Briefly: Following the casting of Rosario Dawson less than a week ago, Marvel has just announced the next addition to Daredevil.

Here’s what Marvel had to say:

Marvel and Netflix are proud to announce that acclaimed actor Elden Henson has joined “Marvel’s Daredevil,” an all-new 13-episode series premiering on Netflix in 2015.

With a diverse body of acclaimed work, including the “Hunger Games” and “Mighty Ducks” franchises, Elden Henson will play Foggy Nelson, Matt Murdock’s best friend and legal partner. In a town full of crime and corruption, Foggy’s friendship to the community and passion for improving it have made him a friend to its many residents from all walks of life.

Henson joins Charlie Cox (previously announced as Matt Murdock), Vincent D’Onofrio (previously announced as Wilson Fisk) and Rosario Dawson in the critically-lauded cast of “Marvel’s Daredevil.”

Marvel’s head of TV, Jeph Loeb stated that “Elden plays one of the most important characters in the world of ‘Marvel’s Daredevil,’ and we’re thrilled to see Foggy Nelson brought to life by such an incredibly talented actor. He perfectly captures the heart and soul of this series, bringing an added resonance to Matt Murdock’s fight against the injustice in their great city.

Are you happy with the casting choice? Is there anyone else you’d have rather seen in the role? Sound out below!

“Marvel’s Daredevil” follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

Briefly: Following the reveal of Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as The Kingpin, Marvel has officially announced that Rosario Dawson has joined the Daredevil series for Netflix.

Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television said that “Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil. Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”

She’s no stranger to comic book adaptations, portraying Gail in both Sin City films and voicing Artemis in the 2009 animated Wonder Woman film.

The release reads that Dawson “will play a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.”

Briefly: Following the casting of Charlie Cox as Daredevil a few weeks back, Marvel and Netflix have officially revealed the actor who will portray the Kingpin.

It’s Full Metal Jacket‘s Vincent D’Onofrio.

Daredevil‘s new showrunner, Steven S. DeKnight (Drew Goddard left the role last month) made the announcement via twitter:

Are you happy with the choice? Is there anyone else you’d rather see in the role? Be sure to let us know! Daredevil will premiere on Netflix in 2015!

Briefly: Former showrunner Drew Goddard left the project this past weekend (leaving it in the capable hands of Steven S. DeKnight), but Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil has just found its star.

Briefly: Just yesterday word broke out that director Edgar Wright had left Marvel’s Ant-Man over creative differences, and now it appears that Marvel has lost another director.

Latino-Review was the first to report the news, which was later confirmed by Variety, that Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard had departed the upcoming Netflix original Daredevil series. Goddard was set to write and direct the first episode in the miniseries, and also act as its showrunner. Instead, he’ll focus his attention on Sony’s Sinister Six film, which he is also set to write and direct.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer and Spartacus showrunner Steven S. DeKnight has taken the reigns on the project, which will premiere on Netflix in 2015.

How do you feel about Goddard’s departure? Are you still looking forward to the series? Sound out below!

Briefly: Just a few days ago it was announced that Marvel and Netflix have partnered up to develop four series (and a miniseries) based on Marvel heroes.

It’s pretty much some of the most exciting comic-book-coming-to-screen news ever, and now we know who may be writing one of the shows.

Drew Goddard, co-writer/director of 2012’s The Cabin in the Woods, as well as a prominent LOST and Alias scribe, has allegedly been tapped to write the Daredevil series.

The news hasn’t been confirmed by Disney, Netflix, or Goddard’s representatives, but wouldn’t this be a freaking awesome partnership?

We’ll let you know as soon as we hear confirmation of this one. Be sure to let us know what you think of the rumour, and more importantly, who do you want to see as Matt Murdock?

You might notice a slight delay between the recording and releasing of this episode and you can blame that squarely on Stephen. Regardless, you still get to hear which movies coming out in the next couple of months Heidi and Stephen are looking forward to and looking to avoid in the Brave Nerd World Spring Movie Extravanganza!

At SXSW tonight, I got a chance to talk to Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard about their new movie “The Cabin in the Woods”. We talked about the movie being shot 3 years ago, whether Chris Helmsworth got Joss the job directing The Avengers and what it was like developing a “cabin in the woods” style horror film!

We also talked to Cabin actress Anna Hutchison about her role in the movie… and her former life as a Power Ranger! Yup. We’re pretty much awesome… and so is the film! Expect a review soon!
