WARNING – SPOILERS AHEAD!

Now that you’ve had time to digest everything that was packed into that nearly three hour movie, let’s get to what matters:

WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS FLASH WARNING BRUCE ABOUT?!

Judging by how Batman V Superman ended, there’s a couple of different routes Snyder and co can take in bringing the Justice League to the big screen. If you’ve been reading my recaps on The Flash and other DCTV shows, then you’ll know that I like to start with the facts.

The Flash

Not too far into the film, Bruce is visited by Barry Allen, The Flash. During his brief visit, the Flash warns Bruce, saying, among other things, that “Lois is the key!” The Flash also pleaded with Bruce, shouting “Find us!” Bruce didn’t really have time to react as he was plastered in his chair. I mean, who wouldn’t be?

BRUCE, LISTEN TO ME

IT’S LOIS, LOIS LANE. SHE’S THE KEY

AM I TOO EARLY? I’M TOO EARLY

YOU WERE RIGHT ABOUT HIM, YOU’VE ALWAYS BEEN RIGHT ABOUT HIM

FIND US, YOU HAVE TO FIND US

  • The Flash

The Flash was also not wearing his traditional costume and instead wore what looked like to be an armored suit. The helmet covering his face retracted, revealing that he was indeed wearing his traditional costume under the armored suit. For those who have seen the show and have read the comics, it’s no secret that the Flash has the ability to travel through time with use of the Speedforce. Still, we don’t exactly know how powerful this cinematic iteration of Barry Allen will be. For example, maybe he’s not fast enough to travel through time, yet.

theflashspeedforce

In any case, I think it’s clear that the armored suit wasn’t only for protection, but instead a sort of power boost for the Flash. Wrapping up the facts, we know the Flash travelled back in time to warn Bruce of a future where things aren’t going so great. In an effort to change the future, the Flash is hoping that Bruce shapes up and forms the Justice League.

Cyborg

Now that the facts surrounding Flash’s visit are out of the way, let’s go over Cyborg’s origin. In the file Bruce obtained from Lex, we saw a video of Cyborg’s creation, meaning by the time the events of Batman V Superman come around, Cyborg is already running around S.T.A.R. Labs. However, there’s something about Cyborg’s origin that some fans may have missed.

Motherbox

A Mother Box is essentially a super computer developed by the folks of New Genesis. A long time ago, a brutal war between the Old Gods ended in the creation of “The Fourth World.” This place came into existence separate from the universe as we know it. Since then, the two worlds that occupy that space have been locked in an eternal war. These two worlds are known as Apokolips and New Genesis. Mother Boxes are found on New Genesis and are sometimes referenced as living computers. They are comprised of an element called Element X and have also been known to sacrifice themselves for a greater cause.

cyborg boom tube

In the context of Batman v. Superman, it would appear that Dr. Stone used a Mother Box on his son and created Cyborg. This would render Cyborg to be a huge asset to the Justice League because of his knowledge and access to tech not of this world. This tech would also allow Cyborg to combat anyone from New Genesis and Apokolips, but more importantly, it would allow him to create and access Boom Tubes which brings us back to how Flash was able to reach Bruce.

As for how Dr. Stone was able to get a hold of a Mother Box, we don’t know. Perhaps Lex has already captured Scott Free, aka Mister Miracle, and is keeping him somewhere secret. Miracle is the son of the ruler of New Genisis. After being traded to Darkseid as part of a peace treaty, Free escaped to Earth and has used the planet as a sort of hiding place from Darkseid. If this is the case, it could be that Lex was using him as a bargaining chip upon Darkseid’s arrival.

A Future Without the Justice League

Fans of The Flash may be wrong in thinking Barry simply ran so fast he traveled back in time. I think the right frame of thinking here is that Cyborg is responsible for opening the Boom Tube, and that, combined with Flash’s speed, allowed time travel to be possible. This duo may be the only heroes left in a future where the Justice League never formed. It would explain where the Flash got the armored suit from (Cyborg), and it would explain why the Flash went too far back in time. The calculations of time travel may be difficult, but it would also be increasingly difficult if both Cyborg and the Flash were working against the clock.

Darkseid

In this future without the League, there is a threat so large that Cyborg and Flash see no other alternative than to warn Bruce in the past with the hope that they can change the future. A threat this large brings only a few possibilities to mind.

darksied

At the end of Batman V Superman, Luthor says something along the lines of “the bell has been rung.” Something is coming. As far as alien threats go, and because a Mother Box may be involved, I would have to go with the theory that Darkseid is coming. Darkseid would be a perfect villain to set up the Justice League films (there are two announced so far).

Injustice

One common theme found in Batman V Superman is that Lois is Superman’s world. Nothing matters more than her, and Lex was able to take advantage of that weakness. I counted maybe four instances where Lois was built to be the driving force behind Superman’s good will and belief in humanity. Should Lois die, or should Superman be tricked into killing Lois, then we can expect Superman to go into a very dark place.

The Injustice storyline involves a timeline in which Superman becomes a ruthless tyrant, controlling the entire planet. This alternate timeline fits very well within the context of Bruce’s nightmare he had in the desert. If you noticed, all of Superman’s mercs were wearing “S” patches on their shoulders. Along with the mercs, Batman also encountered Parademons. In the comics, Parademons act as Darksied’s personal soldiers. They are genetically created in labratories on Apokolips from Human DNA. They are also usually sent in advance to planets Darkseid wishes to invade. The DC cinematic universe would go into a very dark place if it were to suggest Superman is using Human DNA on Earth to create an army.

injustice

The biggest supporting evidence behind this is The Flash saying “You were right, you’ve always been right about him.” This suggests that Batman was right in not trusting Superman for the majority of the film.

A Combination of Both

Who knows? Maybe Darkseid does arrive on Earth and Batman fails at protecting Lois. After defeating Darkseid, it would be entirely possible for Superman to become they tyrant we’ve seen in Injustice. Let’s also remember the Omega symbol that Bruce saw in his “Knightmare.” The Omega symbol is usually tied to Darkseid.

omega bvs

We also have to remember that it will take years to see how all this plays out. The best thing about all this is that DCU is just getting started.

Briefly: If you’ve held off on Injustice: Gods Among Us for this long, now is the perfect time to pick it up.

The ‘Ultimate Edition’ of the game has just launched, featuring the core game, plus every piece of DLC that’s been released for it. That means six new characters, and dozens (and dozens) of new skins.

I’m not usually a big fighting game fan, but I absolutely fell in love with Injustice. This is the game that I wanted Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe to be back in the day, and NetherRealm Studios has done some incredible work with the title.

The Injustice: Gods Among Us – Ulimate Edition is available now on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Playstation Vita, and PC. The PS4 version features full 1080p graphics at 60 frames per second, and should be just beautiful. Players who pick up the PS3 version can upgrade to the PS4 edition for just $10!

Take a look at the game’s launch trailer below, which showcases the game’s stellar cast, and let us know if you enjoyed the title!

“Gods Among Us” debuts as a bold new fighting game franchise that introduces a deep, original story featuring a large cast of favorite DC Comics icons such as Batman, Cyborg, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Deathstroke, Solomon Grundy, Superman, Lex Luthor, The Flash, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Bane, Catwoman, Shazam, Black Adam, Raven, the Joker, Doomsday, Killer Frost, Ares and more. Set in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred, players will experience heroes and villains engaging in epic battles on a massive scale.

Briefly: Could this be the BIG NEWS that NetherRealm co-founder Ed Boon tweeted about?

The studio has just announced a new edition of their popular, acclaimed Injustice: Gods Among Us. The new, “Ultimate Edition” of the title includes (of course), the base game, and all of the DLC that’s been released so far (there’s quite a lot of it).

This edition is coming to PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, and PC, apparently leaving out the Xbox One, and totally leaving out the Wii U (which still hasn’t received any DLC). It launches on November 12th in North America, and November 29th in Europe.

This is a great buy for anyone that hasn’t yet picked up Injustice. The game is one of the best brawlers that I’ve played in some time, and it’s definitely a title that benefits from an expansive library of DLC.

Take a look at the launch trailer for Injustice below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up the new version!

Briefly: Last week, NetherRealm Studios revealed that the next DLC character for Injustice: Gods Among Us would be none other than Zatanna.

The character’s first debut trailer showed some pretty impressive skills, along with (naturally) very flashy moves. Zatanna’s finishing move, however, is likely the most boring of the game’s entire roster.

The Zatanna DLC has just launched, and is now available for download (for a measly $5 / 400 MS Points) on PS3 and Xbox 360. Wii U owners like myself, are again out of luck, and will probably never see the DLC… like, ever.

Take a look at Zatanna’s history below, and let us know if you’ll be downloading the character!

Briefly: The next DLC character for NetherRealm Studios fantastic Injustice: Gods Among Us has been revealed.

The first gameplay trailer for Zatanna has debuted online, showing off some pretty impressive moves, and finishing things off with a very lazy finisher (probably the most boring one that I’ve seen). All around, the character looks pretty neat, and should be welcomed by gamers who are itching for a new fighter.

Watch Zatanna’s gameplay footage below, and let us know what you think! We’ll let you know when Zatanna releases!

Briefly: Last week it was reveal that J’onn J’onzz would not be the final DLC character to join Injustice: Gods Among Us‘ already expansive roster.

Today, Martian Manhunter officially released, and is absolutely itching for a fight. The character is available for $4.99 (or 400MS Points) on PS3 and Xbox 360. It has not been announced if or when he’ll be dropping on the Wii U version of the game (which seems to be all but forgotten these days).

NetherRealm today released a video describing the history of the character, so if you’re unfamiliar, take a look below, and let us know if you’ll be picking him up!

To say that the downloadable characters released for Injustice: Gods Among Us were contentious would be an understatement. After a generally well received announcement of Lobo, the releases of Batgirl, Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion and Man of Steel villain Zod divided the community amongst people who felt more Batman and Superman characters was overkill, along with a guest character taking a slot in what many assumed was a DC exclusive fighter. But most of all, some were mad because there were still vital pieces of the DC Universe missing, especially Justice League mainstay Martian Manhunter. At EVO, NetherRealm Studios showed they were listening, answering the fan’s request and adding Manhunter to the Injustice cast along with an extra surprise.

The reveal trailer showed Manhunter going against John Stewart’s Green Lantern, displaying some impressive use of his shape shifting and telepathic abilities. Stewart on the other hand, is a new skin for the Hal Jordan version in the standard game, so while his moves are the same, it sounds like the developers were able to secure the Justice League Unlimited voice actor from the animated series for both. It would have been nice to see some new constructs, but then again, I’m happy that Stewart is in at all. Completing the Justice League animated cast on top of a brand new character is better than expected.

Injustice Zatanna

Will Zatanna make the DLC cut?

But the good news doesn’t stop there. Ed Boon recently tweeted that MM and Stewart won’t be the final additions, stating that the next one is a, “BIG fan favorite request!” What this means is anyone’s guess, but the character request polls were led by Zatanna and Red Hood. Considering the backlash towards more Batman characters, I’m guessing Zatanna is getting in. While I personally would be happy with Hood, (or Black Canary and Huntress for that matter,) Zatanna would be a great addition to a roster with a lack of magic users save for Raven.

The moral of the story? Don’t buy season passes!

Martian Manhunter and John Stewart will be available on July 30th for $4.99. Whether or not a second season pass for the new wave of fighters, who the next character will be, and how many characters will be added from here is unknown, but details will be posted as they become available.

Last week, it was revealed that the next DLC character for NetherRealm Studios Injustice: Gods Among Us would be none other than General Zod. This of course tied in nicely with the release of this Summer’s biggest film, Man of Steel.

Today, the first trailer for the character has been released. I’ve been addicted to Injustice for quite some time now, and Zod certainly looks like a formidable opponent. Man of Steel fans will also enjoy a film-inspired skin for Superman, with both pieces of DLC releasing on July 2nd.

Watch the trailer and check out the new skin below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

Injustice: Gods Among Us introduces a new franchise in the fighting game genre and a brand new story created in collaboration between NetherRealm Studios, DC Entertainment and comic book writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti. As the story unfolds, players will experience the power, gadgetry and unparalleled strength of some the most popular DC Comics heroes and villains, such as Batman, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, The Joker and others, as they engage in epic battles in a world where the line between good and evil is blurred.

This is a great movie tie-in.

Last night’s Conan had the hilarious host reviewing the new DC brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us. The game released back in April, and has been garnering plenty of acclaim ever since. Fighting games, by nature, beg for DLC, and Injustice has had its fair share of it. Characters (Batgirl and Mortal Kombat‘s Scorpion so far), costume packs, and more have already been released, and last night’s Conan revealed the next character you’ll be adding to your roster: Zod.

No word yet on when Zod will be available, but seeing as Man of Steel is releasing today, I’d expect it to happen soon. The character looks like a formidable opponent, and sports a very cool finishing move, so it should please fans of both the character and game alike. Watch Conan’s review/reveal below, and let us know what you think!

Warner Bros. Interactive has just revealed the next piece of DLC for the wildly popular Injustice: Gods Among Us… and it isn’t a DC character at all.

NetherRealm studios, of course, was the developer of the renowned Mortal Kombat remake in 2011. The next character is pulled directly from that title, but with a cool new design by DC superstar Jim Lee: Scorpion.

Scorpion’s release date is currently unknown, but the character will retail for $4.99. Watch Jim Lee and Ed Boon introduce the character below, and let us know if you’ll be picking him up!

Last week, the second DLC character for the acclaimed Injustice: Gods Among Us was revealed to be Batgirl. Today, we got our first good look at just what she’s capable of, thanks to a cool new trailer from NetherRealm Studios.

I haven’t yet had a chance to pick up Injustice myself, but I’m really looking forward to the day I do. I’ve been thoroughly impressed by what I’ve played of the title, and if review scores are any indication, so is everyone else. I can’t wait to see what NetherRealm has in store for us with the game’s continued DLC.

Watch the Batgirl trailer below, and let us know how you’re liking the game!

Injustice is awesome. I was weary about the title for a long time (remember Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe?), but after finally getting a chance to play the demo and a few rounds of the full game, it’s safe to say that it’s a wonderful experience. It’s also an experience that is only going to get better with time, as NetherRealm has confirmed that there is plenty of DLC coming.

Last week, Lobo was announced as the first DLC character. NetherRealm revealed today via twitter that Batgirl is next. They released a single image (and she looks pretty damn cool), and her first gameplay trailer is set to drop next week.

Take a look at the image below, and let us know if you’re enjoying the game!

Hot on the heels of the awesome Green Lantern trailer from earlier this week, Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm studios have just released the official launch trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us. The game looks bad-ass, and if you’ve had an opportunity to play the recently released demo, you’ll know that the game plays wonderfully; I can’t wait to get my hands on the retail version and see just what each character has to offer.

There’s just a few more days to wait for this one: Injustice: Gods Among Us hits shelves on April 16th! Can’t wait that long? Hopefully the cool iOS version can make time pass just a bit more quickly.

Watch the launch trailer below, and let us know who you’re most excited to play as!

Well, this is unexpected.

We’re just a few weeks away from the release of NetherRealm Studios latest console brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Yesterday, a playable demo for the game was released, showcasing just a few of the action-packed battles you’ll be able to partake in once the full featured edition hits shelves. Today, the studio released a mobile version.

Injustice: Gods Among Us hit the iOS app store earlier this evening for the wonderful price of $0.00. I had the opportunity to play a few matches, and just like NetherRealm’s last iOS title (Batman: Arkham City Lockdown), Injustice looks great, plays smoothly, and maintains simple, understandable, nigh-perfect controls. The mechanics of the game are also a little different from its console sibling, the mobile edition mixing the classic fighter with a neat card-battling system.

Sure, it’s not the console version, and that’s one of the best things about it. With a few exceptions, direct console ports simply don’t work well on touchscreen devices. NetherRealm knows that, and both of their iOS titles have been excellent, both as standalone and companion games.

Did I mention that it’s free, AND that you can unlock items for the console version? Download Injustice: Gods Among Us on the App Store, and let us know what you think! Not quite sold? Check out an overview of the title, courtesy of IGN!

Warner Bros. Interactive and Netherrealm Studios today released a new trailer for their upcoming DC brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us. This preview features a bunch of new footage and showcases some of the various features the game will have at release.

Yesterday, a playable demo for the game launched on Xbox Live and Playstation Network. If you’ve had a chance to try it, be sure to let us know your first impressions! In any case, watch the new trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be picking up Injustice on April 16th!

In bigger gaming news, have you read about the closure of LucasArts?

We’re now just a few weeks away from the release date of Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Warner Bros. Interactive today revealed that a playable demo for the game will be hitting Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 2nd.

I was rather reserved about Injustice when I first learned of its existence (we’re all well aware of how Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe turned out), but the more footage I see, the more I can see that the developers are trying (and hard) to avoid a repeat of that disaster. A playable demo well before the game’s release date is a great gesture, and I’m sure that if the quality is there, it will win back fans that still have a bad taste in their mouth from that last DC brawler.

A new trailer for the game has also been released featuring Black Adam. Watch it below, and let us know what you think! Injustice: Gods Among Us hits stores on April 16th.

Following the Lex Luthor trailer from a few weeks back, NetherRealm Studios has unveiled a new story trailer for their upcoming brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us. This new trailer focusses on The Joker’s favourite gal, Harley Quinn, and shows just how different her situation turned out in this alternate DC universe.

Another day, another piece of marketing for Injustice: Gods Among Us… not that that’s a bad thing, the game is looking pretty rad at this point.

The latest video is a story trailer featuring the Man of Steel’s arch nemesis himself, Lex Luthor. Lex explains just what he’s doing with his life since all this mess started, and we get to see some of his moves and abilities.

Anyone been picking up the prequel comic? Any thoughts on that?

Less than two weeks after Aquaman’s announcement, Warner Bros. Interactive has revealed Sinestro as the latest character to join the ranks of Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The character’s moves and abilities are still unknown, but that should all change on Friday when Injustice’s next Battle Arena video is released.

What do you think of this addition? Who are you most excited to play as? Will you be picking up Injustice: Gods Among Us when it hits shelves on April 16th?

The game is looking pretty rad… but so did Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe, and we all know how that turned out.

This game just keeps getting cooler.

Warner Bros. Interactive revealed today that Aquaman will be joining the multitude of characters taking a stand in Injustice: Gods Among Us. A fairly badass reveal trailer accompanied the announcement, and if it’s any indication, Aquaman will be a force to be reckoned with.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Injustice: Gods Among Us hits PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 16th. The game is NOT coming to Wii U as was previously believed.

Set in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred, players will experience heroes and villains engaging in epic battles on a massive scale.

Everyone around these parts seems to be quite looking forward to Injustice: Gods Among Us. It’s a new brawler from the creators of Mortal Kombat, one of the available editions comes with an awesome looking fight stick, and of course we’ve got all of our favourite characters from the DC universe.

Up until now however, we had no idea what the game was about. Sure, everyone’s fighting, but just what is all the fuss about? Today, just over two months before the game releases, Warner Bros. Interactive has filled us in. A new trailer has been released for the game, featuring pretty much all the plot they could squeeze into two minutes.

Netherrealm Studios today released a new trailer for the upcoming (and surprisingly anticipated) DC brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The trailer features our first real look at how Lex Luthor will be keeping up with our super-powered heroes, and we also get to hear a lot of new voice acting.

The game certainly looks presentable, let’s just hope the gameplay is  vastly different from the last DC fighter, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Injustice: Gods Among Us launches on April 19th.

GameSpot has revealed the latest addition to NetherRealm Studios highly anticipated fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us. None other than Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke will be joining the roster that already incluides Superman, Batman, Joker, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Nightwing, Cyborg, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Catwoman and The Flash.

Injustice: Gods Among Us hits shelves April 2013.

After the revelation of the game and some announcements at San Diego Comic-Con, the news regarding  Injustice: Gods Among Us has been a tad slow. Well, minus revealing that there is going to be a collectors edition of the game. But there has been plenty of characters yet to be announced for the game still.

Entertainment Weekly has now revealed the latest addition to the game, the emerald archer himself, Green Arrow.

Injustice: Gods Among Us hits shelves next April.

Ed Boon brought two new characters to Comic-Con and revealed that you will be able to play as both Nightwing and Cyborg. Due to the game being obviously based on the ‘New 52’ cyborgs inclusion is obvious and I am sure we can expect to see Aquaman and Green Lantern soon enough.

Nightwing is the third bat-character to be introduced. With him and Harley that pretty much confirms we will be seeing The Joker on that roster soon. But fingers crossed that we get a ‘New 52′ Red Hood too. Just sayin’ DC.

And now some gameplay courtesy of Gamespot!

I was lucky enough to get seated at a behind-closed-doors preview of DC’s newest fighting game. Fans of DC games may remember their last attempt to make a serious impression on the fighting genre. Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was, to say the least, not as good as it could have been. But that’s besides the point. Injustice: Gods Among Us will be unique enough to keep on your radar.

NeatherRealm’s newest fighting game will feature a 24-character roster. Officially announced characters include Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Batman, Superman, Flash, and Wonder Woman. The rest of the 20 character slots were silhouetted with question marks.

NeatherRealm was kind enough to show us two matches. The first was between Superman and Flash in the Batcave. NeatherRealm is focused on crafting a unique experience in this specific title. One of their major focuses lies within the map design. Developers are keen on making the world a weapon at your disposal during a match. Examples included Superman grabbing debris from the Batcave, picking grenades up that had fallen out of a Batsuit, and throwing a barrel of oil used to fill the Batmobile; all to inflict damage on Flash.

More examples of using the map as a weapon came in a match between Batman and Solomon Grundy in the stage, “Future City”. Solomon Grundy was able to interact with a parked car by picking it up and smashing Batman with it. This caused the car to become flammable and a potential explosive, thus creating a hazard to both players. During the match, both players must keep fighting while thinking about how they can use that hazard to their advantage.

With each map, NeatherRealm promises to deliver 3 separate environments, each with its own set of object interactions and hazards that can potentially help you win the match. Maps are also destructible, something NeatherRealm wants gamers to notice. Each map and player model will have an intense amount of detail and shades of lighting. The attention to detail was apparent as I was watching Superman and Flash duke it out. During the fight, we were able to see Superman have different facial expressions as he was fighting. Depending on the use of their superpowers, the Batcave would shake and cause damage both in the fighting area and background.

The last thing that gamers should be aware of are the supers. Once a meter is filled, gamers will have the opportunity to perform a super attack. These super attacks have a strong cinematic feel to them. Perhaps the most outstanding super attack came from the Flash. After stunning Superman, Flash took off in one direction as the game cut to a shot of Earth. Flash and his trail could be seen, from space, running AROUND the globe to then deliver a punch to Superman’s face. Each character will have a distinct super, look, and feel.

NeatherRealm is aiming for a cinematic “blockbuster movie” type of fighting experience. I believe they’re right on target.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is set to release next year.
