Marvel has just released another brand-new image from the highy-anticipated Iron Man 3, and this one doesn’t feature Tony Stark. No, instead we’ve got an image featuring Rebecca Hall as Maya Hansen, the creator of Extremis, which will be featured in the upcoming threequel.

Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Kevin Fiege has been talking about their desire to bring a live-action Inhumans film the big screen for awhile now. Now, it seems that maybe Marvel is testing the waters because they have just announced that on April 23rd,  Inhumans will debut in animated form in a new Marvel Knights movie. Check out the DVD cover art as well as a list of special features the DVD will contain below.

inhumans

Synopsis:

The Inhumans have always been one of Marvel’s most enduring oddities. A race of genetic outsiders, they live secluded in their island kingdom of Attilan, preferring not to mix with the outside world. Even stranger, their genetic mutations are self-endowed; each Inhuman, as a coming-of-age ritual, endures exposure to the Terrigen Mists, a strange substance that imparts unearthly powers–some extraordinary, some monstrous. But now the kingdom of Attilan is under attack from without and within. Can the Royal Family, led by Black Bolt, repel the foreign invaders who blast at their outer defenses, as well as the internal threat of Black Bolt’s insane brother, Maximus the Mad? This popular series takes a classic Marvel cast of characters, and infuses it with a modern sensibility that includes international politics and an awareness of class systems. Dark and grimly compelling, the “Inhumans” is one story that won’t be forgotten any time soon.

Bonus Features Include:

A Look Back At The Inhumans with Eisner Award-winning writer Paul Jenkins, Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada and Supervising Producer Kalia Cheng.

Clark Gregg may not be the only member of the Marvel Cinematic universe that could be appearing in Marvel and ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D. series. There’s a chance that Cobie Smulders could possibly appear in the series as S.H.I.E.L.D. operative Maria Hill. When asked about the possibility the actress told website IAmRogue:

“The commitments to [How I Met Your Mother] don’t affect it and I can’t really say but there are definite talks about it.”

With her other series, the long-running CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, coming to a wrap there’s a definite chance that we could see Smulders appear alongside The Avengers alumni Clark Gregg in the series if it gets picked up. Oh, who are we kidding? We meant when it gets picked up. The series pilot is currently rumored to air sometime in August.

Bryan Singer has just revealed that Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore will all be returning for X-Men: Days Of Future Past. The trio of course are all X-Men veterans (last appearing in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand), having portrayed Shadowcat, Rogue, and Iceman respectively.

Where would we be without Twitter, am I right? We certainly wouldn’t have this fantastic tidbit of information (and we wouldn’t know who MIGHT be directing ‘Justice League’ either)!

You’ll be able to see these three, along with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman and many, many others (hopefully including Lucas Till, who we spoke to just a few weeks ago) when X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theatres on July 18th, 2014.

During this year’s annual UK Toy Fair, the LEGO showroom featured an exclusive look at their upcoming sets based on Marvel’s Iron Man 3. No photos were allowed but website Brick Fanatics posted the descriptions of the sets, and one in particular stands out.

Not long ago it was revealed that Wang Xuequi would be joining the cast of the highly-anticipated Marvel Studios film as Chen Lu the alias of Radioactive Man. While using the character in a LEGO set doesn’t necessarily mean the charcter will indeed appear in the film, there have been numerous rumors of his appearance that even include a rumor of him appearing post-credits with an introduction to Ant-Man in the MCU. Guess we’re going. to have to wait and see if these rumors end up being true when the upcoming threequel hits theaters on May 3rd.

Longtime Geekscape friend Sam Humphries drops by Geekscape to talk about his upcoming Marvel book ‘Uncanny X-Force’ and the return of his creator owned book ‘Sacrifice’! Plus! We talk about his work in the Marvel Ultimate Universe and the make up of his X-Force team! That’s right! Puck returns! Also, ‘Todd: The Ugliest Kid On Earth’ writer Ken Kristensen calls in to talk about his new Image book and we preview ‘Movie 43’ with director Peter Farrelly! It’s just another packed episode of Geekscape! No big!

Developer High Moon Studios (Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy) today revealed five new screenshots for their playable adaptation of the merc with a mouth himself, Deadpool.

Of course, it’s pretty typical for games based on licensed characters to be absolute trash, but based on High Moon’s track record (I was a big fan of The Bourne Conspiracy, and have heard nothing but good things about the newer Transformers games) I’m quite looking forward to this one.

Deadpool looks stylish and violent as always, let’s just hope the plot (written by Deadpool regular Daniel Way) and gameplay live up to the character. The game is currently in development, and is slated to release sometime this year for PS3 and Xbox 360 (sorry Wii U owners).

Check out the new screens below, and as always, let us know what you think!

While these aren’t too revealing at all, Disney has sent out a press release that contains brief synopsises for Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians Of The Galaxy. The press release also confirms that both films will be released in 3D. Could this cosmic force of epic proportions be Thanos or an entirely new threat that we don’t know about yet?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (Marvel) will be available in 3D.
Releases on 4/4/14. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER will pick up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” leaves off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. The film stars Chris Evans in the title role and will be directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (Marvel) will be available in 3D.
Releases on 8/1/14. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, based on the Marvel comic books of the same name, features an unlikely cast of characters who must team up in order to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions. James Gunn will direct.

When word broke that Clark Gregg would be returning as Agent Coulson for Marvel & ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D., many wondered if perhaps the series would be a prequel to Marvel Studios the Avengers. There’s also been plenty of theories regarding how the character would re-appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, while speaking with IGN, ABC President Paul Lee was asked how Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. would tie in with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he has revealed that the pilot will be taking place after the battle of New York in The Avengers. So, life model decoys?

“There is no question that it is part of the Marvel Universe. In fact, the story takes place after the battle for New York.”

He also pointed out that while this is a part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, this series is very much a standalone series at the same time.

“This is S.H.I.E.L.D. They’re following their own particular stories. There are characters in it, Coulson, who clearly comes from Avengers. So it’s part of the world, but we’re going to be very, very careful that we don’t tread on the toes of the features and build a whole new world. And that’s what Joss Whedon does better than anybody else. He’s built a world for us.”

When asked about introducing more Marvel characters if the series gets picked up (even though we all know it’s going to), Lee sounded pretty optimistic about the possibility.

“I think if we’re lucky enough to have a great series, we’re obviously having fun with that. At this point though, we have a number of characters at the heart of the script who are real characters, who are the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the first task is to make those guys great and relatable and everything that a great show needs. Beyond that, fingers crossed!”

Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot begins filming next week and will most likely air on ABC during the fall.

So, oddly the teaser art is actually done by Art Adams. But come April Mike Hawthorne (Fear Agent, Hysteria) will be taking over art duties on Deadpool. Does this mean that Tony Moore is leaving the title or that Hawthorne is just doing a story arc? Guess we’re going to have to wait and find out.

Can’t get enough of the LEGO video games? Need more? Well, you’re getting more. Marvel Entertainment and LEGO are teaming up to bring you LEGO Marvel Super Heroes this fall, a video game based on the LEGO toy line of the same name. Check out the full press release below.

Marvel super heroes are assembling for an action-packed, brick-smashing good time! Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The LEGO Group and Marvel Entertainment announced today that “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” will be available beginning Fall 2013 for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, the Wii U system and Windows PC, as well as the Nintendo DS handheld system, Nintendo 3DS handheld system and PlayStation Vita handheld entertainment system. “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” is the first instalment in the highly successful LEGO videogame franchise to feature famous Marvel characters.

“LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” complements the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes construction toy collection, which brings the characters, vehicles and action of Marvel’s renowned universe to the world of LEGO build-and-play adventure. There are currently eight iconic scenes from the X-Men, Iron Man and Spider-Man franchises available and more construction sets tied to the new “Iron Man 3” feature film will launch later this spring.

“LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” offers an original storyline in which Nick Fury calls upon Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man, Wolverine and other heroes spanning the Marvel Universe to save Earth from such threats as the vengeance of Loki and the hunger of Galactus, Devourer of the Worlds. LEGO and Marvel fans will enjoy classic LEGO videogame adventure and humor, while playing as their favorite Marvel characters.

“We’re very excited to bring a myriad of classic Marvel characters to life in LEGO form for some fun, family-friendly gameplay in ‘LEGO Marvel Super Heroes,'” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games Publishing. “Players will brave the ultimate mission to save the world as they explore famous landmarks in LEGO New York and take the adventure beyond Earth to iconic locations in the Marvel Universe.”

“Fans of both LEGO and Marvel have wanted this game for years, and we’re addressing that demand with more Marvel Universe characters than ever in a console game,” said TQ Jefferson, Vice President, Games Production, Marvel Entertainment. “If you’re a fan of Spider-Man, the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy or scores of other Marvel characters, this is the game for you.”

In “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes,” players will unlock more than 100 characters from across the Marvel Universe, including fan favorites like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Deadpool, Loki and Galactus! The game will pack in a plethora of super-cool character abilities, combat-like action sequences, epic battle scenes, puzzle-solving and a unique story told with playful LEGO humor.

It’s the time to recap the week’s news and events with The Week In Comics! There wasn’t a lot of news this week in regards to comics but there was some pretty big news to report.

Jame Tynion IV Taking Over Writing Duties On Red Hood & The Outlaws

Red Hood And The Outlaws has been one of the New 52’s best titles so far and it looks like it’s getting even better. James Tynion IV (Talon) will be taking over writing duties after Lobdell finishes up his final story arc. [via Bleeding Cool]

Eddie Brock To Become The New “Toxin”

It’s been revealed that Eddie Brock will be returning to the Marvel Universe. But Brock won’t be coming back as Venom nor will he return as Anti-Venom. No, Brock will be returning as a new incarnation of Toxin, and will definitely be coming head to head with The Superior Spider-Man in the future. Cullen Bunn on Eddie Brock as the new Toxin: [via Newsarama]

You’ll start getting glimpses of him before issue #31, but in #31, Toxin returns. There are a lot of people who say, “Eddie Brock should be the only Venom. He’s the only person worthy of being Venom.” My goal, as lofty as it may be, is, I really want people to forget about Eddie as Venom. What [artist] Declan [Shalvey] and I are trying to do is, once we tell this story, I want people to associate Eddie Brock with Toxin.

It’s a lofty goal, because he has such a big history with Venom, but a lot of people really liked when he was Anti-Venom. We want to make Toxin a viable, interesting, dynamic character on his own — the Eddie/Toxin combo, or “Broxin” as I’ve seen him referred. [Laughs.] Our goal is to really make people love and hate and fear Toxin, and Eddie Brock.

When Eddie and Toxin were bonded in “Savage Six,” he was almost like this mindless killing machine. That is not the Toxin you are going to see. I don’t want to say he’s solidly a villain, but for Venom, at least, he is solidly an antagonist. The one thing that Eddie and Toxin have in common is that they both hate Venom — both the symbiote and the man. That solidifies their partnership to some degree.

New Mystery Series Coming From From Brian Wood And Oliver Coipel

This image was tweeted earlier by writer Brian Wood. The future of Marvel is XX? Coming this April is a new series from Brian Wood and Oliver Coipel. One would assume by the X’s that it’s a new X-title. But, we’ve been wrong before. Then again…does the DNA kind of give it away? An official announcement regarding the title will be made some time in the next month.

Phil Noto Taking Over Art Duties On Thunderbolts

Not a fan of the art on the new Thunderbolts title? Well, don’t worry because starting in March the title will see a new artist. Phil Noto (Uncanny X-Force) will be taking over with issue #7 this March. Will he be bring new life to the title or just Frank Castle’s sex life? [via IGN]

So, while everyone is busy looking back at 2012 (it’s in the past guys!), here at Geekscape we’re looking forward to the future! While we may not yet have hoverboards or robot butlers, there are still plenty of good things coming this year.

13. Geekscape Goes Live!

Starting this week Geekscape goes live. Yep, you heard (read) that right. Now, not only do you get a weekly podcast but from here on out you’ll get a live show where you can call in and talk to us. We’ve got plenty of awesome guests coming next year so stay tuned to this site to see just who will be on the show. Oh, and don’t worry, Jonathan won’t be the only one on air.

12. Big Doc Of The Dead Announcements

We can’t tell you what they are yet. But we’ve got some big Doc Of The Dead announcements coming your way. Seriously, we can’t tell you yet.

11. Ni no Kuni’s Western Release

This one might be flying under most of your radars but we here at Geekscape are such big fans of both Level-5 (the Professor Layton series) and Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, etc.) that it has become hard for us to contain our excitement. Both the Nintendo DS and PS3 versions of the game have sold well in Japan, and when the PS3 version finally hits later this month we’ll be rushing to play this RPG version of a Hayao Miyazaki film. There’s no word on the DS version leaving to Japan but here’s to hoping that we’ll also see it soon.

10. The Superior Spider-Man

Already one of the most controversial stories from Marvel, this new era of Spider-Man shows quite a bit of promise and we’re pretty damn excited to see where writer Dan Slott takes it.  The first issue of Superior Spider-Man hits shelves next week and it’s definitely going to be at the top of our stacks. Well, most of us at least. Writer Shawn Madden already has three of the variant covers on hold.

9. The Conclusion Of “Death Of The Family”

One of the year’s biggest and best stories won’t conclude until February and we are on the edge of our seats wondering what’s going to happen next. Who is going to live? Who is going to die? Did Batgirl get her mothers finger on ice quick enough? How else will The Joker torture the Bat-family? While some of the New 52 may be disappointing the hell out of us, Scott Snyder has not failed to deliver and we can’t wait to see just how this story ends. Just…don’t kill Damian’s dog.

8. The Last Of Us

Want to get excited for a new IP? Watch this, watch this, and now you can’t wait. Not a PS3 owner? Buy one; Naughty Dog’s new game will be worth it.

The game was announced at the 2011 Spike VGA’s, and since that day (December 10th, 2011 to be exact), it’s been right at the top of my radar. It’s still tough for me to believe that The Last of Us is a current generation title. The game hits shelves (and my PS3) on May 7th, 2013.

7. Wondercon

Wondercon returns to Anaheim this year and Geekscape couldn’t be more excited. We’ll have surprise guests and announcements at the Geekscape booth and if last year is any indication, Wondercon in Southern California is shaping up to be the next big thing. Yes, it’s just a warm up to San Diego, but for people looking for something more manageable with more accessibility to creators and exclusives, Wondercon fits the bill. Plus, it’s still very, very much about comic books… and San Diego can’t really say that anymore.

6. The Walking Dead

After a strong end to a generally underwhelming second season, we really didn’t know what to expect when AMC’s The Walking Dead returned in the latter half of 2012. We certainly didn’t think we’d see 8 phenomenal episodes in a row, that’s for sure. Now that 2013 is upon us, we’re eagerly awaiting the second half of the season (beginning February 10th). Shit is about to hit the fan, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Not that those 8 episodes is all that The Walking Dead will be bringing us this year. A fourth season of the show was recently confirmed, a first person shooter is on its way via Activision, and let’s not forget 12 new issues of the phenomenal monthly comic by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard.

It’s going to be a great year for zombie fans. We just hope that we hear something from Telltale before 2013 is up!

5. Marvel & ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D.

If you say you’re not excited for Marvel bringing their cinematic universe to television, then we have to say that you’re out of your mind. With the return of Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson teamed up with Joss Whedon writing the pilot mixed with the endless possibilities of expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe even further every week, this may just be the television series we’re most looking forward to.

4. GTA V

Whoever said you can’t go home again obviously never lived in San Andreas, because GTA V is coming this spring (we’re betting the same Rockstar Games release window of late April) and with it comes the return of the greatest locale in any GTA game. We can’t wait to meet the crew, pull some heists, run over bystanders (who should know better by now), off-road it through the backwoods, para-glide, swim with sharks, pilot a sub and explore the world of GTA V. If there’s a game we’re looking forward to the most this year, this is it.

3. A Year Full Of Geektastic Movies

If you thought this year was a good year at the movies then you obviously haven’t been paying attention to next year’s line-up. We could easily make a list alone based on the releases that are coming to theaters with films such as Man Of Steel, Star Trek Into Darkness, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, The Wolverine, Pacific Rim, GI Joe: Retaliation, Thor: The Dark World, Evil Dead and many more. Oh, how many more there are.

2. San Diego Comic-Con

No matter how many awesome movies and videogames come out in May and June, our summers are always anchored by Geekscape’s yearly trip to SDCC in July and hanging at the Geekscape booth. And 2013 promises to be the best year yet, with the return of the Geekscape booth, tons of geek meetups, awesome exclusives to buy and breaking news about pretty much EVERYTHING. It’s Spring Break for Geeks and Geekscape is king of the beach. Specific Geekscape things that we’re looking forward to are the return of Shawn Madden’s Trivia contests for prizes, Shane O’Hare’s Brony Cosplay and making another year’s worth of friends!

1. Iron Man 3/The Start Of Marvel Studios “Phase Two”

Sure, we already covered the movies that would be hitting theaters. But when Marvel’s The Avengers  (aka the biggest movie of 2012) ended, we all wanted more. So, there’s no question as to why Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 got it’s own position at the top of our list. Lets be honest here and admit that we can’t wait to see Robert Downey Jr. suit back up again and begin Marvel Studios “Phase Two”. With Shane Black, the man behind Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout, in the directing chair and an all-star cast that includes Ben Kingsley as Iron Man’s arch-nemesis The Mandarin, this promises to not only be Tony Stark’s best cinematic outing but quite possibly Marvel Studios best as well.

Did we miss something that’s on your list? Do you think things should be in a different order? What do you mean you still haven’t read Amazing Spider-Man #700?! Sound off in the box below! As big a year as 2012 was, it looks like for us geeks, 2013 is set to be even bigger!

No long ago it was revealed that a Suicide Squad movie was in the works but there hasn’t been much word since then regarding the project. But now, while speaking with Collider, Dan Lin has revealed that there is already a script done for the film but we shouldn’t expect to see it go into production any time soon. Well, at least not until Warner Bros. gets done with bringing their major characters to the big screen.

“[Suicide Squad] has a script from Justin Marks,” says Lin. “But that is on a hold right now. I think Warner Brothers wants to finish their A-list stories first and then we’ll talk about stories like Suicide Squad.”

While it a bit of postitive news that there is indeed a script, it’s a little bit of a downer that we most likely won’t see this any time soon. Warner Bros. may want to get on this before Marvel decides to make a Thundebolts movie though. Just saying.

Upon Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm, questions arose regarding the current Star Wars comics that are currently being released by Dark Horse Comics. Would we continue to see the release of Star Wars comics through Dark Horse or would they cease after the contract with Lucasfilm ran out in 2013? Well, no big surprise here. Disney has decided to not renew that contract with Dark Horse and instead will return the titles to Marvel.

The Suits in the know have determined that no new contracts will be given to Dark Horse after the current ones expire. So all new projects after 2013 will be handled internally by Marvel.

It’s not known yet if titles will be worked into the regular line up, or will Marvel create a special branch of the company that deals with Star Wars. It’ll take a couple of years for the old deals to work there course, but the stories that Dark Horse have coming down the pipeline will be the last. And you can expect anything new from Marvel dealing with Star Wars to arrive around 2015.

I don’t think I’m going out on a limb in saying that we can definitely expect some Marvel Star Wars titles to be hitting shelves around 2015, which just so happens to be the same year that Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to be hitting theaters.

You’ll want to jump on this one quickly, who knows how long it’ll last!

Marvel’s popular mobile title Avengers Initiative released back in September to much fanfare. At its core, the title is an Infinity Blade clone with most of the depth removed. It does however, feature some great graphics, a decent storyline, and the tried and true, fun as hell Infinity Blade gameplay.

The game launched at the worthy price of $6.99, but now for a limited time, Avengers Initiative is on the App Store for FREE! The game just received a major update featuring Captain America, and is set to get even more characters and updates as time goes on.

It can’t get any cheaper than this folks. The game may have its issues, but it’s still a great time! While you’re at it, episode one of Telltale’s The Walking Dead is free too! Android users, the game is also on sale for you, but for $4.99.

Read our review here, download the game here, and let us know what you think!

Alright! It’s an Unexpected Journey Into Darkness! My almost complete thoughts on ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”! Why 48 fps doesn’t bother me! Are there really pacing issues? What IS the Geek Movie Of The Year? Star Trek Into Darkness gets a new trailer and 9 minutes… but what does it mean!?! Getting into comics? What should you read? ‘Adventure Time’ gets an awesome game! PLUS! Jonathan opens the FINAL issue of Nintendo Power! The sadness!

All the way back in September, Marvel and Wideload Games released a funky little game for mobile devices (well, iOS and Android anyways) called Avengers Initiative. We reviewed the title just a day after it released, and while it definitely had (and continues to have) room for improvements, it was a decent title at the right price.

Upon release, Wideload stated that subsequent DLC packs would be released for the game, furthering the plot while adding Avengers and other goodies. Today the first pack is available, all for the low, low price of free (as long as you’ve already purchased the game of course).

Captain America is now a playable character, but he isn’t the only thing that’s new. The change log points out plenty of other additions too:

– Optimized for iPad mini and iPad Retina display
– Added support for iPhone 5 resolution
– Captain America now fully playable, improve your skills with Captain America’s agile takedowns and tactical shield attacks
– Fight aboard the Hydracarrier against Taskmaster and the forces of Hydra.
– Go up against Hydra War Drones, Skrull, Hydra Brutes, and Taskmaster himself.
– Added new Hulk costumes, including Mr. Fixit
– Added new Captain America costumes, including WWII Super Soldier
– Added Russian language support
– Unlock new Marvel XP audio logs including Mockingbird’s undercover mission and new Captain America Awards
– Fixed Verizon iPhone 4 framerate bug
– General bug fixes

Sadly, the one feature that I really wanted is still strangely absent: iCloud Support. $6.99 puts the game on both my iPad and iPhone, but SAVES DON’T TRANSFER!

In any case, the update is free for existing players. If you’re interested in the game, you can try the lite version for free, and then get the paid version if you deem it worthy!

Played the Captain America update? What do you think?

It seems that another character from Peter Parker’s universe will be joining him on screen in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. According to the website of actor and stuntman Asim Ahmad, he has signed on to join the cast of the film in a supporting role as Professor Michael Morbius.

He apparently has also confirmed this news to writer Joe Keatinge, the writer behind the new ongoing Morbius: The Living Vampire series. The actor has had small roles in a numbver of films such as Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, The Expendables 2 and will also be appearing in next year’s Star Trek Into Darkness.

While the actor has signed on for the role of Morbius, this does not mean he will be transforming into a vampire in the film. As he has stated, it’s a supporting role and if you played the movie tie-in video game you would know that Morbius is an employee of Oscorp. We will be sure to keep you updated as more details arise.

Add one more comic book adaptation coming to theaters in 2015. 20th Century Fox already has The Wolverine and X-Men: Days Of Future Past on their way, and now they’ve set a release date for the their next big-screen Marvel adaptation. The Josh Trank (Chronicle) helmed reboot of Marvel’s First Family will be coming to theaters March, 6, 2015!

In addition to this release date, Fox has also announced that The Wolverine, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and the upcoming Percy Jackson sequel will all be released in 3D. The upcoming reboot is being penned by Jeremy Slater, who has promised a take on the franchise that the “fans deserve”. With a release date now set for the film and production to begin in 2014 (in order to keep the rights to the film), expect casting to begin even sooner than many had expected.

Yesterday, X-Men director Bryan Singer took to Twitter to not only announce that certain members of X-Men: First Class would be returning for the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, but also the announcement that both Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellan from the original X-Men films would be returning to their roles as Charles Xavier and Magneto. This all but confirmed what fans have been speculating about ever since Days of Future Past was announced, that the forthcoming movie would be taking place in two timelines–the one featuring characters from First Class, and another “future” (or present) timeline featuring the actors from the original films. As Singer remarked on his twitter feed, “more to come.” This means it is very likely that more actors from the original films will be suiting up soon for mutant action once more. But who? Here are my guesses as to who will be coming back (and who won’t) and why.

Oh, and before anyone chimes in with “but Cyclops and Jean and Prof. X  died in X-Men 3, and Magneto lost his powers, yadda yadda yadda” it seems very, very likely that the time traveling storyline of Days of Future Past will end up erasing the events of X-Men: The Last Stand. The fact that both the older Charles Xavier and Magneto are in this one kind of already seems to be pointing towards that, considering their fates at the end of that third film. It seems Bryan Singer is eager to erase the one chapter of the original X-Men trilogy he had no part in. So I don’t think any character deaths or de-powerings in that movie should factor as to whether a certain actor or character returns. With that out of the way, let’s get started on the guessing game, shall we?

Wolverine/Hugh Jackman

I’d say this is one is a no-brainer. Wolverine is the poster boy for not only the comic book franchise, but the movie franchise as well. He’s not my favorite X-Man by any means, but facts are facts…. for the masses, Wolverine = X-Men. Unlike so many actors who distance themselves from the part that made them famous, Jackman seems to love being Wolverine, and doesn’t seem to ever tire of playing him. He is currently filming his second solo outing The Wolverine, and could easily stay in Logan-mode (and in Logan shape) for a few extra months and segue into filming Days of Future Past. Of all the characters from the original films, I expect to see his face in the line-up more than anyone else, barring any unforseen circumstances.

Odds for Returning: 9/10

EDIT: Make that 10/10…no sooner than an hour or so from posting this piece, the Hollywood Reporter makes it official: Hugh Jackman is coming back as Wolverine. That sure didn’t take long.

Cyclops/James Marsden

Of all the A-List X-Men characters, no one got the shorter end of the stick in the film series than poor Scott Summers, AKA Cyclops. This is not a negative reflection on actor James Marsden, who did the best he could in what little he was given to do. When he was unceremoniously killed off in X-Men: The Last Stand, fans were furious, as they were hoping the third X-Men movie would finally be his moment to shine. And from everything I’ve been told, that WAS his original plan, back when Singer was still working on X3, as James Marsden and Bryan Singer are good friends. In fact, Marsden even had a part in Singer’s Superman Returns, which is why he was said to be killed off in such a stupid offhand way in The Last Stand; Marsden made the mistake of being in a competing super hero movie with the fired director of X-Men, and Fox made sure he paid the price. I could see Singer making Days of Future Past partially as “the redemption of Cyclops” and restoring the character to a prominent position in the X-Men universe again.

Odds for Returning: 7/10

Jean Grey/Famke Janssen

Another main character from the franchise who totally got the shaft story-wise in X-Men: The Last Stand was Jean Grey. The less said about how that movie handled the classic X-Men story The Dark Phoenix Saga the better, but it seems Famke is at least open to returning, as she made some comments about coming back to the series as recently as a month ago. When being asked if she had been offered a role already in Days of Future Past, she replied “One never knows. Jean Grey, the Phoenix … she finds a way to reincarnate herself constantly, so one never knows… but I’m in no position to say anything,” And then coyly added “Stay tuned.” Sounds like maybe spelled Y-E-S to me.

Odds for Returning: 8/10

Rogue/Anna Paquin

Actress Anna Paquin has been pretty vocal about how much she hated the plotline where Rogue takes the mutant cure in X-Men The Last Stand, seeing it as a betrayal of everything the mutant metaphor is supposed to represent (Anna, all of fandom agrees with you) If this movie corrects some of those mistakes, she might jump at the chance to come back. On the downside, Paquin just gave birth to twins and still has at least one more season of True Blood to start shooting very soon, which might conflict with being able to make an appearance in  Days of Future Past. But who knows, she might be able to squeeze in a cameo if she wants to bad enough. Maybe Anna could bring some of the sassy southern attitude she gives her True Blood character Sookie Stackhouse to Rogue, a character that in the comics has plenty of that to spare.

Odds for Returning: 6/10

Storm/Halle Berry

It has been well documented how much Halle Berry and Bryan Singer did NOT get along on the set of X2.  I believe the phrase “you can kiss my black ass” was uttered on set by her at least once in reference to Singer. (For reals, look it up.) She never even wanted to be in the X-Men series in the first place, as during press before the movie came out she mentioned how there were so little roles for black actresses she was “forced to do a comic book movie.” Of course, then the X-Men franchise became the biggest thing she was ever involved with and she shut her mouth pretty quick. But point blank: Halle doesn’t really like playing Storm, the fans don’t like her playing Storm, and Bryan Singer doesn’t like her playing Storm (his original choice was Angela Bassett) So I’d be genuinely shocked if we saw her in this movie. And no one will care if she’s replaced, which has to sting a little for Miss Berry. My honest to goodness feeling is we’ll see a younger Storm in the First Class timeline, but that adult Storm will be dead in the future timeline. But Fox may want her back in, seeing as she’s still a name actress, so I guess anything is possible. But I’m not holding my breath.

Odds for Returning: 2/10

Nightcrawler/Alan Cumming

Add another to the list of “probably nots” – Much like Halle Berry, Alan Cumming has been pretty vocal about how horrible a time he had shooting X2, and how he and Singer did not get along on set. A couple of years back, when asked about Singer, he had this to say: “I can’t deny I think he’s really talented, and I’m really proud of the film (X2) – I think it’s a great film – but I didn’t enjoy working with him on it.” Considering how Nightcrawler was just in the one X-Men film, he’s not crucial to the overall story. It is possible that the character of Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler might make an appearance, but I highly doubt it will be Cumming wearing the blue make-up if he does.

Odds for Returning: 1/10

Mystique/Rebecca Romijn

We already know that Jennifer Lawrence is coming back as Mystique, a character she could easily play in both the past and future timelines. (She is a shape-shifter after all.) Add to that, Rebecca Romijn has been pretty candid about not really wanting to be naked and painted blue anymore. She has a good relationship with Singer and the producers, so I could see her making a cameo as her normal looking self much like the one she had in First Class, but that would be about it.

Odds for Returning: 7/10 (but only as a non made-up cameo)

Beast/Kelsey Grammer

We also already know that the character of Hank McCoy in the First Class timeline will make an appearance in the form of Nicolas Hoult, but what about his future adult self? I personally think that it is not very likely, if only for all the personal problems and bad headlines that Kelsey Grammer has had recently. Fox might want to avoid that particular celebrity train-wreck. Also, as with Ellen Page and Ben Foster, he only appeared in The Last Stand, so has no previous working relationship with Singer. So I see adult Beast as being pretty unlikely to show up.

Odds for Returning: 2/10

Kitty Pryde/Ellen Page

When Ellen Page shot X-Men the Last Stand, she had only one notable role to her name, the thriller Hard Candy. Not too long after The Last Stand came out, she hit it big with Juno, then came roles in Inception etc. She probably doesn’t want to come back to a relatively smallish role in the X-verse at this point in her career, and having only been in the third X-Men movie, she doesn’t have a pre-established working relationship with director Bryan Singer either, similar to Kelsey Grammer. So much like Nightcrawler, we might see the character of Kitty in some form, but I’m not counting on it being Page. Which would be a shame, as she was one of the few highlights from the third X-Men movie.

Odds for Returning: 3/10

Ice-Man/Shawn Ashmore

Shawn Ashmore went from cameo role as Bobby Drake/Ice-Man in the original X-Men to a pretty sizable role in X2, and I believe he is also personal friends with Bryan Singer. For this reason alone I could see him coming back in some capacity, even if it is just a cameo.

Odds for Returning: 6/10

Angel/Ben Foster

Angel was another major X-Men character who was totally squandered by X-Men The Last Stand. Played by Ben Foster, he’s another one that continues to have a career as a working actor and doesn’t need to come back to the franchise just to pay bills. And, also like Ellen Page and Kelsey Grammer, he was only in the third film so therefore doesn’t have any prior working relationship, good or bad, with Bryan Singer. Expect him to be among the missing or dead in the dystopian Sentinel-run world of the future X-Men.

Odds for Returning: 2/10

Gambit/Taylor Kitsch

Taylor Kitsch had a part in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and as awful as that flick was, I thought he was more or less ok in it as Cajun mutant Gambit. Unfortunately, since then Taylor Kitsch has had two very high profile flops to his name, John Carter and Battleship. I think the producers of Days of Future Past will wish to avoid this bad luck charm.

Odds for Returning: 1/10

Juggernaut/Vinnie Jones

Yeah….nope. Don’t think so. That’s all I gotta say about that one.

Odds for Returning: 0/10

The next few weeks and months should be very telling on just how right or wrong I was with these guesses. Anyone else want to chime in with who you think is a sure thing to come back, and who doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in Hell? Leave a comment below.

Brett Dalton (Army Wives) is the latest cast addition to Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot. Dalton will play “Agent Grant” in the ABC pilot, who is being described as “one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s highly-skilled rising stars – he’s deadly, precise, and cool under fire — but not so great with the people skills”.

The series will focus on the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. Dalton will be joining Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge in the Joss Whedon helmed pilot for the series.

Better hurry to your local comic shop and pick up a copy before they sell out. Writer Dan Slott has been stating that retailers didn’t order enough copies of the issue, and now we’ve learned that he was definitely right. Marvel has announced that The Amazing Spider-Man #698 has sold out and is now going into a second printing.

“The end of Spider-Man’s world begins when Doctor Octopus discovers who Peter Parker really is. This is the beginning of the end to this fifty year run and you will want to see the secret that will change everything! So don’t miss the most talked about comic of the year, returning to store shelves in just a few weeks with Amazing Spider-Man #698 Second Printing Variant!”

This is definitely an issue that will be talked about for quite some time. Do yourselves a favor and go pick up a copy as soon as possible.

Better late than never right?

EW today released some new info regarding the highly anticipated Phase One box set. The fantastic looking bundle was originally set to release back in September, but was delayed due to a lawsuit over the case design.

We now have a new release date for the 10-disc set (featuring a slightly different looking briefcase), and while it’s still months away, I can’t help but get excited. New pre-orders are set to start later today, while the set will be available on April 2nd (just 133 more days).

The set will also include additional content that would not have been there had it hit shelves on time including never before seen clips, and a Phase Two preview featuring “footage, concept art, and a few new surprises.”

I’m in. How about you?
