Briefly: These past few days have brought nearly nothing newsworthy to the table (and also the most newsworthy piece all year), but an excellent fan film based on this year’s Tomb Raider reboot has just debuted online, and it’s definitely worth the price of admission (free)!

Directed by Trevor Addie, and starring Cassandra Ebner, Liam Carter, Devyn Dalton, Nickolas Baric, Shaw Madson, and Brad Friesen, in Croft, a woman will risk everything to save a young girl held hostage in the mountains by a group of mercenaries.

You played Tomb Raider, right (if not, it is going next-gen next month)? So you probably know how things will turn out (bad-ass). In any case, take a look at Croft below, and let us know what you think!

I’d advise that you read nothing about David Sandberg’s Kung Fury before watching the campaign’s Kickstarter video. You can thank me later.

Yep, you actually just watched that, and you loved every second of it.

Since you’ve seen the video, I don’t need to explain that “KUNG FURY is an over-the-top action comedy written and directed by David Sandberg,” or that it “features: arcade-robots, dinosaurs, nazis, vikings, norse gods, mutants and a super kung fu-cop called Kung Fury, all wrapped up in an 80s style action packed adventure.”

I’m just about to log in to Kickstarter and donate myself; if you’re a fan of things that are awesome, I’d recommend that you do the same. As always, there are some incredible rewards up for grabs, including Blu Rays, T-Shirts, posters, signed items, producer credits, or even a role in the film.

Again, David is looking for a cool $200,000 to complete the 30-minute film and release it for free online. According to the campaign page, the funds raised will be used to:

With the kickstarter funding we’ll hire a team of 7 visual effects artists who will work closely with David Sandberg on the post-production for a period of 6 months to complete the film. Pretty much every shot in this film requieres some form of visual effects treatment so there’s a lot of work to be done. Apart from creating all the environments digitally, there’s a lot of CG animated characters such as dinosaurs and robots that requires talented people and lots of time. To hire these artists we need to be able to pay them a decent salary. Money will also go to hire an exceptional artist to create the artwork for the movie poster. It will have that classic, illustrated 80s style that you rarely see anymore. Costs will also go to the rewards, such as printing costs for posters and stickers, t-shirts, blu-rays etc.

There you have it. Kung Fury needs to happen, and its fate and future lay in our hands. You know what to do.

Briefly: Here’s an awesome holiday treat for The Legend of Zelda fans.

Jared Potter, the same talented creator that brought us the impressive Bioshock: New Year’s End fan film is back again, and this time he’s taking on the creepiest character from the Legend of Zelda series: Skull Kid.

Potter shows viewers a Zelda world like they have never seen recreated through stunning visual effects. In the video, Skull Kid, a harmless but troublesome imp, has been cast out of the city of Clocktown. Deep within the lost woods, he must face the harsh realities of his banishment. There, amongst the trees, an ancient evil has also begun to stir, seeking out a creature suitable to become its puppet. Us fans will recognize many of the scenes in the short, especially the awesome ending.

Take a look at The Skull Kid below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: We saw the first teaser for The Raid 2: Berandal early last month, and now we know just when we’ll be able to see the feature.

Sony Pictures Classics today revealed that the film will release on March 28th, 2014.

The Raid (or The Raid: Redemption, whatever floats your boat) was one of 2011′s most surprising, most brutal, and most loved action films. If you haven’t seen it, I’d highly suggest taking the day off of work, and doing so immediately.

Take a second look at the first teaser below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the sequel!

Briefly: In the wake of Paul Walker’s tragic death just a few weeks ago, the seventh chapter in the Fast and the Furious series was put on an indefinite hold, and if rumours can be believed, nearly cancelled completely.

Series star and Paul’s close friend, Vin Diesel, revealed on his official Facebook page an image from the final scene that the pair shot together, and also announced the new release date for the film. Here is the text in full:

The last scene we filmed together…

There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we’ve come…

Fast and Furious 7 will be released…

April 10th 2015!

P.s. He’d want you to know first…

There you have it. The film hasn’t been cancelled (which director James Wan had already announced), and instead has moved from its original release date of July 11, 2014 to April 10th, 2015. Take a look at the image Diesel shared below, and let us know your thoughts on the change.

Briefly: Are you ready for a little déjà vu before the end of the year?

Marvel just officially revealed that Vin Diesel is Groot in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy… even though Diesel kinda let it slip himself all the way back in August of this year.

The announcement offered no new revelations about the film, but did offer a sweet photo of Diesel next to our first official look at the character he’ll be voicing. Take a look at the photo below, and let us know what you think!

Guardians of the Galaxy hits theatres on August 1, 2014!

Briefly: After two days of interesting teasers (check them out here and here), Paramount has finally released the first theatrical trailer for The Dark Knight Rises cinematographer Wally Pfister’s directorial debut, Transcendence.

The trailer sets up an extremely intriguing plot for the film, and as expected from Pfister, everything looks gorgeous. The all-star cast of Johnny Depp, Kate Mara, Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Cillian Murphy, and plenty of others look well used in the picture, and I really can’t wait to see more of this.

Transcendence hits theatres on April 17th, and it’s definitely one to watch out for. Take a look at the preview below, and let us know what you think!

Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him.

However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can… but if they should.

Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.

Briefly: Just yesterday we showed you the first two teasers for The Dark Knight Rises cinematographer Wally Pfister’s directorial debut, Transendence, and today a third teaser has appeared online.

This teaser features a voiceover from actress Kate Mara, and plays off as much more of a warning than yesterday’s videos. Take a look at the teaser below, and let us know what you think!

Transcendence stars Johnny Depp, Kate Mara, Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Cillian Murphy, and plenty of others, and hits theatres on April 18th, 2014!

Briefly: All the way back in January, X-Men: Days of Future Past director Brian Singer revealed that Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore would reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel.

Sadly, one of those characters has been cut from the film.

Singer today revealed that a rescue scene shot early in production (during Paquin’s only week on the project, and her only scene in the film) has been left on the cutting-room floor. Singer states:

“Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”

Of course, it had nothing to do with Paquin herself, and Singer would love to work with the actress again:

“She did a fantastic job. She was awesome in the sequence. She’s a brilliant actress. I would work with her in a heartbeat. She completely understood. It’s very disappointing, but she’s very professional and she knows that stuff happens, particularly with material you shoot early on in production. Films evolve.”

What do you think of the cut? Were you looking forward to seeing Paquin reprise her role? Sound out below!

Briefly: We’re just a few months away from the release of José Padilha’s anticipated Robocop remake, and Digital Spy has tracked down six new images from the film.

The stills include a new look at Murphy’s motorcycle, Michael Keaton looking’ evil, and a lot of weaponry. Take a look at everything below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to this one! Robocop hits theatres on February 12th!

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

Briefly: We’re finally just 13 days away from Community‘s celebrated return to television, marking Dan Harmon’s comeback to the series, as well as meaning that we’re just one season (and a movie) away from the series’ end goal.

Every trailer so far (here and here) has been absolutely wonderful, and this newly-released animated short is no different. The Christmas-themed video also helps to explain NBC’s odd scheduling of the show, including its premiere on the day that many will be travelling home from Christmas break, as well as a three-week break for the Olympics.

Take a look at the short below, and let us know just how excited you are for Community‘s triumphant return.

Briefly: There’s just five days to go until The Time of the Doctor finally airs, and Matt Smith is no longer our doctor.

BBC has debuted a new, longer trailer for the special (watch the previous teaser here), and just as before, everything looks great. Seriously, I can’t wait to ignore whatever family gathering I happen to be at when 8pm rolls around, and watch the magic happen on BBC instead.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and as always, let us know what you think!

Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars – and amongst them, the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.

Briefly: Warner Bros. today debuted the first two teaser trailers for The Dark Knight Rises cinematographer Wally Pfister’s directorial debut, Transcendence.

Today is actually the first time I’d heard of the film, but it’s easy to see from the teasers below (as well as the official plot synopsis) that Transendence is definitely one to watch out for. Take a look at everything below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Again, there are SPOILERS below. You’ve been warned.

The mid-season finale of The Walking Dead was the episode that we’ve all been waiting for for some time now. It’s what every viewer was hoping for at the end of season three, and even though it came much later than we all wanted it to, it was worth the wait.

As you know (because you’ve watched the episode), many characters met an end during the finale, including that evil bastard, The Governor. AMC today launched a new video featuring the show’s cast and crew, paying tribute to the series’ most powerful villain.

Take a look at the tribute below, and let us know what you think of season four so far! The Walking Dead returns on February 9th!

Briefly: We learned only yesterday that Paul Rudd had entered negotiations with Marvel to play Ant-Man in the upcoming Edgar Wright film.

Now, Marvel has officially announced that Rudd has signed on for the film.

In a post of Marvel.com, producer Kevin Feige stated that “When Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star. We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we’d ever met with about doing the work, we knew we’d found the right guy. We couldn’t be more excited for our audiences to see what he’s going to do to bring Ant-Man to life.”

Ant-Man hits theatres on July 31st, 2015. Do you think that Rudd is the right choice for the part? Or would you rather have seen another actor in the role? Sound out below!

Briefly: The gang’s all here.

Lionsgate today debuted the very first teaser trailer for next year’s The Expendables 3. The teaser reveals nothing about the film aside from its stellar, gigantic (physically and in numbers) cast, but it’s still freaking bad-ass.

Harrison Ford, of course, has joined the crew, and so have a few other new faces (and plenty of returning old dudes). Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! The Expendables 3 hits theatres on August 15th, 2014!

In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

Briefly: Dreamworks has just debuted a new poster for Scott Waugh’s Need for Speed, which hits theatres on March 14th, and actually looks pretty rad for a video-game movie (check out the latest trailer here if you haven’t).

I’ll watch anything with Aaron Paul in it, so I’m definitely down for this one. Take a look at the poster below, and let us know if you’ll be checking out Need For Speed!

NeedForSpeed

Based on the most successful racing video game franchise ever with over 140 million copies sold, DreamWorks Pictures’ “Need for Speed” captures the thrills of the game in a real-world setting. An exciting return to the great car-culture films of the 1960s and ’70s, when authenticity brought a new level of intensity to the action, “Need for Speed” taps into what makes the American myth of the open road so enticing.

The story chronicles a near-impossible cross-country race against time—one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption. In a last attempt to save his struggling garage, blue-collar mechanic Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul)—who with his team skillfully builds and races muscle cars on the side—reluctantly partners with wealthy, arrogant ex-NASCAR driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). Just as a major sale to car broker Julia Bonet (Imogen Poots) looks like it will save the business, a disastrous, unsanctioned race results in Dino framing Tobey for manslaughter.

Two years later and fresh out of prison, Tobey is set on revenge with plans to take down Dino in the high-stakes De Leon race—the Super Bowl of underground racing. To get there in time, Tobey must run a high-octane, action-packed gauntlet, dodging cops coast-to-coast and dealing with fallout from a dangerous bounty Dino put on his car. With his loyal crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia as allies, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic supercars, the underdog can still finish first.

Briefly: Edgar Wright may have found his Hank Pym.

Back in October it was rumoured that both Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd were on the short list to play the character in Wright’s next film, Ant-Man.

Now that JGL has moved on to Sandman, it seems as though Marvel has shifted its focus towards Rudd, who The Wrap today confirmed has landed the role and is now in early negotiations with the studio.

We’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date on the situation, as well as let you know when the official announcement is made. Are you looking forward to the film? Are you happy with the casting? Sound out below!

Briefly: The release date was revealed just last week, and now it’s finally here! Hail to the King is now available to watch in its entirety on Machinima Happy Hour!

Now, it’s been a number of years since I’ve listened to Avenged Sevenfold, but with an animation giant like Jon Schnepp attached to the project, I’ll be watching Hail to the King immediately. The series goes hand-in-hand with the band’s upcoming mobile video game Hail to the King: Deathbat, which is due out in early 2014. As singer M Shadows says: “The animated series tells the story ‘before’ the game takes place. When the series ends, the game picks up.”

You can watch all six episodes below, and be sure to let us know what you think! Don’t forget to check out Schnepp’s current Kickstarter campaign, Unicrom: The Unicorn Barbarian!

From the creative minds of Avenged Sevenfold, one of rock music’s global heavyweights and a trailblazing force in fusing the worlds of music and video games, Hail To The King is a six-episode animated series, which is directed by Metalocalypse producer Jon Schnepp. The unique and innovative series tells the fictional story of the Deathbat – the band’s longtime trademark, and serves as the prologue to their highly anticipated mobile video game, “Hail to the King: Deathbat.” Accompanying the launch of the series will be a trailer for the game, which will be available early 2014.

Briefly: Sony has just debuted a new teaser poster for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The image states that “His greatest battle begins,” making me wonder just how many battle’s he’s had… before realizing that the answer is “just one.”

In any case, it’s a pretty cool poster (but not as cool as that actually good international trailer from last week). Take a look at it below, and let us know what you think!

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Briefly: Disney Interactive today officially announced Star Wars: Attack Squadrons, a “free-to-play online space combat game where players customize iconic Star Wars™ ships and engage in high-velocity 16 player dogfights in fabled Star Wars locations.”

The reveal trailer doesn’t actually show off any gameplay, so we’re not entirely sure what the game looks like or how it plays, but could you imagine a 16-player Rogue Squadron style space-combat game? Wouldn’t that be incredible!

The game is currently without a release date, but you can head here to sign up for the beta. Take a look at the first trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be trying Star Wars: Attack Squadrons when it releases!

Briefly: It’s a movie that I’ve never heard of (and can’t seem to find much information on), but the first trailer for Paramounts Welcome To Yesterday has just hit the web, and it actually looks pretty cool.

According to the IMDb description of the film, in Welcome To Yesterday “A group of teens discover secret plans of a time machine, and construct one. However, things start to get out of control.” It’s a pretty vague plot description, but the trailer looks like a lot of fun (while also being completely generic).

The film mixes the idea of time travel with the found-footage style that’s all too common these days. It’s found footage as we’ve never seen it however, so colour me intrigued! Take a look at the film’s first trailer below, and let us know what you think! Welcome To Yesterday hits theatres in 2014!

Briefly: Techland has debuted another Dying Light gameplay video, this time focussing on all of the terrible things that can (and do) happen after the Sun goes down.

It’s easy to see from this new video (and the previously released ones) that this game is coming together nicely. I was a big fan of Techland’s previous effort, Dead Island, and Dying Light is currently one of my most anticipated titles of 2014.

Slow, apathetic, and easily visible, the infected are not much of a threat in daylight. A skilled courier, sure of their parkour skills and smart enough not to engage in combat with too many enemies, can effortlessly avoid larger groups of the infected or escape beyond their reach. But this relatively safe state of affairs is turned upside down as the sun sets!

At night, it is you who is at a disadvantage. Without daylight, the senses of the infected become more acute while their thirst for human flesh skyrockets. They run, jump, and climb, so there is really no place where you are safe anymore. They grow in strength, which means fighting them is not even an option. Those of them who were too afraid of light to come out during the day now swarm the city hunting for you. Still, there is something even worse lurking in the shadows…

Sounds creepy, right? Take a look at the newest video below, and let us know if you’re excited! Dying Light is set to release sometime in 2014!

Briefly: Well this is a surprise.

The 1996 classic, Tomb Raider (which I now barely remember as I was just six years old the first time I played it) has just launched on the iOS App Store for $.99!

I immediately picked up the title (which weighs in at a cool 280MB), and it feels about as well as I could imagine this game playing on a touchscreen. Tomb Raider launched well before the original Dual Shock controller did, remember, so instead of dual faux-thumbsticks, you’ll be relying on the classic, clunky-as-hell Resident-Evil style controls. The game also supports the newfangled iOS controllers (including the MOGA Ace Power and the Logitech PowerShell, which I haven’t seen in stores yet but would totally pick up), which I can only imagine would make things a lot easier.

screen568x568

The game is old and tough, and the graphics are beyond-awful compared to AAA mobile titles of today, but it’s a nostalgic blast that shouldn’t be overlooked, and especially not for $1. Take a look at Square-Enix’s release notes below, and head here to download the game!

We’re going back to where it all began for one of the most famous video game characters of all time – Lara Croft – with the release of her very first adventure! That’s right, Tomb Raider I is now available for your iPad and iPhone in all its original (and challenging!) glory.

We’ve not messed about with it, so it’s the full, unedited, unadulterated experience from the classic release at a super-low price. How better to find out if you’ve still got what it takes to beat a legendary game than by taking on the lost city of Atlantis and the pyramids of Egypt? It’s probably not for the faint of heart!

The game includes two extra chapters that were included in the game’s 1998 re-release, giving you a total play time of around 15 hours. Also supports game controllers such as the MOGA Ace Power and the Logitech PowerShell.

Here’s some story info:

Adventurer Lara Croft has been hired to recover the pieces of an ancient artefact known as the Scion. With her fearless acrobatic style she runs, jumps, swims and climbs her way towards the truth of its origin and powers – leaving only a trail of empty tombs and gun-cartridges in her wake. On this trail are breath-taking 3D worlds where exploration, puzzle and platform elements blend in a seamless real-time environment. A perfect chance for newcomers and diehards alike to jump back into the series’ seminal single-player action.

•Epic Exploration – The lost city of Atlantis and ancient Egyptian pyramids are ripe for discovery: explore every hidden dark crevice and impossible heights; enter into strange, undiscovered lands and solve their deepest, darkest mysteries; open doors to new realms, uncover great rewards and unearth secrets to Lara’s past.

•Acrobatic Gunplay – Deftly leap around charging enemies while you unleash a hail of bullets from your trademark dual pistols.

•Combat Lethal Predators – The wilderness awaits with a wide range of enemies from bears to wolves, intriguing Atlantean centaurs and the terrifying T-Rex.

Briefly: Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed IV: Freedom Cry all the way back in October (before Assassin’s Creed IV even launched), and has just released the launch trailer for the expansive single-player DLC.

Freedom Cry tells the story of born slave Adewale. Adewale eventually found freedom as a pirate aboard the Jackdaw, where he became Edward Kenway’s second-in-command. Now, 15 years later, Adewale has become a trained Assassin who finds himself shipwrecked in Saint-Domingue without weapons or crew. He starts to meet locals in an effort to assemble a crew and steal a ship. The more he helps, however, the more he is drawn into the Maroon slave community. Forced to face his past, Adewale sets out to free the slaves and bring death to their captors.

Sounds neat, huh? Freedom Cry brings an entirely new single-player story to the already gigantic game. Take a look at the launch trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be grabbing the DLC when it releases tomorrow!

Briefly: Could a film adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman finally be happening?

Deadline has reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in final talks, not only to produce, but to potentially direct and star in Warner Bros. adaptation of the revered comic series. The film would be based on a script by The Dark Knight screenwriter David Goyer, who has apparently finally cracked the code to get the film out of development hell.

Gordon-Levitt later tweeted the following, confirming that the film is indeed happening, and that he is indeed attached to it in some way:

We’ll be sure to let you know when we hear more on this one. Are you keen with the idea of an adaptation? Do you think that Gordon-Levitt has the skills to pull it off? Sound out below!

Briefly: Sony Pictures today debuted the first red band trailer for 22 Jump Street.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller return to direct the sequel to the 2012 film (which was a lot funnier than I was expecting, and ended up being one of the most hilarious films of the year). 22 Jump Street takes Jenko and Schmidt to college, and I cannot wait to see what happens when they get there.

Take a look at the hilarious trailer below, and let us know what you think! 22 Jump Street hits theatres on June 13th, 2014!

After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership.  Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.

Briefly: The first trailer for Traveller’s Tales’ Lego The Hobbit has just debuted online.

The game, which was revealed late last month, takes “players of all ages on an unforgettable interactive journey through the first two films in The Hobbit Trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug.”

According to Traveller’s Tales’, “Players will follow Bilbo Baggins as he is recruited by the Wizard Gandalf to aid Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves. Bilbo leaves the comforts of the Shire on a journey through Middle-earth to help the Dwarves reclaim their lost Kingdom of Erebor within the Lonely Mountain. Along the way, he is introduced to ravenous Trolls, dangerous Orcs and, of course, Gollum and his precious Ring. Players will utilize and combine the Dwarves’ unique abilities — often with hilarious results — to solve the most diverse Quests of any LEGO videogame to date.”

All of the Lego titles in the past have been an absolute blast, and I can’t wait to see how Middle Earth turns out. The announcement does leave a few questions unanswered however. First, is there a second game on its way to complete the story? And second, how does a Lego man wear a ring?

Take a look at the first trailer below, and let us know what you think! Lego The Hobbit will launch on PS Vita, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, 3DS, and Windows sometime in 2014!

Briefly: Minecraft is finally coming to PS3.

The game, which just hit an incredible 30 million copies sold, will release on December 17th (tomorrow!) in North America, and December 18th in Europe. Here’s the official announcement, straight from Mojang:

Christmas is coming early, PS3 players!

We can now confirm that Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition will be available to download this Wednesday, December 18th from the Playstation Store (if you’re based in the EU). Expect it to cost about the same as the Xbox 360 version.

I’ve received a few questions about the launch of Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition from you guys, so here are some of the most common queries:

Does Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition feature everything from the other versions of Minecraft?
Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition comes with everything present in other console versions. They’re pretty-much identical to play, and will be developed in tandem from now on.

Will Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition feature DLC texture packs and skins?
Downloadable skins and texture packs will be available from PlayStation Store soon after release.

Will there be Sony-specific content?
Sony-specific skins and texture packs would be cool! Fingers crossed, eh?

Will Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition feature Remote Play/compatibility with the Vita/PS4 editions?
We don’t know yet, sorry. We’ll let you know as soon as we do.

Will there be a day-one patch for Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition?
Yes! We recommend you download it!

Does Herobrine feature in Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition?
Probably not.

That’s it for now. We hope you’re just as excited about playing Minecraft on PS3 as we are. Merry Christmas/Nadolig LLawen!

I sure hope that when the Vita/PS4 editions finally hit, they’ll have cross-buy support!
