Briefly: It’s a damn good week to be an Assassin’s Creed fan. Both the long awaited and gorgeous Assassin’s Creed: Unity, as well as the completely-different and definitely intriguing Assassin’s Creed: Rogue will be hitting store shelves this Tuesday, and I know many, many folks who have elected to take the day off of work in order to put as much time as possible into both of these titles. Sadly, I’m not one of those people, but my time will definitely come.

To celebrate the looming release, Machinima has just debuted a fabulous and hilarious short called Assassin’s Creed: The Musical. If you’re not an AC fan, you probably won’t understand much of what’s going on (nor will you likely be reading this post), but I was in stitches for the duration. Especially “Leap of Faith” (you’ll see what I mean when you watch the video below).

Here’s what it’s all about:

Just days before the launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity, the smash hit franchise Assassin’s Creed gets the Off-Broadway treatment as Machinima Prime brings the violent video game into the world of musical theater with the launch of Assassin’s Creed: The Musical. Inspired by an improv’d bit during an episode of Inside Gaming q&a last year, Prime has produced a three-song musical theatre experience for the popular gaming franchise that debuts on Thursday, November 6.

Featuring the characters from past games including AltairEzioConnorEdwardAveline, even Desmond Miles in elaborate costumes, the video is directed by Brendan Bradley with original songs by Cormac Bluestone and Joel Rubin. The video stars Machinima Inside Gaming hosts Bruce Greene and Eliot Dewberry along with an accomplished group of musical stars including Matt Caplan (Bway’s RentSouth Pacific Revival, Spiderman Turn Off The Dark, High Fidelity), Jonah Platt (HAIR Hollywood Bowl, a regular at Rockwell Stage including a Bway World Best Actor Nominee for BARE), Ben Palacios(SPANK! National Tour and youtube parody singer), Jaquita Ta’le (from the Hip Hop/R&B/Reggae group Nola Darling).

The first song “The Assassins Creed” is a rousing number with hints of Lion King imagery, followed by a monster anthem/torch song “Leap of Faith,” and concluding with a chorus number  that will make everyone familiar with Broadway think of the hit musical Assassins!”

Take a look at the short below (with a warning that it will probably be stuck in your head for some time afterwards), and be sure to let us know what you think! Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Assassin’s Creed: Rogue both release on November 11th. Which are you planning to pick up?

Briefly: Robert Kirkman’s latest ongoing series, Outcast, was headed to television long before its first issue ever debuted, and today the first information from the anticipated series has made its way online.

Outcast focuses on Kyle Barnes, a man who has been plagued by possession for his entire life, and begins a journey to discover why. Kyle will be portrayed by Gone Girl actor Patrick Fugit. Expanded cast includes Philip Glenister as Reverend Anderson, a hard drinking, hard gambling West Virginian evangelical preacher who believes he’s a soldier in God’s holy war against evil, and Gabriel Bateman asJoshua Austin, a young boy who lives across town who appears to be possessed by a demon and has a mysterious connection to Kyle.

You’re Next director Adam Wingard will direct the pilot, which is still without a premiere date.

Have you been keeping up with Outcast? What are your thoughts on the series so far? Are you looking forward to the adaptation? Sound out below!

Briefly: It’s Wednesday, which means that TONIGHT we’ll be treated to the second episode of the El Rey Network’s fantastic (at least judging from the premiere) new series Lucha Underground.

If you haven’t heard of it, and haven’t  even the slightest interest in wrestling (or sweet television), take a look at the series’ trailer for a fantastic idea of what it’s all about:

The 39-episode series combines ancient lucha libre tradition, extraordinary athleticism and a flare for theatrics in each hour-long episode. Every Wednesday, viewers will have a backstage and ringside seat as masked villains and heroes tell their stories while facing off to battle for wrestling supremacy resulting in programming that is unlike anything else on the screen.

In tonight’s episode, “Los Demonios,” Johnny Mundo and Prince Puma are out for revenge on Big Ryck and his crew. Chavo teams with Sexy Star and takes on Son of Havoc & Ivelisse. Blue Demon Jr. is confronted by Catrina who warns him of 1000 Deaths… Mil Muertes. Chavo Guerro seeks revenge.

And guess what? We’ve got some exclusive stills for tonight’s event! Here’s what you all came here for:

And if you just can’t wait for tonight, here’s a clip:

Excited? Johnny Mundo will also take to reddit at 4PM PT (7 Eastern) for an AMA, so you may want to get in on that too. Be sure to let us know what you think of the stills, and if you’ll be checking out Lucha Underground tonight at 8!

Briefly: The first trailer for District 9 and Elysium director Neil Blomkamp’s next film, Chappie, hit the web today, and I have to say that it’s one of the most emotional trailers that I’ve seen in some time.

Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings – some good, some bad – and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there’s one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. The first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. His life, his story, will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever.

You definitely see themes and elements in the trailer that we’ve seen many times before, but this time around, it feels different. Humans, of course, made Chappie, and as humans do (and as the trailer notes) for some reason we must fear and destroy anything that we don’t understand. I sure hope that Chappie makes it out of this one, though I know it won’t be unscathed.

Also, one of Jon’s dogs is named Chappy, so it gets extra points for that one. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think. Chappie hits theatres on March 6th, 2015.

Briefly: This one’s got just a few days left of it’s nearly-there Kickstarter campaign, and I definitely think that we can push it over the edge!

This one’s called 5th Passenger, and it’s an original science fiction/horror feature film with cast members from Star Trek and Stargate, and it also features a strong female lead! Kari actually had an opportunity to interview some of the creative team behind the project back in September 0f 2013, so if you’re looking for more 5th Passenger, be sure to head here.

Here’s the film’s plot:

Set in 2151, after the Yellowstone Caldera volcano erupts throwing the Earth into chaos, 5th Passenger tells the story of a secretly pregnant female officer and her four man crew adrift in deep space in an escape pod after their transport ship explodes before reaching the new home planet. They fight amongst themselves as they run low on air, but must work together to find a vicious alien hiding aboard their craft before it kills them all.

Sounds pretty cool, huh? Now check out their Kickstarter video, and read on for more info.

Yeah… this looks freaking awesome. And how about that cast and crew!? Doug Jones, Tim Russ, Marina Sirtis, Robert Picardo, Manu Intiraymi, Hana Hatae and even MORE!

As always, there are plenty of rewards up for grabs for people who back the project, including stills, digital downloads, premiere tickets, DVDs, autographs, producer credits, and more! There’s really something for everyone here, and with just three days left in its campaign, it needs just $3600 to make its goal.

You can head to the 5th Passenger Kickstarter page here, and be sure to let us know if you plan to back!

Briefly: We’re still a ways away from playing Hotline Miami 2, as the game is set to hit Steam early access in early 2015.

Machinima is obviously excited for the game’s release, and has just released a fantastic new live-action short titled Hotline Miami 2: “Do You Like to Hurt People”. If you’ve played or experienced Hotline Miami before, you’ll know that this one isn’t for the faint of heart, as just like the game itself, the short is brutal, bloody, and violent.

The short follows a murderous vigilante in an animal mask as he embarks on a bloody rampage through a seedy Miami drug den on New Year’s Eve. Yep.

Take a look below, and let us know how much you loved it (and hot freaking awesome the game is).

Briefly: We’re now less than one month away from seeing the first half of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, and Lionsgate has debuted the final trailer for the highly anticipated film.

As disappointed as I was in the first film in the series, I loved every second of last year’s Catching Fire. As such, I can’t wait to see where this story goes, as I haven’t read a single word of the series of novels. I’ve heard mixed feelings of excitement and resentment from fans of the novels, but it’d be hard to deny how cool this trailer is.

The video features some pretty incredible new footage that we haven’t seen before. I really don’t want to give away too much, but you can take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’re excited! The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 hits theatres on November 21st!

The worldwide phenomenon of The Hunger Games continues to set the world on fire with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which finds Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.

Briefly: I remember being so excited for the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies adaptation when it was first announced back in 2009 (the same year that the book was first published). Since then, the film has shifted stars, directors, studios, and more, and six years later, the first image from the film has finally been revealed.

The image shows off the film’s Elizabeth (Lily James), Lydia (Ellie Bamber), Mary (Millie Brady), Jane (Bella Heathcote), and Kitty (Suki Waterhouse), all holding sharp objects and looking angry as hell.

really enjoyed the novel, turning something that was nearly impossible for me to get through into something original and intriguing, and I really can’t wait to see how the film adaptation turns out. For now, take a look at the first image below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Briefly: I’ve admittedly skipped out on the Fast & Furious series to this point (well, I did see the first film, but I was eleven). That’s all about to change however, as after watching the just-released trailer for next April’s Furious 7, I cannot wait to watch through the franchise.

It’s definitely set to be bittersweet, as of course the film was still in production when Paul Walker had his tragic accident. But this trailer is absolutely phenomenal, and totally ridiculous. I don’t want to give away too much, so here it is:

Yep. They drive out of a flying plane. Super ridiculous, and super awesome. In any case, colour me excited, and I’m definitely going to start the series as soon as possible.

Are you looking forward to the film? Are you confident in James Wan’s direction? Sound out below! Furious 7 hits theatres on April 3rd.

Stan Lee’s Comikaze is finally right around the corner (better get those tickets quickly, it’s TOMORROW)! A myriad of Geekscape writers will be in attendance at the expo, and of course we couldn’t be more excited to hang out with you at the Geekscape Booth (that’d be Booth #1110)!

As the 3-day event has something for all sorts of different tastes, we thought that we’d make a list of our own personal highlights from the schedule! Here are the panels that each of us are looking forward to at next weekend’s Comikaze 2014!

If you’re attending the expo, be sure to visit us at Booth #1110, where we’ll have tons of shirts available (including the awesome new baseball t’s) and also an EXCLUSIVE print celebrating the return on Jonathan’s Own Super Action Man. We’ll be there all weekend! Now read on!

It’s that Comikaze time of year again! And with each Comikaze, we get to see more awesome guests and more awesome panels to get excited for! Here are some of the panels that I’m looking forward to.

On Saturday morning, the iconic Adam West will be on the Hot Topic main stage to talk all things Batman, and help celebrate Batman’s 75th Anniversary! (10:30am – Hot Topic Main Stage)

Later on in the afternoon, Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman are bringing Hollywood Babble-On Smodcast live to Comikaze for Fatman on Batman: A tribute to Batman ’66! (1:30pm – Room 408AB)

Another one I’m looking forward to is Constantine: An Introduction, this gives Comikaze attendees a chance to meet the creators and get a sneak peak into the new series. (3:00pm – Hot Topic Main Stage)

On Sunday morning, there’s a spotlight panel on Jewel Staite, of Firefly and Stargate. (10:30am – Hot Topic Main Stage.

And shortly after, I might try to see the Comikaze Guest of Honor panel with John Barrowman, the star of Doctor Who, Arrow, Torchwood and so much more. (11:30am – 304ABC)

Juan Carlos Marquez

With Comikazee fast approaching, I find myself conflicted in trying to schedule my weekend in order to get in as much coverage as humanly possible. Right off the bat, it seems like the Hot Topic Main Stage will be the place to hang around all day Saturday–with the one and only Adam West kicking things off, followed by Rob Liefeld, and the folks behind NBC’s Constantine! Aside from the Main Stage action, I plan on checking out the Golden Age of Gaming panel in Room 301B and the Original Intellivision Game Designers Panel in Room 303AB. Of course, there’s no way I can miss our fearless leader in Geekscape’s Panel this Friday in Room 306AB at 6 P.M.

And since you lovely people will be there, stop by the Geekscape booth (#1110) and snag yourself some sweet Geekscape T-shirts and get an EXCLUSIVE Super Action Man print!

Jake Lopez

Comikaze is back and what better way to spend your Halloween then at the convention center celebrating all things geek! For those of you searching for a convention without the hassle or enormity of SDCC, Comikaze looks like the place to go. Honestly, looking over the programming schedule makes this year seem like one of the most laid-back stress-free conventions I’ve seen. And it’s not like there’s any shortage f sights to see. On Friday, panelists will screen a Batman Fan Film, “The Great Mistake of Dr. Miles”, which is of course followed by a Q&A with the creators in room 404AB at 4:00 PM. Afterwards, you should go check out Geekscape Live! in 306AB at 6:00 PM. *nudge nudge*

Saturday, I plan on hitting the sneak preview of the documentary “Showrunners: The Art of Running a TV Show”. I’m sure to find interviews with the likes of Damon Lindelof and Joss Whedon regarding television interesting. Afterward, I’m hoping to make it to the Dragon Ball Z – The Fall of Men panel in 304 ABC (1:00 PM). If you don’t know already, this particular DBZ installment is fan made and it looks fantastic. If for some reason I can’t make it to that, I plan at being in room 308AB at 1:30 PM for Spider-Man: The Animated Series 20th Anniversary. Need I say more?

On Sunday, one of the bigger panels will be taking place in 406AB at 10:00 AM with an early screening of “Gotham” episode 107. The screening is followed up by Executive Producer Danny Cannon.

I only wish I had more time to see some of the events Comikaze has to offer! The schedule is packed!

Derek Kraneveldt

I am so, so sad that I won’t be attending Comikaze this year. Last year’s convention weekend was by far one of the highlights of my year, both because of the chance to see all of my Geekscape friends and colleagues once more, but also because everything that Comikaze had to offer was beyond stellar.

This year, the guests are even better, the panel schedule has grown exponentially, and Geekscape is going live on the show floor. I’m almost debating jumping on a plane tomorrow and heading down, and here’s what I would be most interested in seeing:

Friday:

4:00 – 404AB – (BATMAN FAN FILM) THE GREAT MISTAKE OF DR. MILES

See the convention premier of 1960’s Batman fan film “The Great Mistake of Dr. Miles”, followed by Q&A and discussion with the cast and crew. The panel will conclude with a special announcement about the future of the project.

5:00 – 404AB – THE KAIJU KINGDOM LIVE PODCAST! – GODZILLA’S 60TH ANNIVERSARY/GAMERA’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Join a discussion about Godzilla 60th Anniversary and Gamera’s 50th Anniversary.

6:00 – 306AB – GEEKSCAPE LIVE! WITH SPECIAL GUESTS!

It’s freaking Geekscape, but LIVE. How the hell could I not show up to this?

Saturday:

9:00 – Hot Topic Main Stage – UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH STAN LEE, POWERED BY WEEV

Get intimate with Stan Lee and learn about all of the new projects he’s working on at POW! Entertainment.

10:30 – Hot Topic Main Stage – SPOTLIGHT: ADAM WEST

TV’s most prolific Batman joins us to talk all things Batman, and help celebrate Batman’s 75th Anniversary!

1:30 – 308AB – SPIDER-MAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Spider-Man: The Animated Series introduced a whole generation to the famous web-slinger in the first of his adventures for TV that captured the true spirit of the original comic book.

2:30 – 308AB – RANDOM ENCOUNTERS’ VIDEO GAME MUSICALS

Watch your favorite games and series become Broadway show-stoppers, from an Arkham Asylum rock-opera to a Tim Burton-style Pac-Man musical! WARNING: This show contains catchy songs, nerdy humor and the dreaded Marshmallow Zone. Singalongs are welcome.

4:30 – Screening Room – THE ROOM

Join film-creator Tommy Wiseau at a special screening of his cult classic film!

Sunday

10:00 – 308AB – PUBLICIZING YOUR PROJECT

You’ve got a new comic, a new webseries, a new novel, a new TV show or movie? That’s great. But pretty meaningless if you and your friends are the only ones who know about it. How do you get the word out? Facebook and webpage, sure. That’s what everyone’s doing. What can you do to cut through the clutter and get your stuff actually seen, actually talked about, actually out there so people can see it, read it, watch it, buy it? People who have been getting projects seen dating back to “Star Wars” will give you advice on how you can do it for your project.

12:00 – 308AB – LION FORGE COMICS & IDW PUBLISHING: DIGITAL TO PRINT AND BEYOND!

Lion Forge Comics & IDW Publishing: Digital to Print and Beyond! Lion Forge Editor-In-Chief Shannon Eric Denton discusses Lion Forge titles Airwolf vs. Knight Rider, Miami Vice, Chavo Guerrero, Rampage Jackson, Andre the Giant, Care Bears, Saved By The Bell, Saber Riders & the Star Sheriffs, Punky Brewster and more! Join Shannon and the Lion Forge creative teams as they discuss these properties along with their recently announced print- partnership with IDW Publishing!

1:00 – 308AB – HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN NOVEL: FROM THE FIRST IDEA TO PUBLISHING AND WHAT YOU NEED TO SELL YOUR WORK TO TV AND FILM

Join the Winner Twins while they teach you how to create your own novel step by step, from building your universe to overcoming writer’s block to the different paths to publishing. The Winner Twins will be joined by bestselling author, and renowned actor, Richard Hatch, of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA fame, and Steven-Elliot Altman, author of such novels as DEPRIVERS and BATMAN: FEAR ITSELF.

I’m barely scratching the surface here. There is so much that I’d like to see at this year’s Comikaze, and that’s not even mentioning the show floor, where I’d be bound to spend far, far, far too much money on things that I love.

Also, I’m really, really going to miss Lawry’s Carvery!

Are you hitting up Comikaze this year? What are you most looking forward to? Sound out below!

Briefly: We all received a fantastic treat late last week when the first trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron leaked online, DAYS before it’s scheduled launch on last night’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel blamed it on Hydra, which was a hilarious and lighthearted way of looking at the leak. Not wanting to leave any of us S.H.I.E.L.D. fans hanging, the studio attached a special look at the film on last night’s episode. If you we’re lucky enough to be in Hall H at SDCC this past Summer, than it’s nothing new for you, but it’s exciting to see the scene online and official.

It’s also fantastic to see the look on Thor’s face when Cap almost lifts the hammer, and now we can see it over and over and over again. The rest of the video is pretty much the trailer we’ve already seen, but I’m not going to say no to watching that one again. Take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’re excited!

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theatres on May 1st, 2015.

Briefly: We’re all beyond excited for Nintendo to release the first DLC pack for the phenomenal Mario Kart 8, and the publisher is now teasing just what we can expect in the first pack’s eight new tracks.

Today, Nintendo debuted an Excitebike themed track for the game. From the video, it’s clear to see that the course will garner some nostalgic feelings from older Nintendo fans, and probably some feelings of frustration from everybody. It looks fairly flat and straight, so you can definitely expect to be hit by a lot of green shells and fireballs. Oh, and the locations of ramps and speed boosts change each time you race, so good luck with that.

Take a look at the Excitebike preview below, and let us know what you think! Each DLC pack will cost you a more-than-reasonable $7.99, or you can pick up the two-pack bundle for $11.99.

Looks like fun, huh?

Briefly: Marvel revealed a very brief synopsis (along with some bad-ass teaser art) for their upcoming Agent Carter series all the way back in May, and the studio has now revealed a far longer, more detailed synopsis, as well as the full cast list for the project.

The new synopsis give us a much better idea of the series’ plot, and it definitely does a fantastic job of getting us excited for its premiere in 2015. Here it is:

ABC presents its second action packed series from the creative minds at Marvel in “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” inspired by the feature films Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger” and Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the short “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.”

Years before Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team swore to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive, there was Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), who pledged the same oath but lived in a different time when women weren’t recognized as being as smart or as tough as their male counterparts.

But no one should ever underestimate Peggy.

It’s 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field; putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys.  But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America.

When old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy – the only person he can trust – to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name.  He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy, “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction.  But Jarvis, who is a creature of habit and sticks to a rigid daily routine, is going to have to make some major life changes if he’s going to be able to keep up with Peggy.

If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse. And as she delves deeper into her investigation, she may find that those she works for are not who they seem, and she might even begin to question whether Stark is as innocent as he claims.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” stars Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story”) as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj (“Dollhouse”) as Agent Daniel Sousa and Shea Whigham (“American Hustle,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) as Chief Roger Dooley.

Tara Butters (“Resurrection”), Michele Fazekas (“Resurrection), Christopher Markus (Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Stephen McFeely (Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Chris Dingess (“Men in Trees”), Kevin Feige (Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”), Louis D’Esposito (Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Marvel’s “Iron Man 3”), Alan Fine (Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel’s “Thor”), Joe Quesada (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble”), Stan Lee (“Spider-Man,” “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk”) and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville,” “Lost,” “Heroes”) are executive producers.  “Marvel’s Agent Carter” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Sounds pretty interesting, doesn’t it? Will you be tuning in? Sound out below!

Briefly: Who’s the best host around?

Yep. Jonathan London. We’re not biased around here or anything, but the dude is freaking awesome.

Apparently, hosting 338 episodes of Geekscape, Metacafe’s Pause/Play (we miss that one), and countless other shows, videos, and live events has only made the man want to host even more, and it turns out that DC Comics is looking for a new host for DC All Access.

You know who would be perfect for that gig? Jonathan London. That’s even more weekly Jon, and you know damn well that you can’t get enough of him.

Here’s his application, including a cute-ass sidekick, TONS of comics, and some great reasons as to why he’d be the perfect host:

Want to see Jon in the role? As he mentions in the video, it’s pretty simple to show your support! Just post the video, along with the hashtag #DCHostSearch, and let DC know who you want your new host to be, and don’t forget to retweet any other support that you see.

Want to take another look at those comics? Yeah you do:

You wish your collection was that big.

Now get tweeting, and thank you for your support!

Briefly: Adrianne Palicki’s role as Mockingbird on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was revealed all the way back in August, and last night’s episode introduced the actress as the double-agent Bobbi Morse, head of HYDRA security, and also totally working for Coulson.

She’ll officially suit up as Mockingbird on next week’s episode of the series, but Marvel has given us a sneak peek at just what she’ll look like, as well as some concept art showing Palicki with Morse’s classic blonde hair.

I’ve been a big fan of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ever since The Winter Soldier happened, and I’ve been more than happy with its second season so far. For now, take a look at the images below, and let us know if you’re excited! Again, she’ll debut the costume on next week’s episode!

Briefly: We’re barely a month away from seeing the first half of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, and Lionsgate has just debuted a new teaser for the film that takes us back to District 12.

The video shows an absolutely devastated District, and the vocal backings by Lorde make for a pretty emotional moment.

I don’t want to give away too much, but you can take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’re excited! The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 hits theatres on November 21st! As disappointed as I was in the first film in the series, I loved every second of last year’s Catching Fire. As such, I can’t wait to see where this story goes., as I haven’t read a single word of the series. I’ve heard mixed feelings of excitement and resentment from fans of the novels, but it’d be hard to deny how cool this trailer is.

The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne  Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.

Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion offered a great start to what looks to be a stellar new chapter in the Star Wars story. Maybe you’d like to relive the magic again and again, or maybe you missed it on Disney XD the first time around.

In any case, we’re giving you a chance to get your hands on your very own copy of the Star Wars: Spark of Rebellion DVD! We’ve got five copies up for grabs in total, so get started by rewatching the movie’s trailer below, and keep on reading to learn how you can win one yourself!

Starring a small band of heroes — Sabine, Kanan, Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper — Star Wars Rebels is set in a time where the Empire rules through fear and shrouds the galaxy in darkness. This trailer offers many new glimpses at sequences from the show, including the starship Ghost chased by TIE Fighters; young Ezra watching as a Star Destroyer looms overhead; Stormtroopers marching; a zero-g fight between our heroes and Imperials; and Kanan, a secret Jedi, assembling his lightsaber and preparing for battle. It ends, however, with an Imperial officer reporting to the Inquisitor — the Empire’s Jedi hunter, seen and heard here for the first time. Star Wars Rebels takes place between Star Wars: Episode III and IV as the Empire tightens its grip on the galaxy and a rebellion begins to form.

This giveaway is open to all US and Canadian residents, and entry is pretty simple. Here’s what you need to do:

Briefly: We’re still recovering from a totally incredible New York Comic-Con (have you seen our Constantine interview?), and were  just fleshing out our plans for Comikaze in a couple of weeks (dat guest list) when we had to take a break to check out this fantastic new Comic Book documentary.

It’s called ‘Comic Book Artists: Next Generation’, and the AT&T U-Verse documentary just premiered earlier today. If you’re an AT&T subscriber, you can check it out on channels 300 & 1300HD, but if not (or you don’t want to watch it at a scheduled time) you can watch the doc in its entirety at this link.

In a small loft in Toronto, a group of 10 gifted comic book artists are crafting the next generation of superhero tales featuring Spider-Man, New Warriors, The Flash, Batman, and other classic characters. In this AT&T U-verse Buzz documentary, we get a behind-the-scenes peek at the life of modern-day comic book artists, featuring award-winning creators Ramon K. Perez (The Amazing Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men), Marcus To (New Warriors, Cyborg 009) and Francis Manapul (Detective Comics, The Flash). As each of these artists build their careers and juggle their personal life with an all-consuming artistic life, industry legends Stan Lee and Jim Lee share their advice and perspective on their own successes.

The documentary holds some fantastic clips from Stan Lee, Jim Lee, and everyone else involved, and it gives some absolutely incredible insight to the life of these amazing artists. Definitely, definitely, definitely give the doc a watch, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Briefly: The Walking Dead is finally back, surprising us all with a brutal and extremely memorable premiere this past Sunday.

While we’re twiddling our thumbs patiently (impatiently) waiting for the next episode to air, Gimple and co. are busy adding to the show’s already expansive cast. The newest addition is American Horror Story‘s Alexandra Breckenridge, who played the young maid Moira in the first season of the FX hit.

She’ll join The Walking Dead as Samantha, an “attractive, strong, smart, charming and articulate woman who also has a vulnerable side. She’s a mother with a bohemian spirit, and a talented artist.” She won’t necessarily be named this on the show, and could even be based on one of the comic’s characters, but we won’t know that until later this year!

We’ll be sure to keep you up to date on The Walking Dead news, but for now be sure to let us know what you think of the announcement!

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: Alexandra Breckenridge

Briefly: Well we certainly weren’t expecting all of this today. During an investor’s meeting early this morning, Warner Bros. revealed some major plans for the coming years… including details on its entire slate of DC films.

We all knew that there were a ton of DC films in the works, but WB had shied away from revealing just what and who these features would be based on, until now of course.

Warner Bros. noted that the announcements do not include stand-alone Batman and Superman films that are also in the works, but here’s what’s in store so far:

– Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Snyder (2016)
Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer (2016)
Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot (2017)
Justice League Part One, directed by Zack Snyder, with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams reprising their roles (2017)
The Flash, starring Ezra Miller (2018)
Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa (2018)
Shazam (2019)
Justice League Part Two, directed by Zack Snyder (2019)
Cyborg, starring Ray Fisher (2020)
Green Lantern (2020)

It’s interesting that Warner chose to reveal some casting news along with the titles of the films. We knew that we’d see Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Jason Momoa’s role as Aquaman had been unofficially officially confirmed about a thousand times, but Ezra Miller as The Flash is definitely news.

Ezra

Also, we’re getting a new Green Lantern, and there’s no way it could be as bad as the last one. You can also see that Zack Snyder has been tapped to direct both Justice League films, so it’ll be interesting to see who ends up in the director’s chair for the remainder of the standalone pictures.

So, which fims are you most excited for? Which DC heroes didn’t get a film that you’d like to see in one? Are you happy with all of the new casting? Sound out below!

Briefly: Gotham reception thus far has been extremely mixed (especially from bat-fans), but one thing is now for certain: love it or hate it, it’s not going anywhere.

Fox has just picked up the series for an extended full season run. That’s not 16, but 22 episodes! Are those tears of joy or sadness on your face right now?

It’s no surprise, as Gotham was the network’s highest rated Fall drama debut in over 14 years.

While I’ve found plenty to both like and dislike in the few episodes we’ve seen so far, I’m enjoying Gotham far more than I did Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when it began, and we all know how awesome that show came to be. Be sure to let us know what you think of the show in the comments below.

Briefly: Following that awesome teaser photo from just a few weeks backJurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has taken to twitter to debut the first teaser poster for the film.

The image is classically similar to the teaser one-sheet for each and every Jurassic film thus far, but the logo is taken to depths that we haven’t seen before. We also get a new (and exciting) tagline: the park is open.

Jurassic World really sounds like it could breathe some much needed life into the once great franchise, and I really, really can’t wait to see some footage. For now, take a look at the teaser image below, and be sure to let us know if you’re excited! Jurassic World hits theatres on July 12th, 2015!

Briefly: Shinja Mikami’s long-awaited return to survival horror is here! The game has been garnering (mostly) positive thoughts from reviewers around the world, and as a huge survival horror fan, I really can’t wait to get my hands on it (after I finish Alien: Isolation of course).

The game releases today on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and Bethesda has just debuted the launch trailer for the title/

Here’s what SJ thought when she played the game back at E3:

And it is scary. We screamed a little bit during our play through. And at one point, as we were sloshing waist deep through thick, congealing blood attempting to solve a puzzle to get to the next room, we were certainly viscerally affected by the well-realized world. Stealth and sneak attacks are preferred; noise and light draw unwanted attention. And the zombie/monster/box-man creatures? Only stay dead after you burn them. And matches are in short supply.

Between The Evil Within and Hideo Kojima/Guillermo Del Toro’s Silent Hills, survival horror seems to be back on AAA developer’s minds. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! If you’re a PS4 owner and you haven’t checked out P.T., you’re definitely missing out!

Of all the cool things that I was able to do last year, going to Stan Lee’s Comikaze was definitely one of the highlights. Yep, San Diego Comic-Con was incredible, but due to its sheer size and massive attendance, it becomes nothing but a line convention at times, and beyond stressful at others.

Comikaze, on the other hand, is nothing but fun. It’s huge, but not unbearably so. Tons (and) tons of people go, but you still have the freedom to move around the well-spaced show floor and not feel like you’re in a tin of sardines. Panels (even popular ones) are actually attendable without waiting in line for 24 hours, and just like SDCC, the guests are stellar (oh, and don’t even get my started on the nearby Lawry’s Carvery).

I’m a comic book guy, so the guest list that I’m always the most excited about is definitely the comic book pros. This year’s comic book guest list is stacking up to be nothing less than stellar. Some of the highlights include:

Brian Michael Bendis
Rob Liefeld
John Romita Jr.
Joe Jusko
Len Wein
Jim Lee
Peter David
Kevin Smith
J. Scott Campbell
Greg Horn
Whilce Portacio

But that’s just a fraction of who’s attending, and again, that’s just comic book guests. Here’s the full list. Tickets for Comikaze are available now, but special VIP options are going fast!

We’ll be sharing our Comikaze plans soon, but for now, be sure to let us know who you’re excited to see!

Comikaze

Briefly: I got into the Borderlands craze way (way) late, and am just working my way through Borderlands 2 with some friends now. That being said, I can’t wait to get my hands on The Pre-Sequel… especially not after seeing this freaking rad launch trailer.

Full of Handsome Jack, everyone’s favourite (now playable) robot, and brief introductions to all of our new characters, the trailer shows off a fantastic assortment of loot and co-op action. And one moon wizard. I still can’t believe they took that line out of Destiny.

Take a look at the game’s launch trailer below, and let us know if you’re excited to play! Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel hits Windows, OS X, Linux, PS3, and Xbox 360 tomorrow!

Briefly: So I’m not a big toy guy. I have no problem throwing dozens of dollars down on comic books each week, and while I can appreciate those that collect toys (and can definitely appreciate the figures themselves), I have a hard time bringing myself to spending a ton of money on something that’s just going to sit on a shelf (as opposed to the pieces of paper that I buy that sit in boxes for years).

With all of the incredible toy announcements this year, however, I feel like that’s about to change. Disney Infinity 2.0 almost got me. Amiibo’s are going to destroy my wallet, and I’m definitely going to throw down for at least a few of the McFarlane Building Sets, but New York Comic-Con saw the announcement of a figure I’ll gladly display with pride.

The Walking Dead‘s Clementine, possibly one of the best video game characters ever, is getting a fantastic figure from McFarlane Toys.

Details are still slim at this point, including pricing and release dates, but Telltale has noted that “Exclusively from Skybound, the Clem figure will be available in both Full Color and in Blood Splattered Color versions and comes with backpack, pistol, and hammer.”

We’ll take one of each, please. Take a look at the first two images of the figure below, and let us know if you’ll be picking one up. For Clementine!

Briefly: It seems like the entire world can’t get enough of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and it appears as though Disney is looking to capitalize on that popularity in any way it can.

At this weekend’s New York Comic-Con, the studio announced that an animated series based on the film is in the works, and that it will premiere on Disney XD in 2015.

The series (of course) won’t feature Pratt and pals as our heroes (those guys are expensive as hell), but Disney is yet to announce who will voice everyone’s new favourite characters. The series is, however, set to take place shortly after this year’s film, so you can expect it to retain the same lighthearted, fun style as the Marvel film.

Marvel today released the test reel that was shown at NYCC, and we have to say that it looks pretty damned gorgeous. Take a look at the reel below, and let us know if you’re down for a Guardians animated series.

Briefly: Lots of good stuff coming out of NYCC today. We saw the first trailer for Sony’s Powersthe first few minutes of The Walking Dead premiere, and now we have a great look at Marvel’s new Daredevil.

It’s totally taking a note from Frank Miller’s The Man Without Fear, and that’s totally awesome.

Here’s Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock:

And here’s a page that it takes its inspiration from:

NYCC panel attendees were treated to some early footage today, so I hope that it somehow makes its way online. For now, be sure to let us know what you think of the costume!

“Marvel’s Daredevil” follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

Marvel’s first original series on Netflix is Executive Produced by series Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (“Spartacus,” “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” “Angel”) and Drew Goddard (“Cabin in the Woods,” “Lost,” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” in addition to writing the first two episodes of “Marvel’s Daredevil”), along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Smallville,” “Heroes”).

Briefly: Today at New York Comic-Con, AMC debuted the first four minutes of Sunday’s The Walking Dead season premiere. It’s… well, I don’t want to spoil things, but it’s pretty intense.

Take a look at the footage below, and rest easy, because there’s a lot more The Walking Dead coming.

Briefly: Back in September Sony announced that the first footage from this Winter’s Powers would debut at New York Comic-Con. Well, NYCC has arrived, and so has this bad-ass (and language heavy) footage.

I’ve not read the Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming series (I’ve heard nothing but good things about it, so I’ll give the ‘it’s on the list’ excuse), but I’ll watch anything with the fantastic Sharlto Copley in it, and here he plays one of our main characters, Christian Walker.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be checking out Powers when it premieres later this year. As for watching the show, Sony says that “PlayStation platform owners will be able to download/stream individual episodes of POWERS.  Members of PlayStation Plus, the premium gaming membership, will be able to view the entire POWERS series for free and obtain exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.   Episode 1 of POWERS will be made free for everyone, regardless if they own a PlayStation or not.” Let’s just hope that expands beyond the United States.

Powers, an edgy dramatic series from Sony Pictures Television and inspired by the graphic novel series of the same name, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals? Enter the men and women of the Powers Division, the only people brave enough to go up against the overpaid, commercialized, superhumans who glide through the sky imposing their power over the crowds below who both worship and fear them.
