Briefly: In case the recently launched (and awesome) Bioshock: The Collection isn’t quite your style, if you’re an Xbox One owner, you now have another option.

Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite are now all backwards compatible on Xbox One. This means that if you’ve got the games on your Microsoft account, or if you’ve got the discs laying around, you now have an opportunity to replay these classic titles.

Larry Hryb revealed the additions on his Twitter account earlier today, and as someone who hasn’t had an opportunity to pick up The Collection, but has the first game on my Microsoft account, I’m more than happy to be sharing this news.

Reminisce in the original Bioshock launch trailer below, and let us know if you plan to replay the titles!

Briefly: It’s finally here!

If you’ve missed out on the Bioshock series for this long, you’d be crazy not to pick up Bioshock: The Collection for your Xbox One or PS4.

Hell, I can’t wait to pick up the damned thing, and I’ve played through each game multiple times.

For the collection, each title (Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite) has been remastered in full 1080p (and they look pretty slick), and also include all of the single player DLC, and “a never-before-seen video series, “Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock.” You can even pick up golden reels in order to unlock the secrets behind Rapture.

The collection is available right now for PS4 and Xbox One, and PC players can pick it up this Thursday! Take a look at the nostalgic launch trailer below, and be sure to let us know if you plan to pick it up!

Briefly: It was rumoured forever before finally being made official back in June.

Today, 2K Games gives us another quick look at next month’s Bioshock: The Collection, which hits Xbox One, PS4, and PC on September 13th for a cool $59.99.

Each title (Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite) has been remastered in full 1080p (and they look pretty slick), and also include all of the single player DLC, and “a never-before-seen video series, “Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock.”

As a huge (yuge) fan of the series who would buy almost anything that has a Bioshock logo on it, you better believe I’m excited for this one. I haven’t played through Bioshock Infinite since it first released, and I think I’m about due to head through that campaign once again.

2K today debuted a brand new trailer for the title, which you can take a look at below. Again, be sure to let us know if you’ll be picking it up!

UPDATE: 2K Games has officially announced Bioshock: The Collection for PS4, Xbox One, and PC!

The collection will release on September 13th, include Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite, plus all of the single player DLC, and “a never-before-seen video series, “Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock.”

All this, for a cool $59.99.

Briefly: It seems like there have been rumours of the Bioshock series making the jump to the Xbox One and PS4 since the current generation of consoles was released back in 2013.

After what feels like eons, the rumours appear to be rumours no more, as Bioshock: The Collection leaked briefly today on 2K Games’ own website (this follows an ESRB leak earlier this year).

While we still don’t know much about the collections, it is said that it will contain Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite.

You can take a first look at the game’s cover and key art below, and we’ll be sure to share more news when 2K makes it official!

Briefly: Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea is finally set to conclude today, and Irrational Games has just debuted the launch trailer for the anticipated DLC.

Sadly, it’s also the final release that we’ll see from the now-closed developer. Ken Levine announced back in February that the studio would be shutting down, making today bittersweet day, as the studio was responsible for some of the best games of this generation.

Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be playing today. The DLC will be available as soon as the respectable stores are updated.

Briefly: We’re just five days away from the anticipated release of Bioshock Infinite: Burial At Sea‘s second chapter, and Irrational Games has release a trio of new screenshots for the DLC.

In the shots, we see more of Rapture’s innate beauty, and also Elizabeth, looking extremely battered and bloody.

Take a look at the new screenshots below, and let us know what you hope to see in the DLC! Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea – Episode 2 releases on March 25th!

Burial3

Briefly: Ken Levine surprised all of us last month when he announced the closure of the acclaimed Irrational Games.

Irrational’s last project, the closing chapter to the Bioshock Infinite story DLC, Burial at Sea, will launch on March 25th (and I’m really looking forward to it). Irrational today launched a new promo for the chapter, which has (now ex) team members sharing their favourite moments of working on the DLC.

It’s a touching video, and many of the developers look truly heartbroken to be participating in what is basically a ‘looking for work’ ad. I sure hope that each and every one of them finds a new home soon.

Take a look at the promo below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the DLC.

Briefly: Irrational Games is no more.

Studio head Ken Levine is sticking with 2K, along with 15 other Irrational employees, but unfortunately everyone else will be in need of work. It seems crazy to shut down a team responsible for creating some of the best games this generation, but alas, it’s happening.

Here’s the full release, straight from Ken Levine:

When Jon Chey, Rob Fermier and I founded Irrational Games seventeen years ago, our mission was to make visually unique worlds and populate them with singular characters.

We built Rapture and Columbia, the Von Braun and The Rickenbacker, the Freedom Fortress and some of the nastiest basements a SWAT team ever set foot into. We created Booker and Elizabeth, the Big Daddy and the Little Sister, MidWives and ManBot. In that time, Irrational has grown larger and more successful than we could have conceived when we began our three-person studio in a living room in Cambridge, MA. It’s been the defining project of my professional life.

Now Irrational Games is about to roll out the last DLC for BioShock Infinite and people are understandably asking: What’s next?

Seventeen years is a long time to do any job, even the best one. And working with the incredible team at Irrational Games is indeed the best job I’ve ever had. While I’m deeply proud of what we’ve accomplished together, my passion has turned to making a different kind of game than we’ve done before. To meet the challenge ahead, I need to refocus my energy on a smaller team with a flatter structure and a more direct relationship with gamers. In many ways, it will be a return to how we started: a small team making games for the core gaming audience.

I am winding down Irrational Games as you know it. I’ll be starting a smaller, more entrepreneurial endeavor at Take-Two. That is going to mean parting ways with all but about fifteen members of the Irrational team. There’s no great way to lay people off, and our first concern is to make sure that the people who are leaving have as much support as we can give them during this transition.

Besides financial support, the staff will have access to the studio for a period of time to say their goodbyes and put together their portfolios. Other Take-Two studios will be on hand to discuss opportunities within the company, and we’ll be hosting a recruiting day where we’ll be giving 3rd party studios and publishers a chance to hold interviews with departing Irrational staff.*

What’s next?

In time we will announce a new endeavor with a new goal: To make narrative-driven games for the core gamer that are highly replayable. To foster the most direct relationship with our fans possible, we will focus exclusively on content delivered digitally.

When I first contemplated what I wanted to do, it became very clear to me that we were going to need a long period of design. Initially, I thought the only way to build this venture was with a classical startup model, a risk I was prepared to take. But when I talked to Take-Two about the idea, they convinced me that there was no better place to pursue this new chapter than within their walls. After all, they’re the ones who believed in and supported BioShock in the first place.

Thanks to Irrational and 2K’s passion in developing the games, and the fans who believe in it, BioShock has generated retail revenues of over a half billion dollars and secured an iconic place in gaming. I’m handing the reins of our creation, the BioShock universe, to 2K so our new venture can focus entirely on replayable narrative. If we’re lucky, we’ll build something half as memorable as BioShock.

We will do our best to update an FAQ in this space as questions come in.

Briefly: Today, Irrational Games revealed just when we’ll finally be able to play the second and concluding chapter of Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea.

The episode will launch globally on Steam, PS3, and Xbox 360 on March 25th. As before, the DLC will cost $14.99 on all platforms (but you should have just purchased the $19.99 season pass instead.

The main criticism that players had with Burial at Seas first chapter was that it was simply too short. The campaign could be completed in around two hours (which many stated did not warrant a $14.99 purchase). Ken Levine revealed on twitter yesterday that the next episode will be significantly longer:

So, did you enjoy the first chapter? Are you looking forward to the second? Did you watch the first three minutes of what happens next? Sound out below!

Episode2

Briefly: Again, the video below definitely contains spoilers for the first episode of Burial at Sea. If you haven’t played, don’t watch!

Irrational Games has just debuted a first look at episode two of their Bioshock Infinite DLC, Buried at Sea. We already knew that episode two would have us playing as Elizabeth, but after the end of episode one, we were all left wondering just how things were going to work out.

It’s hard to say more without getting too spoilery, so just take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think. Burial at Sea – Episode Two is still without a release date, but as the video says, it’s ‘Coming Soon’, and you know that we can’t wait for it.

Briefly: Finally, finally, finally.

First teased all the way back in July, the first chapter of Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea launches today for Xbox 360, PS3, Windows, and OS X.

Irrational Games has just debuted a launch trailer for the DLC, which has me frantically refreshing the Playstation Store, waiting for it to appear. Bioshock Infinite has been one of my favourite titles on 2013, and I simply cannot wait to see Booker and Elizabeth in Andrew Ryan’s Rapture.

Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know if you plan on playing today! Burial at Sea – Episode One costs a cool $14.99 (though you should probably just pick up the season pass for $19.99, which will include the second chapter).

On the eve of Rapture’s fall from grace, Elizabeth enlists Booker DeWitt’s services in locating a lost girl. Who is this girl Sally, what does Booker know of her supposed fate, and what is Elizabeth’s connection to this mysterious child? Find the answers to these questions and more in this new addition to BioShock Infinite, almost entirely from scratch by Irrational Games.

Briefly: After showing us the DLC’s first five minutes earlier this month, Irrational Games has revealed just when we’ll be able to get our hands on Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea.

The first episode in the two-part Burial At Sea will launch on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Windows, and OS X on November 12th. The DLC costs a cool $14,99, though it’s probably a better idea to just buy the Season Pass for $19.99 which will also include episode two (plus the already released Clash in the Clouds DLC).

If you’re unaware, Burial at Sea takes Booker and Elizabeth (unbeknownst to their previous relationship) all the way down to Rapture on its fateful day, December 31, 1958. This, of course, is the night that Rapture fell, and is a night that hasn’t yet been explored in the series. Here, we’re set to live it. You’ll join Booker and Elizabeth in a film noir-style story that places them in a shining, pristine Rapture on the eve of its fall from grace. Explore the underwater city, try your hand at a grift or two, and even encounter some old “friends” from the original BioShock.

“This is a love letter to the fans, but it’s also the beginning of a story that will give gamers a new perspective on theBioShock universe,” said Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games. “With Burial at Sea, we built a Rapture not from BioShock and BioShock Infinite scraps and pieces, but with environments almost entirely crafted from scratch.”

Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Rewatch the Burial at Sea reveal trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be downloading the DLC!

Briefly: Irrational Games has debuted a sweet, sweet, five minute preview of the highly anticipated Bioshock Infinite DLC, Burial at Sea.

The first episode of Burial at Sea is set to release sometime before the end of the year. The five-minute preview provides a great introduction to the episode, but be warned: watching will make the wait that much harder.

Take a look at the opening five minutes below (if you dare), and let us know if you’re looking forward to it!

Briefly: I’d love to see a modern remake of Logan’s Run. Sadly, it really doesn’t seem like that’s ever going to happen.

In an interview with Twitchfilm, the most recent director attached to the project, Drive‘s Nicolas Winding Refn revealed the the remake (or at least his version) is dead:

It’s dead as dead can be. It’s a great shame but I realised a couple of things. I was so in love with the original that I think I was disillusioned by the fact that if I made a remake I would be closer to the original, I would be part of the original more than any other, and I realised that that was a lie. That was illusion. It wouldn’t be like that. And also if I was going to make a $100 or $200 million movie, and trade off my creative freedom for that price, it needed to be something that was going to outweigh that loss. Because at the same time I’m very lucky to be able to make the films I make, and to exchange that for a larger canvas really needs to feel like the right swap. Logan’s Run just wasn’t it at the end. But I was able to take one of my ideas and put them into Barbarella, like Dune, I stole a little bit from what didn’t happen and put it into something else. That way the trade-off wasn’t so significant. But I think that maybe those kind of things only work if you stumble and fall.

Last we heard, Bioshock Infinite writer Ken Levine was tapped to write the film. Does this mean that Logan’s Run is down for the count? Or will another director simply jump on board?

I guess this news means that Ryan Gosling is out too. Do you think that Logan’s Run will ever make it out of development hell? Who would you like to see take over as director? Sound out below!

Briefly: It’s finally been revealed.

Bioshock Infinite released all the way back in March to universal acclaim. The game is an incredibly beautiful story driven shooter that offers some of the best and most memorable moments in all of gaming.

Since its release, fans have been eagerly (understatement) awaiting the release, or simply the announcement, of DLC packs for the title. A DLC Season Pass for Infinite has been available since the game was still in its pre-order cycle, so we all knew something was coming, we just didn’t know what.

Until today, that is.

Irrational Games has spilled the beans on some incredible sounding content. The first pack, available now, is called ‘Clash in the Clouds’, and is a combat centric, very difficult looking arena shooter. Take a look at the trailer below:

Looks cool, huh? Not overly exciting, but cool. Now take a look at the trailer for ‘Burial at Sea’, the newly announced, not yet available DLC for Infinite:

‘Burial at Sea’ is a two-part, story driven adventure that takes what looks like an alternate Booker and Elizabeth back to Rapture. You’ll notice from the trailer that Rapture is looking pretty lively (and not destroyed) at this time, but if you look closer, you’ll also notice a certain date: December 31, 1958. Yep, that’s the night that Rapture fell.

It has also been revealed that chapter two of ‘Burial at Sea’ will have players take on the role of Elizabeth, and that gameplay will be much different while you’re in her shoes.

How excited are you for this one? Be sure to let us know!

Briefly: It’s not information about the upcoming Bioshock Infinite DLC, but it’s the next best thing: information on when we’ll get that information.

Joystiq has learned that the first DLC will be unveiled in late July. Three DLC packs have been planned in total: each will cost you a cool $9.99 (unless you pick up the $19.99 season pass), and all three are set to be story-driven, single player experiences. Sign me up!

Bioshock Infinite remains one of my favourite gaming experiences in years, and I can’t wait to see what Ken Levine does with Logan’s RunHave you finished the game yourself? What did you think of the experience?

Between this unveiling, SDCC, and the launch of the next chapter of Telltale’s The Walking Dead, July is set to be an incredible (and busy) month!

http://youtu.be/4L8rvarjVzQ

Briefly: This is fantastic news. Logan’s Run has been in development hell for years, and I think this could just be the talent it needs to make the remake finally see the light of day.

Ken Levine, founding member of Irrational Games and Creative Director of the Bioshock series (including this year’s unbelievable Bioshock Infinite) is writing Logan’s Run. A remake first began development in the 1990’s, and a lot of names have been attached to it since that time: Bryan Singer, Joel Silver, James McTeige, and even Drive‘s Nicolas Winding Refn have all been involved with the project in some way.

I have an infinite (get it) amount of respect for Ken Levine’s work, and I cannot wait to see what he can do with Logan’s Run. How do you feel about the news? How did you like Bioshock Infinite?

After five long years of development, countless delays, and many other troubles, Irrational Games’ Bioshock Infinite releases in less than 24 hours.

Reviews for the latest Bioshock began to publish this morning, and they’ve all been shockingly good. Seriously though, the game has garnered universal acclaim from every lucky soul who has had the opportunity to play it; the Metacritic score for Bioshock Infinite is currently sitting at 95.

2K and Irrational have released a new trailer for the game to celebrate its launch. Watch it below, and let us know what you think! Bioshock Infinite releases tomorrow worldwide for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. An OS X version is also in the works, and should be available this Summer!

EEEEEEIIIIIGHHHHTTT DAYS!!! EEIIIIGHTTTT DAAAAAAAYS! Bioshock Infinite will be soaring into homes an March 26th! I am actually starting to be excited over it, especially after this action packed TV spot! Lets just hope we aren’t getting another damsel in distress on our hands!

After five long years of development, Bioshock Infinite is finally about to hit shelves. The company announced today that the title has gone gold.

In a blog post on Irrational Games’ official website, Ken Levine describes the process of crafting the title, and just how excited he is for it to finally be coming out, adding “Nobody has ever built a game quite like this. It’s a shooter, but a shooter that brings you to very uncomfortable and dangerous places. I can’t demand that you play the game; I can promise you, however, that once you have, it will be an experience you won’t soon forget.”

Sounds good to me.

Irrational has also released a fantastic new trailer for the game. Check it out below, and let us know what you think! Bioshock Infinite hits stores on March 26th.

Irrational Games today released a new trailer for their upcoming first-person shooter, Bioshock Infinite. This trailer is especially effective (for me anyways), as it shows us a lot of what the Bioshock team does best, atmosphere.

The game is just two months away now, releasing on March 26th, and it looks absolutely wonderful. Check out the new trailer below, which takes you back to 1912, and way, way up to Columbia.

Arg… it’s going to be a long two months.

2K Games today released four new screenshots for the much anticipated, oft-delayed Bioshock Infinite. Honestly, my excitement for this game is already through the roof, so these screenshots don’t quantifiably add much to it.

Hopefully, I can pick up my preorder (and you can pick up the game) on March 26th. Are you looking forward to this one?

Irrational Games’ latest Bioshock may have been delayed time and time again, but that doesn’t mean I’m any less excited for it. The company has just released a video detailing the first five minutes of the game, and it’s just as beautiful and Bioshocking as you’d expect!

Watch the opening scene below, and share your thoughts! Bioshock Infinite is currently slated to hit shelves on March 26th of next year!

Bah. The one game that I seem to have been waiting for forever, has just been delayed again. Irrational Games’ insanely anticipated Bioshock Infinite has been pushed back once more, this time by another month. The new tentative release date is March 26, 2013 (the previous delay had it releasing February 26th, which is also my birthday!).

Of course, there’s a silver lining to every delay: though we’ll be waiting longer to finally get our hands on it, if the finished product is better for it, is the news really negative? As the great Shigeru Miyamoto stated: “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

In other Bioshock news, Spike TV’s 10th annual Video Game Awards aired last night (check out the winners here), and an AWESOME new trailer for the game was shown during the ceremony. Check it out below, and let us know what you think!

Are you excited for Bioshock Infinite? What did you think of the previous two games?

Without further adieu, HERE IT IS!

Wow, how…generic. A white guy, in his 30’s with brown hair. This seriously detracts from the game. All the previous games, System Shock and Bioshock, you were kind of a faceless protagonist. This just makes it look like every shooter guy out there. He reminds me of someone specific, but I can’t place it…

And of course the ever relevant Mega64 video.

Bioshock: Infinite can be found next on store shelves February 26th. Right next to Max Payne 3: The Shooting.

Machinima has just debuted a new trailer for the upcoming Bioshock Infinite, and damn does it look good.

The preview isn’t overly long (clocking in at just under two minutes), but it shows us a bit more of what we can expect from the title. It looks absolutely amazing, and I don’t want to give anything away, so just check the trailer out for yourself.

I’m a huge fan of the Bioshock series. The world that irrational created is extremely hard to match in atmosphere and terror, and its quite the achievement to wrap such a fantastic game around the world as well.

I’m eagerly awaiting Bioshock Infinite, and can’t wait to pick it up on February 26th, 2013 (also my birthday!).
