I never would have thought in a million years I would EVER write a title like that. It’s really something that boggles the mind. You really can’t create a mental image. Luckily for you, we’ve collected the three insane PSA’s from the LA Metro’s official YouTube channel. The three shorts were all directed by talented Mike Diva. Yes, THAT. Mike. Diva.

Check them all out below!

Trouble Creek, created by Stacey K. Black, is a mystery drama with crime and supernatural elements. Answers to questions aren’t necessarily answered, which is okay. The show begins in the middle of a missing person case, which revolves around a missing little girl. Sheriff Stone Geary, is reminded of his past as a Detroit Police Officer, when bones of a body float to the top of a creek. The ugly secrets that the town and it’s occupants have are introduced with the characters. The secrets unfold as the story does, adding layers to the already complicated and well written characters. Some story lines don’t answer every question that the viewer may have, in fact, more questions might arise. Never to fear, plenty is explained as the story unfolds over it’s seven acts.

Sheriff Geary, played by Jason Gedrick moved to the small town after his time on the Detroit Police force came to an abrupt end. His fiancee, Miss Amelia Valentine, played by Crystal Lott, finds herself exploring her own dark side and falls under the spell of temptation and all that it entails, when a new, young, student is enrolled. Then there is the house that can be easily described as creepy which it’s new occupants become aware of, along with the supernatural that reside in it’s history.

This show has it’s moments where plot points, or at least one in particular, is not a matter of if it happens, but when. The underlying question of ‘Will this girl be found?’ weighs heavy. The audience is treated to moments that are surprising, expected, and all around enjoyable to watch. There are moments where the audience could ask themselves, ‘Well, what’s going to happen next?’ and the act is over. So they move onto the next one quickly. Unlike most TV on the web nowadays, Trouble Creek will not take up your entire day, nor will it consume you for days at a time. Maybe an hour of your day will be devoted to this show. And it is an enjoyable hour.

This show can be easily described as a crime drama, but unlike most crime dramas, this story has no apparent villain, no one is being chased, there is no motive, and the formula that most crime dramas follow is not put into play here. All that these characters have are their personal stories, how this little girl affects their day to day, if it affects them at all, and how life simply moves on while others don’t.  A parent’s worry, anguish, and wonder is brought out in the grieving parents who don’t know if their daughter is alive or dead. A town sheriff who has the responsibility in finding this girl dead or alive, the latter more hopeful than the former. And the new comers who have no idea what they stumbled into.

The town plagued by dark secrets was brought to YouTube by Stacey K. Black, who has directed episodes of Major Crimes, NCIS: New Orleans, and The Closer. The series is executive produced by Ms. Black and Shea Butler, and the duo also took turns at directing the episodes.

Trouble Creek can be found on YouTube.com, streaming now. Check out the trailer down below.

We’re just 29 days from the most wonderful time of the year (Thursday, December 1st if you don’t feel like counting)!

What? No! Not Christmas. I’m talking about the 2016 Game Awards hosted by Geoff Keighly. Ever since ditching that awful Spike sponsorship back in 2013, The Game Awards only grows stronger every year. In fact, Last year was a treat since some of us here from Geekscape got to attend the show live. It really is a magical night.

So how can you watch it? Easy! Almost anywhere. That’s right, You can either purchase a ticket to the awards show right here or you can check out the list of websites and services below that will be hosting it when it goes live next month. Not only will you be able to enjoy the show from all the listed websites below, but for the very first time, the show will finally be airing in China and even in VR!! How awesome is that!
the-game-awards-2016Are you excited for The Game Awards? What kind of announcements are you hoping on seeing there? Tell us in the comments below, and make sure to stay locked to Geekscape.net on any updates.

Briefly: Wizards of the Coast today revealed today revealed that its upcoming documentary, Enter The Battlefield – Life on the Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour will arrive on both Netflix and YouTube on April 26th.

The feature-length documentary follows “the stories of seven Magic players across a season: Reid Duke, Owen Turtenwald, William Jensen, Shahar Shenhar, Patrick Chapin, Melissa DeTora, and Chris Pikula. While their goal for every game is to defeat their opponent, their life on the Pro Tour is about personal goals. More than anyone, they compete with themselves.”

I’ve played Magic on and off for about 15 years at this point (that switch has sadly been in the off state for the past few years), and a look into the lives of the game’s very best players sounds incredibly interesting. You can take a look at the trailer below, and be sure to let us know if you plan to watch!

Magic: The Gathering players, is now a good time to jump back into the game? Let me know in the comments below!

Youtube stars Tyler Oakley and Korey Kühl arrive on Geekscape to talk about their new film ‘Snervous’! Tyler also talks about his new book ‘Binge’ and how its (almost) undefeated rise to the top of the New York Times Best Sellers list. While we’re at it, we talk about the loss of David Bowie and how Tyler really should watch ‘Labyrinth’. Plus, we try and decide which Star Wars droids are the gayest and Will discusses the ups and down’s of TV’s ‘Supergirl’! It’s all on this week’s Geekscape! Enjoy!

Super Mario Maker has been out for a little over two weeks and is showing no signs of slowing down.

It seems like all around the world people are engulfed in the Mario Maker Phenomenon. YouTube channel 8-Bit Gaming,  known most for their theories on the popular horror game Five Nights At Freddy’s, Have decided to branch out a bit and tackle some Nintendo games such as Yoshi’s Woolly World, and of course, Super Mario Maker. In  their newest video, they put out a call to Takashi Tezuka and the other Mario Maker devs challenging them to complete their own hand made course. The team of course accepted the challenge and the end result is pretty funny. Take a look at the video below.

This is also a great time to announce that I’ll be testing out a new segment for the site called: Mario Maker Course Of The Week. Every Friday, I’ll highlight a level from Super Mario Maker that I think has a clever idea to it or is just fun to play. If anyone has a suggestion for a level you think should be highlighted, make sure to comment the name of the course and it’s course I.D in the comments below.

Briefly: As an avid Amiibo hunter, this video was too hilarious not to share.

Many readers will remember the famous Pokérap from the insanely popular anime series, and YouTube creator D-Piddy has taken the gotta-catch-’em-all mentality of many Amiibo collectors and created the perfect mix of the two.

Take a look below, and get ready to have the tune in your head forever. You’re welcome, and I’m sorry.

Tucker Garborg is a High School student who made this hilarious short film about a kid who is in charge of the concession stand. The following seven minutes is probably the best Wes Anderson movie I have ever seen. Adderall is written, directed and edited all by Mr. Garborg himself!

Well this sounds incredible.

Legendary Entertainment YouTube Spaces, and Guillermo Del Toro have just announced an amazing collaboration called the YouTube Space House of Horrors: A Legendary Halloween Initiative.

The initiative will allow YouTube creators in Los Angeles, LondonTokyo and New York to create original videos on terrifying cinematic sets inspired by Guillermo del Toro as part of a special global programming event on YouTube. Here’s all the info straight from the release:

From September 22 – October 28, 2014, YouTube creators will write, shoot and edit their scariest videos at the YouTube Spaces. As well as appearing on individual creator channels, all content will appear on the YouTube Spaces channel, the official Legendary YouTube channel and promoted through social media platforms. Videos are slated to go live between October 21 and Halloween.

In celebration of his return to horror with the upcoming Crimson Peak, master of ceremonies, Guillermo del Toro, will select his scariest videos to come out of each region and provide a personal rough-cut creative consultation with the creators.

One lucky talent will even be offered a development deal from Legendary Entertainment, which is an absolutely mind-blowing opportunity. Want to see the sets? Here is some concept art:

HauntedGarden

GreatRoom

The Guillermo del Toro-inspired sets vary by Space but may include a Great Room from an old manor house lined with walls of books, a sinister staircase and Gothic windows that lead out to a haunted garden; a room filled with exotic & occult artifacts from around the world; an abandoned Solarium cluttered with over-grown plants, birdcages and weathered tools; a claustrophobic Attic with foreboding art, dusty mirrors and a hidden trap door.

Here’s some further info, straight from the man himself:

It’s an amazing opportunity, and I really, really can’t wait to see what comes of it.

Briefly: Guardians of the Galaxy is awesome. A ton of you saw the movie this past weekend, and a lot of you probably saw it more than once (I’m definitely in that camp, and I’ll probably see it again before it leaves theatres).

Did you know that Star Lord’s ship, the Milano, is largely physical and doesn’t actually utilize a lot of CGI? At least on the inside, that is. In a very Cribs-esque video, Guardians star Chris Pratt shows us around the surprisingly detailed environment.

Take a look at the short video below, and let us know what you think! What was your favourite part of the film?

Miss our shenanigans from the red carpet? Check them out below!

Briefly: Two days ago we debuted a brand new Geekscape episode in which Jonathan, Shane O’Hare, our new friend Stanley Wong and I talk about our experiences at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. For Jonathan and me, however, our geek spring break began one day earlier when we attended the world premiere of Marvel’s latest, Guardians of the Galaxy.

You can listen to the episode (in which I don’t really understand how a microphone works and am entirely too quiet throughout) for our full thoughts on the film, but you can also check out the video below to see just how much fun we had.

Jonathan is no stranger to selfies (my Facebook feed is constantly flooded with them), and he decided to go for some video selfies with the Guardians stars as well as some of the other celebrities walking down the red carpet. The results are pretty hilarious (especially the reaction from Elizabeth Henstridge).

Take a look at the video below, and be sure to subscribe and share if you enjoy it! We’ve got plenty more coming down the pipeline, so stay tuned!

Looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy? Sound out below!

It’s no secret that thanks to its recent revival, Sailor Moon is a hot topic amongst geeks the world over. So when you’re a a talented artist or animator, what’s the best way to celebrate the series coming back into the limelight? Naturally, you recreate one of the original series’ most interesting episodes with over 200 different animation styles, right?

That’s what Moon Animate Make Up set out to do in late 2013, and the result is fantastic. Throughout the 23 minute episode, we’re treated to Western style animation, Japanese anime style animation that fits closely to the original, we get crude art that looks like it was taken from an episode of Ren and Stimpy. We got puppets, people. Puppets! They even animated the Sailor Says segment at the end! Bonus points for using one of my favorite episodes as the subject.

You just have to watch the video for yourself if you have a half hour to spare. And if you don’t, make one. You’ll thank us later.

Briefly: This is damn cool.

While we may never see the most powerful heroes and villains from Marvel and DC face off against each other on film, television or in the comics, it has happened 4 times already in Super Power Beat Down. DC currently has the upper hand having won 3 of 4 against its Marvel counterparts. Superman got the best of Thor while Nightwing took down Gambit and Batman overpowered Deadpool. Marvel’s only win was a clash of titans as Wolverine became the first competitor to win twice in bringing Batman to his knees – marking the only time a DC character has lost. Marvel, meanwhile is just 3-3 in the series.

Today, in the 12th episode of this popular series, Marvel has another chance as the two biggest gun-toting vigilantes in their respective universes will go head-to-head in a deadly brawl – Red Hood vs. Punisher.

Who do you think will win? Take a look at the video below and find out!

The Raiders Guys are back!

We hosted Chris and Eric back in 2012, just as Alan Eisenstock’s awesome tell-all book was hitting store shelves. The duo is well known as the creators of the ‘best fan film ever made’, as they took seven years (yep, seven) of their childhood to painstakingly recreate almost every shot of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Here’s more info about the film, via the trailer for the book:

Chris and Eric shot every single scene, and every single stunt from the film, minus one. Eric explains “The Flying Wing Scene.   Yep, that awesome sequence where Indy fights the bald Nazi under the moving airplane.  In our ten years of screenings, people have been urging us to do it.  And so, the idea of adding the ultimate mythological bookend to our childhood saga has brought us back together – the team is stronger than ever.  ”

Now, after 25 years, and as a set piece for Jeremy Coon’s upcoming documentary about the adaptation, Chris, Eric, and the rest of the Raiders Adaptation crew want to complete the film… but they need our help. They would love to hit their stretch goal of $125,000, but their Kickstarter goal is a meager $50,000, and with 29 days to go they’re already over 10% of the way there.

As always, there are amazing rewards up for grabs here, including digital downloads of the film (old and new editions), DVD’s, books, t-shirts, storyboards, even props or a screening in your city.

Check out the Kickstarter video for the campaign below, and let us know if you’ll be backing this incredible project. Have you had a chance to see the adaptation yet?

Briefly: We’re now hours into YouTube Geek Week’s Gaming Thursday, and I’ve just watched another absolutely hilarious video that’s simply too good not to share.

I’m not an Animal Crossing player myself, but I do know what it’s all about. Plus, the fact that I haven’t seen my 3DS since New Leaf launched in June means that I do have people close to me who are under its astonishing spell.

“Friends With Animals” features two suburban dads who are a little too obsessed with the game. It’s a rap video like no other, and one that had my New Leaf addicted girlfriend in stitches throughout. Take a look at the video below, and head here to see everything else that Gaming Thursday has to offer!

As 12 year olds growing up in Mississippi in the 1980s, Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala first saw ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’. Their lives would be changed forever as they set out over the next 7 years to remake the Spielberg classic shot for shot. Now known as “the best fan film ever made”, ‘Raiders: The Adaptation’ has been seen by thousands and celebrated around the world. I sat down with Chris and Eric to talk about making the film, how it changed their lives, the new book that documents their entire journey and more!

Today I came across a mysterious video put up on Playstations YouTube account. It is the sequel to an even more mysterious video posted on the 18th. Lets take a peak at “The Reload” and “The Arrival”.

Lets go back and deconstruct what we see. In the first video there isn’t much there, we are greeted by a tough, solemn looking lady who is holding a gun. She appears to be at a hotel front desk, when a stranger off screen can be heard walking in. The sound electricity popping can be heard quickly after.

In the second video we see the same lady typing a letter in a foreign looking language, one that reminds me of “WingDings” font from MS-Word. A jeep arrives outfront and she proceeds to unlock a gate for the driver.

What does this all mean? Well my best guess is that these are ads for Playstation Allstars Battle Royale. The first video we can assume that the electricity man is Cole MacGrath from the inFamous games and the second guy is most likely Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series.

The date at the end you ask? Well it coincides with the public beta of Playstations Allstars Battle Royale. So if this is any else, you can color me shocked. I will be sure to keep you updated when more of these mysteries come out.

‘Generic Girl’ producer Victor Solis came by the Geekscape Comikaze booth to talk about ‘Generic Girl’ making its way to Youtube! A love letter to the positive aspects of comics, and the classic Adam West ‘Batman’ TV show, I think it’s a series worth watching! Also, Victor tells us about a brand new initiative to give Jack Kirby the recognition he deserves!

Sifl and Olly creator Liam Lynch sits down with me to talk about the return of Sifl and Olly, this time reviewing made up videogames on Machinima! Liam discusses making up fake games to parody, what real games he’s playing and how it feels to bring Sifl and Olly back after 8 years! We also talk about Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny, what other projects he has swimming around Hollywood and just how awesome of a game Red Dead Redemption is! Plus a ton more!

Tim and Sax take a look at what’s coming up at this years Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo with special guest Regina Carpinelli. We’ve got the 411 on all the guests, special events, and surprises in store for the second year of this wildly successful convention. Listen close folks as we may have some information you can’t get anywhere else. Stay tuned for information on where you can catch Tim and Sax at the Con as well as more on upcoming Fandom Planet events.

Also this:

I sit down with actor, writer, social media philosopher John Cabrera to talk about his new web series H+, from producer Bryan Singer. What is H+? What is post-humanism? Is it already happening? Are we becoming too dependent on our social media and digital tools? What is the cost of progress? Will Bryan Singer ever give John an X-Mans? These are just some of the many topics explored with my new friend on this episode of Geekscape!

It’s a Deadman’s Party as the producers and star of the fan film “Requiem for a Deadman” join Tim and Sax. Producer and AVN Award Winner Nicki Hunter (“Naughty Office 19”) and  writer/star Wes Calimer (“Cutting Veggies”) discuss their labor of love and the hard road they encountered bringing Arnold Drake’s and Carmine Infantino’s baby to live-action. We discuss the relation between pornography fans and comics geeks (there isn’t much) as well as the benefits of kickstarter versus sponsorship. Learn what it takes to create a live-action version of a fan favorite comic book.

Stan Lee announced the lineup of his new World of Heroes YouTube channel on Thursday, and despite being about as diverse as you can get in tone and style, every show does seem to fit Lee’s mandate of showing a “different side of herodom.”

Here’s the lowdown:

Geek Therapy
A scripted show starring America Young as a shrink specializing in nerdy neuroses.

Fan Wars
A sort of People’s Court in which Judge Jace Hall presides over fan debates such as who would win in a fight between the Avengers and the X-Men. Viewers will recognize the format from Lewis Black’s late Root of All Evil. The courtroom setting differentiates it slightly from the Nerdist channel’s Tournament of Nerds.

Bad Days
What happens when Batman locks his keys in the Batmobile? Find out in this series of bite-size cartoon vignettes showing all those times things don’t go quite right for our favorite heroes.

Geek DIY
Craftswoman extraordinaire Bonnie Burton (“Admiral Sackbar”) invites famous friends to join her as she takes on new fan-related projects.

Stan’s Rants
Stan Lee gets all up in your face to let you know exactly what he is thinking about a current development in the comics world and beyond.

Academy of Superheroes
A reality competition show in which aspiring real-life superheroes (yes, really!) learn everything they need to know from celebrity guest instructors.

SuperFans
Adrianne Curry visits and interviews real fanboys and girls around the country whose obsessions have taken over their lives and homes.

Chatroom of Solitude
Jeff Lewis, Phil Lamarr, and others portray supervillains who communicate (squabble and talk trash) over Skype. The hilarious highlight of the previews. NSFW.

Super.Model
An action series about a fashion model with super powers.

Head Cases
Peter David is still writing this sitcom he describes as Cheers with superheroes.

Looks like friend of Geekscape, Thomas Jane wants another shot at playing The Punisher. He and his friends went so far as to make a short film to prove why that might actually be a good idea.

Jane has this to say on the YouTube page:

“I wanted to make a fan film for a character I’ve always loved and believed in – a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It’s been a blast to be a part of from start to finish — we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

I got chills watching this.

It’s trailer day apparently between this and Skyfall. You might be surprised to be seeing a trailer for a cinematic and profound film (and dare I say pretentious) movie such as The Master appearing on Geekscape. But here at Geekscape, we honor all types of geeks, from video games to film fanboys.  As a film fanboy, I think this movie looks stellar. You might remember Paul Thomas Anderson as the guy who did a little movie called There Will Be Blood in 2007. Oh… and Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love, Boogie Nights and Hard Eight.

Can we just give him some Oscar nominations now?

Chris Hardwick is a- wait. Am I really explaining to you who Chris Hardwick is? Why would I do that? You probably already know who he and what his Nerdist brand are all about (unless you live in a cave)! In this episode, Chris and I talk about the formation of Nerdist, the new Nerdist Youtube channel, how he deals with criticism and a lot more. As someone who’s been skeptical of Chris in the past, I found him to be immediately personable, even opening up about some of the more difficult parts of his life. And he’s absolutely, undeniably a legit geek! I loved our conversation, was impressed by his complete honesty and am absolutely a convert and fan. I hope you agree! Oh, and subscribe to his channel already! They’ve got Farscape on it! FARSCAPE!

Find it on iTunes

On a panel at WonderCon today, Chris Hardwick announced the premiere lineup of shows for the Nerdist YouTube Channel, launching April 2.

Featuring a plethora of personalities doing the shows they are truly interested in making, the Nerdist Channel will be taking full advantage of the freedom offered on the Internet. Hardwick himself will host “All-Star Bowling”, a celebrity charity bowling show. On “Face to Face”, comedy music legend Weird Al Yankovic will do hard-hitting interviews with celebrities. Presumably, “Neil Patrick Harris Dreaming In Puppets” will be roughly what it sounds like and “An Insane New Project from Rob Zombie” will be exactly that.

You’ll also see some familiar faces as Nerdist will be bringing back some incarnation of classic shows “Kids In The Hall” and “Farscape“. Popular podcasts “Indoor Kids”, “Comic Book Club Live”, and “Star Talk with Neil Degrasse Tyson” will get the TV show treatment, as will Internet staple “Ain’t It Cool News“.

The Nerdist Channel will be producing a lot of original content as well. Cosplay enthusiasts can look forward to “Just Cos” while “Tournament of Nerds” will feature hilarious debates over which classic pop culture characters would win in a fight. “Four Points” will tackle hot topics from multiple angles. A number of other originals featuring cartoons, puppets, and interns are set to launch, with more shows to be announced at a later date.

Hardwick pledges that the Nerdist network will make full use of its nascent format, catering to a variety of niche audiences rather than playing to the lowest common denominator and including viewer feedback in creative decisions. For more info and puppets, check out the video press conference here.
