With the success of Game Of Thrones and the upcoming The Hobbit: An Unexpected
Journey
hitting screens later this year, it’s no surprise that Legendary are still eager to get an adaptation of the similarly themed World Of Warcraft moving along. However they hit a bit of a speed bump when Sam Raimi, who was originally set to direct, left the project recently.

Now Variety reports that a new writer has been hired to move the project forward. Charles Leavitt, who has previously penned the fantasy flick The Seventh Son for the studio. Next up for the studio is to find a new director. Legendary has quite a bit going on at the moment with numerous upcoming projects and releases so it’s pretty unlikely we would see the movie before 2014. But still this must make fans of the massively popular MMORPG very happy and they may have left their basements to run upstairs and yell out the news.

Just kidding. Kind of.

We already know that some DC villains would be showing up in Arrow but when producer Marc Guggenheim was asked if fans should expect to see some familiar heroic faces turn up as well. Unfortunately, his answer is pretty vauge on it.

“I would say, ‘Probably.’ One of the things we want to do is roll the show out at the right pace. For the most part, I think we’ve taken the philosophy that things are happening sooner rather than later. I always feel like every time we get the note from the network, ‘Is this happening too soon?,’ I feel like we’re on the right track. I know as a viewer myself, I’m impatient. I want to see stuff. We’re not going to make the audience wait to see characters, plot twists, revelations. I think running out of great characters and great moments is a quality problem to have, and I just want to have them.”

On to topic of the possibility of whether Batman will be one of the allies that this iteration of Oliver Queen meets up with, Guggenheim remains optimistic that the team behind Arrow will be able to use him in the series. Smallville producers wanted to do this for years but the execs at Warner Bros. wouldn’t allow it. Now that Nolan’s films are done could we see Bruce Wayne on the small screen?

“Oh, my hope is that we can use him at some point. I think that plagued the Smallville showrunners more than it plagues us because, obviously, the Dark Knight Trilogy is over. They’re not available to us yet. My hope is that they’ll be available to us at some point. That would be awesome. No question, that would be absolutely awesome. But I don’t know. That’s above my pay grade.”

So, would you like to see Batman make an appearance and team up with the emerald archer on Arrow?

Following yesterdays big news that Christopher Eccelston (Dr. Who, GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra) would be playing Malekith The Accursed in Thor: The Dark World the actor has briefly commented on the upcoming project.

“’Thor 2′? Yeah I start shooting in August. I haven’t seen a script yet which makes me nervous but yeah! Alan Taylor is directing who has done ‘Game of Thrones’ so it should be good.”

Exploring Thor’s relationship with the Asgardian all-father Odin, as well earthbound companion Jane Foster, “Thor: The Dark World” follows the God of Thunder to The Nine Realms beyond Asgard and earth. And as his evil half-brother, Loki, returns for Asgardian justice, a new threat rises. Also rejoining Thor are his fellow Asgardians, Lady Sif, gatekeeper Heimdall and Warriors Three, as they encounter mythical Norse creatures among evildoers.

Thor: The Dark World is set for release on November 8, 2013.

Looks like we may be getting some non-teenie bopper werewolf movies again! Deadline is reporting that X-Men: First Class‘s Lucas Till is in negotiations to star in the feature directorial debut of David Hayter (X-Men, X2, Watchmen), Wolves. The actor is currently filming the thrill Paranoia and recently wrapped up the indie thriller Crush.

Hayter wrote the script for Wolves, which centers on a young man (Till), who transforms into a werewolf and finds himself falsely accused of murdering his parents. He goes on the run, eventually arriving at a small town named Lupine Ridge that has a history of supernatural happenings. There he finds the secrets to his past.

It looks like Till is going to have a busy year or two here. That’s three movies plus the upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past he has lined up. We will keep you updated on Wolves as more news breaks.

So, are you guys ready for The Expendables 2 yet? Lionsgate has released this explosive thirty second TV spot featuring some pretty damn funny moments from the upcoming action flick.

The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal… Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way…

The Expendables 2 is going to kick your ass on August 17th.

Daniel Way’s run on Deadpool is coming to an end and following the recent Marvel NOW! teasers announcing the new teams we have one for Deadpool!  The creative team that will usher in a new era for the fan-favorite will be Brian Posehn (yes, you read that one right…the Brian Posehn!), Gerry Duggan and Tony Moore (Fear Agent, The Walking Dead) Holy fucking shit right? Remember when we told you that the title to the sequel for X-Men: First Class was going to be X-Men: Days Of Future Past? Well, Bryan Singer has now CONFIRMED the title! While speaking with IGN movies Singer states that Matthew Vaughn’s sequel will deal with “aspects of that comic” it is based on. Trust me when I say that the staff over at Geekscape is very excited about this news.

“I can say that it’s being written right now and it will start shooting in a few months. It’s going to be very ambitious; it’s called Days of Future Past and it deals with aspects of that comic, but also some very new things. I don’t want to give any of it away. Matthew Vaughn will be directing and I’m totally excited about it.”

“I think there’s a strong desire to broaden out the universe. I mean, the X-Men universe is every bit on its own as big as the Marvel universe. I think it’s time to reach out and explore it and perhaps even bring some connectivity between the films as Marvel has done so well. You may seem some of that.”

X-Men: Days Of Future Past hits theaters July 18, 2014!

Today we have another teaser announcing one of the new creative teams that will be working on titles for Marvel NOW! And I had heard rumors that Lenil Yu and Mark Waid would be taking over on a Hulk title starting in November. Well, it appears those rumors have been confirmed by this latest teaser.

Just when you thought Robert Rodriguez couldn’t add anymore females to his cast. Oh wait, it’s a Robert Rodriguez movie. Hudgens will join Sofia Vergara, Alexa Vega, Amber Heard, Jessica Alba, Lady Gaga and Michelle Rodriguez. There are some male actors in the movie too. I think.

Here’s the official announcement from her blog:

Yes, it is true! We can confirm that Vanessa will be in the new Robert Rodiguez movie

Machete Kills as Cereza! Check out the clip above!

We can’t wait to see Vanessa! Are you excited?

Well, I can’t say that I am excited for her as much as the others. But anyway…here’s a synopsis for the movie!

The second film in the Machete trilogy finds Machete mourning the loss of his beloved Sartana, slain during a run in with the cartels. Machete is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a cartel leader, Mendez the Madman, who threatens to fire a missile on the US. Machete foils Mendez’s plot only to find that the missiles are remote wired to and triggered by the madman’s still beating heart. The only man who can disarm the missile is eccentric billionaire arms dealer, Luther Voz, who has hatched a plan of his own to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on Voz and his army in order to dismantle his master plan for global anarchy

No release date has been set yet. However expect about ten more announcements of hot females joining the cast. No, I’m just kidding. Well….maybe.

We got an international trailer not too long ago and now the domestic one has hit. Liam Neeson is back to unleash his certain set of skills! With this and the two Skyfall trailers earlier…I don’t know if the site can handle any more bad-ass for the day.

Liam Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent with a particular set of skills who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from Albanian kidnappers. When the father of one of the kidnappers swears revenge and takes Bryan and his wife hostage during their family vacation in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim to help them escape, and uses the same advanced level of special forces tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers one by one.

Taken 2 unleashes into theaters October 5th.

Reports are comning in that Wes Craven and Steve Niles are working on a new graphic novel together titled, Coming Of Rage. It was created by Craven (The Nightmare On Elm Street, Scream) and written by Niles (30 Days Of Night, Criminal Macabre). It also appears that Live Free Or Die Hard producer Arnold Rifkin and Liquid Comics CEO, Sharad Devarajan are working on bringing it to the big screen already. The adaptation is expected to be helmed by Craven.

Coming Of Rage will be released by Liquid in 2013 as both a five-issue comic series and as a graphic novel. While there are no details at the moment as far as the story…you can tell by the promo image that it will definitely be in the horror genre. Liquid Comics plans to have additional digital elements for iPads and iPhones to compliment the publication.

Thanks to the people over at MTV Geek we have the first trailer for DC’s upcoming animated feature, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part One. This upcoming animated movie is based on the classic Frank Miller graphic novel of the same name.

Get More: MTV Shows

It’s been a decade since Bruce Wayne hung up his cape, following most of the other superheroes who had been forced into retirement. Facing the downside of middle age, a restless Bruce Wayne pacifies his frustration with race cars and liquor – but the bat still beckons as he watches his city fall prey to gangs of barbaric criminals known as The Mutants.

The return of Harvey Dent as Two-Face finally prompts Wayne to once again don the Dark Knight’s cowl, and his dramatic capture of the villain returns him to crime-fighting – simultaneously making him the target of law enforcement and the new hope for a desolate Gotham City. Particularly inspired is a teenage girl named Carrie, who adopts the persona of Robin and ultimately saves Batman from a brutal attack by the Mutant leader. Armed with a new sidekick, and re-energized with a definitive purpose, the Dark Knight returns to protect Gotham from foes new…and old.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part One goes on sale September 25th, 2012!

Sony wants Marc Webb to return for the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, and even more importantly even though he sounded uncertain months ago, Webb wants to return too. But there is something that is keeping Webb from signing on for the sequel at the moment. Back when Webb directed 500 Days Of Summer for Fox Searchlight, he was locked in for one more movie with them. Apparently it seems the execs over at Fox gave him a reprieve to go work on The Amazing Spider-Man for Sony.

And according to the LA Times it seems Fox will let him sign on to direct the sequel. But there’s a catch. There is always a catch.

Fox is considering giving its blessing to Webb on “Spidey” but in exchange would extract a two-picture commitment from Webb. It would be a steep price to pay for the filmmaker — most in-demand directors don’t like locking themselves up that long — but it would free him to return to one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises.

If no agreement can be reached, Sony is going to have to begin a search for a replacement director pretty quickly, as the movie is lined up to hit theaters in 21 months. Alex Kurzman, Roberto Orci, and James Vanderbilt are currently working on a script for it. I hope Webb returns myself because of the great job he did with the first chapter but can completely understand if he walks away due to the commitment that Fox is looking for.

By now we have all heard about the test footage for Ant-Man that was shown at this years San Diego Comic-Con and I have been talking about this movie quite a bit in the recent months. A few weeks ago I reported that Simon Pegg had tweeted that “Edgar Wright will shoot Ant-Man next year”. And now it seems that news has been confirmed. From what I have been hearing and reading around, Marvel is going to be aiming to have Ant-Man step into Marvel’s London production branch as soon as principal photography on Thor: The Dark World wraps.

There has been a rumor for quite some time that Marvel was aiming to adding a third in-continuity film during their “Phase Two” and this would totally make sense. I mean the buzz alone on Ant-Man after Comic-Con has been ridiculous. If this all pans out expect Ant-Man to begin production around late spring/early summer 2013.

A few days ago I reported that Deadshot would be one of the first enemies that Oliver Queen would be going up against in the first season of CW’s Arrow. It’s also been reported that China White and Deathstroke would be amongst his enemies this season and that Kelly Hu who played Deathstrike in X2: X-Men United would be playing the role of China White. No word has hit yet on who would be playing Slade “Deathstroke” Wilson but we do know now that Canadian actor Michael Rowe has been cast in the role of Deadshot.

“Deadshot doesn’t speak much, so he has to have that physicality,” says executive producer Marc Guggenheim (FlashForward) of the Suicide Squad member who may be best known for battling Batman in the comic-book world. “And Michael certainly has that. He has that look.” As for whether Deadshot is a one-shot gig, Guggenheim’s fellow EPs Greg Berlanti (Political Animals) and Andrew Kreisberg (Warehouse 13) both agree that Stephen Amell’s Emerald Archer will most likely cross paths with newcomer Rowe’s hitman beyond this first meeting. “I think that’s very possible,” hints Berlanti.

I was very hesitant about this show at first but once they announced Deadshot would be appearing I was on board. And this guy definitely looks like he can pull the role off. Then again anything will be better than that steampunk cowboy they had on Smallville. So, what do you guys think?

Deadline is reporting that John Leguizamo (Spawn, Summer Of Sam) is the first new cast member to sign on to the upcoming sequel to Mathew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass. Leguizamo will be playing Javier, one of the bodyguards assigned to protect Red Mist (now calling himself “Motherfucker”, leader of “The Toxic Mega-cunts) who will be played by the returning Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Nicholas Cage will all be reprising their roles in the movie as well.

The rumors had been going around for quite some time now and Kieron Gillen and Greg Land would be working on an Iron Man series for Marvel NOW!. Well, now it’s been made official by Marvel themselves with the release of this teaser image. The current run of Invincible Iron Man comes to an end this October and while the image does not actually give a title I kind of have the feeling it may stick to the same title or something like The Invincible Iron Man. Guess we will find out soon!

Mike Jensen is an awesome concept artist who has recently done some designs for the upcoming reboot of Robocop. These pictures were posted on his official homepage but were taken down quite quickly. Hmmm. Thanks to the people over at  Robocop Archive, we might have our first look at some of the early designs of the new Robocop. Keep in mind that these are definitely NOT the final designs being that concept art usually changes from the final design and we have been told that we will see Alex Murphy’s eyes unlike in the original. While I am sure many will scream “No!” to these keep in mind as I stated that these are most likely early concept art which always differs from the final version. Plus I have complete faith in director Jose Padilha with this project.

It has been confirmed that Iwan Rheon (Misfits) has been cast in the third season of the hit series Game Of Thrones. The Huffington Post has revealed that the actor has been cast in the role of “Boy”, which could mean he’ll be playing Ramsay Snow, otherwise known as the “Bastard Of Bolton.”

There has been rumors of Rheon joining the cast ever since a photo surfaced of him hanging out with Games cast members Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jamie Lannister), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth). While this is not official confirmation that he will be playing the role, the role was one of the few castings that was not announced at Comic-Con. There has been no mention yet so far of Mance Rayder or Ramsay, both of whom were referenced in season two,  in regards to casting. So, what do you think? Will we see Rheon as Ramsay Snow next season?

While they are officially being referred to as “paying tribute to the start of the Olympics” us comic fans can definitely tell who really inspired these right here. Collider recently spoke with Drew Goddard (Cabin In The Woods) and one of the subjects that came up was his involvement in the troubled  Marc Forster helmed World War Z. It was reported earlier that Damon Lindelof (Prometheus) had been brought in to sort out some issues with the ending before they went back for re-shoots. Then later reports indicated that he had passed this on to Goddard due to him having other commitments. Well, from the looks of it the reports of him re-writing the entire third act may have been blown a bit out of proportion.

“I think a lot of that got blown out of proportion. It really was like, they asked me to come look at the movie and give ideas on how to help, and that’s what happened. That happens all the time, I don’t know why this got blown up with World War Z and it suddenly became a big thing. It’s the sort of thing that happens with screenwriters all the time where you give your ideas on what could help, you write some scenes for people. I feel bad for the sort of magnifying glass that that movie’s under because this is just a normal part of the process, this is just what happens. My involvement was just watch the movie, give some ideas, write some scenes that might help, ADR, just sort of fill in stuff, which is what I did.”

In regard to what he thinks of World War Z, while he can’t give too much away:

“Out of respect for the filmmakers, I don’t want to say too much about World War Z, just because I owe it to them to let it come out as the they want. What I will say is that some of the stuff I saw was mind-blowing.”

Mark Wahlberg and Liam Neeson are both being eyed for roles in the upcoming adaptation of William Gibson’s 1984 novel, Neuromancer. Gibson’s first novel is considered to be a seminal work in the cyberpunk genre and the first winner of the science-fiction “triple crown”: the Nebula Award, the Philip K. Dick Award, and the Hugo Award. While no one has signed on for the project Moviehole has reported that the offer is currently on the table.

Wahlberg, who has a solid working relationship with the film’s producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, has been offered the role of the anti-hero Case. Neeson would be playing the role of the twisted tool Armitage.

The film will be directed by Vincenzo Natali (Cube, Splice) and see a 2014 release date. The only downside to this so far is that Natali is also attached to direct the Swamp Thing reboot so it looks like it will be quite some time before we get that one.
