There’s a The Boondock Saints panel at this weekends Comikaze but it looks like you don’t have to wait to find out that the cult classic is getting another sequel. Murphy MacManus himself, Norman Reedus, confirms that we are indeed getting a follow up to 2009’s The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. Reedus told IFC:

“I’m in L.A right now. I’m meeting with Sean [Patrick Flanery] and Troy [Duffy] tonight. I just landed a couple hours ago and tonight I’m going over to Troy’s house with Sean. It’s definitely in the works. Look for it. It’s gonna be crazy.”

Are you guys ready for the MacManus brothers to return to the big screen at least one more time? This one should definitely do better at the box office than the previous two with the growing popularity of Norman Reedus’ character on The Walking Dead. There is no script yet but we should definitely expect to find out more details this Sunday and it looks like everyone is on board for this third outing. Now I am curious if we will we see Willem DeFoe and Julie Benz reprise their roles as well. Check back this weekend for any new details revealed at Comikaze.

Joining Ralph in this new poster for the movie we have M. Bison, Q-Bert, Neff from Altered Beast), a ghost from Pac-man, Zanghief, Coily The Snake, Dr. Robotnik and Sonic The Hedgehog.

The bad-guy character Ralph, in the classic game Fix-It Felix Jr., who longs to be a hero brings trouble to his entire arcade after sneaking into a new first-person shooter game and unleashing a deadly enemy.

Wreck-It Ralph hits theaters on November 2nd!

Just last week Marvel filed for trademarks for the character Marvelman/Miracleman and this Marvel NOW! teaser hit the net earlier today. After purchasing the rights to the character in 2009 we’ve yet to see Marvel do anything with him. Marvel has promised a major announcement at the New York Comic Con, which they’ve described as “the biggest new launch of 2013”, has led to many coming to the conclusion that this teaser has something to do with the character.

Not too long ago two teasers were released for upcoming Marvel NOW! titles. One that read “Survive”, which turned out to be Avengers Arena, and then a second with the word “Wanted” that turned out to be hard to figure out. Well, this December Cable returns the lead the team he began in Cable And X-Force from Dennis Hopeless and Salvador Larocca. But this time around X-Force won’t just be a team behind the scenes but the world’s most wanted mutant terrorists. With a line-up consisting of Cable, Forge, Domino, Colossus and Dr. Nemesis this book definitely promises to be an interesting read.

“You have Cable, Forge, Domino, Colossus and Dr. Nemesis. In my mind this is a crime series, so I tried to cast the book like you would a bank robbery. This isn’t a family or a school. It’s a crew. A safe cracker may hate her getaway man, but at the end of the night, she still needs him to drive the car. Cable puts the team together for their skills, not because he thinks they’ll get along. Our first arc is the story of how Cable and his X-Force become the world’s Most Wanted mutant terrorists. You know how at the beginning and end of every “Mission Impossible” movie Tom Cruise is a spy, but in the middle he’s an international criminal on the run from the whole world? That’s what we’re doing here. How hard is it to save the world when you’re also on the run from the law?”

Were you worried that you were going to be getting another version of Sylvester Stallone’s ridiculous Judge Dredd from 1995? Well, ease your fears because this time around the film is actually based on the graphic novels themselves. Pete Travis’ Dredd 3D  is gritty, bloody, violent, funny and smart all at the same time. A task that we see many movies try to accomplish but fail miserably at.

Set over the course of one single day, we see the veteran judge Dredd taking rookie Anderson out for assessment. Is it a complex plot? No, and it doesn’t try to be and that’s a good thing. But don’t take that as me saying that the script is bad. It’s quite the opposite. Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine) does a fantastic job with this one. Just like in the comics, you get a straightforward story that doesn’t become lost and confused by stupid side plots and unnecessary back stories.  I’m not going to get into the plot of the movie because if you don’t know it by now…. well, that means you haven’t seen a single trailer (which is a good thing in this spoiler-filled day and age).

So, let’s start it off with the action sequences. They are all fantastically shot and pretty damn exciting. This movie is action packed and you’re going to want to see this one in 3D at least one of the times that you see it. Yes, you definitely are going to see this more than once. The 3D sequences in slow-motion are visually dazzling. And calling this movie violent is one hell of an understatement. There’s no friendly Rob Schneider material here. Seeing bullets fly through body parts in slow motion never looked so beautiful, especially with the very well-fitting electronic soundtrack that accompanies the movie. However, the real highlight of Dredd 3D is the performances. Yes. You read that right. The performances!

Karl Urban is the law. After seeing this movie I don’t think I am going to accept any actor in the Dredd role down the line. Hopefully, we won’t have to. Even though we never see his eyes underneath the helmet (a promise that the filmmakers kept from the get go), Urban nails the intensity and determination of Dredd. He delivers a great performance as ol’ Stoney Face, using his mouth and chin alone. And if you were worried about Olivia Thirlby as Anderson you can relax because Thirlby is great. She plays the sensitive, but tough, Psy-Judge brilliantly and the mind-fuck scene between her and a member of Ma-Ma’s gang is definitely one of the best scenes in the movie. Lena Headey is great as Ma-Ma and quite intimidating but definitely could have used a bit more screen time.

Ultimately, Dredd 3D is an ultra-violent thrill ride from start to end that proves that big, action-packed thrillers don’t need to be stupid to leave their mark on the genre. The film definitely has appeal to fans of Dredd’s 2000AD origins and those who have never even heard of Judge Dredd. And trust me on this, pay the few extra dollars and see it in 3D. It’s one of the few movies with visuals that justify the expense. In the end, Dredd 3D is definitely deserving of a sequel and besides, don’t us fans want to finally see the Dark Judges make their way to the screen? I know I do.

Rating: 4.5/5

Dredd 3D is the law (and in theaters) on September 21st!

With the announcement of the new S.H.I.E.L.D. television series, many have been wondering if Item 47 stars Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Bradford would be making their way onto the show. Whedon has promised a new cast of characters and when asked by Crave Online if we would see the two appearing in the series:

I honestly do not think they are available because I think she is on another show. We’re building it with a new group of people. They were great and that had a lot to do with why we are making the show, but we are starting fresh.

Bummer. Caplan and Bradford were both great in the Marvel One-Shot and I personally had hoped to see more of them in the future. So, who do you think we will be seeing in the cast of the new series? Is there any S.H.I.E.L.D. agents you guys would like to see featured?

While it’s short it’s definitely full of action and enough to get you pumped on this next season. Fight the dead. Fear the living.

In the highly anticipated new season, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his fellow survivors continue to seek refuge in a desolate and post-apocalyptic world and soon discover that there are greater forces to fear than just the walking dead. The struggle to survive has never been so perilous.

The Walking Dead returns with season three on October 14th.

This is definitely one creepy looking movie right here starring Jessica Chastain (Lawless) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game Of Thrones). I’m pretty sure now that I posted this Jonathan will be talking about Ms. Chastain in the next podcast. Let’s just all hope this one is better than Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark turned out to be.

Andres Muschietti directs Mama as his first big film from a script he co-wrote with his sister and producer Barbara Muschietti and “Luther” writer Neil Cross. Guillermo del Toro presents this supernatural thriller that tells the haunting tale of two little girls who disappeared into the woods the day that their parents were killed. When they are rescued years later and begin a new life, they find that someone or something still wants to come tuck them in at night.

Mama hits theaters January 18th, 2013.

Starting on October 25th, John Carpenter’s classic slasher Halloween will be back in theaters to terrify a whole new generation . Mark your calenders kids because you won’t want to miss this one. Justin Beahm’s new mini-doc You Can’t Kill The Boogeyman: 35 Years Of Halloween will also be screening with the film. Check out an all-new poster created for the special event.

Compass International Pictures, Trancas International Films, Screenvision, and HalloweenMovies.com are proud to present the one sheet for this October’s U.S. theatrical re-release of John Carpenter’s 1978 masterpiece, HALLOWEEN. Check out the first trailer for the sequel to the 1974 horror classic! You should know by now that you never go into the basement.

Lionsgate’s “Texas Chainsaw 3D” continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars…

Texas Chainsaw 3D is in theaters January 4, 2013.

Just yesterday it was announced that current Aquaman artist Ivan Reis would be taking over art duties on Justice League. Now USA TODAY revealed that beginning with issue #15 of the series we will see a crossover event with Aquaman called “Throne of Atlantis.” This event will be one of the arcs building towards DC’s upcoming event “The Trinity War”.

Geoff Johns on the crossover:

“They don’t just come up out of the water to say hello. The Justice League is trying to come together and become the team that Aquaman said in issue 12 the team needed to be: a team that trusts each other, that knows each other, and there are no secrets anymore.

There’s still questions of what Atlantis is like and what they do and what they’re capable of and why they exist and who sank Atlantis. There’s all this mythology behind Atlantis that we’re not really sure of and no one really has any answers, and we’re about to get the answers.”

Remember that Survive teaser that we thought could possibly be an ongoing Marvel Zombies title? Well, it seems that Marvel is going Battle Royale with some of their characters in Avengers Arena. Is this a bad thing? Hell no. It means they’re finally starting to trim the fat and get rid of the useless characters that no one cares about. Well, and maybe a few that people do care about.

Writer Dennis Hopeless and artist Kev Walker are going to bring 16 young Marvel heroes together to “fight or die”. In this upcoming series we will see the psychotic Arcade take members of Avengers Academy, The Runaways and more, including Darkhawk who you can see among the group pictured below, to Murder Island. Be prepared because people are going to die.

Writer Dennis Hopeless on the title:

“We really got to cherry pick our cast. That was a lot of fun, almost as much fun as creating the brand new characters. I have a feeling the Braddock Academy kids in particular are going to break some hearts. Not sure if we made it clear yet, but people die in this book.”

Many have been speculating just who will take over on Justice League after Jim Lee leaves the title in a few issues. Well, it’s now been revealed that Ivan Reis, the current artist on Aquaman, will be taking over the title. Geoff Johns commented on Reis taking over art duties on the title:

“There is no other choice for the next A-Star art team on JUSTICE LEAGUE. Ivan Reis and Joe Prado bring power, grace, emotion and epic storytelling worthy of the world’s greatest super heroes. From GREEN LANTERN to BLACKEST NIGHT to AQUAMAN, I couldn’t ask for better collaborators. The second year of JUSTICE LEAGUE will begin an adventurous, mysterious and heroic storyline focusing on our members as their greatest secrets are revealed…and the repercussions change the world. Ivan and Joe begin with a story they were born to draw — THRONE OF ATLANTIS — a story between JUSTICE LEAGUE and AQUAMAN that will have the League experiencing what Aquaman does — they’ll be caught between land and sea. With new relationships developing – like Wonder Woman and Superman – new members coming on – like Shazam! and the all-new Atom — and new threats rising — like Ocean Master & Atlantis — the Justice League will grow and change as we march towards the impending TRINITY WAR.”

Today at the UBS Best Of Americas 2012 Conference Hasbro President Brian Goldner discussed plans for the fourth installment in the highly successful Transformers film franchise. Due to the drop in toy sales between movies due to recurring cast of robots Goldnew stated that “Transformers 4 will have a new cast of [robot] characters and it will be a story revolving around these new characters.”

While this doesn’t exactly mean that won’t be seeing the return of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in the sequel to Transformers: Dark Of The Moon we should expect characters such as Ratchet and such to take the bench. What’s a Transformers movie without Optimus? Oh, wait they did that in the 80’s. Does this mean Sideswipe won’t be back and getting more screen time? Well, damn it. Could we finally see the Dinobots this time around? It has been rumored for quite some time now that they were trying to find a way to introduce the bots into the movies. Is there an Autobot or Decepticon that you would like to see introduced in the fourth installment in the film franchise?

In a conversation with the Omelete, Marvel exec Victoria Alonso revealed that the Ant-Man test reel Edgar Wright filmed and showed in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con is being cleaned up to possilby be released. Maybe they’re making it a teaser to possibly finally announce a release date for Ant-Man?

“What we showed at Comic-Con was a work in progress. We’re working on finishing it, and I think you might see it. Not sure where, but we always listen to the fans. And if the fans demand it we make sure they get it. I don’t know if we are going to post it online, but I don’t have [any reason] to believe we may not.”

I saw this teaser in Hall H and while it was rough I can definitely throw the term “bad ass” around in regards to it. It really showed that if anyone could bring Ant-Man to the big screen it’d be Edgar Wright. I am honestly hoping they do release this soon so I can sit and watch it over and over again. And to be honest one more time after that. Keep harassing Marvel until they release it! So, is Edgar Wright still on board for this?

“Edgar is on board to do it.  He’s going to do one movie before… He wrote a great script and we’re hoping that he will come and work with us.”

Over the past week rumors have been circulating that there would be a director’s cut of The Dark Knight Rises on it’s way prior to the release of Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel. Well, it seems that The Playlist has spoken with Christopher Nolan’s reps and were told that, “…no such plans exist, and reports of an extended cut of the film are incorrect.”

Were you expecting something else? Christopher Nolan definitely isn’t the type to release an extended version of any of his films and any scenes that were left out may make their way onto DVD/Blu-ray releases but don’t expect much. What…was a nearly three hour long movie not enough for you guys? Geez!

Later this year we will see a new Captain America series from Rick Remender and John Romita Jr. coming our way. CBR has revealed a first look a the cover to issue #2 that shows Steve Rogers sporting a bit of a different look. But also looking at the cover…it leads one to wonder who is this mystery child holding Steve’s hand?

Writer Rick Remender on the upcoming series:

“He’s taking down super villains and saving the world and in the midst of all of this, Steve Rogers the person gets lost in the shuffle. He is so exhausted but driven by this sense of duty that when this situation arises and things move forward, he’s going to have a very big reaction. I’ll deal with the fallout from things like ‘Avengers Vs. X-Men’ and how it affects Cap in ‘Uncanny Avengers’ where you’re also getting the return of the Red Skull. This is going to be a very different thing and won’t really deal with those ramifications so much. He’s got his mind on other stuff in this adventure.”

So, remember when Marvel released that teaser for Daniel Way and Steve Dillon’s Marvel NOW! title a week ago? And I jokingly said “Hey, what if it’s a Thunderbolts book with The Punisher and Deadpool on the team?” Well, I guess it turns out that it IS a Thunderbolts book starring The Punisher, Deadpool, Red Hulk, Venom and Elektra. After seeing this line-up you’re sold, I’m sold and we’re all adding this to our pull lists. Check out Steve Dillon’s cover for issue number one of Thunderbolts! Just shut up and take my money Marvel!

Editor Jordan White speaking to Newsarama about the title:

The idea for this team of Thunderbolts actually came from a Marvel retreat, where ideas are flying fast and furiously. The question of how to shake-up Thunderbolts and take it in a new direction came up, and the idea of a Red Hulk-led team got the room excited. From there, the question became who he would tap for his team, and everyone agreed the main roster you see here (Punisher, Venom, Elektra, and Deadpool) would be an awesome team book. Looking for the right fit for this book as far as writers go, Dan Way was at the top of the list — and once we brought the idea to him, he leapt in with both feet, with tons of ideas of his own to add to the mix. He quickly shaped what was a rough idea for a team into a book with a specific idea and direction behind it… and added in a few more characters to the team, who shall be revealed over the first few issues.

Unlike the most recent Thunderbolts, this group is not working for any government program — this is Red Hulk’s team, to do with as he sees fit. In case you forgot, big red’s secret ID is that of General “Thunderbolt” Ross, a well-respected military official who the world thinks was KIA. Well, just because he can’t be part of the American Armed Forces doesn’t mean he can’t put together an armed force of his own (in fact, as a side note, I’d considered suggesting we call the book “Thunderbolt’s” with a possessive, but decided I would be laughed out of editorial if I mentioned it). And again, if you look at the crew ol’ T-Bolt has put together, you can get a sense of the kind of things he might be looking to do with them. They’re a team of loners, but all highly trained and highly skilled as either mercenaries or soldiers. This is a black ops dream team… or perhaps red ops, as the case may be. They’re all characters with their own very particular morality, who do the things they do because they believe in them. They believe they are doing right, even if the world around them might not. Now that they’re working together, they can set their sights even higher… and the world had better look out, because they won’t take no for an answer.”

Take a first look at Geof Darrow’s action packed and bloody as hell variant for Mark Millar & John Romita Jr.’s ‘HIT-GIRL #4’!

Mindy finally gets an ultimatum: No more Hit-Girl or else. But when danger lands on her doorstep, Hit-Girl may face her biggest challenge yet: not spilling blood on the living room carpet. Meanwhile, Red Mist lives out his Bruce Wayne fantasy abroad. A limited edition variant by Geof Darrow will be released for this issue.

About this time a year ago it was revealed that Joss Whedon had completed an entire movie secretly. Yes, somehow the Whedonites didn’t even know about it. What movie was this that slipped under everyone’s radar? Well, the movie was a contemporary adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.

Just recently the film screened at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and it appears that Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have acquired the film. The film starring such Whedon regulars as Amy Acker (The Cabin In The Woods), Fran Cranz (The Cabin In The Woods), Nathan Fillion (Firefly), Alexis Denisof (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Tom Lenk (Angel) and Clark Gregg aka Agent Coulson (The Avengers) was completed in just around 12 days in Santa Monica.

Whedon commented on Lionsgate and Roadside acquiring the film:

“I’m thrilled to be working with my cronies at Lionsgate again, and with The Roadside team. That they all embrace a Shakespearean romance with the same enthusiasm they had for Cabin in the Woods shows that they’re exactly the mad fools we want to be partying – I mean working – with.”

The film will be a joint theatrical release by Lionsgate and sister company Roadside Attractions although no specific date has, as of yet, been announced.

Well. seems yet another image Russian bodybuilder, Olga Kurklina, in her Mother Russia costume has hit the net. They have definitely changed the costume around for director Jeff Wadlow’s Kick-Ass 2. But hopefully they don’t change the story around because some bad stuff is definitely about to happen on that street.

UPDATE: Well, yet another image has popped up. But this time it was Tweeted by director Jeff Wadlow himself. Geez, I wouldn’t want to go head to head with this woman.

KICK-ASS 2 hits theaters June 28, 2013!

Producton is underway on both Marvel Studios Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, we should expect an Iron Man 3 trailer very soon and we’ve begun to see the return of Chris Hemsworth as the Asgardian god via set photos.  So, what’s next on Marvels schedule? Well, none other than the return of Steve Rogers in the definitely highly anticipated Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Chris Evans recently revealed to Collider when the film would begin shooting:

That gives this film around a 13-month production timeline which is the same amount of time that Captain America: The First Avenger had and should definitely not give the directing team of the Russo Brothers any trouble hitting that April 4th released date. We should also definitely expect to see some footage at next year’s San Diego Comic Con so better get ready for Hall H early. If you’re like me…”phase two” definitely can’t come fast enough.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that talent agent and manager to actors such as Gary Oldman, Douglas Urbanski has joined the cast of MGM’s RoboCop. But this isn’t Urbanski’s first time acting. You also may remember him from The Social Network where he played ‘Larry Summers’, the president of Harvard. Apparently he was offered the role of the mayor of Detroit directly from the director Jose Padhila.

“I think every agent, every manager should do this to see what the other side is like. This way, they will never think a client is crazy when they get a call from the set with crazy demands.”

Urbanski will be joining Joel Kinnaman, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish and Michael Keaton in the upcoming remake. RoboCop is set to hit theaters August 9th, 2013.

Variety is reporting that Sonar Entertainment will be partnering with Farah Films to produce a television show based on Terry Brooks Shannara saga, the series of novels has been running for the past 25 years and even includes one graphic novel, The Dark Wraith Of Shannara, published back in 2008.

The first season of the Shannara TV show will be based on the second-released book, The Elfstones of Shannara. The series takes place hundreds of years in the future set after the destruction of our civilization in the “great wars”, with the world reverting to a medieval state and magic re-emerging, while mystical creatures such as elves and trolls populate the Earth.

Most of the main characters in Brooks novels are members of the Shannara clan, a noble lineage with mixed heritage of man and Elf that allows them to wield magic. The story Many of the protagonists in the series are descended from the Eleven noble family of Shannara.

Brooks stated:

“Partnering with Sonar Entertainment and Farah Films on adapting the ‘Shannara’ saga for television is an exciting prospect. Everything about both companies suggests the result will be one that both old and new fans of the books will readily embrace. I am committed to doing everything I can to help make this happen.”

A few days ago word broke out that Marvel may just be introducing their resident sorcerer surpreme in Thor: The Dark World. And now there’s a rumor that Viggo Mortensen may be up for the role. A Twitter user by the name of Roger Wardell, who previously leaked out information on Captain America: The Winter Soldier such as the appearance of The Falcon prior to them being announced, tweeted the following:

Inside News: There’s something “Strange” about Thor: The Dark World

Inside News: Marvel is negotiations with Viggo Mortensen for an unspecified role in one of their Phase 2 films

But then he tweeted this one right here that made me think otherwise about the Dr. Strange rumor:

Inside News: Every villain answers to somebody, even the Winter Soldier. Who better to answer to than a Baron?

It’s been speculated for quite some time that Baron Zemo would appear in the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger. While many are speculating that he could be up for the Dr. Strange role I am leaning towards Zemo myself. Could Marvel be setting up the Masters Of Evil? Right now this is just speculation and I would hold off on getting too excited until anything is officially announced. But, then again it could pan out to be true.  Which role would you rather see him play?

The current Divided We Fall storyline will see the Ultimate Universe debut of the Iron Patriot in Ultimate Comics Ultimates #19 this December. Earlier today Newsarama revealed the cover by Adi Granov . However, there is no word on just who is actually in the armor. Many are speculating that it just may be Captain America himself. Who do you think is suiting up later this year?

Recently KICK-ASS 2 director Jeff Wadlow has been tweeting some teaser images but never really revealing who will be playing Mother Russia in next year’s film. Well, it appears that a rumor about who will be playing the character has turned out to be true. Bleeding Cool has done some researching and found an excerpt from IronWorld.ru the reveals that Olga Kurkulina has indeed been cast in the coveted role of Mother Russia, the key villainess of Kick-Ass 2.

I competed against other candidates from America, Switzerland and Holland. I spent three weeks in the casting, which took place at Pinewood studios. At the end, the director told me that I was getting a role. This was a difficult time psychologically and physically.

Mny people worked hard and from the heart to help me. On August 30th we fly to Toronto for a month’s shooting on location, and then we go back to London where stunts will be filmed at a local studio.

Now I’m train hard, learning new movements for attack and defense working with professionals on my acting and speech training.

So, are you guys ready for the epic final battle in KICK-ASS 2?! I know I am. I just hope they stay true to the ending of the comics this time around.

UPDATE: Thanks to the guys over at Bleeding Cool we also now have a set photo revealing a first look at Olga Kurkulina as Mother Russia. It’s definitely a bit different than the one in the comics but then again so were the costumes in the last movie.

Marvel Studios is taking a major risk with one of their “phase two” movies set for 2014 with the less known property Guardians Of The Galaxy. The upcoming “space epic” is planned to introduce audiences to a much larger Marvel Universe. With Guardians Of The Galaxy set to to lead directly into the sequel to The Avengers, one could only assume that Joss Whedon knows what is going on with that movie. Oh, and let’s not forget that Marvel Studios tapped James Gunn, a friend of Whedon’s, to direct the 2014 film. While speaking with MTV News about his take on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, Whedon  shared with MTV News what he thinks about Gunn’s direction so far.

“James is what makes me think it will work. I myself was sort of like, ‘Well, I liked Rocket Raccoon as a kid, but I’m not sure how that plays [to a wider audience].’ And then they said, ‘Well, we’re thinking about using James Gunn.’ And I said, ‘Oh, then no, you’re fine.’ He is so off the wall, and so crazy, but so smart, such a craftsman and he builds from his heart. He loves the raccoon. Needs the raccoon. This is the guy who wrote ‘The Specials.’ People don’t understand how influential that movie was about heroes, about taking heroes and making them mundane. And [he directed] ‘Super.’ Gunn has barely started, but already has a very twisted take on it, but it all comes from a real love for the material. It’s going to be hard for the humans to keep up,” said Whedon. “I know he’s going to come from left field and I’m going to go, ‘What?’ And then, ‘Of course, why didn’t I think of that?’ And then I’m going to beat him!”

Well, it appears there is more than meets the eye when it comes to The Wolverine. James Mangold’s film is said to be a standalone film taking Logan to Japan and including some well known characters in the X-universe, but this film just may not be as standalone as they’re saying it is. The Geek Files has come across an interesting set photo that seems to reveal that The Jean Grey School For Higher Learning will be featured at some point in the film.

Now, this could just could be a cool little easter egg for the fans of course. But it could also be something even bigger. Maybe Fox plans on connecting this movie into their next X-film X-Men: Days Of Future Past via a post credit scene? It’s a definite possibility that we’re probably going to have to wait until next summer to find out about. Well, that is unless someone leaks it online of course.
