Briefly: Kick-Ass 2 is just one week away from theatres, and Universal today debuted a new featurette for the anticipated film.

The video features plenty of new footage, and mostly deals with the tough production of a battle between Mother Russia and Hit Girl. The fight looks pretty impressive from what we see here, and it apparently took an entire two weeks to film!

I’m very excited for to get in line for Kick-Ass 2, and today’s featurette really gives us a great peek at just how fun the movie will be. Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know what you think!

Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation. When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy.

Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes. Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.

Following the Kick-Ass 2 viral launch earlier this week, two new videos have appeared on the Justice Forever website.

The videos feature Insect Man, Battle Guy, and Doctor Gravity, who all urge you to find your secret identity and join the Justice Forever team. There is actually a contest going on at the Justice Forever site, with things like posters, clothing, cash, and even a two-night trip to SDCC up for grabs. Sounds like this campaign may just be worth sharing.

Take a look at the new videos below, and let us know what you think! Kick-Ass 2 hits theatres on August 16th!

Recently KICK-ASS 2 director Jeff Wadlow has been tweeting some teaser images but never really revealing who will be playing Mother Russia in next year’s film. Well, it appears that a rumor about who will be playing the character has turned out to be true. Bleeding Cool has done some researching and found an excerpt from IronWorld.ru the reveals that Olga Kurkulina has indeed been cast in the coveted role of Mother Russia, the key villainess of Kick-Ass 2.

I competed against other candidates from America, Switzerland and Holland. I spent three weeks in the casting, which took place at Pinewood studios. At the end, the director told me that I was getting a role. This was a difficult time psychologically and physically.

Mny people worked hard and from the heart to help me. On August 30th we fly to Toronto for a month’s shooting on location, and then we go back to London where stunts will be filmed at a local studio.

Now I’m train hard, learning new movements for attack and defense working with professionals on my acting and speech training.

So, are you guys ready for the epic final battle in KICK-ASS 2?! I know I am. I just hope they stay true to the ending of the comics this time around.

UPDATE: Thanks to the guys over at Bleeding Cool we also now have a set photo revealing a first look at Olga Kurkulina as Mother Russia. It’s definitely a bit different than the one in the comics but then again so were the costumes in the last movie.

There’s only a few days until filming begins on KICK-ASS 2 and director Jeff Wadlow has been tweeting some images from the set to tease the fans. One including a look at ‘Mother Russia’, even though there has been no announcement on who will be filling the role yet. From the looks of it this one may just top the original movie and will stay true to the two-series that the film we be an adaptation of. However, if it does do that…we could see an R-rating attached to this movie, not that it would be a bad thing. But honestly from the looks of it this movie just may, well…kick ass.

It seem’s just about every other day that we get a new cast addtion to Jeff Wadlow’s upcoming sequel to KICK-ASS. Deadline report that Claudia Lee (Hart Of Dixie) has been cast in a co-starring role in the upcoming sequel. However the site does not currently have any info regarding who the young actress will be playing. Based on her age alone she could be playing one of the girls who bully Mindy aka Hit-Girl. Or possibly even another member of the Justice Forever team? Who do you think she could be playing? Sound off in the box below.

KICK-ASS 2 hits theaters June 28, 2013.

Earlier today Universal Pictures announced that KICK-ASS 2, the sequel to the 2010 superhero comedy, will be hitting theaters on June 28, 2013!

In addition to this, Deadline reports that two more actors have joined writer/director Jeff Wadlow’s film. The two actors being Morris Chestnut (American Horror Story) and Robert Emms (War Horse). Chestnut will play Hit-Girl’s stepfather Marcus Williams, replacing Omari Hardwick from the first film. Robert Emms has landed the role of Insect-Man, a police officer turned member of the superhero team Justice Forever.

Production is set to begin next month on the film, which will adapt both Millar and Romita’s Kick-Ass 2 and the Hit-Girl spinoff. It will be produced by Matthew Vaughn, who is unable to direct because of his commitment to X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

With all the new cast members that have been announced these few past few weeks this movie definitely has potential to be one hell of a fun movie.

Deadline is reporting that John Leguizamo (Spawn, Summer Of Sam) is the first new cast member to sign on to the upcoming sequel to Mathew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass. Leguizamo will be playing Javier, one of the bodyguards assigned to protect Red Mist (now calling himself “Motherfucker”, leader of “The Toxic Mega-cunts) who will be played by the returning Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Nicholas Cage will all be reprising their roles in the movie as well.

With the events of this book taking place in the film adaptation of ‘Kick-Ass 2’ we have your first look at ‘Hit-Girl #1’. Click the thumbs below for a larger look.

Hit-Girl spins off into her own blood-soaked series by the sales-busting creative team of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. This story takes place between Kick-Ass volumes 1 and 2 as Mindy McCready tries to settle into life as a regular school-girl, but wants nothing more to be dispensing hot justice to the scum of New York City. Her mother and step-father think she’s doing her homework, but in reality she’s taken Kick-Ass on as her sidekick and training him up to punch, shoot and stab… just like Daddy would have wanted. A limited edition variant by Leandro Fernandez will be released for this issue.

Collider recently sat down with Aaron Johnson to discuss ‘Kick-Ass 2’ the sequel one of the best comic films of 2010.

The film tells the story of an ordinary teenager, Dave Lizewski, who sets out to become a real-life superhero, calling himself “Kick-Ass”. Dave gets caught up in a bigger fight when he meets Big Daddy, a former cop who, in his quest to bring down the drug lord Frank D’Amico, has trained his eleven-year-old daughter to be the ruthless vigilante Hit-Girl.

When asked about the sequel Johnson went on to say It’s pretty much set to go, this Fall.  I think now Chloe [Grace Moretz] and Chris [Mintz-Plasse] are on board.  I’m certainly set up to do it.  Jeff Wadlow is to direct.  Yeah, I think it’s going to happen.

Johnson went on to say that he has read the script and on the R-rating of the filmOh, yeah!  It keeps the standard, from the first film.

He didn’t seem surprised that they were making a sequel to this film and seemed quite confident that it would live up to the expectations we may have after seeing the first. “Yeah, and I think that’s why Matthew Vaughn has got his name all over this one, as well.  The only way he was ever going to make a sequel was if it could be anywhere close to the first one, and keep that class and that quality, and just maintain something original and new and refreshing.  And this script delivers all of that, right now.  I’m excited to get back in the suit.”

I’m really hoping this one goes into production soon. This was one of the truly fun comic-book movies to see come to life and even though we have a new director and i’d have loved for Matthew Vaughn to return…i’m still excited to see how this turns out.
