Briefly: Season four won’t premiere for another month, but Netflix hit House of Cards has already been renewed for an additional season.

It’s not all good news, however, as showrunner Beau Willimon has departed the celebrated series, Netflix revealed in a statement earlier today, noting that ‘Netflix and MRC owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Beau Willimon for his strong narrative vision for House of Cards over the show’s first four seasons. As an Academy Award-nominated writer, he made his first foray into television and built a riveting and critically acclaimed series, establishing his place in TV history. The producers, cast and crew join us in wishing Beau the best in his next creative adventure.’

Willimon added that “I’m grateful to Netflix and MRC, my fellow executive producers, our two incandescent stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, our talented writers, as well as the incredible cast and crew with whom I’ve had the privilege to work. After five years and four seasons, it’s time for me to move on to new endeavors, but I’m supremely proud of what we’ve built together, wish the show much continued success, and leave it in the hands of a very capable team.”

House of Cards fourth season is set to debut on March 4th. A new showrunner for the just-announced fifth season has not been set at this time, but with lots of time until the fifth season’s 2017 debut, we’ll be sure to share the news as soon as we know more.

Election season is right around the corner, will you vote Underwood 2016?

Every four years, the United States is subjected to a fight between the left and the right sides of the political spectrum. In the year 2016, fictional and non-fictional folks alike are fighting for the house on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and the title of the President of the United States.

On the right side, is Francis Underwood. A man who believes that progress, forward momentum, and getting things done is the best way to go. He has no time for useless things like political gridlock and stagnation.

It was nearly a month ago now, while the Republicans debated in Las Vegas, that Underwood rolled out his own campaign video. Underwood puts people before politics. It’s why the American people are able to be at home with their families, they’re able to go to work, they’re able to have a life. All because of Frank Underwood.

During the Golden Globes last night, amongst the celebrations for those who won and had yet to win, the Underwood Campaign released another video. This one talked about the kind of President that America deserves. He declared that America needs a President who is not afraid to look someone in the eye. Who is able to communicate their beliefs. Underwood believes in putting people first, in putting America back on track, opening doors, and he is willing to work with both sides so everyone can get what they want. The man who is declared humble, has taken criticism, but the support in which he has received was never taken for granted. In heart of hearts, Frank Underwood believes that America deserves him as a leader.

So? What do you think? Are you ready to vote Underwood for President, 2016? Show your support on social media with #FU2016 on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.

Deadline reports that Corey Stoll (House Of Cards) has signed on for the lead role of ‘Dr. Ephraim Goodweather’ in the pilot for FX’s upcoming adaptation of The Strain. Del Toro will direct the pilot based on a script written by him and Chuck Hogan. Carlton Cuse (Lost) will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the project which according to the site “already has a full writing staff in place churning out scripts”. FX has reportedly already commited $500,000 to creature creation. Del Toro stated about the casting:

The-Strain-1

“To me, having the right lead for The Strain series was perhaps the most important creative task,” del Toro told the site. “To be able to secure the perfect actor in Corey Stoll sets the project on the right track. To embody a character like Ephraim Goodweather – who transitions through every emotion and situation imaginable, and which anchors the narrative of the series – requires amazing talent and craft. Corey has both in spades as he has demonstrated it over and over again.”
