Briefly: I love this teaser.

Too often today (read: all the time) a film’s first teaser or trailer reveals all too much of the film, leaving little mystery for the viewer to wonder, talk, or speculate about.

The first teaser for Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland is the exact opposite of that. It’s a short, beautiful look into the world of the film, but it reveals just enough for us to think ‘oh.my.god. this looks incredible’ before concluding. Now we’re left to speculate for who knows how long.

In the film, “former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.”

Again, The Iron Giant, Ratatouille, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird is at the helm of this one, and the script comes from Bird himself and Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof. We’re damned excited for this one, so take a look at the teaser below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Somehow the announcement of Marvel Contest of Champions completely eluded me. The game just received this gorgeous new cinematic trailer at New York Comic Con (Eric and Jonathan are running around the floor, so be sure to say hello), and it’s even already soft launched in some countries (sadly, Canada is not one of them).

In the trailer, “The Collector has captured the mightiest superheroes and villains to compete in the Contest of Champions. Watch as Hulk and Wolverine battle it out in the Savage Lands, Gamora take on Ronan in the Kyln, and Deadpool brawl Punisher in the Avengers Tower. Super villains Kang the Conqueror and Thanos ominously wait in their corners to wage their own epic battles to destroy the Marvel universe.”

The game “is an immersive, high-action, high-fidelity super hero combat game for mobile devices. Players fight their way through iconic locations from the Marvel Universe and collect their favorite Marvel super heroes and villains such as Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man and Thor to build their ultimate team of champions.  The storyline and character bios were penned by fan-favorite Marvel comic book writer Sam Humphries.”

Sam was totally on Geekscape all the way back in January 2013, and we love him, so we’ll be checking out Marvel Contest of Champions as soon as it hits our homeland. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Goosebumps was an absolutely massive part of my childhood. I still recall researching and looking forward to every new book release, and ordering whenever possible from my school’s monthly Scholastic Book Order.

As you probably know (and as we totally covered back at SDCC), a Goosebumps feature film is finally set to release in August of next year. To celebrate, and because it’s totally October, “R.L. Stine will host his third Scholastic social media takeover on Thursday, October 30. And to further bewitch fans, Scholastic will unleash a revamped Goosebumps website, social media pages and brand-new book as well as host a special event featuring R.L. Stine at The Scholastic Store in Manhattan, and more!”

I’m down.

Here’s what’s happening:

– On October 30 from 2-3:30pm EST, R.L. Stine will be “trick or tweeting” with fans through social media in a can’t-miss live chat. Stine will share jokes, trivia, videos and images, plus answer questions from participants, who will also have a chance to win collectible Goosebumps prizes. Creatures from coast-to-coast can join in the conversation by using #31DaysofGoosebumps to post on the Scholastic accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Instagram, or via the Goosebumps Facebook page and newly-launched Goosebumps Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram feeds. It’s sure to be a scream!

Additional ways for fans to get Goosebumps:

-Online: Fans can visit the interactive new mobile-friendly Goosebumps website, www.scholastic.com/goosebumps, to play engaging games and activities such as “Monster Blood” and “Which Monster Are You?”; check-out the author events calendar and news spotlight; discuss all things Goosebumps in a community forum; and review a full list of books and TV episodes, so they’ll be sure never to miss a new title or show!

-In New York City: R.L. Stine himself will treat kids and families to a Halloween-themed afternoon, as he reads and signs some of the best-loved Goosebumps books at The Scholastic Store on Saturday, October 18, at 2pm EST!
With a new book: Young monsters can sink their teeth into “12 Screams of Christmas,” a special edition book and the latest title in the Goosebumps: Most Wanted series that follows the brand’s most infamous characters!
Through iTunes and Netflix: Families can now catch all 74 edge-of-your-seat Goosebumps episodes on iTunes and Netflix, this Halloween and anytime!

-On TV: Kids can tune-in to the Goosebumps TV series for ghastly laughs on The Hub Network!

And things will get even spookier in Times Square, when R.L.Stine and Scholastic Media President Deborah Forte ring the bell for the close of the NASDAQ stock market on Halloween, Friday, October 31, at 4pm EST.

I can’t wait to see more from the Goosebumps film, an I think I’m probably overdue for a Netflix binge. Are you looking forward to the film? Sound out below!

Briefly: The fifth season of The Walking Dead won’t even premiere for another few days, but AMC has already (unsurprisingly) confirmed the insanely-popular drama for a sixth season.

The series has been the #1 show on television among adults 18-49 for the last two years, and most highly-rated show in cable television history, so it’s almost more surprising that they haven’t already extended its run further. Though there is that spinoff also in the works.

Here’s what AMC had to say:

“We could not be more excited for October 12th as we share new episodes of ‘The Walking Dead’ with fans around the globe,” said AMC President Charlie Collier. “In advance of Sunday’s season five premiere, AMC proudly confirms a sixth season order of this extraordinary series. Thank you to Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, the terrific executive producers, and the entire team who brings this compelling world and these rich characters to life. There’s plenty more Dead ahead thanks to their impressive, collective effort.”

Social media activity and interest around “The Walking Dead” is up significantly from the same period a year ago. For several weeks leading up to the season five premiere, the show has been #1 in digital engagement of all returning fall cable series, as measured by the ListenFirst Digital Audience Rating. The show’s social media following and fan engagement are at an all-time high with more than 30 million Facebook fans and 2.7 million Twitter followers, while video views of scenes and trailers for the upcoming season are well outpacing last year’s results.

For season six, Scott M. Gimple will return as the series’ showrunner and executive producer along with executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero and Tom Luse. AMC also recently announced that it has ordered a pilot for a potential companion series to “The Walking Dead,” based on a new story and new characters from Robert Kirkman.

What do you hope to see in season five? Let alone season six!

Briefly: We’re all so busy playing Super Smash Bros. for 3DS that we almost forgot that the Wii U edition existed. But it does. And now we know when we’ll actually get to play the sure-to-be-just-as-addictive home console version.

Nintendo revealed today that Super Smash Bros. will launch for Wii U on November 21st, along with the first wave of Nintendo’s Amiibo figures. The first wave consists of Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby and Marth, while the second wave that launches in December includes Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon.

Basically what Nintendo is saying… November and December are going to be expensive as hell.

The 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. launched just a few days ago in North America, but it’s doing very well. “Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is already in the hands of more than 2.8 million people worldwide, and the road ahead looks great,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “Nintendo’s holiday software lineup is more than impressive, and our amiibo figures start a new chapter in the world of Nintendo interactive entertainment. With so many great experiences available, this holiday season is going to be an amazing time to be a Nintendo fan.”

Let us know your thoughts on Smash Bros. below, and which Amiibo’s you’ll be picking up first!

Briefly: We saw a cool new featurette for the series just a few days back, and today NBC debuted a new TV spot for this month’s premiere of Constantine.

The video features some footage we haven’t seen yet (well, unless you’ve seen the pilot), and really emphasizes the loneliness of the character.

In any case, the series looks very cool, and I can’t wait to dive in. You can take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think!

http://youtu.be/cWSV53kzlr0

CONSTANTINE follows enigmatic and irreverent Liverpool con-man-turned-occult-detective John Constantine, who is reluctantly thrust into the role of defending our world against dark forces from beyond.

Briefly: Penny Dreadful was one of my favourite new series of 2014. Its short, phenomenal, eight-episode run was over far too quickly, and left me and millions of other fans itching for more.

From the show’s stellar cast, to its impressive production values, to the way incredible way it mixes and crosses over so many literary classics, there’s a lot (a lot) to love in this Victorian horror. In the series, some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters – including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula – have become embroiled in Victorian London. The series is a frightening psychosexual thriller created, written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan (Hugo, The Aviator, Gladiator) and executive produced by Logan’s Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall) and Pippa Harris (Revolutionary Road), both of Neal Street.

Take a look at the first teaser for next year’s episodes below, and we’ll be sure to share as soon as Showtime releases more.

Briefly: Following the short teaser that we saw back in August, AMC has just debuted another look at next year’s Better Call Saul via an original song performed by Junior Brown, with lyrics by show creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould.

The song acts as an advertisement for Saul’s firm, and it’s absolutely hilarious.

Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad.  Gilligan and Breaking Bad writer and producer Peter Gould created the show together and serve as co-showrunners of the premiere season.  The series is set six years before Saul Goodman (Odenkirk) meets Walter White.  When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet.  Working alongside, and, often, against Jimmy, is “fixer” Mike Erhmantraut (Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad.  The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts “criminal” in “criminal lawyer.”  The series’ tone is dramatic, woven through with dark humor.

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! Better Call Saul premieres on February 15th!

Briefly: Alien: Isolation is finally here, and we’re beyond happy to see that the game is just as terrifying as its marketing, and is receiving stellar reviews all over the place. Can we all just forget about Colonial Marines now?

Sega has just released the launch trailer for the title, which shows off some great moments that we haven’t seen yet, and also shows off some of the positive thoughts that the game has been receiving. The game looks scary as shit, and I can’t wait to play it… for a few minutes until I get too scared and have to turn it off.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up.

Briefly: I can’t wait for more Dr. 1Up.

The web series premiered today as part of the newly re-launched Machinima Prime. In the series, the biggest and most fearsome names in the video game universe – including Master Chief (Halo), Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) and Nathan Drake(Uncharted), Raiden (Mortal Kombat) – visit Dr. 1Up in his office so he can treat their ailments.

The series starts in the doctor’s waiting room, and we get a great cameo from The Last Of Us alumni Joel and Ellie.

Here’s the series’ synopsis:

Dr. 1Up is visited each week in his office by the biggest and most fearsome names in the video game world – including Master Chief (Halo), Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) and Nathan Drake (Uncharted), Raiden (Mortal Kombat), and much more – so he can treat each character’s ailments. Dr. 1Up is directed by Ukrainian Yuri Baranofsky (Break A Leg, The Temp Life, Leap Year) and written by Woody Tondorf (The Morning After, The Dark Knight Legacy).  The series stars Noel Carroll as Dr. 1Up, YouTube personality Bree Essrig as Nurse Janet and Haley Mancini (Most Popular Girls In School, Smosh’s 16 bit High, Mad Men) as Dovahkiin. Additionally, each episode will feature notable actors and YouTube personalities including Inside Gaming Host Adam Kovic who plays Master Chief and premiere voiceover star Matthew Mercer (Attack on Titan, Destiny, Arkham Origins, Resident Evil) who portrays Solid Snake.

Briefly: It feels like it’s been forever, but we’re finally less than two week away from The Walking Dead‘s anticipated return.

Following a myriad of trailers and TV spots, AMC has just debuted a 2.5 minute featurette digging into the new season. We hear from the shows stars and producers, and they all make it pretty clear that we’re returning to a very different group of survivors than we left.

You can take a look at the featurette below, and be sure to let us know what you hope to see in the upcoming episodes.

Briefly: Alright, so this first teaser trailer doesn’t show much of Pixar’s next likely-masterpiece, Inside Out.

In fact, it spends far more time looking at Pixar’s past films than it does showing off its latest, but I still felt tears welling up and goosebumps on my skin. Nobody can tug at the heartstrings like Pixar does, and I’m sure that Inside Out will carry that tradition, especially since it’s about emotions.

Here’s the synopsis:

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Inside Out is coming from Monsters, Inc. and Up director Pete Docter, and stars Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Phyllis Smith, and plenty of others. Take a look at the teaser below, and let us know what you think! Inside Out hits theatres on June 19th, 2015!

Briefly: NBC has just released a new featurette that takes us deeper into the world of Constantine, which is now just a few weeks away from its October 24th premiere.

The video features interviews with Constantine himself, Matt Ryan, as well as executive producers David Goyer and Daniel Cerone. We get plenty of new footage during its 2.5 minute runtime, as well as a few choice comedic moments.

We’re excited. How about you? Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know what you think!

http://youtu.be/2fYYWMtj1Ag

CONSTANTINE follows enigmatic and irreverent Liverpool con-man-turned-occult-detective John Constantine, who is reluctantly thrust into the role of defending our world against dark forces from beyond.

Briefly: Christopher Nolan’s latest is almost here, and today marks the release of the absolutely gorgeous final trailer for the film.

The video is chock-full of incredibly beautiful new footage (those waves!), but it certainly doesn’t diminish the mystery surrounding Nolan’s newest feature. We know that the Earth is dying, and that it’s up to this group to find a way to save the our race by attempting… well, interstellar travel, but we still don’t know the why’s of anything (and I certainly hope that’s something the film goes into)

I can’t wait to see more, and I may even have to take the drive to my nearest (not near at all) IMAX, as 70mm showings of the film are set to begin on Tuesday, November 4th, while traditional theatres won’t see it until Friday the 7th. Take a gander at the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Five long months ago, Sony announced the official, final release date of their long-delayed social racer, Driveclub, and now we’re just a few days away from finally getting our hands on it.

Sure, we still don’t know how the game plays, but we’re well aware of how freaking gorgeous it looks. I’ve been watching loads of new footage for the game over the past few weeks, and there has been nary a video that hasn’t had me whispering ‘wow’ under my breath.

Sony has just released a new, ‘all action’ trailer for the game, and it features plenty of impressive accolades from a variety of publications. I’m very excited to give it a shot next Tuesday, and it’s pretty amazing that Playstation Plus members will get a huge chunk of the game for free.

Here’s what Evolution Studios Community Development Manager had to say about the upcoming release:

Can you believe that you’ll be able to get your hands on DRIVECLUB next week!?

Let’s celebrate with a brand new video showing some of the crazy action and racing you’ll get to experience at launch.

Besides sharing a new video with you, I’d also like to take this time to thank you for your amazing support and patience this year.

The Evo team has done everything possible to make your wait for DRIVECLUB worth it, and it’s the support we get from players that really spurs us on. Keep being awesome and enjoy the game!

Don’t forget, DRIVECLUB is eligible for automatic pre-load so if you’ve pre-ordered the game through PlayStation Store, you’ll be able to jump right in and start racing as soon as DRIVECLUB launches at Midnight Pacific.

PlayStation Plus members can pre-order the game now through PlayStation Store, or if you’d prefer a Blu-ray copy, we have lots of pre-order offers at participating retailers that will give you immediate access to supercars, exclusive livery designs, and a big Fame Point boost to get you ahead of the pack right off the line.

We’d love to keep hearing from you while we continue to bring updates to DRIVECLUB, so get in touch on Twitter and Facebook.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be joining the club.

Briefly: I’m sad that I’m not playing Dying Light already, because the game looks so damned good. I haven’t seen a zombie game look this exciting since Left 4 Dead 2 all the way in 2009 (The Walking Dead game doesn’t count).

The developer today launched a brand new gameplay trailer for the game, which is titled Be The Zombie, and features… well, the player being a zombie in ways that we’ve never really seen before. They’re fast, and they look super fun.

It’s easy to see from this new video (and the previously released ones) that this game is coming together nicely. I was a big fan of Techland’s previous effort, Dead Island (despite its myriad of small issues), and Dying Light is certainly one of my most anticipated titles of 2015. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know how excited you are for this one! Dying Light will hit PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on January 27th, 2015.

Briefly: We’re finally just one week away from the anticipated premiere of American Horror Story‘s next tale, Freak Show, and FX has just released a real trailer, as well as the intro for the upcoming season.

The new trailer shows off the phenomenal characters (just look at the two headed Sarah Paulson) and vibrant setting (1952 Florida) of the new series, and really gets us excited to see what Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and their team have come up with.

American Horror Story: Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.

Take a look at the new trailer, and this season’s intro below, and let us know what you think! American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres on October 8th.

Briefly: So Taken was cool. Taken 2 on the other hand, was so bad that I don’t remember a single thing about it… except for that it was bad. Taken 3 probably takes the concept a little too far, but at least there’s no possible way that it could be as bad as its new title, Tak3n.

Yep.

Today marks the debut of the film’s first trailer and poster, and after watching the preview I can definitely say that I’m down for the film for a couple of reasons. First, Liam Neeson’s voice alone makes it worth watching. And second, the first film was really, really cool, so maybe everyone involved can recapture some of that for this third outing.

I mean, Neeson can’t just be doing this for the paycheque, right? Right!?

In any case, take a look at the poster and trailer below, and let us know what you think! Tak3n hits theatres on January 9th!

Briefly: We’re getting a sixth season of Community, which is absolutely incredible in itself, and something that we never thought would happen.

Sadly, Shirley will not be a part of it.

TVGuide broke the news earlier today, and we’ve been hanging our heads in sadness ever since. It was hard to be too upset with the actress however, when she explained why she left:

“My dad needs daily care and he needs me. The idea of being away 16 hours a day for five months, I couldn’t do it. It was a difficult decision for me to make, but I had to choose my dad.”

Family comes first, and rightly so.

How the show will handle her departure will certainly be interesting, but Yvette says that “I am totally open to whatever Dan decides. I’m glad it won’t be hard for them to explain where she is. She has three kids, a degree and a business. There are a lot of ways to explain her [departure].” It was also noted that she may be open to guest appearances.

So, we’ve now lost Shirley, Pierce, and Troy (though there are some rumours that he’ll be making a return). Are you still excited for the sixth season? Or is half the cast disappearing too much for you?

We’ll be sure to share more Community news as soon as we hear it!

Briefly: We’re just two weeks into Gotham‘s first season, and following two polarizing episodes and a new trailer showing off what we can expect to see this season, and now Fox has treated us to not one, but two new featurettes for the popular series.

One video digs into both the young, popular music loving Bruce Wayne and his stern butler and guardian Alfred, while the other gets us up close and personal with a young Selina Ky… er, sorry, Cat.

I’m feeling pretty mixed on Gotham so far. It’s had a few moments that I’ve loved, a bunch that I’ve hated, and some downright gorgeous cinematography. Let’s just hope that as the series progresses it pulls an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and goes from okay/mediocre to downright stellar.

Take a look at the featurettes below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: AMC just ordered The Walking Dead spinoff series to pilot a few weeks ago, and we now have snippets of information on some of the series’ main characters.

Little is known about the series at this point, but The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman will act as executive producer along with Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert, while Sons of Anarchy writer Dave Erickson will act as showrunner on the new adaptation. The series is thought (though not confirmed) to be a prequel that chronicles the early days of the infection and zombie apocalypse.

Here’s who we’ll be seeing (via TVLine)

SEAN CABRERA | A Latino male in his early 40s, Sean is a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.

CODY CABRERA | Sean’s whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.

NANCY TOMPKINS | A thirtysomething single mom to two kids, Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her.

NICK TOMPKINS | Nancy’s screwed up teenage son. He’s too old to stay home, too scared to flee.

ASHLEY TOMPKINS | Nancy’s mostly level-headed teenage daughter. Her ambition is in direct proportion to her older brother’s failures. She loves her mom but it’s time to get out of Dodge.

ANDREA CHAPMAN | A somewhat wilted flower child, fortysomething Andrea — yep, another Andrea! — has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage.

That’s right folks. We all loved Andrea so much the first time around that we’re getting another one.

All jokes aside, are you down for yet another version of The Walking Dead? Or is one series, a comic, and an incredible video game enough? Sound out below, and we’ll be sure to share more spinoff news as we hear it!

Briefly: We were pretty disappointed when Shinji Mikami’s return to survival-horror, The Evil Within, was pushed back to October, and our hands-on with the game back in June certainly didn’t table our excitement. But now the game is almost here, the delay is all-but-forgotten, and we’re more than eager for Mikami and co. to scare the pants off us.

The game is scheduled for release on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on October 14, and Bethesda today debuted a fantastic, extremely cinematic new trailer for the title.

Here’s what SJ thought when she played the game back at E3:

And it is scary. We screamed a little bit during our play through. And at one point, as we were sloshing waist deep through thick, congealing blood attempting to solve a puzzle to get to the next room, we were certainly viscerally affected by the well-realized world. Stealth and sneak attacks are preferred; noise and light draw unwanted attention. And the zombie/monster/box-man creatures? Only stay dead after you burn them. And matches are in short supply.

Between The Evil Within and Hideo Kojima/Guillermo Del Toro’s Silent Hills, it sounds like a phenomenal time to be a survival horror fan. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! If you’re a PS4 owner and you haven’t checked out P.T., you’re definitely missing out!

Universal today released a new featurette that digs deeper into Dracula Untold. The brutal looking film digs into the untold (duh) origin of Dracula, and looks to paint the character in a different light than we usually see him: a hero who turns to darkness to protect the ones he loves.

The film stars Luke Evans, Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Diarmaid Murtagh, Samantha Barks, and more, and hits theatres on October 17th. Take a look at the features below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Following the film’s delay back in June, Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures today debuted the third trailer for next year’s anticipated Wachowski film, Jupiter Ascending.

This trailer (like the last ones) shows a return to sci-fi-action for the directors, whose previous venture Cloud Atlas failed to capture critics and viewers alike. I thought the film looked absolutely brilliant from its trailers and advertising, but felt that the full feature was an unmemorable, dull mess.

I certainly hope that the very sci-fi film can bring the spark of The Matrix back once again. Only time will tell of course, but for now, at least we have this damn cool trailer. This preview tells us much more about the plot of the film than we’ve seen thus far, and it looks damn flashy while doing it.

Take a look at Jupiter Ascending‘s third trailer below, and let us know if you’re excited! The film stars Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Sean Bean, Douglas Booth, and plenty of others, and hits theatres on February 6th.

Briefly: Marvel is already having a great year, but they’re not even close to being done with us (or our wallets) yet. Sure Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the best films of the year, but Marvel and Disney have also teamed up to create the first Marvel animated feature: Big Hero 6.

The film is “an action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city. Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action and all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, the CG-animated “Big Hero 6″ hits theaters in 3D on November 7, 2014.”

Today, Disney debuted a new trailer for the film. It definitely gives us a much better look at the feature’s plot, and even goes into the origins of Baymax. You can take a look at the video below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Briefly: Sure, the whole thing looks insanely generic, but it also looks pretty creepy. While I thought the Ouija segments in films like Paranormal Activity were very effective… I don’t know how it could be turned into an entire feature.

Enter Ouija, the entirely generic yet oddly satisfying adaptation of the ancient paranormal communication device Hasbro board game.

In Ouija, a group of friends must confront their most terrifying fears when they awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board. Stiles White directs the supernatural thriller that is produced by Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller (The Purge, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th) alongside Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity and Insidious series, The Purge), Bennett Schneir (Battleship) and Hasbro. Juliet Snowden and Stiles White wrote the script for Ouija, and Universal will distribute the film worldwide.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Ouija hits theatres October 24th!

Briefly: We’d almost be lining up for Kingsman: The Secret Service right about now, had it not been for that unfortunate delay to February of last year.

Instead of seeing the feature, it looks like we’ll have to settle for this awesome new trailer, in which Colin Firth kicks some serious ass.

The performances look fantastic, the action is bad-ass, and we really cannot wait to see more. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think. Kingman: The Secret Service stars Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton and Samuel L. Jackson, and hits theatres on February 13th, 2015.

Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, X-Men First Class), Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

Briefly: Sure, we already know some of what’s set to happen in Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World, but one prior uncertainty was just where in the Jurassic Park franchise this film would sit: was it a reboot? Was it connected? I don’t recall seeing any of that information… until now.

Trevorrow has celebrated Autumn’s coming by posting a rather revealing photo to twitter. It’s an image that should definitely resonate with fans of the franchise, and one that leads to many questions about just how Jurassic World came to be. Take a look at the photo below, and you’ll see what I mean.

Yep, that sign and its fateful, spinning arrows partially led Dennis Nedry to his untimely demise, and a shaving cream can full of embryo’s to be forgotten, until now? Sure, they only had 36 hours of cooling, but science has come a long way since Jurassic Park, hasn’t it?

In any case, especially after the disaster that was Jurassic Park 3, I’m more than excited for a new take on the series. Jurassic World hits theatres on July 12th, 2015!

Briefly: You can stop speculating. HBO has finally, finally revealed just who will be taking the starring roles in the next season of their more-than-phenomenal series, True Detective.

Season two will begin production of its eight-episode second season later this fall, and ScorpionFast and Furious 6, and Community director Justin Lin will helm the first two episodes.

So who’s starring?

Colin Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.

Vaughan

Vince Vaughn is Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.

We’ll be sure to keep you up to date on any additional casting, but be sure to let us know what you think of the news so far! One thing we know for certain: the premiere is too damned far away!

Briefly: Following the latest casting announcement back in August, our first official look at Powers last week, Sony has debuted four new stills from the anticipated series, as well as some news as to when we’ll get to see more.

The series is set to premiere its first episode on Sony’s own Playstation Network this December… which is a weird but intriguing idea (and I probably won’t get it because I’m in Canada), and although I’m not overly familiar with the comic book series myself, it’s got a pretty stellar creative team coming together, so I’m definitely looking forward to checking it out.

Here’s the official synopsis. I’m sure glad that it’s edgy and dramatic (because in a post TDK world what else is there):

Powers, an edgy dramatic series from Sony Pictures Television and inspired by the graphic novel series of the same name, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals? Enter the men and women of the Powers Division, the only people brave enough to go up against the overpaid, commercialized, superhumans who glide through the sky imposing their power over the crowds below who both worship and fear them.

Honestly, from that synopsis alone, it sounds like a bad-ass story, and I may have to check out the comic before the show ever has a chance to premiere.

You can take a look at the four new images below, and head further south for all of the New York Comic-Con info. Are you looking forward to the series?

“From the minute he stepped onto the set Sharlto has invested every part of himself into this role. He adds layers and layers into Christian Walker. He is doing everything I hoped he would do, which is make the television version of this character unique and exciting,” said Bendis. “And Susan, my god! From her very first audition she has embodied the character of Deena Pilgrim. I think people are going to be completely sucked in by both of their performances and unique perspectives on this world that Charlie Huston has built.”

“No matter how many guns or super powers you throw into a TV show, no one is going to watch if they don’t give a damn about your main characters. Sharlto and Susan are my secret weapons, my super powers; dynamic talents that viewers will definitely give a damn about,” adds showrunner and writer, Charlie Huston.
