Briefly: Free on Tuesday? You should definitely check this out. It’s for a great cause, and should be entertaining as hell!

Machinima has announced its 2nd Annual “Pro vs. GI Joe” Charity Livestream, taking place on Tuesday, December 17 on Twitch.tv/Machinima and MachinimaLive.com. The live event will feature pro-gamers and Machinima talent playing video games against active duty military personnel, with the goal of raising awareness and money for the important military charity, Pro vs. GI Joe.

For the second year in a row, Machinima is working with the “Pro vs GI Joe” charity, which traditionally pairs active-duty troops with professional athletes for simul-cast play. In Machinima’s case, troops will be paired with professional gamers – including tag-team hosts APL Fisher and Lester along with Fwiz, SkyDoesMinecraft, and Freddie Wong — and Machinima in-house talent.

Here’s what Machinima had to say about the upcoming event:

Last year, for the first time, more American troops died from suicide than combat.

This year, this terrifying epidemic was reduced by 22% – a relief, to be sure – but we’re still not out of the woods. Now more than ever, good morale should be the priority of a healthy military. December 17th at Machinima, we’ve paired up with Universal Pictures and Pro vs GI Joe, a non-profit organization committed to bringing good-natured distraction to troops stationed around the world, as well as veterans returning home.

Traditionally pairing troops with professional athletes, they’ve been simulcasting friendly tournaments of Call of Duty since 2007- and have a been a huge hit with service men and women.

We’ll be joined by your favorite Pro-Gamers and YouTubers, as well as in-house favorites APLFisher, Fwiz and Dunkus – as they take on the latest CoD: Ghosts maps with troops stationed in Kandahar, Marmal and Shindand Afghanistan, LIVE from 1 – 4p. We’ll also have veterans in the studio, as well as injured and retired Army snipers on Skype, to answer all our viewer’s questions about what combat is really like.

Do some good today! If you have a spare moment, please tune in to Twitch.tv/Machinima, and/or donate what you can!
Any amount is truly appreciated!

If you’re interested in donating, head here and give whatever you can! Pro vs. GI Joe is a non-profit doing truly amazing things for our troops, wounded vets and their families. Briefly: Paramount has chosen the perfect day to release this teaser, seeing as China just landed on the moon (the first country to do so since 1976).

The first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar has just hit the web. The trailer is as teaser-y as possible, not revealing any of the film’s plot (or actors outside of Matthew McConaughey, but instead focussing on the once prominent (but now all but lost) idea of breaking barriers, aiming higher, discovering space and furthering the knowledge of our species. It states that “we count these moments as our proudest achievements,” yet we’ve lost the will to try again.

It’s short, sweet, and a pretty powerful two minute teaser. It’ll definitely leave you desperate for more, so hopefully we see more marketing for Interstellar sooner than later.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Interstellar hits theatres on November 7th, 2014.

Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

Briefly: It seems like we just can’t get enough The Amazing Spider-Man today! First, two spinoff films were announced (head here for that one), and now a new international trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has hit the web, and it’s substantially better than the domestic trailer released earlier this week.

This trailer gives us more of everything. We get a better look at all of the film’s villains (and the Green Goblin STILL looks dumb), see more interaction between Peter and Aunt May than we saw in the entire first film, and even Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacey gets a (cute) line in. This preview leaves me a little more hopeful for the full feature than the earlier trailer did, and as always, that suit looks bad-ass in motion.

Take a look at the international trailer below, and let us know what you think! The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theatres on May 2nd!

http://youtu.be/HMH_ODfuAXg

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Briefly: The mother of dragons is now the mother of John Connor.

That’s right. Game of Thrones Emilia Clarke has just been cast in Alan Taylor’s Terminator reboot as Sarah Connor.

This is the first official casting news from the project aside from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s return to the franchise. Deadline reports that Zero Dark Thirty‘s Jason Clarke is still in negotiations for the role of John Connor.

We’ll be sure to keep you up to date on the reboot as further casting is announced. The film is slated to hit theatres in July 2015, so I’d imagine that we’ll hear more very soon.

Do you think the Clarke will be able to stand up to the likes of Linda Hamilton and Lena Heady, or is there someone else you’d rather have seen in the role? Sound out below!

Briefly: Remember that poster that popped up last month, leading the entire internet (and even iMDB) to believe that the Robert Rodriguez’ Sin City sequel had been retitled A Dame to Die For?

DameToDieFor
Image via Bloody-Disgusting

Well, it turns out that retitling was a mistake. A new, official poster has just debuted online (and in theatres), and it thankfully shows the A Dame to Kill For moniker.

We heard that a lot of you were a little ticked off at the apparent title change. Are you happy now? Take a look at the new poster below, and let us know what you think! Sin City: A Dame to Kill For hits theatres on August 22nd, 2014!

DameToKillFor

Yep, it’s kinda the same poster… just with a cast this time.

Briefly: We’re just two months away from the Netflix launch of House of Cards‘ second season, and the streaming service turned amazing production company has just debuted a new trailer for the revered series.

Following the first teaser trailer released just last week, this new preview gives us a much better outline of the coming season. Drama, murder, sex, politics, and everything else you could want from the series looks to be in abundance here.

still haven’t finished the first season, but will be watching it sooner rather than later as I’ve heard nothing but praise for the drama. Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the second season!

In the second season, Francis (Spacey) and Claire (Wright) Underwood continue their ruthless rise to power as threats mount on all fronts. Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara, “American Horror Story”), an up-and-coming reporter and Francis’s former paramour, is inching closer to the truth about his crimes. President Walker’s (Michel Gill, “The Good Wife”) billionaire confidante Raymond Tusk (Gerald McRaney, “Southland”) demands that Francis reciprocate political favors or face retribution. And Claire must confront the increasing glare of the spotlight as it eats away at her and Francis’s once private existence. The Underwood’s must overcome these dangers — past and present — to avoid losing everything, regardless of collateral damage they leave in their wake.

Briefly: It was just last month that we learned of Sony’ planning to expand the Spider-Man universe with even more sequels and spin-offs, and the studio has just announced the first information for two of those spinoff films.

A five person team of Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon, and Drew Goddard have formed a “brain trust” to continue the franchise with a consistent tone (and connections between each film). According to the press release, “Kurtzman & Orci & Pinkner are writing the screenplay for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which the studio hopes Webb will return to direct; the film will go into production next fall for release on June 10, 2016. In addition, the team will build on the cinematic foundation laid by Webb, Arad, and Tolmach in the first two movies. They will expand the franchise as Kurtzman & Orci & Solomon will write the screenplay for Venom, which Kurtzman will direct; also, Goddard will write, with an eye to direct, The Sinister Six, focusing on the villains in the franchise.”

It’s interesting to see Drew Goddard’s name on that list, as the talented writer/director was recently tapped to write (and maybe direct) the Daredevil series for Netflix. In any case, it certainly raises my hopes for a film about six villains that haven’t been introduced yet.

You can take a look at the full press release here. Are you excited at the prospect of these films? Or is Sony simply making promises that they can’t keep? Is the Spider-Man franchise growing too quickly (remember Venom in Spider-Man 3? Sound out below!

Briefly: I thought that it would never happen, but Knights of Badassdom is finally coming out.

We saw the first trailer for the film all the way back in 2011, and for some reason… the movie never came out. As far as I’m aware, nobody really knows why it was shelved for so long. Seeing as many of the film’s stars have absolutely exploded in popularity since the movie was shot, there has never been a better time to release it than right now. The film stars Peter Dinklage, Summer Glau, Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn, Danny Pudi, and plenty of others.

Entertainment One (the film’s new distributor) has released a new preview clip exclaiming that “Thy wait is over.” The film is schedule to hit theatres on  January 21st, and release on VOD February 11th.

Take a look at the new preview below, and let us know if you’re excited!

And here’s that classic trailer:

Briefy: From Brian Anderson, the creator of Lego Breaking Bad, comes Lego The Last of Us, the next game that will never, ever, ever (ever) exist, even though it would be totally incredible if it did:

You’d play the hell out of it, wouldn’t you? At least the real game is getting some sweet DLC, right?

Briefly: A few days ago we showed you the very first trailer for the upcoming fifth season of NBC’s Community.

Now, go beyond the darkest timeline with a longer, better, and funnier one.

The series that NBC hates but-just-can’t-seem-to-kill returns on January 2nd, and I couldn’t be more excited. This stuff looks absolutely golden, and especially compared to last year’s Harmon-less fourth season.

Take a look at the new preview below, and let us know just how happy you are to be heading back to Greendale!

Briefly: You’re going to want to jump on this deal RIGHT NOW, as it’s only on for another day!

The games work on both OS X and Windows, and as always with the service, are completely DRM free.

Briefly: It’s nearly here. The game that Geekscape (and likely all of you) have been waiting for since November 20th, 2012: the continuation of Telltale’s The Walking Dead.

Lee’s journey may have come to an end, but his trials and tribulations will not be forgotten. Without him, Clementine wouldn’t have made it (over and over again), and she wouldn’t be as prepared for this new world as she is now.

Telltale has just launched a new, full trailer for this season’s premiere episode, “All That Remains”. The trailer shows off just a few of the situations you’ll find yourself in once the episode finally releases (Telltale says that’s “very soon”, but is probably December 17th), and they look to be the exact situations that you feared last year. You never wanted to see Clementine like this!

I feel as though we’ll be getting a much different game this time around. The title’s main mechanic, of course, is the reactions, choices, and conversations that you make, and putting a child into these situations instead of an adult can only complicate things (when’s the last time you took a child seriously).

All fears aside, we can’t wait to play. Take a look at the newest trailer below, and let us know what you think!

The Walking Dead: Season Two – A Telltale Games Series will continue the story of Clementine, a young girl orphaned at the outset of the undead apocalypse, now left to her own devices to seek safety and survive in a world gone mad.  Now assuming the role of an ordinary child, players will struggle to outwit both the dead and the living in situations that will test their morals and control the flow of the story through their decisions and actions.

Briefly: First announced just a few weeks back, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has just hit the iOS App Store.

Now, this version of San Andreas isn’t simply a straight port. Rockstar states that “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been upgraded for its mobile release. Newly remastered graphics including dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched color palette, plus enhanced character and car models make this the best-looking version of San Andreas yet.”

Sound like a buy yet? The game also “features brand new touch controls including contextual control options to display buttons only when you need them and three different control schemes for driving and maneuvering, as well as a reworked checkpoint system for easier progression. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for mobile also comes equipped with full controller support, including Made for iOS controller capability on iOS7.”

How about now? The game also utilizes iCloud save support, meaning that you can pick up the game on your iPhone, and continue it on your iPad later (and vice versa). You can also use your own music in the game (if you feeling like missing out on the excellent radio stations) by creating a playlist on your device titled GTASA.

You can pick up the iOS version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas here for a cool $6.99. The Android and Windows phone versions should be released in the coming weeks!

Briefly: Now that Oblivion has come and gone, are you ready for another Tom Cruise starring sic-fi action flick?

I think we both know the answer to that (probably not).

In any case, the first trailer for the heavily promoted at SDCC Edge of Tomorrow has just hit the internet. It stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Jeremy Piven, and plenty of others in what basically looks like Groundhog Day and Independence Day all mashed together (with just a little bit of Source Code thrown in for good measure).

Still want to see the trailer, or are you buying your ticket right now? Take a look at the first action-heavy trailer below, and let us know what you think! Edge of Tomorrow hits theatres on June 6th, 2014!

he epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Briefly: We’re now just 14 days away, everyone!

No, not from Christmas, silly. I’m talking about The Time of the Doctor of course! The much more important event (and Matt Smith’s final appearance as the Doctor) just so happens to take place on December 25th, and we couldn’t be more excited!

BBC has just launched the first teaser for the episode, which naturally features a few small spoilers. It clocks in at a short 36 seconds long, but it’s 36 seconds of perfect, and really gets us excited to throw on our new Tardis bath robes (the ones we put right at the top of our lists) and get down to business on Christmas day.

Take a look at the teaser below, and let us know what you think! Are you ready to say goodbye to Matt Smith?

Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars – and amongst them, the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.

Briefly: Bethesda has finally announced the long-awaited release date for The Elder Scrolls Online.

The new MMO will launch on April 4th for Windows and OS X (yep, that’s a day one OS X release), while PS4 and Xbox One editions will follow close behind on a yet-to-be-determined date in June.

ElderScrollsOnline

The game’s director, Matt Firor, offered the following update on the anticipated title:

Greetings everyone. As we are approaching the end of 2013 and heading into our launch year, I thought I’d take a moment to thank you, our community, for your continued support. I’d also like to give you an update on the game’s development and our launch plans for 2014.

First, thanks to everyone involved in the ESO community: those we met at trade shows, those of you on social media, and those that have had a chance to play the game and provided invaluable feedback through beta testing. I personally am humbled by the intense feelings of excitement expressed to us by the community at large. At shows like PAX East, PAX Prime, Gamescom, Eurogamer Expo, Paris Games Week, etc. – we always had three to four hour lines to play ESO. We know those wait times weren’t easy, and the great patience and enthusiastic reception you showed was remarkable. Everyone here at ZeniMax Online appreciates each and every one of you and your fantastic support of the game.

Game development is coming along very well. We completed major systems development, and are focusing on making this the Elder Scrolls game you expect: polishing the hundreds and hundreds of hours of content, making combat even more fun and responsive, fixing quest issues, and much, much more. In fact, we plan on spending the next few months before launch reacting to the latest feedback from internal and external testers and gameplay data we have collected.

As some of you know, we’ve been in beta testing for about a year now, leading up to our most recent test in late November where we had over 300,000 people in the game over a 48 hour period. We’ve had approximately 4 million people sign up for beta and that number continues to grow. We hope that just about every one of you who have signed up for beta will get an invitation to play sometime between now and the weeks before launch. These tests are very important, not only for gameplay feedback, but also to test our infrastructure. Beta tests can sometimes be a little rough when we are testing some systems for the first time with large numbers of players. So thank you to all who have participated for your understanding and support. It is very much appreciated.

Worldwide demand for The Elder Scrolls Online is extraordinarily high. This means we need to do a staggered rollout of the different versions of the game to spread out the initial service load and ensure an enjoyable, smooth gameplay experience. It is not only a game we are launching – it is a large online service as well, and our number one priority is to ensure a trouble-free, stable rollout for everyone.

We long ago promised that as soon as a version of the game is ready, we will launch it. So we’re happy to announce that the game will launch worldwide for PC and Mac players on Friday, April 4, 2014, while PlayStation 4 and Xbox One fans will see the game arriving on consoles in June 2014.

Again, thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm over the past year. We are very proud of this game and excited to share it with you. We can’t wait to see you in the game in 2014! —Matt

To celebrate the launch announcement, Bethesda has also launched an excellent new trailer for the title, showcasing the war in Cyrodiil.

With so many MMO’s launching in the next year (or launching in the past year), which are you playing? Which are you looking forward to? Sound out below!

Briefly: 20th Century Fox today debuted four new character posters for next year’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

The posters feature some of the film’s more prominent apes (I’m guessing), who all look like they’re beyond pissed-off at something (probably humans… we’re kind of dicks).

Fox has also announced that the first trailer for the film will hit the web next Wednesday, December 16th at 6:00am.

Take a look at the new posters below, and let us know what you think! Be sure to check back next Wednesday for the film’s first trailer!

Apes1

Apes2

Apes3

Apes4

In ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’, a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

This is super cool, and not even a little bit like Night Trap (the project even states it in its FAQ):

Screen Shot 2013-12-10 at 5.38.15 PM

Contradiction is an all new murder-mystery game that uses  hundreds of short live-action video clips to create a fully interactive crime drama, in which you can move around freely, interrogate characters and trap them into confessions.

The game’s creator, Tim Follin, is no stranger to the industry. He spent years as a game musician writing music for consoles such as the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, NES, SNES, and beyond, and for games like Ecco the Dolphin, Starsky & Hutch, and Lemmings. Now it’s Tim’s turn to create his own world, in a medium that’s never really been successful before.

Contradiction
The game’s current build running on an iPad

According to the project’s Kickstarter page, the game allows you to “move around at will, investigate locations, collect evidence and make notes. But the heart of the game is interviewing characters, asking them questions and spotting the lies they tell. It’s a system that’s designed to make you feel like you’re actually having a conversation that flows as quickly and naturally as it would in real life.”

It sounds like an extremely ambitious idea, and one that I really hope comes to fruition. Tim is looking for a very reasonable £10,000, and is already sitting at £1562 with 26 days remaining. He’s got a excellent shot at being successful, and of course, we can help! There are plenty of awesome rewards available for backers, including the finished product, blooper reels, your name in the credits, game music, or you could even name one of the game’s characters.

Take a look at Contradiction‘s Kickstarter video below, and head to the campaign page for more info (and of course to donate)! This is one project that I’d really love to see happen.

Briefly: The World War Z sequel just got a lot more interesting.

The Orphanage and The Impossible (both fantastic, fantastic films) director J.A Bayona has just signed on to helm Paramount’s yet untitled World War Z sequel. No information about the sequel has been announced at this point, as the film is still in search of a writer, but we do know that Brad Pitt will again produce the film (no word on whether or not he’ll also act in it).

World War Z was a major surprise for me when it released earlier this year. I was a big fan of the (very, very different) novel, and thought that the film looked like absolute crap right from the very first trailer (plot wise, and that wave of zombies looked like something out of an early PS2 game, among other things). When I finally got around to seeing it however, I actually really enjoyed it (Not as an adaptation, but simply as a film… its only similarities to the book were the title and character’s name). In any case, the HonestTrailer for the film was pretty spot on:

Are you looking forward to the sequel? What did you think of the first film? Sound out below!

Briefly: Nintendo has taken another step into the 21st century.

A just-launched 3DS firmware update has added some long-awaited, much needed features to the console.

First up: we’ve had Miiverse on our Wii U’s for over a year, and have been posting from our smartphones for months now. Today, the 3DS finally joins the party. You’ll be able to read, post, doodle, and more, with even more functionality (mainly friends) still coming down the pipeline.

The next why-wasn’t-it-there-from-the-start piece of the update adds a unified Nintendo ID option for the system. You can now log into the same Nintendo account on your 3DS as you have on your Wii U. This allows you to share a balance (finally) and view your wish list from either console.

To celebrate, why don’t you run and pick up a Wii U? That Wind Waker HD bundle looks pretty tasty.

Briefly: It’s finally here. The first official trailer for Gareth Edward’s Godzilla has just debuted online, and it’s everything that I imagined it could be.

Remember that Godzilla film that we all wanted back in 1998? I feel as though this may just be that movie. The trailer is very much a teaser, and opens with a pretty breathtaking scene of a HALO jump over a city ripe with destruction. The preview shows off some of the film’s incredible cast, gives us a fairly good look at Godzilla itself, and is 100% bad-ass for its entire duration (though I wish it gave us a little plot). Seriously, I can’t wait to get a look at this on the big screen.

It’s been a long time coming, but it looks as though it’s all been worth it. Take a look a the first official Godzilla trailer below, and let us know what you think! The film hits theatres on May 16th, 2014!

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Briefly: Telltale Games knows exactly how to break your heart, and today they destroyed mine in just a few seconds.

The second season of The Walking Dead may launch its premiere episode on December 17th, in which case it’s about time to start its marketing push. The developer shared a short Vine video earlier today (just like they did with 400 Days),  which spotlights a lonely Clementine looking back on her recent, gut-wrenching past.

There are definitely spoilers below if you haven’t finished the first season. If you have completed it, take a look at the tiny preview below, and when you’re done crying, let us know just how excited (and terrified) you are to jump back into this world.

Briefly: Warner Bros. has just debuted the first trailer for the Wachowski siblings’ next ambitious project, Jupiter Ascending.

The trailer looks to be a return to action for the directors, whose previous venture, Cloud Atlas failed to capture critics and viewers alike. I thought the film looked absolutely brilliant from its trailers and advertising, but felt that the full feature was an unmemorable, dull mess.

I certainly hope that the very sic-fi film can bring the spark of The Matrix back once again. Only time will tell, of course, but for now, at least we have this damn cool trailer.

Take a look at Jupiter Ascending‘s first preview below, and let us know if you’re excited! The film stars Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Sean Bean, Douglas Booth, and plenty of others, and hits theatres on July 25th, 2014!

From the streets of Chicago to the far-flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” tells the story of Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), who was born under a night sky, with signs predicting she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

Briefly: Community is almost back, folks.

The series that NBC hates but-just-can’t-seem-to-kill returns on January 2nd, and the network has just debuted the season’s first trailer.

I laughed out loud numerous times during the one-minute preview, which may be more than I can say for the Dan Harmon-less season four (not really, there were a few great episodes). The preview explains just how the now-graduated Jeff Winger ends up back at Greendale, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’re excited! If you haven’t seen Community yet, what are you waiting for? You’ve heard all the buzz, haven’t you?

Briefly: Jon Schnepp is a busy guy. He’s currently working on the feature-length documentary The Death of ‘Superman Lives’: What Happened?, running a Kickstarter for Unicrom: The Unicorn Barbarian, and the six-episode Hail to the King just got a release date on Machinima.

Here’s the synopsis from Machinima:

From the creative minds of Avenged Sevenfold, one of rock music’s global heavyweights and a trailblazing force in fusing the worlds of music and video games, Hail To The King is a six-episode animated series, which is directed by Metalocalypse producer Jon Schnepp. The unique and innovative series tells the fictional story of the Deathbat – the band’s longtime trademark, and serves as the prologue to their highly anticipated mobile video game, “Hail to the King: Deathbat.” Accompanying the launch of the series will be a trailer for the game, which will be available early 2014.

Now, it’s been a number of years since I’ve listened to Avenged Sevenfold, but with an animation giant like Jon Schnepp attached to the project, I’ll be watching Hail to the King as soon as possible.

The entire season will launch on Machinima’s Happy Hour channel on December 15th. Take a look at the newest trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be checking it out!

Briefly: We knew that it was coming, but now we know when.

Major Nelson has announced the release date of the Xbox One version of 343 Studios’ Halo: Spartan Assault. The downloadable title will be available on December 24th, for a cool $14.99. The Xbox 360 version has been slightly delayed, and is expected to release in January.

According to the piece, if you already own the title on Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8, the Xbox One version will cost you just $4.99, which makes a nice incentive for you early adopters.

We went hands-on with the game at this year’s E3, and it looked and felt absolutely fantastic. I do hope that Microsoft one day releases it on non-Windows tablets however, as I still haven’t had a chance to play it (and I really want to)!

Take a look at the release date trailer for the game below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up!

Briefly: Konami has just announced the release date of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

The announcement comes via a new trailer for the game, which details the Xbox exclusive ‘Jamais Vu’ mission. The mission has you playing as Metal Gear Rising Raiden, who has come from the future to… well, watch the trailer and find out! In any case, this looks so much cooler than the Playstation exclusive ‘Deja Vu’ mission.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will launch on March 18th, 2014. The game is coming to Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and will act as the standalone prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Briefly: It was just yesterday that Telltale Games confirmed that they were working on a game set in the Game of Thrones universe, and now the developer has released the title’s first teaser trailer.

The trailer features no gameplay, and doesn’t even reveal what the game is about, but it’s still oddly exciting. If you’ve played last year’s phenomenal game based on The Walking Dead, then you know just how incredible Game of Thrones could turn out.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’re excited! Telltale’s Game of Thrones will release sometime in 2014!

Briefly: What game stole this year’s VGX awards? Some folks are saying that it was Telltale’s confirmation of a Game of Thrones game, but most are looking towards Hello Games and their newly announced No Man’s Sky.

Very little was revealed about the title, aside from the fact that almost the entire this is procedurally generated, and that it looks absolutely gorgeous. This mean’s that, similarly to titles like Minecraft, the game’s world is not set, but instead algorithmically created by the game itself.

The title looks to feature a ton of exploration. From checking out wildlife at the bottom of the ocean, to blasting asteroids (and other ships) in the middle of space, No Man’s Sky has got it all.

Take a look at the game’s first trailer below, and let us know what you think. We’ll be sure to share more No Man’s Sky info as soon as it’s released!

Briefly: Tomb Raider is headed to PS4 and Xbox One.

Sadly, it isn’t a new game: it’s called Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, and it’s an even more HD rerelease of the already HD title. It’s a perfect jumping-on point for new console owners, or if you just-so-happened to miss the experience earlier this year. It’s also a fantastic game, so if you haven’t already played it, you really, really should.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will include all of the DLC for Tomb Raider, but the title is also set to look incredible. In a post from Playstation.Blog, Crystal Dynamics’ Scot Amos describes some of the major changes to the next-gen version:

Getting our gameplay up to native 1080p meant increasing all of our texture resolutions by over 4x so the details and nuances can be seen in their full glory. However, it’s subtleties like our subsurface scattering technology — how we manage realistic lighting effects through solid/semi-solid matter — that we’re so proud of, which bring a new glow to Lara’s skin. All of these elements working in conjunction drive a much more realistic world than we’ve ever had.

The entire game world — the perilous island of Yamatai — is alive as well. Foliage bends as Lara pushes through it; trees whip in the wind; even cloth moves courtesy of new, more sophisticated physics modeling. Weather effects lash the island with unprecedented levels of venom, and rain particles are dynamically lit as they slice through piercing searchlights. The in-game cast has also enjoyed an upgrade — characters and enemies alike have been enhanced visually, while in-game destructibility has been given additional refinement to increase the sense that you are leaving a mark on this world.

However, as always, it’s Lara who’s the star of the show. As such, one of our boldest changes was to handcraft an all new, even more realistic head and face model for her, taking advantage of the increased power of PS4. This is our first glimpse of our next-generation Lara. We also drastically improved shader and lighting effects, adding dynamic sweat, mud, and even blood for a new level of visual acuity that reacts on Lara in different situations. Objects on Lara’s person like her climbing axe or arrows now independently react to her movements and sway or jostle with an obsessive eye for detail, further adding that nothing was too small for us to tackle.

Lara’s hair now benefits from TressFX technology — her hair strands are independently simulated and interact with environmental effects, as well as react to her every movement, delivering unprecedented, lifelike motion. This all-new Lara is Crystal’s first steps towards the future. It’s a promising, compelling beginning.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?
