The guys over at Kotaku have let loose the rumor dogs of war, saying that Gamestop will be selling Valve game passes in their brick and mortar stores.

The rumor is that after Gamestop buying the online distribution service, Impulse, and that not fairing them to well. They have joined up with Valve and will start selling what every underaged PC gamer has wanted for years. A Steam Gift Card service. No official word yet, but the rumor says May 15th they should start selling the cards.

What do you think? I am very happy to have this option available.

Today it was announced that indie game developer NeoCore Games will be releasing an action RPG based on the characters from Bram Stokers Dracula novel.

The game is said to be set in a Gothic Noir 19th Century Europe with Monsters, Magic and Technology, which I can assume would be a very stylized steampunk kind of world, which sounds pretty damn cool.

Set to hit the Xbox Live Arcade sometime this Q4, I am excited to see what this studio can do with this IP.

Check out some concept art below.

In other sequel news, Universal have announced that they are in talks to create a “Kick Ass 2”, probably based in large part to the just finished sequel mini-series of the same name.

Most likely in an attempt to ride the press tsunami that is Avengers, discussions to start production on Kick Ass 2 in August were said to have started. Kick Ass 1 director Matt Vaughn is unavailable to direct this go around due to commitments to X-Men: First Class 2, so the studio has asked script author Jeff Wadlow to give it a spin. Hopefully there will not be any fucking jetpacks… leave those to The Rocketeer.

The deal is rumored to be pretty close to being wrapped up.

This news begs the question “why all the 2’s”? Do you think that the comic-movie genre needs more sequels to expand their universe or do you feel that more first run stories need to be fleshed out in film. Will we ever see Spider-<an or Wolverine sharing the screen with Iron Man? Probably not. Can’t we work on making these happen instead of sequels to movies we didn’t want to see the first time (as the box office proved)?

In what can be referred to as the most obvious move in film history, Disney today has announced that they have secured a sequel to the EXPLOSIVELY successful Avengers movie.

With $654 MILLION in opening weekend box office sales worldwide, it is no surprise that Disney wants to get the ball rolling on a sequel in order to ride the good press.

Disney CEO Bob Iger was quoted saying “There is a strong demand for Avengers merchandsie.” No fucking duh Bob.

The Portal 2 Perpetual Testing Environment goes live today. This marks a pretty monumental shift for the series. Allowing users to create their own puzzles, upload them to Steam and allow players to download, play and rate the puzzles.

I’ll admit. When I first heard the announcement that Minecraft was moving to the Xbox 360 I wasn’t that impressed. I figured it would be very limited. After playing with it for a week, my impressions have changed.

Every gamer nowadays knows what Minecraft is all about, but if you aren’t in the know I’ll give you a quick overview. Minecraft is a survival game in a world that is made of bricks. You can cut trees to get wood, make tools and mine minerals to make better tools and the circle continues. It doesn’t SOUND that compelling, but its addictiveness is on the same level as crack. The ability to make tools and housing items is very intuitive and the creative level has no limit. I’ve had extensive time playing and managing my own PC server of this game, so my curiosity to see how well this version stacks up was very…curious.

The Xbox version is not any different. The biggest change is instead of having to guess at the crafting recipe of whatever you want to create, you can pick from a list of items and if you have the materials then it will allow you to make the item. This made the exploration of new tools and furniture very intuitive. Best example is while scrolling through the different lighting methods, me and my buddy learned we could make torches with CHARCOAL (which can be made by burning wood) as well as COAL (which is found in ore form inside mines). That changes the start of the survival aspect of the game drastically, even though we learned this fact three nights too late.

The best selling point for me in this version was the ability to have splitscreen multiplayer, when I read about this I had flashbacks to Goldeneye matches from my youth. So I grabbed my Xbox and headed over to my buddy Dylan’s house to start the adventure.

We started our first world and the first appeal was to see what our character models were. (WARNING: My screen capture device was not working, so the only few screen shots I got came from my cellphone, please bear with me)

I was the default skin, Minecraft Steve, but Dylan (Station1337) appeared to be some fancy tennis instructor. We dubbed him “Tanner”.

Being the Minecraft veterans we are, we knew that the first thing to do was find some Coal and create torches to keep the monsters at bay during the first night. That didn’t go so well. We dug out two fairly large hills looking for Coal…we found absolutely none. The first night was spent dug into 1X2 sized holes in pure darkness, with the sounds of monsters just outside. We weren’t even in the same hole! It was a lonely hole the first night.  As soon as the sun rose, we went  on the Coal hunt again…with zero yield. Again, we slept in our shallow graves while Zombies and Skeleton Archers clawed at the dirt trying to kill us.  As the sun came up, which would ultimately burn our enemies into dust and give us a relatively safe gathering area, it began to rain. Blotting out the sun. The absurdity of how dire and depressing our situation was palpable.

We proceeded to delete this world and create another one. That one didn’t turn out so well, the resources weren’t very abundant either. So third times a charm, and this created world ended up being the one we played for over 12 hours.

Upon spawn, in a giant rain forest, we found some pumpkins and a decent mountain on the water for us to carve out and begin our underground journey.

Now we really started to get into the meat of the game. Creating a wheat farm underground for baking bread. Creating a bedroom so we could move our respawn location.  Creating the first of many strip mines in order to get some raw materials so we could create weapons and gear in order to survive the ultimate test, venturing into the Nether Realm.

We soon realized the game was way too dark right off the bat. Upping the gamma and the brightness on the TV did the trick. We also felt that the torches in this version had a slightly less powerful radius. We believe that this weaker light radius allowed some monsters to spawn on the outside walls of our bedroom which let them spawn MORE monsters near them which ended up in our bedroom, whom quickly attacked us. It took a few tries to get a full sleep cycle in (which would move our respawn location indoors), this may or may not be just a glitch for our world. I was unable to recreate this situation so I do not feel the monsters-through-the-wall-spawn to be something the every player should expect.

Once that issue was sorted, Steve and Tanner were able to have some alone time…

About four hours later we had a sizable mine dug out and we started stock piling materials to gear up for our trip into hell. Our next session playing we brought two more players with us, our friends Josh and Dan, with us. Josh being another veteran Minecraft player and Dan who was fairly n00b at it. Their character models were just as interesting as the tennis instructor. Josh was a man in a tux with a nice flower on his lapel and Dan was a black man in a wife beater with a large gold chain with a blingy medallion on it. Our new group of miners started on the goal of adventuring into the Nether Realm to get a few rare and valuable minerals. It was nice to see how quickly Dan picked up the Xbox 360 version. The included crafting guide made his first few hours in the game to be smooth. With little instruction he crafted a few tools and wandered into a natural cave and preceded to get murdered by a Skeleton.

The four of us started prepping for the hell trip. Dylan created the most efficient strip mine possible, alternating 1X2 tunnels which yielded copious amounts of diamond and iron ore. Josh created a large tree and wheat farm so that we could harvest raw wood and bake bread to heal our characters. Me and Dan started exploring the natural cave we stumbled upon in search of interesting times.

I feel that this was the best feature of this version. Being able to sit on a couch with your friends, share a few drinks and share mine ideas was ideal. It removed the slight level of loneliness we all felt while playing the PC version. Yeah, we always played on Skype together but being in the same room brought back memories of Halo 2 LAN parties from high school. The robust features from the PC version were still around. We all had our own missions but were able to work as a team together. Josh was farming wood so that Dylan could build check point throughout our mine. Hours flew buy while we gathered minerals to arm our characters for the adventure into the inferno, armor and weapons to take on the monsters while we gathered the valuable materials.

During this prep time I took the opportunity to get in a boat and sail about exploring the various islands. This is when I ran into the biggest disappointment of the game. The size of the playable area is very limited in comparison to the PC version. The starting map you get, that is as big as it gets. I literally hit an invisible wall. This small play area made us realize there are only so many mineral blocks available. On the PC version when your mine was almost completely dry, you could pack up some gear and walk a few miles and start a new camp gathering minerals. The upside to this limited area was the high amount of natural cave formations. These are usually filled with monsters and veins of the high value minerals. Me and Dan explored a few and filled up our inventory with Iron Ore to arm ourselves.

Hours continued to tick by, which seemed like minutes. The pizza I had heated up with the intention to eat HOT was ice cold by the time I got to it. The addictive nature of the game wasn’t impeded by the limited size. When 2 A.M rolled around we knew it was time to armor up. We forged iron weapons and armor and started the Nether Portal which would bring us to Hell.

We stood around the portal, and jumped in one at a time. As soon as the group was on the other side we made a makeshift base. Carving out a hole and putting up some doors. The doors would keep the Zombie Pig Men but not the giant fireball spitting Ghasts. A good 45 minutes was spent venturing in the hellish Nether Realm. Killing pig men, hiding from Ghasts and getting lightstones to create powerful lighting back at the main mine. Afterwards we jumped back and decided it was time to be moderately responsible adults  and stop playing Minecraft at 3 A.M.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Nursing our sore tired eyes over a quick smoke we four discussed our experience. We all agreed that the controls for the console were very well done. Everything was labeled properly and the “Quick Move” option in menus made moving large amounts of items around very easy. The lack of cheats, which forced us all to actually play the role properly, made all of our achievements much more rewarding. There was a slight chugging felt when all four players were moving at once, but it did not affect game play that much. Everyone in the group enjoyed the splitscreen mode. Being able to sit around the TV and hangout in person made the mining and crafting fun. It was like playing LEGOS after school with your best friend, but with booze! Dylan felt the size restriction was a big mark AGAINST the Xbox 360 version, he wasn’t able to make a judgement call on how it would affect the end game. Even with a large LCD TV with and HDMI cable, we had to move the couches closer to the screen. The small “pixel text”  was soon illegible  on our individual quarter screens. I didn’t feel the eyestrain on the single player mode. When asked if he would buy it, Dylan said ” I thought I kicked this Minecraft addiction, but it looks like I will be buying the Xbox version”.

We all had reservations, most of them were dissolved quickly in and we were quickly absorbed in the tunnels we were digging. If they are able to keep updates consistent. Possibly offer mod support or content expansion packs, then I feel this version will offer the same Minecraft experience but tuned perfectly on the Xbox 360. If you haven’t already bought Minecraft and the idea of computer gaming and modding scares you do not even hesitate. Buy this version, just don’t let any pigs in.

Another story of companies messing with developers. Like our last story on the topic, it looks like Lucasarts is just as guilty as Ubisoft.

In writeup by EuroGamer, which reads like a scene out of Michael Clayton, Free Radical said the executives at Lucasarts purposely used delaying tactics to keep the studio from meeting certain deadlines, and then used those as grounds to refuse payment.

The devs say new executive at the time, Darrell Rodriguez, had a goal of killing Battlefront 3 without breaking contract.

This kind of business practice is ruining great studios and screwing gamers out of games that they ACTUALLY REALLY WANT TO BUY. We need to start taking a bigger stand when it comes to this bullshit.

Please, take some time and read the whole story, inform yourselves and lets keep this shit from happening.

Today Sony announced that they are releasing a mash up fighting game called Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale.

The game will feature a bunch of your favorite characters from various Playstation titles and it will have them fight in various stages from the Playstation Universe.

Check out the introduction video below

Well this is definitely a SUPER collaboration of characters that lets you SMASH them around like old  BROTHERS. Do you think that Sony entering this MELEE of side scrolling fighting games is a good decisions? Will they survive the BRAWL of the critics?

Also. NINTENDO.

There, I believe I got my subliminal messaging accross.

Yesterday Valve announced their latest in DLC for Portal 2, AND IT’S NOT HATS!

The “Perpetual Testing” DLC, which ships May 8th, gives players a puzzle creation tool so that they can make their own Portal challenges and share them with the community. It is all available in game so you don’t even need to learn a new tool like the Steam Hammer.

Check out the official site for more details.

This appears to be the jolt Portal 2 needs to stay one of the most popular games around.

Holy shit. HOLY SHIT! I was excited for the 2nd expansion pack to Battlefield 3, but after this trailer I am practically climaxing at my desk. Check it out below

This expansion (Close Quarters) focuses on small maps that expand vertically more than outwardly. Think old school Rainbow 6. From this trailer we can see some new weapons. Spot the silenced .44 Mag and win a prize!

All the indoor destruction makes my already beefy video card tremble. I cannot wait to recreate scenes from The Matrix and Hard Boiled with this expansion.

Also here is a list of the new weapons in the game:

AUG Assault Rifle
SCAR Assault Rifle
ACW-R Carbine
MTAR-21 Carbine
M417 Sniper Rifle
JNG-90 Sniper Rifle

Recent news that Black Hole Entertainment is not sustainable in it’s current form and may shut down, came with an interesting story from someone inside the company. They said that Ubisoft made major errors and failed to meet deadlines in this project which cost the Hungarian developer to lose millions of Euros.

The member of Black Hole said that Ubisoft refused to put in penalty clauses in the contract that; if Ubisoft failed to meet any deadlines they would be penalized. This lack of accountability lead to only a portion of Ubisofts deliverable content arriving at Black Hole after 27 months. The entire schedule for the project was set at 24 months.

Couple the lack of the deadline respect, Ubisoft was constantly changing and added things to the project. Removing factions from the game, moving key employees around and all and all messing everything up.

A full writeup from the Black Hole employee is below.

Hi Guys. Several months have passed since the release of Heroes 6, and because there are so many questions from you regarding BH which UBI seemingly ignores, I feel it’s time that I give you some information.

I worked for Black Hole during the whole H6 development. For us, it was a dream project as we were real fans of the Heroes series, having played it since the original King’s Bounty on Commodore 64. And I can tell you it was the UBI producers who didn’t keep their deadlines, and that was what led to a total failure of the whole development. Back in 2008, during the contract negotiation process, UBI business decision makers didn’t want to hear about making it into the contract that in case of any UBI delays there would be any penalty for UBI. This was a stupid decision of a business development boss (she said “UBI would never be late with any deliverables”…. HAHAHA). And that led to an awkward situation where the whole development got snowed up… but the UBI producers kept telling Black Hole that “no worries, guys, there would be more time and budget, just do what we say”. It was then that one faction, Academy had been removed from the content list, as well as many other things. And then, at half of the development, Romain suddenly quit, Erwan was removed from the project – he was “elevated” to the position of Might and Magic Brand Director, which meant his direct involvement in the development was over -, and BH was left there with the blame. Just an example, the final story script – which was UBI responsibility – was delivered to BH after 27 months… while originally there was 24 months for the whole development. No comment.

As for BH commitment, BH used up all its 6 months reserves just to be able to finish the project… this was more than 1 million Euros!!! And they (we) did this knowing it would never be payed back, as royalty would only be paid after 2M Heroes sold at full price. We all knew 2M copies would never be sold (neither at full price nor at reduced price), still we wanted to finish the project. During the last 10 months, our full team worked 24/7, without any chance for compensation… and because of this, we didn’t have any resources to find other projects and make sure BH would survive after the release of Heroes 6. In the meantime, our new UBI producers kept telling that “the BH team is not working during the nights and weekends, and is not committed to the project at all…”. I can only say, just ask any of the BH team members of their commitment…

As for the many bugs: Heroes 6 is a gigantic project, with 1.5-2 million lines in the source code. This is bigger than most RPGs. Such a project can only be finished with good quality if there are several years and a huge budget (i.e. Blizzard games), or if there is a strict design lock date after 7-9 months of the start of development… in case of Heroes, the UBI guys were adding new ideas and were changing existing features during the whole development, even at the last months, so it was simply impossible to make a stable game for release. Just see what they are now doing with patch 1.3 (BH is not involved in that at all btw.). They cannot release a simple patch with a few smaller fixes in time, they are already in a 2-3 weeks delay. This is because the code is extremely complex, and UBI does not have the team to overview it and make it work in time, even if the Limbic guys are really great (and no, they are not involved in the Heroes development from the project start, they joined like 20 months later).

Some examples of what BH added to the game at their own cost, just to make the game better:
– Town screen (we hate the current version, but it is still better then the “let’s make a screen shot from the adventure map 3D town and use it as a town screen” that UBI wanted – we could have made a much better one, but didn’t have money and time).
– Additional ingame cutscenes (I know cutscenes are not great, but again, we received the story after 27 months… we only had a couple months to make the cutscenes from scratch, and a very limited budget – and I think that the overall visual quality of the game proves to anyone that we could have made really great cutscenes if we had had the time and budget).
– 300 unique Combat Maps (there were 20 in the contract)
– 3D animated Main Menu (UBI wanted a simple still image)
– Additional NPCs
– Campaign Overview Map (Campaign Window)
– and many more……..

And what were the UBI decisions:
– Less resources
– No fullscreen town screens
– Only five factions (as a consequence of the continuous delays of UBI deliverables)
– Creature pool
– and many more such “great” changes………

This project cost Black Hole its existence… while UBI is making profit on Heroes 6.

And just some more thoughts: UBI EMEA were working with four 3rd party developers during the Heroes development:
– Capibara – They made the really good (and financially successful) Clash of Heroes. The are not working with UBI anymore.
– Eugene Systems – They made R.U.S.E. They are not working with UBI anymore.
– Black Hole – They made Heroes 6. They are not working with UBI anymore.
– Techland – They made a 47% game for UBI (Call of Juarez: The Cartel – http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/ca…rez-the-cartel) – They are still working with UBI EMEA on a big project.
We heard the UBI guys blame those developers (and Nival) many times… I guess BH was blamed the same way to those developers.

It is always the developer who is responsible…

Just some food for thought…. Thanks guys for reading.

What is the most depressing part of the whole situation is that it keeps happening. We are constantly hearing small genuine studios and developers being shutdown or going bankrupt after dealing with a big titan like Ubisoft or EA.

Microsoft has announced its newest program, the XBLA Arcade NEXT. Microsoft is offering four new games released every Wednesday over the next four weeks starting on April 18th and going to May 9. The first release is Trial Evolution, the hit dirtbike hill climbing game.

To help kick this off they released a trailer to their “XBOX ALLSTARS” event.

Aside from Seananners, these guys all look like a bunch of goobers. I don’t know how well this is going to go off.

Today it was announced that Destination Star Trek London will have all five captains from the various Star Trek series will be together, FOR THE FIRST TIME!  We got Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway (My personally favorite) and Archer(Who I feel got a bad wrap with enterprise. I loved that show).

Not much else to say. The event coordinators said they expected 15,000 attendees but after a cryptic 14,000 preordered their tickets.

For more info on this crazy convention, check out their official website.

Just the other day Bioware and EA announced that they will be offering FREE DLC to owners of Mass Effect 3. This DLC addresses the complaints gamers had with the milquetoast ending. The DLC will include new cinematics for the end that are said to offer more closure and context. What does this decisions mean for gamers and other developers?

CAUTION SPOILERS AHEAD

First off let me just say this. Fuck you (not you, I like your hair), all you privileged spoiled brats. The people that got together and complained to the BBB on Bioware and EA because the story didn’t go the way you wanted. Fuck you guys that ordered $1000 worth of cupcakes and sent them to Bioware, forcing them to pay the COD charge because you felt the choices were “vanilla”. Fuck you guys that voted EA the worst company in America, beating out BofA, a corporation that was a key factor in the US housing crisis. Worst of all fuck you Bioware, get a god damned backbone. This series of events is NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR!

How is going to a story creator and demanding they change their work to suit your taste even remotely ok? You don’t go up to George R. R. Martin and demand he put out a new ending chapter to one of his books because you didn’t like how it ended. Go up to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and ORDER them to put out a new ending verse to Californiacation because you didn’t like how it ended.

This thought process is absurd and shocking to me. We live in the time where the ability to talk to some important people is terribly easy. Your favorite drummer on Twitter? Fucking tweet him. The creators of Mass Effect 3 on Twitter? Tweet them.  So this pseudo friendship or bond is created, and we (well not me, you) get this sense of entitlement. We think “Hey, Larry really made a bad ending to Mass Effect, lemme give him a call and ask him to change it for me”, AND THAT IS NOT OK.

What happened to the days where if you bought a game and it had a shitty ending you dealt with it? Unless it was a PC game that had proper patch releases or expansion packs, you never saw narrative changes in a game. The only time I could EVER think of anything like this happening before is Turok Rage Wars. Acclaim offered a cartridge exchange for one that was fixed, but that was only because the game had a giant non ending bug in it, not because the ending wasn’t fulfilling.

I find the Mega64 guys offer the best explanation on the actions taken by certain gamers.

People keep forgetting the fact that its a FREAKING VIDEO GAME! The people getting upset are demanding this real world sense of accomplishment, something to show around to people saying “MY CHOICES AFFECT A GAME”. It is completely childish and asinine. The reasoning behind the “protesters” is the ending doesn’t give them their sense of closure. They feel like they didn’t change anything. It. Is. A. Video. Game. I am disgusted to be apart of a community that made these choices, that bullied a videogame company into changing their story. Changing their work of art. So let me say it one last time.

YOU THAT DEMANDED THIS CHANGE. YOU ARE ALL ACTING LIKE BABIES AND IT IS EMBARRASSING WHAT HAS COME OF YOUR ACTIONS. IF YOU KEEP THIS SHIT UP THEN WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER LUCAS AND HIS SPECIAL EDITION TRILOGY.

I am a very upset and angry man, so for now I am going to turn it over to my friend and fellow Geekscapist, Steven Kunz. His take on all this Mass Effect 3 business is far more level headed.

I think this Extended Cut DLC is really a combination of a few things. 1) It is my personal belief (And my personal belief alone at the time of writing this editorial) that Bioware simply did not have time to finish the ending as they truly intended, so this DLC is simply going to fill the gaps that Bioware wanted to initially fill but ran of time to do so. 2) I think that all this is going to amount to, in the end, is additional cutscenes in the final battle against Earth that show more variety with the species that you recruited as well as possibly show more results of the war assets. (Ships destroying more reapers for high EMS, reapers dominating Earth for low EMS) as well as show an epilogue of where the species end up after Mass Effect 3, and how your decisions do impact the epilogue. 3) I feel that this does address at least ONE of the fans’ major concerns with the ending, so Bioware is moving in the right direction, especially since the DLC IS free.

However, Bioware is only addressing ONE major concern with the ending whereas the other major concerns still range from the sudden appearance of the Starchild, why Shepard chooses to simply believe what the Starchild says, why Joker was seemingly running away from the final battle, amid other criticisms about the ending. If Bioware chooses to stick to it’s guns and not update or add to the ending further, and I make this statement as an extremely broad assumption, but I have a strong feeling that this could negatively impact future DLC for the game to the point where it no longer becomes profitable to create DLC to further generate revenue, which could also lead to all potential development of extra Mass Effect 3 content to a complete stop and that also means no guaranteed ending changes.

This is all opinion based on what was said from Bioware and EA, and until the DLC is released, we can only judge from what we have, and what we have regarding the ending isn’t much. Hopefully, at least some of the major concerns are addressed in some manner while new ones aren’t added.

And as for my personal thoughtrs on the ending, the ending didn’t fully register until 2 weeks later, mainly because I thought Garrus and Tali died in the last section of the game. When I replayed the ending after seeing they were not dead, I did see the sudden introduction of the Starchild and the limited endings as major dissapointments, but not dealbreakers to me, as I know that this is NOT the end of the Mass Effect series. I do hope that more changes occur to offer more ending variety, and I do hope that additional DLC will be just as fulfilling as most of the series has been, but overall, I’m not holding my breath for any drastic changes. Lastly, despite the last 10 minutes of the game, I would STILL give this a recommendation to play, as well as a recommendation to get into the series, as Mass Effect is still a great franchise in my opinion. The ending of the Shepard Saga of Mass Effect should not deter any gamers from experiencing the universe, nor should it also invalidate the time and memories players have invested in the series.

That’s my take, what about yours? Any opinions on the DLC ending?

Tomorrow’s episode of our favorite show on the HUB that isn’t The Aquabats, My Little Pony, looks like it is going to be a great one for the fans. Pinkie Pie starts up an investigation into the destruction of a cake she was ordered to guard while it was being shipped to Canterlot.

Can I be the first to say, Twilight in a Bowler is FREAKING ADORABLE! This looks like it’s going to be a great one. Like my Dad always says when it comes to cartoon mysteries

The professor did it. It’s always the professor. Even when you think it’s the butler, it’s the professor

The giant of a series, Kingdom Hearts, is coming to the 3DS this July 31st. Players will take up the roles of Sora and Riku, and will be able to switch characters on the fly using the new Drop Gauge System. Square Enix has said this will add a new element of strategy to the game. Check out the trailer below (Turn on Closed Captioning for English Subtitles) and the new character models!

The Russian government has announced that they are developing a weapon, that targets a persons neurological system, and turns them into a zombie.

Putin described the guns like a microwave oven, but directional. The low frequency waves target the brain cells which alter mood, thoughts and perception. You could even transmit suggestions into the target.

Say you have a town, in the middle of Russia that isn’t really all that important. You sneak a few Black Ops in there, they setup in under three minutes and zap the whole town. You tell them to attack other non affected people. Good ol’ fashioned ZOMBIES at that point!

The Russians have been creepily interested in zombies since the 40’s, with their experiments to reanimate the dead.

If you don’t want them to end up like the zombies on the Walking Dead, you can use a speech jammer, which jumbles the brain and confuses it’s ability to talk.

All these brain affecting technologies are very very cool. If the “Zombie Gun” does come to fruition, then you can expect some great Sci Fi/Horror stories to pop up because of this.

These stories do make the official “Ruger Zombie Slayer” pistol much more necessary.

I love Star Wars. I enjoy the prequels. I love the games. I love the universe that has been created around these movies, but today, today is the end for me. I officially HATE Star Wars. The memory of lying to my Mom, telling her I was at my friends house studying so I could go see Episode III in theaters, and getting caught and grounded is useless. After I saw what I am about to show you, the taste of hatred finally overtook the joy I had. Fuck Star Wars.

WHO THE FUCK IS THIS DOUCHEBAG?

I’m a DJ, I understand that its becoming really cool all of a sudden BUT FUCK THIS SO HARD! FUCK IT FUCK IT FUCK IT FUCK!

When I was sent this video I was skeptical. Another Kinect game with shitty controls, bad graphics and horrible gameplay. Then I watched it and was completely blown away. As much as the crazy tinfoil hat wearing person inside of me is saying “DON’T DO IT MAN! THEY CAN SEE YOU MAN”, I think this is going to be the reason I get a Kinect.

Set in an alternate history universe where computers do not exist, Steel Battallion: HA ships today on the Xbox 360. A Kinect is required for play, and I feel the missions may get a tad bit repetative, but besides that this game looks awesome.

I know what you are thinking: “FUCK OFF WITH THE APRIL FOOLS”! But this time we’re not fooling.

Take a gander at Colin Farrell in this new trailer for this summer’s Total Recall film, which is supposedly more loyal to Philip K Dick’s original short story. We don’t really care if it is. We just want our Three Titted Woman back! Now “open your mind…”

This was an April Fools joke… but it still would have made a better movie than the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender film!

Today WB Studios was finally able to talk about the rumor that has been buzzing for months. They will be releasing a live action feature length film based in the Pokemon universe.

A WB spokesperson said today at the press conference

We wan’t to give the fans what they want. We’ve been listening to the outcry for a live action version and all the suggestions. We feel that ANY Pokemon fan of ANY age will love this film

The film is set to be directed and written by M. Night Shyamalan. WB representatives said

We have always been impressed by M. Night’s ability to weave a coherent story line and leave the audience shocked by his classic twist endings.

Also during the press conference the leading cast had been announced. The lead role of Ash Ketchum will be played by Joe Jonas. The voice actor who will be playing the role of Ash’s Pikachu, Pikachu, was hand picked by M. Night himself. Vin Diesel will take up the role of the electric mouse as Joe Jonas’ sidekick. When asked M. Night said

I have always been in love with Vin Diesels voice. After hearing his role as the Iron Giant I feel that he could easily voice act in ANY children’s movie. His soothing child like tone will be perfect for the small Pikachu.

Set to play the role of Brock, the first gym leader Ash encounters in the story, will be Zachary Quinto. M. Night said his emotional and power role as Spock was his decision to cast Quinto has the emotional Brock.

Lastly, the role of Misty will be played by Lindsey Lohan. The studio said they want a “spicy rambunctious redhead” to play the role of the spunky counterpart to Ash.

The perfect combination of: Castle Crashers , Lost Vikings and Team Fortress 2. That is the easiest way to explain the awesome that is “Awesomenauts”. The game hits PSN May 1st and XBLA May 2nd. In the mean time, check out the epic trailer below. I am personally sold on this game, just by the trailer alone.

The insanely popular book and now TV series, Game of Thrones, has branched out to another media. Games!

It’s obvious that the RPG Powerhouse, Atlus, really put their entire effort into this game. It looks AMAZING, with good voice acting and an original story written under the direct supervision of George R. R. Martin I do not feel that this game will disappoint.

Game hits stores May 15th. Thats for Xbox, PS3 and PC (STEAM).

Check out the official site for the game here.

Sad news today. The once great looking MMO, Warhammer 40K: Dark Millenium, had a monumental shift today.

Changing from an MMO to an:

Immersive single player and online multiplayer experience with robust digital content, and engaging community features.

Well shit. Personally I am very disappointed. With the MMO market really diluted with WoW clones, a game set in the grimdark 40K universe was going to be amazing. Spacemarines. Choas Spacemarines. Space Orkz. Daemons. The perfect combination of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Now, I’m not sure what to expect from the game now.

To top of the crap cake with shit sprinkles, the direction change THQ is taking also took the jobs of 79 employees at Vigil Games and 39 at Relic. It’s not on the same level as the exodus EA tends to do, but these studios were pretty small to begin with.

Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, something good comes out of this. I still wan’t my Chaos Spacemarine’s. MMO or not.

So what do you think of this? The 40K universe has been represented nicely with the Dawn of War games and now Spacemarine. Is this shift away from the MMO indicative of their Warhammer Fantasy MMO failing? Do you  think we’re just gonna get another series of games like the Dawn of War, that have consistent expansion packs released with new races and stories?

My list of demands are small. Keep the Titans. More Chaos Spacemarines. COOP. Keep the COOP from the past games in. Any 40K fans? I’d love to hear what you think.

Today on the official Avengers Twitter, they announced the official soundtrack for the movie. Here it is below.

A weird combination of 2000 era bands. I am having flashbacks from middle school looking at this list. Which I believe was their thinking putting this group together. It was a emotional attempt to bring the people my age who aren’t into comics to check this movie out, as the soundtrack is aptly titles “AVENGERS ASSEMBLE”. Is this really the best AVENGERS OF MUSIC they could think of?

The same day also marks the release of the Score written by Alan Silvestri.

Today the crew over at Capcom and CyberConnect2 announced that starting this afternoon on PS3 (28th XBOX), players of the crazy genre blending anime-fueled  experience, will be able to purchase and download the first in a series of DLC for the game.

The fabulous folks over at GOG (Good Old Games) have released a STAGGERING amount of news today regarding their deal with CD Projekt RED and their spring lineup.

Two weeks before the release of Witcher II: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition, GOG and CD Projekt Red, the Polish developer of the Witcher series, wll stream a live event. The official press release says:

“Just two weeks before we launch Enhanced Edition on Xbox 360 and PC,
and we’re doing something that is truly extraordinary. I don’t think
anyone’s ever done something like this for their gamers. We have
prepared pretty big surprises for gamers of all kinds, and we think
that you will enjoy them a lot. If games are your passion, watch our
conference,” said Marcin Iwinski, Joint CEO of CD Projekt RED S.A.

Witcher II: Assassins of Kings is slated to ship internationally on May 17th. So make sure to check out GOG.com two weeks prior for the live stream.

If you are unfamiliar with GOG, let me bring you up to speed. They are a revolutionary group of lads and lasses that offer DRM-FREE digital distribution of games. They’re know for offering games that have been long out of print. It’s the only place to get a copy of my favorite PC FPS of all time, SHOGO.

Starting with Witcher II and Legend of Grimrock (GOG is the only digital distrubution service offering preorders of Legend of Grimrock, and they are putting a 20% discount on top of that.) they will start moving out of the “Classic Game” market and begin offering DRM-FREE new releases! Along with the new stuff, you can get copies of Trine and The Whispered World as well.

So what does this mean for us PC gamers? Well GOG has always been a nuisance to their competitors but never really offered anything for the likes of STEAM, ORiGIN or Direct2Drive to really be worried about. Now though, with the advent of true DRM-FREE release day available games, it is really putting GOG up there in the same boat as STEAM. We’ve all been there, internet goes down, moving or leaving on a jet plane and no access to the Steamcloud and all those games out of reach, hopefully this push by GOG will make STEAM and the others to offer a bit of change.

Earlier this month we showed you leaked screenshots from the upcoming Ubisoft game AC3. Well today Ubisoft has sent out an official PR media update with not only Hi-Res copies of the leaked screen-shots, but also official box art! Check ’em out below.

Also, with the update, was a teaser trailer. The trailer gives us a quick overview of the main character, Connor, and his myriad of weapons. Check THAT out below.
