Briefly: Following the film’s first trailer released earlier this week, Summit Entertainment has debuted the first featurette for the highly anticipated Divergent.

The video features plenty of quips and quotes from the film’s cast and crew, and even spotlights Divergent author Veronica Roth explaining just what the book is about.

Are you looking forward to the film? Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know what you think! Want to know how things stack up to the novel? Check out our comparison!

Based on Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times best-selling novel, DIVERGENT is a gripping action thriller set in a futuristic world where society has been divided into five factions. As each person approaches adulthood, he or she must choose a faction and commit to it for the rest of their life. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) chooses Dauntless—the daring risk-takers who pursue bravery above all else. During the Dauntless initiation, Tris completes death-defying stunts and faces her inmost fears in spectacular simulations. When she discovers she is a Divergent, someone who will never be able to fit into just one faction, she is warned that she must conceal this secret or risk her life. As Tris uncovers a looming war which threatens her family and the life of the mysterious Dauntless leader whom she has come to love, Tris must face her greatest test yet—deciding whether revealing she is a Divergent will save her world—or destroy it.

Briefly: This is simply too amazing not to share.

This hilarious video appeared last night on Reddit after Patrick Stewart’s girlfriend, Sunny Ozell, uploaded it to her YouTube channel. The short video showcases the always-wonderful Stewart taking us through a single, double, triple, and quadruple (which actually turns out to be a quintuple) take.

It’s an incredible feat for sure, and I don’t want to spoil it for you further, so take a look at the Quadruple Take Masterclass below, and let us know what you think!

Briefly: We’re now just over a month away from the anticipated release of Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie remake, and MGM has just debuted a second theatrical trailer for the film.

This trailer looks to go deeper into Carrie’s relationship with her mother, just how much she gets tormented in school, as well as a little more of what happens on the fateful night when she decides that she’s had enough. The preview could even be considered spoiler territory… if Carrie hadn’t originally released nearly fourty years ago.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and let us know what you think! Carrie hits theatres on October 18th!

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

Briefly: The CW has just revealed the first poster for the anticipated second season of Arrow.

The poster is pretty standard faire, featuring a somber (or bored) looking, shirt-clad Amell (what’s up with that?), and the show’s supporting cast in the background.

All jokes aside, I’m really looking forward to Arrow‘s second season. More DC characters are set to debut during its duration, including Black Canary and, of course, The Flash! Take a look at the poster below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to Arrow. Season two premieres on October 9th!

Briefly: I’m already a huge fan of Marvel’s Unlimited service, and for US residents things just got even better.

Marvel today announced a new tier in their popular (and pretty fantastic) Unlimited service called Marvel Unlimited Plus. The new tier gets you all of the benefits of the standard Unlimited subscription(full access to over 13,000 digital comics on your computer and mobile devices), plus a myriad of other benefits.

Plus rings in at $99 per year instead of Unlimited’s standard $69, but it sounds like the added cost is well worth it. Here’s what a Marvel Unlimited Plus subscription will get you:

-Marvel Unlimited Age of Ultron Collectable Kit containing a limited edition Hasbro Marvel Legends 6″ AU Variant Ultron figure – not available anywhere else, an exclusive variant edition Age of Ultron #10 comic with cover art by Salvador Larroca, plus your very own, personalized Plus member card, welcome letter, and custom collectible comic box (great for all those digital comics).

-Invitations to special Plus members-only events at New York Comic Con and more! Events may include creator meet-and-greets, signings and one-of-a-kind merchandise

-Early access to the freshest Marvel announcements – take advantage of the never-before-offered opportunity to get the latest from Marvel as it goes to news outlets!

-15% off digital comics and collections at the Marvel Digital Comics Shop**

-10% off Marvel merchandise every day at the MarvelStore.com

-Even more surprises throughout the year!

Sounds like a pretty great deal to me. Sadly, being Canadian, I’m only eligible for the standard Unlimited service (which I use frequently, the iPad being my preferred reading device).

Are you already an Unlimited subscriber? Will you be upgrading your membership? If you haven’t yet subscribed, what’s stopping you? Sound out below!

Briefly: With the 10th anniversary of The Walking Dead and All Out War beginning this October, Image has just revealed that The Walking Dead #115 will feature 10 connecting covers.

Every weekday for the next two weeks, a new cover will be revealed. Each piece will feature a very important moment from the history of The Walking Dead. Take a look at the first cover below (from the comic’s third year), and let us know if you’re planning to pick up all 10! The Walking Dead #115 hits stores on October 9th!

Briefly: We’re just over a month away from the return of television’s biggest series, The Walking Deadand AMC today debuted the first clip from the upcoming season.

From the clip, it looks as though the prison folks are doing pretty well for themselves. They’ve built a much better door system than the old fences would have had, plus it looks like there’s a pretty solid barrier around the prison (or at least this area). Could Michonne be hurt, however? Why does she spend so much time trying to keep the walkers at bay, instead of simply slicing their heads off?

Take a look at the clip below (clip begins at 36 seconds), and let us know what you think! Season four of The Walking Dead premieres on October 13th!

Briefly: We all knew that it was coming, but the day that we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. Microsoft Points are DEAD!

An Xbox 360 software update was pushed today that officially removed all traces of the antiquated points system from the console.  Now, instead of points, users will see real dollar prices, and any current points will be converted to their local currency. Converted points can be used tax-free, though any new purchases will be taxed at the user’s local taxation rate.

This precedes the Xbox One launch this holiday season, which will use standard currency, and not points, from launch day.

Are you happy about the change? Or angry that it didn’t happen years ago? Sound out below!

Briefly: Following the new stills from just a few days back, Marvel today debuted two new character posters for November’s Thor: The Dark World.

One image features Thor doing what he does best (looking sexy with Mjölnir… duh), while the other showcases a very sly looking Loki (what is he up to).

As I’ve said before, I’m beyond excited for Thor: The Dark World. The film looks to drop the overused humour from the first Thor, and instead appears to take on a much more serious tone. A tone that’s very fitting for a post-Avengers world, and a tone that the overly-silly Iron Man 3 should have had. Take a look at the new posters below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the film. Thor: The Dark World hits theatres on November 8th!

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Briefly: FX today released a fourth extremely brief, extremely creepy teaser for the upcoming American Horror Story: Coven.

The video clocks in at just 21 seconds, so I won’t give away anything that the teaser reveals. It likely has almost nothing to do with what the season will actually offer (as with Asylum‘s teasers), but I’m damned excited to see more.

Briefly: I just realized that I haven’t picked up Pikmin 3 yet. What the hell is wrong with me!?

Nintendo today released a new trailer focussing entirely on Wii U exclusive games. This, of course, comes at a time when the system’s sales are abysmally low, consoles are continually on sale at different outlets, and my local Wal Mart’s Wii U section seems to be shrinking and shrinking.

The Wii U has had a rough start so far, but if this trailer is any indication, things are about to change. Throughout the rest of 2013, and well into 2014, the console has an absolute ton of great looking exclusives coming out. A poor launch doesn’t mean a poor future (as the PS3 has demonstrated wonderfully).

Take a look at the trailer below, and tell me that these games won’t sell an insane amount of units.

Briefly: Here it is, folks. Following the neat infographic from earlier today, and the short teaser from earlier this week, Summit Entertainment has just debuted the first trailer for Divergent.

It actually looks pretty cool. I haven’t read as much as a synopsis for the book, but based on this trailer, Divergent looks to have what it takes to be the next young adult mega hit.

Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Divergent hits theatres on March 21st, 2014!

Briefly: Following the tiny teaser released earlier this week, and preceding the first full trailer set to launch at tonight’s VMA’s, Summit Entertainment has released a cool new infographic for the highly anticipated Divergent.

The graphic shows the 5 different factions from the world of Divergent, and what each faction stands for. Not the most revealing image, but should be a nice refresher for fans of the book, and a nice introduction to those new to the world!

Take a look at the graphic below (click for larger), and watch for the film’s first trailer later tonight!

DIVERGENT is a thrilling adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.

All the way back in April of 2012, a small Californian tech company launched an ambitious Kickstarter for a sleek, sexy, and simple smartwatch called the Pebble. 37 days, and over $10,000,000 later, almost everyone was talking about Pebble Technology.

The campaign launched with a modest goal of just $100,000, and I doubt that there’s a soul on this planet that thought the Pebble could earn 100x that. On May 18th, 2012, the Pebble Kickstarter closed with a $10,266,845 backing from 68,929 backers. Nothing short of incredible. In fact, the Pebble remains the highest earning Kickstarter project to date (only the unsuccessful Ubuntu Edge Indiegogo campaign has been able to surpass it).

I’ve been swooning over the Pebble since it was first announced. The idea of having an always-connected timepiece on my then-naked wrist sounded like a future that I needed to be a part of. On January 23, 2013, the first watches began to ship to backers, and last week I finally got my hands on one.

Unfamiliar with the watch? Take a look at Pebble’s Kickstarter video below, and keep on reading for my thoughts on the device.

Yep. As you can see in the video above, the Pebble is essentially a pretty (or nerdy, depending on who you’re talking to) watch that connects to your Android or iOS phone via Bluetooth, and accepts notifications from said device. If you get a text message, iMessage, phone call, Skype alert, Facebook message, or anything else that would cause your phone to buzz and beep, instead of pulling the device out of your pocket, you can simply look at your wrist.

It sounds trivial, but for me, it’s a huge time saver. I get tons (and tons) of emails and messages daily, and the vast majority of them don’t need to be dealt with immediately. Also, I’m often in areas where it would be beyond impolite to pull out a phone, but I could momentarily glance at my watch without anyone giving me a second look (also, isn’t it just simpler to look at your wrist instead of fishing for your phone). Admit it, when your phone buzzes in your pocket, be it at work, a family dinner, on a date, or anything of the sort, all that you want to do is look at it. Maybe it’s important? Maybe someone needs me? Maybe someone is hurt? 99% of the time, it’ll be a Candy Crush notification or some other garbage, but you simply cannot be completely invested in what you were previously doing until you figure it out. The Pebble has essentially solved all of these worries for me, and many more.

Here’s another scenario. I love to shower. In my life, it tends to be the only few moments that I get to myself each day. I also like to listen to music while I’m showering (and who doesn’t). Think about this: the average length of a standard song is about four minutes. That means you’re listening to about three songs per shower. You throw your phone on shuffle and start washing, so what happens when the second song comes on, and it’s one that you really don’t want to hear? Well, you don’t enjoy that 1/3 of your shower, simple as that. This wouldn’t be the case with the Pebble. It’s waterproof (5ATM rated), so take it in with you. When that song that you don’t want to hear inevitably comes on, just skip it, and go on with your day (much more relaxed, of course, since you enjoyed your entire shower).

They’re all little things, but isn’t it the little things that really matter?

You can even use it as a running clock. Pretty cool, huh?
You can even use it as a running clock. Pretty cool, huh?

As for the device itself, I think that it looks pretty phenomenal. I went with the Black unit, but the watch also comes in Arctic White, Cherry Red, Orange, and Grey, all of which are set to have a huge following I’m sure. For all that the Pebble can do, it still manages to retain a simple and uncomplicated design. The left side of the unit hosts just one button (Back/Backlight), while the right side has three (Up, Down, Select), and that’s it. No weird gestures or touch screens that’ll make you look much sillier than you already do (sorry Hot Watch). That being said, due to the waterproof nature of the device, the buttons tend to feel rather floaty and cheap (due to the gaskets inside protecting the watch’s sensitive innards from the elements). The Pebble comes with a just-okay rubber strap, but it can be replaced with any 22mm band that you desire (I’ve got a nice leather one coming in the mail). In the week that I’ve had the watch, I’ve received plenty of compliments that my naked wrist never would have.

Perhaps the Pebble’s greatest feat is just how adaptable it’s set to become. The device is marketed as being fully customizable and offers an open SDK so that anyone can develop and release different apps and watchfaces for the product. Being that the Pebble is still in its infancy, I haven’t yet seen many faces or apps that really interest me (aside from the neat 7-Minute Workout app), but there are a variety of cool looking faces available on sites like MyPebbleFaces (I chose to stick with the standard text face for now), and more are being added seemingly by the minute.

I really like the text face.
I really like the text face.

If you’re thinking about picking up a Pebble (either by pre-ordering and waiting likely a long time, heading to eBay and paying top-dollar, or going to Best Buy in the US and hoping you’re lucky), there are certainly a few things you should know before pulling the trigger. First, if you’re an iOS user, at this point the experience is admittedly limited. Things like iMessage/SMS messages, calls, and emails will come through just fine, but until iOS 7 releases to the public (which should be coming up very soon, and features much improved support for Bluetooth devices such as the Pebble), that’s all you’re going to get. Also, and this is coming from someone who hates cases, screen protectors, and anything that even remotely resembles them: you’re going to need a screen protector. I used my Pebble for one day while I waited for my protector to arrive. I babied the thing beyond belief, and at the end of the day, noticeable only at very specific angles under very bright light, there were some tiny scratches. This bugged the hell out of me. If this was a single day, I can’t imagine what it would have looked like six months down the road. I went with the fine folks at GadgetWraps, who gave me excellent customer service, offered a very affordable product, and even offer a lifetime guarantee on their wraps.

Really, I’ve spent just a short time with the Pebble watch, and I already see it as an indispensable part of my daily life. It isn’t perfect, but it’s a device that’s set to vastly improve as more and more people are able to attain one. The Pebble is a device that makes my life easier and manages to look quite sleek while doing it. As far as smartwatches go, the Pebble is easily the best on the market at this point, let’s just hope they can continue to evolve as Apple and Google develop their offerings.

The Pebble scores a cool 4/5.

Briefly: With just a few days to go until the next issue of Empire hits newsstands, 16 new stills from the Thor: The Dark World have debuted on the magazine’s official website.

Thor: The Dark World producer Craig Kyle explains the film further, stating “When the Bifrost was broken at the end of the first film, Odin had to conjure a lot of dark energy and go through a lot of personal sacrifice to try and get his son back to Earth. And it was a one-shot deal. If Thor didn’t succeed, without the Tesseract he couldn’t have got back again. And in our film, finally the Bifrost has been rebuilt, but during that time, when the cops were largely cut off from the rest of the universe, you had miscreants that came in from outside the Nine Realms, pillaging and destroying and causing havoc. So that’s what our guys have been doing now – trying to put all these fires out across the Nine Realms.”

As I’ve said before, I’m beyond excited for Thor: The Dark World. The film looks to drop the overused humour from the first Thor, and instead appears to take on a much more serious tone. Briefly: I didn’t expect to be reading this news today.

Warner Bros. has just announced who will play Batman in the currently-untitled Man of Steel sequel… and it’s Ben Affleck.

This, of course, won’t be his first time playing a comic book character, as he starred in 2003’s critical failure DaredevilI’m sure that a worldwide outcry is about to occur, and there will be anti-Affleck petitions by morning… but I’m actually really intrigued. Affleck is an incredible director, and I think that he has some fantastic acting chops. I’m excited to see what he can do! Plus, remember that “A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy’s shoulders to let him know that the world hadn’t ended.” Or even Ben Affleck.

The film will begin production in 2014, and will hit theatres on July 17th, 2015. Take a look at the full press release below, and let us know what you think of the news!

BURBANK, CA, August 22, 2013 – Ending weeks of speculation, Ben Affleck has been set to star as Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne. Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled project—bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in “Man of Steel.” The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The studio has slated the film to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.

Last month’s surprise announcement of the new movie featuring both Superman and Batman created a wave of excitement and immediately fueled discussion and debate—among fans as well as in the media—about who would put on the cape and cowl of Bruce Wayne’s alter ego.

Snyder successfully re-imagined the origin of Clark Kent/Superman in the worldwide blockbuster “Man of Steel,” which has earned more than $650 million worldwide to date, and climbing. The director will now create an original vision of Batman and his world for the film that brings the two DC Comics icons together.
Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will reprise the role of Superman/Clark Kent. The film will also reunite “Man of Steel” stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

In the announcement, Silverman stated, “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”

Snyder also expressed his excitement about the casting of Affleck, noting, “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”

Kroll added, “We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros.’ remarkable legacy with the character of Batman. He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes.”

Affleck recently starred in the Academy Award®-winning Best Picture “Argo,” which he also directed and produced, earning acclaim and a BAFTA Award nomination for his performance in the film, as well as a number of directing honors. In 2010, he starred in and directed the hit crime thriller “The Town.” His recent acting work also includes “The Company Men,” “State of Play,” and “Hollywoodland,” for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. Earlier in his career, Affleck starred in and co-wrote (with Matt Damon) “Good Will Hunting,” for which he won an Oscar® for Best Original Screenplay.

The new Super Hero film is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan and Wesley Coller serving as executive producers.

Production is expected to begin in 2014.

The film is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, and Batman characters created by Bob Kane, published by DC Entertainment.

Briefly: Summit Entertainment has finally released the first teaser for Neil Burger’s highly anticipated Divergent… kind of.

The entire tease clocks in at a less-than-brief 13 seconds, but does actually reveal some pretty cool scenes. We also get our very first (and of course, very short) look at Kate Winslet’s portrayal of Jeanine Matthews in the film.

Take a look at the teaser below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the film! Divergent is set in a post-apocalyptic Chicago, and features an absolutely star-studded cast: Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson, and plenty of others are featured in starring roles.

Briefly: Late last night, Latino-Review posted an interesting rumour that Marvel and director James Gunn are in talks with Bradley Cooper to voice Rocket Raccoon in Gunn’s highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy.

THR has just confirmed the rumour with their own sources, stating that Marvel has indeed entered early talks with Bradley Cooper for the role. They also note that last week’s rumour of Elizabeth Olsen being up for Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron is also true.

Guardians of the Galaxy is really shaping up nicely. Composer Tyler Bates was confirmed for the project just yesterday, Vin Diesel is currently in talks for Groot, and Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Lee Pace, Benicio Del Toro, John C. Reilly, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Glenn Close, Djimon Hounsou, and plenty of others have already joined the project!

Both of these stars would make pretty phenomenal additions to there respective films, don’t you think? Sound out below, and be sure to let us know your thoughts on the cast so far!

Briefly: It looks as though another James Gunn regular has joined Guardians of the Galaxy.

Gunn has revealed that composer Tyler Bates will provide the score for the film. This marks the third time that the pair has worked together, as Bates also scored Gunn’s Slither and Super.

Here’s Gunn’s announcement, straight from his official Facebook page:

Grateful to be working with my favorite composer, Tyler Bates, on Guardians of the Galaxy. Unlike most films, Tyler writes huge chunks of the score first so that I can actually film to the music. During action scenes and huge dramatic moments we blare the score on set so that the cast, crew, and camera can move in harmony with the music. Music is often an afterthought in film, but never for us. And everything Tyler’s done so far has been amazing!

What do you think of the news? Are you a fan of Bates’ previous work?

The entire team at Kill Bosby is absolutely hilarious, and they need your help!

Earlier this year, the sketch comedy group produced a wonderful six episode webseries called Watch Immediately (watch in full here… immediately). The team received an incredible amount of amazing support, comments, and followers, while two main criticisms arose again and again: the show’s sub-par sound and lighting.

Kill Bosby is hard at work writing a second six episode season of Watch ImmediatelyThe first season was funded entirely out of the team’s own pockets, and they’re looking for some help before production of season two begins.

A Kickstarter campaign for Watch Immediately is well underway, and is currently at $3707 of its modest $6000 goal. With 15 days in the campaign remaining, Watch Immediately is making some great progress, and will likely see its goal met and exceeded! All money raised will go towards procuring the much needed sound and lighting equipment, ensuring that season two of Watch Immediately releases with stellar production values.

Take a look at the Watch Immediately Kickstarter video below, and if you like what you see, why not throw them a few bucks? There are plenty of great backer rewards up for grabs, including t-shirts, exclusive podcasts, producer credits, and even a live comedy show in your living room!

Briefly: This is going to be incredible.

Sure, we’ve already seen plenty of videos and screenshots of Traveller’s Tales wonderful looking Lego Marvel Super Heroes. The developer has just debuted a story trailer for the game, and surprisingly, it’s even more exciting than anything we’ve seen thus far.

Seriously, this game looks awesome. All of the previous Lego titles have been an absolute blast, but throw Traveller’s Tales tried-and-true style, humour, and gameplay into a title that spans the entire Marvel universe, and we could have the very best Lego game yet.

Watch the story trailer for Lego Marvel Super Heroes below, and let us know what you think! The game is set to release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS, Vita, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this fall!

Briefly: I certainly wasn’t expecting to read this today.

Entertainment One and Nu Image have joined forces to produce a Rambo television series.

Details on the project are still (very) scarce, but franchise star Sylvester Stallone is in talks to join the project at a creative level… and possibly even reprise his role.

Take a look at the full announcement below, and let us know if this is a show you’d watch! Is there any way to capture the spirit of Rambo, without it being unbelievable violent? Won’t a series have to tone things down a lot?

Entertainment One (eOne) announced today that it has firmed up a co-development pact with Avi Lerner (Rambo, The Expendables) and Nu Image to develop and produce a television series based on Rambo.

Under their exclusive option arrangement, the partners will collectively develop the series and shop it to broadcasters in the US and internationally. The parties are currently in negotiations with Sylvester Stallone to be involved with the project on a creative level as well as potentially reprise his iconic role as the original Rambo.

Rambo is a cult classic series of movies and an epic feature film character starring Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo. Based on the David Morell novel “First Blood,” the film is about a troubled Vietnam War veteran and former Green Beret who is skilled in many aspects of survival, weaponry, hand to hand combat and guerrilla warfare. The series consists of the films First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III and Rambo.

“We’re thrilled to join forces with a renowned producer like Avi and the Nu Image team. The ability to fuse the big screen and the small screen through Avi’s feature film expertise and eOne’s domestic production capabilities and international distribution infrastructure, makes for a highly complementary partnership,” said John Morayniss, CEO, eOne Television. “Rambo fans cover all demographics and we’re confident that we’ll quickly find this series a home.”

“I’m happy to be partnering with a prolific company like Entertainment One who has a track record of creating high quality programming for their broadcast partners around the world,” commented Lerner. “And I’m excited by the prospect of collaborating again with my good friend Sly for an encore in this next phase of the Rambo legacy.”

The television series will be produced by eOne in association with Lerner and Nu Image. Executive producers will include John Morayniss for eOne and Lerner for Nu Image, with eOne handling the worldwide rights to the series in all media.

Briefly: Spike Lee’s anticipated remake of Park Chan-wook’s Oldboy, is now just a few months away from theatres, and FilmDistrict today debuted a new batch of screenshots from the anticipated film.

The new screens feature an angry looking, shaved Brolin (complete with bloody hammer in one shot), an angry looking, bearded Brolin, Samuel Jackson, as well as a few shots of Elizabeth Olsen.

Take a look at the stills below, and let us know what you think! I’ve yet to see the original Oldboy, so with only a few months to go until release, I better get on it! Oldboy hits theatres on November 27th!

OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.

Briefly: Well this was unexpected.

Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs is currently one of the most anticipated titles of 2013, and is certainly one of the most promising next-generation launch games (I know I’ll be picking up a copy with my PS4). Today at Gamescom, Ubisoft announced that it’s collaborating with Sony Pictures and Regency Entertainment on a film adaptation of the highly anticipated game.

It seems like both Ubisoft and Sony are confident that Watch Dogs is going to be huge… like Assassin’s Creed huge.

Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer of Ubisoft Motion Pictures says that “Sony Pictures and New Regency are ideal partners for us. Their deep production expertise and willingness to allow us to maintain a strong creative voice in the film means that we’re on track to deliver a movie that can build upon the excitement that Watch Dogs already is generating as a game.”

No further information about the film was revealed. I’m beyond excited to pick up the game, so you can be sure that we’ll update you on the adaptation as we learn more.

Does it seem crazy to anyone else that they’ve already announced a film adaptation, months before the franchise’s first game?

Briefly: Just yesterday, we saw some new Batman: Arkham Origins screenshots that gave us a great look at the game’s Batcave (among other things). Today, Warner Bros. Interactive debuted a new trailer, filled with never-before-seen footage for the anticipated title.

The trailer does a great job of garnering even more excitement for the game, and also reveals one of Black Mask’s assassins, Firefly. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the game! Batman: Arkham Origins hits PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U (sans multiplayer) on October 25th!

Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline occurring several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous villains and assassins, the game showcases a young, raw, unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, witness identities being formed and key relationships being forged.

Briefly: It’s not the big news that Sony announced at today’s Gamescom conference, but it’s definitely still worth noting.

Sony has officially dropped the price of its struggling flagship handheld, the Playstation Vita. Effective immediately, the console’s new price will be a cool $200 / €200.

Sony also revealed that a price drop on Vita memory cards is forthcoming.

Is the drop enough to make you consider the console? What do you think is in store for its future? I still believe that the system lacks a ‘must have’ title, and am afraid of what may happen once the PS4 launches. Will the Vita simply become a PS4 streaming device?

Vita owner? When’s the last time that you picked your console up? Can you recommend me some games?
