NIS America holds an annual press shindig in San Francisco, California, and for the first time, the event will be broadcast live on the company’s Twitch channel! The festivities begin at 7pm Pacific/ 10pm Eastern on Friday, February 17.

What can we expect the Press Event? Here is what has been teased so far:

[via Miketendo64.com]

In an email sent out to attendees, NIS America stated that they have “five new games to announce and maybe even release dates for our first game on Switch and a game featuring an adorable black and white bear.” Now, I don’t know about you but that bear sounds a lot like Monokuma from the Danganronpa series to me. GoNintendo hypothesized that the yet-to-be revealed 3DS game is RPG Maker FES, which was recently announced for localization in Australia.

To keep up to date on the NISA Press Event 2017, head on over to their dedicated Facebook page. Do you plan on watching? Let us know in the comments!

We’re just 29 days from the most wonderful time of the year (Thursday, December 1st if you don’t feel like counting)!

What? No! Not Christmas. I’m talking about the 2016 Game Awards hosted by Geoff Keighly. Ever since ditching that awful Spike sponsorship back in 2013, The Game Awards only grows stronger every year. In fact, Last year was a treat since some of us here from Geekscape got to attend the show live. It really is a magical night.

So how can you watch it? Easy! Almost anywhere. That’s right, You can either purchase a ticket to the awards show right here or you can check out the list of websites and services below that will be hosting it when it goes live next month. Not only will you be able to enjoy the show from all the listed websites below, but for the very first time, the show will finally be airing in China and even in VR!! How awesome is that!
the-game-awards-2016Are you excited for The Game Awards? What kind of announcements are you hoping on seeing there? Tell us in the comments below, and make sure to stay locked to Geekscape.net on any updates.

Briefly: Don’t you guys dig Kenny Craig? He’s been a part of Geekscape since way back when we were part of the Toadhop Network, and when we left we loved him so much that we took him with us. Now, you can hear Kenny chat with Ben and our fearless leader (plus guests) every week on TRadioV.

If you like what the man has to say (and who doesn’t), you can also watch him stream on twitch pretty much all the time. He’s super active, has fantastic interaction with his viewers, and often hosts rad giveaways as well!

Currently, Kenny’s playing through Techland’s Dying Light, which I (Derek) fell in love with back in January and have had a hard time putting down ever since (check out my written review right here). We’ll be uploading highlights of his streams to the GeekscapeTV YouTube channel (where you’ll also find Paul London:Hero of the Prophecy, Hollywood Viceand much more), so take a look at Part 1 of Kenny’s Dying Light walkthrough below, and  keep an eye out for many more Wheelchair Walkthroughs in the future!

In an update today, Twitch has put the final nail in a very annoying coffin.

It is now against their terms of service for game streamers to wear clothing that is sexually suggestive.

Wearing no clothing or sexually suggestive clothing – including lingerie, swimsuits, pasties, and undergarments – will most likely get you suspended, as well as any full nude torsos*, which applies to both male and female broadcasters. You may have a great six-pack, but that’s better shared on the beach during a 2-on-2 volleyball game blasting “Playing with the Boys.”

* If it’s unbearably hot where you are, and you happen to have your shirt off (gents) or a bikini top (ladies), then just crop the webcam to your face. If your lighting is hot, get fluorescent bulbs to reduce the heat. Xbox One Kinect doesn’t zoom? Move it closer to you, or turn it off. There is always a workaround.

Gone are the live streams of girls playing games with two push up bras and a high angled camera. Gone are the days of Mega64 dancing around in their underwear. You will both be missed.

This is the second major update to their ToS that appears to be a push from their new Amazon overlords. The first being streamers need to fully disclose if anything they are doing is part of a paid campaign.

I feel these are both great moves that legitimatizes live streaming as a viable business, while not pandering to mouth breathing neckbeards.

Twitch Plays Pokemon started off simple enough. An emulator of Pokemon Red that can be controlled by each person in the chat seemed amusing enough, right? Well, millions of users and countless memes later, and all of a sudden, the initial run became a phenomenon of its own. Part of the appeal was to see if the game could be completed with so many people issuing commands… Especially when many of those were purposely trying to sabotage it. By some miracle, Red zigzagged his way to the Elite Four and finally beat the champion after 16 days. And it was all thanks to these guys!

Twitch Plays Pokemon Season 1 Cast

Lord Helix led his followers to victory, and the story ended on a happy note. But what stories await us in the second season?

Yep, after completing the first game, Twitch STILL wants to play Pokemon with Pokemon Crystal. While I feel that any story crafted out of the new game will feel a lot more forced than the hilariously awesome tale that grew of the first game, it’ll be interesting to see what the users come up with, especially since we’ve been graced with the resurrection of Bird Jesus.

Jumping in on the fun is as easy as hopping in over at Twitch’s page for the game. If you want to get caught up on the amazing story about the war between the gods of anarchy and democracy, an All Terrain Venomoth that grew into a dragon slayer, and a Rattata named Jay Leno, you can relive the tale at this nifty summary page. Until then, let’s head over to the new page and see what kind of chaos we can create!

Briefly: Twitch streaming is coming to the Xbox One, but Microsoft has just revealed that it won’t be ready for launch:

We know the ability to instantly broadcast gameplay is something the gaming community is excited about, and we are too. We are working to ensure the initial Twitch on Xbox One broadcasting experience meets the expectations of the Twitch community, so while this feature won’t be available right away, we’ll let you know as soon as it is ready. Our goal is to deliver it during the first part of 2014.

If it’s a better product because of the delay, is a few months of waiting such a big deal? You will be using the service for, like, eight years, after all.

Microsoft also revealed some cool achievements for the service. Here’s what you’ll need to do to unlock them:

-Watch one hour of live video on Twitch to become a Newcomer

-Watch 10 hours of live video on Twitch for Competitive

-Watch 100 hours of live video on Twitch for Best Viewer

-Watch one hour of live video on Twitch channels that have less than 10 viewers to be the Hipster

-Watch 10 hours of live video on Twitch channels that have less than 10 viewers and become the Talent Scout

Max Bandwidth is received by watching a single channel on Twitch for more than eight hours consecutively

Around The Clock is exactly that, just watch at least one minute of live video on Twitch in each hour of a full day

Prime Time, simply: watch a total of 10 hours of live video on Twitch between peak viewing hours from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., on a weekday

Are you disappointed to hear that you won’t be streaming at launch, or is it not a big deal for you? Sound out below!
