Less than two weeks after Aquaman’s announcement, Warner Bros. Interactive has revealed Sinestro as the latest character to join the ranks of Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The character’s moves and abilities are still unknown, but that should all change on Friday when Injustice’s next Battle Arena video is released.

What do you think of this addition? Who are you most excited to play as? Will you be picking up Injustice: Gods Among Us when it hits shelves on April 16th?

The game is looking pretty rad… but so did Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe, and we all know how that turned out.

Did you know that Mondo has an art gallery in Austin, TX?

The gallery’s next event is just around the corner, and sounds absolutely amazing; Mondo has partnered with HBO for the event, which will be all about Game of Thrones. If you’re a Game of Thrones fan and either live near Austin or are heading to SXSW this year, you really need to check this out. The event will run from March 8th – March 12th.

Check out all the info in the press release below, and let us know if you’ll be attending! I’d love to check this out, but alas, I’m stuck up in Canada.

Mondo, the collectible art division of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, is partnering with HBO’s “Game of Thrones” for a poster series and gallery event running March 8 – March 12, 2013.  The gallery will be open to the public on March 8 from 7:00 – 10:00pm with regular hours to follow for the show’s duration.  The Mondo Gallery is located at 4115 Guadalupe St. in Austin, TX.

Last year, Mondo and HBO’s “Game of Thrones” collaboration at San Diego Comic-Con was a huge success and this series takes that partnership to the next level with a wide range of spectacular original works and poster art from dozens of Mondo’s world renowned artists including Craig Drake, Daniel Danger, Jason Edmiston, Horkey, Jock, Phantom City Creative, JC Richard, and Ken Taylor. This special gallery event will also launch a Mondo poster series for the acclaimed HBO series, with 8 limited edition screen prints that will be available for purchase.  The exhibit will feature the first two posters in the series along with original fine art. Following the gallery exhibit, two posters will be released digitally each week leading up to the “Game of Thrones” Season 3 premiere on March 31, 2013.

“GAME OF THRONES is a favorite of ours at Mondo.  The gallery event is intended to honor the show’s attention to visual detail and the beautiful world that George R.R. Martin has imagined and series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have brought to life. After the success of our San Diego Comic-Con initiative with HBO in 2012, we thought this was a perfect fit.  We hope the fans feel our work has done justice to the show,” says Mondo CEO Justin Ishmael.

The gallery event will also see the premiere of Brewery Ommegang’s new “Game of Thrones” beer where attendees, 21 and older, will be the first to taste the new beer.  Launching in tandem with the season three debut on March 31, Iron Throne, a Blonde Ale, is the inaugural beer in the series and the result of a creative partnership between Ommegang and HBO.  The collaboration is focused on developing unique beers that tie into themes and nuances of the medieval-like fantasy realm of Westeros. Iron Throne is a delicate, but piercing Golden Blonde Ale with Noble hops, a nod to having a Lannister currently on the Throne.  The beer will be nationally available on draft and in 750ml bottles, for the suggested retail price of $8.50 per bottle, beginning in mid to late March and will be followed by the launch of additional beers.

This Carrie remake looks like a bloody mess… pun intended.

Unfunny jokes aside, the upcoming remake of the 1976 adaptation of the 1974 novel by Stephen King is looking pretty stellar. This week’s edition of Empire Magazine features a new still from the film; though similar to previously released images, it still manages to be affective and disturbing. Chloe Moretz looks to be a great fit for the part, and I can’t wait to see the finished feature.

Check out the new image below, and let us know what you think! Carrie hits theatres on October 18th.

Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. FilmDistrict has just released a batch of new stills from the anticipated remake of Evil Dead. They’re a mixture of behind-the-scenes and production images, and certainly give a cool, fresh look at the upcoming film.

Check out the images below, and let us know what you think! Evil Dead hits theatres on April 5th!

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to the remake? You have seen the unbelievably gory red band trailer right?

Welcome to Walking Dead Weekly! As the title implies, each week (bearing a new episode of course), we’ll be taking a look at the latest episode of the AMC series. I’ll let you know how I felt about each weekly offering, and will also compare it to what Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard were doing with the comic at the same time.

Last week started with crazy ol’ Rick Grimes following an apparition of Lori around the prison (and its surrounding area). The Governor gave Andrea the (seemingly unwanted) task of ‘acting mayor’ before taking off to who knows where (well… we do). After leaving our group in the previous episode, Merle and Daryl came across more survivors in need of help, who Merle then attempted to rob. Daryl put a stop to it, and an intense argument between the brothers ensued. In the last quarter of the episode, the peaceful prison became a war zone as the Governor launched an attack on the block; Axel was the group’s only casualty, and a terrified Carol had to use his bullet-ridden body for cover. The episode closed with our survivors again on the outside of the prison, as the the Governor’s attack also filled the yard with walkers.

It was an exciting end for sure, but what happened next? Read on and find out! As always, there are plenty of spoilers below!

Episode Thoughts – ‘I Ain’t A Judas’

If Andrea died back on the farm, I feel as though things would be going a lot smoother for our group. Anyone else feel the same way?

I guess the walkers in the yard weren’t too much of a challenge for Rick and the gang; after last week’s Home closed with our group on the outside of the prison, tonight’s I Ain’t A Judas opens with them back inside the cell block. We enter the episode mid-argument; The Governor knows exactly where they are and he’s already attacked, do they stay and wait for another raid, or get the hell out while they still have a chance? Rick says that the group stays, and before walking out (assumingly making his word final), Hershel pipes up with “you once said that this isn’t a democracy. Now you have to own up to that.”  This really seems to resonate with our leader, who typically (especially lately) seems to live in a world of his own. Rick heads outside, and before the opening credits roll, Carl shares his thoughts; Rick’s own son thinks that he should resign from leading the group.

Hershel tells Rick what's up.
Hershel tells Rick what’s up.

Back in Woodbury, Governor Phillip has seen just what he’s up against, and want to build an offensive army to take Rick out for good. Milton has gathered a list of able-bodied folks present in the town (meaning practically anyone who can hold a gun). Even the kids don’t get a break; Governor tells an uncomfortable Milton that “adolescents are a 20th century invention”, and that both men and women over the age of 13 are also expected to fight. This puts the town’s offence at 35 mostly untrained conscripts… and we thought the Governor’s current soldiers were terrible shots!

Screen Shot 2013-02-24 at 9.57.20 PMAndrea shows up right on queue, and Governor convinces her that he only went to the prison to negotiate. It was those “bloodthirsty” hostiles that fired on them first. Governor does what he does best, and spins a tale of how training the town to fight is just necessary measure for defending themselves. Andrea expresses interest in going to the prison, believing that she can turn things around, but Phillip isn’t open to the idea, stating “if you go to that prison, stay there.”

The heat is back on between Carol and Daryll; it’s a fairly quick exchange, but you could cut the tension with a knife. I hypothesized a few weeks back that Daryl’s leaving may throw Carol over the edge (furthered again by Axel’s murder), but I’m starting to second guess myself. There just seems to be too much chemistry between these two for her to go and end herself. Daryl doesn’t seem too optimistic about the prison at this time, calling it a “tomb”; I’m guessing that he’s more right than he could ever know. If the rest of our time in the prison plays out anything like The Walking Dead‘s source material, we’ll be seeing a lot more blood shed at this penitentiary.

Are they together or not? GIVE US ANSWERS!
Are they together or not? GIVE US ANSWERS!

Back in Woodbury, Andrea asks Milton’s help in escaping to the prison… to which he refuses, tattles to the Governor who tells him to help her anyways, and then listens. In the meantime, the Governor removes his bandage (letting us see just what’s underneath) and puts on his trademark eyepatch, a much improved look if you ask me (though he’s still no JTRO), but you can decide for yourself:

Before...
Before…

and after!
and after!

During the escape we get a look at the disturbing (yet oddly satisfying) process of making one of Michonne’s patented walkers; no arms to grab you, no teeth to bite you. I can definitely see people cringing during this scene… mostly because I cringed during this scene. The episode has been alright so far, but here’s where things get really interesting; unexpectedly, Tyreese and his group show up, exchange words with Andrea and Milton, the latter then decides to bring them to Woodbury. Once inside they tell the Governor that they’ll do whatever it takes for the opportunity to stay there, including assisting with the attack on the prison; this could be very bad for Rick and the gang, and was certainly not something that I saw coming from Tyreese.

Cringeworthy?
Cringeworthy? Definitely.

Andrea arrives at the prison and does not see a very warm welcome. It seems that only Carol is generally happy to see her, as everyone else wonders just why she’s been bunking with the Governor. After a long exchange with the group, it’s made rather clear that Andrea isn’t welcome. She tries to reason with her old gang, but they’re already looking for blood. Before Andrea’s departure, Carol gives a pretty fresh idea: bring the Governor’s guard down, and then kill him, effectively ending this war before it begins. Andrea takes an old prison cruiser (instead of a shiny Hyundai), and takes a long, quiet drive back to Woodbury.

Then, at the episode’s closing, she infuriates all of us… again. Andrea proceeds to carry out the “sleep with him, then slit his throat” plan, but doesn’t make it to the second half of the scheme. She stands above a sleeping Governor, knife in hand, and then she walks away. SHE WALKS AWAY! The credits roll, and millions of viewers yell at their televisions all at once. If the Governor kills again, is it not indirectly Andrea’s fault?

NO
NO!

The episode had some very tense and intriguing moments, but I’m starting to feel as though things are starting to drag on a little. After last week’s unexpected and impressive finale, I thought the momentum would be kept at least through this episode; instead, as I Ain’t A Judas opened to our survivors arguing in the prison (which it seems like they do every episode), that momentum was lost almost immediately.

If the preview for next week’s episode is any indication, things may be about to change. Clear has Michonne, Rick, and Carl on the hunt for supplies, and it looks like they may just come across something else instead. Check out the preview for Season 3, Episode 12 – Clear below, and let us know what you thought of tonight’s offering!

Comic Comparison

Tyreese’s departure was the real shocker here. As I’ve mentioned before, the comic book introduced Tyreese in Issue 7, where he and his assembly were quickly welcomed into Rick’s group. Tyreese would go on to be an important and loyal part of the group until his eventual (shocking) death in Issue 46.

Tyreese Compare

Things are going a lot differently for him in the AMC series. Sure, he still has his trademark hammer (I’m guessing that, just like in the comic, he’s a terrible shot), but after Rick’s unorthodox breakdown in The Suicide King, where Rick’s anger and confusion was mistakenly thought to be directed at him and his group, Tyreese seems to have no allegiance to the prison folk in this episode. It appears as though the Governor will take him under his wing, and I’m guessing that Tyreese will lead Phillip right to the prison’s back entrance. Dang.

andrea

Andrea has also found herself on the opposite side of Woodbury’s fence in the AMC version. Robert Kirkman’s comic had her integral in fighting off The Governor’s attack, but in this version (at least for now), seeing as she didn’t stab him (possibly at the cost of her friend’s lives), she seems to slightly favour Woodbury and Phillip. Weird… that guy’s a dick.

Woodbury’s army seems to be shaping up quite differently as well in the television series. While the comic had Woodbury’s assault come from folks who seemed to know how to handle themselves, I found it quite interesting that the series is taking combatants from all walks of life; it doesn’t matter if you’re a child, a senior, deaf, or arthritic, you’re expected to pick up a gun and fight. Won’t this make the battle much easier for Rick and friends?

Even you asthma kid.
Even you asthma kid.

With just five more episodes to go this season, what do you think will happen next? Can the series end the prison arc with the same emotional impact that the comic did? Maybe Rick and friends will continue to stay through season four? Will Tyreese really end up on Governor’s side?

As always, thanks for reading, and we’ll see you next week!

It looks like the folks at Square Enix are nearly ready to rerelease Final Fantasy XIV. The game initially launched in September 2010 in an apparently unfinished state; the title was full of balancing issues, glitches, and gamebreaking bugs.

Square Enix saw something in that mess of a game however, and decided to keep working on it (after apologizing to everyone that paid for it of course). The game is inching closer and closer to its wide release, and the company has released a new trailer showcasing the exploration elements of the title. Check it out below, and let us know what you think!

Want to give it a try? PC and PS3 betas are both taking applications on the game’s official website.

Seeing as Riddick is just seven months away from release, it shouldn’t be long before we see some actual footage from the film.

Until then, the slew of still images from the project continue to roll in, the latest coming yesterday via Diesel’s Facebook page. Check the image out below, and let us know what you think! Riddick hits theatres on September 6th.

Riddick

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Getting hungry for Catching Fire? Just nine more months until you’ll finally get a chance to return to Panem.

In the meantime, Lionsgate today released the first official posters for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The first image features Peeta and Katniss in a propaganda style image of their ‘Victory Tour’ through Panem, while the second looks to be a very, very wide shot of that first image.

Take a look at the posters below, and let us know what you think! The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theatres on November 22nd.

vic-tour-001

vic-tour-2

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour’ of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Following today’s new poster (and trailer trailer), a full trailer for Game of Thrones season three premiered on tonight’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The preview gives us an amazing first look at the upcoming season, and I absolutely can’t wait to jump back into this world. Watch the trailer below, and let is know what you think! Game of Thrones returns to HBO on March 31st.

You’ll have to wait until later this evening to watch the full trailer for Game of Thrones season three, but HBO has released a cool twelve seconds to get you excited! The full trailer will premiere tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and we’ll have it up shortly afterwards!

A new poster has also been revealed for the upcoming season (via Entertainment Weekly). It isn’t the most exciting image, but does show one of our favourite television dragons just a little bit older than we last saw it.

Check out the image (and trailer for the trailer) below, and let us know what you think! Game of Thrones season three premieres on March 31st.

Earlier this morning Nintendo hosted a Japan-centric Nintendo Direct, showcasing titles that will be hitting the 3DS eShop later this year.

One of the most exciting announcements (for me anyways); both The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons are coming to the eShop. Word spread that these releases would be Japan only, but Zelda producer Eiji Anouma later confirmed that other areas will follow, stating “The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Oracle of Ages will be released for Virtual Console on Nintendo 3DS in Japan, but it’ll be a little while longer till the’re out in other territories. We”d like to ask for your patience until they’re ready for release. Thank you!”

It’s been almost a decade since I’ve played the games, but I remember an 11 year old me having an absolute blast with both titles. They’re a bit of an anomaly in the Zelda universe being developed by Capcom, but if my memory serves, the Oracle team did a fantastic job.

What do you think of the news? Were you a fan of the games back in 2001? Interested in seeing what else was announced? Watch the (Japanese) Nintendo Direct here!

Sure, its a character you’re probably not familiar with yet, but it’s Stan Lee!

Magic Storm Entertainment has revealed that Barry Josephson will produc Stan Lee’s Annihilator. Josephson has quite the filmography behind him, including Men in Black, The Fifth Element, The Professional, and many, many more. Magic Store Entertainment CEO Eric Mika is sounding very positive about the partnership, stating that “Barry is the perfect partner at every level to produce a film of this magnitude that targets a global market, including mainland China.”

The script has been written by Dan Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy, Real Steel).

Annihilator tells the story of a young Chinese expatriate, Ming, who must choose between remaining in prison or enlist in a secret US super soldier program.  The program uses targeted genetic enhancements from various animal species.  Ming chooses to undergo this nearly fatal procedure and through his extreme resolve, gained as a result of his family’s tradition of practicing Qijong and martial arts, he survives. Now, armed with remarkable abilities, he must confront a former rival with his own set of enhanced faculties. Our reluctant hero is forced not only to face his personal demons, but also to defeat the villain who will destroy everything that he knows and loves.

Little else is known about the project at this time; no director has been announced, nor have any cast members signed on. We’ll let you know when they do!

So what do you think? Are you planning to pick up a Playstation 4?

It was a big day for Sony today; a new console was announced with plenty of big name games. It doesn’t have a release date or a price, and we don’t even know what it looks like (how could they not show us what it looks like?)… but it sounds pretty cool.

During the conference Guerilla Games revealed the next instalment in the Killzone franchise, titled Killzone: Shadow Fall. The game looks very impressive (though so did that initial Killzone 2 trailer).

Watch the announcement video below, and let us know what you think!

Set thirty years after the events of the Killzone trilogy, the world of Killzone Shadow Fall is a very different place. Forced together by circumstance, the two rival factions of the Helghast and the Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city, divided by a vast wall.

Tensions are high, and a war can spark at any moment. In the midst of this all stands a Shadow Marshall, the most special of the special forces, tasked with maintaining the delicate balance.

Impressed? What did you think of the rest of today’s announcements?

This one’s a little disappointing (though not surprising due to the PS4’s x86 architecture).

Sony’s newly announced Playstation 4 will not be backwards compatable… at least with your current discs. Instead a ‘Playstation Cloud’ service has been unveiled, which when released will stream titles from the PS1, PS2, and PS3 catalogues.

Gaikai founder David Perry stated that he wants the console to stream “everything ever”, but no specific dates were revealed for just when that will happen. Services are set to be rolled out gradually.

I guess I need to finish all of my untouched PS3 games before this hits shelves!

Hopefully you’re keeping up with our liveblog of today’s Sony Playstation 4 announcement. If not, this tidbit of news was too good not to pass on.

PS3 owners know just how annoying it can be to buy a game from the Playstation store… and then wait hours and hours for it to download. This will be a thing of the past with the newly announced Playstation 4; the console features dedicated background processing that will allow you to play a game as soon as you buy it. The data you need will be instantly streamed, and the rest will download in the background.

This is set to work for demos too; rather than having to wait for a multi gigabyte demo to download (by which time you’ve likely lost interest in it), Sony’s Gakai service will stream the entire thing to your console.

Amazing! What do you think of the announcements so far?

Sony’s livestream may be having its issues (is it working for anyone?), but that can’t stop this news from making its waves.

Sony has just announced the Playstation 4. The console is set to hit store shelves later this year! Sony began talking to developers about the console all the way back in 2008, so clearly its been a long time coming.

The system is touted as being a “platform by creators, for creators”, and features an x86 processor (whaaaat?) and a GPU with “remarkable long-term potential.” Playstation 4 also houses a whole 8Gb of RAM, which is a huge step up from consoles on the market today.

A Dualshock 4 controller has also been revealed for the console, and it looks like the biggest design change since the release of the original unit. The controller features advanced motion tracking capabilities, a standard headphone jack (YES), and a touchpad along its center.

Playstation 4 will also feature a new UI with what sounds like a pretty amazing feature; hit the power button and your game is suspended, when you hit it again the console will resume right where you left off!

UPDATE

The stream is over and we got the word that you can get a PS4 this Holiday 2013!

Summit Entertainment has just revealed a new still from their upcoming Sci-Fi adaptation Ender’s Game.

The still is fairly self explanatory, featuring Asa Butterfield as Ender Wiggin and Hailee Steinfeld as Petra Arkanian, chatting it up in the ship’s mess hall. Notice the ship’s scoreboard in the background of the image too!

Check out the image below, and let us know what you think!

Enders-Game-Battle-School

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.

Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham, himself, to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to the film? Ender’s Game opens on November 1st.

UPDATE: Summit has also revealed the logos of the four armies featured in the film. Check those out below!

843965_583705944991150_1694542951_o

Controversy is also beginning to surround the upcoming film. It’s no secret that Ender’s Game author Orson Scott Card holds heavy (heavy) anti-Gay views, even stating: “Marriage has only one definition, and any government that attempts to change it is my mortal enemy. I will act to destroy that government and bring it down.”

Card’s already been in the news lately after being tasked to write on DC Comics forthcoming Adventures of Superman. A massive petition to get him off the book has already nearly hit its goal of 15,000 signatures.

This poses an interesting problem for Summit Entertainment and the Ender’s Game film. Just how involved does Card get? An extremely intriguing article on THR wonders if we’ll be seeing him at conventions at all; getting a few thousand people into a room with someone as controversial as Card is bound to start trouble (which would be nothing but bad for the movie).

So what do you think? Are you planning to see the film? Or will you be skipping it because of Card’s personal views? What did you think of DC’s response to the controversy?

After a mysterious announcement a few weeks ago, followed by some intriguing videos afterwards (here, here, here, and here), Sony is finally ready to show us the future of Playstation.

Nothing is guaranteed of course, but the world is widely expecting the company to announce and unveil the Playstation 4. Sony has been kind enough to provide a live stream of the event, which is embedded below!

The keynote is set to begin a 6PM Eastern! Enjoy, and let us know your thoughts below!

After five long years of development, Bioshock Infinite is finally about to hit shelves. The company announced today that the title has gone gold.

In a blog post on Irrational Games’ official website, Ken Levine describes the process of crafting the title, and just how excited he is for it to finally be coming out, adding “Nobody has ever built a game quite like this. It’s a shooter, but a shooter that brings you to very uncomfortable and dangerous places. I can’t demand that you play the game; I can promise you, however, that once you have, it will be an experience you won’t soon forget.”

Sounds good to me.

Irrational has also released a fantastic new trailer for the game. Check it out below, and let us know what you think! Bioshock Infinite hits stores on March 26th.

If you’re a regular around these parts, you know full well just how excited I am for A&E’s Bates Motel. The series looks absolutely fantastic (at least from the few minutes of footage that we’ve seen), and has had an extremely powerful marketing campaign.

A&E today released a new trailer for the series, and (of course) it’s a great peek at just what the series has to offer. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Bates Motel opens for business on March 18th.

Following the tragic death of her husband, Norma Bates buys a motel on the outskirts of the idyllic coastal town of White Pine Bay, seeking a fresh start. As Norma and Norman get ensconced in their new home, they discover this town isn’t quite what it seems, and the locals aren’t so quick to let them in on their secrets. But the Bates’ are done being pushed around and will do whatever it takes to survive – and will do whatever it takes to protect their own secrets.

Zombieland has found its lead!

Deadline has reported that The Island’s Kirk Ward will show us his version of Tallahassee in the upcoming television series. Originally played by Woody Harrelson, Ward is said to have been the original choice for the character after Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick met him on the set of Invasion Iowa.

The Zombieland movie was quite the thrill ride, and I’d expect the television series (which the project was originally conceived as) to be more of the same!

Zombieland has no set premiere date, but Amazon Studios seems pretty gung-ho on the project! Maybe we’ll get a pilot in time for Halloween?

Yesterday we showed you Sony’s teaser chronicling the life of the Playstation 3, following their PS1 and PS2 endeavours earlier in the week. Today is a new day, and as expected, a new video came along with it.

This time around, Sony is giving us a look at the PSP and it’s follow-up, the Playstation Vita. Take a look at the video below, and let us know what you think!

All of these videos have been leading up to Sony’s keynote tomorrow, where they’re set to tell us all about the future of the Playstation brand, and likely announce the Playstation 4!

Are you looking forward to the announcement? What price point would you like to see the new console come in at? Any defining features you’d like to see?

Sad news for the folks over at Isla Nublar.

Producer Frank Marshall revealed today via twitter that his counterpart and franchise producer Kathleen Kennedy will not be a part of Jurassic Park IV. Kennedy recently stepped in as president of LucasFilm, and will instead act on as Executive Producer on the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.

Jurassic Park IV still has no cast or director, but is scheduled to release on June 14th, 2014.

Any thoughts on this news?

Wow.

Yesterday Halo creators Bungie Studios released a first look at their upcoming game, Destiny. The title looks like an unbelievably ambitious, insanely polished first person adventure that absolutely everyone needs to experience. You really need to experience the video to believe it, but even a day later I’m still thinking about what Destiny has in store for us.

Today the company released some absolutely incredible concept art to follow-up the video. The images are titled Citadel, Fireteam, and Traveler’s Rest, respectively, and certainly paint of vivid picture of the things we may see in the game.

Check out the images below, and let us know what you think!

Unfortunately, Destiny doesn’t have a release date at this time; as soon as we learn when it comes out, so will you!

Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot today released a cool featurette for Star Trek Into Darkness. The video features director JJ Abrams describing just what he was shooting for with this follow-up, as well as plenty of cast members amping you up for the film.

The movie looks phenomenal, and Abrams and the cast are very assuring that it will be. Watch the video below, and let us know what you think!

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes ‘Star Trek Into Darkness.’ When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Star Trek Into Darkness flies into theatres (and our hearts) on May 17th.

You know the drill by now. Following Sony’s PS1 and PS2 videos from earlier in the week, a Playstation 3 follow-up was released late last night. As expected, the video takes us from the PS3’s announcement at E3 2005, right to today, in which you’re hopefully playing Ni No Kuni.

Take a trip down memory lane with the video below, and let us know what you think!

All of these videos are ramping up to the ‘Future of Playstation’ presentation on Wednesday night. Sony is widely expected to unveil a PS3 successor during the keynote. Everyone’s expecting it, but only time will tell! What do you think will be announced?

Welcome to Walking Dead Weekly! As the title implies, each week (bearing a new episode of course), we’ll be taking a look at the latest episode of the AMC series. I’ll let you know how I felt about each weekly offering, and will also compare it to what Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard were doing with the comic at the same time.

Last week was a decent (mostly) return to the series after a long (long) Winter break. The episode began with an anticlimactic, seconds-long duel between the brother’s Dixon before Rick and Maggie’s rescue party arrived. Merle and Daryl then decided to go off on their own (as nobody wanted Merle around of course), and Michonne’s welcome in the group seems to have also expired. Things are getting antsy in Woodbury after the multitude of deaths the night before, and it seems like Governor Phillip is having some trouble dealing with it. The episode ended shortly after Rick and friends returned to the prison; Just as it seemed Rick was about to welcome Tyreese into the group, he saw a dead, sillouetted Lori and went absolutely nuts!

What exactly went down afterwards? Read on and find out! As always, there are plenty of spoilers below! You’ve been warned!

Episode Thoughts – ‘Home’

I have to say that I’m pretty torn on this episode. On one hand, the final scene was an intense action piece that rivals the best that we’ve seen from the series. On the other, Home seemed to feature an abundance of unnecessary scenes and moments that made the entire episode seem to drag on (and on)!

Home opens with a still crazy Rick on the hunt for his (long) dead wife. It appears as though he’s been on this wild goose chase for some time; he looks tired (more so than normal), and doesn’t look overly surprised as beautifully dressed Lori disappears from one location, only to lead him to another. As Rick finally reaches her once more, he expels a touching sigh of relief as she lays her hand on his cheek… We then get the same shot from Michonne’s perspective, in which Rick simply looks batshit crazy (he’s pretty much Tom Hanks in Cast Away at this point). Roll opening credits.

Rick - Lori

Back in Woodbury, Governor commends Andrea for her uplifting speech in the previous episode. He also ensures her that he won’t retaliate agains Rick and the gang’s previous ‘attack’, because, “what would that get us?” Of course at this point the audience knows how untrustworthy The Governor is, so when he states that he will not retaliate… you know it’s going to happen pretty much immediately. Governor, being the smooth talker that he is, convinces Andrea of just how much Woodbury needs her; he kindly requests that she steps in as leader while he takes some much needed time off. Yeah right.

We then get to catch up with the brothers Dixon; hungry, tired, and argumentative, the pair seem to be getting along just as well as ever. It isn’t long before the two come across a family in dire need of rescuing, and while Daryl runs to their aid without giving it a second thought, Merle instead shouts “I ain’t waisting my bullets on a couple’a strangers who ain’t never cook me a meal.” Classic Merle.

Isn't Daryl just a stand-up guy?
Isn’t Daryl just a stand-up guy?

Once the family is safe (with Merle only stepping in when a walker gets too close to himself or Daryl), Merle attempts to rob the family of supplies; it isn’t until Daryl turns his crossbow on his own brother that the older Dixon lays off. The family escapes, and an argument ensues between the brothers. We actually get a moment of legitimate emotion from Merle here; as he rips Daryl’s shirt in anger, he realizes that after he left home all those years ago, the abuse he suffered was passed on to his younger brother.

Ouch...
Ouch…

Back at the prison, Glenn is on a (as Hershel deems it) warpath. He barely says a word to Maggie for the entire episode, and when he finally does, it isn’t at all what she’s looking to hear. The only thing that’s on his mind is revenge, while all that Maggie wants is her lover’s support. Unfortunately, Glen can’t see it, and sets off for vengeance before the two can get to any sort of common ground.

In Woodbury, Governor scares Milton half to death before asking him to keep tabs on Andrea. Andrea gets suspicious when she realizes that one of his men, Martinez has disappeared, and The Governor is nowhere to be found as well. Hmm… I wonder where they’re off to.

The sweet, loveable, misunderstood Axel gets more development in Home than in any prior episode. We learn about what he did to get into prison, his life before the dead started coming back, and some of his hopes and dreams. He seems to be making a real connection with Carol this episode, and for the first time in quite awhile, we get to see her genuinely laugh and smile. Of course, development of new characters has typically been a bad omen so far this season, so I couldn’t help but wonder if we’d see Axel taken out before Home came to a close.

Axel RIP

Just seconds after I began to wonder about his fate, a single bullet ripped through his skull; he fell to the ground at the same rate thatmy jaw fell to the floor, and seconds later absolute chaos began. Of course, Axel’s death happened right in front of Carol; another heartbreaking moment for the poor soul, not to mention that she must then use his corpse as a shield for the remainder of the attack.

This isn't good.
This isn’t good.

The Governor and a choice few of his men have arrived at the prison. An extremely intense shootout takes place between the two teams. Both groups share similar qualities: seemingly unlimited rounds, and terrible, terrible aim. After nearly five minutes of fire, bullets found their way only to Axel and one of Governor’s men.

ZombieVan

The Governor had one more trick up his sleeve however; a delivery van full of walkers. The vehicle easily burst through the prison gates before spilling its contents, causing absolute hell for everyone around. I wasn’t quite sure how our survivors were going to get out of this one, but just a moment later The Governor gathered his men and left the area. Glenn arrived seconds later (I guess he didn’t make it to Woodbury) to pull Hershel and Maggie to safety, while Daryl and Merle showed up to save the day for Rick. The episode closed as our group shut and locked the gate… from the outside. Where do they go from here!?

Outside the prison with a walker-filled yard in the way... haven't we seen this before?
Outside the prison with a walker-filled yard in the way… haven’t we seen this before?

The episode certainly went out with a bang, but I felt as though it dragged on at other times; the start of the episode may have been one of the weakest in recent memory (in my opinion of course). I certainly hope that we see Lori’s ghost again soon, because at this point she’s been a strange anomaly in the last two episodes, and nothing overly useful or entertaining has occurred because of her. I also found it rather strange that Glenn set off for Woodbury but then showed up just in time to rescue those in need. Why did he turn around? Wouldn’t he have passed The Governor’s men on the way? How did he have such perfect timing?

As with most of the season however, the good definitely outweighed the bad, and if the conclusion of this episode is any indication, next week should be an absolute blast. Check out the preview for Season 3, Episode 11 – ‘I Ain’t A Judas’, and let us know what you think!

Comic Comparison

I think that Rick may be just a little crazier in the AMC series. Sure he goes a little bit insane and tries to talk to his dead wife on the phone in both versions, but just a few days later in the series he then sees her and spends a respectable period of time following her around (after having a gigantic tantrum in front of everyone). Weird.

Great arc in the comic, went by too quickly in the series!
Great arc in the comic, went by too quickly in the series!

Home saw The Governor launch a small attack on the prison folk, but it played out a lot differently than it did in the comic. Kirkman’s version had The Governor offering a choice via megaphone; give up the prison or die. The AMC version had Governor’s men simply ambush the group and take out whoever they could (like poor Axel). The comic saw Axel shot in the arm during the first invasion (Issue 44), while in the series he took a bullet through the head.

Yep, Axel looked a lot different in the comic too.
Yep, Axel looked a lot different in the comic too.

It wasn’t until the comic’s second invasion that Axel would fall victim to The Governor (Issue 47).

Similar death, different time.
Similar death, different attack.

We also haven’t seen any tanks for quite some time in the series, which left me wondering how The Governor would be breaking down the prison fences in the show. Turns out a delivery truck will do just fine, and it also gets walkers in the yard much more quickly than the tank method would have.

TruckTank

Andrea is also in a very different spot in the series than she was in the book at this time. AMC has her as the stand-in leader of Woodbury, while Kirkman had her on the cover of issue 44, a warrior of the prison, and on the opposite side of the Woodbury battle.

Six episodes to go, and The Governor has finally launched an assault on the prison! Who will be left standing as the season closes? Will Beth suffer the same fate on TV that she did in the comics? Will Merle and Michonne be rejoining the group? Just six more weeks until we have all the answers (or at least some of them)!

As always, thanks for reading, and we’ll see you next week! Happy belated Valentine’s day!

Walking-Dead-Valentine-3

Bungie Studios, creators of Halo, Marathon, Oni, and more, today released a first look into their next title, Destiny. From this quick two-minute video, it’s crystal clear that Destiny is going to be something very special.

Take a peek at Destiny below, and let us know what you think!

“Everything changed with the arrival of the Traveler. It sparked a Golden Age when our civilization spanned the solar system, but it didn’t last. Something hit us, knocked us down. The survivors built a city beneath the Traveler, and have begun to explore our old worlds, only to find them filled with deadly foes.

You are a Guardian of the last safe city on Earth, able to wield incredible power. Defend the City. Defeat our enemies. Reclaim all that we have lost. Be brave.”

There looks to be some really groundbreaking stuff in here; smart phones and computers keep you in the game ever when you’re away from your console, and even from this early footage the game looks and sounds just beautiful.

I’m already sold, how about you? Destiny is yet to have a release date, but as soon as we know, so will you.

It’s been a busy week for NBC’s Hannibal. First the show got a cool new piece of key art, just a day later the premiere date was revealed, and now the first teaser for the show has been released!

The teaser is short, but very sweet; the show certainly looks to have a Dexter feel to it, as Hannibal Lecter is both working with the police, and being the scarily disturbing fellow that we all know and love.

Watch the teaser below, and let us know what you think! Hannibal premieres on Thursday, April 4th!

One of the most fascinating literary characters comes to life on television for the first time: psychiatrist-turned-serial killer, Dr. Hannibal Lecter. In this new drama from Bryan Fuller (“Pushing Daisies,” “Heroes”), based on the characters from Thomas Harris’ classic novels, we see where this incredible story began.

Will Graham is a gifted criminal profiler who is on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI. Graham’s unique way of thinking gives him the astonishing ability to empathize with anyone – even psychopaths. He seems to know what makes them tick. But when the mind of the twisted killer he’s pursuing is too complicated for even Will to comprehend, he enlists the help of Dr. Lecter, one of the premier psychiatric minds in the country. Armed with the uncanny expertise of the brilliant doctor, Will and Hannibal (known as a serial killer only to the audience) form a brilliant partnership and it seems there’s no villain they can’t catch. If Will only knew…

Starring brilliant young actor Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, “Hannibal” will breathe new life into a deadly classic.
