Warner Bros. and Lego really brought the hype to Lego Dimensions when they revealed Year 2 at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), showing off several new franchises that will be brought to the game, including Sonic the Hedgehog, the (all female) Ghostbusters, Adventure Time and several others!

Lego-Dimensions-Wave-2-Final-Image-1024x563A list of new franchises adding on to Lego Dimensions in Year 2!

Among this new wave, Supergirl will also be entering the Lego Dimensions universe. But here’s the catch. Supergirl will be a limited edition figure added into the starter pack, meaning if you already own the game, you’ll have to purchase another starter pack just to obtain the Supergirl figure.

So far, Warner Bros. has not announced any future availability outside of the starter pack. While she will not be completely inaccessible within the game as you will be able to hire her temporarily as a hire-a-hero character, for players like me who have bought the starter pack already, this is a little frustrating to say the least.

We can always hope that Warner Bros. will make Supergirl available, even for a limited amount of time, singularly or within a team pack. But for now, the best we can do is sit tight and wait for any further updates on Year 2.

Lego Dimensions will be releasing their second season starting September 27th.

How do you feel about the exclusive add-in of Supergirl? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Supergirl

From the beginning, one of the main selling points of Lego Dimensions has been its ability to bring characters from a wide variety of franchises together under one roof. Heading into the second season of the Toys To Life title, it’s safe to say that Sonic The Hedgehog’s reveal during E3 season had to have been the most surprising, bringing one of gaming’s biggest icons into the Lego world. Hot on the heels of two new game announcements featuring the blue blur, Traveler’s Tales and WB Games have given us our first footage of Sonic in action.

Lego Dimensions Sonic Level Pack

At first glance, it’s surprising how well represented Sonic’s world is. Featuring some of the game’s iconic enemies and locations in the trailer ranging from Green Hill Zone to the city in Sonic Adventure, imagine my surprise when the developers went as far as to have the destroyed robots drop trapped animals when destroyed! Equipped with many of the attacks that have become synonymous with Sonic over the years, including the Spin Dash, Homing Attack, and the recently added dive kick, rings and robots are abound in what looks to be a faithful Level Pack. If anything, the only aspect that seems lost is the sense of speed that his actual games typically have… Assuming TT isn’t purposely basing their adaptation on Sonic Lost World. In that case, they nailed it!

But the most surreal part of watching Sonic’s trailer is seeing him explore all these other universes. I mean, Sonic in Portal. Sonic in Adventure Time. Sonic fighting side by side with the Justice League! What a time to be alive! Scheduled to be released on November 18 and packaged with his trademark Tornado biplane and Sonic Speedster, this is looking to be an interesting 12 months for Sega’s mascot.

Some of the newcomers are Adventure Time, Harry Potter, Mission Impossible, Gremlins, Goonies, and many more. Even Sonic is joining in on the fun. YES YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT! SONIC THE FREAKING HEDGEHOG HIMSELF. Not much more is known about the game whether it’s a full on sequel or just a massive expansion, but it seems like most of this stuff will be releasing this fall for PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Wii U. Are you excited about this? What franchise do you still want to see in Lego Dimensions? Tell us in the comments below!

Coming September 27th

The wondrously hyped (and extremely expensive) LEGO Dimensions seems to be the ultimate “Toys to Game” property out there. When Gandalf, Marty McFly, Batman and Chell can all run through a Portal testing chamber together, you’ve got my attention.

https://youtu.be/0GcIsM2fDTI

Our own Josh Jackson has lamented the cost prohibitve nature of LEGO Dimensions. With some of the models and expansions yielding $30 for one hour of gameplay, I have to agree.

LEGO Dimensions is currently out on all platforms, sans PC Masterrace.

Briefly: There is no way that I can pick up Lego Dimensions. The day that Nintendo’s Amiibo figures released, I decided that I would buy just one, and to this date I’ve purchased every. single. figure. I become addicted to things far too easily, and Lego Dimensions would be no different.

Which is unfortunate, because the game looks absolutely phenomenal, and mixes a ridiculous amount of properties together in an incredible amount of ways.

A new trailer for the game has just hit the web, letting us know that the always fabulous Allison Brie would be reprising the role of Unikitty in the game. It’s a hilarious new look at the game that’s going to sell a lot of Lego this holiday season. In the trailer, Alison gets pulled through the LEGO Gateway and into the digital game as Unikitty, the half unicorn, half anime kitten from Cloud Cuckoo Land, to battle alongside Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle in their quest to stop Lord Vortech and save the LEGO Multiverse.

The LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack includes a complete, mission-based The LEGO Movie level, plus The LEGO Movie Adventure World, an additional open-world environment, which can be unlocked with the Wyldstyle minifigure that comes with the game.

For fans of The LEGO Movie that want to customize their LEGO Dimensions experience, there will be a Unikitty Fun Pack with LEGO Unikitty minifigure and Cloud Cuckoo Car, an Emmet Fun Pack with a LEGO Emmet minifigure and Excavator, a Bad Cop Fun Pack with a LEGO Bad Cop minifigure and Police Car, and a Benny Fun Pack with a LEGO Benny minifigure and Spaceship. These highly collectible Fun Packs will provide new buildable characters and vehicles, as well as special in-game abilities. Every vehicle and gadget can be physically built and then rebuilt twice for a total of three different objects that do entirely different things in the digital game for massive variety.

Lego Dimensions hits PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U on September 27th.

Great Scott!

Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox are returning to their iconic roles from the Back to the Future franchise for LEGO Dimensions, releasing September 25 for all home consoles (except Ouya).

They won’t be alone, as LEGO Dimensions  has a loaded voice cast. Also reprising their roles are The Lego Movie stars Chris Pratt as Emmet, Elizabeth Banks as Wyldstyle, Alison Brie UniKitty, and Charlie Day as the hyped-up hyperspace space man Benny. The Twelfth Doctor from Doctor Who, Peter Capaldi, is also showing up.

New to LEGO are Joel McHale as X-PO and freaking Oscar-nominee Gary Oldman as the villainous Lord Vortech. Gary Oldman voicing for a LEGO video game. What a time to be alive.

With only four months left in 2015, Nintendo is planning to close the year out with a bevy of titles that will surely cripple many a bank account from coast to coast. Mario Tennis Ultra Smash and Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival have yet to receive release dates, but both games should be available this holiday season. Important to note: the long-awaited Mewtwo and Falco amiibo figures will launch November 13 and November 20 respectively.

With all these games coming out in the next four months, it is safe to say that many bank accounts will be emptied for the rest of 2015. What games will you be picking up? Let us know in the comments below and we will share your responses on this week’s episode the of Geekscape Game Podcast!

We’ve discussed the story mode coming to Lego Dimensions, but the game doesn’t end with the story, which is made obvious by the Adventure Worlds featured in one of the game’s most recent trailers!

Sure, traveling across universes in the main campaign is nice and all, but what if you want to just visit Gotham? Or the Aperture Science labs? The Emerald City? Adventure Worlds make this happen, dedicated stages that focus on one property. Promising 14 full open worlds in game with more expansions releasing separately, (including the already announced Ghostbusters set,) it’s looking like Dimensions will keep us busy for a long, long time.

The best part? Any character can be used with any world, lifting the restrictions placed by other games in the genre. The only time you *need* a character from the property the world is based on is to unlock it in the first place.

What are your thoughts? Is all of this content starting to sound like it’s worth what might be a hefty investment? And what properties do you want to see join the fray? Are there any left? Comment below, and watch the trailer to see the Adventure Worlds in action!

When i was a younger I would watch enough Television to rival Mike T.V. Among those shows thay i watched was every iteration of Scooby Doo from a Pup named Scooby Doo to the underated 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. So i was delighted to see that LEGO was adding the property to its open world game ‘LEGO Dimensions’

One of the cool things that I noticed in the gameplay video was the integration of the LEGO and cell shaded visuals of the original series. Also, unlike the other games you interchange all characters and vehicles into the different worlds. In the video I saw the Mystery Machine strolling through the Simpsons house.

The more I see from ‘LEGO Dimensions’ the more im fighting the urge to go and preorder one of the starter sets and snatch up all those cool mini figures.

‘Lego Dimensions’ starts building September 27 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Christopher Lloyd is back as Doc Brown for LEGO venture into cross worlds video gaming with ‘LEGO Dimensions’.

In ‘LEGO Dimensions’ your favorite characters from DC Comics, The Simpsons, The Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie, Back to the Future, The Wizard of Oz, Scooby Doo, Jurassic World, Ghostbusters and Doctor Who are coming together to be part of an all new immersive adventure. The last time we got this many properties together for a crossover adventure was with ‘Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue’.

LEGO enters the “toys-to-life” gaming market with the vast properties they have acquired through its regular LEGO line. I personally tried Disney Infinity 1.0. Wasn’t too much of fan of its game play mechanics and limitations. However, LEGO seems to have made numerous improvements so I may have to sneak this on to my daughter’s Christmas wishlist to give it a go.

‘Lego Dimensions’ starts building September 27 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

It’s no secret at this point that Lego Dimensions is bringing over a dozen different universes into one huge game, ranging from Scooby Doo to Doctor Who. But how exactly do these characters come together? If this question has been keeping you up at night, WB Games has released a new trailer detailing the story of the game.

Primarily featuring the characters included with the Starter Pack, Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle become caught up in a plot from an evil being who’s attempting to merge their worlds together. If you needed a sample of just how much we can expect from Lego’s Toys To Life game, the trailer includes appearances from Robin, Bane, Frodo, The Wizard Of Oz‘s Emerald City, Superman, Metropolis, Scooby Doo and so much more. Check it out below!

What do you think? Is seeing all these characters coming together as surreal to you as it is to us? And who else did you spot that we might have missed? Tell us in the comments, and make sure to check back for more Lego Dimensions news as we get closer to its Septebmer 29th release date.

Between Skylanders, Disney Infinity and Amiibo, all three formats have made a killing through selling their versions of game compatible toys, with the latter creating a full blown Amiibogeddon. Considering the wild success of these Toys To Life franchises, it was only a matter of time before the Lego brand decided to take their own crack at the genre.

Lego Dimensions Screen 3

Longtime Lego game developer Traveler’s Tales hopes to bring their platforming prowess and trademark charm to Lego Dimensions, a title that brings numerous worlds together to create one huge collectable gaming experience. Including series’ such as the DC Universe, The Lord Of The Rings, The Simpsons, Back To The Future, Portal, (as in Valve’s Portal,) and so many more, will we have room on our shelves, (and enough money in the bank,) to open up to a fourth collection? We were invited to get some hands on time with the game at San Diego Comic Con to find out if its worth it.

The demo was a strange mash up of characters that we would never have imagined would share a game together. Try to picture this; Gandalf, Scooby Doo, Batman, the 13th Doctor from Doctor Who, Portal protagonist, Chell, and The Lego Movie‘s Wyldstyle, (with a cameo from Homer Simpson), running through one of GLaDOS’ test chambers, complete with her taunts through the PA system and adorable turrets who look to rip you to shreds. Yet, in the world that Lego Dimensions has established, it makes perfect sense. What was especially noticeable about having so many characters on screen at once was the fact that unlike other games in the genre that typically restrict you to two characters at a time, you can bring in as many characters and vehicles as you can fit on the portal.

Lego Dimensions Banner

On the subject of the portal itself, this base is divided into three sections. The back section is where the world is placed, which much like Infinity‘s Play Sets, is a piece that unlocks the single player world that players will traverse through. Characters and vehicles littered the left and right side in front of it, but this set up wasn’t just for show. Some puzzles required the characters to grow bigger or smaller depending on the situation, which was achieved through moving each Lego person onto the respective side that was assigned the proper power. Using the base as part of the game play is an interesting idea, one that brings a level of interactivity to the game that its competing titles lack.

lego_dimensions_7_605x

Yet, despite these unique features, the core game play is exactly what we’ve come to expect from a Travelers Tales Lego game. The platforming, movement, stage progression and even combat felt almost exactly like any one of the many Lego titles that have hit the market over the last ten years. So if you pick this up, expect to fill a stud meter, destroy objects in the environment to rebuild them into new items and solve character specific puzzles. The advantage that Lego Dimensions has however, is that unlike the standalone games that typically have a half a dozen character types that have unique puzzle solving abilities, this one has the potential to offer many more than than. Chell for example, is the only character that can use the Portal Gun, which was necessary to transport the team from one spot to another at times.

Lego Dimensions Screen 1

With so many characters already announced, I can only imagine what kind of possibilities they might bring to the game. Then again, more characters means more money to spend, so we hope you have that cash ready! At the very least, each game piece doubles as a real Lego set, so once you finish the game, the fun can continue by making new objects with the pieces provided and integrate them with the rest of your real sets. Or you can just display them, if you’re more like the Will Ferrell type. Either way, gamers and collectors alike will want to keep their eyes peeled and their imaginations open when Lego Dimensions launches on September 29th, with the starter set bundled with Batman, Gandalf, Wyldstyle and the Batmobile priced at $99.99.
