After rumors ran rampant over who the next addition to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster would be after Nintendo UK accidentally let it slip that it would be an SNK character, it was revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct that Fatal Fury protagonist Terry Bogard would be coming to the all-star brawler in November.

As a fighting game icon in his own right, Terry originated in Fatal Fury: The King of Fighters. His no-nonsense, in your face fighting style has become as memorable as his instantly recognizable look and catchphrases, being one of the more charismatic characters in the genre. Despite his franchise taking a backseat to the crossover team game, The King of Fighters, Terry has remained a mascot for the company who has seen it through its most prosperous and trying times. While not as prominent in recent years, Terry has a rich history in both fighting games and SNK as a whole. Now with SNK back on the upswing with games like The King of Fighters 14, the upcoming 15, and the recently released Samurai Showdown, this welcomed surprise couldn’t have been timed any better.

But perhaps even bigger was the announcement that even more DLC will be on the way. Who do you want to make the cut? And who do you think the last character in Fighter Pass 1 will be? Did you catch all the references in Terry’s reveal trailer? Check it out below and tell us what you thought!

With the recent announcement of Super Smash Bros. for the Switch, debates have broken out all across the Internet over which characters should be added to the next iteration of Nintendo’s acclaimed brawler. Legendary figures from gaming’s past and present will be meeting for the fifth time, meaning that only the most influential characters will be able to move the needle this time. By building off of the success of past games, we were inclined to throw our hat in the ring, compiling the definitive list of newcomers that can take the game to new heights.

Lyn

As a game severely lacking in anime sword wielders, Lyn is a great place to start. As the most popular female in the series based on the Fire Emblem Heroes character poll, there’s no reason why the wanderer of the plains shouldn’t be upgraded from her two time assist trophy status. As we know, the many fantastic sword users that fill the Smash Bros roster are a huge part of its success. Such a legendary fighting game can only be improved with the ability to control Fire Emblem’s top tier waifu.

Tharja

I’ll give you two reasons why Tharja should be in Smash Bros. Namely her powerful spells and her sadistic personality. But while the dark mage has plenty of obvious assets to make her a valuable fighter on the battlefield, the seductive Awakening mage will always be welcomed on the roster as far as I’m concerned.

Marth (Mystery of the Emblem)

The last time Marth was introduced in Smash Bros, we got what would become a multi-million selling franchise shared with the West after Japan tried to horde this gem for itself. Knowing that, the game can only become more successful if we debut another Marth, right? Which is why the more powerful, more seasoned, and just as androgynous prince from his second game, Mystery of the Emblem, should be included. Who knows, maybe this will lead to people remembering that Codename: S.T.E.A.M. exists or something.

Masked Marth

If there was one thing that made the Wii U version of Smash Bros. great, it was all the Fire Emblem characters and all the clones. Masked Marth combines both to create the first ever clone of a clone. Lucina is bae after all, so why not improve on the amount of Lucina in the game by having her pretend to be Marth for a two-in-one spot on the roster? Talk about efficiency!

Bride Lucina

If there is one thing that Lucina fans would rather do than play Smash Bros. as her, it would be marry her. By making Bride Lucina her own character, players will get to do both. Smash players could only be so lucky, since Fire Emblem Warriors could only witness their beautiful, blushing bride by forking over real money to buy the game’s season pass. Watch both game and body pillow sales soar as Bride Lucina begins to dominate tournaments because of the player’s sheer desire to protect their fictional girlfriend.

Brave Lucina

A small minority of the Smash Bros. fanbase feels like there might be a few too many clones in the game. As an attempt to cater to these players, Lucina can usher in a brand new wave of lance users as her brave form from Fire Emblem Heroes mixes up the sword trend, as exciting as it is. Imagine the reach, the power, and the presence that a perfect soldier such as Lucina in new armor can bring.

Celica

Fire Emblem Warriors had it right when they took the priestess from Fire Emblem Echoes and stripped her of her magic in favor of turning her into a Marth clone. As we’ve established, cloning Marth repeatedly is a formula for success. But what sets Celica apart from the Marth’s and Lucina’s is that she’s so much more adorable that I can’t see Smash continuing as a series without her. As the superior Marth, we might even see some of her magic return. Then again, Robin doesn’t have a clone yet, so that could be another interesting take on Mila’s favorite follower.

Tiki

Nintendo has always prided itself on being a platform for both children and adults. When Fire Emblem debuted in 1990, it took Nintendo’s appreciation for children to uncharted territory when Japan fell in love with Tiki, the centuries old dragon in a 10 year old’s body. After hopping that legal loophole, the next logical leap is an appearance in Smash, which is lacking in both dragon and underage representation. But if little girls aren’t your thing, there’s always…

Adult Tiki

Strictly for the high and mighty players who can’t appreciate the young ones, adult Tiki can’t be solely contained to Awakening. She can do everything Tiki can do, except she does it taller and curvier with a deeper voice. It worked for Link and Young Link, right?

Anna

Aside from Marth, Anna is the most prominent character across the Fire Emblem franchise, appearing in more games than any other warrior. So what if the large majority of those appearances were as an unplayable merchant? The bottom line is that she has a history of selling DLC, helping Nintendo make a lot of money. Her hard work should be rewarded with a Smash Bros appearance, even if we might have to make up how she fights as we go. Will it be with an axe? A dagger? A bow? Does it matter? All I know is that she’s a consistent presence in one of Nintendo’s largest cash cows.

Rowan and Liana

The overwhelmingly charismatic leads of Fire Emblem Warriors can’t be contained to just one game. They hit all of the checkmarks that come with being a playable Smash character, including fighting with giant swords that transform into beams and essentially being gender swaps of each other to artificially add more female characters. But most importantly, for all the people complaining that there are too many sword users in the game, they bring variety to the table by using a sword AND shield. Joining the ranks of legendary warriors like Link, it’s only a matter of time before the twins overtake the Hero of Time as the most iconic shield users in gaming history.

The Hoshido and Nohr Royals

Fire Emblem Warriors proved that if you’re going to add one Royal from the Fates series, you have to add all of them. A larger roster is always better when it comes to fighting games, so imagine our joy when we open up the main menu and are greeted by the pinnacle of Nintendo greatness with characters like Ryoma, Xander, Takumi and Camilla on our screens. If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll get the retainers as DLC! Oh, and speaking of Camilla…

Easter Camilla

One Camilla is pretty great, but Easter Camilla is too good to pass up. This mage offshoot of the wyvern rider is a perfect representation of Heroes, mostly because of her incredibly popular costume. But aside from that, we’re left with… not much else! But if people were willing to dump hundreds of dollars for the chance to randomly pull her on their phones, it will surely result in more game sales for the Switch, right?

Dragon Corrin

As one of the most universally loved characters in Smash Bros history, Corrin was a representation of the best parts of both games. Corrin could be both male and female, had a charge beam, had wings, and of course, a sword. But while normal Corrin could only transform into a dragon during certain moves, this form deserves more love. Let’s just go all the way and have Dragon Corrin as its own character! I can’t think of a dragon that deserves the honor more, especially not Ridley.

The Summoner

After making it to the end of this list, it’s clear that there’s a severe lack of Fire Emblem representation in Smash Bros. with a mere six characters. Even with the previous 14 characters, we’re just scratching the surface of what Nintendo’s greatest franchise has to offer. That’s where the summoner comes in.

Essentially “you” in Fire Emblem Heroes, the summoner’s only power is to summon other Fire Emblem characters. Are you worried about your favorite character not making the cut? Well worry no more, because now you’ll be able to flood the screen with a random assortment of soldiers at your disposal. Now if Nintendo can find a way to make each summon cost real money just like in the mobile game, then we’d be able to fund future Smash Bros. games for years to come.

Well, that’s it! Our definitive, objective list of the character’s we’re hoping to see in Smash Bros. for Switch. Were any of your favorites missing that you want to add, such as Chrom, Eliwood or Micaiah? Let us know in the comments and help make the best game even better.

The past seven days have been big for amiibo collectors out there. After over a year of anticipation, the Super Smash Bros line is finally complete with the release of Cloud, Corrin and Bayonetta. If that wasn’t enough, three new Inklings hit the scene day and date with Splatoon 2, while the Pikmin themselves made their solo debut in plastic form today, lining up with the release of Hey! Pikmin on the 3DS.

As if the addiction wasn’t apparent enough, we’ve gathered all ten and have unboxed them for your viewing pleasure. Check out the video below to see them up close, and let us know which ones are your favorites in the comments! Don’t forget to subscribe!

Briefly: It’s about time.

Matt detailed Nintendo’s rough launch plans for Miitomo back in February, and today the big N finally revealed that anticipating gamers in Canada and North America will be able to join Miitomo as of March 31st!

Nintendo notes that the app had an incredibly successful launch in Japan, boasting that the title was downloaded over “1 million times in its first three days of availability, while achieving the #1 most downloaded free app status in both the App Store and Google Play storefronts.”

Now it’s our turn. The company states that you can actually pre-register for Miitomo right now, right here, and that doing so, you’ll “receive an email when the app is ready to download. People that create their Nintendo Account and preregister before March 31 will also receive Platinum Points for the new My Nintendo rewards program, which will simultaneously launch with Miitomo. Aiming to be much more than a standard rewards program, My Nintendo is a comprehensive service that rewards users for interacting with Nintendo products and services in a variety of ways. Miitomo users who link the app to their Nintendo Account will be able to take advantage of My Nintendo to enhance their experience. Platinum Points can be earned by interacting with Nintendo apps and services, including Miitomo. Gold Points are earned when purchasing digital versions of games from Nintendo.com or Nintendo eShop on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Both Platinum and Gold Points can be redeemed for rewards like games, download content, in-app items and eShop discount coupons.”

It sounds pretty danged easy to get starting with Miitomo: “After downloading the application for free on the App Store for iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, along with Android devices, users create a Mii character and customize facial features like eyes and hair, as well as voice and personality. Users can also use the camera on their smart devices to snap a photo of themselves, which can be used to create a Mii, or they can simply import their Mii from theirWii U or Nintendo 3DS systems using a QR Code.

Once their Mii is ready, users can add friends who already have the app in person, or by linking the app with their existing Facebook or Twitter accounts. After that step is complete, it’s time to answer some questions! Miitomo creates conversations and turns discussions into a form of play by prompting users to answer all kinds of fun questions. How would you define your fashion style? What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten? If you were given 10 grand to spend in one day, what would you do? The answers get shared among friends, sparking interesting conversations – part of the fun is discovering unexpected facts about your friends. When users hear how their friends responded to questions, they can give answers a “heart” or a written or picture comment.”

The application looks weird as hell, but as a gamer who doesn’t spend a lot of time at home, I’m beyond excited to try out this unique experience on my iPhone. What are you excited to do in Miitomo? Be sure to sound out in the comments below!

Miitomo

Nintendo has finally unveiled their launch plans for Miitomo, which is their first foray into the mobile game market, soon to be available on iOS and Android devices!

These plans not only allow players to pre-register for an account and updates, but also rewards them for doing so!  As detailed on Business Wire, “Starting Feb. 17, people will be able to pre-register for Miitomo by signing up for the new Nintendo Account service using their existing email, social media accounts or current Nintendo Network IDs.  People who pre-register will be among the first to be notified about the availability of Miitomo when it launches in March.  Nintendo will offer a special Miitomo bonus to anyone who signs up for a Nintendo Account between Feb. 17 and launch.”

Several other features of the game are also detailed, such as lighthearted fun conversations between Mii characters in Miitomo, such as “What song has been stuck in your head lately?” to as wacky as, “If you saw a nose hair sticking out of your friend’s nose, what would you do?”  There will also be a “Miifoto” feature which will allow you to take photos featuring your Mii.  Mii characters are central to this game, and they’ve been used a variety of ways since their introduction in the original Wii console–one of their latest adventures includes a friend and family simulator in Tomodachi Life, where Mii characters can build relationships, engage in activities, and even have families!  They’ve also become characters in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U, taking their powers from the various incarnations they’ve had over the years.  We have no doubt that Miitomo will continue their lighthearted humor and provide a meaningful experience for players, as they allow users to be able to “interact with their friends in an entirely new way that transforms communication into a form of play.”

Miitomo will launch in March, alongside My Nintendo.  Several details have been revealed for the My Nintendo account program, as we have recently found out.

…One last thing!

“Including Miitomo, Nintendo plans to release approximately five smart device applications by the end of March 2017,” according to Business Wire.  Are you excited about this?  We definitely are, and can only imagine what they have in store!

If you haven’t heard, ESPN has just recently announced that they will be going all out in terms of esport coverage on their website.

From live streaming events to now having it’s own tab, E-sports has grown at an amazing rate these last few years. Even cooler is that Nintendo has also grown more friendly with the E-sports crowd to where they’re the main sponsor for Smash Bros at most tournaments now. Speaking of which, Editor of ESPN E-sports Darin has announced that the site will also be covering the beloved nintendo fighting series. This is great for the Smash community seeing as how Nintendo was never really fond of them near the start. Are you excited for the news? What other games do you think they should cover? Let us know in the comments below!

Today marked the final Super Smash Bros.-dedicated Nintendo Direct and, boy, was it a doozy. Not only did it go into further detail about Final Fantasy VII‘s Cloud Strife‘s upcoming inclusion, it also announced the overall top pick for the Fighter’s Ballot poll along with another combatant. So without further ado, here are the new fighter’s joining the roster:

Bayonetta (of the Bayonetta series)

Bayonetta

Coming up as the top pick in Europe and amongst the top five in North America, Bayonetta was the winner of the Fighter’s Ballot. The Umbra Witch’s fighting style will focus on stringing together combos of various attacks. Her move “Witch Time” slows down the movement of any opponents nearby. Bayonetta’s signature stage, The Umbra Clock Tower, features moving platforms and and an alternate version of the stage. Bayonetta and her exclusive stage are scheduled to launch in February 2016. The download can be purchased for the Wii U or 3DS for $5.99 or both systems for $6.99.

Corrin (of Fire Emblem Fates)

Corrin

If you are asking the question, “Who the heck is Corrin?,” odds are that you haven’t been following the development of Fire Emblem Fates. This fighter (you can select the gender, just like Wii Fit Trainer and Villager) has the ability to transform into a dragon and pull off powerful attacks including ones that pin your opponents. Corrin looks to be available to download in February 2016, on individual platforms for $4.99 each or together for $5.99.

Cloud Strife (of Final Fantasy VII)

WiiU_Cloud_screen_04_bmp_jpgcopy

We were briefly acquainted with Cloud in the previous Nintendo Direct, but today we were able to look more deeply at the mechanics of his fighting style as well as see what makes Midgar, his exclusive stage, special. As we saw before, Cloud will have two costumes available, his original SOLDIER uniform along with his outfit from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. And just like in FFVII, our hero will have his “Limit Break” ability, which can be activated once the limit meter is full. The meter fills as Cloud takes and gives damage as well as when he performs his Down Special Attack. Let’s talk about the Midgar battle stage. Throughout the stage, summon material will appear, allowing players to wreak arena-wide damage from which only the summoner is protected. Expect cameos from summon spirits like Ifrit, Ramuh, and Shiva. Cloud’s DLC will be available later today, costing either $5.99 for individual consoles or $6.99 for both the Wii U and 3DS.

If you thought that was it, you are wrong. Dead wrong, in fact! There were a host of new Mii Fighter costumes revealed too. From top to bottom, they are: Ashley, Geno (yes, Geno from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is in Smash (sort of)!), Chocobo Hat, Bionic Armor (available for both genders), Takamaru, Tails, Knuckles, and Gil. The Geno and Chocobo Hat costumes will launch with the Cloud DLC while the others will be released in February 2016.

But wait, there’s more! Like all Smash Bros. characters, Bayonetta, Cloud, and Corrin will be getting Amiibo. Our wallets weep.

Smash fans REJOICE!

Nintendo has finally revealed the date for their final Super Smash Bros. centered Nintendo Direct.

You won’t be waiting long for it, because it’s currently scheduled for Tuesday December 15th at 2PM Pacific Time.

While this is the final direct dedicated solely to Smash Bros, it’s very likely that we’ll continue to see minor game updates via regular Directs in the future.

What do you want to see announced during this Direct? Comment below!

Today’s Nintendo Direct revealed many games and DLC, but nothing came out of left field as much as the announcement that Final Fantasy VII‘s Cloud Strife, would be joining the roster of Smash Bros. The spiky-haired hero bears about the same appearance as he did in Final Fantasy: Crisis Core. Cloud’s two costumes (the only ones shown anyways) were his traditional battle attire and his outfit from Advent Children.

His battle stage, the city of Midgar, appears to have the series’ summon creatures, like Ramuh and Odin, pop up as hazards. Cloud’s attack moves include his final limit break, Omnislash. The little title message on the top of the screen from the original game remains intact (see image below).

Is your wallet ready for the next wave of Super Smash Bros DLC?

If not, that’s too bad because it’s already here! Dropping just last night, Smash Bros Owners can now purchase the long awaited Super Mario Maker Stage from the E-shop for about $2.49 per version or $3.49 for both versions. That’s not all, as fans were also treated to 2 extra stages. Wii U owners can set sail on the Pirate Ship inspired by The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for $1.99, while 3DS owners can finally experience the retro Duck Hunt stage in all it’s glory for FREE! They also added brand new Mii costumes inspired by Monster Hunter, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and more.

If you’re interested in seeing these stages and costumes in action, check out Gamexplain’s awesome tour of them. Also on a side note: There are only 3 DAYS LEFT for the fan ballot. Make sure to do your duty and vote for who you think deserves a roster slot (or just vote for Banjo Kazooie since they’re the best.) If you haven’t voted yet, you can vote here.

Well, this is a nice surprise.

Nintendo has just announced that a stage based off Super Mario Maker will be MAKING (sorry for the pun) it’s way to Super Smash Bros For Nintendo 3DS & Wii U by the end of the month. It’s unknown if the stage will be free or not, but the terrain and art style will be randomly generated ever time you play it. To see this stage in action, check out the awesome trailer below.

Just as you thought you could take a break from the hunt, Nintendo pulls you back in!

In a recent press release, Nintendo announced that a variety of new Amiibo figures will launch on September 11th to coincide with the release of Super Mario Maker. Including the retro colored 8-Bit Mario, the Smash Bros line of figures, including Dr. Mario, Zero Suit Samus, and Olimar to name a few, pre order plans will be set by the individual retailers at a later date.
The full list of announced figures is as follows:
  • 30th Anniversary Mario Classic Color
  • Zero Suit Samus
  • Ganondorf
  • Olimar
  • Bowser Jr.
  • Dr. Mario

Amiibo September Screen 1

In addition, the much rumored Retro 3-Pack was confirmed for September 25th, bundling R.O.B., Duck Hunt and Mr. Game and Watch in one package. The Mii Fighter pack on the other hand, was officially pushed to November from its original September launch window, but was also confirmed as a three character bundle. As for the modern colored 8-Bit Mario, Mewtwo, the Chibi Robo set, and the Yoshi Yarn plushies, details will be released on a future date.

The best news of all? While it wasn’t explicitly stated, it seems like none of the figures mentioned above are store exclusives! That means we can choose where we decide to throw away a good evening camping out for these guys! Which ones are you going to pick up in lieu of valuable time with friends and family? Sound off below!

If you’re still in the Amiibo hunt, you might want to set your alarms for Friday afternoon!

Amazon announced that Palutena would go on sale on Friday, July 24th, at 2 PM PST. One click ordering will be disabled, so everyone who signs in will have an equal chance of obtaining it. Oh, and if you wanted to hoard a ton of characters for yourself, (or sell them to avoid real work,) then sorry. It will be one per customer this time around. Considering how big Amazon is, I’m hoping that they will have plenty in stock to appease all of the gamers who will be viciously assaulting their keyboards trying to buy the Goddess of Light, but then again, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

From Amazon:

“We have ample quantities of this amiibo, but we still expect to sell out. Please act quickly at 2:00 p.m. PT on Friday for your best chance at buying Palutena. Demand is expected to be very high, and there’s no guarantee that she will remain in stock for long.”

Previously, we reported that Palutena would be an Amazon exclusive, resulting in a collective groan from Amiibo hunters who are starting to get tired of these hoops that North America has to jump through just to buy these things. Regardless, it’s looking like some retailers are becoming more proactive with communicating their plans to their ravenous customers, giving everyone a fair shot at snagging a rare figure before the scalpers do, which is a step in the right direction.

Will you be at your computer come Friday? Or are you over all the stress that comes with wanting to give Nintendo your money?

After months of speculation, dread, and deep, dark fear, rumors of the Palutena amiibo being available at all retailers has officially been debunked. On Twitter, Amazon announced that for the first time, the online retailer would have their own retailer exclusive figure in the form of the Goddess of Light herself.

Following suit with her Kid Icarus: Uprising co-star, Dark Pit, who is a Best Buy exclusive, Palutena marks a first for the popular Nintendo Toys to Life, serving as the only one in the series to be sold exclusively online. Promising to release details for everyone who signs up for email alerts on July 22nd, the figure itself will go on sale at some point on Friday, July 24th.

Like Brock Lesnar, I’m sure we all have our F5’s ready. Is anyone else planning on being up at an ungodly hour to secure their own goddess? Or are you over the whole Amiibo craze? Let us know your hunting strategies in the comments!

The challenge was issued last year when Nintendo of America COO, Reggie Fils-Amie, famously told pro Jigglypuff player, Hungrybox, that he would “kick his ass,” at Smash Bros. After so much time has passed, it gave the Reginator enough time to practice to a point where he could hold his own against someone so prominent in the Smash community.

Okay, maybe not so much.

After saying that he would give H-Box a job if he wins, last year’s champion arrogantly stated that he is an engineer and didn’t want his job. From there, it was clear that Reggie’s body wasn’t ready for what was about to happen. After diving off the stage within the first few seconds as the recently released Ryu, (a character that’s more complicated to use compared to the rest of the cast,) what took place on stage could only be described as a massacre, showing that just because you run a company that promotes games doesn’t mean you’re good at them.

Reggie Smash Image 1

In the end, it was all in good fun, and it was great seeing a COO put himself in a position like that. Sure, he bit off more than he could chew, but it was a great moment for an eventful night. Too bad he didn’t showcase Ryu too well, which I’m guessing was the intention of choosing him.

Turns out the leaks were real!

During the special Smash Bros Nintendo Direct presentation, in addition to the reveal of a new set of amiibo, and the confirmation of yesterday’s leaks with Ryu and Roy’s character reveals, the news that stole the show was that the new DLC was available immediately after the presentation closed!

Including the rumored Mii Fighter costumes, the Kirby stage from Smash 64, Roy, Ryu and the previously announced Lucas, the entire package will set you back just under $30 for both versions. If you don’t want everything the set has to offer, the bundle costs the same as if you bought each item individually. Standard characters costs $4 for one version and $5 for both Wii U and 3DS access. Ryu comes with a $7 and $8 price tag, which includes his Street Fighter II inspired stage, three versions of both his and Ken’s themes, and the character himself, who rewards players with extra damage for actually inputting his attacks with the same commands as his native game. When you top these off with the $2/$3 Kirby stage and the costumes, (including Tekken, Mega Man, Animal Crossing and Virtua Fighter inspired gear,) at under $1/$2, there’s plenty of content to bring players back into the arena.

Of course, the eShop was having trouble keeping up with the traffic, but keep trying! Let us know what you think of the new characters, and share your Nintendo ID’s so we can get some games going!

Ouch, my wallet.

This morning’s pre-E3 Super Smash Bros. focussed direct confirmed yesterday’s Roy and Ryu rumours, and surprisingly enough, those characters, along with the previously-announce returning fighter Lucas, are available right now (more on that in another post).

Also revealed, more of my favourite and most hated items in the entire universe, Amiibo.

During the stream, the big N revealed that every Super Smash Bros. character will receive and Amiibo figure. This includes Roy, Ryu and the other DLC characters, and… I’m going to go freaking broke.

The next wave of Amiibo figures was also revealed, and include R.O.B., Mr. Game and Watch, Duck Hunt, and Falco. They’ll join the previously announced Bowser Jr., Dr. Mario, Zero Suit Samus, Ganondorf, and Olimar this September. This is terrifying. Wave 4 was hard enough to acquire, and Nintendo doesn’t seem to be getting any better at stocking these things, so with an even bigger wave on its way, I really don’t know what I’m going to do. As you can see from the video, the Mr. Game and Watch Amiibo has various poses, which is a cool distinction that we haven’t seen in the other figures.

Are you still on the Amiibo hunt? Who are you missing so far? Are you planning to collect the entire Smash series? Sound out below!

Aww, you were just a day away from keeping it a surprise, Nintendo.

If two allegedly leaked YouTube videos are to be believed, then it looks like Fire Emblem‘s Roy is making his grand return alongside Ryu, the face of the Street Fighter series. The two reels show what appears to be their arcade mode ending sequences, showing off small glimpses of what they have in store for their opponents once their release date comes.

From what we can tell, Roy still has similarities to Marth, the character his move set was cloned from in Melee. Still, a closer look at his animations, (namely his Up-B attack,) seem to have some slight differences compared to his past attacks. Is there a chance that Roy will be more of his own character, especially when Lucina already fills the role of a Math clone?

Ryu on the other hand, looks like he’s bringing something completely new to the Smash Bros arena. Coming equipped with his focus attacks, hadoukens, shoryukens and hurricane kicks, (feel free to spell out the Japanese name, because I’m not doing it,) most telling is the legendary fighter’s apparent ability to perform legitimate combos, something which isn’t normally possible outside of high level play. Will this change the way players approach the game? I can’t wait to find out!

Alongside these leaks, further rumors suggest new trophies for the Inkling and Ryu’s best friend, Ken, a new Dreamland 64 stage, Ryu’s iconic Street Fighter II Dojo stage, and Mii Fighter costumes, including Zero from Mega Man X, Mega Man .EXE, Akira and Jacky from Virtua Fighter, Animal Crossing‘s Isabelle and Heihachi from Tekken. At this point, we’re almost guaranteed to get the official word from Nintendo during E3 week, but it seems like the cat’s out of the bag.

While not terribly surprising for those who knew that sound files for Roy and Ryu were part of the Mewtwo update, it’s still surreal to see the biggest fighting game icon make an appearance in Nintendo’s all star brawler as the first, true original character as part of Smash’s DLC line up. Roy is a little more expected, since I felt his inclusion was an inevitability once DLC was announced, but I’m hoping more unique characters see their returns soon, (especially Wolf, Snake and Ice Climbers, although the last two probably aren’t possible.) Speaking of Snake, if copyright is an issue, can we at least slap his move set on the Mach Rider guy or something?

What’s your reaction to the news, and who would you like to see next?

June 14th is turning out to be an eventful day! Between the Nintendo World Championships, the release of Lucas, a new stage, and character costumes for Super Smash Bros., and our very own Geekscape picnic, it’s not as if we needed more plans for that day! But when it comes to new Smash news, I’m sure we’ll find a way to spare 20 minutes.

Starting at 7:40 AM Pacific, Nintendo will broadcast a new Nintendo Direct, hosted by Masahiro Sakurai himself. The only thing being promised at this point is new content, so while I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high out of fear that the previously announced DLC will be all that is discussed, I can’t help but feel that something big is coming, especially just outside of E3. And if new characters are announced separately from the main E3 Direct, how amazing will Nintendo’s presentation be on the 16th if Smash of all things got bumped?

Will we see Roy return? Or will the rumored Ryu be confirmed? Will Chibi Robo get in in light of its newly announced game!? Let the speculation begin! Tell us who you want to see, then come back and compare your predictions after the Direct wraps up!

Nintendo has announced that on June 14th, Super Smash Bros. will receive its next DLC update, including Brawl favorite, Lucas.

Hailing from the Game Boy Advance RPG, Mother 3, (which STILL has yet to be released in the West,) Lucas looks like he’s bringing all the abilities he had from his last appearance. Similar to Mother 2/Earthbound star, Ness at first glance, each of Lucas’ special moves have different properties. Relying more on his trademark PSI moves for his standard attacks, these moves extend his reach with most moves while relying less on tools. Top that off with his trusty Rope Snake for long range grabbing or edge tethering, and it’s easy to see why Lucas was so missed.

Previously announced alongside Mewtwo’s release date, Lucas will release for $3.99 for one version of Smash, or $4.99 for both the Wii U and 3DS. In addition, a free Miiverse themed stage, and the Splatoon costume pack for the playable Mii characters, (which will be free for those who kept their GameStop pick up receipts for the new shooter,) will also be added, helping an already large game get that much bigger.

What characters do you hope join the battle next?

If you thought that Super Smash Bros. has ran its course, think again. During yesterday’s hype filled Nintendo Direct, the company had a ton of news to share for the blockbuster fighter, much of which was completely unexpected.

First, if you’re one of the people who have been waiting on baited breath for the Mewtwo DLC that was announced late last year, you won’t have to wait much longer. For those who registered their copies of the game for both the Wii U and 3DS, the legendary Pokemon will be available for download at no extra charge on April 15th. For everyone else, they’ll have to fork over $3.99 for one game, or $4.99 for both and wait until April 28th. Check out its reveal trailer below, including its Final Smash, complete with its Mega Mewtwo Y form and its signature Psystrike attack!

Next, also on April 15th, Mii Fighters will receive the downloadable costume treatment. Highlights of the first set of outfits include a Link costume, a Majora’s Mask headgear item, Dunban’s duds from Xenoblade Chronicles, Mega Man X and Protoman costumes, along with Smash T-Shirts, cat suits and monkey suits, (seriously, what’s with Nintendo’s animal suit obsession these days?) Each item has four download options, at either $.75 each, $1.15 each for both the 3DS and Wii U versions, or $6.00 and $9.20 for the entire set for one or both consoles.

Third, and easily the biggest surprise to come out of the Smash Bros. news wave, is that Lucas is making his big return! The protagonist of Mother 3 and formerly cut Smash Bros. Brawl newcomer is returning, with most of his moves seemingly intact. Will he get a new Final Smash, different pricing from Mewtwo or any other major changes? We have no idea! What we do know, is he will be released in June and his reveal trailer is pretty sweet. Check it out!

And lastly, if Lucas and Mewtwo aren’t your favorites and you think you could come up with a better downloadable roster, now’s your chance! A trip over to the official Smash Bros. website links to a poll where you can write in who you would want to appear as future DLC for the title, with a deadline of October 3rd.

Our own Eric Francisco has urged us to write in Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes, but we have enough sword users! If you don’t write in Ray MK II from Custom Robo, Chibi Robo from, well… Chibi Robo, or Issac from Golden Sun, then we can’t be friends. I mean sure, Issac has a sword, but at least his character model is complete as a former Assist Trophy and would have unique Psynergy attacks. At the very least, vote Starman from Pro Wrestling! A winner can never be you without him! Then again, while the site says one vote per person, there’s nothing actually stopping us from voting more than once. Just saying…

With so much news, it seems like we’ll be settling it in Smash for a long time. Comment below to tell us what you’re most excited about, and who you’re going to vote in as the next DLC character!

Yesterday on the official Super Smash Bros. Facebook page, the wonderful human beings that do the work of gods (the game designers) have opened the doors, so to speak, to “any video game character” for inclusion as downloadable content. Yes, this character will be made available for Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS, but Nintendo needs to find out who.

From the official voting page:

Do you want your favorite video-game character to join the battle in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U? Well, here’s your chance. If you post a video-game character’s name, we’ll consider turning that character into a Smash fighter! Please limit your vote to one per person.

Of course fans are already rallying behind their mascots like a high school pep rally. Viewtiful Joe seems like the most popular, while the unlikely Goku is getting buzz. You might even hear totally-not-happening characters like Batman, and other why-aren’t-they-already-included names like Phoenix Wright, Knuckles, and Roy.

But I’m hear to plead to you — the kick-ass, dedicated Geekscape community — to vote for one name and one name only.

Travis fuckin’ Touchdown.

From the twisted mind of punk rock auteur Suda51, Travis Touchdown is/was the anti-hero heart of No More Heroes which was one of the only reasons why anyone bought a Wii (besides, you know, Super Smash Bros. Brawl).

This 27-year-old foul mouthed nerd that would have rallied behind #GamerGate if he actually existed is the biggest asshole ever created in binary code, and a perfect fit for Super Smash Bros. Precisely because he would stick out so much.

He’s vile. He’s aggressive. He’s disgusting. His mouth is dirtier than an Atlantic City bar bathroom. He wields a god damn lightsaber (which were actually based on the Schwartz from Spaceballs) and slices people in half without mercy.

There has already been a precedent for hardcore killers in the generally family-centric Smash series before. Snake raised a lot of eyebrows with his inclusion a few years ago, but when you saw him fly on drones dangling like an idiot and fire rocket launchers right in front of himself, he fit in just fine to the bizarre cartoon. Not that the Metal Gear series are spy simulators, but if Snake could come from that world and be included and Travis can’t — No More Heroes is about as weird as it can be, and Nintendo loves weird — then we have no standards at all.

I reiterate that No More Heroes and to a lesser extent No More Heroes 2 were extremely popular titles for the Nintendo Wii (their later ports to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were not well-received). Playing No More Heroes was dependent on motion control, the very thing that made the Wii THE Christmas toy of 2006.

There are no immediate plans for another No More Heroes as of right now, but it’s a fondly-remembered series that deserves to live on in the hearts and minds of gamers. Travis’s inclusion in Super Smash Bros. For Wii U and 3DS would not only be extremely fucking hilarious, it would serve to remind people of these awesome games of the recent past and to hopefully kickstart that elusive next entry.

So please, Geekscape. I beg of you. Vote for Travis Touchdown.

Or else you’re a fuck head.

Briefly: Amiibo hunters everywhere are preparing for the March 20th launch of the first wave of Super Mario Bros. Collection figures, but little did we know that we’ll actually be getting larger figures this time around.

GameInformer just received their figures prior to next week’s launch, and noted that there’s a pretty substantial difference in the size of these figures in comparison to the Super Smash Bros. lineup. Whether it’s to make the new line feel more like highly-detailed board game pieces (for Mario Party 10‘s Amiibo Party mode, of course), or another reason entirely remains to be seen, but it’s clear from their photos that these new figures look rad… and I can’t wait to buy them all (and camp out for the Golden Mario).

Take a look at a couple of the comparisons below, and head to Game Informer for more.

Need more controllers to fill up those 8-player Smash fests? PDP has you covered.

Following the popular Gamecube inspired Fight Pads featuring designs for Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi, Wave 2 will feature a wider range of Nintendo’s all star roster. Representing Link from The Legend Of Zelda, Metroid‘s Samus Aran, Wario and his classic color scheme, and the iconic ape, Donkey Kong, these Nintendo licensed fight pads will not only help you represent your main as you tear through the competition, but they will work with any title that supports Wii Classic Controls. But most importantly, a Gamecube adapter is NOT REQUIRED to use them! All you need is a Wii Remote to plug them into and you’re good to go!

Pre-orders are available now, with a tentative release set for early 2015 at $24.99 each. Is your favorite character represented? Who would you like to see get the controller treatment next? Can it be Pit? Please, let it be Pit!

After a little over two weeks since release, it seems like Nintendo is already pulling the plug on some of their Amiibo toys to life figurines.

According to the Twitter feed for Canadian video game store Video Games Plus, Nintendo has officially discontinued Marth, Wii Fit Trainer & Villager Amiibo. When they looked to restock these already rare characters, Nintendo supposedly responded that they’ve been discontinued (along with the popular Gamecube adapter).

As many of us suspected would happen, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager and Marth have reportedly ceased production. While more popular characters like Mario, Pikachu, Link and Donkey Kong will still be produced, the more obscure characters aren’t likely to get another run, disappointing many a gamer while prices inflate online in the process (Marth hit $80 last night here in the US).

This decision is bizarre. I realize that not all characters will have the long term marketing power of others, but Smash Bros JUST came out! With only a few arriving in the launch shipments, and the apparent refusal to produce more, it looks like you might have missed out if you didn’t jump on them on day one.

Yet, I still can’t help be surprised by both Villager and Marth. The last Animal Crossing title solidified the series as a bonafide mega series, becoming one of the highest selling titles on the 3DS. While Marth himself isn’t terribly well known, the Fire Emblem series is definitely on the rise, not to mention that the swordsman is a Smash Bros icon, possibly being known more in the States for his role as a fighter than his own series!

If nothing else, this will just instill the fear in all of us over the rest of them selling out. Speaking of, I need to pre order all of Wave 2 now!

UPDATE: According to a copy of an email by Nintendo of America’s Assistant PR Manager, David Young, posted to Twitter, this rumor is untrue and Nintendo is simply working to keep up with demand, especially on the rarer characters.

The letter states:

David from Nintendo jumping in here. We have not discontinued any of the amiibo figures. Naturally some are more popular than others, and stores will need to reorder these once they sell through. That said, I don’t know how long resupply will take, so I encourage people to pick up their favourite characters when they see them in this busy Holiday season.

Who do you believe? I guess we’ll have to keep checking store shelves to find out!

UPDATE #2: So now it turns out that some Amiibo actually HAVE been discontinued! According to Wired, Nintendo reached out and has confirmed in a statement that some Amiibo will not receive additional prints after their initial run.

“We will aim for certain amiibo to always be available. These will be for our most popular characters like Mario and Link. Due to shelf space constraints, other figures likely will not return to the market once they have sold through their initial shipment.”

While no specific figures are mentioned, it’s clear that more obscure characters like Wii Fit Trainer and Marth would be the first to go. What will this mean for characters who aren’t quite on the upper echelon of popularity, like Fox or Samus? What will this mean for future waves? Are we going to have to horde all the Captain Falcon and King Dedede toys? I’ve lost the ability to trust…

So now it seems like David Young lied to us and broke our fragile hearts. Either that, or Nintendo has no idea what they’re doing for sure. All I know is that after becoming such a huge hit, especially when you consider the profit they’re poised to make if Bloomberg is to be believed, refusing to re-stock stores with a product that’s in such high demand would be leaving money on the table, and would be one of the few times that I would agree that Nintendo is out of touch.

Then again, maybe the original plan was to discontinue them, but seeing the high demand will force them to have a change of heart. We can only hope!

Nintendoomed.

After a rough couple of years, with the popular game company suffering consecutive annual losses for the first time in decades, it looks like Nintendo is finally back on track. And they mostly have Amiibo to thank.

According to Bloomberg, Nintendo is on track to triple their profits. On the back of a successful year for the struggling Wii U, titles like Mario Kart 8 (at 3.49 million sold worldwide,) and Super Smash Bros. For Wii U, (which sold 490,000 in three days in the U.S. alone,) the console itself is likely to reach its goal 3.6 million sold for the year.

But aside from the games and the consoles are the Amiibo, Nintendo’s answer to Skylanders and Disney Infinity that lets players purchase toys featuring their favorite Nintendo characters, and pitting them against each other in the latest Smash Bros title, amongst varying functionality throughout other Nintendo titles. Seemingly serving as the new money maker, Nintendo has stated that they’re on track to make $1 billion on U.S. sales alone! There’s no word on whether or not this mostly comes from inflated Marth sales.

It’s no surprise that making cheap figures, mass producing them and selling them for a reasonable price will result in said company rolling in the profits, (just ask Activision!) But $1 billion!? That’s either insane, or a misquote, and they mean Yen. Either way, this is following a surprise profit from the company during the last financial quarter, so it’s safe to say that Nintendoomed is finally put to rest… Right!?

At the very least, let’s hope Nintendo uses their good fortune to take some chances and release some of those games we really want. Fatal Frame, anyone? Or at least a second printing of Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, and Marth?

Note: At time of publishing, the online functionality of Super Smash Bros. had not yet been activated. Impressions are based on single player and local multiplayer onlyI also did not have an opportunity to test out the Amiibo functionality, so I haven’t touched on that in the following body.

Remember when gamers everywhere were whining and groaning that the Wii U didn’t have any games?

Oh, they’re still saying that?

Have they seen the console’s library of freaking exclusives?

Well, Nintendo is about to add another universally-acclaimed title to their roster, and if trends continue, maybe opinionated gamers won’t deem the Wii U such a failure for much longer (well, they probably still will for some reason, but I still love the thing).

Enter Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Now, we’ve all been playing Nintendo’s stellar mobile edition of Super Smash Bros. for nearly two months. Many of us have been through blisters, weeks of strained eyes, broken circle pads, or far worse, so I was beyond looking forward to giving my hands (and my overused 3DS) a much needed break. I grabbed my Pro Controller (which never, ever needs charging apparently), popped in the disc, and instantly witnessed near perfection.

The 3DS edition is almost perfect as it is (aside from a few sub-par modes), but the fact that I could play a match and not want to re-enact the end of Saw on my hands (it would be a less painful alternative, clearly) solidified the Wii U version’s greatness. The beyond-cramped screen and where-did-I-go characters are gone, and seeing our favourite fighters and the beautifully designed stages on a bigger screen and in full HD is an absolute treat. It’s totally silly, but I often find myself pausing (single-player of course) matches at choice moments, panning and zooming the camera, and simply basking in just how freaking beautiful everything looks (and it looks even better in glorious 60FPS motion). Right from the menus, to the backgrounds, to the arenas themselves (a huge 46 stages) to the characters (of which there are 51) and trophies, it would be impossible not to call Super Smash Bros. strikingly gorgeous.

Aside from the (again, stellar) presentation, this edition of Super Smash Bros. adds to the already expansive list of features contained in the 3DS release. Nintendo actually detailed 50 interesting facts about the Wii U version a few weeks back (if you’ve got half an hour, check that out below), but by far the biggest addition to the title is the insanely fun and insanely frustrating 8-player Smash. If you’ve ever thought that four-player Smash Bros. was sometimes too hectic, you will not have a second to even breathe when you double the participants. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a total blast, but in playing this mode with seven lucky friends, we experienced countless “where am I” and “what the heck happened” moments. And then there’s the damned ‘Great Cave Offensive’ arena, where the frustration grows exponentially whenever a fighter leaves the pack (the stage is HUGE). Still, playing with up to eight players means that none of your real-life friends ever have to sit out (nobody has more than seven friends, right?), and the mode is so damned hectic (especially with items on) that someone who has never or rarely played Smash Bros. still has an opportunity for victory, even against a seasoned veteran (I witnessed this many, many times). Of course, to be able to experience 8-player Smash, you need a lot of controllers, which segways me right into one of the coolest aspects of the title (and most first-party releases in general): the controller options.

Nintendo has released a lot of controllers in the 13 years since the GameCube came out. You’ve got the classic GCN controller, the sought-after WaveBird, Wii Remotes, Wii Motion + Remotes, Nunchuks, Classic Controllers, Pro Classic Controllers, Wii U Gamepads, Wii U Pro Controllers, and I’m probably missing a few in that list too. It’s pretty incredible to note that (with an optional adapter to go back to the GCN days) that all of these controllers and attachments are compatible with Super Smash Bros. This means that if you or any of your friends own a Nintendo controller from the last 13 years, you’re set. That’s amazing, and between a group (especially of eight people) it should not be hard to get an entirely full game going. You can even force one of your friends to use a 3DS as a controller if you really, really hate them. My only wish for the GameCube support and optional adapter is that the extend it into other titles down the road. I get that it’s the preferred method of input for competitive Smash play, but what if any game that could feature the Pro or Classic controllers could also utilize the GCN pad?

I think that the thing that I love most about Super Smash Bros. is that I can be completely terrible at it and still have a smashing good time (it was as hard to type that pun as it must be to read it). I’d consider myself a Smash Bros. beginner (aside from this title, I’ve put less than 8 hours into the franchise), and yet, even while playing against friends who have put an uncountable amount of time into the series, and who describe ‘advance techs’ and other mechanics that I can’t even begin to understand, I still have fun. These people absolutely destroy me, each and every match we play, and yet I’m never at a point where I’ve had enough. It’s an incredibly balanced title (or so it seems to this n00b), and each time I’m knocked out, I feel it completely justified. I can see the wrong direction or button that I pushed, I can see the counter my opponent had ready, I can see that my timing was off. It’s alway frustrating to be blown off the map, but it’s also always fair, which is something that I feel a lot of games miss out on these days.

Pac-Man and Mega Man have joined the fight, and they're both pretty awesome.
Pac-Man and Mega Man have joined the fight, and they’re both pretty awesome.

Smash is also an extremely simple title to grasp the basics of. Simply watching the game’s short tutorial video is enough to get you off the ground (pushing or flicking the analog stick in different directions will all lead to different attacks, etc.), and it’s such an easy to understand title that I can imagine a few young children who would very quickly be able to surpass my ability. On the flipside, the game can be as complicated as you want it to be, and if you plan on playing competitively, prepare for it to get really complicated, really fast. The fact that I can hand a controller to a 100% non-gamer and within a few minutes see them smiling and throwing punches is a pretty powerful thing. In fact, at the end of a long night of local multiplayer, instead of hearing a “well let’s never do that again” I was instead asked “so when are we playing again.” It’s pretty amazing that a single game can do this, and especially a fighting game, which I always found to be the most frustrating and non newbie friendly genre of them all.

Multiplayer is obviously key in a game of this genre, but that doesn’t mean that there’s not a lot to love when you’re playing by yourself. The always fun Classic Mode, where you fight a ton of dudes and then fight a really hard dude (and you can totally scale the difficulty to earn more gold) is still present, as is the timeline-spanning All-Star Mode. Smash Tour is a boardgame-style mode that has you collecting fighters and power-ups (starting a battle with an item in-hand for instance) that starts out convoluted but ends up being pretty fun whether you’re alone or with friends, while the extremely-welcome Events have you completing super-specific and sometimes super-challenging tasks. I’ve nearly thrown my controller more than a few times playing that mode, so maybe you should use a wrist-strap for that one (you should definitely use a wrist-strap for that one). As always, there are tons and tons of collectibles to get your hands on, which should leave completionists beyond busy for quite some time.

Another issue that Nintendo has solved in this iteration is that fact that younger players may not have the slightest idea where some of these characters are from. To help (and to again help with those nostalgic feelings for us older players), Nintendo has built in three-minute demos of a lot of their classic titles. It’ll probably make them a ton of money too, seeing as all of these titles are available on the Wii U eShop (and have handy buy links after the demo times out). It was a very cool experience to be able to jump into the SNES F-Zero when a friend asked “What the heck is Captain Falcon from?”… and then immediately jump back out because that game is impossible.

Masterpieces mode gives you timed-demos of old classics.
Masterpieces mode gives you timed-demos of old classics.

It’s hard to put my finger on what really does it for me here; whether it’s the insane roster of classic and recognizable characters (and Shulk), or that warm nostalgic feeling I get from each and every stage, or maybe it’s that I really like collecting things and there’s seemingly no limit to the collectibles in this game. It could also be the fact that Nintendo has again developed another knockout that I can experience while sitting right beside my friends: they can swear at me in person instead of over a mic, and that’s a major oversight of most games these days. Whatever it is (it’s more than likely a culmination of all of these things and more), I’m absolutely enamoured with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and with the revelation of DLC and the idea that bugs can be patched (sorry advanced tech-ers), as well as its sheer addictiveness, people are going to be in love with this game for a long, long time. Me included.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U scores a smash-tacular 5/5. Go buy it, go buy it right now.

Yesterday, Nintendo unveiled the third wave of Amiibo figures, including Sonic, Mega Man, and about half a dozen Nintendo favorites. One such characters was Shulk, the Monado wielding protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles. If you’re like me, you were really excited for the chance to put this sweet looking figure on your shelf when not importing it into Super Smash Bros.

There’s just one catch. Like the game that he originates from, Shulk’s Amiibo will be exclusive to GameStop, so if you REALLY need him, this is the only official retailer that you’ll be able to pick it up from. It sucks for people who try to avoid the store like the plague, but I guess we should be happy that we’re getting him at all. Either way, I think we can all agree that retailer exclusive content is a raw deal.

Aside from Smash, will Shulk have any functionality in the upcoming Xenoblade New 3DS port? Will placing his figure on the Wii U Game Pad add him to your Xenoblade Chronicles X party, while he runs around telling you his various levels of feeling it? We can only hope.

The third wave of Amiibos are set for a February release.

Briefly: The second iteration of Super Smash Bros. this year is finally almost here! We’ve all been absolutely destroying our fingers and joysticks in locations we’d never even dreamed of for well over a month at this point. In just a couple of weeks, it’ll be time to bring the fight home (and add four more players and a ton of new modes) and give those sore fingers a rest… Or, you know, make them even more sore on a different controller.

Today, the opening cinematic for the Wii U edition of the game has made its way online, and it’s going to make the next couple of weeks of waiting very, very hard (for you guys, my copy should arrive later today). The video shows some choice footage from all of the game’s many characters, and at its core is simply a fun and exciting watch.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go get a few matches in to calm myself down. Take a look at the cinematic below, and let us know how many copies of this one you’ll be picking up!
