Briefly: Alright, so this video is completely in Japanese and I don’t understand Japanese whatsoever.

So… most of it is lost on me.

But what’s pretty clear here regardless of the language that you speak, is that a new Hot Shots Golf title is in the works for PS4.

The game is slated to release on PS4 in Japan in 2016, and while a North American release hasn’t been confirmed thus far, I’m pretty confident we’ll be getting our hands on it too.

I’ve been playing the series since the PSX days, and after feeling all of the nostalgic feelings from this video, I’m more than ready to jump back in on my PS4.

Kingdom Hearts 2-8 (2)

Sony held a press conference  to focus on upcoming titles for its Japanese library. Square Enix took the opportunity to announce ‘Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue’. Probably what fans didn’t want to hear but at least we are getting closed to the eventual release of Kingdom Hearts 3.

Kingdom Hearts 2-8 (5)

The game’s main feature will be Dream Drop Distance, the 3DS release that leads up to the Kingdom Hearts III. A game that i am still currently playing for the 3DS. The remake will also contain two new episodes: ‘Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover’ and ‘Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth By Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage’. The former is a new HD movie  that connects the earlier parts of the series’ history, which Kingdom Hearts Unchained x [chi] details, and reveals more on the Foretellers. The latter takes place after Birth By Sleep’s storyline, and is told from Aqua’s perspective.

Kingdom Hearts 2-8

I’m a big fan of the Kingdom Hearts series and have been dreaming of when we could part 3 on to the next-gen systems. I personally wont get the remakes since i’m not even done with 3DS version.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue’ is going to be released exclusively for the PS4 sometime in 2016.

Yesterday we shared with you the live action trailer for the up coming Destiny expansion The Taken King. I still stand by my critique of the trailer. Bad dialogue and inappropriate music. (We go into it at length on the Geekscape Games Podcast). Well it looks like we may have gotten the live action trailer we wanted, but only if you’re in Japan.

https://youtu.be/MsmZ1Qu7x34

The video stars popular Japanese actor Ryo Katsuji, who is apparently a pretty big fan of Destiny. If you can read moonspeak, check out the Japanese Playstation/Destiny page for a little behind the scenes interview with Ryo.

As I was watching the Japanese version I was totally enamored with it, but on reflection I’m not totally sure. I may just be looking at it with weaboo eyes; who knows if this is on the same level of cringe as the English live action trailers.

Regardless, I like this one WAY more. Stay weird Japan. Stay weird.

Briefly: That leaked Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End release date from a few weeks back?

Well, it was off. But it wasn’t off by much.

Sony today officially revealed just when we’ll be able to step back into Nathan Drake’s shoes, and it’s just six months away: March 18th, 2016.

Deluxe and collector’s editions of the game have also been revealed:

SpecialThe special edition will include cost $79.99 US ($99.99 CAD), and include:

-Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Blu-ray Disc
-Collectible Steelbook case designed by Alexander “That Kid Who Draws” Iaccarino
-48-page hardcover art book by Dark Horse and Naughty Dog
-Naughty Dog & Pirate Sigil sticker sheet
-Naughty Dog Points: A pack of in-game currency to unlock various multiplayer content

CollectorThe collector’s edition runs $119.99 US, and includes:

-A 12″ premium Nathan Drake statue by Gentle Giant
-Three multiplayer outfits: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Heist Drake, and Desert Drake outfits
-Two custom weapon skins: Golden Weapon Skin and Desert Weapon Skin
-Henry Avery Sigil ball cap
-Madagascar Sidekick outfits

So just six months to think about which edition you’d like to buy. Are you looking forward to the March release? What do you hope to see in the fourth and likely not at all final game in the series?

Briefly: All of us were pretty bummed out back in March when Sony revealed that its highly anticipated exclusive Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was being pushed into 2016.

Naughty Dog’s been pretty quiet on that subject since that day, and though the E3 demo was beyond impressive, all we want to know is when we can play the damned thing.

Take it with a grain of salt, but the game’s released date may have been leaked by Amazon Germany.

A reddit user received an email from the company, which contained a hard release date of March 9th, 2016. This falls right in the window that Naughty Dog gave us, and while it could be an error on Amazon’s part, it could also legitimately be the date that we’re able to continue Nathan’s journey.

Are you looking forward to the game? What do you hope to see in it? Sound out below!

Briefly: Well, this is a good way to move some additional PS4 units.

During Disney’s amazing D23 expo, Sony took to the stage to reveal a duo of awesome upcoming PS4 bundles.

Now, I’ve owned a PS4 since launch day, and the unit is basically impossible to see in my entertainment unit, but I have half a mind to replace it with this fantastic special edition. Just look at the damned thing:

DarthVaderBundleThat’s probably the best looking limited edition PS4 that we’ve seen thus far (and yes, I’m including the slick-as-hell white Destiny unit).

The bundles will be available on November 17th (with pre-order information coming soon). Both bundles will include the Darth Vader 500gb console, a slick controller modelled after Vader’s chest panel, and a Star Wars Classics download code, which includes Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter and Star Wars Bounty Hunter (playable for the first time on PS4, and sporting enhanced graphics and Trophy support).

Where the bundles differ? One will include the Star Wars Battlefront digital deluxe edition, and the other will come with a physical copy of Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, the Disney Infinity Base, the Rise Against the Empire Play Set Pack (featuring Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa figures, as well the Rise Against the Empire Play Set piece), and the Boba Fett figure (which is exclusive to PlayStation through this holiday).

So, which one are you going for? PS4 owners, do you regret not waiting for this special edition console? Sound out below!

Shenmue 3 wrapped up its Kickstarter in spectacular fashion, closing out at $6.33 million. This total makes the continuation of Yu Suzuki’s Dreamcast epic the highest funded game in the crowdfunding website’s history. Not bad for a game many in the industry thought didn’t have a big enough audience!

Following its announcement at Sony’s E3 2015 press conference, Shenmue 3 adds this latest accolade to its growing list of accomplishments, including becoming the fastest game to reach $1 million and the second fastest project amongst all categories to do so after a mere two hours of its launch. In addition to Sony already commiting to helping fund development for the PS4 version, it seems like what seemed like nothing more than a pipe dream might hit our consoles and PC as early as December 2017.

Still, producing Shenmue might still be an uphill battle, considering that the first game was infamously in the $70 million range to develop in 1999.  Considering developing a game of this nature now should be cheaper, it remains to be seen if Suzuki and his team are going to give it all the modern bells and whistles that could skyrocket the final cost.

Either way, we’re just excited that the game is finally coming. Will Ryo avenge his father and defeat Lan Di? What role will the mysterious Ling Shenhua play? Will we find any more sailors? And what’s up with that tree!? Here’s to hoping we’ll find out when the game is finally released!

Disney Interactive has announced that their upcoming Star Wars themed Toys to Life title, Disney Infinity 3.0, will hit stores on August 30th. Aside from the game itself, the studio plans to release close to a dozen new figures to go with it, so we hope the next month is enough time to get your cash together!

Aside from the Starter Pack, (which includes the Twilight of the Republic Play Set, Anakin Skywalker and Ashoka Tano,) day one will see the release of Yoda and Obi Wan Kenobi’s standalone figures, Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, and Zeb Orrelios from Star Wars Rebels, and a set of Star Wars Power Discs. Of course, if you want even more goodness from a galaxy far far away, Playstation owners can also purchase the Star Wars Saga Starter Pack, which gives them early access to Luke, Leia, the Twilight of the Empire Play Set, and Boba Fett.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Toy Box Screen 1

Outside of the Jedi, Disney won’t leave themselves in the dust. In addition, the Inside Out Play Set will release on day one as well, (which is bundled with Joy and Anger,) with Sadness, Disgust and Fear releasing as standalone toys. If you want your Toy Box characters outside of the Play Sets, Disney also has you covered with the releases of Mickey, Minnie, Mulan, Olaf, Sam Flynn and Quorra, alongside a Tomorrowland power disc pack to customize your Toy Box with.

I know, this is already a huge amount of toys to buy on day one, but the last release can be free of charge! If you pre-order, each person who does walks away with early access to the Toy Box Takeover, a multiplayer expansion normally priced at $19.99. Serving as an action adventure mode supporting 2 players locally and 4 players online, players will be able to take any toy from the previous or current game and travel across multiple Disney, Marvel and Star Wars worlds in their quest to stop Syndrome. Later this Fall, Toy Box Speedway, a Kart racing expansion, will also release, but you’ll have to pay for that one.

Here’s the full press release:

Disney Interactive Announces North American Release Date for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition,

Fans who pre-order a Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack at participating retail stores will receive an early copy of the Toy Box Expansion Game, Toy Box Takeover, an action-adventure valued at $19.99, featuring multiplayer gameplay allowing players to use all of their favorite Disney Infinity characters across Star Wars™, Marvel, Disney and Disney•Pixar.

Toy Box Takeover is one of two new Toy Box Expansion Games available to play in Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition.  The second will be Toy Box Speedway, a kart-racing game, also set for release this fall. Toy Box Expansion Games unlock additional hours of gameplay inside Toy Box 3.0.  Players place a Toy Box Expansion Game Piece on the Disney Infinity Base to unlock pre-built games that instantly take them into the action, mixing and matching characters from across The Walt Disney Company and using unlocked toys and gadgets to complete missions.

Toy Box Expansion Game Overviews:

Toy Box Takeover

When Syndrome gets his hands on Merlin’s magic wand, it’s up to the player to stop him.  Using their favorite characters in Disney Infinity, they must battle across multiple worlds, such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Marvel’s Upper Manhattan, The Old West, or The Incredibles Volcano Lair to defeat the bad guys before they ruin the Toy Box forever. Players can complete missions with family and friends via two-player local co-op or four-player online.

Toy Box Speedway

Players can join their favorite Disney, Disney•Pixar, Marvel’s and Star Wars characters and vehicles in an action-packed kart-racer.  With nine franchise-themed tracks to choose from – Sugar Rush, Frozen, Tatooine, a classic Star Wars location, San Fransokyo, Agrabah, Monsters Inc., Halloween Town, Gravity Falls or Marvel’s Knowhere – they can choose from three different game modes including Time Trial mode, Race mode and Combat mode.   Players put their driving skills to the test as they attack opponents with gadgets and weapons and earn trophies across three challenge cups.

Rated E10+ by the ESRB, the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack available in North America on August 30, 2015 for $64.99, includes the Star Wars™ Twilight of the Republic Play Set, the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Base, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker character figures, and a web code card that unlocks content for PC and mobile devices.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Video Game and Base are required to play the Toy Box Expansion Games.  Toy Box Takeover and Toy Box Speedway will be sold separately at the suggested retail price of $19.99 each later this fall.

All figures and Power Discs from the 1.0 and 2.0 editions of Disney Infinity will be compatible with Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition in the enhanced Toy Box 3.0.

San Diego Comic Con is in full swing, and the folks over at Activision and Sony have a major treat for us. They’ve teamed up to give attendees a hands on experience with Call of Duty: Black Ops III multiplayer and an incredible escape room puzzle. On Wednesday night, Juan Carlos and I got a sneak peak at the newest addition to the Zombies feature and even attempt an ‘escape room’ puzzle.

The giant Call of Duty tent was brightly lit, and oddly enough, Jazz music could be heard coming from the lot. We immediately noticed the out of place motif, as the staff were all dressed in 1940’s clothing. Flapper girls and tramps checked us in and lead us to the press area, and we found the source of the Jazz music. A live freaking band was there playing music that would sound perfectly placed in a speakeasy.

Shortly afterwards we were called into the experience. Each attendee was handed either a tarot card or a book of matches, and separated into two groups. The entire room was decked out with posters advertising a boxing match and a mystical magician named Nero.

A couple of the developers from Treyarch came out and gave us a sneak peak at the new, bigger, better Zombies mode. It’s called Shadows of Evil, and takes place in a pre war era. The trailer we saw introduced us to the four playable characters. A boxer who rigged a match, a showgirl who murdered a producer, a private detective who was after some criminals and the magician Nero who killed his wife after she racked up an untold amount of debt. All four of the characters were soon kidnapped by an unseen evil sounding voice. It was really interesting to see a narrative being brought to the game mode, especially one as unique as this.

When the Treyarch team was finished, one of the actors gave us the run down of what we would be doing next. The two groups would go into separate rooms, and we would have 8 minutes to solve the puzzle and get out alive. Juan and I walked into what seemed like Nero’s study. A couple of chairs, a fireplace, a piano, and a book case were about the room. In the corner was a locked item box that we needed to find the combination to and get in.

Soon it was time to begin, and when the clock started a bunch of zombies busted through the fireplace. I screamed like a little girl. Everyone began to scatter. I ran over to the piano and started to rifle through the sheet music looking for some sort of code. I opened the piano chair and found a four digit number that didn’t open the lock. Another person came running over with a piece of the set that had a similar four digit number on it. We soon realized that these were most likely asset tags for the props department of where all the stuff came from. Someone on the other side of the room came running over with four playing cards that all had Playstation buttons drawn on them. We soon figured out the order and opened the item box. Inside was a pair of boxing gloves, and we were then instructed to find something “Not of this world” and put it in the box. The group found a remote control in the corner and placed it in the box and we were out in time.

Afterwards we headed into the Playstation truck and played a few rounds of Black Ops III multiplayer. The game feels extremely tight. The sheer amount of customization you have access to is astounding. The free running and double jumping play very well. It was surprising how much I enjoyed playing a shooter on a console. It was very on point.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III hits stores November 6th. You can give the Shadows of Evil experience yourself here in San Diego. No badge needed!

When it was first announced, some time ago, that Jack Black would be starring in a Goosebumps movie we we’re all a bit skeptical. Then this trailer came out.

This movie looks fun. Looks damn fun! I admittedly, never ever read any of the Goosebumps books as a kid. I watched The Haunted Mask Movie and was scarred as a child.

This trailer is the perfect combination of nostalgia and heartwarming kids comedy.

Goosebumps hits theaters September 25th!

Not to long ago we told you about the next in line to play Spider-Man, AND its newest director. Well now we have ourselves our Aunt May, and you’ll probably be as surprised as me when you find out who it is.

Marisa Tomei IS Aunt May (that shit rhymes!).

This casting, at least to me, seems like an odd choice for the actress. Normally reserved to more “serious” roles (The Wrestler, My Cousin Vinny and The Lincoln Lawyer), it came as a surprise to most of the community when it was announced.

A lot of people are worried that she is too young for the role, but with the right amount of makeup I think it might be a good role for her.

Spider-Man is set to hit theaters July 28th, 2017.

Briefly: Back in April (yep, on the first), we fooled a few of you by announcing that The Walking Dead‘s Chandler Riggs had been cast as Peter Parker in Sony / Marvel’s Spider-Man reboot.

Obviously, we were lying, so you can stop tweeting us about it now. Today, however, Sony and Marvel revealed (for real) who will be our next wall-crawler, as well as who will be directing the feature.

19 year-old The Impossible and In The Heart of the Sea star Tom Holland (not as young as we were expecting) has been tapped as our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, while fairly-newcomer Jon Watts (Watts directed this year’s Sundance hit Cop Car) will direct the feature.

Of the announcement, Sony Pictures Chairman Tom Rothmans noted that “It’s a big day here at Sony. Kevin, Amy and their teams have done an incredible job. The Marvel process is very thorough, and that’s why their results are so outstanding. I’m confident Spider-Man will be no exception. I’ve worked with a number of up-and-coming directors who have gone on to be superstars and believe that Jon is just such an outstanding talent. For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special. All in all, we are off to a roaring start.”

Feige adds that “As with James Gunn, Joss Whedon, and the Russo brothers, we love finding new and exciting voices to bring these characters to life. We spent a lot of time with Jon and find his take and work inspiring.”

Last I’d heard, 18-year old Asa Butterfield was essentially a lock for the project. This is an interesting turn, and in any case, I’m excited to see just where Sony can take Spider-Man with Marvel’s help! What do you think of the announcement? Is there anyone else you’d rather see in the role? Sound out below!

The yet-untitled Spider-Man reboot hits theatres on July 28th, 2017.

In between all of the news surrounding announcements for The Last Guardian, Shenmue III and of course, Final Fantasy VII, there was some exciting news coming out of Sony’s E3 press conference for Disney Infinity and Star Wars fans alike, but not so much if you’re not a Playstation gamer.

Much like last year’s exclusive collector’s edition which included The Hulk before he was released in stores, PS3 and PS4 owners will get early access to Boba Fett, as well as the Rise Against The Empire Play Set in a special Disney Infinity 3.0 starter pack. Dubbed the “Star Wars Saga Starter Pack, this set will include everyone’s favorite bounty hunter who doesn’t really do much in canon material, bundled with the Rise Against the Empire pack a few months in advance, (which comes bundled with Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa,) as well as the standard Twilight of the Empire pack, (which includes Clone Wars favorites, Anakin Skywalker and Ashoka Tano.) Retailing at $114.99, which is essentially the price of each item individually, do you really need to ask which version to get if you own a Sony console?

Mosey on down to the reveal trailer for the Rise Against the Empire Play Set below, and tell us if the inclusion of Boba Fett will sway your decision to pick up Disney’s next Toys To Life title, and make sure to check back for our full hands on impressions from the show floor!

During a night of shocking announcements, arguably the most surprising one of all was the sudden reveal of the long lost Shenmue 3 during Sony’s E3 press conference. Disappointingly attached to the condition that it be funded through Kickstarter, fans answered the call, leading the crowdfunding campaign to break through its $2 million goal in about nine hours, becoming the fastest video game to reach $1 million, clocking in at 1 hour and 42 minutes according to Guinness World Records. From this goal being met in record time, to someone ALREADY claiming the Ryo replica jacket and all three slots for dinner with Yu Suzuki for contributing $10,000 proves how passionate the fanbase is for this game. Or am I thinking crazy?

Either way, now that the initial goal has been met, the game has the potential to be expanded through a new set of stretch goals. Serving as what many consider the first true 3D open world title, Shenmue 3 is hoping to add three full cities to explore, a rapport system to help Ryo build relationships with the characters he meets, (sailors or otherwise,) and subtitles in multiple languages. The full list of goals is as follows, including the ones that have already been met:

Shenmue 3 Stretch Goals

Are you planning on backing this project? Is Shenmue 3 a dream come true for you, or is it too little too late? Let us know what you thought of the reveal below, and keep checking back for more E3 news, previews, and the fallout of the show in the coming days!

During their E3 press conference, Guerrilla Games, (of Killzone fame,) took the stage to reveal their first project since debuting Playstation’s flagship FPS.

Horizon: Zero Dawn places players in a lush, colorful field, (the complete opposite of Killzone,) where its protagonist, (who shares a resemblance with Heavenly Sword‘s Nariko,) uses a variety of traps to take down towering, mecha inspired monsters that look like they were ripped straight out of an episode of Beast Wars. After doing her best Snow Speeder impression and tethering it down with wires, the impressive demo ends with a long range shot with her high tech rifle, which strikes the exposed weakpoint, delivering massive damage. And it was all in engine, too!

In a sea of remake and sequel hype, it was great to see something that looks as ambitious as Horizon. Whether or not this new IP will live up to the platform it was given to debut on is unknown, but we’ll be sure to report back from the E3 show floor and keep you all informed.

First, this is worth noting: This was the last thing Sony showed off at their E3 presentation, and for a hot second everyone believed it was going to be Kingdom Hearts. There was a minor deflation when it wasn’t, but expect Kingdom Hearts III during Square Enix’s presentation tomorrow.

Anyway. It’s widely known that E3 conference demos aren’t actually played live. Except for the very few times that they are.

This shouldn’t have been one of those times.

During Sony’s live demo of Unchartered 4: A Thief’s End, it began with Drake and Sully in a (Brazilian?) village. As Sully moves ahead, Drake… just stands there. For a solid thirty to forty-five seconds. While the crowd in front of him moved — quite naturally and gorgeously, I might add.

Expect this video to get taken down soon, so enjoy it while you can.

Since Twitter happens at the same speed The Flash runs, it instantly became a meme before Sony embarrassingly had to restart the whole demo in front of everyone.

But the game itself stunned everyone, with its gorgeous rendering, destructible environments, and beautiful presentation. It regained whatever minuscule coolness Sony lost in the thirty seconds of Unchartered 4: A Thief’s Paralysis.

These games are supposed to make you live out an adventure movie. In the eight minutes this demo lasts, it’s like watching a Hollywood blockbuster. Sold.

Obviously Unchartered 4 will be a PlayStation exclusive and will be released sometime in 2016.

If the above video is already taken down by Sony because it’s as embarrassing as an old high school graduation picture, you can watch the unglued-feet version below.

Shenmue lives. I cried in front of my computer screen.

In one of the most stunning announcements at Sony’s E3 — an E3 that includes The Last Guardian and a remake of Final Fantasy VII — Yu Suzuki took to the stage of Sony’s conference to announce Shenmue III is in development!

With a Kickstarter.

The shock of legitimate evidence of Shenmue III presenting itself to my eyeballs is still clouding me, but there are some muddy ownership stuff going on here. Shenmue was originally released for the Sega Dreamcast and Shenmue II was released for the original Xbox (North America).

And here I thought Suzuki’s tweet from a few days ago was just a cruel tease.

I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, Shenmue III is fucking happening and the Kickstarter, live for maybe less than the runtime of all three Hobbit movies by now, is already more than halfway to its $2 million goal (there are 31 days total for the Kickstarter to run).

But Sony’s involvement confuses me. Did Sony buy the IP? Why let them announce a hotly-anticipated title has entered development with a Kickstarter, a plea to give us goddamn money, on an E3 stage if they didn’t have such exclusivity? Even if Shenmue III is funded with enough money to end poverty in a third-world nation, the game is still set to launch on the PlayStation 4 and the PC with zero mention of any other console, Xbox or otherwise, anywhere.

At this point I’ll take Shenmue III on a LeapFrog, but I would like to know exactly what happened between creator Yu Suzuki and any relationship he had, if at all, with the folks at Microsoft.

NIS America has finally announced a North American release date for the next game in the Danganronpa series. Traditionally a text-based adventure, the newest installment takes a crack at the action-adventure style of gameplay. North America be getting the game on the 1st of September, while the EU has to wait a few more days until September 4th.  The game will be released on the Playstation Vita as both a physical and digital release on the Playstation Store.

Taking control of Komaru Naegi, the sister of Danganronpa 1‘s main protgonist, and first game survivor, Toko Fukawa, the two girls must fight through an army of Monokumas as they attempt to escape the despair ridden Towa City. Coming in both standard and a collector’s edition exclusively through the NIS online store, this ensures that whether or not you just want to experience the game, or horde all of the merch you can find, either way, you’re covered!

The only reason I’m full of despair is knowing that we’ll have to wait for a few more months! Until then, check below for the latest trailer to hold you over. What are your favorite moments of the series for the five people who still have their Vita?

Sony’s full fledged Ratchet and Clank movie is getting the full Hollywood treatment, thanks in part to some surprising voice talent announcements, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter!

In addition to the returning Arnold Taylor and David Kay as the titular duo, and Armin Shimerman reprising Dr. Nefarious, they’re joined by Sylvester Stallone, Paul Giamatti, Rosario Dawson and John Goodman in yet to be announced roles! It’s clear that those behind the film see this as more than just a “video game movie,” so fans of the franchise can relax a bit knowing that this film, (along with the upcoming Sly Cooper adaptation,) seems to be in good hands.

The question remains though, who will they play? Considering this film and its accompanying game will be a retelling/reboot of the original, we have a few ideas about which characters are likely to pop up, (such as the dreaded Chairman Drek,) but I worry a bit since Captain Quark’s actor wasn’t mentioned in the story. I could see someone like Sly hamming up a performance for him, but considering how iconic he is to the game, I just REALLY want the origianl voice for the bumbling superhero.

Still, with the already announced appearance of Nefarious, it’s clear that this retelling won’t shy away from taking liberties with the original game, creating the possibility of new characters being introduced to flesh out the film. Which characters would you match up with the voice cast?

Keep an eye out for Ratchet and Clank when the movie and game both drop in 2016.

Spider-Man will be spinning webs all over the big screen for the next few years!

Studio head Tom Rothman announced at CinemaCon on Wednesday that Sony plans to release a Spider-Man animated feature film. It will be written and produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs). No director has been named yet.

The press release states that “the film will exist independently of the projects in the live-action Spider-Man universe, all of which are continuing.”

Currently live-action Spider-Man is set to appear in Captain America: Civil War in May 2016 and in a reboot film slated for July 28, 2017.

The animated film is set to release July 20, 2018 sandwiched between an untitled Fox Marvel film scheduled the week before and an untitled DC film scheduled the week after.

So far most of Spider-Man’s animated adventures have been great and with Lord and Miller involved there is no reason to believe that this won’t be awesome! … Is there? Let us know in the comments below.

Last month Valiant Entertainment announced a nine-figure investment for movie and television development. Today they are announcing a five picture deal with Sony Pictures that will bring the Valiant Universe to the big screen.

Bloodshot and Harbinger will each get two movies before the fifth movie, Harbinger Wars, brings the characters together. Harbinger Wars will be inspired by the Valiant’s 2013 miniseries of the same name where Bloodshot, a nanite-enchanced soldier, clashes with Harbinger and his gang of super-powered (think X-Men) runaways.

Bloodshot will be directed by John Wick’s David Leitch and Chad Stahelski while director considerations for Harbinger are being kept under wraps for now. All five movies will be produced by Valiant’s Dinesh Shamdasani, along with Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe (The Fast and Furious franchise, 21 Jump Street).

Other Valiant properties in development include the action comedy Archer & Armstrong and the supernatural thriller Shadowman.

Bloodshot is set to hit theatres in 2017. Are you excited for more comic book movie crossovers? Let us know in the comments below!

For so many years, Final Fantasy had followed the traditional JRPG formula. You take control of a diverse group of characters, fight some monsters, and save the day. Tactics was one of the first games in the series which began to deviate from that norm, expanding the catalogue into turn-based-strategy territory. Then along came the MMOs, then the sequels and remakes, the movies, the music games, etc. With the announcement of the upcoming Dissidia arcade fighting game (which looks amazing by the way), there are seemingly no boundaries for the iconic franchise. With each new installment of a game bearing the Final Fantasy name, you’re never quite sure what you’re going to get, so when I sat down with Type-0, I was prepared for anything.

Final Fantasy Type-0 is one of three main series that make up the collective Fabula Nova Crystallis which includes Final Fantasy XIII and XV, along with their sequels and companion games. Much like the Ivallice Alliance, which consisted of the Tactics series, Final Fantasy XII and Vagrant Story, the games all have ties to the same lore, rewarding the diehards with multiple references. Type-0 introduces its place in the lore through a drawn out opening cutscene and a fairly short Mission battle. Unless watching Chocobos die a slow, painful death for 20 minutes is a pastime of yours, it’s a really odd way to kick off your game. Afterwards, you are free to roam around your main base of operations, a training ground/school called Academia. If this sounds familiar, then rest assured, this is as far away from VIII’s Garden as it can get.

FF01

Your party consists of twelve playable characters from Academia’s Elite Class Zero.  Each member of Class Zero has a unique weapon specialty; anything from swords and guns to a Soul Calibur-esque blade-whip that would make Ivy jealous. Each character also has a set of upgradable skills, some of which are latent. These include providing an increase in maximum dodge-roll limits, and some are equip-able abilities, such as unique weapon attacks and different types of magic. Some time into the game, you will be introduced to the Altocrystarium, which can be accessed in Academia or at any time from the options menu. Here, you can trade collected Phantoma collected through battle for magic and special move upgrades. However, be aware that with each stat you upgrade, it will reduce a different stat’s efficiency so you will need to plan upgrades accordingly. Depending on your taste for action, you will likely realize a combat favorite or two.

During random battles and missions, you will take control of the character that you have assigned as your lead (or the first character in the party list if that one dies) plus the next two characters at the top of your party list. After defeating an enemy, you will need to target them to absorb their Phantoma and items, should they be carrying any. You’ll realize pretty quickly that having a character with area magic such as Blizzard will be essential for mowing down low-level random encounters.  One fantastic feature of Type-0’s battle system is the ability to time your attacks for massive damage, often after your enemy performs a powerful attack or spell. I got a real kick out of tactically defeating level 55 Behemoths with characters less than half their level.  If at any time a character is defeated in battle, you can swap them out for another until all of your twelve are used up. There is no real traditional escape option, so make sure you’re as prepared as you can be before heading off to battle.

FF02

Mission battles in towns will allow you to experience an interesting feature of battle within Type-0. Before Mission Battles, you may enable a feature which allows characters with names based on the game’s developers to join your party at random during a Mission. These characters disappear after a set time, which can be extended by defeating enemies, bosses and advancing through the mission. They will also gather SP, which can be used to trade for items back in Academia making their usefulness last beyond developing the game you’re reading about. If you’re more of a lone wolf, you can choose to disable the option if you’d rather go it alone. Though it sounds pretty cool, I found the feature to be a bit intrusive and restricting, although the characters themselves can be quite useful in a tough battle. However, if you happen to be controlling a character you don’t particularly want to play with for extended periods of time, you’re stuck with them until the time-limit runs out and your original playable party member returns to battle.

You’re given a set amount of time to explore the world until Mission Day, which will advance the main story. Talking to NPCs within Academia with a bright green exclamation point over their head or interacting with marked locations will trigger an Event. Events take up 2 hours of your time until Mission Day and will awards an item for completing them. Most of the time, you will usually get some mundane flavor text regarding a no-name NPC you happen to be chatting with. Sometimes, however, these interactions will trigger a short in-game cut-scene including various members of Class Zero. Some of these events are character-specific, and they usually tell you what character you need to trigger the Event.

FF03

Certain marked NPCs will have various Tasks for you to complete. Tasks are usually very straight forward and they don’t take away any time from your Mission Day countdown, unlike Events. Fetch-quest type Tasks can be completed without too much extra hassle, but Tasks where your party is asked to defeat certain enemies or numbers of enemies out in the field require you to use up the game-standard six hours for exploring the over-world in order to complete.

On that subject, here’s a tip that made managing Missions more enjoyable. Every town on the over-world map usually has at least one NPC with a Task for you to complete. However, if you are working on completing a hunting request, it is advisable to complete it before attempting any from townspeople. Towns can also hide unmarked NPCs with a hidden task for you to complete. Sometimes the task will be spread among multiple NPCs, so it’s I’d suggest talking to as many of them as possible. Certain towns also have salesmen who will buy any extra Phantoma off of your party for a pretty fair price, so be sure to remember where you find them!

If you’re a fan of the lore of Fabula Nova Crystallis, make sure to be on the lookout for L’Cie crystals lying around the game. You can turn them into a specific hidden character in a certain town to hear the last words of the L’Cie they belong to. There are more than 40 to collect and they can be found almost anywhere, offering an interesting nod to those who were engrossed by the universe introduced in FFXIII.

FF04

Aside from the main battle system, occasionally you will need to participate in territory wars in the over-world to capture territories and towns from the enemy. Mog’s tips will be essential for completing these scenarios effectively, in addition to tons of patience. This battle system takes away from the flow of gameplay, feeling completely different compared to the normal battle system. It can get a bit a bit frustrating if you don’t like or are not used to the style of gameplay.

Speaking of side modes, Chocobo breeding also makes a return in Type-0. When you visit the Chocobo Ranch through the central portal in Academia, you will eventually be given a sort of “starter set” of Chocobo. From there you can breed by using various types of greens as per the norm where the series mainstays are concerned. Different greens may yield new outcomes of Chocobo with interesting battle and travel specialties, so it’s best to stock up on greens where you can and try different combinations at the ranch every few in-game hours. Don’t worry too much about running out of birds to breed either. They can be found running wild on the over-world map, just waiting to be caught.

Final Fantasy Type-0 has a LOT of content. Like, a lot. Be prepared to spend many an hour at your console of choice searching caves for Task items or defeating wave after wave of random encounter enemies, harvesting rare Phantoma for upgrades. Personally, I felt pretty detached from the story as a whole, but found the battles, Missions and Tasks to be the most enjoyable part of the game. It seems that this installment tried to be a little bit of something for everybody, and no matter how you choose to spend your time in the world of Type-0, it’s definitely worth your 60 bucks.

Final Score- 4.25/5

Briefly: Okay, so we were totally lying on April 1st when we said that Chandler Riggs was playing Spider-Man.

But, today Kevin Feige did drop some new info about the role.

Feige revealed to Collider today that the new Spider-Man will indeed be Peter Parker, and that he’ll be Ultimate style 15-16 years old:

“In terms of the age of an actor we’ll eventually to cast, I don’t know. In terms of the age of what we believe Peter Parker is, I’d say 15-16 is right.”

He continues, explaining just why they chose to go with a younger Spidey this time around (aside from the fact that an immediately older one didn’t work):

“We want to play with Spider-Man in the high school years because frankly there’ve been five Spider-Man films and the amazing thing about it is, even though there’ve been five Spider-Man films, there are so many things from the comics that haven’t been done yet. Not just characters or villains or supporting characters, but sides to his character. The most obvious being the ‘young, doesn’t quite fit in’ kid before his powers, and then the fella that puts on a mask and swings around and fights bad guys and doesn’t shut up, which is something we want to play with and we’re excited about.”

Feige also culled some of our fears in a conversation with CraveOnline, revealing that the next Spider-Man film that we see won’t be an origin story:

“In Spider-Man’s very specific case, where there have been two retellings of that origin in the last whatever it’s been – [thirteen] years – for us we are going to take it for granted that people know that, and the specifics. It will not be an origin story. But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers. There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, you just don’t know it yet,“

Phew, I really didn’t want to spend the first half of his solo film with him learning how to wall crawl and stand up for himself. So, who would you like to see suit up as Spidey now that Donald Glover is definitely out?

spider-man

Breaking: Last month, Marvel and Sony announced a groundbreaking new partnership that would (again) see a reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise, but more importantly, would officially allow the character to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It was quickly revealed that Andrew Garfield would not be reprising his Peter Parker role in the new series, and the internet has run rampant with speculation of who we’d next see don the blue and red suit ever since.

We can all stop that speculation now, as Sony has just revealed who they’ve chosen for the role. No, it’s not Donald Glover, and he won’t be playing Miles Morales. The Walking Dead star Chandler Riggs (Carl, duh) will play Peter Parker / Spider-Man beginning in Captain America: Civil War.

It’s certainly an interesting choice, and certainly not one I’d ever predict. He’s young (16), which I like, and he’s awkward as hell, so he’s already got a one-up on Andrew Garfield (at least as far as Peter Parker goes). I’ll admit that I was initially baffled at the decision, but then I remembered that we shouldn’t hate on this stuff until we actually see what it looks like. Peter Parker is an awkward teenage nerd who isn’t particularly good looking, and Chandler fits right into that description.

Here’s the press release:

After a comprehensive worldwide casting search, Chandler Riggs has been chosen to portray Peter Parker when Spider-Man swings into the Marvel Universe with the release of Captain America: Civil War on May 6th, 2016. Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and newly appointed chairman of Sony Pictures, Tom Rothman.

Today’s announcement culminates what has been one of the most eagerly anticipated casting announcements in recent memory. Bloggers, pop culture speculators, and everyday fans have pored over and analyzed every conceivable online rumor in an attempt to discover the identity of the actor to play Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Riggs will immediately begin preparing for the coveted role.

Spider-Man, embraced all over the world, is the most successful franchise in the history of Sony Pictures, with the five films having taken in more than $4 billion worldwide.

Commenting on the announcement, Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios said, “Spider-Man is a classic superhero — a young man who balances his responsibility to serve humanity and crush evil with the shyness and normalcy of someone struggling to find himself. The role demands an extraordinary actor. You need someone who can magically transform himself from Peter Parker into Spider-Man. An actor who will depict the vulnerability of youth and the strength and confidence of a legendary figure at the same moment. We have found that actor in Chandler Riggs. From the first time we saw him in The Walking Dead, to his glorious screen test which floored all of us, we knew that we had found our new Peter Parker.”

Producer Avi Arad added, “I’m incredibly excited about Chandler Riggs. In the Spider-Man tradition, we were looking for a smart, sensitive, and cool new Peter Parker who can inspire us and make us laugh, cry, and cheer. We believe we have found the perfect choice to take on this role and lead us into the future.”

Producer Laura Ziskin said, “We are thrilled to have Chandler Riggs for this new incarnation of Spider-Man. We were fortunate enough to meet with a group of fantastically talented young men, and in the end, we all agreed that in addition to being an extraordinary actor, Chandler had the right mix of humor, youth, and pathos, along with an underlying sense of strength and power necessary to bring Peter Parker and Spider-Man to life on screen.”

Kevin Feige added “We cannot wait to show you where Marvel and Sony plan to take this beloved character, and we’re ecstatic to show you Chandler in costume, and in motion, later this year.”

Are you down with this announcement? Is there another actor you’d have rather seen cast? And what does this mean for Carl on The Walking Dead? Sound out below!

Looks like we ran the karma tap dry. With yesterdays GTA and Zoolander news, we were BOUND to get something bad. Looks like Nathan Drake won’t be returning as soon as we thought. Uncharted 4 has been pushed back to 2016!

In an open letter from the games directors, we’ve been told that the game’s original release schedule isn’t going to be met.

So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.

This is going to be my first Uncharted game, since I’ve only recently jumped into the Sony ecosystem. I am very glad that they’re going to take their time!

In about three weeks will be the premiere of the PlayStation-exclusive series, Powers. Man, a PlayStation TV series. What a time to be alive.

I admit I’m not very familiar with the original graphic novel from Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, but just from this sneak peek it has my attention.

What I’m dwelling on is that it’s a PlayStation series. I remember reading in Console Wars how Sega wanted their Genesis to be an online, multi-media hub of sorts but was handcuffed by its time. Now, a video game console can create a compelling television series and no one thinks it’s that weird. The doors are opening, the pillars are falling and it’s so exciting to me.

Powers premieres March 10 on the PlayStation Store. The first three episodes will be available, followed by a new episode weekly.

Will you be watching Powers?
