Show of hands: who had one or both of the original Gameboy games, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue (Green never made it to the U.S.)? I remember choosing Blue back in the day.

Even those who didn’t have a chance to play those old cartridges should be psyched for the upcoming New Nintendo 3DS bundle. This commemorative edition will come packed with a New Nintendo 3DS (not an XL), two cover plates, copies of Red and Blue pre-installed along with a code for an exclusive HOME menu theme.

You will be able to purchase this bundle from video game retailers on February 27. Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, as well as Pokémon Yellow will also be available as eShop digital downloads on February 27.

Excited? Which classic title do you plan on re-playing first?

I’m not going to start with too much fluff, because the first Nintendo Direct of the new year speaks for itself. Majoras Mask New 3DS is launching as well!!! I went from not wanting it to wanting two within 15 minutes. To paraphrase the wise words of Rebecca Black, which one shall I take!?

So… the relief I felt from being able to save money post holidays as all but disappeared considering nearly everything shown was announced between now and May. Which New 3DS will you pre-order today? Which games will you pick up? Where are you planning to sell your body to afford all of this, and can I join you? My body will have to be ready.

Briefly: Microsoft has just announced a new Xbox One bundle, and I may just buy one.

Revealed on Xbox Wire earlier today, the bundle will include everything found in today’s Xbox One package, plus a downloadable copy of EA’s highly anticipated shooter, Titanfall (which also launches on March 11th).

This game is the one title that’s made me want an Xbox One so far. I already own a Wii U and a PS4 however, so it’s been tough to justify. Titanfall, however, just looks so damned good.

Here’s the official word on the bundle from Microsoft:

After it was first unveiled at E3 last year, we were delighted to see “Titanfall” quickly become the most anticipated game of the new console generation. Winning more than 80 coveted awards from critics around the world, “Titanfall” has been described as “a brave new vision of the future of multiplayer games”, “the first real next-gen shooter” and “the most addictive game ever.”

Heralded as the “next generation of gaming” and a “killer app” for Xbox One, the excitement and anticipation for “Titanfall” has been building not just amongst gamers, but also among the Xbox team. We bet big on “Titanfall” from the beginning and Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts were tremendous partners to our team as we developed Xbox One.

In many ways, the launch of “Titanfall” will enable us to deliver the first truly next generation multiplayer game – one that will take advantage of the new party and chat improvements we’re delivering, build on the power of the cloud in a way only Microsoft can, and connect fans on Xbox Live, home of the best multiplayer and service in gaming. With Xbox One, we invested in features like multiplayer alerts so you never miss a match while watching TV and so much more.

To celebrate the launch of “Titanfall”, we wanted to do something special. For those of you who are already fans of Xbox One, we hope this will encourage more of your friends to join you on day one for “Titanfall” on Xbox One. If you’ve been waiting for the biggest game of the generation before purchasing your Xbox One, this special, limited time offer is perfect for you. In partnership with Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts, we’re excited to announce the Xbox One “Titanfall” Bundle, available starting March 11 for $499.99* at select retailers.

Take a look at Titanfall‘s latest trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up a bundle.

Briefly: The PS4 and Playstation Vita are a match made in heaven.

Seriously, I’ve already used Remote Play substantially more than I thought I would (though I’m still having trouble making it work on another network). I played through Contrast almost exclusively using Remote Play as the first Bioshock was being experienced on the television, and I didn’t feel impeded by it whatsoever.

The biggest success of Remote Play? The fact that I touched my Vita, which is something that I haven’t done in nearly a year.

If you’re in the UK, it appears that you’ll actually be able to pick up a bundle that includes both a PS4 and a PS Vita. No price or release date has been set, as the bundle hasn’t been officially announced, but a photo of the bundle has appeared in the latest issue of MCV.

We’ll be sure to let you know wham the release date is set, and if the bundle will be coming to other regions! Would you pick this one up, or is Remote Play not a good enough reason to own a Vita (though I do hear that Tearaway should be a system seller)?

It looks like Nintendo finally found something to do with all of those Basic Wii U models.

This morning, Nintendo dropped a welcomed surprise, when it was announced that they were teaming up with Activision to bring us the Skylanders: Swap Force Wii U bundle.

Arriving on November 15th, the package comes with a Swap Force starter pack, complete with Ninja Stealth Elf, Swash Buckler and Blast-Zone, the Portal of Power and the software itself. If that wasn’t enough, the package also includes exclusive Skylanders posters, trading cards stickers, and a copy of Nintendoland. That’s two games, one of which is a full starter set, for the same price as the standard Deluxe bundle, for an MSRP of $299. A great deal by any standards.

This is the part where collectors should pay attention, because that Swash Buckler that usually comes with the Starter Pack? Well, this Wii U bundle comes with a special gold colored version, which as of now, will only be included with this deal. I know a couple of collectors who would buy a Wii U just for that figure. Skylanders collectors are hardcore, man.

Nintendo seems serious about staging a comeback for the Wii U this holiday season. First, the Zelda bundle hit in late September, bundled with an early digital copy of the Gamecube classic, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the Hyrule Historia book and an exclusive designed Game Pad drove sales. Then, a few days ago, Nintendo announced an upcoming Mario bundle, coming packaged with New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U on November 1st. Little did we know that the biggest bundle yet was yet to come, but of course, the only catch is the console itself is the basic model. Good for those who want a white console, bad for those who want to download more than two games during the system’s life. Oh well, there’s always external storage.

Will this third party team up between one of the hottest holiday items and the struggling Wii successor  be enough to move units this holiday? There’s plenty of potential, since nagging kids plus a low price point compared to the competition can equal eager parents, not to mention the collectors. Oh… the collectors. Tell us how you think this will affect sales this holiday season below.

If you’re a zombie fan and haven’t yet picked up Nintendo’s Wii U, you’re about to have a fantastic opportunity.

Nintendo announced today that the Zombi U Deluxe Wii U Bundle is finally coming to North America (it’s been available in the UK since the console’s launch). On top of the regular Deluxe console contents (32gb Black Console, Gamepad, Nintendoland, Digital Deluxe Promotion, etc), this bundle also includes Ubisoft’s phenomenal ZombiU, and one of Nintendo’s Pro controllers.

The bundle becomes available on February 17th, and will retail for $389.99 (a cool $70 savings from all items being purchased separately).

ZombiU is a fantastic title, but be warned: it’s damn scary, and hard as hell. If you like your games to hold your hand through their entirety, you should probably avoid this one. If you like badass experiences and insanely affective atmospheres, please check this out, you won’t be disappointed.

In the middle of the night, a 56 page report apparently coming from Microsoft and written in 2010, was leaked onto the internet. It details their next console dubbed the Xbox 720, in pretty good detail. The time of writing this the document has been removed from the server. Lets take a look at what was inside.

The most intriguing part of the release was that the 720 will feature a Blu Ray disk drive and full 1080P output, with a “Low Powered Always On Mode” it also will have the ability to act as a DVR. If a Blu Ray is in fact standard issue, then we can definitely expect some BIG sized games.  Lets take a look at the raw specs from the document.

The compelling info lies with the backwards compatibility. With three PowerPC cores at 3.4Ghz used to mimic the 360 architecture. This lets all previous games play natively without emulation.

The 720 doesn’t seem to be skimping on power. With up to 8 ARM CPU cores set at 2Ghz, we can expect powerful content of all kinds. It is kind of required for constant 1080P output though.

The big peripherals that are included in this report are what make me believe this report to legitimate. The console will come with Kinect V2 bundled. It has the ability to track 4 players and new “Kinect Props”. Kinect Props are just that, props you use when playing with the kinect. If we look at one of the illustrations, we can clearly see someone using a baseball bat with their Kinect.

That has disaster written all over it. When the WiiMote was flying off wrists and busting TVs, it was called a terror to living rooms. Add 1:1 scale BATS or GOLF CLUBS or whatever to the equation and you have a recipe for destroyed TVs.

Then we have these Kinect Glasses called Project Fortaleza. That sounds like a type of Ferrari. These are Microsoft’s answer to Google Glasses. These will offer 3D viewing of games or movies. The report mentions 4G, so they could be used outside the 720 system.

Top that all off with a Holiday 2013 release at $299, you can expect that the Xbox 720 to be the first foray into the next generation of game consoles.
