Video game lovers should know that Square Enix and Deep Silver are planning an Arcade-style public showcase at the Whiskey Girl in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter! The showcase will run on Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, from 11AM to 2AM. Yes, 2AM. Below is the list of a few titles you’ll be able to find:

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

Developed by Crystal Dynamics, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. In her new adventure, Lara Croft travels to Egypt and must join forces with rival treasure hunter Carter Bell and imprisoned gods Horus and Isis, to defeat the evil god Set. Featuring a four-player co-op story, players must work together to explore the temple, defeat hordes of enemies from the Egyptian underworld, solve devious puzzles, and avoid deadly traps. All the while, players will compete for treasure, powerful artifacts, and ultimate bragging rights.

Nosgoth

Developed by Psyonix, Nosgoth is a unique team-based player-versus-player game pitting together a variety of brutal Human and Vampire characters in a fight for survival. Created as a competitive free-to-play title in order to break down barriers between the creators and the players, Nosgoth doesn’t include weapons, items or abilities that are inherently better (aka supremacy goods). All items in the Nosgoth in-game store are side-grades not upgrades to create a fair game experience based purely on skill.

Hitman: Sniper

Hitman: Sniper is a brand new competitive sniper game with numerous levels full of creative opportunities to manipulate guards, the environment, and targets to complete the hit. Take on the role of Agent 47 and scope in on your marks using skill, subtlety, smarts and subterfuge to complete your contracts. Spend your hard earned blood money on a wealth of powerful rifles and authentic, game-changing upgrades. Engage your friends in leaderboard driven challenges and prove you have what it takes to be the deadliest marksman around.

Hitman GO

Hitman GO is a turn-based strategy game where you will strategically navigate fixed spaces on a grid to avoid enemies, infiltrate well-guarded locations and take out your target on beautifully rendered diorama-style set pieces. You really have to think about each move and all the Hitman tools of the trade you would expect are included; disguises distractions, sniper rifles and even 47’s iconic Silverballers

Deep Silver will also be showcasing HomefrontEscape Dead IslandMetro Redux and Sacred 3.

Find me at the Whiskey Girl (702 5th Avenue), where I’ll surely be playing Nosgoth!

We live bloged the Microsoft press conference, but we felt bad that our description of some of the trailers/teasers/gameplay we saw there basically boiled down to “OMG OMG OMG shiny,” so we thought we’d actually post our favorite video moments from today’s conference for you to judge for yourself (in no particular order).

Note: this is just about the trailers, not so much about what we may or may not think of the game!

Second Note: Some of these are NSFW and/or children.

1. Ori and the Blind Forest (Moon Studios)

More than a trailer, almost a short film, Ori and the Blind Forest’s debut trailer was just gorgeous, with stunning imagery and an exquisite soundtrack.  Why waste more words?? Here it is:

http://youtu.be/kn4HM36KyI0

2. Sunset Overdrive (Insomniac Games)

With vibrant, comic-book style art (complete with onomatopoeia bubbles), Sunset Overdrive is a not-so-traditional shooter that combines high-agility feats, unique weapons and a wise-ass protagonist into a fun mix of non-stop action–at least in the trailer.

3. Scalebound (Platinum Games)

Continuing the trend of wise-cracking heroes, Platinum Games  released a trailer for their upcoming release, Scalebound. With vaguely Kaiju-looking monsters and the ability to ride a dragon, Scalebound also promises a new level of immersive gameplay on the Xbox One.

4. Assassin’s Creed: Unity (Ubisoft)

Ubisoft’s trailer for the new Assassin’s Creed: Unity highlighted the new co-op play, where players can form their own Brotherhood with up to three friends and adventure through Revolutionary France. Adventure may be slightly too light and fun of a term here, as you will see at the end of this video:

5. Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Projekt Red)

Projekt Red showed off the new game play and 1080p graphics in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. While not strictly a trailer, it sure is pretty. And that Griffin!

6. Evolve (Turtle Rock Studios)

Turtle Rock Studios revealed a new, playable monster and announced the open beta of the much-anticipated game, Evolved, all in one eerie, creepy, awesome-rific trailer.

7. Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition (Capcom Vancouver)

Capcam Vancouver kept its tongue firmly in cheek for their trailer announcing the new, four-player, co-op arcade mode that launched yesterday and is available now on Xbox One.

8. Crackdown (Microsoft Studios)

Microsoft teased the return of their Crackdown franchise with an all-new installment. Crackdown will feature both co-op and single player play, and at some point you get to take out a building with a truck. With a truck!

9. Dragon Age: Inquisition (Bioware/EA)

We got a peek at the brand new trailer for the much-anticipated third game in the Dragon Age series. There was a much more detailed look at the game at EA’s conference later, but this trailer was still pretty awesome:

10. Phantom Dust (Microsoft Studios)

A reboot of the original fan favorite, Phantom Dust‘s trailer was greeted with cheers and applause–and it delivered.

Okay, there’s our ten. What do you think? Did they live up to what you wanted? Are you excited? Did we miss one??

Stay tuned here for all your E3 news–we’ve just barely started!

Lightning Returns brings many new features to the XIII series, many of which were detailed in our E3 preview. Most prominently, Lightning’s ever growing wardrobe/class change function has been much talked about. In recent months, we’ve learned that Lightning will be able to don outfits paying homage to Final Fantasy alumni such as Cloud Strife, Aeris, (Aerith?) Gainsborough and Yuna, but now it seems that Square Enix’s two most dominant women are due for a crossover.

It was revealed that gamers will be able to download a Lara Croft costume for Lightning, dirty face and all. As with all of the in game costumes, this one comes with its own set of equipment, which include the trademark pick axe and riot shield from Lara’s latest re imagining.

After the success of the multi million selling Tomb Raider reboot, it makes perfect sense that Square’s most famous franchise will show it some love. All I know is that this costume will be on my hard drive the moment February 11th arrives.

Briefly: These past few days have brought nearly nothing newsworthy to the table (and also the most newsworthy piece all year), but an excellent fan film based on this year’s Tomb Raider reboot has just debuted online, and it’s definitely worth the price of admission (free)!

Directed by Trevor Addie, and starring Cassandra Ebner, Liam Carter, Devyn Dalton, Nickolas Baric, Shaw Madson, and Brad Friesen, in Croft, a woman will risk everything to save a young girl held hostage in the mountains by a group of mercenaries.

You played Tomb Raider, right (if not, it is going next-gen next month)? So you probably know how things will turn out (bad-ass). In any case, take a look at Croft below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: Well this is a surprise.

The 1996 classic, Tomb Raider (which I now barely remember as I was just six years old the first time I played it) has just launched on the iOS App Store for $.99!

I immediately picked up the title (which weighs in at a cool 280MB), and it feels about as well as I could imagine this game playing on a touchscreen. Tomb Raider launched well before the original Dual Shock controller did, remember, so instead of dual faux-thumbsticks, you’ll be relying on the classic, clunky-as-hell Resident-Evil style controls. The game also supports the newfangled iOS controllers (including the MOGA Ace Power and the Logitech PowerShell, which I haven’t seen in stores yet but would totally pick up), which I can only imagine would make things a lot easier.

The game is old and tough, and the graphics are beyond-awful compared to AAA mobile titles of today, but it’s a nostalgic blast that shouldn’t be overlooked, and especially not for $1. Take a look at Square-Enix’s release notes below, and head here to download the game!

We’re going back to where it all began for one of the most famous video game characters of all time – Lara Croft – with the release of her very first adventure! That’s right, Tomb Raider I is now available for your iPad and iPhone in all its original (and challenging!) glory.

We’ve not messed about with it, so it’s the full, unedited, unadulterated experience from the classic release at a super-low price. How better to find out if you’ve still got what it takes to beat a legendary game than by taking on the lost city of Atlantis and the pyramids of Egypt? It’s probably not for the faint of heart!

The game includes two extra chapters that were included in the game’s 1998 re-release, giving you a total play time of around 15 hours. Also supports game controllers such as the MOGA Ace Power and the Logitech PowerShell.

Here’s some story info:

Adventurer Lara Croft has been hired to recover the pieces of an ancient artefact known as the Scion. With her fearless acrobatic style she runs, jumps, swims and climbs her way towards the truth of its origin and powers – leaving only a trail of empty tombs and gun-cartridges in her wake. On this trail are breath-taking 3D worlds where exploration, puzzle and platform elements blend in a seamless real-time environment. A perfect chance for newcomers and diehards alike to jump back into the series’ seminal single-player action.

•Epic Exploration – The lost city of Atlantis and ancient Egyptian pyramids are ripe for discovery: explore every hidden dark crevice and impossible heights; enter into strange, undiscovered lands and solve their deepest, darkest mysteries; open doors to new realms, uncover great rewards and unearth secrets to Lara’s past.

•Acrobatic Gunplay – Deftly leap around charging enemies while you unleash a hail of bullets from your trademark dual pistols.

•Combat Lethal Predators – The wilderness awaits with a wide range of enemies from bears to wolves, intriguing Atlantean centaurs and the terrifying T-Rex.

A film reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise has been in development for years. Today MGM’s Gary Barber and producer Graham King announced that the studio has gained the film rights to the successful video game franchise and will develop a film with GK Films.

After two successful films starring Angelina Jolie, a reboot and new take on the series has been in development for quite some time but never moved forward until now. The franchise saw a very successful reboot of the video game series earlier this month, so it really shouldn’t be a shock that they are now pursuing bringing Lara Croft back to the big screen again.

Reviews have been rolling in, and if the universal acclaim is any indication, this is one tomb you’ll definitely want to raid yourself. Square Enix today released a new trailer for the game, showcasing the rebirth and reimagining of one of gaming’s most recognizable characters. Just like previous videos, this preview is impressive as hell; watch the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

This is one reboot that I’m really looking forward to. How about you?

Square Enix today announced pre-orders for the upcoming reboot of the Uncharted Tomb Raider franchise.

Three editions of the game have been revealed, as well as your standard array of different pre-order bonuses from different retailers.

Tomb Raider of course gets a standard edition with no goodies. A ‘Survival’ edition will also be released, including the game, a map of the island the game takes place on, a download of the game’s soundtrack, and a survival pouch.

A Deluxe edition has also been announced, which includes everything from the ‘Survival’ edition,  featuring a 6″ Lara Croft figure, and some metal casing for all your goodies.

Unfortunately, no photos of the upcoming editions appear to have been released.

If you’ve been keeping up with the game at all, it really does look fantastic. I’m looking forward to picking it up when it releases on March 5th. Check out some gameplay below and let us know what you think!

Next week, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are set release a new gameplay trailer titled “Crossroads” for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. Check out the teaser for the upcoming gameplay trailer.
