Violett Beane (SLASH)  has joined ‘The Flash’ season two as Jesse Quick, who will be joining Jay Garrick portrayed by Teddy Sears. Season two is shaping up to be action packed with the casting of two additional speedsters (not including Zoom). Could all the different speedsters signal the beginning of the Infinite Earths Crisis? It will be cool to see the explanations of the different speedsters.  One thing is for sure, we are going to see them race each other in a probably the most cliché way.

Jesse_Chambers_saving_Wally_West

Jesse Quick is “the alter-ego of Jesse Chambers, a heroine with super-speed powers. Chambers is the daughter of Golden Age heroes Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle; she would later go on to adopt her mother’s name. Her speed powers are accessed by speaking a special math formula, although she also has her mother’s abilities.”

‘The Flash’ zooms its way back to T.V. on Tuesday, October 6th on The CW.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC has put out a pilot order for a new Marvel television series based on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” character Mockingbird, as portrayed by Adrianne Palicki. The working title of the show is “Marvel’s Most Wanted” which will focus on Bobbi Morse and her lover boy Lance Hunter, played by Nick Blood.

I have to say that Bobbi and Lance were my favorite part of the second half of this season. Both actors played off each other really well dramatically and comedically. I’m just curious to see if the spinoff will run concurrent to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or take place in the past.

In the meantime “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”s third season premieres Tuesday, September 29 at 9 pm EST on ABC.

Mockingbird2

When i was a younger I would watch enough Television to rival Mike T.V. Among those shows thay i watched was every iteration of Scooby Doo from a Pup named Scooby Doo to the underated 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. So i was delighted to see that LEGO was adding the property to its open world game ‘LEGO Dimensions’

One of the cool things that I noticed in the gameplay video was the integration of the LEGO and cell shaded visuals of the original series. Also, unlike the other games you interchange all characters and vehicles into the different worlds. In the video I saw the Mystery Machine strolling through the Simpsons house.

The more I see from ‘LEGO Dimensions’ the more im fighting the urge to go and preorder one of the starter sets and snatch up all those cool mini figures.

‘Lego Dimensions’ starts building September 27 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

We are about two months away from the premier of ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ and Starz has a released a new poster to get your chainsaws reving. We have Ash looking bad ass on his oldmobiles mowing downs the undead with his sidekicks.

Ash vs the evil dead

Bruce Campbell reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario, and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead.  When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal.  Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”) in the role of Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless (“Salem,” “Spartacus,” “Xena”) as Ruby, a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Ray Santiago (“Touch,” Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick, Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past, and Jill Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”)as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.

‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ premieres Saturday, October 31st at 9:00pm ET/PT exclusively on STARZ with a 10-episode season.

Christopher Lloyd is back as Doc Brown for LEGO venture into cross worlds video gaming with ‘LEGO Dimensions’.

In ‘LEGO Dimensions’ your favorite characters from DC Comics, The Simpsons, The Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie, Back to the Future, The Wizard of Oz, Scooby Doo, Jurassic World, Ghostbusters and Doctor Who are coming together to be part of an all new immersive adventure. The last time we got this many properties together for a crossover adventure was with ‘Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue’.

LEGO enters the “toys-to-life” gaming market with the vast properties they have acquired through its regular LEGO line. I personally tried Disney Infinity 1.0. Wasn’t too much of fan of its game play mechanics and limitations. However, LEGO seems to have made numerous improvements so I may have to sneak this on to my daughter’s Christmas wishlist to give it a go.

‘Lego Dimensions’ starts building September 27 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

The CW has released a new promo ad for the upcoming second season of ‘The Flash’

The preview for the first episode features a shot of former WWE wrestler Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland as the DC anti-hero Atom Smasher. He is looking pretty dope in that helmet. There is also a shot of a flash signal reminiscent of the Bat-Signal. Wonder whats that all about… It would seem kind’ve odd to get one for ‘The Flash’ but we’re up for anything!

download

There is also a promo shot of Barry in his updated Flash suit with the new lightening bolt insignia. It looks more protective than the regular red jumpsuit from season one so it will be cool to see it in action, especially since the Rogues seem to be stepped up this time around. Gorilla Grodd Round Two, anyone?

The upcoming second season for ‘The Flash’ premieres October 6th.

The next big export out of Japan is the ‘Attack on Titan’ live action film and its headed to North America this Fall.

The films are based on the original manga series, which has also spawned a anime series, for which a second season is currently in production. If you’re not familiar with the property, Season 1 of the anime is available for streaming on Netflix.

‘Attack on Titan- Part 1’ will receive a limited theatrical release beginning on Wednesday, September 30.  Attack on Titan – Part 2′ will debut on Tuesday, October 20.

The first trailer for 20th Century Fox’s ‘Victor Frankenstein’, starring James McAvoy in the lead role as Victor Frankenstein and Daniel Radcliffe as his protege Igor, is alive! The trailer seems to focus more on the origins of the relationship between Victor Frankenstein and Igor and the lead up to finally being able to resurrect a human body. Regardless, it looks like its going to be a fun movie.

Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number SlevinPush) directed the film from a script by Max Landis (ChronicleAmerican Ultra), both whose previous work I enjoyed.

James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe star in a dynamic and thrilling twist on a legendary tale. Radical scientist Victor Frankenstein (McAvoy) and his equally brilliant protégé Igor Strausman (Radcliffe) share a noble vision of aiding humanity through their groundbreaking research into immortality. But Victor’s experiments go too far, and his obsession has horrifying consequences. Only Igor can bring his friend back from the brink of madness and save him from his monstrous creation.

Frankenstein comes to life on November 25, 2015.

Disney Interactive’s presentation at the D23 Expo 2015 was filled with great Disney gaming news. At one point the presentation focused on Star Wars.

Disney Infinity

star wars inifinity

It was already previously announced that Star Wars was going to a be a big part of 3.0 of Infinity but the big surprise came when cast members of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ come out during the presentations to introduce their Infinity characters.

Co-stars John Boyega and Daisy Ridley gave away their character figures, Finn and Rey, for the upcoming Play Set based on the film.

In addition, select “Star Wars” figures for Disney Infinity were shown off to have light-up light sabers that light up when placed onto the Disney Infinity Base. Figures include Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Kanan Jarrus.

Star Wars Battlefront

Star wars jakuu

Concept art was revealed for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront game is DLC from ‘The Force Awakens’ called the Battle of Jakku that was previously announced during Star Wars Celebration. It will be free to download.

If pre-ordered, the DLC will be available on Dec. 1. Otherwise, gamers will have to wait until Dec. 8.

The news that had me stoked and mad at the same time was the announcement of a limited edition Darth Vader-inspired Battlefront Playstation 4. I was a PS4 hold out until last year when the all white Destiny edition was released. Now i wish i knew this was coming out because this edition is a whole lot sweeter looking.

It will be available in two separate bundles, one for Battlefront and one for Disney Infinity 3.0. to sweeten the deal even more it was also announced that both bundles would come  a digital voucher to download four classic ‘Star Wars’ titles – Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter and Star Wars Bounty Hunter – playable for the first time on PS4, with enhanced graphics and Trophy support.

The trailer for The Hateful Eight premiered today, and it looks awesome. The visuals of the snow covered mountain backdrop is just stunning. Coupled with witty Tarantino dialogue, we should expect some good times. At first glance I visually saw a cross between Reservoir Dogs and the training montage from Django Unchained.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnRbXn4-Yis

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

‘The Hateful Eight’ premiers in select theaters on Christmas Day. Nationwide on Jan. 8, 2016.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Tom Hardy has signed on to produce and star in the film adaptation of Vertigo Comics’ ‘100 Bullets’. ‘100 Bullets’ is an Eisner and Harvey Award-winning comic book written by Brian Azzarello and illustrated by Eduardo Risso, published by DC Comics under its Vertigo imprint and ran for 100 issues.

The comic book series follows Agent Graves, a mysterious man who presents strangers with a gun, one hundred rounds of untraceable ammunition and the identity of the person who ruined their life.

A new trailer for Supergirl has just been released, and it’s making me feel a bit better about the upcoming series. That first trailer left a lot to be desired since it played out more of a rom-com than anything else. This time around we get a lot more super action and decent visual effects for a CBS show. There was also a quick tease regarding supervillians that ‘Supergirl” could be potentially facing off against.

My gripe with Supergirl at this point is that it’s on CBS, which I feel may water down the show and might make it cheesy-looking. Hopefully Supergirl can get the same type of treatment that The Flash and Arrow are getting over at The CW and keep it closely connected to its comic counterpart.

Supergirl premieres on October 26.

This is pretty much exactly what you would expect from ‘Deadpool’; 4th wall-breaking commentary about the star and previous incarnation of ‘Deadpool‘ and the studio that let it happen.

I’m pretty stoked for this movie. ‘Deadpool’ is a fan favorite of the Marvel Comics Universe for his sheer craziness and his Rated R adventures. The full trailer will debut tomorrow!

Deadpool | Trailer Trailer : Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand

Deadpool’ is set to hit theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.

Beasts of No Nation‘ is Netflix’s first foray into original films. The film, based on Uzodinma Iweala’s 2005 novel of the same name, follows a young West African boy (Abraham Attah) who is forced to join a unit of mercenary fighters when a civil war tears his family apart. The boy is put to the test by the group’s Warlord (Idris Elba) who takes the boy under his wing, and molds him into a soldier.

Beasts Of No Nations‘ is scheduled to begin streaming on Oct. 16

Steve Trover wonder woman

Chris Pine has signed on to play Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot in ‘Wonder Woman’. Pine joins the DC Movie Universe in a multi-picture deal that includes sequel options. In the comics Steve Trevor serves is a primary love interest for Wonder Woman, but its being reported that he would have a much bigger role than just that in the movies.

‘Wonder Woman’ will be a part of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” as shown in that awesome Comic Con trailer due out March 25, 2016.

The ‘Wonder Woman’ solo movie hits theaters on June 23, 2017.

tommy-lee-jones-cowboys-john-wayne

Variety is reporting that Tommy Lee Jones has joined the cast for the upcoming ‘Borne’ 5 movie , stating that the role is most likely that of a superior officer at the CIA. Similar to the ones portrayed by Chris Cooper, Brian Cox, and David Strathairn in the previous ‘Bourne’ installments, meaning that Tommy Lee Jones’ character will probably be the one leading the hunt for Jason Bourne. So pretty much his character is set up for failure in this movie, since Bourne has yet to be ever caught in the film franschise. Tommy Lee Jones is not stranger to tracking down fugitives. In the role of Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard in the 90’s hits The Fugitive and U.S. Marshals, it was his task to track down fugitives that were later to be proven to be wrongly accused and set up.

Alicia Vikander and Julia Stiles are also on board to join the next installment, with Stiles reprising her role as Nicky Parsons.

‘Bourne 5’ is set to be released on July 29, 2016.

From the guys who brought you ‘This Is The End’, ‘Neighbors’, and almost ‘The Interview’ comes ‘The Night Before’. The Story follows Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen) and Chris (Anthony Mackie) who have been friends since childhood, and for a decade, their yearly Christmas Eve reunion has been an annual night of debauchery and hilarity. Now that they’re entering adulthood, the tradition is coming to an end, and to make it as memorable as possible, they set out to find the Nutcracka Ball – the Holy Grail of Christmas parties.

Seriously what could go wrong with this movie? ‘The Night Before’ hits theaters on Nov. 25

The official trailer for ‘THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – PART 2′ that premiered to rave reviews at Comic-Con is now available online!

Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Willow Shields, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Natalie Dormer, with Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 is in theaters November 20th!

Baron

British actor Jimmy Akingbola has joined Arrow Season 4 in the role of Baron Reiter, who is better know as Baron Blitzkrieg in DC Comics. The Baron is the head of the Shadowspire criminal organization, which will be the main focus of the ‘Arrow’ flashbacks, as they attempt to recruit a post-Hong Kong Oliver.

Already for Season 4 , Arrow has cast Neal McDonough (Agent Carter) as Damien Darhk, Echo Kellum (as tech whiz Mr. Terrific) and Alexander Calvert (as the villain Anarky).

Arrow season four premieres Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. on the CW.

ABC today released the first look presentation of the upcoming The Muppets. This presentation first screened back at Comic-Con, and is said to be the pitch that convinced ABC to bring The Muppets to series.

This time around, the show has been given a more adult theme, as evident with the topic of interspecies children between Fozzy Bear and his human girlfriend. The format of the clip was the camera crew/interview style reminiscent of The Office and 30 Rock, which was hilariously mocked by Gonzo. The 10 minute clip was also featured guest stars Topher Grace and Elizabeth Banks. It’s not clear if the show will include skits or musical numbers from the original Muppet Show, but here’s hoping for some Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem covers.

As a Muppets fan, I hope this is successful. I know Muppets Most Wanted couldn’t compare to Jason Segel’s The Muppets, but it still had some charm and catchy songs. I felt that it strayed so far from that first film that interest dropped, and didn’t carry the same fever to to go watch and keep them relevant. The show seems to bring it a bit back to the meta and self awareness of the first movie.

The Muppets is set to premiere this Fall!

FX Networks has just released the full trailer for the upcoming second season of their acclaimed series, “Fargo.”

The only similarities that carry over from last season, is blood, murder and mystery. The story takes place in 1979 and has venues in Sioux Falls, SD, and Luverne, MN, with a potential “botched robbery” and a Watergate name drop. Plus Ronald Reagan shows up on the 1980 campaign trail, played by Bruce Campbell. .

https://youtu.be/dFVNi8gUEy4

FX’s ‘Fargo’ has Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, Jean Smart, Nick Offerman, Brad Garrett and Kieran Culkin in the Noah Hawley-run show this time round.

Season 2 is set to premier in October.

The trailer for ‘The Good Dinosaur’ is out and it looks amazing. Inside/Out being a big success this Summer has refreshed my faith in Pixar’s ablility to produce top notch original stories and has me excited to see what it will bring to the table this time around.

That opening soundtrack to the trailer had me hooked right away, and I don’t know if it’s just a Pavlovian effect, but I was already getting emotional. Also, both the animation of the characters and the background are incredible, but juxtaposition of the different art of kept throwing me off. I’m sure I’ll get used it to once we start to hear the dialogue and have better context of whats going on and the surroundings. On the same note, I can understand that maybe seeing lifelike dinosaurs speaking will be too much like Disney’s older dino movie, Dinosaur

“The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.

The Good Dinosaur opens in theaters November 25, 2015!

Disney is putting into development a live-action remake of its 1963 animated fantasy ‘The Sword in the Stone’.

bryan-cogman-sword-in-the-stone-disney-gi

Bryan Cogman, a writer-producer on HBO’s fantasy Game of Thrones, has been tapped to write the script for the project, which is also being produced by Brigham Taylor (Jungle Book).

Disney seems to be all in producing all these live action remakes of it classic animation films. The first two live action remakes (Malificent and Cinderella) has proved to the Disney heads thay there is money in the market, prompting the most recents annoucements being an Aladdin Prequel, Dumbo, and Pinnochio. Disney has the market cornered in Live Action remakes. As long as they are entertaining and fun i’m all for it— hope these pay off.

Are you down for The Sword in the Stone remake? Sound out below!

Its that time of year again, the 67th annual Emmy Nominations have been announced!
Looks like online television is coming in full force this year, with online only shows having multiple contenders in all the top categories. With the additions of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Bloodline, it seems like Netflix is set to give HBO a run for its money. Amazon has also entered the Emmy foray with Transparent also receiving Nominations.

Inspired by the life of mythical explorer Hugh Glass, “The Revenant” focuses on one man’s (DiCaprio) adventure of survival in the early 19th century American wilderness.

The movie, which is already generating Oscar buzz, teams Leonardo DiCaprio with Oscar-winning director Alejandro G. Inarritu, who also co-wrote the film, which is based on Michael Punke’s novel of the same name. With Tom Hardy at his side, this will be Leonardo’s best chance to get the coveted Oscar. With Leo’s luck he will lose to Tom Hardy for Legends and Tom Hardy will win Best Supporting for this film.

The film opens in limited release on Christmas Day.

This weeks Entertainment Weekly is featuring X-Men: Apocalypse. On the cover we have Psylocke, Magneto, and Apocalypse and set photos of some of the cast.

We also get a  first look at new comers Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Punk Rock Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan). The returning mutants are Magneto with a new look (Michael Fassbender), Professor X (James McAvoy), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), and Quicksilver (Evan Peters) who also is sporting an official outfit. No pics of Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) though, he was probably the only thing I enjoyed about X2.

While we haven’t seen everyone in official  outfits, Storm and Psylocke seem to stick close to the the 80’s sexy outfits. I have already seen some grumblings regarding the look of Apocalypse. In one of the photos he is resembling Ivan Ooze from the Power Rangers Movie. At this point It’s really hard to judge the costumes until we see it on the big screen and in action so I’ll reserve judgement.
