Briefly: Following the bad-ass red-band trailer from last week, Fox has just debuted a new featurette for next year’s Kingsman: The Secret Service.

The video features plenty of insight from Kingsman (and Kick-Ass) director Matthew Vaughan, as well as interviews with Taron Egerton’s ‘Eggsy’ and a few others. The featurette also features some new clips, and is more than worth the watch for those looking forward to the film!

The performances look fantastic, the action is insane, and February totally can’t come soon enough. Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know what you think! Kingman: The Secret Service stars Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton and Samuel L. Jackson, and hits theatres on February 13th, 2015.

Briefly: I was really, really excited to check out Kingsman: The Secret Service this past October… but then the damned thing was delayed.

In any case, everything that we’ve seen from the film so far has been nothing but bad-ass, and all of us here at Geekscape cannot wait to see more of this Dave Gibbons/Mark Millar adaptation.

Briefly: We’d almost be lining up for Kingsman: The Secret Service right about now, had it not been for that unfortunate delay to February of last year.

Instead of seeing the feature, it looks like we’ll have to settle for this awesome new trailer, in which Colin Firth kicks some serious ass.

Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, X-Men First Class), Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

We got our first sneak peak at WonderCon last month and now we have an even bigger look. Today, Yahoo Movies! has released the first trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’, based on the comic book series by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons (which is definitely worth seeking out if you haven’t already)!

The film stars Colin Firth as a British secret service agent and newcomer Taron Egerton as his fresh-faced recruit. No telling from the trailer if they’re going to keep the estranged uncle/nephew storyline from the comics that was a big part of the comic (but let’s hope so).  They’re up against Samuel L. Jackson’s villain and Michael Caine also appears. It’s set in Britain and is an action movie… so of course Michael Caine’s gotta be in there!

We’ve been looking forward to this one since it was announced and can’t wait for its release in October. Take a look at the trailer:

One of the awesome benefits of attending a convention is getting a sneak peak/extended look at upcoming projects. One such project that was announced at WonderCon was The Secret Service starring Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson (as the bad guy!). A nearly finished (rough cut) fight scene was screened along with a short trailer. The scene consisted of Firth talking to a young man in a bar when they are rudely interrupted by a group of troublemakers. Firth gets up but instead of leaving he takes on the entire gang by himself! It was AWESOME! Academy Awarding winning Firth is not known for action films so this scene was a big surprise.

The Secret Service is based on Mark Miller’s (writer of Kick-Ass) comic book of the same name. The film will be directed by Matthew Vaughn who directed Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class. I would say the film is in some good hands. Firth is a veteran agent who brings in a young man, in whom he sees great potential.

The style of fighting does have that over-the-top Kick-Ass vibe. Parts were in slow motion which gave you a cool perspective and contributed to the comic book style. Did I mention Firth also fought the gang using an umbrella? Yep. This reminded me of the film Gothic & Lolita Psycho (2010) where the female protagonist uses an umbrella as a weapon as well (though I doubt many people saw this film). The film also reminded me of The Avengers; no, not that one. I am referring to the 1960s TV show and 1998 film.

All that being said, I was blown away by the footage. I had heard nothing about the film before WonderCon and now I am excited to see it! Unfortunately, a trailer has not been released yet, but be on the look out. The film is scheduled to be released in late October this year.

Casting is currently underway on Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming adaptation of Mark Millar’s The Secret Service and with production set to begin in August it appears that the film has already landed it’s lead. Sources have revealed that Oscar winning actor Colin Firth has signed on to play the role of Uncle Jack, a James Bond like super-spy who works for MI6 that takes his nephew Gary under his wing in hopes to change his ways and make him a future MI6 agent.

The project has been previously described as “James Bond meets My Fair Lady”, with Firth stating that Vaughn’s movie will be “unlike anything I’ve done.” According to Millar, Mark Hamill has also signed on for the film to play himself in a cameo appearance. But if you haven’t read the comic we won’t spoil that scene for you here.

A short while ago it was revealed that Matthew Vaughn had decided to step down as the director for X-Men: Days Of Future Past to work on the big screen adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons The Secret Service. This one was definitely a surprise and left some fans a little disappointed. Now, a rumor is spreading around that the director has left the project was to work on Star Wars: Episode VII. So, what is the real reason Vaughn stepped down? In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Mark Millar revealed that there was a very good reason for the decision.

“We thought Matthew was going to do X-Men first, but we found out there were actually a few imitators of ‘Secret Service’ in the works. People think you’re lying when you say you’re not trying to get your comics made into movies so quickly, but the two reasons it happens like that is first because it’s the best ad for the comic you’ll ever have. And for me, selling the book is the most important thing. The second reason is because people are always trying to rip you off. Somebody will start to work on a spec screenplay about your idea. There are three other projects I know of now about a James Bond kind of guy taking a street kid and turning him into a spy. Three screenplays were already going through Hollywood about this! So Matthew and I said, ‘[frick] this. We’re not letting anyone steal our ideas.'”

With the big screen adaptation of Mark Millar’s The Secret Service moving forward some have wondered if Mark Hamill, who agreed to allow Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons use his likeness in the comic book series, would appear in the film.

The first issue of the comic features the actor being kidnapped and…well, let’s not give away any spoilers here. Earlier today Mark Millar confirmed that before Hamill might go into Jedi hiding, we will indeed see the actor in the big screen adaptation!

Expect more news to come from this project very soon.
