be tuning in. Check out a trailer for the show below, and let me know what you think!

The Killing is returning months after AMC cancelled the drama series following the second season. Deadline reports that producer Fox TV Studios is currently working out a deal with Netflix to bring the show back from the dead. We’ll see AMC team up with Netflix for the third season, AMC will be airing the episodes first before they hit Netflix.

It’s no surprise that with the stars of the show, Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, breaking out that they’d want to continue on with the series. The series may have taken a drop during season two after viewers became frustrated by them dragging out the first case over two seasons…but Linden and Holder will be back for those who stuck around and wanted more.

Enos and Kinnaman are contractually obligated to return for season three, even though they’ve both been pretty busy at the moment. Enos has World War Z hitting theaters next year and Kinnaman is currently shooting RoboCop. We’ll keep you updated on this one for sure. If you haven’t watched this series do yourself a favor and catch up. Season one is available to stream on Netflix and you definitely won’t be disappointed.

It’s a happy day for DISH subscribers (finally). As many of you know, an ongoing legal battle between the television service provider and popular network AMC has left the channel off the roster for nearly six months. The lawsuit has now been settled, with a 700 million dollar payment headed AMC’s way. The channel (and its affiliates) will resume airing on DISH tonight!

AMC is an extremely popular network. It’s the home of shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and The Walking Dead. People were (understandably) pretty upset when the corporate disagreement began, as it meant they would have to resort to other means to watch their favourite shows. AMC was nice enough to stream the premieres of their biggest shows, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead online for the customers that would be missing out (though what about the rest of the season!?)

As the battle proceeded, DISH maintained that the dispute was over carriage fees, while AMC stated it was due to a broken contract.

In any case, welcome back DISH subscribers! Are you ready to get your Walking Dead on tonight?

AMC has decided not to renew The Killing for a third season. The show, which recently wrapped up its second season, followed the police investigation of the murder of a young girl. It was based on the Danish series of the same name. The first season was a hit but had fans crying out over the season finale. Season two sadly never regained the ratings of the first season. AMC and Fox TV Studios, producer of the show, both released statements.

The first season is available on Netflix instant streaming and I highly recommend it. I got hooked on it after fellow writer Shawn Madden suggested it to me. As much as I enjoyed the show I think it ending after two seasons was the right call. Season one was great and while I enjoyed the second season, it did seem to stretch things out as far as logic went. I did however really like the way they ended the series, the reveal of the killer was shocking and the series ended on a high note. The shows leads Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman both were fantastic in it though. It would seem that neither actor is hurting for work. Enos will next be seen in Gangster Squad and World War Z, while Kinnaman will bust his way onto screens as the new Robocop.

AMC’s press statement:

“After much deliberation, we’ve come to the difficult decision not to renew ‘The Killing’ for a third season.  AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast.”

Fox TV Studios press statement:

“Fox Television Studios is extremely proud of ‘The Killing,’ the extraordinary writing staff and crew, and what we believe is one of the best casts on television. We will proceed to try to find another home for the show.”

In a bit of casting news that will definitely increase interest in this film. According to THR Gary Oldman has joined the cast of Jose Padilha’s remake of the classic sci-fi, Robocop. The site has reported that the actor will play a character called “Norton”

Oldman will play Norton, the scientist who creates Robocop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation.

If memory serves me correct there was no Norton in the original. So it looks like they are altering the origins just a bit here.

Oldman joins The Killing actor Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy.  Kinnaman (The Killing) plays the title character, a cop named Alex Murphy who is brought back from the brink of death and turned into a cyborg police officer. No other cast members have been revealed yet but there has been quite a few big names rumored to be involved such as Edward Norton and Sean Penn. The movie has tentative release of Summer 2013 and is eyeing a September shoot.

Sony Pictures has officially signed on to distribute MGM’s Robocop remake. This deal is only the latest in the relationship with Sony and MGM with previous partnerships involving ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo‘ and ‘Zookeeper.’

The film is being directed by Jose Padilha, whose previous credits are the brazillian film series, “The Elite Squad” and the documentary, “Secrets of the Tribe.” The lead role of Robocop, formerly played by Peter Weller, now stars Joel Kinnaman as the main lead, his most recently starring in ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and the AMC TV Series, ‘The Killing‘.

One more interesting note, the script of Robocop was written by Joshua Zetumer, whose most recent work was the draft script for the now defunct remake of Dune. With these sort of people working on the film, Robocop is shaping up into a decent film at least, though time will tell if the film will be as memorable as the original.

The first major casting news in MGM’s remake of Robocop has surfaced from Deadline.com, and it looks like actor Joel Kinnaman is being offered the lead in director Jose Padilha’s reboot of the beloved series. Joel who you say? Well, Joel Kinnaman has been featured in a few high profile projects lately, like AMC’s The Killing and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But he hardly has the recognizability of earlier rumored leads like Michael C. Hall from Dexter. Then again, When Paul Verhoeven’s original Robocop was released back in 1987, star Peter Weller was best known for  being  in The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai….oh, and for pinning an 11 year old Corey Haim against a wall in fit of rage during filming of the movie Firstborn (seriously, he did…Google that shit,) So in casting an relative unknown for the part of Robocop, MGM might be hoping that lighting strikes twices.

Does this man have the jawline for Robocop?
