Wow. Just wow. From the moment the teaser trailer for HBO’s 2016 show Westworld started I was hooked. No hyperbole here folks, I’m fucking sold.

The show stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Jimmi Simpson, Clifton Collins, Jr., Simon Quarterman and Angela Sarafyan.

Westworld is based off of the 1973 film of the same name, which just so happens to be Michael Crichtons first feature film.

HBO says their newest show is

A dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.

Like I said up top there, I was instantly sold. The vibe I got right away really checked all my boxes and I cannot wait for this show to start.

Westworld airs on HBO sometime in 2016. BUT, you can get a first look at it TONIGHT just before the season two finale of True Detective.

Briefly: A few weeks back, a mysterious, intriguing video appeared on Bad Robot’s official YouTube channel. The internet was ripe with speculation on whether Stranger teased a new, unannounced film or television series. As it turns out, it’s neither.

Bad Robot has debuted a new trailer for the project, which is a book developed by JJ Abrams and written by Doug Dorst, simply titled S. EW was able to take a look at the novel, and describes it as follows:

S. is basically about the relationship between a grad student named Eric and a college senior named Jennifer. They trade notes in the margins of a (fictional) 1949 novel by a mysterious author named V.M. Straka. S. contains the novel within the novel; copious handwritten notes between Jennifer and Eric (“a conversation that plunges them into the unknown,” according to the book jacket); and dozens of pieces of ephemera between the pages like newspaper clippings and a napkin with a map drawn on it.

S. sounds insanely interesting, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. The book releases on October 29. Take a look at the new teaser below, and let us know if you’ll be picking it up!

Briefly: Whatever this project is, I’m already insanely intrigued.

Bad Robot today debuted a trailer for a mysterious new project titled Stranger. It’s unknown whether the video teases an upcoming film or television project for the studio (which has a number of each currently in the works), but Stranger doesn’t appear connected to anything that Bad Robot has announced so far.

The video clocks in at just over a minute long, so I won’t spoil anything that it contains. Take a look at the impressive teaser below, and let us know what you think! We’ll be sure to share more details as they’re announced!

Marketing for Star Trek Into Darkness is now in full force. Following a new poster just two days ago (and a batch of high-res images yesterday), Paramount has released a cool new motion poster for the film. Calling itself a ‘Cinemosaic’, the image is composed of a cool grid of other clips from the film.

Check out the Star Trek Into Darkness cinemosaic below, and let us know what you think! Star Trek Into Darkness flies into theatres on May 17th.

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes ‘Star Trek Into Darkness.’ When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Paramount today released a new trailer for the highly anticipated Star Trek Into Darkness. This one is short but sweet, and offers up plenty of footage that we haven’t seen before.

We’re just over two months away from the film’s release at this point, and it’s certainly getting tougher and tougher to contain our excitement for it here at Geekscape. Watch the new trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Video game adaptations are appearing to be the next big thing in Hollywood. And the latest that could be joining the group are Valve’s Half-Life and Portal franchises.

Don’t worry, J.J. Abrams won’t be directing. He’s got a lot on his plate already in that department. However, Abrams production company Bad Robot will be teaming up with Valve Software to adapt each others properties for both video games and films. Bad Robot will help Valve make movies and Valve will help Bad Robot make video games.

Gabe Newell of Valve stated:

“We sort of reached the point where we decided that we needed to do more than talk.”

Keep in mind, just because they’re working together to produce these films, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they definitely will get made. However, with the rising popularity in video game adaptations the chances are quite high that we may see both come to the big screen.

After a fantastic first teaser and a gorgeous longer look just a week later, I didn’t think I could be more excited for Star Trek Into Darkness.

A few weeks have passed since the last exciting trailer, and today Paramount has treated us to a few stills. Each still looks absolutely wonderful, and every second that I look at them makes me more and more giddy to finally get to see this movie.

What do you think? Again, Star Trek Into Darkness flies into theatres on May 17th.

Just 11 days ago we showed you the fantastic first teaser for the high much anticipated Star Trek Into Darkness. The action-packed preview ran just over a minute long, and a full length trailer was said to be releasing shortly afterwards.

That preview has just been released, and as everyone expected, it’s AWESOME. I can’t wait for more (and I’m disappointed I don’t live near an IMAX).

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Star Trek Into Darkness flies into theatres on May 17th.

TrekMovie reported last night that they have discovered the official title for the followup to 2009’s Star Trek.

The film is to be titled Star Trek Into Darkness. You read that right: no colon, no numbering, just a flat out new title, and an interesting one at that.

Comingsoon was able to confirm that multiple domain names relating to this titling have been registered by Paramount.

No information has been released yet about the film.

What did you think of the first movie? What do you think of this title? Sound out below!

So, Edgar Wright is getting ready to go into production on Worlds End in September and then gearing up for Ant-Man after that. Well add yet another movie to his schedule now.

Paramount pictures is mobilizing a sci-fi film called Collider, and it is a collision of several of the top guys in the genre. Edgar Wright will direct the film, and he is co-writing the script with I Am Legend‘s Mark Protosevich. Wright is producing with his longtime Big Talk Productions partner Nira Park and JJ Abrams through his Bad Robot banner.

Wow. Edgar seems to be a hot name right now and us over at Geekscape are definitely happy for him. I have yet to be let down by any of his films and definitely looking forward to all three of these projects myself. Just maybe Ant-man a bit more so than the others.
