I downloaded the app within minutes of it becoming available (I’m really, really excited for the PS4), and… it needs some work. It’s slow and a little bit ugly, and for a lot of things it seems to need to jump to the Playstation website. I do appreciate the ability to send messages to my five PSN friends (add me at CaptainK17 if you’re looking for more), but it really shouldn’t take minutes for the notification to arrive.

It’s the first release for the application, so hopefully things get better with time! It’s totally FREE to download and use, so why not give it a shot? iOS users can download here, and Android users can go here!

Once you’ve played with the app, let us know what you think!

Briefly: Following the batch of new character posters earlier this week, Summit Entertainment has just debuted a new trailer for next year’s Divergent.

I still don’t know much about the project (I’ve never read the Veronica Roth series that the book is based on), but everything we’ve seen from the footage released so far has been very solid. This new trailer is no different, and it features plenty of excellent new footage.

Take a look at the newest trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to it! Divergent hits theatres on March 21st!

Those of you who have read the books, how does Divergent look to you?

Based on Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times best-selling novel, DIVERGENT is a gripping action thriller set in a futuristic world where society has been divided into five factions. As each person approaches adulthood, he or she must choose a faction and commit to it for the rest of their life. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) chooses Dauntless—the daring risk-takers who pursue bravery above all else. During the Dauntless initiation, Tris completes death-defying stunts and faces her inmost fears in spectacular simulations. When she discovers she is a Divergent, someone who will never be able to fit into just one faction, she is warned that she must conceal this secret or risk her life. As Tris uncovers a looming war which threatens her family and the life of the mysterious Dauntless leader whom she has come to love, Tris must face her greatest test yet—deciding whether revealing she is a Divergent will save her world—or destroy it.

Briefly: Just a few days ago it was announced that Marvel and Netflix have partnered up to develop four series (and a miniseries) based on Marvel heroes.

It’s pretty much some of the most exciting comic-book-coming-to-screen news ever, and now we know who may be writing one of the shows.

Drew Goddard, co-writer/director of 2012’s The Cabin in the Woods, as well as a prominent LOST and Alias scribe, has allegedly been tapped to write the Daredevil series.

The news hasn’t been confirmed by Disney, Netflix, or Goddard’s representatives, but wouldn’t this be a freaking awesome partnership?

We’ll let you know as soon as we hear confirmation of this one. Be sure to let us know what you think of the rumour, and more importantly, who do you want to see as Matt Murdock?

Briefly: With just a few days to go until the PS4 officially releases (and boy am I getting excited), Digital Extremes has debuted the official launch trailer for Warframe.

It’s a free-to-play shooter about space ninjas, and it just may be my most anticipated PS4 title.

Seriously, space ninjas. You can do all kinds of crazy moves, and it’s FREE-TO-PLAY! Take a look at the trailer below (which is in-game by the way), and let us know if you’ll be downloading! Warframe will hit the Playstation Store on November 15th!

Briefly: Warner Bros. has just debuted an excellent new character poster for next year’s highly anticipated The Lego Movie.

The latest one-sheet features the caped crusader himself, who will be voiced by Will Arnett in the film.

If you haven’t seen the film’s trailer yet, I’d highly recommend that you check it out, as this thing looks wonderful. In any case, take a look at the new poster below, and let us know what you think! The Lego Movie hits theatres on February 7th, 2014!

Batman Character Poster For 'The Lego Movie'

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world.

Briefly: Finally, finally, finally.

First teased all the way back in July, the first chapter of Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea launches today for Xbox 360, PS3, Windows, and OS X.

Irrational Games has just debuted a launch trailer for the DLC, which has me frantically refreshing the Playstation Store, waiting for it to appear. Bioshock Infinite has been one of my favourite titles on 2013, and I simply cannot wait to see Booker and Elizabeth in Andrew Ryan’s Rapture.

Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know if you plan on playing today! Burial at Sea – Episode One costs a cool $14.99 (though you should probably just pick up the season pass for $19.99, which will include the second chapter).

On the eve of Rapture’s fall from grace, Elizabeth enlists Booker DeWitt’s services in locating a lost girl. Who is this girl Sally, what does Booker know of her supposed fate, and what is Elizabeth’s connection to this mysterious child? Find the answers to these questions and more in this new addition to BioShock Infinite, almost entirely from scratch by Irrational Games.

Briefly: Community fans (and who isn’t one?) should be especially excited about this!

Adult Swim has just announced the premiere date of Rick and Morty, a new animated series from Dan Harmon and House of Cosbys Justin Roiland. Rick and Morty follows a sociopathic scientist who drags his unintelligent grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.

Here’s a synopsis from Adult Swim:

After missing for nearly 20 years, Rick Sanchez (Justin Roiland) suddenly arrives at his daughter Beth’s (Sarah Chalke) doorstep looking to move in with her and her family. Beth welcomes him with open arms, but her unremarkable husband Jerry (Chris Parnell) isn’t too thrilled about the tearful reunion as Rick’s arrival serves to shake things up quite a bit around the household. Rick converts the garage into his personal laboratory and gets to work on all sorts of dangerous sci-fi gadgets and contraptions. That wouldn’t be so bad if not for the fact that Rick continues to involve his grandchildren Morty (Roiland) and Summer (Spencer Grammer) in his insane adventures.

The show looks absolutely hilarious, and you’ll only have to wait a few more weeks to check it out! Rick and Morty will premiere on December 2nd at 10:30PM.

Take a look at a Rick and Morty sneak peek below, and let us know if you’ll be watching!

Briefly: With the release of the Playstation 4 just a few days away (I’m getting my camping gear ready), Sony has just debuted two new videos for Killzone: Shadow Fall.

The first is the game’s launch trailer, which focusses on the game’s plot, as well as showing off Vetka. The second video, labelled a ‘Tech Trailer’ shows off some of the great new technology coming to the game via the power of the Playstation 4.

Take a look at both videos below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up Killzone: Shadow Fall with you PS4. I’m still trying to decide between it and Knack, any suggestions?

Set thirty years after the events of the Killzone trilogy, the world of Killzone Shadow Fall is a very different place. Forced together by circumstance, the two rival factions of the Helghast and the Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city, divided by a vast wall.

Briefly: Robert Kirkman’s latest project hasn’t even hit comic book stores yet, and it’s already getting a TV adaptation.

Not surprising at all, given the ratings of his other show.

Cinemax has partnered with Fox International to develop Outcast, a series based on Kirkman and Azaceta’s upcoming exorcism comic.

Outcast focuses on Kyle Barnes, a man who has been plagued by possession for his entire life, and begins a journey to discover why. Details on the series are scarce at this point, but it does sound interesting as hell. We’ll be sure to fill you in as soon as we learn more!

Are you into another drama based on Kirkman’s work? Or is The Walking Dead enough for you? Sound out below!

Briefly: Following the film’s first two character posters from way back in September, Summit Entertainment has debuted four new Divergent one-sheets.

The new images feature Mekhi Phifer (Max), Jai Courtney (Eric), Miles Teller (Peter), and Zoe Kravitz (Christina), and precede the film’s newest trailer, which is set to debut this Wednesday.

Take a look at the new posters below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the film! Divergent hits theatres on March 21st, 2014!

Briefly: Denny’s (yep, the restaurant) today debuted a brand new featurette for next month’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

The video takes us behind the scenes with some of the cast, and also introduces Beorn’s house, which looks just as incredible as you’d imagine. The featurette also features plenty of new footage, and will definitely up your excitement for the film.

Take a look at the new featurette below, and let us know what you think! The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theatres (and IMAX) on December 13th!

The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

Briefly: This game looks incredible.

I wasn’t really a fan of the first Dead Rising title (great idea, but pretty poor execution in my opinion… it got boring really fast), and never actually had an opportunity to play Dead Rising 2. That being said, as soon as I get my hands on an Xbox One, Dead Rising 3 will be the game that goes with it.

Capcom today launched a fantastic story trailer for the title, showing off a little of Nick Ramos’ journey from simple mechanic to possibly-the-only-hope-for-humanity. The game looks cinematic as hell (which I’m big on), and some of the zombie numbers that you see onscreen are breathtaking.

Take a look at the story trailer for Dead Rising 3 below, and let us know what you think! Dead Rising 3 launches with the Xbox One on November 22nd!

Briefly: With the two newest entries into the next generation of consoles just about ready to launch, it’s time to get advertising!

Microsoft has just launched a new trailer for the Xbox One, this time forgoing games almost completely, and insteady showing off the sexy new casing of the Xbox One. It does look great, and the changes to the Xbox One controller look beyond welcome.

Take a look at the video below, and be sure to let us know what you think! The Xbox One launches on November 22nd!

Briefly: This may just be the best car commercial that’s ever been produced.

Seriously, it features both Spocks (Nimoy and Quinto)… need I say more?

It also features the insanely gorgeous Audi S7, and they didn’t even pay me to say that. Check it out below, and let us know how much fun you had watching it!

Briefly: With the launch of the Playstation 4 now less than a week away (arg… I still need to figure out where to line up), Sony has announced a few sweet goodies that will come with every PS4 console.

In North America, each unit will include a code for a 30 day trial of Playstation Plus (to get them hooked on the service from day one), a 30 day trial of Sony’s Music Unlimited service (seeing as the unit cannot play MP3’s…), and a voucher for $10 of Playstation Store credit (which is more than half way to another three months of Playstation Plus).

If you’re already a Playstation Plus subscriber, the 30 day trial won’t do anything for you, as it’s for new subscribers only. I’m also kind of hoping that Music Unlimited bombs, as that’s likely the only reason the console doesn’t support standard MP3 files. The $10 credit is pretty great though, I’m just hoping that day one owners are able to get into the store without issue!

What do you think of the goodies? Are you planning to pick up a PS4 on the 15th? Which launch game should I get!?

Briefly: BBC has just debuted a new trailer for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor.

The trailer looks pretty fantastic, though I can’t say that I really know what’s going on as I still haven’t seen a single episode of the show.

In any case, take a look at the video below, and let us know how excited you are! The Day of the Doctor airs on November 23rd (and is also hitting theatres)!

Briefly: Sony has revealed a trio of new stills from next year’s anticipated The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

None of the new images reveal much of the feature, but we do get another look at Jamie Fox as Electro, Peter and Gwen staring longingly at each other, and… Spider-Man playing a fireman.

I hate it.

Sure, it could work in a comic book as a quick little gag or a panel to lighten up a serious situation, but it just looks silly here. Maybe the image is out of context and everything is much better than it looks here… but I’m not holding my breath.

Take a look at the new images below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the film! The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theatres on May 2nd, 2014. The first trailer will release next month with The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Briefly: First of all, has the movie officially been called Batman vs. Superman, or is everyone still playing off of that rumour?

In any case, it’s been rumoured for some time that the film would also feature Wonder Woman herself, Diana Prince. Earlier this morning, Variety revealed just who may be on the short list for the role.

First up is Fast & Furious star Gal Gadot:

Then there’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation’s Elodie Yung:

And last (but not least), Oblivion‘s Olga Kurylenko:

Like all rumours, take this with a grain of salt. I’d certainly love to see Wonder Woman on the big screen, so we’ll be sure to let you know of any more developments!

Rumour or not, who would you like to see portray the character? Sound out below!

Briefly: The Xbox One is now just a few weeks away from stores, and Microsoft has just launched a new video detailing 12 minutes of the new console’s dashboard.

The video shows a lot of cool new features, including fast app switching, some crazy new Kinect functionality, Skype integration, and much more. Everything looks smooth and easy-to-use, and it looks to be a substantial improvement over the Xbox 360.

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! With both the PS4 and Xbox One launching in the next few weeks, will you be picking up one, both, or neither? Sound out below!

Briefly: Columbia Pictures has just launched an awesome second trailer (plus a new poster) for next year’s Robocop.

The remake stars The Killing lead Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, who is, well, a cop who is fatally injured and is then turned into a robot.

I wasn’t really expecting too much from this remake, but seeing that first trailer definitely raised my hope for the picture. I have to say that this second preview has raised it even further! I didn’t think a new Robocop could be cool, but Joel Kinnaman certainly looks bad-ass in the role. Then again, the new Total Recall looked pretty fantastic too… and we all know how that one turned out (bad).

Take a look at the new media below, and be sure to share your thoughts on the upcoming remake! Robocop hits theatres on February 12th!

hr_RoboCop_11

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

Briefly: We’re just four episodes into American Horror Story: Coven, and FX has already renewed the series for a fourth season.

“Put simply, Ryan Murphy is a master television producer,” said Landgraf. “Time and time again he reinvents the form. What he, co-creator Brad Falchuk and their producers Dante Di Loreto, Tim Minear, Jennifer Salt, James Wong, Brad Buecker, Jessica Sharzer, Douglas Petrie, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, Alexis Martin Woodall and the entire production team and cast responsible for the American Horror Story franchise have done is nothing short of extraordinary. Every year, they create a riveting and brilliant new miniseries.  AHS: Coven is the best yet, and I have no doubt that the next installment will be even better.”

The network has ordered an additional 13 episodes to compose the fourth season. We’ll share more info as soon as it’s announced!

Briefly: Legendary Comics has just revealed that The Tower Chronicles is set to return in an all-new format.

Instead of larger volumes, The Tower Chronicles: DreadStalker will instead be released monthly. This is fantastic news for fans, as they’ll now get their Tower fix every single month, instead of every few!

Writer Matt Wagner and artist Simon Bisley return to present Issue 1 of The Tower Chronicles: DreadStalkeravailable in stores and online in April 2014.

Take a look at the cover art for DreadStalker‘s first issue below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up!

HE LIVES TO KILL THE DEAD

These are the tales of John Tower: a supernatural bounty hunter who hunts and destroys the uncanny evils that haunt our world.

Continuing his centuries-old quest, our hero battles sinister demons and unimaginable nightmares in an attempt to track down ancient artifacts of immense power that can finally help him achieve his mysterious goals.

But shadowing his every move is the Chateau Group, a sinister corporation whose influence controls some of the world’s most powerful leaders. They seek the same objects as Tower and will do anything to stop him and his allies – no matter the cost.

Can he and his unofficial “partner,” FBI agent Alicia Hardwicke, band together against the evil that awaits them in the dark… or will her unwanted digging into his mysterious past split their team and make them easier prey?

Written by Matt Wagner, the creator of Grendel and Mage, and co-created with Legendary’s Thomas Tull, The Tower Chronicles: DreadStalker features stunning art by acclaimed 2000 AD and Lobo artist Simon Bisley.

Briefly: With just a few weeks to go until Microsoft launches the Xbox One, the company has released a fantastic launch trailer for upcoming launch title Forza Motorsport 5.

I’ve always placed myself firmly in the Gran Turismo camp (Forza always looked great, but I don’t even have time for one time-sucking racing title, let alone two). This trailer may have sold me however, seeing as Gran Turismo 6 is a current-gen title, and won’t look nearly as good as Forza 5 does.

Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know just how excited you are for Forza 5. Will you be picking up an Xbox One on November 22nd?

Briefly: Reef Entertainment today debuted a new gameplay trailer for the long awaited Rambo: The Video Game.

The preview shows off plenty of the game’s action scenes. From Rambo’s classic bow, ripping out someone’s throat with a knife, to right out exploding a dude, this game looks to have it all. Sure, the graphics are kinda bad, but it’s a freaking Rambo game.

The title covers the events of Rambo I, II, and III, so action lovers young and old should find something to feel nostalgic about when Rambo: The Video Game hits PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in early 2014. Watch the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Indonesian hit The Raid (or The Raid: Redemption, whatever floats your boat) was one of 2011’s most surprising, most brutal, and most loved action films of that year.

Haven’t seen it? Go. Right now. It’s amazing, then come back and check out this first trailer for the sequel.

That’s right! The long-awaited first trailer for The Raid 2: Berandal has just debuted online. It’s intense and brutal, just as you’d expect, and while it doesn’t reveal too much about the feature (it is a teaser trailer, after all), it reminds us that The Raid 2 is happening, and that it’s going to be awesome.

Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think! The Raid 2: Berandal doesn’t have an official North American release date yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as it does!

Briefly: A new, live-action trailer for Killzone: Shadow Fall has just debuted online.

The video, titled ‘Oaths and Promises’, is a clear example of the excellent marketing that Sony is using this generation (though it’s not nearly as good as this ad).

It also does a great job of reminding me that the PS4 comes out in 10 days, and I still haven’t figured out how to get my hands on one…

In any case, take a look at the video below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game! Killzone: Shadow Fall launches with the PS4 on November 15th!

Briefly: Activision has just launched a sweet new live-action trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts, which hit stores today.

The trailer was directed by The Wolverine director James Mangold (who just entered talks to helm a sequel). It also features Megan Fox, and stars a bunch of pals going to war together. Cute, huh?

Take a look at the video below, and let us know if you picked up the game!

Briefly: Warner Bros. has just debuted a lengthy new trailer and a brand-new one sheet for next month’s anticipated The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

The trailer clocks in at a cool three-minutes, and shows off plenty of footage that we haven’t seen. Does this stuff look impressive or what?

First up, here’s the new poster:

300947id1a_TheHobbit_TDOS_Intl_27x40_1Sheet.indd

Seriously, we can’t wait. The Desolation of Smaug is going to look damn pretty in 48FPS 3D. Take a look at the newest trailer below, and let us know if you’re excited. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theatres on December 13th!

The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Briefly: It’s not officially official yet (Director James Mangold is still in negotiations), but it looks like we’re set to get another The Wolverine.

Deadline reports that the film is now in the works, with Mangold in talks to write the treatment for the film (and likely subsequently direct, since he did a pretty bang-up job on the first).

No information on the film’s storyline has been revealed, but we’ll be sure to share it as soon as we hear more!

Briefly: Just a few weeks after Telltale launched the first episode of The Wolf Among Us (read my review here), Fables creator Bill Willingham has announced the end of the long-running comic series.

Here’s what Bill had to say (vis his official blog):

After more than ten years of publication, and hundreds of issues of Fables, and various Fables-related works, I have decided the time has come to begin the process of bringing our sweeping story to a close. And, along the way, I’ve decided to retire from a great deal of my comics work.

Retirement in the storytelling trade means, still working and writing every day, but being a bit more selective in what projects I take on. Pushing 60, I thought it would be a good time to start making concrete plans for those remaining good writing years.

Fables will end with Issue 150, which will be a larger than usual size, as were many of the other milestone issues. Fairest, our companion series, will also come to an end just before the big final Fables issue.

Both DC and I will announce more details later on, but first and foremost I wanted to let our wonderful readers know about this as soon as I could, and note that our story plans leading up to Issue 150 made it increasingly clear that this upcoming saga should naturally be the final story.

Of course Mark is already well aware of this and said, “I respect Bill’s decision and am looking forward to working with him on the book’s epic final year, leading to the series’ grand finale.”

Newsarama is going to have more details, and I’ll link to their story as soon as it’s ready to go.

Let me restate my thanks to the best, sustained readership in all of comics. I promise to do my best to make the coming year in Fables a great one.

After playing the Telltale title, I’m just about to start the main Fables series, so I’m sad to see it come to an end (though it makes the series seem less daunting). Have you been reading the series? What do you think about the announcement? Sound out below!

Fables
