If you’ve been under a digital rock for the past year, adventure game legend Tim Schafer, started a Kickstarter to build an old school point and click adventure game. Cutting out the publisher and going straight to the fans. If you check it out, Double Fine was able to raise over $3 MILLION!

Well today we got ourselves and official website and pre-order information! The site went live today. We got a nice picture and the broad description of the game. Take a read!

Broken Age is a point-and-click adventure telling the stories of a young boy and girl leading parallel lives. The girl has been chosen by her village to be sacrificed to a terrible monster–but she decides to fight back. Meanwhile, a boy on a spaceship is living a solitary life under the care of a motherly computer, but he wants to break free to lead adventures and do good in the world. Adventures ensue.

Broken Age development began when we asked our community if they would help us create a classic-style adventure game without needing to rely on traditional publishers. It turns out they did.

And ever since day one, 2 Player Productions has been recording the whole process in an ongoing series of in-depth episodes documenting the creation of a game. By becoming a backer, you can follow the game’s development as it progresses!

I’m not a huge adventure game fan, sans Walking Dead, but I respect Tim Schafer and all the work he has done. I am very excited to see what turns up when this game comes out!

There is no official release date yet, but if you get the backer status pre-order you get access to the forums and the 2 Player Productions documentary, and from what I’ve heard it is TOTALLY worth the extra dollars.

You read the title right folks! Way back in January we talked about Daft Punk signing a new contract with Columbia. Well today we can report, that the newest record from the two most influential and important electronic musicians, will be released on May 21st!

Late last night, the iTunes page for Daft Punk was updated so clandestinely, we almost missed it! The record will have 13 new songs, none of which have had their titles released yet. The album is titled “Random Access Memories”, a play on the type of RAM you find in your computer.

We only got a tiny little preview of one of their new songs, when they ran an ad on SNL a few weeks ago.

Nothing else has been released yet, but you can be sure when we get more info, or a leak or two, we will keep you informed!

Be sure to check out their official website HERE!

These last few days have been INSANE with all the information coming out for the next in the Battlefield series. We have teaser trailers, dog tags and a stack of leaked features. Come with me!

A few days ago we got the leaked artwork for BF4 ( check out our write up on it here ). Then the guys over at DICE created a new site that urged players to log in. The new Battlefield 4 Official Website had a counter going, the more players that logged in with their Origin account the more would be revealed for the first teaser image. What was unlocked first was this fabulously orange picture of a smoking aircraft carrier, titled “Amphibious Assault”

Battlefield 4 Amphibious Assault

Couple that with today’s teaser “SEA”, I HOPE, that we can see a type of aircraft carrier defend mode. If you’ve played Battlefield 2142’s Titan mode then you know what kind of crazy antics to expect.

Next we got this other teaser, “Land”.

Tease after tease! FINALLY, we got some leaked info on what the game features will be like. These are unconfirmed as of now, but hopefully at least half of these stick.

Battlefield 4 will stick with 64 players. Maps are larger and more detailed.

Three factions: US, Russia, and an unnamed “Eastern/Asian” faction.
4 classes with “additional features and tweaks” compared to BF3
Shipping with same amount of maps as BF3, there are plans for lots of DLC.
DLC is already in planning stages.
Battlefield 4 Premium will be available on day one and include some perks.
Most of the guns and vehicles from BF3 will return.
More squad features.
Commander feature returns, but won’t be the same as in BF2
Battlefield 4 is coming out on both current and next gen systems, and PC as well.
Game is more of an evolution rather than revolution of the series. Both technically and gameplay wise.
Will ship with more game modes than BF3
Will ship with more close quarter infantry maps than BF3
Frostbite 2 engine is pushed further in BF4. Better effects, higher res textures, more detailed game worlds, etc.
BF3 will still be supported after Battlefield 4 launches.
There is plan of some sort of integration between BF3 and BF4. Could be Battlelog-only.
Battlelog will be updated for Battlefield 4 with more social features and more detailed stats.
Single-player and co-op will return, new writers involved this time.

This is all very, very exciting! I really hope they implement some sort of Titan mode and bring the Commander Role back proper. Playing Commander in BF2 was one of the funnest things I did in the game, besides intense HALO missions.

With all this info getting pumped out we can certainly expect the game to shit this year, like what was rumored.

It was 1 A.M. and I was sitting on the couch watching some bad T.V. My Android phone clutched in front of my face, and my Reddit feed was scrolling across my eyes. The myriad of cat posts, angry atheists and white guilt racism was beginning to blur together. I was pondering whether to attempt sleep yet or not when I heard a deafening sound. *BABUNG*. My phone sounded a notification, ” You received a new Email! ” scrolled across my notification bar. I lazily tapped it not interested in what message awaited me. NIANTIC OPS soon displayed in the FROM field. ” Shit, what is happening now “, I literally said aloud. I opened up the message and read it. JakeAK had destroyed my portal mods and retook a portal for the resistance. I looked at the activity log and the clock, he wasn’t going to be there for much longer, so I stood up and wondered what my next move would be. My rabbit looked over at me, with that same disproving look I’ve seen countless times before.

You aren't about to do what I THINK you're going to do. You fucking nerd!
You aren’t about to do what I THINK you’re going to do. You fucking nerd!

I did. I got up, threw on clothes and ran outside. The 12 degree weather hit me hard in the face, I pulled my hat down and ran into my truck. I fired up my Ingress App and got my bearings. I saw the globe circling as it zoomed in on my location. I got to the dashboard and saw that I was almost out of XM. Dammit. I needed to fill up… maybe I am getting a little too far ahead of myself. Let’s go back to the beginning.

Ingress is an Android app that uses your GPS to connect you to an alternate reality. The story that goes along with it is that a mysterious energy source has been appearing all over the globe, XM. Along with this mysterious energy a race of aliens known as the Shapers have come to Earth. They have come with the intention of peace, to help us use this new energy but not everyone believes their motives. Soon a resistance has gathered up to stop the shapers from coming into our dimension, while a group of sympathizers known as the Enlightened have come to help the aliens. A war has broken out between the Resistance and the Enlightened.

The two sides are fighting over control points know as portals. Portals are real life locations that you have to physically go to and interact with. You can submit portals by taking a GPS tagged picture and sending it to the game creators. Some great portals are signs, statues and businesses. Players can put resonators and shields on the portals. Resonators range in levels from 1 to 8. 1 being the weakest and most common. The average level of resonators determines the portal level, which in turn determines the overall strength and range it can reach. Players can then hack active portals for items. If you hack one that is on your own side you getter better and more items but no experience.
If you get lucky hacking you can get a portal key. This let’s you recharge the portals energy remotely or connect other portals to it. The whole object of the game is to control more portals and link them. If you link enough portals that all connect into a closed off shape it creates a control area. The control area is valued in MUs or mind units. Its believes that this number is derived from population. The minds in the control field are the ” uninvolved ” citizens that will be more inclined to take your side. So the more minds the better!

Now to be able to do ANYTHING in Ingress you need XM. The mysterious energy. You can collect XM by walking or driving and picking up the crystals that appear on the map. How XM is created is still unclear but it is believed to be connected to mobile data usage. So apartments or cities usually have more around.

Now that you got the basic understanding let’s get back to our story.

I needed XM. I was extremely low, I had been remotely recharging a Portal in Anchorage hours before and had run out. I knew of a great cache of XM, The local AT&T store. So I put turned on my Zune, fired up the most recent episode of  Geekscape and drove off. Looking at the recent activity in the region chat I saw that a lot had been going on, Anchorage had been going through a lot of changes, portals being taken back and forth. With only two portals in a 20 mile radius of each other out in Wasilla, each 45 minute drive into “town” to go to a store, DJ a gig or just get some Mongolian food turns into an adventure. Seeing the different world on the phone is always thrilling.

I soon got to the AT&T store. It was covered in XM, I circled the building and filled my tanks and drove down the road to the portal. The Schwabenhof German pub was my target, well the heavily weathered sign at the bottom of the HILL to the pub. I pulled off on the side of the road and got a peak at the portal. JakeAK must have just hit Level 4 as this was the first time I had ever seen him post up Level 4 resonators. I opened up my Ingress Calculator and ran the numbers. Being only Level 3, I can only fire Level 3 and below weapons, the XMP bursters. I looked at the info and figured I could do it, if I got smart. The resonators circle around the portal, at the 8 different points of the compass, at about 40 meters from the center. I needed to be standing right on top them to do maximum damage. So I hopped out, back into the cold and started running around over frozen snow banks firing my bursters. Geekscape playing over my headphones, Jon talking to an EX-NFL star about Skyrim.

WELCOME TO THE SCHWAB!
WELCOME TO THE SCHWAB!

Soon the resonators started falling. JakeAK would be getting emails of my attack, but I doubt he’d come back out. I ran over another snow bank, but this one wasn’t solid on the back. I fell into snow up to my knee, but was right on top of a resonator, so I continued to fire. My shots flying outwards in a circle, doing direct damage at my feet and less at the edges. I was hitting three at once from this spot, and soon three fell. I dug myself out and took inventory. Three damaged resonators left, two Level 3 and one at 4. I was running out of gear so all my shots had to count. I looked at their location, two were on the other side of the road. I got to the edge of Palmer-Wasilla Highway and ran across. It’s called a highway but they’re kidding themselves. Two lanes a highway does not make. Not a lot of traffic at 1 AM.

I got to the other side and started to make my shots. Hitting two resonators at once. Jon was talking about seeing a geek movie at SXSW, he was worried that it would just end up being a parody movie, made by people that were not geeks. I wondered what he would think of me right now, fighting a fake intergalactic war on my phone. In a ditch. At 1 AM. The two resonators I was attacking fell. Only one Level 4 remained. It was severly damaged but I had used a lot of gear. So, I ran back to my warm truck and parked right on top of it. I fired and fired. Chipping away at the weak resonator. If I can destroy this I can recapture the Portal and claim control for the Enlightened. I fired and fired. More and more damage coming off. I fired and fired. Victory was soon mine. I fired and fired and…nothing. I had shot off my last Level 1 burster. The resonator still stood. So damaged it was practically on fire, but it still stood. Its blue glow signaled it was still under Resistance control.

It was a valiant effort for a lone Level 3, but I did not succeed. I sent a text to my friend Dylan, letting him know of my attack. He was surely asleep but I hoped he would wake up and come finish it off. I put my truck into gear and drove home.

Ingress San Diego
This is downtown San Diego. Comic Con 2013 is going to be freaking insane!

Ingress is a game, but it is a different kind of game. It gets lazy nerds outside, running down streets, through ditches and over snow banks. It has introduced me and my friends to cool new people. We have run into people from the other team while on a raid. Dylan and I were in a town halfway to Anchorage, Eagle River, and were attacking portals and creating control fields. We had taken a few and gotten to our last portals of the run and a car pulled in behind us. I got out and said hello to a player from the other team, Tarpon. A really great guy who we got to chat with. He told us that he got emails of our attacks and planned to wait for us at the library, hoping we would keep attacking and he’d try to stop us by repairing our damage. He then told us he was thwarted when he saw us drive through the library parking lot to just collect XM.

This is just one of our encounters with Ingress. The people we’ve met have all been awesome. I can always expect to meet a nice geeky person at a Portal. I mean you have to be PRETTY nerdy to go on a city wide raid with eight other players, that was fun in itself! Finding the hiding resistance player in the parking lot to the Hockey arena was hilarious.

I highly suggest anyone with an Android phone go the official site and request an invite. You can play this anywhere! I was watching the Intel maps for the Vatican when the new Pope was being announced, watching Portals change sides faster than a strobe light was entertaining. A lot of those guests at the Vatican that day must have players.

Be sure to check out the official Ingress site. Apply for a code and hopefully you can start playing and meeting new people and finding new places that you never knew existed!

EEEEEEIIIIIGHHHHTTT DAYS!!! EEIIIIGHTTTT DAAAAAAAYS! Bioshock Infinite will be soaring into homes an March 26th! I am actually starting to be excited over it, especially after this action packed TV spot! Lets just hope we aren’t getting another damsel in distress on our hands!

So this just in, the two BIGGEST zombie franchises are coming together in what can ONLY be described as a chocolate-peanut butter situation. From the posted press release:

Capcom and Valve are pleased to announce the Resident Evil® 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 project. This crossover project between two of the interactive entertainment industry’s most respected publishers will see characters from Left 4 Dead™ 2 featured exclusively in the forthcoming PC version of Resident Evil® 6, while enemies from Resident Evil 6 will invade the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2. All content will be made available completely free for fans of either game to access and play.

Owners of Resident Evil 6 PC will be able to select one of four survivors from Left 4 Dead 2’s iconic cast – Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle – when playing PC exclusive mode, The Mercenaries No Mercy. Each character will have a special customized weapon load-out created just for use in Resident Evil 6. In addition to the four survivors, two of the infamous Special Infected zombies from the Left 4 Dead franchise – the Witch and Mini Tank – will also make a cameo appearance in this mode, relentlessly attacking players regardless of whether a character from Left 4 Dead 2 or Resident Evil 6 is chosen. This new and exclusive content will automatically be downloaded in the background to all owners of the PC version of Resident Evil 6 from April 5.

Making the leap to the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 will be some of Resident Evil 6’s most fearsome enemies – Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman. All three characters were brought to life in Left 4 Dead 2 by Valve’s renowned developers using its Steam Workshop tools. Owners of the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 will be able to face a new deadly challenge when Resident Evil 6 characters infect Valve’s classic zombie title this spring.

Commenting on the crossover project, Chet Faliszek from Valve stated: “We’re huge Resident Evil fans, so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it.”

Resident Evil 6 Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi added: “The Resident Evil 6 team really enjoyed working on this crossover, and we’re confident that our fans will have a great time with it too! We hope you enjoy this unique content.”

That is all we got… besides this SWEET Developer Journal and these screenshots!

When we get more info we will keep you posted!

With the last expansion for Battlefield 3, End Game has been released and is AWESOME! So I guess EA was bored with no upcoming Battlefield content on the horizon, so they let slip the cover art for the next in the series. Battlefield 4. Lets take a look at the WHOLE THANG!

That looks….a lot like the same old thing. The soldier has what appears to be holding a EBR rifle, based off the M14 rifle. He also appears to be holding a USP pistol. The tank to his back right looks like an older Vietnam era tank (perhaps a T-55?), but we got ourselves a modern Abrams to his left.

I can speculate that we will see our game going into China, as Shanghai cityscape can be seen in this photo.

No more info about this game has been released, but the rumours are that we may see it released this Holiday season. That makes me excited and sad at the same time. Hopefully we can get some carry over from BF3, as I don’t want to see that game die right away and the great Battlefield series go the way of the CoD.

Damn this is exciting news! Last October a few images leaked, for a new first person XBLA game called Star Wars: First Assault, and just recently the guys over at Kotaku were able to release details on the game. Most intriguing bit of news was that is supposed to be a predecessor to the long lost Battlefront III. Well today, we got our hands on some leaked footage from the game, also from our friends at Kotaku.

Star Wars First Assault Footage by AGBLeaks

That is some crazy cool looking stuff right there! We get a peak of some new weapons, and what looks like a riot shield from long, long ago. The one thing I feel comfortable speculating is one of the game types, it appears that there will be a bomb transport gametype, like the one in Team Fortress 2.

No other news has been put out/leaked as of yet, but what we got in the last few days is AWESOME! Being a hardcore Battlefront I and II fan, I cannot be more excited!

Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he debuted the trailer for the upcoming film that tells the REAL story of how Osama Bin Laden was killed. No scientifically impossible stealth helicopters, no drone strikes and no burials at sea. Just a bulletproof man from the hood.

Fifty Cent is one of my personal heroes. He is an all around great guy, puts out some good tunes and has a great sense of humor. One of my favorite video games of all time is his Xbox 360 “Blood on the Sand” (Original title was Piece in the East) where he and his G-Unit go after a diamond encrusted skull that was stolen from him after a concert in Iraq. He is one of those great entertainers that can sit back and poke fun at himself.

We at Geekscape are watching the Sony Playstation Live conference. If you can’t watch along with us, stay glued to this page for constant updates!

Current gen consoles are very limited and have reached their peak. Sony approached developers in 2008 to discuss what they wanted to find in a new console. PS4 is the proper evolution of gaming platforms.

The architecture of the console is very PC. Running on x86. Will have 8 Gigs of unified memory.

All games will be live demos. They just revealed the DualShock 4. It looks just like the leaked photos. Enhanced rumble, tighter buttons, lower latency, touchpad on the front of the controller, light bar is used to identify players easily. Stereo camera used to track players in real space along side the light bar.

Unreal Engine 4 running live. Full GPU acceleration. CPU and GPU are on the same physical die, and the new system will use GDDR-5 memory.

Demo of 1 million objects running on the HAVOK engine. A bunch of polygons created and dropped over a map and all seem to have proper weight.

New game being demoed from Japan Studios titled KNACK. Features a character that is made up of bits and pieces that can change his shape. Looks like Advanced Wars meets Warhammer meets Ratchet and Clank.

New Playstation UI focuses on immediateness. Play state can be saved from ram. Press the power button and the system will go into sleep mode and save exactly where you left off. New mode will allow for updates while the system is doing other things. New digital titles can be played while data is still being downloaded.

New PS4 interface being shown. Looks like XBOX blade system, crazy close. Gameplay can be recorded and uploaded while you still play the game. Hit one button, clip the footage and upload.

His goal is to create the fastest gaming network. When players start a game, you can automatically join your friends. Using the GuyKai cloud, you can live stream and demo purchases before you buy. You will be able to try almost anything.

Social gaming is at the core of the Playstation 4. Integration with Facebook and ustream. This network is dedicated to games, he made sure to emphasize.

Letting friends look over your shoulders. You can request assistance from friends to help you in game. Let them take over your controller.

Base hardware was designed to integrate social networks in all aspects. Will link PS4 with Vita, phones and tablets. Remote play will be used on second screens. It is so important that they built it into the hardware. Very XBOX smartglass like.

PS Vita integration is key. Remote play will let you play your PS4 games on the Vita. Very WiiU tablet like. Knack is being demoed on Vita.

GuyKai technology integrated into Remote Play. Makes the PS4 a server and the Vita a client to access the full power of the PS4.

New content services, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon instant on, Playstation Music, MLB and more.

PS3 games will not run native on PS4, but they are working on getting integration and game longevity. Their plan is to have all consoles being able to have their games played on PS4. PS1, PS2, Vita, PSP ETC. New Playstation network and the GuyKai cloud will allow all past present and future games available to users. Features will be pushed out in phases.

Video is running from developer interviews. Developers were approached and had a hand in forming the PS4. Simple and Elegance balance was the focus from developers. General consensus of the video is Devs are happy with what PS4 is. Immediacy is key. Boot times are non existent. New devices that are supported so your Playstation experience can be taken out of the living room.

Mike Denny from World Wide Studios is on the stage.

New games going to be previewed. Herman Holst(?) from Guerrla games is on the stage. Helgast and ??? are being talked about. Killzone Shadownfall is being demoed.

Killzone looks amazing, big sweeping planet with Star Wars looking buildings. Helicopter flying over and is landing, player jumps out. Game looks great, a lot of things moving on screen at once. Classic Killzone blur is still present.

Game must be being rendered live, NPC was pushed and just glitched out. NPCs are having their own conversations as the player moves through the courtyard. Explosions and alarm just raised. WHOA DAMN! BIG EXPLOSION! Tons of particles.

The guard that lead you into the court yard is now excevuting injured people. Is actually a Helgast in a cloaking disguise. Player just killed him and stole his weapon.

Stream is kind of lagging, but so far there are a TON of particles being rendered on screen, buildings are burning and falling apart. The sounds in the game are pretty good. Minigun being fired has tremendous volume.

Player just pulled a MirrorsEdge and jumped onto a fleeing enemy helicopter. Sweeping vista of the city is present. Player is hanging from the helicopter and attacking it. So many things moving and being rendered at once. Smoke looks fantastic.

Player plants C4 on helicopter and pulls an epic move as he jumps off and lands without a hitch. Demo ends with robotech looking helicopters surrounding player.

Racing game is now being demoed. Evolution Studios Game. DriveClub. Demo ended, just showed a few drivers hopping in cars and starting. Game is called Drive Club. Evo Studios director on stage.

Drive Club has been in dev and concept for over 10 years. All about social racing. Letting players drive anything everywhere.

Various car company logos on screen, companies were approached. Evo Studios dev says the next generation of games are about us the gamers. DriveClub is about racing in a team, racing in clubs against other clubs. Rewards you for playing in groups.

From quick races to 1000 player weekend tourneys. First person view emphasized. Hennesy Viper and Konensigigigigigz models on screen. Completely been remodeled in the game, even metallic flake paint and fibers and threads so they all react with the light.

Stream is lagging up but the game looks pretty damn good. You know I will grab a copy of this!

Bald guy on stage, talking about being tear gassed in 2009 at a political rally. Asks the audience if the police are ACTUALLY there to protect us. Talking about 1 camera per every 14 citizen of London. Talking about US government monitoring, 4 in 1200 people have been monitored by us. Talking about wasting time in TSA lines. WHAT IS THIS GUY DOING? Now he is asking what happens if people become superheroes, living breathing weapons. These people can walk through metal detectors and wreck havock.

Dev is Nate Fox, Suckerpunch studios new game for PS4 is being demoed.

Security checkpoint is on screen, travelers being monitored. WE ARE HERE FOR YOUR SAFETY being broadcasted over loud speakers. Sounds like the SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING stuff you can hear in airports.

Super powered guy just showed up and started wrecking the place. Looks into security camera and said YOU ARE NOT IN CONTROL. Rage Against the Machine being played. lol

Refreshing stream.

Playstation will remain steadfast in support of Indie Devs. Indie Devs will be able to sell their products right on PSN. Dev of Braid is taking the stage to show his new game that will debut on PS4. John Blow.

New game is called The Witnessed, where you explore an abandoned island where you explore it’s mysteries. Game is all about epiphany. Taking the player from confusion to solution. Witness focuses on the AH HA moment in gaming. Game takes place in an open world where you can go everywhere.

Witness open world is designed about being compact instead of vast, everything is there for a reason. No filler gameplay will be in the Witness. It is a puzzle game and each puzzle has an idea(?) in it that the devs are trying to convey. The game will have 25 hours of gameplay and will launch on PS4. The game will take place mostly in your mind(?) trailer being rolled.

First person game. Kind of stylizied island, sweeping over various landscapes. A turntable and a record are in a tree stump and start playing a song. Puzzles being shown, hard to describe. Looks like Pipe Panic game. Getting major Myst/Riven vibes.

Check the KillZone facebook page to view the live gameplay that was automatically shared from the stage. Facebook.com/killzone. Way to go back three steps guy.

Quantic Dream studio dev David Cage on stage. lol that Ahmed.

His most looked for feature on a console is player emotion. He wants to be able to suspend disbelief and make them believe in a new reality. Going over buzzwords right now, yeah a lot of buzzwords showing up on the screen.

Great Train Robbery being shown on the screen. Talking about old silent films… David is emphasizing emotion a lot. Is saying it almost any other word. PS4 is the first time emotion can be possible. He is listing off the games his studio have done, polygon count.

Quantic Studio character being demoed live on screen. Old man, looks like a Pixar film. Full shadowed polygons on the guys face. Emotions can be conveyed. The guys face is VERY detailed, lets pray LA NOIRE 2 uses this tech.

PS4 is the hardware this guy wants, he is able to convey his emotion.

Alex Evans from Media Molecule takes the stage, going over his creative process. He wants to take creative gaming and bring it to the home.

Media Molecule wants to bring creation to the player and keep it from being disjointed. Media Molecule wants to let players record their dreams. Stream just jumped. How can people create digitally…steam just jumped again.

The perfect tool for 3D creation is the Move Controller? They are going to marry the Move with the PS4. Medi Molecule has created a sculpting tool with the Move. Tool being demoed on screen. A guy is standing in a room with a Move and is sculpting some clay, Alex says it’s cloud watching but with your hands?

My office phone just rang and I missed it shit. A guitar is now on screen and two people with Move controllers are manipulating two characters in 3D space, one of them has picked up a guitar and is now shredding.

OH GOD! WII MUSIC! ITS FUCKING WII MUSIC!

Playstation 4 is the “Creative Console”.

Main guy is back on the stage. Every third party developer will support PS4. Bunch of logos on screen. Yoshinori Ono from Capcom is taking the stage.

He is not going to talk about Street Fighter. MMMM, his accent is going to make this tough.

Ohayo gozaimasu! Translater is taking over. Ono is talking about how the PS1 let them create Biohazard (resident evil) with pure 3D characters.

I just realized I met Ono at SDCC, he was dressed as Blanka at the time.

New game is being demoed. The new engine from Capsom, Panta Rhei.

New game being demoed “Deep Down”, a bunch of Tolkien looking bandits are in a cave, being gruff and are searching for something. Big old dragon thing just showed up, I am getting major monster hunter vibes. DAMN this game looks great! We can really see the PS4 being able to render all these various flame particles.

Square Enix is up next.

Yoshihisa Hashimoto is on the stage from Square. Chief Tech Officer.

Real time cinematech demo will be shown. We see a middle eastern looking Mos Eisley looking town. Modern age, a car is driving through a city. A priest is in a cave summoning a demon? Terrorists just showed up and ruined his day.

AK-47s VS. Magic. One of the spell casters took off her hood, VERY Final Fantasy looking girl. One of the terrorists shot a dog with a some chemical and it is turning into a monster. Now the girl is transforming. Cloverfield cam is making this hard to tell whats going on. Girl is now being attacked and the demon from the cave saved her. Looks like a dragoon, was Panzer Dragoon a Square game?

The tech demo was the aimed for quality for Square’s all new next gen games. Yoshi is back and emphasizing the hardware and social again. They are REALLY hammering this social gaming thing.

Shinji Hashimoto is taking the stage to talk about ONE MORE THING!  Brand Director of Final Fantasy. He has ONE THING TO SAY!

New Final Fantasy title is being developed…he just said be prepared for E3….cmon Shinji!

Ubisoft dev is taking the stage. Yves Guillemot on stage. He asked, “WHO REALLY CONTROLS OUR LIVES?” The answer is ALL OF US!

Ubi is creating games that can be played whenever and wherever and will put players together everywhere.  Deeper, richer and more believable games. Jonathan Morrant is on stage now and is talking about Ubi’s new game WatchDogs.

Refreshing Stream.

Jonathan says everything he is, and all that he loves are all on his phone. WatchDogs is about complete control over everything. Everything is connect. DISCOVER THAT EVERYONE IS CONNECTED!

Game takes place in Chicago and is about tapping in and taking over peoples lives. Full open world to explore. Nick is on stage demoing Watch Dogs.

Third person view of a thuggy looking guy walking around in Chicago. This looks pretty fucking good! EVERYONE is broadcasting.  Player is targeting homeless guy, his full info shows up on screen, we see is an Iraq War Vet. Player is hacking ATM and taking cash.

Player is targeting a girl, her VICTIM probability is rising. Player targeting a guy, his CRIME probability is rising, he tries to mug the girl and the player interrupts and takes chase. Through alley. We hear 911 call, the police are after the player. Player has killed mugger. Player hacked automatic road blocks that raised up and blocked police.

This looks like Urab Assassins Creed. Player is jumping up on a building and hacked a L-Train. This game looks ballistic. I’m sold! Tag line is Connection is power.

New dev is taking stage, first time ever on stage, Blizzard manager Chris Metzen.

I’VE MET THIS GUY!

Blizzard and Sony have entered a strategic partnership, in order to take over the world. OK Chris. He’s going over Blizzards history.

Says the company has been trying to consider what franchise to bring to the console. Blizzard will be bringing a new game to PS4. We are hearing the Diablo guitar… Diablo 3 will be on PS4 and PS3…come on I thought this was going to be some good news!

Diablo 3 will feature 4 Player 1 screen COOP. More info at PAX East.

Stream just glitched BAD! Activision Dev is suddenly on the stage.

OH SHIT! IT’S BUNGIE! BUNGIE IS ON THE STAGE! FIRST TIME IN A DECADE! WHERES MY HALOZ?!?!??!

The stream is clipping bad for me, more glimpses of ingame footage of new Bungie game Destiny.

Game looks great, Halo meets hyper gritty Sci Fi.

A few Bungie guys just got on stage to talk about Destiny. They are super happy about being independent. Destiny is an online connected shooter. Looks like it will really use all the features of the PS4.

All the Bungies guys must have the same Mom, they all dressed the same!

The arrival of PS4 will dramatically change how games are played.

AND THATS A WRAP! YOU CAN GET YOUR OWN PS4 THIS HOLIDAY!

Former Sony UK employee, Kenny Linder, was talking the talk recently on the NeoGaf Forums. He confirms that the production of the newest game from Team Ico, The Last Guardian, has been moved to the PS4 and has been on that platform for some time.

Couple this with the announcement from the Lead Designer,  Fumitu Ueda, saying that the game is still being worked on and will be released, I would be surprised to NOT see any mention of it at Sony’s big press event next Wednesday.

Be sure to check back here on the 20th so we can dish out more details of what Sony is announcing, Lets pray that they don’t lock down the system from used game play.

Yesterday I had the great opportunity to interview Daniel Ingram, a two time Emmy nominee for his work on My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Being a huge fan of the show, and moreso the music I was so excited to be able to talk to the man behind the tunes. I was even MORE nervous. So about 3:30 my time I started to stammer my way through a very interesting interview.

I’ll have my questions posted in BOLD and Daniels responses will be quoted.

So lets get to it, how did you get started making music for cartoons and how did you end up working on My Little Pony?

I’ve always enjoyed making music, I love to make music. I performed throughout school. When I got out of College I was writing music for various shows. Then I got a job making music for the show Martha Speaks, which was really fun.  One day I got a call from the shows producer, Sarah Wall, and she said that she was working on the new My Little Pony with Lauren Faust and that she wanted me to do the music for it. The first song I did was the Pinkies Laugh song from episode two. Then it all kind of grew from there.

I’m a huge fan of the show myself, did you ever think it was going to blow up like it did? And did you ever think it was going to be like by so many different kinds of people?

I never expected it to blow up like it did. I had put Winter Wrap Up on YouTube so that I could show it to somebody, and a few days later I get a call from them saying I was working on something big. That I had a million views on the song. It was crazy.

So last year you were nominated for two Grammies, how was that like?

I was nominated for Emmys, you have to actually have made a soundtrack for Grammies, I WISH I could be nominated for a Grammy.

OH YEAH! Thats right! So how was that like? HAHA! (My nerves had gotten the best of me and I had gotten the two awards mixed up…great.)

It was really awesome. It was really an honor to be nominated. It was fun to go through the whole process.

One of the great things about the Brony fandom for the show is all the music being created around. Do you ever listen to any of the remixes or original songs?

I try to stay away from the original songs, mostly because of conflict of interest. I don’t want to listen to something then a year down the road write something that sounds too familiar. As for the remixes I really like them, it’s exciting to see what some of the fans can produce. Like when Babs Seed came out I was blown away by how many remixes were up so quickly. There is so much out there.

What kind of direction will you be going in Season 4?

Well, I can’t really talk much about Season 4 just yet. I think everyone will like what I have planned.

What do you think about new and emerging genres? There are a lot of Electronic artists in the forefront right now, and are there any new directions you want to go?

Its always exciting to hear new stuff, there is a lot of amazing new music coming out. As for new genres, We have some new things planned for later this year, again I can’t talk about it, but the fans will definitely like it.

Walk me through your recording process, do you work on the tunes first or lyrics? And do you record everything, I guess traditionally or do you use synths and tools like Ableton?

I use a little of both really, first I like to plan out the lyrics. Its good to have something upbeat and happy to start with. So I write the lyrics and then play a piano or play the guitar while I sing them. Then I get with a singer and record a Piano Demo which is just the song in it’s rawest form. That is what we submit and then when it gets the go ahead we record the full piece.

So I guess this is kind of a cliched question, but are there any artists out there that you would love to record with?

Living or dead?

Why not both?!

Haha, well I’d love to play with Gregory Alan Isakov. I really like what he is putting out and it would be fun to play with him. As for someone just to pick their brain I’d have to say Randy Newman. It would be really great to talk to him.

I know the coronation concert is…is it this week or was it last?

It was just this last week.

How was that were you able to go?

Yes! I did get to go, I flew down for a few days. It was awesome. It was really cool to go to the event and be able to hear some of the stuff I wrote performed live. It was a great experience seeing all these kids having fun.

So I think I asked all that I wanted to, I am just a really big fan of your work.

What is your favorite song from the show?

Winter Wrap Up hands down. I was just going along with the show watching a few episodes, and when I heard it I was blown away and hooked. I couldn’t believe something that good was coming from a cartoon.

Haha! Thanks! It’s funny you mentioned that, I was on a plane recently and that was the only song I had on my iPad so I thought “Hey, I wrote this over a year ago why not listen to it”. It was a fun listening to it again after so long.

Do you have a solo career or do you write music outside of shows?

Well, I’m pretty busy right now. The HUB has got me on My Little Pony and Littlest Petshop, so I have a full schedule. I’d love to try something eventually.

After that we had our goodbyes and said farewell. Daniel is a very soft spoken guy and it is obvious from just talking with him that he really loves what he does. Making great music for some of our favorite shows.

Be sure to check out the newest episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is magic this Saturday the 16th at 10:30 AM EST to hear more of Daniel’s work!

HOT OFF THE PRESSES! The donations for the upcomming sequel to one of gaming histories most important games is well on its way, and the guys over at inXile games have just put out their first piece of footage of the game! Watch a few character intros and follow along with Development Director Chris Keenan as he shows off how the game works.

If you aren’t privy to what Wasteland is, let me dish out some knowledge.

Way back in 1988 a game called Wasteland came out. It was a nifty RPG set in a post nuclear America. Players take up the role of the Desert Rangers, the last of the US Army, and go out defending what is left of human civilization. Sound familiar? Kind of Fallout familiar? Well, as it turns out, Wasteland was the inspiration for the entire Fallout series, and even pays homage to the Desert Rangers in New Vegas.

Back in March of 2012 a Kickstarter campaign was created in or

der to fund a proper sequel to such an important game. Their goal of $900,000 was reached in 43 fricken hours! And what we just watched is the fruit of their labor!

Everything looks incredible to me, and I am getting some great vibes of the Commando games. I am VERY excited for this, and cannot wait for more news. You can be sure we will keep you guys up to date!

Be sure to check out the developers site HERE where you can pre-order/donate and help the cause!

Now to explain to my coworkers why I was editing a picture of myself…

From the Official Battlefield Blog:

All-new fast and agile dirt bike
When building End Game, high-speed warfare was our mantra. Nothing illustrates this better than the new fast and agile dirt bike, that lets you take a friend to the frontlines at high speed while doing wheelies and quick stops. It’s a true two-wheel vehicle with its own physics engine that is a perfect fit for our returning game mode Capture the Flag.

We have hidden a lot of cool jumps for you on all maps that you can attempt if you need a quick getaway in a daredevil fashion. The dirt bike is clearly the star among the new vehicles in End Game, and we will return shortly with an in-depth blog post focused solely on this agile and versatile addition to the ever-growing Battlefield vehicle line-up.

Call for reinforcements with the new dropship
But that’s not all. You can also jump into the seat of two new AA vehicles or use the new dropship to call in reinforcements or parachute in behind enemy lines. The AA vehicles is the first time in Battlefield 3 that a troop transport has been fitted with a roof mounted AA turret in addition to a rocket launcher, effectively making it able to defend against both ground and air vehicles. The dropship gets awarded to whatever team holds the central flag in Conquest mode and lets you drop in an additional Infantry Fighting Vehicle by parachute, forcing the enemy to keep close tabs on your position or risk being overrun.

Fight all year around
End Game contains four vast and varied maps, each inspired by one of the four seasons. If there’s something our line of expansion packs have shown, it’s how many different flavors of combat Battlefield 3 can cater for. From the classic gameplay of Back to Karkand to the tight infantry combat on Close Quarters and massive all-out vehicle warfare of Armored Kill – we love to give our fans new experiences while staying true to the Battlefield core.

By making each map distinctly unique, End Game serves as a beautiful reminder of the broad range of vistas we can deliver with the Frostbite 2 engine, and how the environment influences gameplay in subtle ways. From the beautiful fall-themed Operation Riverside, with its many rivers and electrical sub-stations, to snowy Sabalan Pipeline, End Game brings all of your favorite settings into one tight package.

The return of Capture the Flag and Air Superiority
Capture the Flag is a classic multiplayer game mode for anyone interested in shooters, and it was actually part of the original Battlefield 1942 released more than 10 years ago. End Game marks the first time in a decade that Capture the Flag returns to the Battlefield, and we think it’s a perfect fit with the new theme of high-speed warfare and mobility that the dirt bike brings to the game. Stay tuned for an in-depth look at our Battlefield version of Capture the Flag in a later blog post in this series.

Also new for End Game is the jet-based Air Superiority game mode where players can take part in massive dogfights, much like when this game mode first appeared in Battlefield 1943. If you’re a Premium member, you can watch an exclusive video right now featuring extended gameplay from Air Superiority mode. Just head to the Battlelog Premium videos section to check it out. We will return with in-depth Air Superiority information later in this blog series, so stay tuned for that.

Well, you’re in luck, as I have here a copy of that prized Battlefield Premium trailer for Air Superiority.

I’m getting SO PUMPED RIGHT NOW! After getting my mind blown by that intense Mad Max style chase, I lost it when I saw full on Dog Fight maps.

You can your friends can enjoy End Game this March, on PC, XBOX 360 and PS3!

Just announced today, Cartoon Network is dishing out a whole bunch of new shows, including a brand new computer generated special starring our favorite super powered youngsters.

The guys over at Bleeding Cool posted up the info and this picture of the redesigned characters:

powerpuff-girls

Besides their obvious look change, the crew behind the scenes have changed. Gone is the creator, Craig McCraken, as he is busy on another show for Disney. The new PPG’s are being directed by Dave Smith and have been re-designed by Kevin Dart.

The same cast is returning to lend their voices, as well as Beatle Ringo Starr. He is credited as playing Fibonnaci Sequins and will be performing a song entitled ” I Wish I Was A Powerpuff Girl ” and leads me to believe that he may either be a new villain or some kind of super fan that gets in the way at some point.

No other info has been released, but when it does you can be sure we well keep you informed.

This just in! THIS JUST IN! French newspaper Le Parisien have just broke the news that two of the most influential electronic musicians, Daft Punk, have signed a new deal with Sony Music and will have a new album out THIS SPRING!

In case you can’t read Fancy, take a gander at the nice translated version right here:

Daft Punk has found a new home. After three albums with EMI, the helmeted duo is about to sign with Sony for his next album. Unless the contract is already signed. Not clear with these two, who cultivate secrecy since their inception and anonymity, although some have been privileged glimpse Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo, openly, at the launch party for the album Kavinsky his friend last week. But the case is heard. The fourth album of Daft Punk released this spring, Sony, its subsidiary Columbia.

After passing up a few scoring gigs while they were busy on the Tron Soundtrack, they are finally going back to working on their own tracks.

Nothing else to report, but I guarantee that if you are any kind of Geek then you have your own favorite Daft Punk tune already running through you head, and we will keep you up to date when more news is released!

After being teased, and teased, and teased, and delayed, and delayed, we finally are about to witness the newest season of the geekiest car show on television! Top Gear Series 19 debuts January 27th! Check out the trailer below!

Just seeing those clips has got my all sorts of excited! No official word yet on the USA release schedule, but BBCA has been doing pretty good with Doctor Who releases, and I am sure that if you are an intrepid Top Gear fan you know how to watch the latest episodes!

A synopsis of the first episode was compiled on Wikipedia:

Jeremy attempts to build a car that’s even smaller than the Peel P50.  James road tests the new 205mph Bentley Continental GT Speed by taking it out on a British Rally stage.  Richard is out on the test track in the new Pagani Huayra.

My favorite British show is back baby!

Way back in May we told you about CD Projekt Reds newest title, Cyberpunk 2077. The groundbreaking game designer Mike Pondsmith is bringing his pen and paper game to our controllers with the help of the Polish developer. Well today we got ourselves a nice teaser trailer. So how about you watch it? Right now!

Damn, that was fun to watch! First off, as an electronic DJ I am so fucking happy they didn’t go with a Dubstep song here. From the video press release:

The teaser shows how the Psycho Squad might acquire a new member.

The Psycho Squad specializes in combating “psychos” — individuals who overuse implants and substances that boost or otherwise alter the human body.

There comes a point when they overdose on these innovations, and their bodies start to rebel against their biological body parts as well as all things organic around them. Simply put, they start killing people, who they now derisively call “meatbags.”

When a psycho goes on the rampage, strange things can happen. There’s carnage, and the psycho might be taken down by regular police, but they’re not always able to get the job done.

When things spin out of control, they call in MAX-TAC (Maximum Force Tactical Division), popularly called the Psycho Squad.

Not much more news, it is just a teaser and all, but we got eyes on what kind of world we will be exploring. It feels like a combination of Blade Runner and the Total Recall remake. I am very excited to see what comes of this game when it finally is released.

For more info on the game check out their official website HERE.
