An interesting static website has popped up on the Adult Swim page. An image of the Red team from Team Fortress 2 sits below somewhat vague text.

COMING NEXT WEEK

ADULT SWIM & VALVE

ARE TEAMING UP FOR SOMETHING THAT YOU’LL PROBABLY ENJOY. TO LEARN HOW THEIR VIDEO GAME PEANUT BUTTER WILL BE GETTING IN OUR NETWORK’S CHOCOLATE, COME BACK NEXT WEEK.

ALSO: YOU’LL WANT TO SIGN UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED.

Color me intrigued. With a series of Team Fortress 2 “animation cell” mock-ups floating  around 4chan for a while now, what could Adult Swim be up too?

Back in May we talked about the possibility of Scott Waugh being the director for the Need for Speed movie.

Well it has been confirmed. On the official Facebook Page, it was announced that they have tied down a contract with Dreamworks and are going to start working on a Need for Speed movie right away.

This begs the question: What do players of racing games want to see in a movie? You have the arcade lovers of the NfS:Underground games, they might be more inclined to enjoy a fast paced Fast and Furious type of movie. Then you have the simulation gamers, those who play Forza 4, they may want a movie with classic streamlined chases like in Bullitt or Ronin.

Regardless, it will interesting to see what comes out of Dreamworks and Need for Speed.

Mojang, the little developer who brought us the JUGGERNAUT Minecraft, has released a gameplay trailer for their next game Scrolls along with an official website.

We finally have some solid footage and info to make our decisions on. The press release on the site gives more info on their Alpha test.

We are rapidly approaching the closed alpha of Scrolls. Although this alpha version will be far from a feature complete version of the game, it will include multiplayer matches, single player matches vs AI and the Deck Builder, where you can build your decks out of the 100+ scrolls that currently exist in the game.

As we get closer to a stable build, we will stop the closed alpha, and move to an open beta, where you will be able to buy the game at a reduced price and with some added benefits (more about that later).

At that point, we will also look to include the single player world, where you can explore and do battle to earn new scrolls to your collection.

Keep in mind, that the beta will not be feature complete. We will still have a big bag of goodies that we plan to include over time, such as an auction house where you may buy or sell scrolls from each other and additional features in the world such as character customization, items, quests and so on. If you’re wondering why we would release a game that’s obviously not finished, the reason is simple: We want your feedback in good time to help us shape Scrolls to be the next big online Collectible Card Game!

So if you’re curious enough to pick up a copy of the game, please don’t be shy. Hit the forums and help us out!

Check out more on the game on their official site HERE. Be careful though, you might get this and Skyrim confused.

Video game legend, Hironobu Sakaguchi is announcing his next game to be released from his Mistwalker studios. PARTY WAVE, on iOS devices!

The game features two modes. A “paddling” mode and a “Party Wave” mode. The first one puts players in a top down view where they control their surfer past obstacles in order to get to the perfect spot to catch the wave.

Anyone who remembers T&C Surf Design on the NES should automatically be stoked, especially with the Party Wave portion of gameplay.

Party Wave is slated to be released on the Apple App Store sometime Mid July

A couple of days ago, over on the GOG forums, a user was doing his impression of Horatio Caine and dug up some interesting information.

Turns out Square Enix, just days prior, purchased the domain www.finalfantasyviipc.com. Currently it just forwards to the main Square page, but our detective over at GOG did some more digging. When he looked at the public cache for the site, he found this image. Click to enlarge.

This appears to be a PR release for the game, but with all the formatting removed due to google caching.

The price listed on the image is £7.99/€9.99. Roughly $13 USD. No official word yet from square.

Personally I am very excited if this turns out to be legit. Lets hope they sprung for HD graphics.

Check out their public who is record here.

Late last night the fine folks over at Sony announced that they are going to be releasing an HD version of the hit adventure game Okami, exclusively for the PS3.

Players can expect full HD 16:9 graphics and will be able to use both the regular Playstation controller OR the PS Move controller.

The game is slated to be released this fall.

You thought it was over? It can’t be over! Doom 3 was just the warm up fight! Return to Doom 3 October 16th!

Bethesda is releasing a re-tuned and refined edition of Doom 3. Notable improvements include: The Resurrection of Evil DLC, Seven new levels titled “The Lost Missions”, Tighter controls, New checkpoint system that allows for more fluid gameplay, enhanced graphics and visuals optimized for 3D on PS3 and XBOX.

The most important addition. The one that I think all fans of Doom and Doom 3 will LOVE.

ARMOR MOUNTED FLASHLIGHT!

Now you can light the darkness and shoot AT THE SAME TIME! If you are a player of the original Doom 3 then you should be jumping for joy right now. The most downloaded mod for the first released Doom was the Duct Tape Mod that let you use the flashlight and the gun at the same time.

Doom 3 BFG also includes Doom 1 and Doom 2. It hits store shelves October 16th.

With four years of development making sure “It is just right”, we now have a short teaser trailer for Thief 4.

Personally I don’t know how to react. The Thief series is just one of those series. A legendary game with pedigree. This trailer doesn’t say much, but I doubt it is in game footage. There has been no confirmed release date.

In the middle of the night, a 56 page report apparently coming from Microsoft and written in 2010, was leaked onto the internet. It details their next console dubbed the Xbox 720, in pretty good detail. The time of writing this the document has been removed from the server. Lets take a look at what was inside.

The most intriguing part of the release was that the 720 will feature a Blu Ray disk drive and full 1080P output, with a “Low Powered Always On Mode” it also will have the ability to act as a DVR. If a Blu Ray is in fact standard issue, then we can definitely expect some BIG sized games.  Lets take a look at the raw specs from the document.

The compelling info lies with the backwards compatibility. With three PowerPC cores at 3.4Ghz used to mimic the 360 architecture. This lets all previous games play natively without emulation.

The 720 doesn’t seem to be skimping on power. With up to 8 ARM CPU cores set at 2Ghz, we can expect powerful content of all kinds. It is kind of required for constant 1080P output though.

The big peripherals that are included in this report are what make me believe this report to legitimate. The console will come with Kinect V2 bundled. It has the ability to track 4 players and new “Kinect Props”. Kinect Props are just that, props you use when playing with the kinect. If we look at one of the illustrations, we can clearly see someone using a baseball bat with their Kinect.

That has disaster written all over it. When the WiiMote was flying off wrists and busting TVs, it was called a terror to living rooms. Add 1:1 scale BATS or GOLF CLUBS or whatever to the equation and you have a recipe for destroyed TVs.

Then we have these Kinect Glasses called Project Fortaleza. That sounds like a type of Ferrari. These are Microsoft’s answer to Google Glasses. These will offer 3D viewing of games or movies. The report mentions 4G, so they could be used outside the 720 system.

Top that all off with a Holiday 2013 release at $299, you can expect that the Xbox 720 to be the first foray into the next generation of game consoles.

Check out the entire document here.

The numbers from the “pay what you want”/”donation drive”, Humble Indie Bundle V, were announced today. Previous records of just over $2.1 Million have been SHATTERED.

With 598,977 individual bundles purchased, the organization raised $5,106,739.08, which goes to support Childs Play and The Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Let’s take a look at a breakdown of the numbers.

There was somewhat of a “donation war” going on between Minecraft creator Notch and a group called The Humble Brony Bundle. The Humble Bronies are a group of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic fans who bundled their collective funds and bought copies of the HIB5 in the name of friendship.

This years bundle included, DRM-Free: Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Bastion, Limbo, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Psychonauts, Lone Survivor, Super Meat Boy, and Braid. If you paid more than the average purchase, you got them all PLUS their soundtracks!

So it is apparent gamers can do something other than talk about banging each others moms.

In the hustle and bustle of E3, sometimes great gems get lost in the fray. Case in point, EA and MAXIS released a new trailer for their upcoming SimCity sequel, titled SimCity. Check it out below.

Color me two shades excited and a slight gradient of worried. It says SimCity which makes me believe this is some kind of “REBOOT” for the series. The trailer gives me a real big SOCIETIES vibe, which is their dumber version of SimCity. I can’t say for sure.

The new GlassBox engine makes it look fabulous. If they retain the great bits from SimCity 3000 and SimCity4. Then this new iteration will be great!

Yesterday online retailer Amazon had the Nintendo WiiU for sale as a preorder for 199 GBP (roughly $300). Today it has taken down the listing and canceled all orders.

An email sent out to customers was posted on the NeoGaf forums.

We’re writing to you regarding your order for the Nintendo Wii U console. Your order has been cancelled as this product was listed on Amazon.co.uk in error. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

“You will not be charged for your order.

“If you’re interested in ordering the Nintendo Wii U console when it becomes available, you can sign up to receive an email here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004Y59P3A

“We hope to see you again soon.

“Warmest regards,

“Customer Service Department.”

Now this begs the question, what kind of error was this? Was it the “Shit, we put it up for too cheap” error or was it “Shit, we put it up for sale way to soon”. Let the Amazon deal speculation being.

Today the chaps over at Ubisoft released a seven minute walkthrough of one of the missions in Assassin’s Creed 3. This particular one shows off the new combat system, tree navigation and player weapons. Check it out below.

The feature length film that took two years to make that covers the independent video game industry gets its grand debut TODAY!

This also marks the very first time a full length movie is available through Valves Steam network, which I believe to be a very important event. Fully DRM movies about gamers, on a game network. It’s like the gamers version of FUBU.

I was on the fence myself about this movie, but knowing it’s DRM free and available on Steam, I am definitively picking it up.

Grab the movie on : iTunes , Steam or The Official Site. For more details about the production check out their release day post

And for a good laugh, the Mega64 boyz did a re-cut of the trailer for Indie Game: The Movie.

Today we got a sneak peak of Karl Urban as Judge Dredd on the new poster for the upcoming reboot film of the same name. Check it out below. Make sure to click it to see it blown  up.

Yeah, Karl Urban is in there. Somewhere.

Judge Dredd is set to be released September 21st. It is directed by Pete Travis of Vantage Point fame.

If you couldn’t already tell, we are very excited for Star Wars 1313. The E3 hype machine keeps running. Gander your eye holes at Star Wars 1313 in full moving pictures!

Now I was already sold on this game when I heard the premise, saw the pics and read the preview. Seeing it MOVE is like…it’s like sex. The seamless trailers-to-gameplay part made my whole body tingle. I publicly swore off Star Wars after the fucking dance fiasco, but 1313 may have revived my Star Wars love.

Today at E3 Dice released some new info on the BF3 Armored Kill that releases this Fall.

They released a Q&A video centered around a new map called Bandar Desert. The new vehicles in the expansion such as the ATV (Bad Company 2 fans rejoice!), Strikers and Mobile Artillery.

I think the coolest “vehicle” in this expansion is the AC-130 gunship. It cannot be flown by players, it spawns when your team controls a specific command point on the map. It travels on its own path. It has four spots that players can take over, two anti-ground and two anti-air. It also acts a mobile spawn point that players can HALO jump out of.

Check out the full Q&A video below.

Today. Today is the day we got the call. To return to our computer rooms. Adjust the lumbar in the chair. Turn the lights down and the blue LEDs up. August 21st is the day  the next game in the LEGENDARY Counter-Strike series ships.

The E3 news machine is running on all cylinders. Valve announced that CS:GO will be released August 21st for $15 on STEAM, PSN and XBLA. Forget Mass Effect 3. Forget Assassins Creed 3. Forget Diablo 3. CS:GO is the only number 3 you will ever need.

Make sure to check out the CS:GO Steam page for more info.

A couple of guys, who were up to a lot of good at MIT, have created a device that lets you turn anything you can imagine into a usable interface on a PC. Check out their promo below and be amazed.

I bet you had the same thought process I did. “Thats cool….whoa, thats cool too! WHOA FUCKING PENCIL DRAWING??? BUCKETS OF WATER???? BANANAS!!! WHOAAAAAAA!”

You can check out Makey Makey and their Kickstarter for more info.

The Pre-E3 hype machine is running on all cylinders as Lucasarts sent out this teaser image of their new, mature themed Star Wars game: Star Wars 1313

The game takes place on level 1313. A criminal haven deep underground on Coruscant. You take control of a new bounty hunter as you hunt down your contracts and are trying to  figure out a huge criminal conspiracy.

The emphasis in this Star Wars game is on gadgets, weapons and tactics and not force powers. Think Dark Forces or Shadow of The Empire.

“We’re excited to share one of the projects LucasArts has been hard at work developing,” said Paul Meegan, President, LucasArts.  “Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we’ve always known existed, but never had a chance to visit. We are committed to bringing the best gameplay experience and visual fidelity to life and I truly believe the work we are showcasing at E3 will speak for itself.”

Be sure to check out the  Starwars 1313 official site for more details, and keep and eye out for it at E3.

It’s no secret that Geekscape loves the post apocalyptic dancing movie, The FP.

Well the film got an iOS game.

Not much else. It is a DDR clone for your touch iDevices. It has funny movie tie ins and references. So if you are a fan, go download.

The Blu-Ray and DVD ships June 19th, as well as digital download versions. To preorder a copy, hit up Drafthouse Films

Today It was announced, from the MYSTERIOUS conference in Warsaw what CD Projekt RED is up to. Their next game will be an RPG that uses the Cyberpunk interface system.

The studio says this game, set in a neo-future world, will be for the mature player who expects to be treated seriously. That has a touch of “Lost In Translation” but I believe the meaning holds true; Gamers don’t want another Mass Effect 3 to happen.  Said to be non linear and very open world with a over arching story, this new game, if anything like the Witcher series, should be amazing.

Now about this Cyberpunk interface you ask? What does this mean for players? Let me break it down.

The game Cyberpunk is a pen and paper role playing game set in a “neo-future world”. The author, Mike Pondsmith, was brought on board by CD Projekt RED to incorporate his game mechanic, the Interlock System.  Interlock  features character development through skills instead of stat development.

Now I’ve never played Cyberpunk before, but Mike Pondsmith was responsible for the character leveling system for The Matrix Online, which featured development through skills instead of stats. I feel that his system is perfect for the setting this game will be in.

Not to long ago we wrote about the announcement of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing. Today we have a trailer! Check it out below.

I was a little worried after looking at the concept art. The Helsing character looked WAY to much like a Yusuke Naora tribute. Now that I see the character in motion, matched with the cool gear and environment I am even more excited than I was before!

This photo was snapped today of musician now actor Andrew 3000 (André Lauren Benjamin) in the role of guitar LEGEND Jimi Hendrix, on the set of the biopic “All Is By My Side”

Not much is out there on the film. It takes place in 1966 right as Hendrix moved back to London, before his fame. According to reports the film has been in production for quite some time now and they do not know if the Hendrix estate will allow the film to use any of his music! If you ask me, and you just did, there is no point in making a Jimi Hendrix biopic if you cannot secure any of his original tunes!

All Is By My Side is directed by John Ridley

Warlock is best described as a game with an identity crisis. I feel as if the developers wanted to please so many different crowds. There are parts from Civilization, Battle for Middle Earth, Magicka and Warcraft all peppered throughout the game.

Now don’t take my opening paragraph as a letter to say I hate this game, on the contrary. I loathe it. The only thing this game has going for it it’s install size and the graphics. There are so many little things gone wrong that just make me feel sad. I was really looking forward to a Fantasy style Civ game.  Let’s start at the beginning, with the menu.

I fired up my copy and started a game, and because of a misrepresented arrow I ended up choosing the default character by accident. A white wizard whos name was something along the lines of ‘ MOBIAS THE HAT ‘. I remember the hat part fondly.

That brings us to the beginning tutorial, or as I like to call it, ‘Bad Sean Connery Impersonator Theater’. It was funny at first but then it became very obvious they were trying for a bad Sean Connery narrator. The tutorial is a complete joke. It seemed as if it was only putting up new prompts at random. Best example, I built some warriors and moved them out and killed a few groups of skeleton swordsmen.  Then a group of rogues came into my field of view and suddenly it was time to get the combat tutorial! I literally won three battles but that was all bullshit what I was doing before, I knew DICK about combat according to Shawn Conory.

The diplomacy mechanics are there and I feel like if they spent just a tad more time working on it they would be manageable. At one point during the my time playing, another army requested I do a trade with them. They demanded I give them 0 Mana. Thats right 0 as in Zero as in none. Of course me being the dictator enemy to all I said no and chose the “WAR” option. Then the next turn the same guy had the same demand, 0 Mana. Again I said no. This went on for six turns. Fed up I just gave into his demands and gave him the 0 Man, hoping it would stop. It didn’t. I had to declare war on him to shut his face up.

While we’re on the subject resources lets talk about the gold system. After a round of building structures and units I found myself at -31 gold. I thought that the game offered a debt system, but no. They just didn’t program a stop in. I was able to spend that -31 gold and offered it in diplomacy with another army, they became my ally and were fond of the -31 gold, which left me at -62 gold for some odd reason. This game has no concept of numbers.

The interface is a fuck bag. If a unit of yours is sharing a hex of a structure, there is a 50% of selecting the unit or the structure. There is no way to accurately click around between units. Building new structures is weird one. You can build something, after the required turns are up it becomes usable, but if you click on its icon after it is built, it puffs out some smoke and becomes unusable for a few rounds which seem to be random. I don’t know if this upgrading the building or just firing all the workers, the stats of the building DO NOT CHANGE.  At one point I was unable to build in my town because of “Low Population”. I couldn’t figure out what the fuck this arbitrary variable means.  I moved all the units I could into the town, still “Low Population”. I tried EVERYTHING, but I guess this was just another bullshit thing the game decided on its own without informing the player. A few random turns later, the “Low Population” message went away.

The emotions Warlock tries to evoke also seem to be completely random. The skeleton archers make this wacky bugs bunny metal spring sound when they shoot their bows, but when those arrows kill some female rogues, their blood curdling screams of pain and sorrow make me feel slightly uncomfortable.

So what should you take away from this? At $20 dollars and under 2 gigs this game is horrendously over priced. If someone said this was a mod for Civ 3, I would say “Hey, that one guy who built it did an ok job for his first go around.” I did not enjoy this game

Dreamworks has offered war propaganda “Act of Valor” director Scott Waugh to direct the film adaptation of the hit racing series Need For Speed.

Now Dreamworks keeps insisting that nothing is solid and these are only “discussions”, I am lead to believe they are further along than they want us to think. With George Gatins already said to have written a script.

I am kind of intrigued as to what will come of this franchise on film. NFS has always been a great series of games introducing some great music and different racing themes in all of their releases. With Need For Speed Most Wanted and Undercover introducing strong narrative elements to their games, I can see this series come to film easily.

The demo for the 3DS version of Rayman Origins hits the Nintendo eShop TODAY!

Check out the trailer below.

Hampton Fancher, author of the original Blade Runner script based off of Phillip K. Dicks short story, Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?, is in talks to return to write the sequel.

It was said that it will infact be a sequel and take place some years after the first. Ridley Scott has said this was intended to be a series of films.

Now before you go all “THIS MOVIE DOESN’T NEED A SEQUEL!” I would like to direct you to the three official “authorized by Phillips K Dicks Estate” sequel novels.

Blade Runner 2: Edge of Human

Blade Runner 3: Replicant Night

Blade Runner 4: Eye and Talon

Today The Walking Dead Escape website went live giving us geeks an idea of what the AMC hit has in store for SDCC this year.

The show will be renting out the Padre Stadium in downtown San Diego and will be turning areas of the park into a zombie obstacle course. Attendees will be able to choose from three different roles. A survivor running from zombies. A zombie chasing survivors or Spectator. Me being in the peak psychical condition I am, I wouldn’t want to give the other people a unfair game so I will be watching from the side.

So for $70 bucks more on top of the already expensive ass Comic Con adventure you can get all sweaty OUTSIDE of the convention center.

Check out the official site for more details.

Today Ubisoft announced that they have made a deal with Marvel to create an Avengers game titled “Battle for Earth”. Insert Will Smith-Independence day quote here.

At first I was elated, thinking it was that unfinished FPS we all saw last year finally coming to fruition, but no information other than it’ll be out this fall and will be on the Kinect and Wii U systems was given.

Let’s hope that it’s not just another video game movie churned out due to a films popularity and it actually has some playability  like the last few avengers games.

We will be sure to let you know more info as it comes out, but in the mean time take a gander at the leaked footage from the Avengers FPS and wish that this game and that game are the same.
